I cannot believe that I don't get to watch my Kansas City just because I don't have
the stupid peacock. That's ridiculous. NFL games, especially on Super wild Card weekend, ought to be on regular TV, capitalism, regular TV. And it's gonna be thirty. It's gonna feel like negative thirty degrees tonight in Kansas City. I would you rather be at the game Anyway, if we leave now, we can make it. No, tickets are pretty cheap. They're are forty bucks before feest. I didn't like getting in like car to drive up here this morning. Or you can standing out for four hours in some
freezing weather. I don't think so. I wish the Bengals were playing, but all this weekend would be brutal. If we won the division hosted a home playoff game, but I love it, it'd be awesome. So, I mean, just think about how Miami must feel coming into that pit. There's a reason these players signed to play for Miami, you know, the sunny beach southern Florida. Man. So we got Miami Kansas City. That's the late game tonight. What else is on this late this weekend for NFL?
The first game today is between the Browns and Texans, and the Rounds are on the road playing the AFC South champions. Good luck in a dome A lot warmer there in Houston this week. Since nat some people treat my email like it's a letters to the editor section of a newspaper. What's a newspaper
exactly? And that's okay. It's from my my friend Dennis Dennis Stewart, who wrote, gry Jeff, I am one hundred percent in favor of gender affirming care. The problem is what those on the left call affirming care is actually a gender destroying procedure. Gender affirming care should be affirming. A biological male with gender dysphoria is treated to be a normal functioning biological male, or a biological female is treated to be a normal functioning female. That's real affirming
care, he says. They happen to agree, and since when is any psychological or mental disorder embraced and enabled by medical professionals It's an excellent question, Dennis. Are people with a gambling problem listening liam treated by embracing their issue and making it easier for them to gamble. When people seek therapy for any addiction or mental issues, do their therapist embrace their disorder and support it with medication that adds to the disorder rather than to try to reverse, control or
cure the disorder. Administering the medically opposite hormone to children that makes a problem worse rather than to fix it should be considered malpractice and child abuse. No medical professional should be permitted to engage in such damaging therapy in children. Gender dysphoria in children is a mental disorder and should be treated to reverse, cure,
or at least control it, rather than make it worse. If adults want to make that personal decision for themselves, well let them knock themselves out. It's time the governor of Ohio looked at the suicide rates of transgendered youth and how many have regrets from the ridicule bullying and realizing the huge mistake they've made. Signed Dennis happy to be out of Hamilton County. Well, I'm happy that you chimed in and well chosen words and thoughts for a thinking person.
You know, before we get to Dick, we have a phone call. Let's go to Joe here. You've got a Chiefs game comment. Joe, Hi, Gary, Jeff. Yes, I do. And this is a solid block prediction. I guarantee it'll happen tonight, all right, despite the minus thirty prediction. During the game, at some point, the camera will cross the field to show the crowd and there'll be some guy with his shirt off. Oh no, no, there's no doubt about that. Oh yeah, you can bang on. Somebody was telling me that they went to
everybody says they were at the Freezer Bowl. But I mean, this is legitimate. And he said that the people he knew, some of the people that came to that game and were watching with their shirts off. Yeah, one of them died of hypothermia, like within days of that happening. And there were four others who were there together. They were all together, all their shirts off. They all had complications from hypothermia that lasted months after that
game. So I don't advise it, but you're right, there will be somebody there with their shirt off. I just hope it's Taylors. I just hope it's Taylor Swift. Yes, sir, well, friend of mine told me that they're giving away tickets to fill the crowds. If she's just sang the national anthem, they wouldn't have that problem. Thank you very much, Joe. I appreciate that Dick is hanging on the line, and we'll talk to him in just a few I have diabetes. I'm at risk for new
macawco pneumonia. I yes, indeed, get time to rise and shine, pop them eyes open. You have yourself about a gallon of coffee, and let's head north to us see our friend, or at least talk to our friend Dick from Dayton and let me know. Call me if you're actually seeing Dick well he's on the radio, because there may be other issues we need to address with you. That being said, good morning, Dick, I'm
you know what what? There must be a bug going around. Last night I came home and I was out to that cold at our felt sick, and I was up a little bit this morning. But I've never got to sick like this. Mut be a bug or something with this weather, Dick, there has been a virile respiratory whatever. But it's a cold, it's a virus. It's been going around, and it is pervasive. It's it's all over the place. Yeah, you mind it. I never get it in my stomach though, it's always in my nose or throat. Oh are
you feeling bad and you're tummy? You got some nausea? Yeah? Not too bad? Though, not too bad. I fucked a little bit. But it's just a minor thing, you know. Oti Okay, you're not I mean, you're not getting ready to toss cookies or anything, right?
