This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Okay, so there's a lot going on. We're going to follow along if there are any updates about this cybersecurity firm crowd Strike. This widespread IT outage around the world, and I mean effected all kinds of industries. Probably airports and airlines are the

one that a lot of people are getting that. It's getting a lot of coverage because of the thousands of flights that have had to be counseled or delayed. Some banks were knocked offline for a while. Even media outlets had to stop broadcasting because of this massive disruption. Again crowd Strike. The security firm said the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or

a cyber attack. Apparently it was an update that went wrong. So we'll see if there are any specific updates to that as we get through the rest of the show. Well, we are on Biden Watch. Thirty Congress Democrats have called on President Biden to exit the race. He has put out a statement this morning. If somebody has put out a statement on his behalf this morning is probably how I should say it. Said he would be back campaigning

next week. Here's the quote. I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump's Project twenty twenty five agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America, one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms, and create opportunity for everyone. He is still self isolating after a COVID being diagnosed with it with the COVID, but there are so many reports

varying, and I don't know who's putting these out. I don't know how the machine works. But there was a report yesterday that he's already decided to get out of the race and that they're just trying to cross Te's and dot ies the Democrats on what that open cann would look like. NBC News how To report that members of Joe Biden's family have discussed what an exit may look

like, according to two people they say familiar with the discussions. Yeah, and I think that's probably I mean, you mentioned the thirty members of Congress now that have come out publicly. I'm sure there are probably others that are privately saying that, and the family thing has been sort of the sticking point. We had the highest profile Democrats outside of Biden come out and say we got to find something else. Now the family is the innermost circle around him.

Apparently that may be changing their tone. The overall tone they say of the conversations has been that any exit plan should put the party in the best position to beat Donald Trump well while also being worthy of the more than five decades he has served the country in elected office. And I wish they'd listen to the show because I think you have the perfect ending to this story yesterday when you said that what would be the nice scenario is that he comes out

and says, my family, my grandkids have come to me. They want to spend time with me. I want to have whatever time left I have on this mortal coil and devote it to my family after five decades devoting service to the country. I think that's the best way out of it. But are you talking about he steps down from the presidency. He's not going to step down from the presidency, but he would I think he would step down

from the campaign trail. So there are questions about what would happen. And we saw those questions arise immediately after the debate because it became evident to everybody that people were literally lying to our faces about the condition that he was in. The question is what do you do? The only way to replace him at the top of the ticket at this stage is if he steps down himself. You can't vote him out because of the primaries and the votes that he

got for that. If he dies, or if he suffers some sort of a disability. That word is specifically in the Democratic National Committee rules about this and what does that mean? I mean, it's kind of subjective, isn't it disability? And they probably never really defined it simply because they never thought they would have to use it. So he won almost every single one of

the four thousand plus delegates in the Democratic Party. They're selected in large part because of their loyalty, their support for chosen candidate, and then those delegates vote for their nominee in what would be this virtual role call that we've told you about that's supposed to take place early next month. There's two different scenarios

about what would happen. One scenario is before the nomination, so before the convention because that's when he's officially nominated or after he's officially nominated, two different sets of events that would be put into motion depending on the time to time there. So we'll get into that when we come back by Gary and Shannon regarding who could beat Trump. Do yourselves and all of us a favor and pick up with a copy of the Constitution, because in the Constitution it says

it goes to Kamala Harris. Okay, so you may as well you can bring up anybody you want, right, it may as well be a unicorn, because it's going to be. It has to be Kamala Harris. Okay, thank you. No, it doesn't. Okay, there's nowhere in the Constitution of the United States of America that explains what the Democratic Party does for a candidate that they don't or that they need to replace. That's not a constitutional issue. The parties come up with their own rules for this sort of

thing. That's why, for example, there's a different number of delegates. There's only two thousand some odd delegates in the Republican Party. There's four thousand plus in the Democratic par ps. Remember to follow the money, Remember how the donor froze that ninety million dollars that was pledged to Biden in the Democrats, they froze that. Now the rules do say that the money would go to Kamala Harris if he dropped out, but they have not unfrozen it.

Also, that money is in limbo Democratic Party rules, not constitution, right. But I like that you worked a unicorn into the show. That's always a fun, happy putting a positive spin on that. That's what I do. That's what I do. I am a fun bunny. Michael sent us a message, Geez, you guys might have to start screening the talkback because that moron referencing the constitution. Michael, you think we don't screen the talkback? Do you know what you would hear if we didn't scream the talkback?

