[UNKNOWN]: you [SPEAKER_00]: welcome into another edition of the future socks round up. [SPEAKER_00]: My name is Elijah Evans joined by my co-host Dylan Barnus. [SPEAKER_00]: We are back. [SPEAKER_00]: We got more stuff to talk about as we record today. [SPEAKER_00]: We are three days out from the MLB trade deadline which is going to be crazy.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to record again on probably on Thursday or Friday here once we get a deadline rumbling because we're going to be like going on this week. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be pretty crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: The white socks as they play the fillies right now play it pretty well. [SPEAKER_00]: You know shout out Colson Montgomery man first before we kind of get into our topics for today. [SPEAKER_00]: Cole's a Montgomery. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw this.

[SPEAKER_00]: The first left hander to go deep on Christopher Sanchez. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll see. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Christopher Sanchez is like one of the first of all, most underrated picture baseball. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's a crazy statement, but I think he's such a good pitcher and Cole's a Montgomery and all specifically against lefties, like no lefties touched. [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He's a lot of four lefty homers in his entire career. [SPEAKER_00]: He's career. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And that was including like a rookie season when he was still like an old buddy at that point. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's impressive. [SPEAKER_00]: Cole's in looks great. [SPEAKER_00]: Luis Robert, home run. [SPEAKER_00]: very impressive there. [SPEAKER_00]: Nice to see you make a diving catch as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: We hear people mentioning it, you know, they have done brass keys there tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see what happens. [SPEAKER_00]: Luis Robert. [SPEAKER_00]: We've said it from the start. [SPEAKER_00]: We said it on our mock trades episode last week, like the fillings are the best fit for Luis Robert. [SPEAKER_00]: It has been that way for the past two years. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to talk about Luis Robert trades.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like he is such a good fit for them to help that outfield defensively with so many kind of older outfielders out there to really just kind of shore up their outfield defense to Mash's lefty is which is something they need to help with. [SPEAKER_00]: It makes so much sense. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, but I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think this is like the series is, hey, if you can win a gamer to you from the Phillies, awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: And be, if you can use this series to train at least Robert to the Phillies, I am all for it. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, if he ends up auditioning for the Phillies and it doesn't end up that he goes there, you know, you got other suitors in the Mets and the Padres. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, that the Dodgers are always lurking. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to rule them out based on how connected they've been.

[SPEAKER_02]: exactly based on how connected they've been in the past I'm not going to rule them out but you know I think that the two top dogs are the fillies and the meds and if our puts on a show then the fillies could be like all right we're getting this guy and we're going to go with the analyst so yeah it's the best of both worlds [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So for today, we're going to get into a variety of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do a little bit of a few different things today. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll touch on some promotions, a number of guys in the organization received a promotion since the All Star Break. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about some of the guys at their new levels. [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of why they were promoted, what led to that, and then kind of what we expect to see from them at the next level.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then we're going to dive into a little bit of quick talk on the draft class guys from what I've heard there, you know, the white sector going to be sending guys to affiliates next week, next week being, you know, the [SPEAKER_00]: only two weeks through I guess right now we're two weeks post drafts and that would be three weeks post draft. [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's in Arizona right now. [SPEAKER_00]: They're playing these virtually games right now with draft class this week.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's three games scheduled this week, skirmishes with draft class. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be their time to kind of show what they've gotten Arizona and then you're going to see a number of the college guys a fair handful of them heading out to affiliates. [SPEAKER_00]: Then today we're going to wrap up by talking just some of the top prospects and kind of what we want to see here.

[SPEAKER_00]: As we look into, you know, I'll guess you've got less than two months in the minor league season here for [SPEAKER_00]: the lower levels you only got about a month and a half an end for Charlotte you've got a little under two months here so very interesting to see kind of what that looks like but we're going to just wrap today by talking through just some of the guys that you know what we want to see from some guys as the season wraps up here.

