Before we look at to look back at significant events and people tied to this particular date in history, including but not limited to these, seventeen eighty British spy John Andre captured along with papers revealing Benedict Arnold's plot to surrender West Point to the British the trader Lewis and Clark. The air expedition returned to Saint Louis more than two years after setting out for the Pacific Northwest. The year was eighteen h six, and they stopped and watched a Cardinals game and had
some fried ravioli. Maybe maybe not the fried ravioli the Cardinals have been around forever. Nineteen fifty five, a jury in Sumner, Mississippi, acquitted two men, Roy Bryant and J. W. Milum, a murdering black teenager Emmett Till they later would admit to the crime in an interview would Look magazine also in this date nineteen fifty seven. Two years later, nine black students who'd entered Little Rock Central High in Arkansas forced to withdraw because of a white

His boy Elroy. The Jetsons nineteen sixty two nineteen eighty seven. Is this like a foreshadowing of things to come? The dishonesty of Joe Biden on display full display in nineteen eighty seven, when the Senator from Delaware withdrew from the Democrat presidential race. Excuse me
following that was good? Following questions about the use of borrowed quotations and portrayal of his academic record, he lied, we have a long, long history of Joe Biden being a liar and also just blatantly, blatantly stealing from other people. And the dairy sits at sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue nineteen ninety nine. On this date, the Mars climate orbiter apparently burned up as it attempted to
go into orbit around the Red planet. And it was finally, twelve days after the terrorist attack of nine to eleven that President Bush returned the American flag to full staff at Camp David, ending the period of national mourning over the attack. Okay, well we'll we'll catch up on sports. The Rents lose last night to the Pirates at Great American Ballpark. Another one h two run affair. In this case,

It's just that simple abortion up until actual delivery is possible if this passes. And if you think it's a woman's right and it's a woman's body and she could be
into the state should not control what happens with a woman's body. Okay, that argument sinks immediately when you realize there's another human body involved, the body of the unborn. It's not a collection of cells or a fetus. It is a human baby. And they're trying to guarantee as a right the ability to commit murder. So if you're in favor, if you're pro murder,
absolutely vote yes an issue one in Ohio. And I would also ask if you're not just a total ideologue who thinks that this is this is this should be guaranteed as a constitutional right in the Buckeye State, go to see the language dot com and see what the bill actually says, what the amendment actually says, and understand all of the vagaries and the lack of definition that is
included in the language of this. It basically says that it will give the right to a woman and her doctor to a boord a baby right up until the time of birth in the ninth month. Basically, go to see the language the full text, and it's just the text of the proposed amendment,
was some sideline notes and questions about each line. A lot of bad laws and a lot of poor decisions have been made by Ohio voters because they simply did not read the language, or the language was so confusing and so non defining that that the voter just drew up their hands and went with what the
advertising told them. And there's a lot of powerful, powerful people, planned Parenthood being one of the main drivers of this bill, imagine that it would definitely benefit planned Parenthood to have this as an Ohio constitutional amendment passed by the voter. So absolutely go to see the language dot com before you step into the ballot booth on November seventh, and know exactly what you're voting for, what you're voting on. Too many people don't. Sadly, it's five fifty

FM stereo receiver. I don't usually work on ones that aren't as old as I am, but this one is still a six tube set and two speakers and just typical of the European models like this. It just sounds absolutely fantastic and looking forward to get it back home to cass Town too, so Randy can finally start enjoying it, because this has been one of those that's been on the shelf for a very long time. You worked on a grundig for our friend Nick early early on, didn't you? Was it? Or was
it but virtually identical? Yeah? There was, They and Telefunking, Philip Snorrelko and several brands I can't even pronounce or think of all, most of them West German, and they all had very similar layout, similar designs, and in a similar appearance. And they're just great radios. Yeah, you know. And and it's odd too that in nineteen sixty five they were still
making fine radios with tubes. They couldn't beat the sound. Yeah, I mean, it took him a while to to actually come up with the high fidelity Tree Sisters that at least they in Europe appreciated Mike the sound of and most people weren't buying them either. Now they were making little portables that were transistors, but not these nice home stereo units. Huh. I'd like a screenshot of that, sir, if you can manage that, I'd appreciate that.

You know, we have a president who actually stood up for workers and the auto industry and told Europe, for instance, he leveled the playing field with the American eight vehicles in the continent of Europe. He forced them to negotiation tables and did that for our American automobile industry and as a result, the workers at industry obviously made gains that area. And then he announces he's going to go he's gonna go stand with them. Donald Trump
says he's going to stand with the workers and with the union. And then the good old flasiorizing Joe does what he does best and he says he's going to go stand with them. You know, you got to ask yourself in the day, America, we have somebody sitting in the White House who's two major obstacles to his re election. One is being persecuted by a Department of Injustice relentlessly, and the other one is amazingly not receiving Secret Service security.

