This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI A M. Six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Eleven o'clock. We dive into Washington. The swamp is horrible. Government doesn't work. Man, gonna make this like a reality TV show. Was a bad bos always a pleasure to be anywhere from Washington, d C. Hey, Joey, a town all too clearly built on a swamp and in so many ways still a swamp. I have to watch you make he said, drained the

swamp. I said, Oh, that's so hope. You know the thing, well, the latest is that Democrats now intend to hold a virtual vote to formally make President Joe Biden their nominee in the first week of August. They're pushing ahead with plans to do this before the convention opens two weeks later, even though there are more and more calls for a Democrat or for for for Democrats and the party that tell him to get out of the race. The late Adam Shift today, Now throw this in there. This just came

across. Believe it's Fox that's reporting this. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is now pushing for a delay in the convention. Oh boy. Schumer spoke with House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries. Both men agreed to urge a delayed convention. You can't I don't know if you can descrite the initial plans to hold a virtual role call to officially nominate Biden. Why would you delay a convention. There's plenty of time between now and then to have all of these discussions.

I mean, yes, the clock is ticking, but you you got a month. I don't know why you would need to delay it. And what an absolute f you to Chicago if they delayed it at all? Right, I mean plans are in place, this is it's just a it's a weird That would be a very weird time. How about just s or get off the pot? Well can you say that twenty eighty one year old guy. No, no, I'm not saying it to him. I don't think anybody's

saying anything to him. I'm saying it to the powers that be. Oh, whoever can get to Biden to make it as graceful as an exodus possible, get to him. Politico today was reporting on a polling memo that came out This is It's called the battleground test of candidates, and it was put together by Blue Labs Analytics, and they said it's circulating among Democratic Party leaders who are trying to convince President Biden to step aside. And here's a couple

of the things that they found. Alternative Democratic candidates run ahead of Biden by an average of three points when it comes to battleground states. And they said nearly every Democrat we tested performs better than Biden, including Kamala Harris, who runs better than the president but actually behind other alternatives. Did you see her video where she's talking about jd Vance. She posted it to her social media. You forget until you hear her how badly it is, how badly it

is bad. That's exactly you know what? That was perfect because I don't know what it is. She's not a stupid person. No, she's very smart. She tries too hard to use language to make it sound smart. It's it's atrocious. When you do that, it comes across bath and it comes across like she's not a human, Like she's she's not talking to anybody, she's not talking about you, And like that's the thing. That's one of the qualities that jd Vance has that Trump has where when they talk they

talk like normal people. Her and Newsome do not talk like normal people. Could you mind it sitting down for a meal and somebody starts talking like that? But see, I think that's the difference is if it was a meal, I feel like I feel like I could talk to Gavin Newsom er Kamala Harris over a meal as long as we're talking about politics and bulk like where they have to put on airs, Well, then whoever that person is sitting down with you having that meal, that's who they should be on the campaign

trail. Yeah. This again, This is a polling memo from bru Lap Blue Labs Analytics that's apparently been making its way around the Democratic Party. It says that some of the gains are coming from winning undecided and those previously supporting a third party, but alternative candidates are also pulling votes from Donald Trump. All candidates continue to hold the Democratic base and said the third point about this

is that voters are looking for a fresh face. This is the most interesting thing to me is they said those candidates most closely tied to the current administration perform worse than other tested candidates. So the closer you are to Joe Biden and establishment Democrats now poll worse. The closer you are, the worse you pull than those people farther away. And listen to some of these words.

I'm sorry, some of these names. The strongest potential candidates, they're an alphabetical order, not necessarily by the strength of their polling, but the strongest potential candidates that are not Joe Biden and not Kamala Harris, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Pennsylvania's governor Josh Shapiro, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. All four of them out pulled Joe Biden by about five points across

battleground state. Here's the problem. They don't have enough time to vet these people. Well, do they even have enough time to Kamala Harris to the degree of president of the United States? I mean, what's in their past? What kind of things could come up? Well, I think if you're a governor, for example, whether you're consisting words jump merge, jump from governor to president, there's a lot more routiney nationwide. Yes, but I

mean people in Michigan know Gretchen Whitmer. They've done. I think their their due diligence on Gretchen Whitmer. Not to say that I don't know I know anything about her that would preclude her from being president, but just well, I mean, yeah, I see. It's a strong point you make, and I'll just throw this in there. We know about Gavin Newsom's cocaine problems and how he screwed his friend's wife. They probably don't know that in Michigan

about Gavin Newsom. Yeah, they might probably not, but that would come out. I like that his name's not on there. I mean, just in terms I don't it's definitely not going to be on there now that he passed that law. It's noteworthy that his name is not on there. I it is noteworthy. I'll start by making one thing perfectly clear. Donald Trump has my strong endorsement. Period. Of course. Former South Carolina South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley also ambassador. At one point she said, we need to

have a party. We must not only be a unified party, we must also expand our party. We are so much better when we are bigger. We are stronger when we welcome people into our party who have different backgrounds and experiences, and right now we need to be strong to save America. This is a defining moment, not only for our party but for our country.