[SPEAKER_02]: yeah you know it's gonna be it's gonna be a fun couple days especially with the trade deadline you never know a Louis robber trade could break while we're on live in the next hour so but uh yeah we're gonna talk uh some it's a it's a bit of a different change of pace from our usual content but i think this is a good sort of benchmark to see what what uh what top prospects are

[SPEAKER_02]: what they need to do to have a successful end of the season and you know for some guys they've already smashed my expectations already they've they've beaten what I expected from them coming into the year and now anything else is just is gravy but you know there are some guys where you know you'd like to see them just take a little bit more steps towards you know a potential end of the year promotion or starting off twenty twenty six at a higher level

[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to see some some growth from those guys, this is the time to do it because you can ride that momentum into the offseason and just keep building. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a hundred percent. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the time where you want to see guys take that step, make that move and just become, you know, just show a little bit of stuff of what we want to see from that player moving forward, whether it's, you know, just getting back in their groove or anything like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll start with some promotions. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you kind of probably know who I'm going to kind of start with here, because he's been ridiculous. [SPEAKER_00]: This is my guy, our guy, you know, Sam Antonachi has been Birmingham for two weeks and he already is maybe the best hitter in that Birmingham line up to be honest. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, he won double a hitter of the week already last week.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's played nine games in double a and already has a hitter of the week under his belt. [SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's ridiculous stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: And I, I just, I've been really impressed by Antanachi the entire season, but now that he's in double a, I think that [SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it's just going to become even more impressive because he's doing it against the best of the best.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like the southern league is a very pitcher dominant league and he looks like he's still in canapolis. [SPEAKER_02]: He's still just going the other way for singles and he's doing that approach where, you know, if he gets a strike first pitch or if he gets a pitch that he wants to hit first, first pitch that bad, he'll swat it into the left center. [SPEAKER_02]: But if he doesn't, that'll be super patient and grind out a nine pitch at that.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of fun watching it tonight at this year. [SPEAKER_02]: And he could be in the mix for a twenty twenty six white socks position. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean since he didn't Birmingham, it's not just like with him, the approach never where it never varies. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what's really exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of players as they rise the ranks where they get a little eager.

[SPEAKER_00]: They get a little ambitious and then they kind of adjust their approach, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, nine games they're in Birmingham. [SPEAKER_00]: Not only is getting four hundred, but he has almost six hundred on base percentage because he's walk nine times in nine games. [SPEAKER_00]: He only struck out five. [SPEAKER_00]: Another five stolen bases to go along with that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, on the season now, it's between, you know, when you look at his total season stats and seventy five games, including a couple games at the complex when he's rehabbing, it's fifty walks to forty six strikeouts. [SPEAKER_00]: And on base percentage of four, forty nine and thirty two stolen bases when you tack on all that.

[SPEAKER_00]: the impact is still coming along right you only four homers four triples like sure you want to see that tick up but this guy could be a valuable big league player even if it's ten homers a year right like it doesn't have to be more than that yeah you'd love to see him kind of continue to develop and grow into his body also like twenty two until the beginning of next season he doesn't twenty two twenty three until spring training next year

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, you know, this is like I could still add a little bit more impact, but I'm here for a man. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been great. [SPEAKER_00]: He looks good at that level. [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody just asked kind of, you know, where are you going to play him? [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting because the answer to, you know, coming in as a short stop right has played a little bit of short time this year, but it's mostly been playing third and second a combination of both.

[SPEAKER_00]: Since getting to Birmingham, I believe it's it's three games at third, two game four games a second and then two games de aging just because of the mix they're in Birmingham. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's actually looked pretty good at third base. [SPEAKER_00]: It is more about the arm. [SPEAKER_00]: If the arm can hold up at third, I think he could last with her. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the angstings and the feel at third base is actually very fairly good for Man's Nachy.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's like third in college too, so this has a experience playing third. [SPEAKER_00]: If it's at second, I think it can be an even better caliber of defense, but I do think they're going to give him a chance to keep working up at third and still mixing at third and second. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's going to play much short at this point from moving up.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and if you can just be a versatile in field or that can play second, third or short, you know, we've seen the white socks utilize Colson Montgomery and chase my draft at multiple different positions. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, if you can basically slide any of the three guys on on the the non first base positions, you can just slide them around in any combinations that you want.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good thing because you've always got athletic athletic people up the middle and then you got somebody at third.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know Chase Midoff is probably the least likely to play third because I think Antonachus Arm is maybe a bit better than him and he doesn't have to get like the the running start that my draw does when he throws a ball across the diamond, but you know, I think that [SPEAKER_02]: And it actually could very well be the third basement for the white socks in the second half in twenty twenty six and it would not shock me at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and if it's a rotating spot replays a couple of games second the right third if you can be a backup at short like that that works as well for him. [SPEAKER_00]: Moving on to some other guys, the next up I wanted to discuss is Matthias Locumbay and I'm kind of just going in in chronological order for people listening of just kind of since the all-star break who's gotten promoted, I'm going since then and working towards now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matthias Locumbay, we've been talking about him for a while this year because he has been metrically and performance-wise incredibly impressive, but as a twenty-three year old, you know, in the complex, right, like in the complex stats in general or a little bit hard to put much stock in.