Next update at seven thirty. News Radio seven hundred WLWI News twenty four hours a day, News Radio seven hundred wl W. Jeffwyler Honda dot Com into another hour of this
Saturday morning edition for Saturday, September twenty three, twenty twenty three. I'm Gary, Jeff Walker, you are you and that is perfectly fine with me. Seven hundred WLW. Six minutes past the hour, and it looks like it's time to talk to our friend the environmental engineer Steve Schulty on the climate. He says this, it's got two mats a reality. Well, everyone else is seemingly saying it's getting worse and we're about to die because the ocean
are boiling and all the other nonsense. It's being pushed down people's throats just to redistribute the wealth of the world. Steve Schulty, good morning, How are you my friend? Good morning, Gared Jeff, better than I deserve yourself. Excellent, Thank you very much. It's great to talk to you two days in a row. What do you got for us this morning?
Well? Why god is? It comes from the Epic Times September thirteenth to the nineteen Just recently article big article, but says, if physicist refutes the prevailing narrative on climate change, points out an ignored factor. Nobel Prize winner rebutes climate alarm. This is about doctor John Klouser, who's recipient of the twenty twenty two Nobel Prize and Physics for his contributions and quatic mechanics. Yeah.
I believe he shared it with a couple of other scientists. Yes, Nope, No we didn't we shared no'll we shared another one there's a prize in physics that he shared, the Wolf Prize back in twenty ten. But anyway, bottom line is, this guy's got you know, he's been at cal Tech Columbias, He's worked at the Lawrence Berkeley, National Labs, Lawrence Liverpool and National Labs, so on, so forth. So he's you know,
this guy, this is a renowned scientist. So he says, so I read all the various UN reports and National Acadory reports on this, that this climate change. As a physicist, I worked at some of the excellent institutions at cal Tech, Columbia, cal Berkeley, very careful science we conducted
and needed to be done. And reading these reports, I was appalled on how floppy the work was, and in particularly it was very obvious in the early from even from the earliest reports, this has all been carried through to the present, that clouds were not at all understood. It's simply a banned science. And basically what he feels is the missing piece and all these programs and models that supposedly are predicting the future is that while the models focus on
CO two, they overlooked clouds. And he goes on to say that you know, cloud cover based upon satellite images, can be from five the ninety five percent of the Earth's surface, and people say, what does that mean. Well, the issue is, since the oceans make up two thirds of the Earth's surface, when you have minimal clouds, the results in more sunlight, he says, triggering increased evaporation and subsequent cloud formation, resulting in more
clouds. But then when you have a because of the abundant clouds, it reduces the sunlight to the oceans, curving of evaporation rates and cloud formation, resulting in fewer clouds. So basically he's saying this acts like a natural firm a stat for the Earth's temperature, and he contends that this thermostatic mechanism has a much much greater influence on the Earth's temperature than the effect of CO two.
In fact, he's done some preliminary research that suggests that the effect of this cloud what's called reflectivity mechanism, could overshadow CO two, is influenced by one hundred or even two hundred times, and that has never been taken into accounts in all these projections and the models that are being pushed on us assume clear skies, no clouds, and then Gary, Jeff, you wonder why that as long as these models have been around, there's about forty of them.
They all on average they run two to three times hotter than what actual data we have, the actual data exactly as always, very enlightening. And what was his name again, John Klauser? John Klouser, eighty years old. So you get so there's no reason why he doesn't there's no reason for him not to tell us the truth because yeah, right, exactly, all right, thank you, Stephen. begins he. I never thought I'd be talking about brain function with our next guest, but that's where we're headed this morning train with Rocco dot Com and Rocco Costelano. Good morning. How are you? How you doing Gary, Jeff? I'm doing what? Why wouldn't you be Why wouldn't you think you would be talking about brain functions? Oh, it's just because we usually don't talk about brain function. Well, I think sometimes we allude to brain function,
but we don't talk specifically about it. But in our short time together, tell me what this l theonine is or I don't even know if I'm pronouncing it theonine or what is this? Well it is, it's lane and actually it's it's probably one of the better molecules out there for a brain function. What it does is it's a supplement, right that that affects the brain, very similar to what l agglutamate does, but it activates, uh,
your alpha brain frequency. So we have five different brain frequencies the alpha beta gamma, delta, theta, and and the first three alpha beta gamma that's for like the waking hours, you know, And it really excites your alpha frequency so that you could be more creative, It expands the brain. But the the great part of that is that when you're in alpha for most of the day, you automatically go into delta, so you're awake and you and
your brain's functioning at a very high level. And then when you go to sleep, you get to get you get to get into a deep deltas sleep. So how does the molecule How does the molecule lanin help your brain real quickly? Yeah, so so it goes, it binds with your seratonin are receptors, and it it actually lights it. It basically lights up your brain and it makes its function at a very high level. How do we get lanin in our diet, Rocco, I'm sorry, we're just desperately short on
time. Oh yeah, so I didn't get it and most vegetables and also in a supplement form. So you can get it, and you can come down to the Covington A Farmer's Market and you can get a sample of it if you want, because I'll be there today from well from nine until one. Okay, you can get a sample of it if you want. All right, thank you very much, Rococock l Fiaen. Time now for the tom Davis Diaries. I like to refer to them as the with the weird
and wonderful and just wacky in general. Here is the aforementioned Tom David. Good morning, Gary, Jeff. This week the gamble of the public proposal. But first, a twenty five year old woman in Florida stole an alligator from her employer so it could be with her on her birthday. As an employee, she had keys to Tampa's Kroc Encounters. That's how she nabbed her favorite gator and took him to the resort where she was celebrating her birthday.
