The previous October, an artificially created self sustaining nuclear chain reaction demonstrated for the first time at the University of Chicago December two, nineteen forty two. On December second, nineteen fifty four, the Senate passed a resolution condemning Republican Senator Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin, saying he had acted contrary to Senatorial
ethics and tended to bring the Senate into dishonor and disrepute. All Joseph McCarthy did was call people on the carpet i e. In front of the Senate and asked them if they were in fact in cahoots with the Communist Party. As it turned out years later, we know that they were Hollywood i e. In twenty twenty, on this date and a video released on social media, President Donald Trump stood before a White House electern and talked about how he had actually won the election. That's not the way the AP wrote it, though. Here's the AP's history, which is supposed to be a non commentary site. I make the commentary after I read the historical milestone, but AP
decided the Associated Press decided to do it for everyone. In a video released on social media, President Donald Trump stood before a White House lectern and delivered a forty six minute diatribe against the election results that produced a win for Democrat Joe brought Biden unspooling one misstatement after another to back his baseless claim that he'd actually won. Sounds like comedy, Well, it would be funny if it weren't so serious. It sounds like commentary and not just a reporting of what

Yeah, they gave up over four hundred yards to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had not had not gained four hundred yards in fifty eight straight games until the Bengals. Yeah, you know you're you're not gonna

No, it doesn't. It's uh. I had a couple of things for you number one day from day and sent these along for you. Uh, since it's deer hunting season. Yes, and let's see. Why did the deer get braces? He had buck teeth, but buck buck teeth? What did the dose? What did the dough say when she came out of

Yes, yes, yes, what do you got? What do you got? Well? Smart, I got nothing. But we went to the Redspass last night. Yeah, tremendous. It was great. I mean, you know, no Sega Claus. Though. We kept looking and asking people like, hey, hey, anybody, what's Santa, And they're like, Santa is probably up on
the third floor because that's where the kids work. Yeah, went up there. Well, what was what was the best part of reds Fest? I think the interaction with like all the people and the players and everybody everything, you know, all the different memories and stuff conjured up. Were you a kid again? Dave, were you a kid, yes, watching the Big Red Machine, watching the Big Red Machine. Yes, it was, it was, It was I got my session with a big red machine. I
didn't. I didn't grow up in Cincinnati, so I never had that experience of the big red machine really, uh in my youth. To me, the big red Machine was a girl in the seventh grade named Trudy. I see we called her the big red Machine. I never understood why, but we did. Did she have two rings? I never got close enough to count the rings anyway? What else is on your mind? That's what I
was afraid of. The escalator broke down down there going up to the like the third floor there, and about fifty fifty of us were stranded on it for like an hour. What yeah? Serious? Escalator? That that that the event centers. You know it's getting old. Well, the escalator you could just walk up or down. You wouldn't have to be stranded. Dave, Yeah, well an hour telling you an how I got to meet Bob
CASTLENI that was exciting, very nice. Did he give you did he did he give you the h the ceremonial head of lettuce that he usually hands out to people. Good morning, Gary, Jeff Hey. This radio for this morning is a nineteen fifty six nine tube Grundig Majestic from West Germany. It is an AMFM shortwaves phonograph and a in a squatty little floor
cabinet. I don't know how to subscribe. It's got gootled legs and the radio tips out of the front and the topless up to expose the phonograph. And it sounded great. It was working the true five x five, and then I would swear suddenly Britney Spears was coming through this and the thing caught fire, and you know, it's just yeah, Britney Spears has ruined more than one radio, There's no question about that. But it's their birthday, so we give her a pass. Our friend Art Volo, who is known
as Radio's best friend. He is a guy who since the mid nineteen seventies has gone and recorded disc jockeys in there in their natural habitat in studios. While they were doing their radio thing, he was doing video of the I mean, he has a wonderful collection of people that should never be on camera.
Who reminded me this morning, Gary, Jeff, don't forget to ask Radio Rick about the dot at ninety nine point five on Zenith Radio dials, to see if you know what that was significant, why that was significant? The ninety nine point five the dot on a Zenith radio. Do you know that I need to look that up to his so as not to embarrass myself? Well, no, I mine though, Yeah, is that in depending
upon the age of the Zenith radios we're talking about. There were numerous radios that came out with the civil Defense markers at two points on the dial. But ninety nine point five, I'm assuming talking about FM. Yes, I don't know what that would be. Well, let me let me the Chicago owned station. Ah, let me tell you that dot at ninety nine point five FM on a Zenith radio was for w E FM in Chicago, which was owned by the Zenith Radio Corporation. Hey, one of my guesses panned
out. Yeah, I mean, like, you know the Crosley radios. They made a fuss about seven hundred, didn't they. Oh? Yes, there were several that. Well we call it stationized tunings, where the manufacturer would put the call letters of all the AM stations on there. Crosley did the same thing, except the only one they would spell out was WLW. There you go. Everything else was numbers. But then, wow, your
hunch was correct. Ninety nine point five was a xenophoned radio station and on the Xenis radios they put a little dot there at ninety nine point five FM, and they were a little more settled than Crosley apparently, Yeah, slightly. Well, you know, the quality goes in before the name goes on. Something to that effect. Anything else happened in your peace of the world. Oh, you just reminded me of the Zenith System three television in the
seventies. They got in a boatload of trouble over this one. What because the System three had a telephone and on the TV ads it showed this operator on the picture Saint Hello London calling, and people assumed this was a video telephone. No, it was just a forty five cent telephone bolted to the side of the TV cabinet. There's nothing to do with the electronics inside the TV at all. Well, I mean, why would a manufacturer get in
trouble or an advertiser get in trouble just because people are stupid? Well false advertising, somebody something got hurt something like that. All right, Well, uh, Gavin Nightcap on Tuesday, and we talked about doing something special, So we'll just leave that hanging out there and we'll be in touch. All right, excellent, we'll talk then, all right, Old Radio Rick at gmail dot com if you'd like to get in touch with him at any time. Sports and Weather on the way. Who's the man who can make you

Yeah, I mean Trevor Lawrence is probably one of the more attractive young lesbians that I've seen on an NFL field. Anyway, no comment needed there. We've got college football and some very consequential games relating to the College Football Championship playoff. Last night was one of