[SPEAKER_00]: Complex numbers can often be inflated either direction just kind of you know the depending on the way it goes for certain guys Locum Bay gets to Kenap was he got promoted about ten days ago I believe and then he you know is gets to Kenny's first game there.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's three innings of no hit ball two walks four strikeouts The stuff is really good man the stuff is really good and there's a reason why Locum Bay a despite being a you know a twelve-thrunder not really pitching a ton [SPEAKER_00]: Last year an opportunity at all last year the minor league ranks There's a reason why he's going to be in our top thirty men and it's really cool to now see him in canapolis when we get to watch him in games hopefully at least once or twice a week

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, there was a couple clips of his stuff that were going around Twitter and just like the shapes and just everything about his pitches, like he was way too good for Arizona. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really, I'm not sure why he was there longer than his earnings thing to. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, probably that I'm feeling. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's probably similar to what we saw with Christian Hopper last year where it was just like mechanical stuff that he.

[SPEAKER_02]: We wasn't necessarily fully comfortable with yet and the organization just didn't see everything that they wanted to see before they shipped him out to to an affiliate, but you know, he dominated in Arizona and then he is continuing that in Canapolis because. [SPEAKER_02]: you know, that the pitch metrics are very good. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a fastball up to ninety eight. [SPEAKER_02]: The sweeper is really good.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then the splitter that he's added has really sort of tied everything together. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just a really fun three pitch mix that look whom is it look whom Bayer is at look home. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know I should ask him or his family at some point. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a really fun mix and he is he's going to be in our top thirty because of it. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, it's not that he's been a standout in the the high miners.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's no, he's just gotten a ton of love from people who are there watching the games and can see just how dominant he really is. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a hundred percent. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just been really impressive. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, I'm curious what the plan is with him. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one guy who I'm definitely watching. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, in terms of, he's not going to be on our list for later in the episode.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I might as well say it now. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he, for the second half, like, what is the plan with him? [SPEAKER_00]: Is it throwing three to four innings spurts here for the rest of the season to then have him starting next year? [SPEAKER_00]: Is it kind of working him into two innings spurts twice a week? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is it kind of look like with him? [SPEAKER_00]: Because you'd love that profile to be a starter, and he has the talent to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: But twenty three years old hasn't built up his arm enough. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like if you're going to start him he's probably not fully ramped up till mid to late next season as a starter. [SPEAKER_00]: He's still only in at most double lay at that point and then he's twenty four twenty five like part of me thinks we with the guy of his stuff in his caliber. [SPEAKER_00]: You can kind of fast track him as a reliever here, but I'm curious to see.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I could definitely see him being that sort of like long relief guy out of the bullpen. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, some, I don't want to call him like like Vassal ask where he can play multiple roles in that bullpen, but you know, it would not shock me if he sort of ends up being that Swiss army knife can pitch out of, he can pitch as the first guy out of the bullpen. [SPEAKER_02]: He can pitch as the last guy out of the bullpen.