She stashed him in the bathtub till the time was right, but the creature was discovered before it could make the party. The woman no longer is employed at the facility. There's a new viagra alternative in Brazil using spider vinim too well, you know, they say the best part about it. It's a topical solution that's applied by hand that works almost instantly without any of the nasty side effects. At a company that little blue pill. An airport screening officer
was caught stealing money from passengers in the weirdest way possible. She was taking cash money from purses and wallets and using the lubrication from a large bottle of water as she was swallowing the money. When she was finally caught on camera, she had three hundred dollars cash in her stomach. And finally, in Scotland, a marriage proposal that didn't go as planned. A man who was hoping to be the groom draped the sheet over a fence and spray painted Rachel,
will you marry me? A short time later, Rachel responded she put up a sheet of her own. It read no, you slept with my brother. Next week, a woman from Kansas claims to be the reincarnated Glenn Fry. The heat is on. Indeed, have a great weekend. They're great American here doing a OK so we have calfwatch going on. If Burrow cannot go on Monday. How different is the game plan if you put mister Browning in there, Well, it's a lot different. Jake Brian's going to
rely on more on his lower body to make plays. But you know, we talked about the preseason and starters playing it. It also didn't allow any reps between Jake Browning and these starters because Joe Burrow wasn't able to go the rest of the starter sat. So the timing with the receiving corps and the offensive line and everybody else, I just don't see how there is timing to where it needs to be. And if you follow along the move that was
made last night, it would be Jake Browning. It's not going to be Will Greer or Will Grew or picked up by the New England Patriots. He was put on their fifty three man roster. So as of right now as we're talking today, it is Jake Browning or Joe Burrow. Those are the only two quarterbacks on the roster for the Cincinnati Bengals. But they likely would
bring back Simeon as he's been he knows the system anyway. Yeah, that's from having him throughout training camp and you go back to training camp though, and Trevor Simeon struggle, I mean so much so that they chose Jake Browning over Trevor Simeon when the off season started. Simeon seemed like the safe bet to to come in and do just what this would call for, maybe play a game, maybe play two, and keep this thing afloat. They didn't
feel Terbor Simeon could do that after camp. So again you're you're, you're, you're gonna go back to Simeon, But you also didn't have a ton of confidence him as as training camp was wrapping up, which doesn't bode well for either side. Yeah, all right, well, I guess we've got to look at the Rams, the Rams, and not who they were a couple of years ago. Strength of the Rams. Obviously, they still have Aaron Donald, and they still have Sean mcbet. Outside of that, it's
a healthy Matthew Stafford. Right now, they have a running back on a name or receiver by name of Puka that is leading the NFL in receptions and targets, and he has essentially come out of nowhere. But this to me comes down to Sean mcbeh. This is a team, as I said, not a lot of household names on either side of the lots out of Aaron Donald. But they went into Seattle Week one and they dominated and four three out of the four quarters. Last week they went toe to toe and the
aggressors against San Francisco forty nine ers. So it's a team that doesn't have a lot of star power, but they're playing really really well together and they had a genius of a coach that calls the offense. So they do pose a threat. I think more so of a threat now than maybe when the season started and you saw this game on the schedule. Yeah, obviously without Joe Burrow, but the way the Rams have played is a concerning piece for Monday. All right, But that's a round. We'll leave it there,
Tony Pike, thank you very much. All Right, buddy, we're back with another week of football and draft Kings sports book is keeping us in tasks from news Radio seven hundred WL Temperatures in the mid fifties this morning with the clear skies, you warm up throughout the data top out right around eighty with the mostly sunny conditions. Very similar for your Sunday. You're waking up in the mid fifties, warming up to right around eighty from a severe weather station.
