Episode description

From Genesis to Revelation, the Holy Spirit is present. Yet not once is it called: ‘God the Spirit’. While this term is vital to the doctrine of the trinity, it is without foundation in the Word of God. By contrast, the Bible describes the Spirit as proceeding forth from, and being possessed by, the Father and Son. Phrases such as “the Spirit of the Father” and “the Spirit of Jesus Christ” are innumerable. Yet many still claim that the Holy Spirit is a separate divine being, co-eternal and co-equal with the Father and Son. Is this understanding based in Scripture? Or do the prophets unanimously testify that the Holy Spirit is the personal, divine spirit of God? Moreover, who is the Comforter which Christ promised to send in John 14? And what value does this knowledge afford to practical Christian life?