She and Ron De Santis both former candidates for president who then have now thrown their support behind former President Trump. They both spoke last night, as did Marco Rubio, and you mentioned this that you heard some good reviews about Laura Trump. She is the wife of Eric, one of the sons, daughter in law of the former president, and currently a co chair of the Republican

National Committee. And one of the things I thought she did well was tried to humanize Donald Trump after a lot of people sort of turn him into a monster of sorts. I know what you hear out there about Donald Trump. I know what you read, what the media tells you, and what out of touch celebrities on the left say about this man. But when I look at Donald Trump, I see a wonderful father, father in law, and

of course grandfather to my two young children, Luke and Carolina. I know that I'm lucky enough to get to call him my father in law and see him a little differently than all of you. But it's through that lens that I sometimes wish more people could see him. This is a man who has sacrificed for his family and a man who has truly sacrife for his country. He grew up, why he did it and why he continues on even in

the face of the unthinkable, because he loves this country. She used an anecdote referring to the time that he came out to speak after the conviction came down for the falsification of business records case, and she said, moments before that happened, nobody got to see this. Her kids, who are seven and nine or somewhere in that age range, ran up to Grandpa to show them, to show him their drawings that they had made in school, something

like that. I mean, just a very normal We all have the ability to relate to that kind of a scene. And she said, basically, that's the kind of stuff that we don't see about this guy, my father in law, whom I care for and love very much. Yeah, so it was well done. Harris is talking right now in Kalama Zoo, Michigan. Excuse me. One of the questions we now confront the one of the questions we now confront is about the way we should engage with one another in

this campaign. On Sunday evening, our President Joe Biden issued a call for unity, and there must be unity around the idea that while our nation's history has been scarred by political violence, violence is never acceptable. There can be no equivocation about that. At the same time, the hallmark of American democracy, the hallmark of any democracy, is a strong competition of ideas, policies,

and a vision for the future. And just as we must reject political violence, we must also embrace a robust discussion about what is at stake in this election. The surest way to reaffirm the strength of our democracy is by engaging in a vigorous and civil exchange of ideas. And one of the ideas and one of the principles that is at stake in this election is the issue of reproductive freedom. And that is why I am here today to discuss that

topic. And I look forward to our conversation. Thank you all very much. Thank you. Yeah, she's going to do. I guess it's a sit down style interview that she's doing there in Kalamazoo stage setup. Would you like your jeopardy questions? I just want to mention this JD vance is going to be the highlighted speaker, the headliner for tonight. He will be preceded by I just want to throw a couple of these names out there, Nancy Mace, Ronnie Jackson, Matt Gay. Now they're giving him the microphone.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, let's see Doug Bergham. Of course, Kelly on Conway is gonna have some time in there, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Where did it go? Donald Trump Junior Kai Trump is supposed to speak. She is Donald Trump's daughter, Usha Vance, the wife of J. D. Vance. And then, of course the Senator will speak probably about six thirty hour time for the keynote tonight. So you're not gonna You're not gonna speak. I got scratched, you did? Yeah? For who? The daughter? No,

actually a World War Two D Day veteran named Sergeant William Peckrule. I have no problem. You should not have if I was. If I was scratched for Kai Trump, yeah, I'd be a little miffed. But a guy who laid his life on the line of D Day, I'm fine. We talked yesterday about Elon Musk saying that he is getting out, He's going to be moving his company's headquarters to Texas from California. So now Newsom took

to Twitter. Instead of being a man and actually calling Elon Musk, which I'm sure he's got his number, he went to Twitter and accused Musk of bending the knee to former President Trump. All right, well you're bending the knee to the far left California with your you're taking away power from parents. Blah. I think you're You're all guilty of bending the knee from time to time. So it's really rich when one of them calls out another one.

Here's what Scott Weener said, fatherless. Sorry that's not the right word. Childless. Member of the state legislature called musk quote a textbook example of why kids shouldn't be forced to come out to their parents. What does that have to do with anything about the legislation that was passed about other people's kids, Elon? That's all that guy does, Are you kidding? Yeah? True, somebody should look a little closer at what he's doing on his downtime.

Guys, the Olympics starts in a week and a half. We do Oh that's Monday night football, sad face, that's the only sports song he saw it come up with immediately it was Monday night football. Oh my god. The Olympics, the grand Yeah, the flags. So the Olympics will start in Paris in a couple of week, ten days something like that. And one of the things they're going to be doing is they said at least that the opening ceremonies are going to be held along the Sane River. I think

how we say it now is that we're gonna say the Sane River. And one of the issues with the Sane River is number two, a lot of it in the river. In fact, when the Parisian sewer system was built, the whole plan basically was for any amount of overflow to go directly into the river. Why don't we have any poop music that we play when we when this comes up? Poopy music? Yeah, what's that smell? There's a lot of songs about poop out there. My side of it just comes

up so often. Show me the booty. Let's not take by boody booty. There have been daily water quality tests by a monitoring group. Results in early June indicated unsafe levels of E. Coli. Did you know? Did you know that it's been illegal to swim in that river for decades, because

it will kill you or give you active diarrhea. Kill you, your active diarrhea turns into someone else's active diarrhea, and the circle shall be complete, much like as human centipede, months of anticipation, after months, I should say, the mayor of Paris, her name is Anne Hidalgo, fulfilled a promise to show how clean the river was when she jumped in and swam the river today. That's really going above and beyond for your city, isn't it.