No? No, no, okay, Well we can't have that. But you know what, while while we're let's talk about something that's maybe a little bit more fun, like NFL Super wild Card weekend, because I know, you know, even though the Bengals are out, you still have Dick pics to make. What about your brownies? How do they fare today? Yeah? Twenty three twenty brownies over Houston? Yep? Okay, any any other predictions? Kansas City is hosting the Miami Dolphins and the sub freezing win'll win,
Kansas City will win? Okay, yep? Well, I mean what about uh what about Dallas? Does Dallas win win? Dallas wins their game went about Detroit Lions playing the Rams. De w. Okay, you sound pretty confident. Actually you don't. You don't sound confident at all. Well, we'll hold you to twenty three to twenty Cleveland over Houston. Okay, is that what you said? Yep? All right, So I don't guess you're you're gonna get out in this mess and go play. Nune then mostly

The windows are rattling, the speakers are being pushed to their very limits. The wolfers are wolfing, the tweeters are tweeting, and we're turning up the radio one time for old radio rigs. He probably played bass on this in some terrible little club in Indiana. One of what some
people asked him for his autograph. Maybe not seven hundred WLW Gary Jeff Walker kicking it out on a Saturday morning, and here is the aforementioned old radio Rick Washburn on the line with a reception report. How you doing, man? Yes, there was never an autograph opportunity, But the three times I was in a store and got recognized was a little weird. And as I've told the story before, I had one groupie and we just celebrated our twenty
eighth anniversary. Congratulations. You know what. Here's the thing about about wedding anniversaries. When was your anniversary with the Marie? What was the day? Oh? Actually it was in March, March thirteenth. Oh, it's so it's coming up. Yeah, oh, told me the twenty ninth Yip. All right, so my parents seventy percent of the time, I tell the truth one hundred percent of the time. That's all I'm saying occasionally on occasion. So this past Wednesday, No, Thursday, kind of figure this out.
Yeah, Thursday was my parent's sixty sixth wedding anniversary. Mom, Mom and Dad got married January eleventh, nineteen fifty eight. And you know, you, you really really struggle to find a way to let them know that you acknowledge their incredible journey together and they're the reason I'm here obviously, and
my three brothers. But you run out of ways to just say, hey, I really love you, I appreciated, and I want to recognize this monumentous occasion, and so flowers have gone by the wayside and anything else. I mean, my dad's eighty seven, my mom's eighty six. So Thursday morning, as I called to wish Mom and Dad happy anniversary, she told me that they were. She just kind of mentioned they were going to lunch
at a restaurant down in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where they live. So, uh, I kind of had an idea of what time they'd be going, and I called the restaurant and what they did manage to find them when they were there, they were probably the only octogenarians in the place for lunch at the time, so it made a little bit easier. But so I paid for their lunch and they didn't know I was going to do that. So
that was that was the one. But yeah, anybody who's been with anybody else the length of time that you and Marie have been together U or the length of time certainly that my mom and dad they deserve recognition, They deserve all the kudos that they can get just for sticking with each other. That's it's not an easy thing. I mean, it's it's another it's another job.
Really. The secret was disclosed by Tim Allen, who once said, that's why every morning I wake up, I roll over, I look at my wife and I said, what device have you got fired up there in the Pineapple Palace? Well, you're coming in five by five loud and clear on a nineteen seventy three. Yeah, a little newer than I'm used to.
Yeah, this is a Zenith Transoceanic D seven thousand and y. For those of you playing at home, this is an eighteen transistor and even though it's a portable, it still makes the category of luggable because this was the transistor replacement of those big, heavy, ninety nine volt battery flip top tube radios that we love so much. This is the transistor version, but the
top still lifts up. There's a drawer that flips down and pulls out with the log, and there's a compass there, and there's a map up on top. It's a ten band AFM long wave short wave receiver and it still weighs twenty five pounds even without the nine D batteries in it. I think that I actually had one of those in my possession that my uncle had given me. My uncle was a Ham operator and he had this wonderful Zenith trans Oceanic. I don't know if it was quite as new as the one you're
talking about it, but it was on the order of that. And you're right, that thing was was hell to lug around. Yeah, you wanted to put it in one spot and then not have to move it very much. But yeah, I love the pullout panel and the map and the whole
thing is such a cool radio. And the greatest thing about this particular model is they got smarter because the earlier models, the handle on top was also the antenna, and unfortunately the little clip that holds the antenna into the handle position would warp over the years, and if you grab that antenna these days on one of those models, you end up with the holding a piece of plastic in your hand and had a radio crash on the ground and probably on
your toes, which is not pleasant. No, but this one does have a separate handle, so they figured that out. Very good. Yeah, the quality goes in before something goes on. The Zenith Transoci act I remember those, and like I said, I had one and it was in a green cabinet of all things. Oh oh wow, and it's it's been possibly a military surplus item, or it could have been a very rare item. Yeah, it could have been. I'm not sure. I don't know what
happened to it either. I would love to find that radio again though. And the short wave when the long wave worked fantastically, Yeah, it was really such great sets, really a cool box. All right, man, Well, listen, have a wonderful weekend and we'll wish you happy anniversary when we get there. Okay, that's right. Hey. Oh, by the way, Gary, Jeff, you know this morning it was so cold, I saw a socialist with his hands in his own pockets. I'd love it.