[SPEAKER_02]: He can fill in for a spot start here and there. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of different ways that you could build out Locumes. [SPEAKER_02]: like overall outlook, but I think that he like the fastest track like you were saying for him to be a big leader is probably through the bolt end just because his arm isn't gonna need to be stretched out as much as he would had he been a starter.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, next promotion to mention is Ryan Burroughs and Ryan Burroughs is a kind of surprising promotion and, you know, surprising because it hasn't been the easiest path for him the past two seasons in Canapolis, but had really shown a lot of signs lately in his past handful of games of looking pretty good in the last month or two in in Canning and I think just situationally there was just, you know, there's going to be guys coming up from the draft and it just made sense to get him to Winston for kind of build on that momentum he was feeling.

[SPEAKER_00]: his first five games in Winston four hits, some some up some downs a couple soul and bases couple defensive miscues but interesting to see burrows, you know, getting up to that at that at this point where he's twenty so he's still still pretty young for the high level and hasn't had the most success in single way to this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Were you surprised and kind of just wanted you make of his promotion?

[SPEAKER_02]: I kinda was, but at the same time, it also sort of makes made sense because, you know, he's a streaky guy and, you know, he was on a bit of a hot streak before being promoted and then you hope that he could ride that into a new level and continue to perform well and get comfortable there. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, you struggle a bit. [SPEAKER_02]: It's been an up and down season, especially defensively because he'll make plays that you're like, [SPEAKER_02]: What are we doing?

[SPEAKER_02]: And then he'll also make a web gem sports center top ten play. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's definitely interesting profile with burrows. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think that if he was going to get promoted to hire any time this year, it was going to be around now when all of the college drafts are coming in. [SPEAKER_02]: And somebody's got to go up because there's simply no room in Minneapolis right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody asked in the chat if there's any chance George goes to Winston. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see George walk out of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's pretty unlikely at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been an up and down season. [SPEAKER_00]: I just think they'd rather have him in in Canapolis, just write out the season there and then be able to go next year, build on some of that momentum.

[SPEAKER_00]: One of their guy to mention in terms of the promotions and a number of guys obviously released that's one harsh thing hard thing with the draft is that there is a number of guys that are going to get released every year. [SPEAKER_00]: It's sucked in me wish all those guys the best. [SPEAKER_00]: Adrian Gill isn't a heal. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with Adrian heal. [SPEAKER_00]: I believe I believe the heal like Luis heal of the Yankees.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's been really good this year. [SPEAKER_00]: He's done a lot of good things in there. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a second year at the complex level. [SPEAKER_00]: He was there last year and there's been some noticeable improvements this season with just a little bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: A little bit [SPEAKER_00]: upside in terms of the power. [SPEAKER_00]: He's tapping into a little bit more there. [SPEAKER_00]: He's still in some more bags.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing all over the infield. [SPEAKER_00]: So interesting guy to just keep an eye on there who now he's in Canapos. [SPEAKER_00]: And the baths are going to be interesting with some of the draft guys getting there too. [SPEAKER_00]: How they're going to spread a baths up. [SPEAKER_00]: Adrian Hill, you know, had a nice hit in his first first game there. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll be up and down. [SPEAKER_00]: Still super young.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I am curious to see how he'll does in Canapos there. [SPEAKER_00]: How much anything to get here down the stretch. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's I think he's what he's nineteen twenty. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nineteen.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, he's he's still very young and I think this is sort of just a move for him to continue playing against actual competition because there's on a complex season just ended last week the white socks the white socks there's on a complex team actually did better than

[SPEAKER_02]: any team in recent memory they were they just missed out on the playoffs by a single it was a tiebreaker they were tied for first getting it up and ended up yeah ended up not making the playoffs but it's just a way for heel to continue playing against pitchers who are actually I don't want to say trying because you know pitchers are trying even in the like the [SPEAKER_02]: the backfield games in Arizona.

[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it's just, it's a way for him to continue to get better. [SPEAKER_02]: And I feel open the season in Canyon next year. [SPEAKER_02]: I would be shocked if he went back down or got a bump up. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it'll be, it'll be fun to see how they distribute all the endings between the new guys and the, the college draft picks that are coming in. [SPEAKER_02]: So, canapolis is going to be pretty fun to watch in the coming six weeks.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, definitely man. [SPEAKER_00]: I am with you for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be really cool with a new guy there. [SPEAKER_00]: The last promotion to mention is Jacob Gonzalez heading to Charlotte. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that is we're going to get into later where we think draft guys are going to go. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's this chain reaction a little bit and this is somewhere with Antonachi going up the revving hand.