I'm not first Warning Meteorologist Cameron Harden on news Radio seven hundred WLW clear in fifty three degrees right now. I'm Sandy Collins, next update to date on news Radio seven hundred w LW News twenty four hours a day. News Radio seven hundred w l W. It's a hodgepodge of historical musical milestones for this week in history, we call it rock and roll archaeology. It's a day day the Gut, It's a bad Guy from nineteen sixty eight, the
White Album or the Beatles were celebrate with the music professor. I would yes, the Beatle the Maniacs and Dennison's Chokie Teams. It's the Beatles birthday. As we kick things off on a Saturday morning on seven hundred w l W. Let's bring in the man himself, the music professor Jim Lebarbara to talk about this and much morning. Good morning prom How are you at good good Gary, Jeff Watcher, Yes, this week in nineteen fifty eight, at
the Everyhood Studios in London, they recorded that song. Now they started to record the song. They got to the studios and a bunch of people showed up and all of a sudden, Paul said, well, we gotta go see go to my house. His house was right around the corner from the studio, and they went to see the London Tutterson premiere of the Girl Can't Help It with Jay Mansfield and Cockfany loved Debbie Cockfan and so they watched the
movie. They went back to the studio and they were really inspired after watching the movie, and they completed the song that night at five am in the morning, was finally done and it was five by the movie and John Lennon said that it was like he said, well, Paul did the whole thing in the studio. He wrote the thing in the studio, just made it up on the spot. And he thought he was looking for like a happy happy birthday baby that the tune weavers did in the fifties. And he said
it was a piece of garbage, a piece of garbage. And George Wharton was there, one of his assistants was the assistant was there, and they had they had their friends, they were partying. They were just partying. Patty Boyd was there, Yoko Ono, and they were the background singers on
the record, not professional singers. Paulsy didn't know what to do, but he was thinking about Roy Orgerson, what he had done and with Pretty Woman, and little Richard had done with Lucille with that Doo do do do do do do thing that you heard and then you say it's your birthday, and
that was it. They had the upright piano there. It was rigged to a sound like a harpsichord and the background singers instead of being professionals, just their friends in the background, and the road in Mail Evans that was doing handclapped. He said it was took about twenty takes. It was the end result. It was a bunch of people party and in the studio and having
a good time. And they had done that before, you know, when we were talking about doing that this weekend, because this is the weekend it was recorded obviously at Abbey Road, but we were talking about this. It's similar to the Beach Boys Barbara Anne, which was just basically a party in somebody's garage and Jan and Dean were there and you can hear that on the
record. But it's the same thing with Birthday. It's just a giant get together, a kind of an instantaneous happening that winds up being this iconic, you know, classic birthday song. Up next on the list is one of my favorite records from this era, written by the late great Tony Joe White. Tell me about this song on Tuesday speaking a Birthday a Birthday guy on Tuesday. We lost them a long time ago, Brook Mett one of my
favorite interviews of all time, talking to book met this magnificent voice. Now he's a guy from South Carolina. Gotta starts singing and in his dance churches. That was a client aster sang with some gospel groups, went to New York and sang with more gospel groups, and then teamed up with a guy, Belie the cland Otis and they wrote some great music for Nacking Cole and Clian mcfatter and other people. And then the client said, man, you
want to sing yourself and he did. It's just a matter of time endlessly, and we could go on and on so many ways that belweevil songs and twice kiddo, and then he had dry spell and he found this song written by Louisiana swamp rocker. You mentioned Tony Joe White, and Tony Joe White got a wake up call. He was listening to radio. Bobby Jentrick came on with Oda Billy Joe, and he man, he said, wait a second, that's real. If I even decided to write a song, I'm
gonna write something real and something I know about. And he knew about Rainy Knights in Georgia because even though he's from Louisiana. After he graduated from high school and went down to Marianna, Georgia, lived there with his sister, got a job there and knew about the Rainy Knights. And then of a sudden Book Minton got a hold of the song, and Tony Joe White didn't
know he even recorded the song. If somebody said m forty five, he said, Man, I listened to him about fifteen times in a row, and he's been saying it, he said in my original key of D he said. I was totally blown away, and it became the big comeback record I remember before hit in nineteen seventy for a guy who celebrated the birthday this week. The great book met him with A ringing Night in Georgia. I was at Tony Joe White's birthday party in Nashville in nineteen eighty is fortieth birthday,
and he did this. He did this song live acoustics. But here's Brooke ben Hoover and buying suitcase, trying to find a wall place to spend the night. Heavy rain fallen seems I hear boys falling. It's all right. A rainy night in Georgia, A rainy night in Georgia. It seems like it's raining all over the world. I feel like it's raining all over the world. Leon suns are flashing types of cabs and busses passing through the night night, A distant morning of the train seems to play a sad refrain
to the night. Yeah, a rainy nightey in Georgia. Such a rain even at night in Georgia. Lord out and leave its raining all over the world. I feel like I was laying it all over the world. Some minutes times I wonder it still comes out and saying, no matter how you look at it, I'll think of it, it's a lie. And you
just got to play the game. Find yourself in that a place, in that box car, and just curl up and listen to that rain falling down from seven hundred w welwa playing and Gary Jeff Walker with Jim La Barbera, the music professor rock and Roll Archaeology on a Saturday morning edition and Jim up next a birthday and we could play almost anything from this guy and people would almost instantly recognize it. And we are hoping and praying for his recovery.