Shovelers can shovel snow throughout the night in the Sunday morning. The rate of pay is twenty dollars per hour. There's complimentary food and they'll have warm areas well. That's it. You know, that's kind of like a tradition in Buffalo when the weather gets bad, they you know,
they just pitch in. The Bills, fans pitch in, and they get things done. I remember a couple of years ago they came back from an away game and all the players cars were shoveled in, like snowed in, and the fans came out and shoving them out. Oh yeah, Buffalo fans and there's nothing. I mean, we love our Bengals who day fans, but Buffalo fans are strong. What are the other games? Green Bay travels to Dallas face NFC East winning Cowboys. That game is at four thirty

in a way, even though we really didn't accomplish anything. It's awesome narrative. I love that. And Monday Night Buccaneers host of Philadelphia Eagles, Kager Mayfield Jalen Hurts matchup. Dayton won against Dukeine. I guess they're tenth in a row last night, and today Xavier plays on the road at Providence playing the Friars. I've been at war with my prostate now for about ten years. But there are questions about his going a wall, which is very disappointing at a West Point graduate and an Army general, isn't it. Why don't any Oh, here's one not to know he's not in charge anyway? Quite another that we am the electorate
just might want to know. By the way, it makes me wonder should we be asking is Lloyd out of the loop? Is that why his second in command at the Pentagon just stayed at her Caribbean vacation spot throughout this whole thing? Is she out of the loop too? Lloyd has an interesting employment history. He was illegally nominated for sect deaf in January of twenty twenty one,
about four and a half years after he left the military. The law says it's got to be seven years so Congress voted a waiver and that made it okay. How easy it is at Washington, d c. To skirt the law. My goodness, who knew from the United States by name, not just the position. They also must memorize their general orders, which sect deaf Austin also violated. What is it what generals doing stuff? That would

He resigned, but a lot of us thought, how freaking stupid can you be? And Patreus has a PhD from Princeton. And then there's our commander in chief, Martin Luther Biden. I call him that because he told his black homies in South Carolina this week he started the Civil Rights movement? Who
knew then? MLB after three months of dilly dallying, ordered navy strikes on the hooty terrorists better late than never. And yes he can't do that by virtue of the War Powers Act of nineteen seventy three. But he has to notify Congress? Did he? He issued a press release? Is that enough?
Now he's got sixty days to do whatever the hell he wants. Then Congress can stop it or declare war, which of course we haven't done since nineteen forty one, when I and my other journalist friends observed the debate over the War Powers Action the seventies, and of course I'm a veteran, so I paid attention. We were told by the experts the president of the United
States cannot declare war, but he can make it inevitable. Well, I'm just enjoying this, this warming that we've been told is happening globally one point one point five one point five centigrade increase, Yeah, over over
what period of time? The year twenty one hundred. So recently, the infamous doctor Fauci was reported saying that the six foot separation mandate, you know, we're told from CDC and all the other government folks during COVID, it just kind of to quote showed up. There was no scientific basis. Admitted that, Yeah, so got me to thinking. One other beast government goal
number just storeda showed up and got me to thinking. Back in twenty sixteen, at the Paris Accords, nations agreed to a goal of one point five centigrade warming, which is two point seven fahrenheit for those and beat us above pre Industrial period, which most people think surround around eighteen eighteen hundreds, eighteen eighty eighteen ninety something like that. Now, one would think that a massive study costing tens of millions or maybe even hundreds of millions of dollars would have
been used to determine this number. But based upon the articles I've read since twenty sixteen, and more importantly the two Heartland Institute conferences on climate change, I attended that the one point five degree goal just sort of showed up. Apparently the UN bureaucrats asked non governmental organizations that's called NGOs and scientists their opinion.
At first, the consensus kind of formed around two point zero, but for some reason that got shelved and then they agreed alf one point five degrees celsius or two point seven degrees fahrenheit. That's that's the goal, and everybody signed off on it. So, you know, again not really based on science. It's just kind of a gut feeling, and we once gown this consensus science, and which, as I've said on this program, consensus science
is nothing more than mob rule. There's no consensus in science. Sciences. Science is the anti tithesis, is the antithesis of consensus. Science is always changing. People are always learning facts that they did not know. Hereto four the sciences all was being adjusted and corrected to conform to the actual data and reality. Yes, I got we have times for another Yeah yeah, yeah,

North American Electric Reliability Corporation and it's year reliability assessment warns that rising peak demand and the planned retirement of eighty three gigawatts of fossil fuel and nuclear generation over the next ten years creates blackout risks for most of the United States, both the northeast and western half of the US pace and elevated risk of blackouts in extreme conditions, and parts of the Midwest, which includes the tri State and
Central South areas, could see power supply shortfalls even during normal peak conditions. It said in the report that the power grid is increasingly becoming unreliable and it's not clear how the trend will be reversed. And report it said quote in recent years, we've witnessed a declined in re reliability and the future rejection does not offer a clear path to securing the reliable electric supply as essential for the

What the article didn't say is the number one reason why it's unreliable is the intermittent expensive solar and win huhm, well in the uh you know to wait ten years, Steve. In New England, parts of parts of New England this winter, this month, people are paying in a moderate size house at least one thousand dollars or more just to heat their home per month. Think about that.
