And I have an extra bone in my jaw for my were my twin sees in my face? My twin brother. Yeah, let's let's uh. For people who don't remember this, you had a twin brother that was still born at birth, but he was kind of huh, he was excused in my face, you know how in conception, so so the other baby was fused,

was fused in your face. And explain what has happened over the years, the things the parts of him that have fallen out of your face over the years. Uh. First his little private parts, Fella, his little private they look like pens and eggs come down my throat. I caught them up first, okay, and then what happened got him med seven ory and here they came out and the dart. You said, ah, they're pops. I said yeah. Right then I kept saying there's something growing under my nose

oecter. Well, I had three ultra signs of my face. They never showed up. So the ghosts started beating me in my face about every day in my apartment. I moved into the horny apartment. Yeah, and so one day it beat me so hard it sounds like a gunshot. My sister said, I know it hurt. I said, I tell you something in this place don't like me. So we joked about it. And then one day I said, and at sometimes my throat and I thought, what what came? A man's thumb came out my throat at sixty eight? Now I'm

It didn't have bones like pearl hop pearl tap biocre with a little red bub that's why I didn't show up. There ain't no no bone in it. It's just a little okay, wait called them things sells bubbles, bubbles bomb a freak. But so you're having this surge is oral surgery and get the next bone out my well, that just sounds that doesn't sound good at all. It sounds painful. And then I got rolled baby teeth that I have stayed of. They love bubbles all the way around my lower mountain whole said,

I'm born baby teeth. I'm just a freak. But anyway, they're getting it cut out and then I can get teeth. Oh, and then then you're gonna get teeth. Yeah. The Dennis here's gonna make my teeth. See right now, I got smokers yellow teeth. Yeah, and so the first is like Canuka made them yellow like my lower teeth. So now

only got three yellow teeth and whole upper yellow teeth. So I'm getting double set of white teeth after the surgery, which just sounds like an awful lot of work on that, And it sounds like you're gonna have to go through an awful light yourself, you know, recovery from surgery and all the rest of that. So I guess we won't be able to talk to you maybe for a while, talk to me until day comes. I'm praying that we'll talk to you after the day comes. Yeah, because that's what happened on

How are you? Good morning, Gary, Jeff. You know it's a principle of psychiatry that traumatic events in one's life don't shape one's psyche

or character, it's your reaction to them. During my recent adventure being poked and prodded and invaded my own manner of medical and surgical devices, I knew it was a battle, but that I have been given the tools to fight it by eighty years of love, direction, and encouragement from Christ's saints on Earth. It took me the whole month of March to turn these things around, get out of that hospital bed, and start a long recovery here at

home. It was my family's long history of March madness, you see. It was in March of nineteen fifty three. I was nine. My father was sixty three. I didn't even know that he existed, by the way, the family story was that he had died in World War Two. No, he was actually dying right now in a hospital in Atlanta, while I was in Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York City with kidney failure. I made

it. He didn't. So here I am in another Catholic Hospital seventy one years later, with an amazingly positive attitude, despite being told right up front that I have a pretty deadly form of abdominal cancer. When I turned eighty last year, I got philosophical. I wondered just how lucky I had been to get this far, when so many of my classmates, my soldier buddies, and much younger relatives sadly were long since gone. I'd been married to

a beautiful, red haired nurse for fifty seven years. Good thing. Married a nurse huh, had two great kids once they left home, six exceptable grandkids, and have held in my arms two great grandsons. As I wondered, what in the hell kind of world am I leaving these guys? I learned early in life to listen to grown ups, teachers, and priests. I went to live with my aunt and uncle when I was four. Aunt

Mary was a hard ass school teacher here in Ohio. She once heard me complain that I wasn't like the other kids who had the standard mother and father. She cut me short. Stop it right now, you're feeling sorry for yourself. Nobody loves you more and cares better for you than your uncle. And me. I never played the victimization card again. One Sunday after church, I made the mistake of telling Aunt Mary that my sausage patty was cold and I'm not going to eat it. She said I would, she won.