those pieces with Washington defeating Oregon in the last PAC twelve game. But today what we got, Liam, Yeah, we have a full slate of conference championships today starting at noon, Oklahoma State Texas Big twelve Championship matchup, Miami faces Toledo for the MAC Championship. How are you? I got about thirty seconds for you. What's on your mind? I just want to say that. I'm far from being a fan of John Fetterman, but apparently there. I saw a small segment he was on the View and said that in regard to the George Santos being kicked out of Congress, yeah that Bob Bennette Mendez
should also be kicked out. Oh hell yeah, because he actually even called him a senator from Egypt. He's been corrupt for so long that they just turn their heads and ignore it. I'm J D. Caffern. It's just the Bengals report Grulty in clerk by around some American grill on seven hundred WLW, the home of the
best Bengals coverage. That's been a few minutes with Bengals head coach Zach Taylor is standing by and goes some big news of the week, I guess is the status of Joe Burrow and his wrist. And supposedly the operation was a success, full steam ahead, just no high five and for a while, I guess that's the case. But everything will well and so that was good to hear, and that was the good news of the week. Yeah,
I was thinking back when he had the issue with his appendicitis. Typically, if you're appendicitis burst from everyone I've talked to, you're typically in a fair amount of pain before it gets to that point. Might he be the kind of guy that doesn't really speak up when he might be having a physical issue and just kind of keeps it to himself. No, I think every situation is different. But he's certainly a tough guy and that's why he's got to
worry us today. So that's that's part of playing a quarterback position. Yeah, the surgery, last I know, they're still saying it was done in an undisclosed location. Once it's done, is there a reason why it's an undisclosed location. I'm just curious. That's that one. I'll leave that to everybody else, but they will well, and so I think everybody was pleased with the outcome. All right, So looking back at last week, the big well, one of the big question marks has to do with a running
game and what to do there. Uh, the offensive line. These guys were brought in really to protect Joe Burrow, that was the purpose. Is the O line pretty much a group of guys who are better pass blockers than run blockers. No. I think they can do a little bit of everything.
And obviously our our offense has been geared towards the passing game. And you know, in your first game with the backup quarterback, the teams are going to be helping on making one dimensional and taking away the run and so making Grays challenges and we got to be better than we were last week all all around, as play calling, as player, everybody. So something that we'll focus a lot on and work to improof. We expect to see more
of Chase Brown this week. I think if he gets healthy, which he is right now, we'll do things that we can to incorporate him and and give him a chance to be productive. I guess you'll be up against your brother as offensive coordinator. Have you faced off as opponents in the past at all? Your brother Press, Yeah, we've played. This will be the fifth time we've put against each other. So I've done it Miami, I've done it in l A. I've done it here when we tied the Eagles
a couple of years ago. So he we put against each other quite a few times. All Right, issues that the Jaguars pos, What do you look at? What's what's too? I guess the top areas of concentration. Well, they're explosive on offense and their rush defense is as good as we faced. So they are really talented team. That's the reason they're having directed that they've got right now. They're playing really well. But our guys are
fired up. It's Monday night, football. This is this is one of the things our players always look forward to, and so it's a good opportunity for us, all right, looking forward to it myself. How are we in the mobile studio this morning? We are great. We're in the middle of the downtown Dora District, sitting in front of the welcome sign for that. So, how late does the Dora District stay open? Know? Is this anytime you can carry a beverage into the Dora District or just
between certain hours. I think it's a matter of just not getting caught. Everywhere is a Dora District as long as they don't catch you. Look, officer, look, officer, this cup. I got this cup right here. It's okay. We do have some cups in the back here. We can serve around here. We get our Dora cups, take them home and wash them and bring them back the next week. Oh that's a great idea. Look, you're not supposed to drink and drive, but nobody ever said
you can't. Nobody ever said you can't drink and serve, So you could actually be selling door cups from your car and mobile, going mobile around Ripley and selling people beverages out of the car. As long as you're not drinking the beverages while you're driving. It would seem to me like I mean, you'd need some kind of a license, I guess to sell the alcoholic beverages.
But would it be great if you just have door cups in your back seat and booze and you go around and just sell stuff to people on the street. Yeah, it would be. It would be. My second job is selling another type of lubritent good one. Why whatever are you talking about? That sounds uh, that sounds kind of open ended. Doug is selling lubricants on the streets of Ripley look Out and they don't wash it off of the Hot Toby either. No, so there there's there's something that there's some
things that will never wash off anyway. Uh, I hear that, I hear the Green Hornet is with you. Are you the only two that made the trip out this morning? Yes, yes, we are pretty foggy and dreary looking, but hopefully it's going to be better. Uh today, it's still going to be cloudy, but it's gonna stay warm. That's nice. Fifty five fifty six, Yeah, but you know we checked the weather report in Cancun. It's gonna be eighty six there and somebody I know here's going
that way. Yes, mister Bonnson, I know you and your lovely wife Angie are headed off to the sunny climbs of Mexico for a week and leaving us here to deal with the oncoming winter onslaught. I'm not an envious person. I don't believe that that is a worthwhile sin at all. So I am not going to covert your Cancun vacation. But I will tell you that if you run into any random drug cartels, probably want to steer clear of
those guys. Okay, I'm certainly going to try that. Yeah, okay, wait, they're probably probably not much yeah, probably not too much. Not too much danger of that in the swim up bar at the pool, No, no, hey. At Brookies this week, I didn't see a band listed for tonight, but this coming Wednesday, the Queen of Hearts at seven thirty is up to sixty two thousand five, so I know it will

All right, Well, listen, you guys have a fantastic trip number one, And you guys this morning, see if you can find any signs of life, See if you can peddle some Dora cups as you go from from street to street. Well, Sherry and I were down here. We heard that there are some submarine races down here on the river the Swine, but we didn't see them. Yeah, we didn't say submarine. What about snipe punts? Oh? Pitcher Amelio Pagan from the Minnesota Twins will join the bullpen the dealers for sixteen million and includes both a player option after the first season and extra performance bonuses. In addition, former Padres pitcher Nick Martinez signed a two year, twenty six million dollar contract that includes an opt out after the first season.