Think about paying twelve thousand dollars a year just to heat your home or to power your home. And that's what people in parts of New England. And I'm sure it's not going to be a whole lot better here in our part of the country either. I'm I'm looking forward to the little cottage where me and my wife live. I'm looking forward to at least a three hundred

Number one? And number two? Is it the same as going into a cold plunge if you go outside with your shirt off right now? It's not exactly the same, but it's pretty damn cold out, so you would
get a benefit if you went outside. Because last year I think I sent you a video of me doing snow angels in basically my underwear and so yeah, yeah, you know what, And that's that's an image I'll never That's an image I'll never get out of my head. Thank you, Thank you again so much for that, Rocco. I appreciate that. I know, I know I wanted you to remember me in my underwear making sell angels for for the rest of your life. But today we have something different that I
wanted to talk to you out. It's about poop and it's about your gut health. And I really want people out there to understand that if you have issues with your gut, you will have issues with with just about everything else. So there's a company out there that I am not related to whatsoever,
but I use them all the time for me and my clients. It's a it's a company called a Tiny Health and uh and you just google them and you can go and you can get a in the mail of a poop tests that will give you your children, uh even even babies, a test to see if you have parasites in your gut if you have no ko is. This is this different than Colon Guard, Oh, oh, very different because color Guard is is more about cancer, about colon cancer and a really test
for colon cancer. This this test is more about your gut health in general, so and and more about parasites and about and about a bad bacteria about yeast that's in or or or what's called a candida. So so we want to, uh, we want to test for that so that we can because most people don't know have diarrhea one day and they're like, oh, well, I just have diarrhea. I might be I have a stomach issue or or you're constipated. Now you can even have diarrhea when you're constipated. It's
a very very strange thing. But I would like the watery substances just comes through kind of the cracks in the constipation and your pain in your gut, but you don't know why. So it's a really good idea every every few months, maybe every six months to just do yeah, to get a test and then and then you can take steps to fix your gut, like using a vitamin C powder or using Most people take a probiotic and they don't do it correctly, and you always need to take a prebiotic with your all biotics.
But you may need help with digestive enzymes like amalase, catalyse protea. Is it true, Rocke, Is it true that all of us carry some sort of parasite insels? We carry a bad bacteria, but not necessarily a parasite. If you have a parasite in your gut, you have some going on that allows that parasite to strive. Yeah, okay, Rocco, thank you very much. It's good information. And what's the name of the product again, It's called a tiny Health and I believe the website's tinyhealth dot com.
But tiny health gut tests. That's all you have to Google. Fine, Thank you so much, sir, and we'll talk to you soon. All right, Thanks, Gary Jeff, you got it trained with Rocco dot com. Gary Jeff. This week, for the last time, don't eat the tide pods. But first another week, another person eats the cushion from a car seat. Police in North Carolina had a woman in custody handcuffed in the back seat of a cruiser. Her hands were occupied, but her mouth wasn't, so she started chewing on the back seat and was able to chew through
the entire thing, causing six hundred and fifty dollars in damage. The police department took pictures of it put it on their Facebook page, saying they might have to invest in kevlar seat covers. This is literally in his career and he paid her twelve dollars and fifty cents per Demno, that's like I maybe on Hunred twenty five dollars today. And this is the song that he wrote. Burt Brecac. How David wrote this song Burke first with music held David with the lyrics about a woman who's asking her former to leave me alone. Now the record comes out and the A
side is the flip side, any old time of the Day. That's the A side, Murray the King, Oh Friend, the dish jockey in New York, break strong disc jockey, upset the record company. He flipped it over and tag the B side and the B side was walked on By and it became the big hit that Burne the King had a good ear and brought back record. You listen to the song. This is the first time that he tried putting two grand pianos on a record in the studio and it worked.
Just an incredible record A million cellar in nineteen sixty four. D On Warwick Christ the ears walk on by. Don't stop if you see me walking down the street, hand I start you crowd each time we meet, walk on walk on maybe and you don't see the tears. Just let me grieve in fine. It cost me. Time I see you, I'll break down and cry. Walk on bye, stop, walk on bye stop, walk
on bye. I'm just thinking it over losing you. And so if I've seen locating dude, walk on by, walcome by the foolish road, that's all there I have left. So let me right the tears and the sadness you gave me when you said goodbye. Welcome who who walko by? Whoko by? To do this brid That's all so let me It's a session of rock and roll archaeology on a Saturday morning with Jim Lebarbara the Music professor me Gary Jeff on seven hundred w l W playing my wife's five favorite songs from
the sixties. And by the way, this is something we may entertain again. If you have some request for the music professor's backstories on some of your favorite songs, you can always get in touch Gary Jeff Walker at seven under WLW dot com. I've known that this was Chris's favorite motown song for a long time. This next one, Jim tell me about the Four Tops.
Well, listen to the songwriting production team of Holland, Doser and Donner where absolutely at the top of their game and they did this Holland, Doser and harmand a song. If you're listening to the song, take that a lot of disjogies when they first played it. But the false ending that might be the key to the song. The false ending where the instruments drop out, the background singers hold ac chord and then Levi Stubbs the Four Tops great lead
singer. Levi then shots Bernadette and then the song picks up ending a little fade out. And it was very interesting to hear this because it's all of these emotional burn Adette the key ingredient thing getting it's just to buy the record at times for a lot of folks them can pat song. Levi stubbs that he's urging. This girl was sick. Stick with me, maybe ignore the dances of the other guys. So was there really a Bernadette? Well yet
and then apparently there was more than one. Lamart Zosia was a lyricist, and he explained there were three different Bernadettes and they were all girls that they knew. We sort of kept that to ourselves there. We all had our own Bernadette. We always said we'd never bring a girlfriend's name into the song, and they never did. Well, they had this this hidden thing when that name came up, so nobody said anything when they were writing the song.