I didn't listen when she said that food was a gift from God. We don't waste it, and you will eat it, or we'll take it to Benediction this afternoon at church and talk to Father O'Brien about this, I challenged her. I wound up eating cold sausage in the vestibule of Immaculate Conception Church in the shadow of Jesus on the Cross. That's pretty much how I met Christ. By the way, there were those fourteen stations of the Cross

where a hero was put to death. I couldn't compare my humiliation and inability to look at sausage again for quite a while to what the Son of God was subjected to. It was a matter of justice, wasn't it. I really got into this Jesus thing, you know. I not only became an altar boy when you had to memorize your responses to the priest in Latin. I learned the priest's entire script in Latin hick astinum coli sunguitous may had a nice ring to it, all good and bad older boys. I snuck into

the mass wine. Later on in life, I got into Mogen David and realized that the Jews really no wine, and the Pope does not, or is taking money under the table from crappy ventnor's. I prayed, but almost always those formal prayers, you know, the Our Father and that stuff, never a real sit down with the Lord. Things were going pretty dog gone well, and whenever anything bad happened, like that kidney episode or the sausage, things just got better, seemingly on their own. I was still a

child many many decades later. So here I am in a striker bed at Mount Carmel Hospital at Glembus, Ohio, with plenty of time to remedisce on the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in the sport of life. This is a Catholic hospital, so there's a crucifix on the wall of every patient room. Since I managed to be an a whole bunch of these rooms, this time I see proof that Jesus Christ really is everywhere. Toward the end of my journey through sharp objects. I noticed that the cross on the

wall of my last room is missing. But I think I figured this miracle out. Jesus was saying, my work is done. Here you are healed, my son, go in peace. I related this joyous news to my nurse, but she said I had to stay another two days, and then she said she'd be glad to see me leave. I didn't exactly know how to take that, so plenty of time to pray. I just finished a book on German theologian ddre Bonhopper. He said the secret of prayer is not

to talk, but to listen. So I just let everything go dark. And the first thing that came up was one of my favorite quotes in life. The French Jesuit priest and noted scientists Tear des Jardin said, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Amen. Having gone to a Jesuit high school, I translate, we are eternal spirits just visiting Earth on a temporary visa, legal immigrants,

but not full led citizens. It was all coming back now. My college radio station closed the broadcast day with the Saint Francis prayer for peace. You've heard it once or twice. It concludes, Grant that I may not seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood, as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying

that we are born to eternal life. I got visited by my children and my grandchildren every day, and my wife was by my side throughout I I had I had never taken a shot across the bow. This closeness was something that had never happened to me. Even some of my relatives friends who worked at Mount Carmel, would stop them to see me. Tell Gond, I'm loved. I'm a lovable kind of guy who knew if there were heaven on earth, we wouldn't need heaven. But it's nice to have a taste of

heaven on earth, just to keep you focused. As for that shot across the bow, I'm hoping Churchill's comment about his service of the Boer War will apply to me. There is nothing sweeter than being shot at and missed. The battle is on, you know, Gary, Jeff. I thought of Aunt Mary and her shooting me down. One Sunday morning, when I was in the hospital, that news report came across concerning the tornado at Indian Lake, and this gentleman was on the screen. He was like sixty five or

seventy years old. His house had just been destroyed, and he was being interviewed and the reporter asked him, is everybody okay? And he said, well, no. I ran back into the house and my wife was dead. She had just gotten out of the hospital and she was in one of the back rooms and she died. And I looked at this and I thought to myself that Mary was right. There's always somebody who's worse off than you.

And I've been lucky as hell, and I've had a whole bunch of you people in the audience praying for me, and I pray for you. Yeah, right back at you and Gary Jeff, you've been wonderful throughout. I thought when I missed those four or five weeks, and I'll never be able to come back. You obviously found somebody which wouldn't be too difficult to take my place. God bless you, and God bless everybody, and onward and upward, folks. Bye bye, as all with Steve. Thank you