Oh my goodness, these are the ones that we do choose to play. Hey, Gary and Channon, I get that you guys think the speech was redundant and it's nothing new, But maybe we need to go back to what we had because the last three years with mister potato head has not worked out very well for any of us. So I say stop over analyzing and being critical of Trump and realize he's the best man for the job. That's that's the choice we have. I know, I get it. Listen and you

can have political arguments. That's what we do in America perfectly fine. We we also kind of rip everybody. I mean, no one's really safe. Yeah, yeah, you know, I would hope, And I don't know if it's is that the better version or should we be should we be nice to everyone? I don't think that it is human to be nice to everybody and to find no fault in political speeches. I said to my daughter yesterday, do not get pregnant. No, that's I feel like I've said that

before, but this was a new one. I said, do not love politics right as a command. Don't see them as rock star. Yeah, you know. It's like you can say the same for football players. Do you don't see these people as your heroes? You don't know who these people are. Yes, they're good at what they do, all right? Or you know, politicians are very skilled to get to the level where we hear their speeches. They're very skilled at what they do. But don't make them

your Jesus. Don't make them your rock star. Yeah, because you're gonna be disappointed. They're human being. They're human. So we're talking about Okay, what is the possibility if Joe Biden drops out voluntarily, something medical happens, he suffers a disability, whatever it is. If he ends his campaign before this virtual role call comes in August, then the pledged delegates could cast their ballots for a new candidate. The more than thirty nine hundred pledged delegates

meet at the convention and cast their first ballot. Oh my gosh, this would be so much fun to watch unfold. You couldn't, I mean, and it's the way they used to do it. Sure, but it was also a time when the conventions weren't covered on TV, you know, wall to wall. I was talking to my husband about this this morning. You know what makes me excited about this is the idea that you could, as an American, as a voter, choose the candidate. How long has the

beence we've been able to choose the candidate. The machines that are in place RNC, the DNC, they have thrown candidates down our throats for our whole lifetimes. It would be nice to happen, And it's why I end up voting for the third party candidate so often because I want to be able to have a say and who it is, and that's just not the way the machines have worked. This is like you said, how it used to be

a democracy. If Biden again were to get out of the convention after the convention adjourned, get out of the run, I should say, the race after the convention adjourned, than the DNC chair currently, Jamie Harrison, would have to confer with top congressional Democrats and the Democratic Governors Association about replacing them again. All this is spelled out in the party rules for the Democrats,

not the American constitution. Harrison would then report to the committee, which is authorized to fill the vacancy again, that is if if he steps down after the convention. So the clear leader in the clubhouse right now in terms of who would take over for him, would be Kamala Harris. But there are and I saw floated yesterday the idea that Pete Bodhagich would be named as a potential running mate for her. If that's the case, Gretchen Whitmer and Gavin

Newsome have reportedly been ruled out as her running mate. Where did that come from? Where did that report? Come from. That's a good question. I'm not sure. Now this is where the fund could come in. We talked about the first ballot at the convey right, if he gets out this weekend. Okay, so you have the first ballot, and if one candidate gets the majority of the delegates, then they're the candidate. That's not going to happen. Like I said, everyone's going to be eating each other.

If no candidate wins the majority of the delegates on that first ballot, then the seven hundred plus super delegates are allowed to vote. The delegates now at this point numbering forty six hundred plus, continue to hold votes until one presidential candidate wins the majority of delegates, and the behind the scenes jockeying and the wharring and the knobslobbery would just be next level. It would be something I think, as I started the show by saying, we've never reached this level

of political disarray before, that would absolutely be the topper. Yes, that's the case. It was The Hill that reported Newsome and Whitmer told party leaders would not be interested in being a vice presidential running mate for Kamala Harris, for her, for her now, but there are other names. There are other potential Andy Basher is one of us. Your Kentucky's governor, the North Carolina governor Roy Cooper is one of them. And then Mark Kelly's name has

been thrown around. Also. Mark Kelly is the name that I read about this morning having the best chances to beat Trump, the Democrat that could beat Trump because Mark Kelly tends to be a more moderate Democrat. Yes, he comes from the state of Arizona, which is a battleground state. It's going to be an important state. He has military service obviously, was an astronaut Navy pilot, married to Gabby Gifford's the congresswoman who was shot in the attack

several years ago. That was already thirteen years his parents, his twin, or what happened with the space He spent like a year in space and he came back shorter. I don't remember which one is shorter, but yes, they did get a That's so irrelevant, but that's what I remember from him. But I'll tell you what, There are people who would change their vote based on that. No, that's how dumb we are as a people.

I guarantee you there'd be people. I don't like people shrinking. You know what I was remembering is when we talked to Mark Saltzman yesterday about tech Talk and he was talking about the new phone coming out and he's like, yeah, and one of the features of the phone is you get to draw a picture on it and put a hat. And I was like, we are such a dumb people. We want to just draw pictures on our phones.