So then afterwards they were talking about in these two of us, he said, we're thinking about the Bernadette that we knew. And in Lamar Josier's case, Bernadette was this beautiful little girl. He had a medic strong love thing for this girl when he was all of twelve years of age, a beautiful Italian girl with eyes for somebody else. So this is a tough song for Lee by the thing. He had a strain on this song and that's when he was in his best Odette. You know what. You can hear
the strain in his voice and it just makes the tune. Jim. Let's let's listen to the Four Tops and burn a dad, burn a day he want set and we don't say, ask him some home, searching the home and find up. And when I speak to you, I see me and other man's home. So I'm well away. What's on that night? They pretend be my friend? With all the time they long to persuade you from my side, they filed the world and on the home. Use one moment we burn the god they want you because hide that is burn a day.
I won't he be cold? You only found the man they know. I'm telling Yeah, what happen? They can tell you by that? When they can, I can told yourself by add from what dan you leave you? What do you mean? Tell you? I'm telling you telling you you're b me died alerting you mean somewhere to tell? That's at least you hone. Italiana is to the soul. What you do? Yeah, that's kicking the
Four Tops Bernadette on Rock and Roll archaeology. Up next on the list, a group of guys that just kind of were hanging out together and decided to be a band, right Jim, Yeah. Terry Kirkman the leader, the lead singer Cherish Ry Kirkman and the association from West Coast down. He wrote this song in about a half an hour and put it into his live back with the group. They started singing this around and he was trying to do he went this actually slower than the record. He wind up more like the
righteous brothers who've lost that love and feeling. That's what the aim of this was. And they recorded it and converted the garage studio owned by Gary Paxton, engineered the sessions and song is noted. They has the chimes, listened to the chimes as we played the record there and and it's played by guys in the group in the little background. And they did have to edit the
song. It was too long, so they edited this and they wanted to get as close to three minutes as they can, and they didn't go over the three minutes. But because of them in that era, this docus went and played it for more than three minutes. A lot of programmers wasn't anyway, so they may they put three minutes on it, but it's actually wanted in three minutes, and the song is about a girl that he knows he can't possibly have, and everybody's chasing after this girls, and it comes off
a little desperate and obsessive if you listen to it. But this is played to a lot of weddings. It's a lot of love songs at the end. The Music to Licensing Organization BMI ranked this song Cherish at number twenty two on the list of the most played songs on television and radio the twentieth century in America. Now another song they did it is played a lot of weddings too, is Never My Love, and that came out number two. Interesting
thing. Gerry Jeff Brookwuick, a member of the group Jimmy Jimmy Yester, said that recordly but didn't want to play this, you know, release this saved too old and archaic, Too old and archaic, And then he said the song's success just showed that we can have archaic and either too. The association and cherish is the word, cherish all the feeling that I have iving here for you. So I tell you how many times I wish that I
can tell you. I don't know how many times I wish that I could hold you, And don't know how many times I wish then I can hold you into someone who could cherish me as my chas cherish perish to word that more than a doll in my burnish time, I feel that I am not gonna be the one to share your dreams, that I am not gonna be
the one to share your steeds. But I am not gonna be the one to share This seems that being the life that you could shaerish as much chance to the life we be me to say that man has never found the words that could make you want me. Then have the right a thountain letters chaust over my sound. I could make you here, make you see that you
are driving me, have on my mind. Oh, I can say I need you, But then you threeal lie that I'll want you, just like a thousand other guys would say they like you with all the rest of their lives. Men all they wanted must to except you as your hands and gaze into your arm. And then the key change. You gotta have the key changement. Yes it's Christ The two point OHO's list of her favorite songs of the sixties with Jim Lebarbara the music professor and the backstory's behind all this wonderful
music. And last on our list is uh Man, what a classic song this is? Jim Yeah, this is a great one. And there it was nineteen years old. He wrote the song It's machete I'm more now. He wrote this song when he was in the in the school. The song oasonally was titled oh My Marcia and it was written in one hour in nineteen sixty six about a girlfriend that Stevie Wonderhand at the Michigan School for the Blind
and Lancey Michigan. So he has this song this a little box of tunes that he had and Barry Gordy listens to it when he's at Motown and Barry brings in he said, I think we can do something with this, improve the song, and they brought in a couple of songwriters and Stylvia moy I came up at the intriguing title accommodation in English and plainship in a manner just reminiscent of what the Beatles did with you know, with Michelle. It was
a massive. So they record the song. In fact, you the B side of the single, I don't know why and this shock has again flipped it over. And by the time he recorded the song, marsha Is, his little girlfriend in school, was out of the picture. So Stevie Wonder changed their title to My Charity and Moore and the title is Christ. It's French for my dearest love. And Stevie was all of nineteen years old when
this thing came out. It became his third number one hit. Thank you Steve, Thank you Jim, Thank you Christ to two point zero, Thank you Brooksy. Yeah, quite surprising, Eve most Michael, good morning, how are you? Good morning? So you've broughtos you? What's the pictures of him Rocko sending you pictures of snow
angels or something? Yeah, he was. This was last winter, and he was demonstrating how good it was for you to go outside, almost naked and do snow angels, equating what is also a known training and a wellness hack called the cold plunge. Instead of diving in the cold water, you just go outside and make snow angels in the snow, in the cold, in your underwear. I'm gonna send you a video clip. I'm going some sacred ice swimming in the hot tub. But the bubbles covered up a lot,
so you don't care of me? Same, No, I don't care at all, Okay, Garry, Jeff, we got this was just published actually yesterday January eleventh, at started meeting of American Astronomical Society. They held in New Orleans, and what they found it was a huge They call it the Big Ring. The Big Ring. The Big Ring is out and way out in space. It's nine billion light years away from US. Okay, and this big ring, which is surprising all these astronomers because of the size