He has had to suspend his recent tour because of a peptic ulcer of all things, very painful stuff. But the guy from New Jersey, the guy from Asbury Park, Bruce Springsteen turn turning seventy four today. Yeah, it's official Springsteen's birthday today seventy four, and it is Bruce Springsteen Day. In the state of New Jersey. The Governor Bill Murphy proclaimed that he said, there's been fourteen administrations, Jeff in New Jersey. Sam Springsteen started performing and
he couldn't believe it. Nobody has you know, his birthday, his day for the whole state of New Jersey, his home states. Now here's a guy. In nineteen sixty were like so many youngsters watching television seeing the Beatles on TV on the had Sullivan Show. He goes out and buys his voice guitar for eighteen ninety five minutes. How it all begins at the Western Auto Applian store. Now, this song, Hungry Hart was his first big hits, came out of his fifth album, The River, and it was the
lead single from the album. And his first big hit goes to number five. And he meets he met what happened as he met Joey Ramone in Asbury Park and Ramone had this group, so the Ramones, of course and he said, wite me a song. And Bruce wrote this song specifically for the Ramones, but as manager and producer, John Lambdau said, you know, wait, you've been giving Brandie by the Light. You've been giving them all these songs. Await do this yourself, And so he decided to keep it
himself. And when they recorded it, they recorded it a little higher vocal. Bob Dylan spet up the machine with filet Lady lay and the technique was Brian Wilson did it in Carolina now in nineteen sixty six. Other background singers interesting our friends the Turtles, Mark Bowman and how we peel him as singing background on this record. And it's a song about running away, breaking three hungry heart and this guy has to leave his wife and five kids that fulfill
his hungry heart. And he said the idea came from a lion elp for Lord Tennyson's poem Ulysses Roaming with a hungry Heart. An interestingness this song, Bruce said, Man, this is the power of top forty radio because at that time guys were he had all the guys. I had a good friend of mine who was a disc jockey at w W for a wild left and went to his home in Connecticut, and he came to town, called me and said, Man, I'm gonna be with Bruce tonight like match states,
No, no, no, I just go to this concerts. He was like a deadhead, had these guys who following him around. He's a guy's guy. But with this song, the power of top forty radio Gary Jeff women, girls started digging him and the audiences completely changed. And this was a major, major breakthrough record for for Bruce brady S's birthday. Bruce's birthday out a wife and kids in Baltimore. Jack went out for a ride and I never went back a hungry heart. Thanks Rob, got kids up more
Jack. I went on ride and I never went back. Not the weaver that don't know where it's long, I waltern and I just did gone. Everybody's note angry heart. Everybody is not money and pay ever is can't stop. We fel we don't not here standing. Everybody's tide, everybody's time straight
on the money, everybody is to place dress. Everybodys were in a minute on baseball brought you and Park bart Nappa Auto Parts and by Routs, American Grill Wilmington, Ohio seven hundred, telling you well, telling you the home of the Reds. Tracy A. Regular season comes to an end a week
from Sunday. As we talk on this Friday about baseball and all the wonderful topics that we dealt with throughout the course of this season, my question to you today is, and it's late enough that we can make this determination in our own minds. We may disagree on who the Reds MVP has been in twenty twenty three? Do you want to go first? Was that a question? No, I'll be happy to Okay, go ahead. I didn't have to think a whole lot because my choice and I've said it two months ago.
