at seven LW. Today Elliott rearing the admiral's last day. He is going somewhere else to chatterbox Sports, which is I think an odd irony because when Elliott first started here he was anything but a chatterbox and we had to bring him out of his shell. But there you were stepping in for me, and thank you. That was That was an emergency I had before the top of the hour. I won't go into it because it's t m I and nobody needs to know, but it was an explosive situation and felt like C

four or plastics or something like that. So thank you very much for stepping in. It was an honor. Dave from Harrison has not called us this morning. They better call in on my last day, on your last day, he had. He had his buddy in from upstate New York. I saw them at the Crow's Nest on Wednesday. Another Dave, oddly enough, and yet another Dave, Dave from Dayton gave me Dave from Harrison jokes, Elliot, what do you call a lazy physician? I don't know, doctor

I'm sorry to hear. You're tired of hearing that.

Yeah, he said this week. This week's over. Well, I mean the week ahead is what he's said. Okay, all right, thank you brother, all right, love you bye. The lovely lady Lynette. Finally check it in seven hundred wlw Elliott. It's eleven minutes after six, and you know what we do with eleven minutes after six on a on a Saturday morning, Elliott, do you have any idea my co host is going m I A. his I'm back actual job. I'm back. Sorry, Rick, I had to cut you off just then. I'm here, Gary, Jeff, what do we do with eleven minutes? After six? We take a break right home. Baby, you're gonna get the hang of this before you leave today. That's awesome. Hey, kids, time for another story from Uncle Willie's Big Book of Great Americans Today. Brothers Peter and Thomas McDonald. In eighteen ninety eight, they worked in a bar next to the Hall of Justice in

San Francisco. Lawyers would stop in and tell them about their clients could not afford the bail. Now brothers started loaning these people bail money for a fee, of course, and became the first commercial bail bondsman. So, kids, if you ever need a bail bond money, thank Peter and Thomas, two great Americans like me. You can be a great American too. Listen to Bill Cunningham Monday at twelve noon on seven WLW. like. But it's looking forward to it. And Dave from Harrison Dave, Yes, yeah, what what's up besides you? Now, besides you? Now what happened there? Buddy? Um, beauty actor, beauty rest. Yeah it's not working. Um I figured maybe you were up late with your buddy Dave who was visiting from upstate New York. Uh well, um they went back. But yeah, I was up a little late. Yeah yeah, okay, a little I expect. Ay that's what I needed. Sorry,

I'm sorry. I want Yeah, happy Mother's Day to you, no to you to your happy happy uh send off morning to the Admiral the Rear Admiral. Thank you, Dave. You know, Dave, you've called in for a year now. I've worked on the show for a little over a year. You've never been late once and on my last day, on my last day, Dave, yeah, you're late. Well I know, but you know, by the way, Elliott, Elliott, good use of the

pregnant pause that Dave overuses every time he calls. There's there's a reason, there's a reasons, you know, like um, like my dad, I don't know if I ever told us, but my dad was my dad was a conjoined twin. I don't know if I ever told us. Um, so his brother was my uncle on my father's side. Dave, what one is the loneliest number? And that's all we need from you this morning.

Goodbye, Ray in Loveland, Good morning, how are you, my friend, Gary, Jeff, good morning, brother, good morning, Good morning Elliott. And I just want to say, first of all, apologize to Rick. I jumped in front because I was trying to pinch hit for an uncle ed here and Dave has just messed up my whole timing the entire day. Just so you know that you Ray, you've listened to this program long enough to know that Dave does not understand timing whatsoever. The world order has

been disturbed. But I'll be quick and I apologize Rick. But Elliott, you know, I don't know if you knew realized when you came to be there with Gary Jeff that you have you ever heard of? And get your phone ready for this because I'll need some help probably so of the Cradle of coaches? Have you ever heard the Cradle of coaches? The Cradle of coaches? I'm doing my impersonation of Elliot here. The cradle of coaches is right down the road at the Miami University known to Gary Jeff and I and our

heir, the Miami Redskins Football. That's true. And there's quite a coaching tree. Off the top of my head. Without the benefit of my phone, which is the flip phone, I can tell you that this is the coaching career was started and launched in large part of one Woody Hayes, well, Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, and Bo schem Beckler, and I believe several others. So the coaching tree there is quite an impressive one. You might call it the mother of all coaching trees. It truly is well and

there's more to it there. But but Gary Jeff, you know I refer to you as number twenty six instead of Elliot a lot of times because I think you're the twenty sixth producer that Garry Jeff's head he has. You are now part of the world famous Gary Jeff coaching tree, so to speak. Oh, Gary Jeff, you might rail off a couple of those names there. You've got a well moe Egger first and foremost. Elliott respects moe Egger as we all do. Um the Great so or the soon to be great

Austin Elmore. And when I say soon to be great, it's because he has the gravitational pull of Jupiter now for some reason which Elliott understands. Flash get Flash a break. No, I mean there have been a lot of Matt Steinman. I could Russ Jackson the third, who's no longer with us, and I don't mean he's departed as far as I know, but no longer in the area. But there have been a lot of truly great producers I've been blessed to work with, and Elliott is now joining that list.

And I know he's going to do great things, not due to his association with me, but because he has the talent that I saw when he was reading like an NPR host doing sports, and I said, no, no, no, he is he is destined for greater things than that, and he is finally realizing that Ray, and that is a joy to me. Old Radio Rick, hang on, We'll be right back with you as we continue on Elliott Rearings last day on seven hundred WLW. I'm doing my best

to better myself. That's why I'm taking this learn at home dentistry course. My wife's a real sport. Hold on, dear who That's also why I listened to Scott Sloan. He discusses the stuff that affects me and my wife. Isn't that right here? Huh? Look, I'm about the real stuff. Yeah, the problems and the issues that actually affect you. But I also make sure we have a little fun along the way. It never hurts

to better yourself, does it? Dear Chet count Sloaney Monday morning at nine on seven d WLW, and be sure to catch his podcast on the iHeart Radio apps back. He is not available on gas in New Jersey. In Wisconsin, Billy your gas lights on. We need real quick Gary Jeff. Before I get into this, there have been a group of people that have followed me right now on your show. They've listened to every show for a year now. So I'm gonna shout out three people, mister Bryan Seltzer,

my grandparents, and my uncle Frank Voinovich. They have listened to you every day for a year. We have loved being a part of your show. And here we go. Sports, It's funny on my last day. The Cyclones they get swept by the Walleye. They get outscored twenty two to seven. In the series they get obliterated nine to two, and and and Gary Jeff, get this. The Lakers they have eliminated the Golden State Warriors in six games. Elliot rearing seven hundred WLW sports horrible, I don't know.