what it is. It's a gigantic spiral of galaxies and galaxy clusters, and it's one point three billion light years wide, and it has a circumference of four billion light years. And to put that in perspective, since it's actually tilted towards US, you can't really see it. But if you were able to see it, it'll be fifteen times larger than the Moon and it's nine
billion light years away. And then the thing it's amazing everybody the astronomers is things that it's actually started half of when the universe is half the age it is now, the things that back then aren't supposed to be the large. So because of the law gravity, it's all's supposed to be like one billion
light years in diameter. But this thing is just eclipsing everything, and they think it's going to just change the whole cosmological theory of the the Big Bang and all the other nuances that they've helped over time to get to the current theories of universe expansion. So right, you know this this kind of goes
hand in hand with what I was talking about with Steve Shulty before. Science is never consensus because we're always learning more and the things we thought we knew yesterday are completely obliterated by new information and new data that we get today. And this is another example of this. Well, I you know, corollary to that is, let's not jump off the deep end off something we think we know today because it might change tomorrow exactly. And masks and six feet
of separation don't work and weren't scientific. Yeah, all right, Michael, thank you very much, have a good weekend, Stay warm. NFC North winning Lions? Have you ever said that before? As anybody said that before? No, their memory hosting a playoff game for the first time since nineteen ninety three Los Angeles Rams, and they have the dynamic of Matthew Stafford against Jared Golf. It's kind
of like a we switched teams kind of thing at the quarterback position. It's neat. I think those benefit both teams. One team won a Super Bowl and the Lions are doing the best they've done. Yeah, in decades. Dan Campbell and one heck of a job there in Detroit. And on Monday night, what do you got Philadelphia on the road to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yeah, I don't know. Tampa Bay scored nine points in their last game, and that offense just doesn't look at all like a team that
should be hosting a playoff game. Today, we've got Xavier on the road against Providence. Yeah, coverage begins at one thirty. After the war, bud Anderson became a well regarded fighter test pilot, fighter squadron and wing commander. Served as wing commander tour in combat in the Vietnam War. Clarence bud Anderson, Happy Birthday. That's just it's an incredible story. And to still have a treasure, like a living treasure like that in our midst that's all you could ask for. A couple other things.
I found out that my producer Liam Anderson, William Liam Tomlinson, not Liam Anderson, that was, butd Anders Liam Tomlinson is a horse whisperer or an animal whisperer, and that ability was put to the testing him this week, Liam, what exactly did you do you? Yeah, so yesterday I was just chilling out of my house, you know, and my dad comes in. He's like, you're doing anything today. And that's when I should have said yes, but I didn't. So he's like, I need you
to I got to work. I need you to go up and help out. There's a plastic jump cavaletti stuck on the horse's foot. Now this is not your horse. This is someone that was being boarded at your facility there. Yeah, okay, so in the arena there's like jumping stuff for yeah, and so they should put the horse in the arena for the day. And the odds of this happening are insane. I don't know why they made them with holes in them, Like we looked up the new ones, so
they don't. I think this must happen to someone somewhere because they don't make them with the holes anymore. But we could not get this thing off. No, no, exactly. For people who don't have e coin experience, what is a cavaletti or whatever? You put like the pole in to the horse and then and then it's like a jump you jump over it. But the horse stepped and got the the thing caught in his hook. Yes, surrounded it and we used as much vastly as possible, and it just wouldn't
slide off. So what what was your duty during all of this? Well, so I go up there. It was the one lady up there. Yeah, she we were trying to get it off, and the horse just wouldn't stay still obviously you know it's uncomfortable. It was, and so she leaves to go get like sedation. We had to put it under for a little bit to calm it down. So I'm holding the horse out like, and it was beautiful weather day yesterday. So I'm in the I'm outside holding
the horse and the we got it installed. But I was holding the horse for about an hour while she's gone by his head. Yeah, she comes in once it's sedated. I'm holding this horse head and wow, I didn't I never I guess all the weights in the front like towards the head. Yeah, while it's sedated, And I'm it was a team effort for you. Sure you were struggling. I was struggling. I was. I had to squat down, come back up the whole time. You know, congratulations,
we got it off. Your ability to be the horse whisper. I had literally whispered to the horse the whole time to keep it. You know else who else likes to whisper at times as President Biden. I mean they just got nipped at the last second by Texas at home this past week, and one week ago they went out to Utah to Provo to play BYU and beat a highly favored team. It was ranked twelve the time in the latest Top twenty five poll. And they're on the road again in Texas to play the Baylor Bears, who were ranked fourteenth. I mean, have you has
their play in the Big twelve surprised you thus far? It's encouraged me. Yeah, I mean I think the the outcome in Provo surprised me. I think they have. And you know, folks are going to maybe take this the wrong way. I think they have in their first big first two Big twelve games, they have looked like a middle of the pack Big twelve team. A middle of the pack Big twelve team makes the NCAA tournament. This
league is incredibly good. Now. You know, the result on Tuesday night was heartbreaking because you know, they're up three with about fifty five seconds to go. They missed the front end of a one and one. They had no answer for Dylan Desoue, who came in and scored thirty three points. The Bearcats turn it over fifteen times, and many of them were unforced, but they looked the part. They stood toe to toe with it with a Texas team that is also probably going to make the NCAA tournament, and so
the result was frustrating. But I think if you look at how they've played over eighty minutes in two Big twelve games, they look like a team that can win games in this conference. Unfortunately, the Big Twelve schedule is so front loaded for them that you get Baylor tonight, you get a very good Texas TCU team come into town that nearly beat Kansas on the road on Tuesday, Oklahoma comes here, and then they go to Kansas, and so they're
staring at a very, very difficult gauntlet to start Big Twelve play. But I think how they've played in this conference has been very encouraging. They have to clean up the turnovers, and I think tonight against Baylor, the two keys are. First of all, Baylor has the highest collective three point shooting percentage in the country. Now, they don't take a ton of them.