And who do I ask? Let me see how perceptive you are. You know who I said would be my MVP, Spencer stair Bingo. Yeah, see, and I like him because he's been very consistent and something that I always appreciate when players in the big leagues can do it is play different positions that think he played four and played him well, that's exactly. That's a key right there, because you have a utility put quotes around that because
he plays virtually every day somewhere. He may be good at one position but not good at another. He's decent at every single position that David Bell has played him. He's going to hit around two seventy, he's going to hit twenty plus home runs, and he's gonna drive in eighty to ninety runs. But you've probably never heard this before and write this down. It was a team effort because you look at those numbers. Not a single player if you look at the stats jumps out at you, right, hungry, yeah,
right, yeah. Now, I'm sure you have somebody in mind also, But don't don't say it yet now because I know these people. Guys are pulling up in their work and they park in the car and they've turned the engine off, but they've keeping the radio on. Women too, to see who you would say is your REDS MVP. Back with that in the moment. R and L Carriers has immediate career opportunities nationwide looking for a career in
the transportation and logistics industry. Rn L Carriers has openings for and you say, I think Diaz has done a great job closing. Yeah, he really has. I think Andrew Abbott, we talked about him a few days ago, really some clutch performances. But if he hadn't have been hurt, Matt McClean would have been my MVP. And let's go back, people, and let's talk about his first hundred at bats. This is unbelievable. Matt McLean
had the second most hits in those hundred at bats with thirty five. Why don't we always go back to this we Nope, everybody knows who had that record. Everybody knows based on your comments six weeks Marty, Marty, thirty five hits in your first hundred at bats. How do you top that? I mean, the guy that got thirty seven hits and who got thirty seven hits in the first hundred, more hits in the first hundred bats than anyone in the game as far as the red skin, I guess yeah, go
ahead, you bingo. So Matt McClean finished second. He finished second. That you know, a lot of people say that record of thirty seven hits and first hundred beats will never be broken. Now people refer to forty one ninety two. Now that's a tough record to break. Yeah, but that's that's you know, that's a marathon where mine was a sprint. But thirty seven hits. Not to take away from Matt McClean. I thought for a minute he might get up, and then I thought, who's kind of absolutely
he's with clear skies. You warm up to ride around eighty this afternoon, sticking with the sunny conditions tonight very similar. You'll be in the mid fifties before you warm up to the upper seventies. And as we get into this hour, usually our friend Science Mike joins us about this time, and Science Mike told me that he was going to be in an area with no cell phone reception, so I wonder what kind of crazy wilderness outpost science Mike is dwelling in this weekend. Bud. Yes, as a nightly scientist, you did surprising at the bell bind to me. In lieu
of that, we'll do a different kind of science minute this morning. Our guest is Fred Summy, who is the president of Northern Kentucky Right to Life, and we're talking about a celebration of fifty years celebration of Life that is going on next Sunday, October first, with the details on that. And I call this a science Minute segment, Fred, because when the sperm and the ovum get together, they create something called a human life. And that
is that's pure science, is what it is. And if there's a and especially if there is a human heartbeat in that life that has been created, then that's that's that's really a human life. And science says that at that point, that's that's a human being. And Northern Kentucky Right to Life is all about celebrating and preserving the science of life. Correct. Yes, Gary, Jeff, thank you for having me on. I appreciate your attention.
Again. This year's this is our fiftieth annual Celebration for Life and this goes on, go ahead, this goes on next Sunday. And her guest speaker this year is Kristin Hawkins, the president of Students for Life, and she's a remarkable speaker if you've heard her
talk. She goes on college campuses where they're trying to shut her down practically in her life, but that does not intimidate this lady. She stands up and gives her message of the sanctity of all and it's in human life. I think the interesting thing about her she has four children and two of them have special needs, and I really think terence like that become more encourageous and facing the culture of death and defending those who really can't speak the speak for
themselves. So we're excited to have her. We're especially encouraging students to come this year, especially college and high school students. Is will be a good preparatory class on how to take on the college campuses. And we don't charge anything for students. We really like to have them there so they can hear
this message. All right. This is down on the farm. We'll call this old farmer Jones gets pulled over on his way from the
farm into town on the rural highway by a young state trooper. Trooper's first day on the job, so he decides to throw his weight around and press the farmer with the dangers of speeding AND's lecturing him. As he's writing the ticket. He stops because he has to swat it flies it is circling his face. Trooper starts again, writing the ticket again, the flies buzzing around his face, and the farmer says, having some problems with those circle flies.