I fucking go on old radio wreck. Are you there? I am, sir, Good morning. I'm having a tough time. The Cyclones have been swept out of the Kelly click up and Lebron James goes on to the Western Conference Finals. Oh god, how can I even continue? Well, I've got your coward man, you are. Elliott's last show is coming in five by five on a nineteen fifty seven Grundick Majestic USA Export Model ten eighty eight. This is a from West Germany. Yes, kids, that used to

be a thing. It's a six two radio. It's one of those beautiful big European models AMFM and short wave, and it sounds fantastic. It's got a big oval speaker in the front and two electrostatic speakers on either side. Many have argued electrostatic speakers are the closest to sounding real of any type of speaker that exists. And interestingly enough, they're kind of the flat screen TV of the speaker world. They're very thin, and they're just little squares,

don't have a lot of base response. They deliver a lot of them when they work. Oh yeah, and the engineers that designed these radios were brilliant. Unfortunately, the boss's nephew apparently designed the power supply. So once again you open it up and you have that smell of oh something bad happened that don't see as I now you worked on several of these Grundiggs from West Germany. Uh, they are marvelous, marvelously engineered radios right as you just say

they are. And as a matter of fact, there were many other brands, most from Germany, but there were other other European countries as well that produced them. Of course I owned several of them. But it's just like the very first referral I got from you, Nick and eland Um. That's another West German modeled, different company, but it looks pretty much the same. And one other cool thing about this one that's got the eye tube, but it doesn't look like an alien eyeball. It's it looks like a neon

blue version of the Chinese finger torture thing. Oh if there were a better example of the difference between communism and everything that's not capitalism. The radios made in West Germany compared to radios that may or may not or never were made in East Germany is all you need to know about which system is better. And I've got one of those, and you are not joking. I know I'm not. Old Radio Rick, thank you, and Elliott appreciates you too. On his last day, Old Old Radio Ric at gmail dot com to

get in touch at Great Parks. Conservation is at our core. It's why we've planted more than one hundred Well, good morning and happy Saturday, tempters, as you kick things off, You're right around that sixty degree mark, and yeah, you're dealing with some showers and storms, especially throughout the first half of your Saturday. Good news is it does look to diminish a little bit in the afternoon, but you're gonna need that umbrella handy all throughout the

day, expecting an afternoon high ride around eighty degrees. Certainly a muggy feel out there. Tomorrow from Mothers Day looking a little better. Scattered showers not quite as abundant though, with tempters reaching the upper seventies. From your severe Weather station, I'm nine First Morning Meteorologists Cameron Harden on News Radio seven hundred WLW. Very muggy heading out the door, sixty six degrees right now in

Cincinnati. I'm Sandy Collins. Next update at seven News Radio seven hundred WLW News twenty four hours a day. It was a radio seven hundred W l W. I'm toasted you sitting honey, we made me throw You'll never care me complete whiskey round. Taking a lovely ride eastbound on Highway fifty two on the Ohio side along the Great Ohio River from Hamilton to Claremont to how Now, Brown County to the village of Ripley, Ohio, and a place called

Brookies on a Saturday morning. Good morning gang. Oh, you guys sound like you're in a good voices always first and foremost, I did Lisa make it today? We are here and I brought the honor amoric Ripley with listeness Dinah. She insisted on getting up early and coming down with him. I

don't know if you were paying attention previously, but apparently Lisa was. And a few other people behind this effort to raise money for the trees in Ripley had a mayoral race for their associated dogs, and Lisa's dog, Dinah, was the top vote getter. As Joseph Stalin, the horrible Communist leader of the Soviet Union, used to say, it's not who votes, it's who counts the votes. So I'm figured the fix was in on that Lisa.

Well, well, several weeks ago when we went down star Race, when you insinuated that she was a carpetbagger, kind of a kin to h Hillary, Dina said, it's on now, it is on, Mom, we gotta win this, Okay, I got you. So, So what's going on? What's going on at Brookies? This weekend. What's going on in Ripley, Ohio? This weekend? Ripley's gonna be this exciting this Mother's Day weekend. Tonight we have an awesome band called H and R Rock from nine

to one our lovely Brookie. And then tomorrow afternoon bring your mom all down to rock and roll a little bit with a new band called Rewind from three to six TM. I'm gonna put an extra plug in on this when my old man's that's my old Man's new band. And Monday, our Queen of Hearts drawing will be close to seventy five thousand now the drawings m and come on out of her body. Well get a chance, you know, I'm thinking that if it's a possibility, Chris to two point oh, and I

could be there Monday. Oh, maybe you'd be the guest picker. Well what if? What if? I? What if I was the guest picker and I picked the winner for me? It's kind of it's kind of like Lisa's dog winning the mayoral election that she set up herself, isn't it, Sherry? What's what's what's the weather forecast? Sherry? But I find the rock to day and it was kind of speckled. So I think we've got some spotting showers in the next couple of days. But uh, anyway,

it's gonna be a little damp. Just have to run between the drops, all right, Well, say hi to mom and them, and we'll see y'all soon, Okay, all right, bye Elliott, Bye bye, seven hundred w W Cincinnati, available everywhere with the iHeartRadio app number one podcast Day seven hundred WLWF and iHeartRadio station. Here that that's the sound of students flexing the skills. Day whether rock, chance for rain pretty much all through the

weekend, greatest chances and possibly some thunderstorms. Actually today I around eighty Tomorrow on Mother's Day, a slight chance of those showers and thunderstorms against seventy seven and Monday showers likely early then clearing out and cooling off a tad. It's sixty seven and here again the four mentioned Elliott rearing seven hundred of WLW sports. So, Elliot, are you enjoying your last day? I am? And by the way, you missed a notable birthday on your list of birthdays?

Oh who is the one you missed? You missed one? Whom me? Today's your birthday. Today is the day of my birth twenty four years ago. This is you know what. You've mentioned this to me earlier in the week, you said, and besides, it's my birthday, this will be a big day. Well, happy birthday. And now you know the reason that I brought you that delicious cheese danish from the Cookie Jar Bakery in downtown Newport, Kentucky. It was so MoMA Street. It was so good.