[SPEAKER_00]: That kind of a logical to push. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, Gonzalez up to Charlotte and then we're going to see some guys coming into the lower levels who will take those spots right. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: No way. [SPEAKER_00]: Vaughn just hammered. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's more next year. [SPEAKER_02]: I could see him debuting like last ten games this season, something something like that.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that this is more of a promotion for next year and just seeing what he has against AAA pitching because, yeah, at least in my opinion, I think that any bat that you were going to send to Charlotte, you could have just called up right away from AA, I think that the AA just [SPEAKER_02]: talent as a whole, I'm pitching and the hitting side.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is an overall more talented league than Triple A, but you know, with Gonzalez, there's a bit of like he's he's found something with a torpedo bat, you know, he had a bad last month or so, but you know, before that he was starting to hit like you like the first round draft pick that he was drafted as.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that they're just looking for him to continue to [SPEAKER_02]: continue to hit with that with the torpedo bat and we know how how much of an offensive environment Charlotte is and you know if he can benefit from that and sort of ride that momentum in the next year I'm all for it. [SPEAKER_02]: I may up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'd love to see him kind of heat up.

[SPEAKER_00]: It would be nice to see just some some high end production for him given confidence going into next year and just see where that goes from there. [SPEAKER_00]: The, you know, next thing we're going to kind of get into is where these draft class guys and this leads into it because the draft class is an interesting situation where I think that it's going to be [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't mean unique this year because there is, you know, these higher end picks, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: The guys that were circling are more often new. [SPEAKER_00]: These high school guys probably are going to be an Arizona for us this season. [SPEAKER_00]: I think, I've heard there's a chance that Billy Carlson debuts an Interapolis this year, but if not, I do think that they will spend Carlson, Favsky and Hodg, that is the three top three of the four high school picks.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think they will spend the majority of the season in a [SPEAKER_00]: Arizona, the rest of the season, but a lot of college guys who I do think will debut at the affiliates and and from what I've heard are going to debut at the affiliates next week. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Brad, yeah, that's a thank you in the chat. [SPEAKER_00]: We bring him a company to see the world. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I should circle back to that before. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, great amount coming goes to go to AA.

[SPEAKER_00]: That one was surprising, appreciate baseball in the chat. [SPEAKER_00]: That was, I had that on my list and just totally went through it. [SPEAKER_00]: Bratima Montgomery goes to Birmingham. [SPEAKER_00]: That was surprising. [SPEAKER_00]: That definitely caught me off guard. [SPEAKER_00]: I, I thought it would be this season. [SPEAKER_00]: I expected it this year, but I didn't expect it this soon. [SPEAKER_00]: And I do think it's interesting.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was kind of just like, oh, he looks good out of the break. [SPEAKER_00]: He made some adjustments. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of the White Talks vibe all season. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a little bit of like capitalizing on a guy having a hot street stretch here. [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think when Brandon got, you know, kind of bumped up to Birmingham this week?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, I thought it was a bit a bit sooner than I expected, but you know, at the same time, he started the second half strong and, you know, if they want to get him [SPEAKER_02]: in Birmingham at a time where he's hot and he's seen the ball well now is the perfect time because I always thought that he would be like ending the season in Birmingham whether that be for like a two week stretch or four week stretch. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think that it would be in July.

[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it would be later on in August and he would just get a little taste of double a action at the end of the year.

[SPEAKER_02]: This sort of makes it seem like he could be fighting for a roster spot next year because in my opinion, there's not a lot of outfielders that could compete for roles in the White Sox at the major league level, there's not a lot of internal options for an outfield role, especially if Andrew Ben attending his trade and especially [SPEAKER_02]: If Louie's Robert gets traded, there's a lot of open positions.