There are you. The trooper stopped and said, yeah, I guess if that's what they are. I never heard of circle flies before, said oh, they're pretty common on the farm. We call him circle fly because they're always circling around the back end of a horse. The state trooper, the young trooper goes, oh, I see they steps. Wait a minute, are you calling me a horse's ass? The farmer said, oh,
no, no, no, officer, of course not. I have respect for law enforcement and the people who uphold the law like you, so i'd never call you a horse's ass. And trooper starts right and he said, well, that's a good thing. The farmer says, it's really hard to fool them flies though. Do you see Bearcats entertaining the Oklahoma Sooners? How entertained do you think the Sooners will be with the Bearcats? Well, if they throw the ball downfield and have the success they've had in the
first three games, they're going to be very entertained. I think if you're a Cincinnati fan, you know, first of all, the air seemingly came out of the balloon in terms of a lot of the excitements around in this game because of how they played against Miami. But they've had some issues in the secondary. The Bearcats hat with you know, completions being completed downfield. You saw what Miami did on the first play of the game throwing a deep
pass. They've had a lot of pats interference penalties, and Oklahoma is going to test that. If the Bearcats are up for it, maybe they've got a chance today. If they're not up to the test of slowing down Oklahoma's offense downfield, it could be a long afternoon. Well, I say,
well, we'll probably know sooner than later. Mo, well done. So the thing with Miami last week, I was just and we really didn't talk much about the victory bell game last Saturday morning, but it was assumed that you see, playing at home against against the RedHawks would pretty much they would have their day, They would have the day, and they would come back with a victory bell. But not so fast, as Lee Corso likes to say. Was it that was the main breakdown is just the defensive secondary of
the Bearcats. Well, I think the thing the game came down to is the Bearcats had seven red zone trips and they scored a touchdown in one of them. They ran seventeen snaps. They scored a touchdown on a Corey Kinder run from the four yard line on their first nap inside the ten yard line. From that pointward, the Bearcats ran seventeen offensive snaps inside the ten. They scored a touchdown on none of them. That obviously includes overtime, which
ended on an Emory Jones pick. You see, I had no trouble moving the football, but when they got inside the ten, their offensive line was beaten up a little bit. I think you're being fair if you wonder, Okay, should they have been a little bit more aggressive throwing the football. I think you're being fair if you wonder. You know, they had a fake punt which put them in position to kick the game winning field goal,
which was ultimately blocked. I think you're being fair if you wonder should they have been a little bit more aggressive trying to throw the ball into the end zone instead of settling for a field goal try? But the game came down to Cincinnati's an ability to execute inside the ten yard line and against good teams. And I happen to think Miami's a pretty good team against good teams. We're gonna pay for that, and you know, yeah, they struggled.
On the first play of the game, Miami connected on a deep pass that was really not just a touchdown for the RedHawks, but it's sort of affected how the Bearcats played defense all night long. Tony Flake talked about it on the radio broadcast that now you know, Cincinnati couldn't send a lot of guys after Miami's quarterback Brett Gabbert, so in turn, he had time to throw, and I think more importantly, he had time to run because UC was
so so concerned about stopping the deep pass downfield. And now you have an Oklahoma team that frankly just has more talent, a quarterback in Dylan Gabriel who can throw it deep. And so what is UC going to do. Are they gonna try to, you know, load up the secondary, have two safeties backs, or are they going to try to get out to the quarterback and perhaps leave one of those corners exposed. One on one life and a
Power five conference and you got a new coaching staff and everything else. There's a lot that needs to happen for you see, to have a halfway decent season this year. But you know it's it's a kind of a building block for the future, isn't it this season? Well? Sure, you know it's the perfect storm of things that that can work against you, right you. Coaching changes are always tough, right Luke Fickle's first year he won four
games. Put Stone's first year he won four games. Coaching changes in this day and age, in the short term are even more difficult because of the ease with which players can leave the program. And so a coach shows up in a new place, he's got to assemble a coaching staff, He's got an assembol of recruiting class. He also, in many respects, has to rerecruit the players who have already committed to play for that school. And then you add to it, you know, going up a level in competition.
The last time you see one up a level in competition from one conference to the other was two thousand and five. Mark D'Antonio. That year had a losing record. Mark D'Antonio ended up being a successful coach at You see, you add all of those things together happening at the same time, it's really really difficult. I think though, that you could take some degree of soulace in the fact that the Big Wealth schedule for the Bearcats is actually very,
very favorable. They don't have to play Texas. If you look at the top five teams in the Big Twelve preseason poll, Cincinnati only has to play one of them. They play him at home today in Oklahoma. Beyond that, the schedule has a lot of West Virginia, Houston, UCF, who I actually think is pretty good, Kansas, Iowa State, which is a train wreck right now. And so yes, it's a level up in competition.
This is a building block year for a new head coach. At the same time, if you look at the bottom of the Big Twelve, the schedule isn't all that daunting. Unfortunately, today you're getting a team from near the top of the Big Twelve, no doubt about it. Is it fair for people to second guests David Bell's pitching changes at this point, Yeah, of course. And David Bell would be the first person to tell you that.