Martinez is expected to compete for a stot in the starting rotation during spring training. So do either one of these pitchers have a history of sore neck injuries? I do not believe, so okay, And both these pitchers have postseason experienced. Pagan pitch for the Twins last season in their run the Division Series, and Nick Martinez is a swinging, swing and miss pitcher. I'm excited. I think that's two really good signings to pull for the bullpen for

so let me know she is awake. Great to have you know. The forty one Philco is fired up and ready to go for this next segment. And Brooksy the cat Dog also tuned in. And our friend Steve from at in Ohiowo News of the week, a pithyphone calls, some histories, some mysteries, and let's see what he's got in the bag today. Good morning, Stephen, I am so damned excited. I can't believe it. Okay, I'll calm down. Great Mythsquotes of the century the Biden regime Secretary
of Education. You know what's coming up, Maguel Cardona speaking to the Western governors meeting recently about how his department will partner with governors to achieve education goals. Yes, he alleged quote, We're from the government, We're here to help. I'm not sure you want to say that. That was Reagan's sarcastic quote, which actually was the nine most terrifying words in the English language.
Are I'm from the government and I'm here to help. God Almighty Cardona This faux pap is doubly fascinating because I've heard numerous broadcast advertisers recently use this tagline We're here to help. I wondered if they knew the connotation of those words.
One assumes they have no knowledge of Reagan's famous quote might have been as most famous, which means the copywriter is fairly ignorant of cultural and political history, which, by extension, reflects on the education system that Secretary Cardona heads. Yes, it all comes around, doesn't it. It also reflects on the herd mentality that permeates the poor language system in America. Everybody seems to
want to copy bad and stupid English. Okay, this either gets the Irony Award or chickens come home to roost award and FBI special agents writing his suv in Washington, d C got cars act Yes, okay, sidebar story. Glenn Beck reported this this week. No more air marshals on our civilian planes. They're working on trying to round up the rest of the January sixth insurrectionis yep, that's right. Jimmy Carter's tribute to wife Rosalind quote Roseland was my
equal partner in everything I did. Oh my god, considering his failed presidency, that's a pretty negative thing to say about a very nice lady, your equal partner, roseland deserved better. Jimmy gets the worst eulogy by a husband for his wife award. Speaking of Jimmy Carter and his failed presidency, all this crap going on in the Middle East right now reminds me of the Iranian hostage crisis. Yes, Iran held sixty six diplomats and military personnel taken hostage
on November fourth, nineteen seventy nine at the US embassy in Tehran. That, by the way, is a gross violation of international law. I just thought i'd mentioned that, just you know, for ex and giggles. Carter attempted one rescue mission that failed miserably when the choppers broke down in the Iranian desert. Eight commandos were killed when two aircraft collided in the retreat. It was a metaphor for the US military, you know, ability to do anything.
By the way, do you remember the Canadian embassy harbored six US diplomats during this Yeah, they supplied fake passports, God bless you Canucks and got them through airport security and on to Switzerland. It's famously known as the Canadian Caper. We couldn't do it, but the Canadians could. By the way, on the hostages were there for four hundred and forty four days. On Ronald Reagan's first day in office January twentieth, nineteen eighty one, guess what
happened? We got the fifty two hostages back. Wow, how does that happen? Speaking of how to handle the bad guys? To lie the fourth, nineteen seventy sixth is that date? Rigovel with anybody? Yeah? Well it was the Endtiv raid. Yes, Israeli counter terrorism raid in Uganda's Oh I love this story, That's why I'm doing it. Terrorists, well you know what they were. Palestinian terrorists hijacked and took hostage two hundred and forty
eight passengers on an international flight that had just left from Tel Aviv. The terrorists demanded release of forty Palestinian prisoners in Israel sound familiar, and another thirteen prisoners in four other countries. One hundred and forty eight non Israeli passengers were then released in two days. Now. That left ninety four remaining passengers,
mostly Israelis. Of course, and the twelve member crew. Terrorists threatened to kill one hundred and six of the hostages if the Palestinian prisoners were not released immediately. Now, what would you do if you were Israeli intelligence? Well, let me tell you what they did. They gathered together one hundred commandos. They flew them two thousand, five hundred miles to Edia Means Ugunda. In ninety minutes, one hundred and two of the hostages were rescued. Three
of them were killed. The Israeli commandos suffered one killed. It happened to be the brother of the future Prime Minister Benjamin not Yahu. All of the terrorists and forty five Ugandan soldiers were killed. And that, Folks, is the name of that tune boy. There was a time, wasn't there. Henry Kissinger died this week at the age of one hundred. Oh my goodness, best imitation of Henry Kissinger in the media Pierce Sellers in Doctor Strangelove,
Folks reat Doctor Strangelove. If that ain't Henry Kissinger, I don't know anything. January nineteen seventy three, Henry and Lee duck Tow, the North Vietnamese bad guy, got together and they engineered the Paris Peace Treaty on Vietnam in April of nineteen seventy five. Of course, it ended with the North invading all of the South. You know that agreement that they made, It was violated by the North in twenty four hours. You know what doctor K's reward
was. He and Lee Ductee got the Nobel Peace Prize. You know, I used to piss off my relatives, we were all Republicans, because I was discombobulated by Nixon on several counts. And I used to say, you know, when Dick said he had a planned to in the war in Vietnam, I said, I guess he did lose. That was the plan. By the way, Nobel Peace Prize also later went to Yasser Arafat. Hasn't it also gone to Adolf Hitler? I don't know, But you know, it's just all such a farce anymore. God bless you, man, God
bless you. Barack Obama got a no Pill Peace Prize just for showing up. That means absolutely nothing. Seeking a new escape, look no further than the all new sun Seekers Ort Charlotte Harbor. Our friend Steve Shulty, environmental engineer extraordinaria standing by with some real climate news for it, saying I used to get yes. As we speak, the UN Climate Summit is going

Also, the National Climate Assessment number five on the docket this morning with mister Schilty. Hello Steven Moore here, Jeff, Yes, sir, let's get to it. What do we got let's get to
it. Well, first you mentioned the National Climate Assessment number five. Got some comments from the Climate Change Roundtable number eighty eight from the Heartland Heartland dot org or the Heartland Institute, and just one a couple of comments they made.