They're all was sold out, but you know what, at four or fifteen in the morning, they're not sold out, So I got a bunch of Inn't that delicious? It was the best. It was probably the best thing I've ever eaten. I'm not gonna lie. That was so good. And I should have included the little birthday candle, but that would have been really cheese. I was trying to listen back to some of my old sports reports. They were rough, Gary Jeff. I think the first week or

so, worst first month. They weren't great, Gary Jeff, I sounded like you said, I just sounded like a robot. I mean, wasn't great and not a highly developed robot either. No, No, all right, all right, real quick, some sports, Gary Jeff. Sports, Yes, MLB scores. Mariners, they crushed the Tigers nine to two. Orioles they beat the hapless Pirates. Stink Pirates have lost ten of eleven. Orioles beat them six three. Yankees they hold on to defeat the Rays six

to five. Mets come back to destroy the Nationals, uh and the hapless Athletics. They just hit a walk off three run jack at two am in the tenth to beat the Rangers nine seven. What about our Reds, buddy, they're on, they're in a streak. Break them up. They were. I think they've won six to ten. I think, honestly that's right. The Reds to defeat the Marlins seven to four. Since April twenty fourth, the Cincinnati Reds have the best record in their in their division. Yes,

yes they do. Then the bullpen, by the way, has been phenomenal. We have now a top nine bullpen. And I guess i'll I'm partially to blame for that. I said they were horrible, their top nine bullpen. You know, you weren't the only one that said they were horrible. They've been horrible for the last three seasons. That's true. What that's true. Jake Fraley hit two home runs, including the go ahead three runs shot in the ninth inning to take the lead seven four. We beat Miami.

They're back at it at one ten. Nicoladolo has been scratched. He was scratched lately night. He's been dealing with probably being trained by that guy at Louisville at Churchill Downs. It's a good thing he's not dead. Yeah, yeah, the game. The game is at one ten. Our coverage begins at twelve forty right here on seven hundred WLW. Cash back is not available on gas in New Jersey. That'd be me and Elliot rearing. That would be him, Eliot, are you there? I'm always here. Our next guest is a regular contribute tour and he gets paid almost as much as you do, Elliot, which is why you're leaving. But he is steadfast, and he is here with another FIFTHI phone calling News

of the Week who is this Elliott on the line. This is Steve from It Now, Good morning Steve. Hey, by the way, Elliott, David Robinson just called me up and said, what the hell right does that guy have calling himself the admiral. Okay, let's get that out of the way. The eight hundred pound elephant in the room is asking this week,

maybe Joe Biden wants us to default on the debt? Ever think that he might have a plan to replace the dollar about or just yes, or just to repudiate the debt as he did with student loans that worked out really well. Yes. The Magic Mystery Tour Award this week goes to Treasury Secretary and former Fed Chief Janet Yellen. She goes not to Capitol Hill, but to jump Hand to lecture on the crying need for debt relief to avoid default. She says, I love this. We've increased the deb at eighty times since

nineteen sixty, so it's no big deal. Hey, Janet, turn that statistic around. What does eighty times really tell us it's gotten down a hand lady? Why tell the Japanese this? Why? Because default means the end of the dollar probably and opens the door to a Chinese based world currency. I think that's why she went over there. And the Japanese have to get along with the Chinese, so do we? Yeah, can't build chips without the Chinese. But Chairman Joe in DC as already in China's back pocket,

Janet, did you ever think of that? Speaking of the Biden crime syndicate, those excuse me, those bank records implicating ten members of Joe's family. Did they report that to the IRS. The banks have to and the recipients have to do it too. Did the IRS forensic accountants, that's crime people report that to the FBI? I think they do have to. What happens

when the US to falls right away? Well, we have to pay a higher rate on our borrowings internationally because those lenders see greater risk lending to us buying our bonds. That's what happens. What the hell is the mystery here, folks? By the way, Hunter Biden, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree award, you know, he reminds me of evil and Harper's comment on two and a half Men, God gives us children, so death won't come as such a disappointment. Speaking of mothers on Mother's Day, don't

forget to salute Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Rarely, if ever, is she quoted in the Bible, which I find amazing, but known throughout the football world as Hail Mary. You know she deserves more than that. Don't you think Some mothers claim their kid can walk at age one. Mary's kid could at age one walk on water Jesus. One your phenom nothing and the other one I want to mention is I love this lady Eleanor of Aquitaine. She had ten kids at a time when women routinely died in childbirth.

All ten lived. She lived to be eighty. Man, you could bounce that uterus off a wool, can't you. The only person, thank you doctors out there, the only person ever to be Queen of France and later the Queen of England. She provided us two kings of England, whom she said were duds. Good Mommy, they did suck. I love a mother

who is just straightforward and tells the truth. So Elliott, I just want to say, at the end, David Robinson, the Admiral, I thought, all these weeks, you know, when you were stealing his nickname, this kid doesn't deserve it, and but you know what you do deserve it. Thank you, thank you, Heay carry yourself, you too, Steve. Thanks Steve. I'll tell you what, Elliot, if you remember only one thing from that conversation outside of the kudos and lauds, Yeah, that's

a uterus. You could bounce off a wall. I want you to remember that. On Mother's Day weekend, it's six fifty one. It's seven w l W for Adolph with moderates the beer plex arise. If you get a chance here in the next little while, I know she's got the forty one Philco all fired up. There we go. Brooksy is waiting. The cat dog is waiting for mo to come on the radio. Elliot, this is the most incredible thing. I'm obviously never there to see it. Okay, I've got to get her to snap a photo of it. The cat sitting in

front of the Philco only when MOA is on. Yes, he will be on the couch with her listening or not listening. The second he hears Moe's voice, the cat come down off the couch if he's awake and sits in front of the filco in front of the radio and listens to And when mo leaves and the show's over, he walks away. That's I wonder what it is. Do you think it's the tone of his voice? Something about Moe's voice, Brooksie the cat dog loves so much. Moe does have a beautiful

voice. Now he's not had the same reaction when you're on the air, So I'm sure he's hiding somewhere right now since you've been on the air a great deal this morning. I don't know, but Chris to two point zero, if you get a chance to call in, please do. On Elliot's Last Day. Yes, and see, my wife has been married to me long enough to understand that she has to turn the radio down or off when she's on the phone. She understands that much. Many listeners do not.