They're not like BYU, which you know, jack forty three three point shots on Saturday night, but when they shoot them, they go in number one in the country. The other thing Baylor is really good at is getting to the free throw. They played BYU on Tuesday, they shot twenty eight free throws. They averaged nearly twenty three free throw attempts a game. Forty of their points Baylors against BYU team either at the free throw line or off of
BYU turnovers. So the Bearcats are going to have to be better with the basketball seventeen turnovers per in the first two Big twelve games, and they're gonna have to keep Baylor off the free throw line. And when Cincinnati has had a hard time defending this year. You saw this in the Dayton game. They fouled a lot. Can't foul a lot tonight? Well, speaking of Dayton, you're alma mater. They're up in a halib a wind stream at ten in a row with the victory over Ducane last night. Did you see
anything on that game or know anything about what's happening with the Flyers. Watched the whole thing last night. Goodwin on the road against Ducane. The Flyers look like the class of the Atlantic ten. They have beaten LSU and SEC school Saint John's a Big E school, and Cincinnati a Big twelve school, so they've played high major competition and they've got a high major player in Deron
Holmes. You know, Dayton in twenty nineteen, twenty twenty would have been a one seat in the NCAA Tournament with Obie Toppen, who was a lottery pick. This Dayton team isn't that good, and Doron Holmes is probably not a lottery pick, but he's an NBA player. Last night, thirty three and ten Bearcats fans saw what he could do up close. He is one of the best big men in the country. They are Dayton, very very good, another team that's excellent at shooting the three, and I think tested.
You know, the Atlantic Ten is not the Atlantic ten that used to have Xavier and Temple, et cetera. It's sort of the remnants of that and a collection of schools from other leagues, so top to bottom, it's not the most high profile conference, but I think Dayton's the class of the league. And a good road win against Ducane in Pittsburgh last night. What has been a fairly busy season compared to maybe last off season for the Reds. For sure, it's been a very busy season. The Red sign a
hometown boy, Muelller's Brent Suter. What do you know about him? Brent Shoter is good, does a good job getting out lefties, obviously from Mohler High School. Brent Suter. It came in in his big league debut in Cincinnati and he immediately picked Joe Evado off base and then came on my show the next day to talk about it. A good, good established bullpen arms spent years with the Brewers, can keep the ball on the ground, good
against lefties. You know, the Reds have made significant investments in their bullpen, and I think good investments in their bullpen. Now I have major questions about how good and healthy they're starting pitching is going to be. And they're starting pitching edition Frankie Montas pitched in one game last year, and so there's a lot of risk there. But I think their collective efforts in the bullpen have been good and they needed to upgrade the bullpen because I think you had
some guys who in that area. The team last year is sort of overachieved. They've gotten some established arms. Brent Suter is an established arms. California. There's a move in California to ban tackle football for young people, and all I can say is I think that really it should be a young person's choice. I mean, if they'll let a young person choose to, you know, mutilate their body, then then maybe they can play some football. But I was just I was thinking back to me being in like seventh grade
or eighth grade and trying out for the junior high football team. And it lasted about two weeks until I came home one day after practice. And this is August and Middle Tennessee, and you know, it's just blindingly hot and humid as hell. And I said, Mama, I think I'm going to forget football and play basketball. And said, well, why, son, I said, because it hurts. Mom. I think a kid knows what
their limits, they know certain things about physicality. And I mean, what do you think about the move by anybody to try and prevent kids from from playing tackle football? Is that a good thing or a California the California man is for kids under twelve, Okay, I am a proponent of banning tackle football for kids younger than that. I think twelve is a little bit too old. I think by then the kids are a little bit more coachable.