Uh, they talked about how, uh the chapters in this report are written by government bureaucrats who claim these scientists, uh, those are also also others are involved in carbon credit trading and also ng os like Nature Conservancy and others, and all three groups getting billions and billions and billions of dollars from US beleaguer taxpayers, from the beast governments and uh and they and there's no
where where's the charges of bias? Gary, Jeff? You know, if they if they report had any quote unquote energy company money involved in it, we'd be hearing it, you know. Uh, buyers report, buyers report. But uh, all these people can get billions and billions of dollars from
US believable beleaguered taxpayers, and nothing said about beleaguered report. However, despite the bias, they had to say one thing that was good, and that is that they acknowledge the US has decreased Sea two for those who care more than any other country, of course, you know, but who gets the
blame. We get the blame. Since twenty seventeen, for every one megawatt hour of cold generation of power generation dismantled in the West, two point two million megawatts two point two megawatt hours of cold generation increase in China and in India. In fact, India are has already said they will increase coal generation fifty percent between now twenty thirty thirty five. And we know China already already has hundreds of coal power plants in various stages, and they're building, they're
building more every single day. This is always been about follow the money and redistribute and redistribution of wealth from successful economies to unsuccessful uh you know economies, and to third world countries. That's what it's always been about. It's what it's still about and for anybody to believe it has anything to do with saving the planet, they're obviously either being paid off as you mentioned, or or

Seven d W l W Time to get physical with our trainer in biohacker, Rocco Costelano. This morning
we're talking about vegans and meat. Impossible impossible meat and uh, Rocco, I have a problem. I want your problem. They got. The problem was somebody convinced me that I should try a soy latte, and and I liked it. And when I when I drank the second soy latte, I noticed that my breasts had started to grow. Okay, so that's one of the first lives, right, there. But that's the right thing. U. Well, I'm going to tell you it's a very very very weird world
we live in right now. But you think when you deal with vegans, okay, because well, have you ever gone out with a vegan? Have you ever like went to dinner with with a vegan? No, there's no, there's no, there's no point. Well I have because my sister in law is a vegan. And whenever you go out with a vegan, the you know, like the server comes up up to the table and they just wanted to order drinks, and the first words out of any vegan's mouth is
I'm a vegan. I'm a vegan. And they want to tell everyone that they're a vegan, and it's like a religion. And that's what bothers me is because they want to shove the veganism down your throat. But then they decide that they want want to have things that taste like meat, and it's such a hypocritical thing, very similar to what to how like you know, the liberals thing. So I'm going to tell you that I'm really not a big fan of when you want to tout your veganism and you're a vegan,
and you want vegetables and all that stuff. And I do believe that eighty percent of your of your diet should be vegetable or like plant based. But if you're going to keep pouting your veganism, I don't want to hear things that you want to use crossing mult processed food rocco. This is This is the same thing with any group that is militant about anything that want to beat you over the head with their identity of who they say they are, how
they identify themselves. I don't care what your I don't care what your sexual orientation is. I don't want it screamed at me from across the room. Though. If you're gay, you're gay, that's fine. If you're lesbian, that's fine. But I don't need to be beaten over the head with that fact. And it's the same thing you're talking about. Anybody who is militant about something that's so niche that they believe in that they have to tell
everyone about is just annoying. And I don't have time for those people. I understand exactly what you're saying, well, but it's the hypocritical nature of it. Also, because I really don't if you're doing something and you're saying something about being a vegan and you want vegetables and fruits as your main source of a nutrition, but you still want the teaste of me. That is
so hypocrite to me. And then in order to make something taste like meat, they have to use the same molecule it's called heme h e me heme to make it taste like meat. It's the same molecules that actually makes meat taste like meat. So you're using the same molecule in order to make something taste like something that that you supposedly hate. Well, this is Roco.
This is why, this is why, whenever possible, I keep some cooked bacon in my pocket just just in case I run into a militant vegan, so I can, as they're telling me about their veganism, I can pull the real bacon out of my pocket and begin eating in front of them.
Train with Roco dot com and by the way, we're asking for your questions for Roco for this coming Tuesday. For this Tuesday Night's Nightcap, go to train with Roco dot com, or you can go to Gary Jeff Walker at seven hundred WLW dot com with questions for Rocko for this coming Tuesday Night's nightcap. and just silly stories from across the country and around the world. Here once again the aforementioned TD. Good morning Gary, Jeff. This week one man's dream of reaching space with his favorite candy bar. But first, the carnage on America's roadways continues unabated. A man in Missouri has made headlines for leading police on a high speed chase while towing his house. And this wasn't some tiny house hippie pulling along his mother gaya worshiping shoebox. No, this bad
boy was hauling you know what while hauling his seventy foot double wide. The chase ended when he rolled over during his sharp turn. Now, speaking of crash is up in Lake County, two semis collided, causing all kinds of ruckus because one was hauling chocolate and the other was hauling Carmel. I ninety was closed down for hours because of quote sticky lanes. A man has to have a dream, and a man in Florida known only as JD has a big one. He wants to collect one million copies of Titanic on VHS,
and he's asking for your help. He's reaching out on social media to help him scour stores, yard sales, and he's even asking fans to donate their own copies. So far, he's got about twenty five hundred. And speaking of weird dreams, a guy who owns a restaurant in Scotland had a dream of launching a candy bar into space, and he did through some kind of
modified cannon thing. He recently shot and appropriately enough a Mars bar sixty two miles up into space, but then it was caught by gravity and it rocketed back towards the Earth at two hundred miles an hour, ending, as so many dreams do, in a smoldering crater. Better luck next time. Next time. The NYPD has finally found the Barbie Bandit have a great weekend. Listening to Scott Sloane keeps my teeth from falling out. People have made some

Monday morning at nine on seven hundred WLW. The Bengals are back home on Sunday, December tenth at one o'clock to take the Indianapolis calls, bring your hometown pride and help up West Bengals coverage. Tony Pike can standing by. First of all, Good morning, Tony. How are you? What's going on about it? How are you? I did not get a chance to watch last week's game because I was traveling your thoughts on r PAL. Jake on his debut in the NFL for a backup to command the situation like
that. Did you think he was average, admirable somewhere in between. Yeah, I thought it was average. I thought there was some good some bad. You saw why Jake Browning, you know, is a backup. You know there are arm strength questions. The release is a little bit longer, and he's had he's had a problem with turnovers, and that stems back to when he was at Washington. You know, he threw one interception, probably could have been three. I just didn't I didn't think the game plan sinked.