and God bless you. Rocky Year for but Herbert Motors, It's time to take back your land with a new John Deere Compact tractor. another hour of the Saturday morning. It is for this Saturday, June eighth, twenty twenty four, Garry, Jeff Walker and you together again? How about that? Five minutes after the hour before we get to Steve Shulty real quickly, Margo's been waiting so long to tell me that her building has had two fires this year, and I felt bad leaving her on hold but Margo, are you there. I am, thanks for taking my call. Okay, real quick, go ahead, tell me your story. Well it's not

a quick story. We kind of a fire in March of twenty two and a second fire in February of twenty three. There was a hearing at the courthouse, and of course five nine and twelve got the story one hundred percent wrong in favor of the defendants. Every one that lives through a fire, specifically in a high rise, once a sprinkler. But that's not the way five nine and twelve reported it. The dispute comes in on how the fifty

five million dollars insurance money is being spent. A million dollars a month, has been spent every month for over a year now, and their idea is to start at the top of the building and work their way down and not even repair the apartments that the fire department has condemned. We all want a sprinkler. And I don't know if you saw it on TV, but the woman Vanessa Denier, she has been recalled from the board, yet the board

members keep her there because she's so crucial. So what we want if we want our board to follow this state laws and our governing managed by our governing documents. We all want a sprinkler. State law and our declarations say that they're only allowed to approve any item over or under fifteen thousand dollars, well a sprinkler system and a loan that she has applied to, which I don't think we're getting because nobody in their right mind will looness eight point nine million

dollars for a three four million dollars sprinkler system throughout the building. We all want a sprinkler. I understand, Margot, and I wish I had more time to devote to this, but please consult an attorney. Jeez, I'm glad I took that call. Steve Shulty standing by, I see it truly is so great reads. I've seen them blue following here, and I think to myself what I want. I think everyone should have a sprinkler, even if they don't have a garden host. Good morning, mister Chelt. Sorry

about the delay. It's great to have you with us. A D Day just passed this past Thursday, and uh and you had a quick article on science and D Day that you would like to share some of with us. It came on, actually came got yesterday June seventh from one of your favorite organizations, Gary, you have to see it. To Coalition dot org and the subject to science and d day on June fifth question mark and it's by doctor Gordon Folks. He's PhD. Of physics and a member of the two

Coalition Board of Directors. And it goes on. He said, the invasion of Normandy would have occurred on June fifth were it not for a young Norwegian Air Force lieutenant by the name mess Peterson. He was persuaded Supreme Allied Commander Dwight Eisenhauer to postpone the invasion by one day. That was a decision that saved many lives and perhaps the success of the invasion, as we well know. What was amazing beyond the perfect forecast was that Ike would believe Peterson over

all his other American and British meteorologists. Peterson was a strong proponent of the science of meteorology rather than the art of weather forecasting. Most of the other meteorologists on Ike's staff argued by analogy to previous storms. Peterson, who had come from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology otherwise known as MIT, where he ran

the department of meteorology. My father studied under him prior to the war, but I did not know about Peterson's fame until after Peterson had become a professor at the University of Chicago. My father ran the Chicago Weather Bureau at the time. I was invited to Peterson's Chicago home for dinner about nineteen sixty. There on a wall was a small note that said, quote, thank you for your assistance with the invasion of Normandy quotes quote signed Dwight David Eisenhower,

Supreme Ally Commander. Although a superb politician, I understood that the merit and I respeat our repeat merit was far more important to the success of Operation Overlord than pleasing one of the many factions he had Peterson was, by all accounts, the most abrasive meteorologist on like staff, but he was also THEUS smartest. Eisenhower chose wisely. Now there was something else in the start real quickly.

We're running desperately short a time this morning from this article on animal DNA suggesting that the Arctic was warmer nine thousand years ago than it was than it is today. This came from the Heartland Institute Climate Change Weekly number five oh seven issued yesterday, and animal DNA suggests that the article was warmer in seven

thousand BC than present. Research by a group of Scandinavian researchers published in the journals Science Advances, found evidence in the form of bones that a number of animals currently native to warmer climates existed in the Arctic region nine thousand years ago, implying that the temperatures were there as warmer, warmer than today. And so this is interesting Gary Jeff because at that time, based upon the information we know, CO two levels were much lower than they are today, but

yet apparently warmer. And since there was no evidence of human activity, the scientists concluded that the bones could not have been deposits there from humans over time. And of course, once again this inconvenient nature of the findings are largely ignored by mainstream drive by media well, of course, because they can't continue to generate billions of dollars in grants and studies if they don't tell us that the world is going to end because we're using fossil fuels. Thank you,

Where are you and what are you doing? Hey? Garice, how are you doing? I am in Austin, Texas right now.