I found a lot of great advice on how to quit smoking and picked out the ways I thought would work best for me. I started by setting a quit date. Then I

threw out my ashtrays, lighters, and matches. I did other things too, like exercising more, and it worked, but I'd still get cravings, especially on long car rides. To help me with that, I put a picture of my mother in my car. She died of lung cancer from smoking cigarettes when I was only sixteen. Now I have a sixteen year old daughter. What a day our friend environmental engineers, Steve Shelty says, In fact, indeed it is Steve Shelty, good morning. How are you better than I deserve? Gary Jeff, than Elliott the happy birthday and wish you the best as you go on the rest of your life. Thank you so much, Steve, Thank you. What do we got this morning?

Steve? What we got again? From the Heartland dot org The Weekly Climate Update four hundred and seventy, article title physics is why renewables can't power modern economies? And we already see in part of that, Gary Jeff, because across the Great US, the number of blackouts and brownouts has gone up up dramatically. We've doubled the number in just six years. So this is kind of a you know, a little bit of taste of what's happening.

But here's some things that are goal points out and why we are being sold a bad bill of goods to meet you A current US demand wind turban wind turbans the queensand Arts of the air would have to cover one third of the continental United States and solar panels or we if we want to use solar panels, that have to cover more than twenty percent of the of the United States.

And that's for current demand. We're being told, and I've seen this in many many places, that demand is the double by two thousand and fifty, when we're supposed to be at net carbon zero. So you know, do the math, you know, the wind turbans or solar panels everywhere.

To reach net zero globally by two thousand and fifty would require the deployment of approximately one thousand, five hundred new wind turbans covering three hundred square miles of land each day starting back in October one of twenty nineteen through January one to twenty fifty. So it's too late, it's too late. At the same time, countries would have to retire an equivalent amount of fossil fueled power plants.

And that I reported last week Gary Jeff. Coal use. While we're shutting down coal plants around the world, particularly in Africa and Asia, coal plants are coming online and more are coming as planned. There's an interesting one. If we have a hundred times growth and a number of electric vehicles from about four million today to four hundred million in two thousand and forty, displace

only five percent of oil demand. And then if we want that, you know, we're be an asked that renewable energy would have to expand ninety times to replace hydrocarbons around the world in two decades. It took fifty years Gary Jeff for global petroleum production to go up only ten times. Well, it just shows you that the people who tell you they're all about the science have no idea what they're talking about. Because this is eliminated hydrocarbons in the production

of US electricity would leave untouched seventy percent of our hydercarbon use. And then here's a good one, and the kind of these are two related batteries. You know, we've been told for when solar we have to now have backup batteries. Right, sun doesn't always shine, wind doesn't always blow, so we needed backup batteries. The batteries produced each year at the Tesla Giga factory, which is the world's largest battery factory, isn't down in Austin, Texas.

In fact, my daughter was down there about six weeks ago. Because the companies who works for a certain equipment anyway, can store only three minutes worth of US annual electric demand. To make it up batteries to store two days worth, which is you know a lot of people say that's what you have to have online be able to do. Yeah, the current electric demand would require one thousand years of production by this one factory. It's it can't be And Steve, I'm sorry, we we we must go. Time's up.

But this is all very important for people to know. Pure physics says we can't go without hydro carbons and fossil fuels. Oh, this is real quick, a real quick. Yet, Rob, if you don't mind, let's make it brief. But it's great to hear. This is Rob Carpenter, formerly of the seven WLW newsroom. Well, hey, how you doing, Gary, Jeff, Yeah, I'll make it quick. It's been a

Yes, ah, well he told me. He told me that he is. He's going to be certain her job later this month. So I thought, you know what, I'll give him a quick call just to say hi and and belated birthday or day's birthday? It's today is his birthday? How about that? How about

that? Well, hey, listen, don't be birthday Rob, don't be a stranger. Call call more often if you want. All right, all right, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll make yeah, all all right, you're talking to you. So well, obviously, so you you you wanted to talk. You wanted to talk about fat and the misconception of consuming fat.

Please do well, you know, there's so many misconceptions about fact that people and fats in general. And Susan Powly I used to say, stop the insanity. Fat makes you fat. And you know, there has never been a bigger lie that has ever been told or a bigger scam that has ever

been laid upon the American people about fat. And uh, my, my problem with it is that people need to be consuming good fats and and and there's really only for fats that I like to consume and uh and the fats uh that I consume on on a literal daily basis is is olive oil. I actually take in about a shot. Now, don't people out there, don't say, oh rockber takes a shot, I should take a shot now, start off small, a teaspoon tablespoon. But I do a shot of

of the olive oil every single day before I even start my day. And then uh, coconut oil, um and avocado oil, and then something called called mc tea oil now MCT oil. We are refined down from coconut oil, and MCT oil is a medium chain. Are triglycerides the medium chain are triglycerides are the are the really cool fats that excite your mitochondria, and your mitochondria are the are the little powerhouses of the cells. That's what creates energy

right ATP. In eighth grade of biology, you learned about the creb cycle, and you know um enodine triphosphate which is ATP and and it converts into energy. Well, mct oils and are also uh. Well, mcts are also in olive oil and uh and coconut oil also, but coconut oil has a launch trek list rights actually also. But the mcts are the magic bullet for fat burning, so you're actually taking in a fat that helps you to expend the calories and burn fats that's what's really cool about So these these good

these good fats. These mct oils are fats that help you burn fats. Oh what could be better than that? Listen, listen. I'm sorry we have limited amount of time in this space. I know that, but this is great information and I tell you what. Come by the bar someday. And by the way, Rocco Training with Rocco is a five nineteen Madison Avenue in Covington. This is the guy who's the one time more to lead down in Alabama, just into the studio at Muscle Shoals and Rose plays a song called when a Man Loves a Woman gives the rights of way to some guys in the band who doesn't make a penny from the record and had one of those careers, that great, great sound. He's in the Hall of Fames. He never made much money, but a great record, this song, these

songs, and it was an idea I had. I was just hearing this last weekend. I said, let's do songs by big artists that weren't necessarily their biggest songs, but they're great songs. They're kind of follow ups to the Great Songs, and up next a group that had a huge hit with Red rubber Ball Assault. Paul Simon penned that song, but they also had other hits and this was kind of a follow up to Red rubber Ball.