Really a backup quarterback Jamar Chase only got six targets. They only ran the ball of Joe Mixon eight times. Nothing from a game plan standpoint, I thought really made sense to give him the best opportunities to succeed. Well, how long do you pound the running game? If you've you're getting an average of I think two yards of carry, Maybe that's it. How often do you continue to go back to that well? Or do you keep going
till you bust one loose? You know, it's one of those things in the run game where you might not get much first and second quarter, but if you keep doing it, you wear down the defense and it opens up some things in the third and fourth quarter. It's hard because if you're just going to rely on, oh, we didn't run the ball two yards to carry it, it's really hard to pass in the NFL if you're in second, ten or third and long a lot. So I would keep pounding it.
At some point you have to break one at some point, you got to wear down the defense a little bit, and when you do that, it then slows down the pass rush and it opens other things up for you in the passing game. All right, what kind of hill of the have to climb against the Jags. Well, Jacksonville is one of the best teams in the AFC. They're eight and three. They're up there in the lost column with three other teams, and they're legit from Doug Peterson at head coach
to what Trevor Lawrence and Travis etn can do. They're getting great play on the defensive side of the ball right now. It is a team that can legitimately win a Super Bowl. And I think when you have that, if you are the Bengals, you've got to take the fight to them early. You know, it's one of those things on the road prime time. If you get down by two scores early and you really make yourself one dimensional,
you're going to be in for an uphill battle. But take the fight to them, control the time of possession and see if you can make it a fourth quarter game and walk out of there and shock the world and get a win and have the defense step up too, like they have not recently. One hundred percent the bend but don't break defensive philosophy has not worked the last couple of weeks for lou anor Rue. This is a big week for that. You're probably going to get Cam Taylor Britt back. Your defense is pretty
much back to full strength. What can you be and what can you get from Loue Rumo, who we talked about for a while as the next head coaching candidate in the NFL. What can they get from him going forward? Should be very interesting, no doubt. All right? Got it? Roun Tony Pike, thank you, have a mamlous weekend. See you later. with me the music professors here, so tell me about now. The Grassroots were interesting because there was really no band at first, right, set me straight up? Yeah, they Yeah, this is a creation. Rob Grill became the lead singer with this is a Creation. I'm in Hollywood, California, Dunhill Records. The owner of Dunhill Records, Lou Adler, put this all together. He had an idea and he had a couple of writers,
producers. P F Sloan. PF wrote The Eve Destruction for by mcglass and Steve bet for two of them, and he had them at Downhill and he said, I want to write songs and let's capitalize on the interest in folk rock music today. So that was the whole idea to create this sound and he did so. He created this sound and the musicians but they were singers in the group. Then Rob Grill came in and they took over as the lead singer, and they used the Wrecking Crew for the recording sessions that everybody
used in California. And of course they put a group together to go on the road and sing the songs. And they had a lot of hits. They had fourteen top forty singles, but this was the biggest number five. In nineteen sixty eight, they had this song that was done on a demo by the Ever Ever Green blues band that nobody ever heard of. Yeah, and this particular song, the Midnight Confessions, took off and became the biggest hit number five in nineteen sixty eight. Is Rob still with us? No
No, he passed away a number of years ago. Yeah No. And then the single and this song is tormented because he loves this girl. But you heard you know the gold Rings we can't have her well, you know. And then there's the story of the wife who is found to be unfaithful by the businessman coming home after a late late night at work. RB Greaves would have celebrated a birthday this past week or the weekend. Yeah, yeah, we had Tuesday. Tuesday, he would have celebrated birthday. The nephew
of Sam Cook. So it's in the jeans now. He grew up on a se know Indian reservation in the United States, ended up going to England. It was big around the Caribbean and in England under another name, and then he used his real name with art again. Atlantic Records took him under the wing, got him down to Muscle Shoals. It was interesting, now this record came out of Muscle Shoals. There was two groups of Muscle Shoals, the same studios that everybody knows about, and then a bunch of guys
broke away and had their own studios, the Muscle Showals Sound Studios. And this was the first hit record, the first gold record to come out of that little studio. They were little depressed, the guys, they were doing stuff, nothing was happening, and then this song that they didn't think They thought it was a good song, but didn't think it was anything that special,
and it came this giant hit. And the story is, of course, a guy who learned of his wife's infidela be He dictates a letter to his secretary of Maria, and then we find out there is yet we find out in the last first that he's hitting on her. Maybe she's going to be Maria's going to be his news lover. Well, you know what's what's good. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Jim, that's how I look at this. I mean, you know, he's nineteen
sixty nine. RB Greaves remembered on his birthday week last night, as I got home about or half fast in there was a woman I can on knew, in the arms of another man. I kept my cool. I ain't no food. Let me tell you what happened. Then I packed some clothes and I walked out, and I ain't going back again. So take a letter, Maria, I dress it to my wife. See I will be coming home. Gotta stop under your life. Take a letter, Maria. I dress it to my wife. Said I'm gonna be to my lawyer gotta
stop under your life. You've made many baseball most not more A good secretary to me, and it stands like me survey, you've always been close to me. Was a wrong to good knights to try to build the good life all work and lovely has just cast me a wae sing a maria a messen to my wife, see I will be coming home. Got a sign a new life, I persen to my mother said, not a bee to my mother. A new life one a man, not a woman. It's hard to understand, but she would find more pleasure in the hows of a man.
I'm not the last stats you up to me. It just but something free to night will be will take that off. I'm Corria. I'm doing some Junes with the music professor Jim Lebarbara on a Saturday Morning Rock and Roll Archaeology on seven hundred W l W. Gary, Jeff Here and Jimmy. See now. In that last verse, he says, I've never really noticed how sweet you are to me? Would you like to? I don't consider that hitting on the secretary, I'm sorry, just a difference of opinion here.
So so there seems to be a theme not only people's birthdays, so we put the songs. But I'm just noticing this theme of infidelity that's running through this thread this morning, and the next song is certainly no exception. Well, Billy Paul, Billy Paul, great singer, what a celebrated birthday yesterday. Another guy who passed away a while back, had the number one record in nineteen seventy two Me and Missus Jones. Well, this guy eleven
years old. He started singing. His career began at at the age of eleven, and he's a local radio station in Philly. He's sixteen. He's played in the club Club Harlem and Philly and on the same bill as the great jazz saxophone player Charlie Parker's Bird. And he said he's learned more than one week from Charlie Parker than he would have learned in two years. So
he really was into the business. Love jazz singer Billy Holiday did some stuff, nothing happened, and then can it Gamble and Leon Huft the Sound of Philadelphia. Those guys have an idea for a song. They would go to a little bar that was in the same building where they had the recording studio. And this guy used to come into the bar every day. A little guy looked like a judge, they said, and every day he'd come in, then he'd sit down, and then after him would be this little girl.