I'm working with the Spartan Decca Crew. Now Spatan Decca is ten zones of absolute ruling strength and endurance, and so we're we're down here in Austin and uh and I wanted to talk to you about a well a dehydration and chronic a dehydration because it's going to you know, it's like summertime now and and it's starting to get hot and people are going to be exercising. But there are most people, right about eighty percent of the population is chronically dehydrated.

And so so I want people to think about chronic a dehydration is really not about fluids. It's about the minerals and the way that your body transfers oxygen into the tissues. That's why we get cramps, That's why we feel fatigued, that's why we feel like like we get beat up after after a

workout outside in the seat. So I want people to, you know, to to understand that you have to get your phosphorus, you're so your potassium and as specially your magnesium, because you know, are those minerals help help other transfer of oxygen into your tissue and you won't cramp and you won't and you don't feel fatigued. And then when you take in your fluids, because fluids are are are actually the delivery system are that helps with those minerals.

Okay, so I mean, are there any particular fluids you would recommend that contain higher levels of those minerals that you're talking about that are necessary to prevent dehydration. Well, anytime that you take in you know, like well of water and you know water in general, but you know literally mineral water, there would be a good idea, like the Ice Mountain water that's out there. There are certain waters out there that I wouldn't. I wouldn't uh I

take it in right now, like Fiji water has been. They had a big recoil on their water. So, oh I didn't. I love I love Fiji water. It's delicious. What happened? Yes, so know why uh there was a recoill? I forget if it was uh a salmonella or like there's some some uh so salmonella. Salmonella is not a required mineral. Those Apollo capsules weren't weren't huge. But I mean, if you gotta go, you gotta go. It's, as Shrek says, better out than in. Well,

but anyway, we'll get to the topic. Was this week it came out and this is iroight, they came out of Washing Post. Was the the CDC got and this cost us? This this this almost ruinous kind of costs millions of dollars. This this this stupid rule that CDC came out with, and when the COVID hit was six foot distancing rule, right, Oh,

is the one that there was no science behind exactly this. And of course the Washington Post like we're the you know, they're the ones that propagated all this, you know, help even the Francis Collins, the NIH person and and the Faucy testimony. This week, it just it just sort of appeared. Nobody wants to see DC, nobody wants to own up. Who where did to come note, We don't know. It just appeared. It just came out of nowhere, and it became a guideline. We're going to do

six foot. We're not gonna let you go see your your sick relatives in the hospital. You can't go to the funeral, you can't. I mean, it just destroyed people's lives. Because they went to the virtual learning. Oh you know, you can't just can't go to school again, you know, blah blah.

I mean, well, when well, particularly with Fauci, when people say, and he said at one point, I am science. If you question me, you're questioning science. Because I am science. You must be a Republican. And it just I mean, what people don't understand is how badly he failed when he first came onto the national stage as the person who was going to cure AIDS and come up with a vaccine. He never did.

And in fact, if you look at what happened with HIV and AIDS and Anthony Fauci, he was a strong proponent of AZT, which wound up killing more AIDS patients than AIDS itself. This is a guy who have failed up constantly, has one of the highest pensions in the history of our federal government, and is worth eleven million dollars after COVID because of all the money he got from kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies, which he denied. People say, well,

he's a doctor, he's a doctor. Well. Doctor Joseph Mengela of Adolf Hitler's third Reich was a doctor Shae Guevera, who was responsible for killing thousands of people in Cuba under Castro was a doctor. The hipocritic oath says, first, do no harm, Anthony Fauci, you should have read it more closely. There's my rant and meako, but my hands are clean. I don't know where that came from. I know. He was at Hoodie and the Blowfish last night, so he missed the exciting electricity of another Reds winning baseball contest against the Chicago Cubs at Great American Ballpark at sixth in a row. Nick know this, and I'm going to talk to more about this. Liam. This is exactly why Nick Lodolo was missed so badly. Last season, another stellar start by him, six innings of seven strikeout baseball held the Cubs at Bay