And you know, I didn't play football growing up. Now I have seen eight nine year old kids playing tackle football and nobody knows what they're doing. I've heard NFL players say, what are we doing here? Why are we playing tackle football? What should happen is the other skills involved in the sport should be emphasized. And then as the kids get older and I think are a little bit more capable of controlling the bodies, and I think twelve qualifies
as such, then you introduce the more physical parts of the sport. I think it's ridiculous to have seven year old kids playing tackle football. I think it's ridiculous to tell a twelve year old kid he or an eleven year old kid he can't play tackle football. I remember having my win completely knocked out of me and just in agony because I'd got it. This is about. This is at about twelve years old, Civitan League football. I just remember the coach, you get up, boy, you just got your bell rang
happens to everybody, either get up or go back to the house. So anyway, that was my experience as a kid with with tackle football. So I mean, I don't mind it one way or the other. But let's talk about real tackle football. It's NFL Super wild Card weekend, and somebody called earlier Mo and said, I will bet you any amount of money that there will be somebody in the stands in Kansas City tonight in minus thirty wind
chill with their shirt off. I said, no question, And I said, I just I just hope it's not Taylor Swift, because you know, if it gets too cold, she could hurt somebody. That's that's incredible. I mean the fact and anybody is anybody at the game or to take their shirt off, I would hope it would be Taylors. Yeah, well,
right on second thought, you're absolutely correct. But anyway, I was talking to somebody who claims, and I think he's got some legitimacy, that he was at the Freezer Bowl in nineteen eighty two and was at that game and there were five people from Hyde Park guys that had their shirts off, and one of them, one of them supposedly succumb to hypothermia the next day.
And I just don't think it's a wise idea. But somebody is going to be with new shirt on in the stands in Kansas City tonight in that cold,
well, somebody is going to start tailgating, probably this morning. And spend all day in bibing and maybe not feel as as many inhibitions as they may normally, And they're going to show up tonight and keep drinking, and yes, the coat and the hoodie and the undershirt probably going to come off, and everybody's going to have a big old laughs and hopefully that person survives.
I was in Kansas City for the ASC Championship game last year. It was not as cold as I guess it's going to be tonight, but it's as cold as I've ever been in a sporting event. It was. It was arctic and at halftime, as I was walking down to go get some hot chocolate, I saw two gentlemen with their shirts off. So that is a guarantee you will see that tonight. I'm sure the Peacock cameras will show those guys who women I guess possibly, and the rest of us are just
going to shake their heads with them. Cleveland Browns at the Euston, Texas Who you Got? I Got? Houston? CJ. Stroud the two most high profile games of his career the College the College Football Playoff semi final last year. He was the best player on the field for Ohio State last week against the Colts in a was basically a playoff game, he was the best player on the field. Here's the thing about CJ. Stroud. He has a rookie. He led the NFL the year in fewest passes intercepted per attempt.
His first one hundred and ninety two pass attens in the NFL came without a pick. He does not make mistakes. Joe Flacco has been an awesome story. He should be the NFL's comeback Player of the Year. Yeah, but he's also thrown eight picks in five starts. He will make a mistake. I think the game comes down to that. I think CJ. Stroud is magnificent. The Texans are at home, and Cleveland's defense for as good as it's been, giving up five and a half yards per play on the
road over the course of an entire season. That would be second worst in the NFL. The Browns are awesome defensively at home, they're not at home. I like the Texans real quick take the game we mentioned Miami at Kansas City. Dolphins are just too beaten up Kansas City. This is not the powerhouse Kansas City offense were used to. But they're very good defensively, elect
the Chiefs at home. Stillers at the Bills. You know, I think this is the most difficult game to kind of put your thumb on because of Josh Allen's propensity for turning it over. Yep, the Bills volativity of volatility, but they are at home. Pittsburgh's offense was better at the end of the year with Mason Rudolph, but still very uneven and not having TJ. Watt as a problem. I leaned Buffalo, but I don't think there's a team in the playoffs with a wider range of unsurprising results. It would be
unsurprising if they won the Super Bowl. It would be unsurprising if they lost tomorrow. The very green Green Bay Packers on the road against a Cowboys team that doesn't seem to lose at home this year been awesome at home. I think from a gambling perspective, seven and a half points is too many. Jordan Love is good, a Green Bay offensive line is horific. That Green
Bay offense is good. I think you have to take the Cowboys doing the game in their own building because of how good they've been there, but their defense was underwhelming towards the end. Of the season. I think the Packers keep it close. I think the Cowboys win. The quarterback swappers. The Rams at the Lions, Yeah, interesting game. You know, the Rams in the second half of the season were elite offensively, number two in an
advanced metric called DVA on offense. Detroit's a great story, a lot of fun for the fans. They're getting a home game, but defensively they're not great. And Sean McVay I think has a coaching edge over Dan Campbell because I think he can basically do to Jared Goff with John Gruden did to Rich Gannon in the Super Bowl twenty two years ago. He coached them, coached them, developed them, knows every idiosyncrasy. I think that's an advantage for
the Rams. On the road Eagles at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He got one quarterback with Bruce Riggs. He got another one with a bum finger. I think the difference in this game is going to be a Phillies defense can wake up. It was so bad in the second half of the season. The Eagles. You know, at one point this team looked like they were going to win fourteen games. They're on the road. Who do you trust more. I think I trust Jalen Hurts more. But boy, toward the
end of the season, he hasn't been very good. This is I think the second most difficult game to sort of pinpoint this weekend. But I like the Eagles slightly. All Right, MO, have a great rest of the weekend. Try and stay warm. It's going to be a struggle for all of us. And we'll have no question. We'll talk to you next weekend.