Tell me about this group and this particular tune. Jim Really Good group a band that was formed in Easton, Pennsylvania, rothe had College John Daniman and Tom Dawes, a couple of frat brothers got together in eastern Pennsylvania at the

college and a little frat rock man called Juan Dallas. And then we discovered by the Beatles manager the only group he managers in America, Brian Epstein, and he changed the group's name and they picked the name because it's a reference to the circular roundabout moon at Center Square in downtown east did him with the colleges and John Lennon came up with a unique spelling of the name, maybe the spell circle but s u nick spelling. And what makes this song so

good? Garry Jeff turned down days and they the song. It wasn't written by Paul Simon, but by Jerry Keller, who was known for There Come Summer Yah, yeah, well, Paul Paul Simon wrote Red rubber Ball. That's what I was saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. But this song is it was not a Paul Simon tell me they had a chance to do the fifty seven street Bridge song and they kind to turn that down, so they did this song. Jerry Keller did Here Comes Summer and

you know, kind of a bubble gum kind of thing. He wrote this song. Well, what makes this song so good, Jerry, Jeff is the actual chord progression, plus the melody, the lyrics. You're adding some perfect vocals, a sitar too, pianos and the result is a song by

a great song by an underwated band from from that period. And the vocals John Daneman, guitar players, guitar player, comonica player, and the Tom Dawes that leaved in that great bassline in the song cast in that player and the bass player and the drummers More be Freedom and uh this is this is a group of Open for the Beatles discovered Bibi and if Steaming Opening for the Beatles in nineteen sixty sixth on that final Schooler Circle and a turn down Day

Now, Jimmy, you mentioned Don Danoman. He just recently turned to eighty, did he? Not exactly exactly? And he's still out there. He still has a band called The Circle, and he still

appears. Yeah, it's amazing. Up next on our list of other hits by big artists of the sixties, and U you chose this one and I love it? Yeah, Well, here's Dunovan. Donovan had big hit like Sunshine, Superman, Mellow Yellow. But one of the one of the big hits he had was that you don't hear Anymore it's hurdy Gurdy Man. Now. Hurdy Gurdy's an audi instrument resembling the an organ griders played by turning the crank and pressing buttons to play notes. And there's no hurdy gurdy on this

record. Well, here's what happened. Here's the story. He was intrigued by the mushaishi mahi shogi and the teachings of transcendentlemanitation followed by the Beatles, and he went with the Beatles, and George's wife Patty Boyd, Centia Lennon

and Jane Asher stayed with the Mahaishi and then Relayers for three months. And for a while during that period, mea Pharaoh and her sister Prudence shared the little bungalow that was right next to his, and she of course inspired John Lennon the right to your Prudence. Well, hurdy gurdy Man was influenced by Gentleman said by the sounds he heard coming from that bungalow, whatever that was. Now there's no hurdy gurdy on the track, but there is a tambura,

which is an Indian instrument. Uh, there's a little bass sound to it in the bass instrument. And then George Harrison gave that the Dynoments a gift, so he wrote the song. Uh. I wanted to give it to Jimi Hendrix, his manager, Dynaman's manager Mickey Mose said no, no, no, you do it yourself. And you hear this, you know song, this writ he visited in his dreams by this hardy Gordon man in his close associate the roly poly man who comes these songs as well. Drugs

Brennaman and Jones on Baseball just add a few minutes and Jim the last on our list of other big hits. And these guys, the record companies were all betting in nineteen sixty two sixty three that they were going to be the big breakout

band from Britain, not the Beatles. As it turned out, the Beatles were the Beatles, and Jerry and the Pacemakers were kind of the forerunners, right Yeah. They were managed by Bryan Epstein and the Beatles manager and recorded by George Morton who took care of the Beatles. It hits how do You Do It? I like it, Don't let the Sun catch Your crying, very quest the Mersey but Matt quite the Beatles, But this this song. I absolutely love this song, this song. This is the first so I

played the song first show every day I played by Roy Hamilton. I loved the song. I love the message. It's the show too that they did

from Rogers and Hammerstein musical. There was none back in the forties, Carousel, and they recorded this song and became the football anthem of that Liverpool soccer team and it's the official model of the on the coats of arms the team that the song is sung by fans before the start of the game at home every game and it's played over the public address system by Jerry and the pacemakers. You'll Never walk Alone. It's become a tradition in Liverpool and in some

areas of the world. And we talked about this song during COVID You and I that this song became an anthem of support all over the world for medical staffs, first responders, that people in quarantine during the COVID the nineteen pandemic and summits a religious song. I always thought it was a religious song, and this is a song that talks about the hope and courage. This is

like a prayer. I love the pureness of Jerry Marston's lead book vocal nothing, there's no ego, there's no fancy styling, just the person singing, focusing on the message, not the delivery, and it resonates with so many people. Just such a real song and a song to lift you up in difficult times. If you feel hopeless, there's a caring voice out there reminding

Elliott,

are you there? Are you standing by? I am always standing by. Yes. It is kind of hard to sit and keep walking around. Get the air moving because it's interminably hot and so hot always. I don't know why it's so hot. Probably you're going through menopause at the age of twenty four. Maybe that's what it is. So it's time for Science Mike, and I know you enjoy the Science Mike segment, love it the Science Minute, So feel feel free to participate as we talk to Michael. Yes,

as a night scientist, A bit surprising if you go blinding me. Good morning, Michael. Have any words of advice for Elliot rearing going forward? Well, if he could just share something with the audience some of the topics he gave during his exit interview with HR, which is curious what he said. Unfortunately, we didn't do an exit interview. No exit interview here. I handed in my Really, yeah, I don't know what I would have said on the survey. I don't. That's a good question, though I

would have. I would have. I would have. I would have so no hold on organization. They didn't even care enough about you to formally say goodbye and make sure that your experience here was one that you'll talk fondly about in the future, right, Elly, I got a couple of handshakes. That was about it, though, Yeah, that was about do you get a good the matching four o one K? Would you get out build up in it? From work? They stopped matching the four oh one K.