Now, that's where we are. That's where we are. Is oh, I want to draw a picture using my finger on my phone and then have a mechanism for it to become three D like Jesus, Mary and Joseph China. Come get us. Take it. We're right for the picking. Take it. We broke it. Love you guys. You took up with the politics. Let's go back to honkers Friday. Come oh, that's all right, it's a Honker's Friday. Let's just talk about Gary walking around in his

speedo around his pool. The kids are gone, the wife's out of town. Come on, gay, let's talk about it. I watch every well not every day, but a lot. You know how to rock it out? Baby wa good wow, big son, Jerry, big big sond thank you. Wow. So wait, hold on, i'd flag that one and maybe reach out to law enforcement. Why stud Horse, Daddy Stallion. I got no problem with that. You like you like men cheering for you to be walking around your pool and your speedo. Nice to be appreciated. That's

Gary and Shannon. This is Mark in San Diego. Just a quick question. Shannon strikes me as the type of lady that tells her husband to pull her finger on the rag. Can I get a confirmation or denial on that? Have you ever done that? I love you guys. First of all, I don't expel gas. Second of all, if I did, I wouldn't be able to do it on command. Third of all, if I could, I would do it all the time. All right, a little

bit of politics. If Joe Biden were to drop out, I think it would be really interesting if the Dems nominated Joe Manchin to replace him on the ticket. He's centrist enough to get Republicans to switch over that aren't interested in voting for Trump again. And really the only thing that's holding Mansion back from being nominated is the fact that he could never get through a primary, and this is a way to bypass the primary. I am with you. Former

Senator from West Virginia, a pretty pretty red state. But he is a Democrat, or at least he was. He he's one of the those guys that would never, to his point, would never make it through the Democrat primary process, although would appeal to a lot more voters and a lot more even moderate Republicans because of who he is, but the party would never allow that. So I had a question about the timing of Gavin Newsom signing the bill that was far left here in California. Yeah, as the Gender Identity

Informating Informing the Parents' Bill. Yes, okay, And I thought, why the hell would he do that if he's running for president? But then I thought, because I like my fan fiction that plays out in my tinfoil head. Then I thought, well, if it's an open convention fan fiction music, Okay, if it's an open convention, to get past that first ballot, you've got to appeal to all the super lefties exactly, You've got to appeal You've got to go far left or far right in the primary. And

it's men find some sort of middle ground to get to jail. Yes, And it's weedy enough that I think only we're talking about that bill in California, but it would play out well with the progressives, and then because it's so weedy, it kind of falls by the wayside once you have to face off against Trump, you can appeal to the moderates in that time space.

Sure, So that's why I think he did that well. And I think on the Republican side of it, Nikki Haley was one of those people who, at least in the polls early on, she pulled much better against Joe Biden than did Donald Trump, to the point where she had a double digit lead in a couple of poles over in the hypothetical matchup between her and Joe Biden. Now, does that mean that the Republican Party is beholden to Donald

Trump? Yeah? Because they are. Yeah. Does this mean the Democrats are beholden to whoever's next in line as opposed to the candidate that would be the one more guaranteed to challenge Donald Trump in an actual general election. I think Joe Manchin. I don't know if he's got the name recognition nationally, but he is a guy who would appeal to some of those moderate Republicans, and he do really well in the swing states. He's not one hundred years

old old. He's seventy six. Seventy six, Okay, yeah, so it's now or never for Joe Manchin. The thing is, would he drop his independent label to get back into the Democratic Party. He doesn't have to be a Democrat to run in the ticket, but would be an interesting marriage of those two. So yesterday we reported that the big heavy hitters were coming out and talking about Biden stepping aside. Heavy hitters being Barack Obama, Nancy

Pelosi. Of course, not publicly, but privately, everyone in the know says that they've had conversations about him stepping aside, and that Pelosi actually showed her math, went to Biden with the math of how he's not going to beat Trump. Now, she's deploying people, She's deploying her soldiers there in Congress. Most recently, Representative Zoe Lofgren, Democrat, Californian, respected voice on Capitol Hill, sent Biden a letter last night calling for him to drop

out of the race. She is a close ally of Nancy Pelosi. There are now three people that served on that House committee investigating the January sixth attack that have called on Biden to step aside. In her letters, she said as I am aware that you have been provided data indicating that you, in all likelihood would lose the race for president, I will not go through it again. Simply put, your candidacy is on a trajectory to lose a White

House and potentially impact crucial House and Senate races down ballot. It's for these reasons I urge you to step aside from our party's nomination and allow another Democratic

candidate to compete and beat Donald Trump. There is an interesting article in the New York Time today that there's a handful of them to actually do a pretty good job of detailing the pressure that is mounting against President Biden to step down, and one of them, the headline is President Biden is still bitter about feeling pushed out of the twenty sixteen race in favor of Hillary Totally, totally, and again it's the same chip on his shoulder that Bernie Sanders has exactly.