and just and not a lot of runs, but there was excitement. De la Cruz gets on base and once again he steals another base last night and sets up that two run rally I believe in the fourth inning, Yeah, and Spencer Steer I heard it was a drop third strike, Yes, and he got to first base. That allowed Tyler Stevenson with two outs to bring both runners in. Yeah, first and third. And Steer is no slouch

on the base paths either. So when Stevenson rocketed that all the way to the left field wall, that just line shot in the fourth Steer all the way around, and Elie de la Cruz, who was on third, just kind of trotted home. And then he's waiting at home. It wasn't the third base coach who was wind milling Spencer Steer in. It was Elie de la Cruz going, come on, man, you can do it, you can do it. It was great. Yeah, baseball's a lot more fun

when you're winning. The energy has definitely completely changed over the last two weeks. Over this wind Street. It's been fun to see, like in Colorado the Rally Reds. I mean that last the sweep the Colorado Rockies. That game was amazing. I tell you who else is amazing, even though many like you have pooh poohed her debut and the WNBA after a rough little start.

As our friend Kaitlyn Clark. Yeah, the Indiana Fever got their third win of the season with that eighty five eighty three victory over the winless Washington Mystics. Kaitlyn Clark had thirty points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Amazing. She is amazing, and plenty else going on. We got college baseball Tennessee volunteer stand one went away from the College Baseball World Series. Correct. Yeah, they host Evansville today with a chance to go. They played

Evansville yesterday and beat them. The Super Regional you play a series cares one team? All right? Cool and the Kentucky Wildcats. The Backcats host Oregon State starting tonight. All right. The NBA Playoffs or underway the finals. Boston is leading that series one to nothing. Correct. Celtics are up one to zero on the Mavericks after a blowout one of seven eighty nine win Thursday night. Game two tomorrow in Boston than at eight pm. Anything else on

the radar? Oh, the Memorial In Dublin. Scottie Seffler leads Victor Hoveland by three strokes in Dublin tonight, the Reds play at four to ten, First pitches at three ten, and rabbits on the mound for the Reds ben bound from the Cubs. Listen right here on the Home of the Red seven hundred ww very good. How much time do I have here? Three? A minute and a half. That's it? Okay? Well, I wanted to quickly mention we have someone new in the producer's studio this morning. Her

name is Kenzie. She is a student at you see. She someday she aspires to be in television sports, and this is a fine platform to start at least get a taste of the broadcast business. Kenzie, how have you found your experience to be so far this morning? I'm sorry? Could you repeat that? Yeah? How has the experience been so far this morning? Oh? Good? Do you have any highlights you'd like to harken back to to this point? What about? What did you think about Mama Tree?

She seems very nice and her discussion of her twin brother who was born into her face and that never made it out of the wom Yeah, that's crazy. I don't think i've heard that like before. Anything else come to mind instantly that you've gleaned this morning, anything you want. I loved her singing too, that was a very nice touch. I think I think you mentioned to Liam that if you had just tuned into the radio and heard that,

it would have been an unusual Yeah. I think I would have been very confused if I was just scrolling through and heard that on the radio, But I probably would have stayed to figure out what it was. I think a lot of people feel that way, and they even listen every week and they're still confused. Well, thanks for being here this morning, and I hope it's been a fine at least. Yeah, I think you all right.