Actually, the company stopped matching you walk. It's an austerity measure. And anyway, Michael, one of you got before I get myself in trouble. This could be my this could be my last day too. We can't go we can't both go down here, Harry. All right, Hey, by the way, you haven't told me. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Mike, I interrupted. You haven't told me, Elliott, you haven't told us

who's doing the producing of this show next Saturday. So taking over from for me will be Alex Egan, who was a great kid, great kid. He has produced on this show before, Yes he has. He will be up for the task. All right. So anyway, Michael, you were saying no, no, I was just going to do And I know it's your your birthday also today, Elliott. That's that's that's that's twenty four years. Huh. That's right, twenty four the Big two four and I just

won. I look up quickly other famous scientists birthdays today, and the one I pulled up was George Nicholas Papanaklou from my Greece. Yeah, and he was born on this day, May thirteenth, eighteen eighty three. He was a German Greek American psychologist and UH pathologists. And what he did, Elliott and Gary Jeff he was a developed a technique where he took mucus secretions, put on a microscope slide and detected cancers from the years and service, otherwise

known as the pap smear test. So an honor of you, Elliott, the father of the pap smear. How about Elliott Rearing share the same birthdate. I'm not gonna lie. I didn't think the stay could get any better. It's all the best, brother, Thank you, thank you, Thank you. Mike ten minutes past the ol how about that the father of the pap smear and you magical? I woke our prayer for you and your listeners. Gary. I don't have a worse today, but I have a story. I'm at a gentleman name shot from termite pestons for all Wednesday

at work, and I know God had to order these steps. We just started talking and I told him I'm at the point in my life I just love God and I love people. And he got real rid it and real quiet, and he said, Rick, I got something to tell you. She said, I was driving on seventy one last year around the Norwood area, and this beautiful orange light came out of my chest. He said, the orange I couldn't really describe, and I didn't understand what was happening,

but he thought about it all that day and all that night. The next morning he woke up, he called his primary card doctor. He said, come right in and see me. Next thing you know, he's on the operating table. He had a ninety three percent blockets, ninety eight percent blockets, and I think he said something called the widowmaker. Yeah. So they actually had him an open heart surgery, and the doctor and the surgeons told

him, if you hadn't not called us, you'd be dead. And he said, Rick, the only thing I could think of is maybe the guy upstairs for trying to tell me something. And I started teared a little bit. I said, you're exactly right. His name at the Holy Spirit. He's our helper, he's our protector. Gary. It was so deep and so powerful, and he said, Rick, I don't know why I've never told him a body that story, but I'm telling you, I said, me and you didn't order this day. God did he already knew we were

meet Gary. It was so powerful it was hard for me to go back to work. And I praised God that God had mercy on Garry. He's seventy years old and I met the dude and I just love him. That's an amazing story. Rick, Thank you my God. Imbody shared with me. I had to share it with you, guys. Thank you for doing that. Thank you guys. Have a blessed day. Praise God. Is the last one? The eight seeded heat they eliminated the five seated Knicks ninety six ninety two in Game six last night is going to be and for the final time, Gary Jeff, for the very final time, Elliott Rearing seven hundred WLW sports amazing primary election in Kentucky, where I live,

God's Country, the Commonwealth on Tuesday. I am not voting because I'm a registered independent and you can't vote unless you're a registered republic or Democrat in this in this this way, I am this only way that I am non binary politically. But somebody who's definitely one of those political animals, almost my friend Mike Dave Us with a little preview of what's going on on Tuesday, and he has some picks of people that he would like to see move on to

the general election in November. Of course, the gubernatorial race is going on. Andy Basher, the incumbent, and the Republicans have a full field. Let's start there with the governor's race and just your handicapping and your thoughts. Mike, thank you for having me on. Gary Jacque Boy, what a great testimony from our friend Rick Green. Oh yeah, I'm supporting and volunteering

for four candidates. I know. Let's start with the governor's race. Okay, wh governor's race, I am a volunteer for just one candidate in that race. We've got twelve. But I am volunteering for our current attorney general role of the state of Kentucky. There will be no attorney general primary race that's been put off to the general election because we don't have enough candidates. Okay, So that Daniel Cameron is the person you're volunteering for. Yes.

And I got to know Daniel during a right to life prayer groups in the state Capitol, and this far before he had ever announced, and we've got to know each other a little bit better after he announced in fact, I'll be with him on Monday at the High Restaurant in our Language, Kentucky for a meet and greet. Well because invited. All right, all right, that's uh, that's one out of the way of the four races that you're

you're endorsing candidates or working four candidates. Four. Let's talk about another important race. And I don't want to get into any of the nonsense that's been going on in the background about the Secretary of State race, but it's an important elf. We found out in twenty twenty how important secretary of States are around the country when it comes to ensuring the integrity of election. One of the people running is the incumbent Michael Adams. There's Steve Nipper, and you're

supporting Alan Miracle, as I understand, that's correct, all right. I research candidates very very thoroughly before I get behind them, and that starts with their pro life stance. All three of those candidates are endorsed by Northern Kentucky Right to Light only. Alan Miracle was unanimously voted for on our board. Kay, Yeah, endorsed. I'm a board member with them, and he was the only one unanimously indorsed the other two our pro life. There's no

doubt about it. Okay, as far as uh who's gonna win that race, it's it's a toss up. There are no polls saying who's in the league or who is And the one spending the most money is Michael Adams. He has the most money. I've seen. I've seen the answer. Yes, Steve Ben the spending quite a bit. And Alan is getting indorsements from a lot of a lot of people around the state and including the the county

clerks who control the voting machines what they use. So let me let me ask you this, Michael Adams, has he done anything to clear the voting roles. I'm sure he's done something because there's been so much focus in scrutiny in the integrity of voting. I mean, so that is the one area that the Secretary of State has control over, cleaning up the voting roles, removing dead people that are still on the rolls, things like that. They

do have control over that. Michael Adams says he removed a lot of dead people from the roles. Well you look at him again, they're right back on there. They're still voting, and they're voting from their day, but they're voting. All right, Well, we're down to we're down to I'm sorry to interrupt, but we're down to about a minute and a half, Mike Davis. So tell me about the other two races that you're talking about for the primary election in Kentucky on Tuesday, May the sixteenth. Yeah,

that would be the Commissioner of aggrig culture. There are couple very good candidates running for that. I am volunteering for. Jonathan Shell is a farmer, and so is the other candidate, and both of them are very good. I just happened to have talked to both of them and heard both of them speak, and I find Jonathan to be a lot more personable and open. Okay, Okay, that's good. And the agriculture commissioner should be a farmer.