This lady would come in about ten fifteen minutes later, and they goe They sit in the same boost, close to one another. Then they go to the jukebox and every day play the same songs. And they're sitting there one day and they look at each other and said, that's me and Missus Jones. And then they'd get ready to leave and they would go separate ways and then wait a little while. Then sheeaply, you know, they'd leave and they would upstairs. Created a story about this, and that's exactly what
they did. Went to the office, created this story and Billy Paul got in the studio, recorded the song and they say hit about the song subject matter. Doris Day had a big record called Secret Well in the fifties and if you listen, the intro is the saxophone comes in and it's playing the first line from that doors. They hit Secret Love. This became number one record. Only one he had. Billy called me and Missus Jones, Oh yeah, welcome to the Quiet Store. Throw you lovers out there. We're
playing your soundtrack. Relax, get comfortable and think about the secret one you loved. Me and missus Jones, we got our thing go. We both know that bit is to wrong, but it's much just wrong to let hit to Now we meet there day at the same cafe sixty thirty no one No, she read me holding had made me all kind to BD. And because she's got an aplications and SUP and the new thought, mister mister Jo, we gotta be going. We you know it's wrong, but it's too much, too strong tod that it goes. Now, well, it's time for us to bid the thing. It hurts so much, It hurts so much inside. Now she'll go all away and I, oh my tom me the same thing the same time, mister Joke, mister Jim, We've got
a thing go in on seven. Thank Billy Paul on rock and roller archaeology, and we've come to the last of our tunes this morning. And he has kind of a steamy con concept too. I mean, we we got all kinds of just very sensual music going on here and some forbidden love this morning. Now we're playing with fire. Yeah. June Pointer joined. June Pointer, the youngest of the Pointer sisters, would have celebrated birthday on Thursday.
She died at a very young age. And the Pointer sisters mom and dad were ministers in Oakland, California, and they were encouraged to listen in sing gospel music and add in church every Sunday morning, and the blues and rock and roll was well they were that was considered the samples the devil's music. But they got together and the group was born with June and her older sister Bonnie, and they did background work. Initially it's like Boss Gags,
Alvin Bishop, Gracie Flick, and then then they got discovered. Bishop Alvin Bishop introduced them to the folks at Atlantic Records. They signed him up to Atlantic Records. Now, June had problems. She left the group and seventy five, because of mental physical exhaustion, went back and that's when they had to hit them. When she went back, they had one after another two Grammy Awards, Automatic Jump from My Love. You know he's some shy slow
hand. We'd go on and on, but this was the first thing that they had that was a hit, and she did. She struggled with drug addiction and died at the very young age and it was a tragic death. But they had this song. They got this song. It was a small dream love song written by Bruce Springsteen, and Bruce wanted to record this song, but he couldn't because he was having the litigation problem with his former manager, so he couldn't do this song initially. And he wrote the song incidentally,
especially for Elvis Presley, his idol. Elvis Presley got Elvis adamo of the song in nineteen seventy seven, but before Presley could record it, he died. And sometimes if you listen to Bruce's music, he writes from the perspective of a guy burning with desire. It come off it comes off a little bit like a predator. But when you listen to this song, the girl is saying no, but he's not accepting that answer because her kiss tells
a different story. So when it's done. From the girl's point of view, those concerns are put aside, and the Pointer Sisters make it clear they are welcoming these advances and the song of course the fire prov thank you so much, good stuff. Jim and Barbara joining us once again, the Pointer sisters remembering June Pointer on fire. I'm running in your car. You turn on the radio. You're I just say no. I don't remember anything giving a forty percent reduction in getting dementia. This is out of the Tokyo I know they had
this Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology, so they do have one. So they looked at eleven nine hundred adults between the ages of sixty five and eighty four. I questioned them about their exercise, diehabits. Pet ownership. Came back to him about four years later, and what they found out is of those people that own dogs, they have a forty percent chance less chance of acquiring dementia. And well, were there any cat dogs in the study? Yes,
there were cats. They only do one percent. Well, no, but this is a cat dog, so I'm thinking I'm improving. AT's not a transgender thing. No, the cat dog is a it's trans species. I walk up praying for you and your listeners. Thank you. So, how is filming going on the Spirit Works movie? It's going, Gary. It's a slow process because everybody worked different shifts. It's hard getting everybody together at one time. But I'm not complaining. It is moving. We're filming today at one point thirty. It's
just a process. And this again, is this again? For yeah? Go ahead? I'm sorry, Please, Well, I'm sorry. I'm just I say today. Is I love this description of who God called us to be. It's from First Peter, chapter four, verse ten. It says each if you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. Don't you love that? Gary? That is absolutely the best. I don't know, it's the best template
for you want to do the will of God. Well, the first thing that you need to do is use the gifts that God has given you, and He's given us all as individuals, different gifts. We're all here for a reason. We all have a purpose to serve, and the real trick is finding out what that is. But if you if you know what the talents are that you have been blessed with by God, it's much easy, to easier to fulfill your purpose if you just concentrate on those talents. I
believe that wholeheartedly. Oh yes, it is. Gary. I just love giving because in me it just feels natural. It's just like breathing in my opinion, giving yep, and it is. It is that time of year too. It should be all year round, but we concentrate on giving more this time of year than probably any other on the calendar. But I'm I'm with you on that. With Boyle County and Boyle County. Their head coach, the head coach for West Virginia played at
Boyle. The one of the defensive coordinators for UC played at Boyle County. It's like a little bit of a powerhouse football area. I think it's kind of like a football factory in Kentucky. Yeah, because Danville is the city in Boyle and Danville. They call it title town Danville and Boyle. There's like twenty combined state championships now probably twenty one man between the two schools two Way and four A. It's a cool little football town. You gotta love
it. And Saint Edward is kind of the same way in Ohio as far as being a football factory. They're there every year, aren't they. To my knowledge from what I've heard, I'm not as familiar with Ohio, but yeah, I heard it's a common occurrent Saint Edward in Masalon. Always winning titles in a college football is huge. Today it's the last real weekend of
the season. Now next weekend there's the traditional Army Navy game. But as far as implications for a national championship, there are some huge games today. Yeah, Washington beat Oregon thirty four to thirty one last night to probably secure a college football playoff spot. And there's a lot of conference championships games today, starting with Oklahoma State and Texas for the Big Twelve Championship. Texas has a long shot, long ways to go, need a lot of things to
happen, but there's an outsiders chance there. Miami, Ohio faces Toledo in the MAC champion and neither one of them have a chance to go to the national Championship. No, but Toledo has a chance to compete as a group of five team in a New Year six Bowl. Ah Georgia Alabama SEC Championship at four rolltide, Michigan, Iowa Big Ten champions Ohawk guys in Louisville, Florida State ACC Championship at eight o'clock. Also all right, man. Not
a bad season for Louisville either, as you may and lost time. the audience. It's intermission time. The dog's taking a break. But before the dog can get down from the piano bench himself, a big dog walks in the front door of the nightclub, marches down the aisle, trudges up the steps, reaches out, grabs the little dog at the piano by the neck and carries him out of the club. Nightclub owner looks at the talent agent said what was that? He said, Well, that was his mother.