So anyway, and somebody else for us to corrupt. I guess coming up on eight to thirty gifts from Wally and then Moe Egger joins in plus Mike Allen before nine o'clock, and then we'll get onto the after the show show at Huddles. It's seven hundred WLW the Saturday morning edition, and yes it continues. This is Pro bowlis Shawn Merrimant. Here's What's trending from the Ihearsports

Network presented by Mercedes Benz. Despite being one of the best and most recognizable women's basketball players in the world, reports are the Team USA will not have key Leck Clark on their roster for the Summer Olympics. Nick Ludolo strikes out seven Cubs and gives up just one run on the day as the Reds whin. They're six in a row, and the Bengals will have one of their preseason games nationally televised. Their third contest against the Colts will be aired on

Prime Video on August twenty second. I'm JD Hafern. Luxury SUVs now come with the luxury of Troy friend. Indeed, Oh, she's a gold digger well over town that digs on me. O da nay saying see you go? Did you see us? And win? No? Broke Nay saying see you go? Did you see us? And win? No? Broke b Happy forty seven to the man they call ya as in Kanye West, one of most favorites. Hey, mo, how about that? Oh that's great. I can't believe that Yay is forty seven. I can't believe that I'm

saying yay on the radio. I can't believe I'm listening to yay on your show. You never know what little little nugget you'll find on the Saturday morning edition with Gary Jeff Walker. Uh, and you never know what new way the Reds are gonna find to win games. Diaz made it interesting last night, and not the kind of interest I'm sitting there on the edge of my chair watching the game. Come on, man, do not blow this use.

There have been such a wonderful pitching performance by Nickolodolo, And isn't last night. Almost every start this year evidence of how much the Reds missed Nickolodolo last year. Oh yeah, Oh, absolutely goodness great. I feel like it's interesting. I had Stam look here on my show yesterday and he referred to him as the staff ace, and I that's obviously a subjective's title, But when I think that's based on it, Nicolodolo's best starts look better than

anybody else's best starts on this staff. That's no knock on anyone. It's no knock on Hunter Green or Angelaba or anybody else. But yeah, I mean when when he is healthy and he is on, he shows you the sort of picture he can be. And yeah, they missed him, and they missed Hunter Green as well, but they missed Nicklodolo dramatically. Last year he barely pitched and you know, fortunately his still on the injured list this year was very, very brief. When he has been on the mound.

I mean, he was awesome last night. You get a glimpse of the sort of pitcher he can be. And with this starting staff top to bottom, it's it's why this team is. It's why you can't roll them out. And you know, we said that two weeks ago and it kind of felt like the season was on the verge of slipping away, that they were at least getting good enough starting pitching that if the offense did come around,

this team could jump back into it. And that's exactly what's happened. And I think the biggest reason for optimism with this club over the next four months is you just expect the starting pitching to only get better because we know how much potential those guys have, and we know how much potential Nicklodolo has. The Baltimore Orioles are one of the best teams in the Major leagues right now, and they have built from within, primarily from it with in their system,

and the Reds have done the same. Do you see do you foresee a reason the Reds would look to bolster their bullpen if they're still in the running at the trade deadline. I don't know why they wouldn't. But how do they do that and what do they offer? Well, that's the thing. I mean. You know, first of all, they bolstered their bullpen last year at the trade deadline and acquiring Sam Mall, so you know, you can make your team better and not mortgage your future. It's great,

you know, the Breads. I wanted them to get a starting pitcher last year at the deadline, and a lot of us did because that was their biggest weakness. And Nick Krawl, you know, you could argue deserves criticism for not making the starting rotation better. But what he did was make a very sneaky move in acquiring Sam Mall, who has been awesome since he got here. Well, that bolstered the bullpen. It didn't cost them all that much, so you know there are guys like that that you can get that

aren't going to cost you all that much. I think the interesting scenario in baseball right now has to do with two teams that have, first of all, they're terrible, and secondly have players that I think you could pry away and not have to wait to the deadline. One is the MIAMAMR the Miami Runs, who have already traded Luisa Rise, maybe the best pure hitter in

baseball. They've got an outfielder by the name of Jazz chism If they're going to trade Luisa Rise, I don't know why they wouldn't trade Jazz Chisolm. And I don't know if you're Nick Krawl, why you wouldn't have already called them to ask what it would cost. The other team is the Chicago White Sox, who are historically awful. They have an outfielder by the name of Luise Robert who's been an All Star, who has years of team control on