Let's let's not it's not like you know, it's like like Pete budha Jed should not be the Secretary of Transportation when they called him pothole Pete when he was the mayor of South and Indiana. So the last, the last race, just with another minute, The last one is the state treasurer and I am supporting Andrew Cooper Writer. I'd listened to Andrew. I've never heard anybody's ef or speak with as much knowledge as Andrew Cooper Writer has of the

duties of that office. It's unbelived. They sign all the checks. Yeah, they know where the money goes, they know where the money's hidden. And Andrew knows it. He is by far the best candidate for that seat. You know, it might just with one minute left, sixty seconds. It is important for people to get out and vote, if they are eligible to vote, if they're registered to vote as either a Republican or Democrat. We're talking about a primary election that will set the stage for the generals in

November, including the highest office in the commonwealth, governor. And we've all seen what Andy Basher has done and what he hasn't done in Kentucky over his first term. I think it's crucial that people turn out and choose a candidate they can challenge an incumbent governor. It's not going to be easy, there's no question about it. But you don't you don't want ten to twelve percent of the voters to turn out, and that's it. It's so important,

isn't it. I'm in the past we've had less than that. We had as little as seven percent. Oh, that's ridiculous. You don't deserve go ahead ever seeing this this particular election where we have so many candidates supposed to run for governor, and again, I do my research, but I wouldn't expect everybody to do that. Unfortunately, a lot of people vote by who has the biggest sign. As my friend west Side Jim Keeper says, signs

don't vote. Mike, listen, God bless you, God bless you, and thanks for taking some time just to get to hear about some of the candidates going on in the primary on Tuesday in Kentucky seven LW News Traffic and Weather News Radio seven hundred WLW Cincinnati. Weekend negotiations over the debt ceiling.

This is the eight thirty report from Sandy Collins Breaking Now. Staff from the White House and the offices of congressional leaders are holding urgent talks this weekend trying to find common ground on government spending cuts as the US gets dangerously close to defaulting on its debt. ABC's Elizabeth Scholsey is in Washington with this. The White House says that President Biden will meet again with the four leaders of Congress

early next week. The President is still rejecting House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's demand to slash government spending in exchange for raising the debt ceiling, but we understand that there might be agreement on reforming permits for energy projects and on climbing back COVID relief funds. For your next new car, go to Jake Sweeney Chevrolet, find new roads and get up to seve personal experiences with our Elliott rearing over the last

year. From ESPN fifteen thirty seven. LW obviously another former producer part of the producer tree of the Gary Jeff Walkers Saturday Morning edition, mo Egger joins us, Hey, mo, what's happening? Well, what's happening is the Elliot's last day with us todaysating on his birthday. No less U knows Eliot's birthday. Wow, Happy birthday to the zebra. Yeah, the mole, the admiral, you call it the zebra. So so here's here's the thing.

Um. He said that when he told you that he was resigning because he found a better opportunity, you stuck a sticky note on his back that said quitter. Yeah, And I think that you were owed that because you also, at one time or another were a producer here and for this show, and you were you were getting the world's lowest wages like all the others, and you found a way to stick it out, Moegar, and look at you now. So what I'm I'm trying to I'm trying to impress upon

Elliot that sometimes it takes a lot of struggle. You have to have a lot of dedication to stay in this business. Like when I was Elliot's age, even even before then, you know, I was I was still living at home with mom and dad, but I was traveling fifty miles for a part time airshift each way and sleeping on some guy's couch and doing lifton cup of soup and iced tea bags that I brought, and that's how I survived. So, I mean, sometimes you got to go through some rough stuff,

right, Mo. Well, I would agree, and I certainly did, and you did. Yeah, but you know, maybe this just isn't what he wants to do, or you know, there's there's no I don't know what the Zebras end goal is here, but there's no one way toward it. And you know, look, if if he could make a little bit more money, oh and uh and accumulate a wider variety of experiences doing something else than you know, far be it for me to to criticize. I think he's a talented young man. Though, yes he has been and

could continue to be an asset for our operation. And as I told him, you know, just because you leave, that doesn't mean that one day it can't come back. Well, I mean, we started calling Russ Jackson the boomerang because he just kept on coming back. So we called him a lot of things, boomerang with one of them, yes, what's one of them? Exactly? And his face got so red. Uh. So I'm thinking Elliot's going to chatterbox and so he'll be able to learn some some things

from Tom Brenneman. To learn from Tom Brenneman, I think someone's been an accomplished broadcaster for a long time and you could. You could certainly do worse. No, there's no question about that. You should, You can certainly do worse than the Reds are doing the last ten games or so. In fact, since April twenty fourth, the Cincinnati Reds have the best record in the NL Central. Correct. Yeah, you know, the Pirates have kind

of fallen back to earth. Brewers have struggled over the last couple of weeks. The Cardinals are miserable, and the Cubs are the very definition of average. And the Reds, you know, they just keep sort of hanging around. Last night, you know, Jake Fraley with the heroics, and that's been a thing. You know, he's come up with so many big hits late in games this season. The three run homer last night, he made a really nice catch in the outfield that sort of a tone for him missing

the cutoff man an inning earlier. Um, they've hung around, and they've they've hung around without having a very potent offense. You know, they don't hit a lot of home runs. I think their third the third fewest home runs in all the Major League Baseball. They're below league average and pretty much

every offensive metric, but they have been great late in games. They have been really good at hanging around and keeping games close for the most part, and for as much as this team's bullpen gets beaten up, usually when they have won, it is a direct result of getting some good relief pitching, and they certainly did last night. And so all of this kind of begs the question, OK, well, they've kind of hung around a little bit.