[SPEAKER_02]: And this sort of makes it seem like they want him to, they want to see how we can do against that next tier of pitching. [SPEAKER_02]: Because like I said earlier, I think double a pitching is just as good or better than triple a. So, you know, if they can see how he does against double a pitching, then you never know, it could just be straight up from double a to the big leagues in in twenty six.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how that how that checks out with him. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to ask this been asked a couple times. [SPEAKER_00]: I see Braden is more of a right fielder. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a chance he's sent her and I do think he's still going to get reps here in their incentive. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think with the arms strength and just kind of with wanting to keep making sure his bad is the priority ultimately.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's more of a right fielder and I think he will be playing right field and try to go next year like you just alluded to there. [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know when. [SPEAKER_00]: I still think it's later in the season next year, verse earlier, but at the same time, man, they're winning this youth right now, and they're making it very clear this season, more than ever, that they want to prioritize the youth.

[SPEAKER_00]: The organization is ready to prioritize the youth. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, Braden's last ten games, and Abel, and Winston, before he goes up Birmingham, right, it was a one, ninety-two WRC plus an OPS over a thousand in his past ten games. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and you know, let's strike out right of only twenty-five percent in past ten games. [SPEAKER_00]: compared to, you know, a little bit of a higher mark on the season. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think they saw that he was getting hot.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was looking comfortable. [SPEAKER_00]: He's looking better from the right, you know, both sides of the plate as well. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's really nice to batch from WF side where he had struggled at times this year. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think it was just, you know, lucky. [SPEAKER_00]: He's eating out. [SPEAKER_00]: He looks good. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's just do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get him to that level.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have some good hitters and that line up with him. [SPEAKER_00]: That Birmingham lineup is all the sudden pretty fun there with Anthony. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Brady Montgomery joining it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And one of my guys Ryan Galini is consistently hitting [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's hitting three or four in that line of time.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really fun top of the line up and then you got Rikunashita, who's just a walking highlight reel. [SPEAKER_02]: He's just a very fun baseball player. [SPEAKER_02]: Even if he ends up just being an org guy, he's one of my favorite guys to watch in the system just because he's doing things that time for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: That just don't happen on the baseball field today. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a hundred percent man. [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now we can get into the draft guys here. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, a lot of these guys are going to be up at affiliates with a college heavy class after those three early prep guys and then Matthew bought and it's well being the late prep guy right for you know, sixteen of twenty text being college guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: a good number of them being either older signings or, you know, or kind of just experience guys like a Colby Shelton, right, or, you know, some senior signings in a Pino or Riley Eckoff, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So you've got a lot of range of experience here. [SPEAKER_00]: Quick shout out to, as the time when this episode is out on audio, there will also be a Kyle of these interview. [SPEAKER_00]: I just talked to him today.

[SPEAKER_00]: Great dude, really cool to get to know him a little bit in here, or kind of what his path has been like. [SPEAKER_00]: So definitely be on a lookout for my interview with third round pick, Kyle O'Dease.

[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of Kyle O'Dease, I think there's a few college guys that have a real reason and a real shot to go right to Winston, whether it's because of positioning or just their experience, I do think there's maybe three or four, maybe even five guys that could be at least in consideration for Winston. [SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately, I think a couple will probably go there and skip over a cannapolis. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think we've said it from the beginning.

[SPEAKER_02]: Lodice is like the very obvious candidate to go straight to Winston because, you know, you've got Caleb Bonamer in Canapolis holding down the short sub-spot and with same antonacci going up to [SPEAKER_02]: To double a, that sort of leaves a vacant shortstop spot. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, you got Ryan Burrows, but he can shift to another position.

[SPEAKER_02]: He can, he can shift to third for all Perez can shift to second wherever, but Lodis should pretty easily go to Winston my eyes. [SPEAKER_02]: And then you imagine that Colby Shelton, I think he can easily go to third base in Winston right away. [SPEAKER_02]: And then some of the older pitchers, you know, you mentioned Riley, I cough. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure if like a Daniel Wright would go straight there. [SPEAKER_02]: He could think so, but it's possible. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Some of that of the pen and canapolis, but yeah, just any of the older like senior sign guys who have been around for a while and, you know, they don't have anything to prove in in canapolis, so they're just, all right. [SPEAKER_02]: go up to Winston to start. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think the majority of guys will see capulas first before. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That anything. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think Anthony Dupino is the other one to mention, senior signing out of Rhode Island, you know, a bigger first basement, probably shifts to third or third basement, but probably shifts to first. [SPEAKER_00]: I think him and Shelton could be the corner guys and Winston there if you want to push those guys. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think yeah, low decent and Shelton the two that I'm kind of the most key to non-in terms of going straight to Winston.