his deal. Reportedly, they have shown a willingness to talk with teams about him. And if you're Nick Krawl, I would like to think you've already made contact with the Chicago White Sox. There is going to be a point, and maybe it's not this summer, maybe it's this offseason, maybe it's next summer. There's going to be a point where the Reds, if they feel really good about their collection of young players, are going to have to deal from a surplus. And I think you and I have talked about this

example before the last time, prior to twenty twenty. I guess that the Reds really went all in in the Winner of twenty eleven to twenty twelve. They went out and acquired Matt Lato's who was young, controllable, lots of upside. Say what you want about maybe how things ended here, but a guy who when he came to Cincinnati gave the Reds two really good seasons. To acquire him, the Reds had to give up three guys who would go on to become All Stars and a guy who would go on to pitch in

the World Series for the Kansas City Royals. Four guys. They gave up the Asmai Grandal in large part because they had Devin Mezaco. They gave up Yonder Alonso because they had Joey Vado. They gave up Bradurger or relief Picture

because they felt like they had a good Corps of relief pictures. And they gave up Edinson Volcaz because they had a really deep starting staff, and so there's going to be a point if you want the Reds to get better from the outside, whether it be with a bat, whether it be with a bullpen arm, whether it be with a starting pitcher, you're gonna have to give up something of value. The good news is the Reds have a lot of really good young players. They have a decent farm system. They've got

some guys that I think other teams would be interested in. But it's going to cost. And so that to me is one of the more interesting storylines about this franchise. When they finally get to a point where they feel like we're going to go acquire help from outside, what's it going to cost and what are they willing to give up? Because you're gonna have to give up

something of value. Speaking of the young players, I have really enjoyed watching Herda Bees and yeah, and just this last week, Blake Dunn comes up and last night he makes major contributions and had his first major league hit last night, and you know, he made it. He stretched into a double and he just never stopped. I love Blake Dunn. And you know, we've seen so little, it's a very small sample. We don't know if he's even going to stay with the club the rest of the year. But

mo that you want to talk about the young talent. You know that the Reds may or may not decide that they've got a you know, a plethora of and give up. But talk to me about hertabies and done real quick.

Well, you know, with those guys, producing big league talent isn't just about producing stars, right, You want to produce as many stars as you can, of course, But like for years, people have talked about the Cardinal way, right, So for forty years, the Cardinal Way has been you know, this system where the Cardinals just keep pumping out guys who, when they get to the big leagues automatically start helping, right, Very

rarely do they send players back. And you know, I used to have conversations with it Williams about this when he ran the club about you got to you gotta emulate that you got to develop a system where when guys get through your minor league system and develop the skills necessary to get to the big leagues. Once they get here, they fit in immediately. They have a skill set that they can apply immediately. They don't look like they're in over their

head. They look like they know how to play. Blake Done and Jacob Hurdabe's look like guys who know how to play. You know, her to Bee specifically for me, just his approach at the plate, his ability to get the ball to all fields. He's a good base runner. You know. He looks sort of silly losing a ball in the sun the other night, But I've seen that happen to a lot of guys in left field in the in the late evening, in a late afternoon at Great American ballparks.

I hate sacrifice bunting, but he laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt the other night that that led to a couple of runs, and Blake done the same thing. Are those guys going to be stars? No, But you need to produce role players. You need to produce guys who, when their time is is called, can contribute. And for all the height that guys like

Elie Dela Cruz and Matt McClain so many others get and deserve. To me, the Reds really will have transformed their organization when they can consistently call on the minor leagues to pull guys up that can add something and don't look like they're in over their head and look like they know how to play. And with Dunn and herdabes, I think you have primary examples of that. Dela