You know, there are still four games under five hundred, but what can you do to get a little bit of an of an offensive jolt? And the answer lies in Louisville, where players like Matt McClain, a former first round pick, and Christian and carnassion Strand, who they acquired from its wins last year, and Ellie de la Cruz, who somethink has the potential to one day be the best player in baseball, are each tearing it up. And so the question now is can they or will they bring those guys

to Cincinnati replaces players who are maybe underperforming. I think can those players provide maybe a little bit more punch to an offense that if it gets it, you know, who knows where this team can go. There's no question I'd found out through Elliot rearing and by the way, Elliott, you are my co host. If you'd like to ask moa question about anything, feel free to jump in at any time. But he told me that Nick Clodolo had been scratched, and I said, was he trained by that same guy at

Churchill Downs? This is not good. Well, hopefully the outcome for Nicolodolo was better, right exactly, But thank thank god he's not dead. He's been scratched. Yes, fortunately Nick is still with us. Yeah, yeah, that's the derby. Unfortunately was was was dramatically overshadowed or at least clouded by all the hut all the horses having to having to be put down.

Yeah, from from Mage to Mange kind of uma. The Bengal schedule is out, and we found out in the aftermath of the NFL schedule with the first ever Black Friday game that's going to be played the day after Thanksgiving. The Bengals were lobbying hard for that, and they want to make that a Cincinnati tradition. Of course, they got Aaron Rodgers with the Jets playing on

Black Friday coming up this year in November. But I mean, do you think that's a great fine trick because I can't stand I don't go anywhere near anything on that day. I'm sitting at home going, yeah, well Thanksgiving was great, but man, I could use some more football. What do you think about the whole Black Friday thing in the NFL schedule? Though?

I like it now. I mean, I will say this, for those of us who love college football over the last you know, tensifty years, that's that's kind of turned into a big college football friving not rival last year, yeah on Black Friday. But yeah, I love the idea of the Bengals offering to basically host that game every single year. I think it could have been a really cool tradition and you would have you know what you have and it's not apples to apples. But in baseball, what do we know?

Every year in Cincinnati they're hosting on opening Day? Yep, no matter what, I don't know who the opponent's going to be. Sometimes you don't know what time the game is going to be. Obviously the weather is always a bit of a varia book. But you know they're going to be home that day every single year. In football, it's really hard to have such things, especially you know, when you have a football stadium in such close proximity to do a baseball stadium. It's not like you're going to open it

home every year. It's not like you can guarantee that any one week you're going to be home. With the exception of the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys, who are always home on Thanksgiving. And I've always thought it's kind of cool if you live in those two cities, in particular Detroit, which their Thanksgiving tradition goes back to many many more years, they host a Thanksgiving

game every year. I think that's very cool. And so if you can have something like that here where you know that the Friday after Thanksgiving every single year, the Bengals are going to be home. Obviously the opponent can rotate, but you have a three o'clock game, which is when that game is

going to be on Friday after Thanksgiving every single year. I think that could be really kind of a fun tradition here, and I think it's cool that the Bengal stepped up and said we'll do it, and hopefully, you know, obviously they're not going to play on Black Friday this year, but hopefully that's something the NFL considers moving forward, because I think that could be pretty cool. So how come the Bengals have to play on the road at Kansas

City again against the Chiefs. I mean, what do you think? What do you make of the Bengals schedule when it came out low because they played in the home last year, because that's how the schedule rotates, so I forgot. Look, they actually get a bit of a competitive advantage against Kansas City because if you look at the schedule, they play the Chiefs on December thirty first, right the game before that will be for the Bengals December twenty

three. Kansas City is playing on Christmas. You don't often have such inequities in the NFL schedule in which the Bengals are going to have eight days between their game against Pittsburgh and the Kansas City game, and the Chiefs are going to be coming off a short week, playing on a Monday, Christmas is on a Monday, and then turning around and playing what it's probably gonna be a really big game on New Year's Eve. So look, the last two

regular season games between the Bengals and Chiefs have been here. The two playoffs have been at Arrowhead Stadium. If you want to avoid going there, in the postseason. You know, what you can do have a better record than the Kansas City Chiefs, and the easiest way to do that is by getting

off to a faster start than he did last year. I think Fortunately, the schedule sets up pretty favorably if you look at the first six games before thereby, I think you would make the argument right now they'll be favored in all six and so if they can get to the buye it's something like five and one or maybe six and oh, the schedule does get a little bit more difficult after the buy starting with the road trip to San Francisco. That's

the way to do it, you know. As much as you know people complained about, you know, going to Arrowhead Stadium and the officiating and the environment that comes with it, well, the one thing this franchise hasn't accomplished is getting the one seed and getting the buy that comes with it and having a chance to host teams like the Chiefs and the Bills in the postseason.

That to me, is what this season is all about. And doing so might require going to Arrowhead and winning, but it felt like they've played poorly there. They're You're absolutely correct, Zebra has a question for your mouth. That's okay, Elliott, Hey Mo, how you doing. I'm good, Zebra. Hey, A lot of people have called me a degenerate gambler, and you know I am. I am one of them. Do you make fun of that? I have a question, what do you think your best

gambling win is ben of all time? If you had to pick it down to one, your best gambling win. Uh, that's a pretty good question. I mean, besides winning the iHeartMedia office pool. Besides that one. Yeah, I got called to Homer for putting money on Sauce Gardner to be the AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year last year. The oddswath plus one thousand, So I really enjoyed that. That was a good one. I'm not a big parlay guy. I love parlay, but I did so one of

my favorite stories ever, very very quickly. Here. I was in Las Vegas for the NCAA Tournament in two thousand and twelve. I'm standing in the betting line and I said, look, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna go We're gonna bet Cincinnati, We're gonna bet Xavier, We're gonna bet Western Kentucky against UK Now that was a Kentucky team that won the national title. And I was explaining to my buddy, who was not a huge college

basketball fan. Look, here's the deal. Kentucky is gonna beat Western Kentucky. The spread was like twenty seven points. It was a great Kentucky team. Yeah, And I said, here's the deal. Caliperry is going to take his foot off the gas against a state school, and so he'll be comfortably ahead, easily advancing to the next round. And then he's going to call off the dogs. He's not going to blow out a fellow state school that's not Louisville. So the game, a guy in front of us looks

to me and goes explain that to me again, total stranger. And I explained the logic to him. Kentucky's gonna win, he's gonna take his foot off the gas. And it gives me this like look like huh okay. So he goes to the betting window. I don't pay any attention to him. My buddy and I go to the betting window. We're back in the book. The day plays out, Xavier wins, Cincinnati wins, Kentucky wins. They're up by thirty three points. Caliperry puts all his scrubs in Western

Kentucky makes a run. They lose by twenty three. That covers we hit our parlor. We are really fired up.