Today on what is officially outside of the Army Navy game, the last week of the major college football season with conference championships and the like, including the Mustangs facing off against the Green Wave. I don't know if we'll talk about it, but why not. We got plenty of time.
Moe Egger's here, Hey Mo, what's going on? Hey? Tell me about the Mustangs playing the Green Wave in the AC Championship game today? Remember the act? Well I do. These are two really good teams. Unfortunately, SMU doesn't have its starting quarterback, which is going to take the shine off at a little bit. But look, Tulane won the Cotton Bowl last year beat USC. Most of that team is back to lanees a three and a half point favorite against a good Mustang's team. This would be a
really fun game and probably still will be but a really fun game. FSM, You've had its quarterback. But nonetheless, I mean these are I know the act is you know has been picked through with all the defections. But uh, Tulane won it last year and that's with Cincinnati in it. They came to Knippert Stadium and beat the Bearcats at the end of last season. They have continued that success and I expect them to do that do more of it today. What about some of the others that do not get the notoriety.
There's a UNLV and Boise State, isn't that? Is that the Mountain West or what is that? And some Mountain West. But if we're going to go that route, we've got to talk about the MAC Conference championship. Well, we were going I was I was gonna get I was going to get to Toledo and Miami of Ohio. But but just tell me about Boise State and UNLV real quickly. Uh, they're going to play for a conference
championship today. Okay, thank you? That answers that bell. All right, Toledo, you want to talk about the Rockets and Miami of Ohio. Uh, so let's do it. Well, Miami has given up the fewest points in a season in the back of any team since two thousand. Their defense is terrific. And you know, obviously, when they beat the Bearcats this year the first time since two thousand and five, a lot of us wondered, Okay, what's that going to mean for Cincinnati, And my takeaway
was, I think the Bearcats has lost to a pretty good team. And the RedHawks are ten and two, their only league loss king to Toledo in a game in which their quarterback Brett Gabbert suffered an injury, and so they're going to have to rely upon Avon Smith. Toledo's offense the best in the MAC by far. This is going to be a really interesting game. And you know, look, as much as we talk about UC and Ohio State in Ohio and college football, the Ohio school playing for a conference championships,
Chuck Martin's team, he's done a terrific job there. They've had a very good season, and it'd be cool to see if they can win with a backup quarterback in that defense against Toledo, no doubt, no doubt. Let's talk about some of the bigger boys here. First off, Oklahoma State faces off again Texas today Texas, A lot of things would have to happen. But this is kind of on the periphery of the college football championship scope. But Oklahoma State Texas, how do you see this one shaping up? MO?
Well, I think Oklahoma State is gonna have to rely on Ali Gordon, who's one of the best running backs in all of college football, a guy that if you're a UC fan, you saw what he could do firsthand, especially in the second half. They're gonna have to lean on him. They're gonna have to lean on that big offensive line, They're gonna have to
lean on that defense. And look, I mean look, if Texas wins and Alabama wins the SEC Championship game, I think we could have a pretty interesting discussion about who deserves to be in the playoff because Texas went to Tuscaloosa and beat Alabama and so, yeah, it's a little bit on the periphery
because some stuff does have to happen. First thing that has to happen for Texas is they have to beat an Oklahoma State team that you know, let's be honest, I don't think when the Big twelve season started anybody really expected the Cowboys to be there. They survived that game against BYU that felt like
they tried to lose it a bunch of different times. And look, that's an Oklahoma State team that's also sort of carrying the flag for what the Big Twelve is going to be moving forward, because Texas is done after this game, is Big Twelve members, Oklahoma State is staying. There's a lot of hurt feelings. I'm not sure how much of that is going to play out on the field today, but I do think it has a chance to be a pretty interesting game, especially if Oklahoma State can get its running game going.
Let's talk about what happened last night out in the last Pack twelve championship game, where Washington prevailed over Oregon. Fun game, great game, quite honestly, and Washington essentially clinches a bid in the College Football Playoff. The two teams had played prior in what was one of the begger better games of the regular season, and yet Oregon was still a pretty heavy favorite against Washington. They jumped out to a ten point halftime lead, eventually comes back and
takes the lead. Washington with their likely Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and Michael Pennix comes back and they win the game, and it was a surreal feeling watching the game last night. Chris Baller and Kirk Kurbsrey called it for ABC, the feeling that that's going to be it. That's the last PAC twelve football game, that's the last PAC twelve championship game. Washington wins it, and
I think that's a league. You know, no Pac twelve team had made the playoffs since Washington did it with Jake Browning, the Bengals current starting quarterback in twenty eighteen. This is a PAC twelve team that I think would compete in some of the other conferences. I think they have a puncher's chance once they get to the playoff, and they're going to be in because they never lost a game, no doubt. Another undefeated team, Georgia goes against the
Alabama Crimson Tide. Is the Nick Saban last minute magic there today for the Tide? Or did the Bulldogs continue to roll and roll right on through the SEC to the College Football Championship. They've been the best team I think over the second half of the season. Their unblemished record over the last twenty nine games speaks for itself. I have a hard time believing that Alabama wins.