Cruz, by the way, one year in the big leagues. This week he celebrates byke not going a three run homer that was off the bat and out of the park in about a half second. And then last night again you know the magic of Dela Cruz is on full display. And all he does is he gets on base with a walk and then steals his record bass already the league leader in stolen bases. And here's what I love most about last night, mo is watching when Stevenson knocks that that double in the left

field corner and Dela Cruz is on third. He's at home in a heartbeat, but he is standing. It's not a it's not the like the third base coach. He's standing at home waving Spencer Steer and wind wheeling him. Then, is it is it unusual to you that a player so young has become And I feel like he's really becoming a leader in that clubhouse. It

feels like it feels like there's something magnetic about him. Right, Yeah, right, it just there are players like that where it just it feels like there's something about him that the players latch onto and gravitate toward, and you know, even feed off of. He's such a high energy guy. He really does play hard. He looks like the guys who just loves playing. I think players just naturally gravitate toward guys like that. I think you could

say the same thing about Jonathan India. You know, you talking to with Sam yesterday. His point was, you know, look, I don't think it's a coincidental India got going and then everybody else sort of followed in tow and I think he's a guy like that. I think Ellie's a guy like that. I think, you know, look, Ellie is not a finished product. We'd like to see him strike out less, we'd like to see

him make more consistent contact. But it is so much fun watching a guy harness his raw skill and evolve into a dude who I think is going to be an All Star and a guy who you alluded to looks like he's interested in being a leader of the club at just twenty two years old. It's not It can be frustrating at times, as it is with all young players, but man, for the most part, it's a lot of fun.

Yes, it is. As a friend of mine, his father used to say, well, they misused the word athleticism, because athleticism at its root means an enthusiasm for athletics. He has that. He has that an enthusiasm for athletics. So he is very, very high on the athleticism charts in my books. Who are the best traveling fans in the Major League? Are they the Cubs? Are they the Yankees? Who travels the best? Because this weekend, of course, we got lots of Cubs fans, many of

them coming from Chicago or from that area. Who do you think are the best traveling fans in the major leagues? Well, I think a lot of those Cubs fans don't travel very far. My guess is. You know, if you remember when I was a kid and when you were younger, the Cubs were on television every day at two twenty right WGN. And so, first of all, I think them in the Atlanta Braves they cultivated a lot of fans in certain parts of the country where maybe they didn't have a team

because they were on TV every single day. I know Indianna is a huge Cubs country, huge Cubs territory, so I could imagine there are a lot of people who come see the Cubs. More economical, a little bit easier to come to Cincinnati than perhaps going to Chicago. So like, do they travel well? Sure? I don't think you know. To me, travel well is fans that routinely travel a great distance. I'm always amazed by the number of La Dodger fans who are at Great American Ballpark when they're here.

You know, they were here just two weeks ago and the Reds swept them, which was great. But whenever the Dodgers are here, look there, they're three time zones away, right, obviously a huge national brand. I'm I'm always taken aback by how many Dodgers fans. And then the other one is in part because of TBS and in part because they have such a huge footprint in the South where there's no other team. The Atlanta Braves always have

a billion fans here. But again, you know TBS, I know people who live here who are Atlanta Braids fans because they're on television every day, Which leads me to one of the great what ifs of all time, and your friend Andy Furman has talked about it. In the mid eighties, had Marge shot bought Channel sixty four and May to Day superstation and put Reds games on like Atlanta Braves games were on TBS, like Cubs games. We're on WDGNA, like Met's games, We're on WLR. Who knows what this fan

base and this franchise would look like. No question, and one last thing, We're tied on time. But I'll just leave you with this comment. If I was a cop and I'd arrested Scottie Scheffler, I would ask him about playing with Tiger Woods too. Have a great weekend, mo, counselor how are you? Mike Allen? Coming up next Saturday midday? And what's on the show, Mike. We're going to talk about Biden's feckless executive order this week on the border. Oh what a sham that would allow nine hundred

thousand people and boy, that's going to help a lot. Also going to talk to Kevin Burton of Strategic Advisor. There's two new polls out this week, Gara Jeff that were really favorable to Trump. I know the guilty verdict did not hurt him one bit. Yeah. Well I think I said God Bless Donald Trump last week and somebody called and said, why would you say that? He's a convicted fella? You know, you know the answer to that is what So yeah, really, that's that's the answer right there.

It is after the show show at Huddle's Cafe. If you want to swing on by, we'd love to see you there and enjoy the rest of the weekend and let's get another Red's win today at GABP seven hundred WLW and Coyote Tractor. We hold her in the highest regard and we're digging up