And I was just going to say that because it's These are examples of when the party feels like they're gonna crown, or they already have in mind who they're going to crown, as opposed to the legitimate, open process of allowing members of the party to determine who should lead them into the next whatever. Isn't this why we left England? We don't have coronations here. This is America of the people, by the people, for the people. We

are the people. We should pick the leaders, not the powers that be, because we are America. Sorry, it's Friday. I don't have as much fervor worked up. What are you going to do this weekend all alone? Are you going to walk around in a stato around your pool? Probably? I mean, I don't know if you call do you even call it a speedo anymore? It's not a speedo. It's a budgie, smuggler budgie. That's what the Australian skulls like. There's a little bird, nevermnth m

a little bird. If it looks like a bird, you need to see somebody. So, uh, the dog is learning to socialize, and he's not fully vaccinated yet, so I can't take him everywhere I want to, but I can take him to some specific places and try to just get him used to noises and people and stuff going on. So you're going to socialize the dog this weekend? Yeah? Wearing pants? You're gonna be wearing pants or shorts. Oh me, yes, I'll be wearing pants. The dog

won't be wearing pants. Do you even own a budgy smuggler? No, no, I do have. I do have swim trunks like workout but they're they're like, uh, thigh cut. They look like bike shorts, but they're speedo swim trunks. That those things don't compute. They're they're thigh length, but they're speedo shorts. Oh you like there's a thing inside. No, no, there's swim trunks. But racing trunks. Is that that makes

sense? No, racing trunks. What are you an Olympia Now, well, that's that's what those that's everybody wears those now when they're when they're racing swim trunks. All right, Why why is this? Portland's mayor has declared a city emergency on truck. Yeah, that's why I said, Oh, you wear that in public? If I'm at the pool, at the gym, yes, I wear those. There's hardly anybody there. Ever, some of the city's computer systems, including ones used in the nine to one one

dispatch operations, all crashed as a result of the crowd strikeoutages. They're in Portland, so city officials have emphasized that the dispatch services did come back online at about six this morning, but some city services, again in Portland, Oregon, continue to be out throughout the morning. Don't she feel self conscious in those compared to the other people in the pool with me? Absolutely not, okay, And I'm not judging them because hey, they're working out.

It's just that people knowing your whole, like you know, my eyes are up here just so you know, I'm just saying, like you know. Vice President Kamala Harris is set this afternoon to address a network of major donors. This is a short notice situation. Two people invited to the call of time. To the New York Times, she will speak to the group at this time of as The New York Times calls it extraordinary turmoil and the Democratic Party. Is she the one that they need out there calming people down?

It says. It is unclear whether Miss Harris plans to encourage the restive donor base to calm down or deliver some other message. What she's gonna do is say, I'm the guy. How dare they unfrees your money and give it to me? I don't know if that how? He Yeah, Yi, what is she going to say that would calm them and have them divert their war chest to her? How about this something along the lines of listen, I know that the real Clear Politics average has Joe Biden trailing Trump by three

points, but I only trail him by two. That doesn't do it. And then Mike drop like she just walks off, walks off the stage. Maybe she wears racing trunks. Why is this a thing? I didn't realize that you were so concerned about that. I'm not. It's not my modesty in public. I just think that if I had genitals, do you not that were visible external external? Yes, go on, I wouldn't want to have them in front of strangers. They're okay. There's a couple of things

I agree with you. You get over it, Okay. I did it when I was swimming in high school, for example, which is a very difficult time to have your body on display for all to appreciate that. You get over it. It's not a big deal. Yeah, And they're black, so, I mean black shorts are hide some sins. Perhaps that a clear or not clear. It's not sinful. It's not sinful to have genitals. No, no, but I'm saying God made you the way that he

wanted to make you. You're less likely to see the k nooks crannies in black then you would if you if I were like a light color, making it worse. Good morning, it's them longa Hey, let's talk about the fact that Shannon doesn't carry a purse. Shannon carries a piece of luggage. True story. Also, great job on Saturday, Gary, Unfortunately you had to come in. Not a fan of the former president, but I'm also not a fan of people getting shot nobody. I'll bless you guys, and

God bless the United train wreck of America. Are you going to come in tomorrow? No, Hey, guys, I'm home with a VID right now. But I don't know why. When you talked about pulos playing people at that of the Wicked Witch, opening up the windows and monkeying the flying monkey, I had the same adventures flying pretty oh, then dancers clacking. That's awful, and that was a very patriotic speech of the people for the people. We are the people. But you've forgot one very important point. Soilent

green is people. I haven't heard of soilent green reference in years. I thought you were not getting the reference, but you got it. It's just an old reference. Yes, okay, you've been listening to the Gary and Shannon Show. You can always hear us live on KFI AM six forty nine am to one pm every Monday through Friday, and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app