There is a big, big part of me hoping that Alabama wins, because I would like to wake up tomorrow morning and there'd be some degree of uncertainty about who's going to make the playoff. The only way that that happens is if one of these one loss teams figures out a way to win, or I guess maybe if Iowa figures out a way to beat Michigan. But frankly, if you've watched Georgia all season long, as dynastic as the Crimston Tide have been over the last fifteen or so years, george has been the best
team all season. They're playing in their home state. I like the Bulldogs. Well, you mentioned a no loss team that just seems to be steamrolling through coach or no coach. Michigan playing the Hawkeyes today, my dad's alma mater, the home state where I was born. I am a proud Hawk guy through and through. Is there any way that smothering defense of Kirk Ferenz and the Iowahaw guys can somehow find a way to beat the Michigan Wolverines today?
Well, I think, unfortunately, you have to look at the game that Iowa played against the best Big Ten team on their schedule as a guide, hence they beat him thirty one nothing. I just don't know that Iowa is going to be able to score. They haven't been able to score against teams that aren't good, aren't as deep and artist talented as Michigan. But I do think there's something about that Iowa defense that you have to consider.
Michigan in the second half of the season was not a great throwing team. We saw what they did against Ohio State last week. I guess if you could figure out a way to slow him down on the ground and make JJ McCarthy, the Michigan quarterback, beat him with his arm, maybe they have a chance. But look, it's it's been comical for those who are into sports wagering. The amount of times that the under is hit when the number has been low for Iowa games has been pretty remarkable. I just I don't
trust that offense at all. And again I watched that Penn State Iowa game. Hawkeys couldn't move the ball at all. They couldn't move the ball against Penn State, tinket stands the reason they're going to have a hard time against the Wolverines. So I mean, unless they are just given the ball on the five yard line of Michigan, probably not going to work out. And even then that could be a conundrum for the Iowa Hawkeyes offense. It's just
not a good offensive team. You brought that up. I'll tell you what. A team that is playing for a championship resides right here in Cincinnati at TQL Stadium. They will be hosting the Columbus Crew tonight. FC Cincinnati the game the first time ever on the Big One tonight. Your thoughts on FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew. This is going to be awesome. You know, when FC Cincinnati joined Major League Soccer, we were wondering is Columbus going to
be able to keep its team? And we all hoped so because we all envisioned a really fun geographic rivalry that at some point couldn't matter. Right, well, it can't matter more. A trip to the MLF Cup Championship is on the line. You know, I think you have two teams that have played against each other twice. The second game was FC Cincinnati's one of their only real clunkers this year. They lost that game in Columbus three nothing. It was just prior to their US Open Cup semi final against Miami, so
there might have been a slight look ahead factor there. But Columbus said goodbye to its former MVP midway through the season, and their first game without him, they beat FC Cincinnati. The Orange and Blue are going to be without Matt Miosga, the defender of the year. They don't have Nick Haglin. They won the game last week without those two players against Philadelphia at home home, but they're going to have to be better with the ball. They're going
to have to be better offensively. This environment tonight is going to be unbelievable. They've been the best team all season long. Can they survive against a good rival opponent who has beaten them without their best defender. It's going to be interesting to see tonight. A friend of mine brought up something that I hadn't realized until this morning. I knew it, but I hadn't really thought
about it. This year's Redsfest continues day two today at the Convention Center, and this is the first Reds Fest, well, the first year without Tom Browning. He passed last December nineteenth, but still a full day of activity at Redsfest. Is there anything particularly that you'd recommend that people have to see at Redsfest. Well, I think if you have kids and they want to get up close and get a moment with their favorite players, this is the
opportunity to do that. And the lions can be long, there's no around that. And you have some of those adults who bring full equipment bags full of stuff to get signed, which I don't really like. But I think if you have kids, some of the kids programming they have and just the ability. You know, you could go to a game and hope that maybe a guy will come over and sign, but that's not likely and you have
to be in the good seats for that to happen. Boy, if you have a kid and he or she loves the Reds and has a favorite player, this is the chance. And my experience at RedFest has been how awesome the players have been with everybody. They're accessible, they know why they're there, they're friendly, they're accommodating, and so I just I say that to people all the time. I don't think Reds Test it could be fun for adults, but boy, if you have a kid who loves the Reds,
there's nothing better. Sean Miller and Xavier have been playing some pretty high profile opponents and with varying results this year. You see still undefeated, but the Bearcats haven't really played a high quality of opponents yet. That all changes for the Bearcats next Saturday, crossdown, shootout time and any kind of glimpse I had at that game real quick, mo, Well, you know Xavier is
having a hard time coalescing. And what makes them it makes it even more difficult to come together when you have ten newcomers, is when you play a team as good as Houston. Because you saw it last night, the Musketeers twice in that game, it felt like was gonna get away from them. They come back. Houston had an answer every single time. You're right,
Cincinnati hasn't really been tested against a very good opponent. They've played one, you know, major conference team in Georgia Tech, and they beat him by thirty five points. I don't think Georgia Tech is all that good. I think if you're just using what you've seen on the floor this year as a guide, I think Cincinnati is the better team. But it's the Cinta Center.
They haven't won there in twenty years. Sean Miller is a great coach, and I do think that Xavier team is going to start to play better. And I think, you know, after they lost to Oakland the other night, a lot of people kind of gave them no chance against Houston. I thought they defended well last night. I thought they did a good job of kind of making the game ugly. Xavier's probably going to have to do that next week. And I think if this game was going to be at
UC we would talk about Cincinnati having a very good chance to win. If you're a Bearcat fan, and you know I am, you know how difficult winning in the Cintas Center has been, It's going to be difficult next Saturday. All right, Well, we'll have a fantastic weekend. Go Orange and Blue FC Cincinnati all the way to the MLS Championship. And we will talk soon, my friend Mike Allen. Saturday midday, coming right up. What's on the Big Show today, Michael, Well, we're going to talk about

The Ohio Republican Party did something yesterday that I don't think they've ever done before. They endorsed Donald Trump. They normally don't endorse in any Republican primary, but you know,

She is the reporter from the Epic Times assigned to the Trump campaign. We're going to talk to her about the Black Lives Matter endorsement the Rhode Island chapter that Trump picked up this week. She talked to the guy who's the head of that thing and who actually
took the endorsement. What about the three hundred thousand dollars for retouching up the BLM I saw thing downtown. What's that all about? I don't know. Why is the City of Cincinnati or any of their the advocates still supporting a Marx organization of grifters and trans people and also people who steal money and buy mansions. Well, that's what I'm saying, grifters. I have no idea. Black Lives Matter is kind of They're all over the place. Back in