It's funny that and Manuel Macrone had also promised to do so, but I don't think he was there today. He had something else to do. She went into the river near the city hall, her office and Notre Dame, followed into the water by Olympic President and former canoeist Tony Estanoi, as well as Mark Guillolme, a top government official for the region there in Paris. In fact, Yolm is responsible for safety and traffic on the river,

which will be at the center of the opening ceremonies. This has been an issue in every Olympics. I think that we've seen in the last several cycles because when they were in Rio, remember they were supposed to be swimming along the beaches and that was papoos. Feces in the foam seems to be an ongoing problem with wherever the Olympics are. There were problems in Tokyo in twenty

one when they did the Olympics stay there. Here's the thing. I just watched the beaches report on the television for locally with the top ten bad beaches, and you know, if that's just you're gonna find feces in the foam wherever you go. It's all over our beaches. Yeah, that's why we're not doing the show from the beach? Is that why? That's probably the only reason. Do you want some breaking news on the Secret Service front?

The Washington Post reports that local police alerted the Secret Service before the rally that they lacked the resources to station a patrol car outside that building. The district attorney in Butler County said the Secret Service was informed that the local police department did not have the manpower to assist with securing that building. So was so was there a tactical team at the building? I don't know, but that

was the early report that they were inside the building. Yeah, that was the report that I think this is the local police saying not our monkey, not our circus, not our mess We told we gave you a heads up that we don't have the resources to be everywhere on that day. And again, keep this in the context of what we reported yesterday which came out that suggested Iran had a plot to assassinate former President Trump and that this was the

bumped up version of security around the former president. Keep in mind that this just sheds more light on the fact that they knew that building was going to be a problem. That building was going to be a problem from the time they checked that site or they picked that site. They should have circled it and said we need to man this building, and the local police gave them a heads up, Hey, we don't have the band power to man that building. So there was not like this. It's not like it was an

under the radar place. But how does and again this is not a conspiracy theory, It's just a question how does a twenty year old find the week spot like that, A twenty year old with the week spot that shouldn't be a week spot because everyone knew about it, who has no footprint, who has not posted anything you haven't heard what's in his phone? All of it. It's all very convenient, isn't it? Lying to our spouses. People are doing it a lot. There is a study that suggests that I along

with our consumerist nature that exists in this country. I mean, we are celebrating the great holiday that exists called Amazon Prime Days, right, I think it ends at sundown, if that's down. Nearly two thirds of people who live with someone else a spouse or significant other, hid a purchase from their partner over the course of the last year. Gary, didn't you buy a gift for your wife that you couldn't find? True? I think gifts are

different. It was a lamp, and gifts are different. That's everybody does that. Everybody hides it? Should do you buy like a pair of shoes and don't tell your husband about it? And I think that every woman does that. First of all, I don't want my husband to know I'm spending money on stuff that I don't need. Second of all, he doesn't care if I buy a new pair of shoes, right. I mean, so both of those want you to be happy. Yeah, So why even mention

it? They said a quarter of people hide a clothing purchase, and one in ten will actually manipulate financial records to conceal their spending. Wow, that's next level. Stacy Geisingers jeans anthropology, dresses and other purchases past her husband in the gym bag or the dry cleaning but bag. She said, it delays the fight because you can have two fights, one when you bring the shopping bag into the house and one when the bill comes. Wow. That

sounds like a really fun marriage. See that's my that's the issue that I have with it. I don't have a problem. My wife and I have shared bank accounts for the entirety of our marriage. Not everybody does that. I don't. Whatever, however you set it up for us. It's easier only because the bills can come out of one place. That kind of stuff. But if that's a thing, if if money is a concern in your marriage, this is the this is the worst thing that you could do.

Yeah, because it's a lot tight even if it's the little things. Oh it's just spirit geens, Oh, it's just I you know whatever. Whatever the reasoning is that kind of little uh money, not infidelity, but that that little kind of untruth like that is what is where all the big things stem from Yeah, it says. It sucks if you're fighting about money to begin with, without that layered on top of it, there's there's just no

need for it. Hey, Garian, Shannon. I'm a mailman and the wife asked me to put packages in a certain spot so the husband won't find them. That's great, Shannon, crazy from Yakima. If you have to use hide the packages from your husband and the nanny does it in the same sentence, You've got enough money to buy whatever you want. That's what I tell her. That's what I tell you that it's true. But see, part of their fight is that they have a nanny and all the other stuff

too, so it's still technically a fight about money, exactly. All right, we'll do our trending stories. We got what you watch on Wednesday coming up. Man, still a lot to go to go, Still a lot to And they have a landscaper. They call them a landscaper, not a gardener's that's pretty ridiculous, is what that is. You've been listening to The

Gary and Shannon Show. You can always hear us live on KFI AM six forty nine am to one pm every Monday through Friday, and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