You know, I think on a macro level, David Bell has done a terrific job this season, specifically managing a bullpen, were the options at the beginning of the season, frankly, were sort of uninspiring. You know. It was basically a Lexus Diaz and a bunch of guys, and I think the way David Bell on a big picture level has used that group to put this team in a position to be playing in the sort of games they're playing in is terrific. But on a micro level, you know, I'll
go back to Wednesday afternoon against Minnesota, A hundred Green was cruising. He was as good as he has been. He was dominant, He struck out fourteen, He had every pitch working, He was leading the ball game three to one. He had only thrown ninety two pitches, which, you know, for as much as they want to protect hundred Green, he is cleared a hundred pitches and eight of his starts this season. So that's they've been
willing to sort of length in the leash with him a little bit. And maybe he wasn't going to pitch a complete game, but it was really hard as Minnesota got a run off the jabo in the eighth inning to wonder how would this game play out if Hunter Green had been kept in for the eighth inning. You could second guess some of the individual decisions last night that that comes with the territory. And again, I think you can do multiple things.
I think you can acknowledge that with this club as young as it is, David Bell has done a really good job and I certainly believe deserving of
the contract extension that he got. But within the context of these games, in which each decision now matters so much, there are certainly some things that I think are very fair to wonder had a different decisions than made with the outcome have been different, Bengals have any chance of beating the Rams if Joe Burrow does not play Monday Night. Well, all I heard all summer was how good this team is, how great the wide receivers are, how good
the offensive line is, how wonderful a defensive coordinator Luana Rumo is, how much they like Jake Browning. If all those things are true, then sure they have a chance. If those things aren't true, then they have no chance. Now. Obviously, since the summer we've had two games to watch, the defensive line, which was terrific during preseason in the training camp,
has been beaten up Baltimore and Cleveland ran the ball very effectively. Now the Rams don't have and Nick Chubb, and they certainly don't have a Lamar Jackson. You know, I sort of look at it like this, if you're a quarterback making your NFL debut, there's a lot of guys in that set of circumstances that would like to have Jamar, Chase te Higgins and Tyler Boyd
to throw too. There are a lot of quarterbacks that would like to have what is supposed to be the best offensive line that Bengals have had in years to play behind. And there are a lot of quarterbacks that would like to be on a team that has a defense that it's probably not going to be gassed for forty points. And so all of those things play in Jake Browning's favor. Now, there's more about him that we don't know than we do, but he's also been in the system for three years. He's you know,
had Joe Burrows tutelage for whatever that's worth. So, you know, do I think they have no chance? I actually think they have a decent chance of eking out a win against an Oak Kate team, and which should be an awesome environment on Monday Night. But clearly, clearly you would prefer to have Joe. I would prefer to have Joe week twelve, which is why I would like to air on the side of caution and send them week
three and roll the nice with Jake Browning. And by the way, all summer long we talked about to the Bengals need to go get a backup quarterback. Well, if the answer was no, then you're comfortable with Jake Browning playing against the Ramps, and me personally am not. Moe, have a fantastic time and enjoy welcoming our visitors from Norman today. I'll do my best, all right, Moe egger that you see Oklahoma game today here on the
Big One. Mike Allen, you've heard of the story of Donovan Elementary in Lebanon City School District. Right third and fourth graders, they had an ice cream Friday and they they posted on a Facebook page. I guess that if students didn't have or had a negative balance in their lunch account, they couldn't have ice cream in the major controversy. Let's harken back to Eddie Murphy on
the story of the ice cream Man. Liam No, every one kid on the side and they're getting the ice cream and kids don't care to go. You don't have no eyes and didn't get you didn't get you didn't get you didn't get cost you are on no, well, Fama, you can't afford it, you can afod it. Other kids joining you can't afford. You can't afford and his father is an alcohol alright, do you want to eat some up my? But want a lick? Thank? There you go, dude, Can you turn Mike's Mike on? Please? Yeah? What the
heck? All right? No, I do remember that that guy was funny man. Well, but a lot of people didn't think the thing at eleven and at Donovan Elementary was I'm hearing about that for the first time. What's the big hubbub? Apparently if you've got a negative balance, you can't get food from the lunchroom and people were outraged, and I was like, well,
I mean that's a good life, lesson kids. Yeah, you would think, no, no responsibility, no accountability for anyone else, free ice anywhere, everything, damn it. If you don't get it, there's probably some kind of protest now being organized. What's on the show today, Mike, Hey, I'm going to talk about what happened this week with Marrick Garland's testimony before the House Intelligence or House Judiciary Committee. It was a big zero,
Gary Jeff. Absolutely nothing new was learned. He fell back on the usual I can't comment pending investigation, blah blah blah. We're gonna talk about that, and also our stellar Vice president Kamala Harris and the news again, but this time not for a word salad, but what she said. She said, the reason why young people aren't buying homes is because of climate anxiety, not higher interest rates, not skyrocketing inflation, not by noms. Oh no, no, no, it's kind of climate anxiety. So we're gonna
talk about that as a short show today, Gary Jeff. Only tell Levin will have Yiddi with our Reds report at ten thirty. All right, fantastic.