[SPEAKER_00]: Beyond those guys, I do think that you're going to get, you know, a pretty large crop of pitchers, especially in Canapolis, I think. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not sure if Gabe Davis is currently healthy right now, but I feel like if he is, I think that a picture of his caliber has nothing to prove in canapolis.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you view him as a reliever, which I've seen conflicting reports, [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think you would draft a reliever in the fifth round. [SPEAKER_02]: So if he's a starter, I could see him going to Canapolis. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I think he's in Canapolis. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's more of a let him kind of work on his body to come a real starter and canapolis this year. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'll say this.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll I would not shock me if he opened twenty twenty six in Winston just because of how good his stuff is and if he can say healthy over the over the over the winter. [SPEAKER_02]: We're not shocked me at all if they were like, yeah, you've got you've got nothing nothing to do and canapolis you're just going straight to Winston.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, no, I'm I'm with you for sure So that's kind of where we generally see those draft guys going I think next year like for reference of people that are kind of wanting to know about the high school the prep guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see any reason why Carlson and Fauci couldn't open the air and canapolis [SPEAKER_00]: There's a chance they still spend a little bit of time in Arizona next year just because they are so that so young.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think Hodge is more likely to spend a little bit of time in Arizona. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see Hodge being kind of like, like, well, Cal was where he gets at least a couple months, maybe, and can out in Arizona next year and he forces the agenda. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do expect Billy Carlson and Jane Faske to be starting with cannapolis pretty much all next season.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that both of them, especially Carlson are going to be in canapolis, if not on opening day very shortly after Carlson, I think is the more likely one just because of his age. [SPEAKER_02]: And like, yeah, we've said, or we've seen Mike Shirley say like, yeah, it's not about chronological age, it's about developmental age. [SPEAKER_02]: which I think is interesting, but Billy Carlson is too advanced for Arizona.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's very, very simply, but he's too good for beating up. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say beating up, but like his talents are not best used. [SPEAKER_02]: in Arizona. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Falski, I think Falski's I'm just a bit of a slower track just because Midwest guy isn't on if it could be similar to it. [SPEAKER_02]: It would not shock me. [SPEAKER_02]: It would not shock me. [SPEAKER_02]: But you've seen guys go from like Midwest Midwest.

[SPEAKER_02]: Midwest high schools and they're not playing until like March is so their bodies aren't like ready to play ready to play baseball for six months straight. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, definitely. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll see what happens there. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, going to be really exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely keep an eye on on the future stock page and I know Jeff Collins going to be at a number of games and Winston and Kenapolis trying to kind of catch up with the draft guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll have some more interviews already. [SPEAKER_00]: Jane Fouske's out. [SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Odees is out. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have a handful of other ones with with variety of draft picks here in the next few weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: But going to be really cool to see those guys at their respective organizations once or affiliates once they get assigned next week, probably.

[SPEAKER_00]: getting into our kind of our next main segment of the day, what do we want to see in the second half? [SPEAKER_00]: And not even the second half, the last two months here. [SPEAKER_00]: What do we want to see from top guys? [SPEAKER_00]: What are the things that we're looking for heading into next year? [SPEAKER_00]: We're like, okay, that's a tangible adjustment and an improvement.

[SPEAKER_00]: What we've seen this year that we can really build off of and just be excited about going to next year. [SPEAKER_00]: And something we can kind of take from moving forward and see what happens with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, start with Noah Schultz, man. [SPEAKER_00]: He's not healthy right now, working with us a little knee injury. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Schultz make a couple of good starts in Charlotte. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really all it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: And get a couple more earnings under his belt. [SPEAKER_00]: You look at the stats right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Noah Schultz is he's up to sixty eight innings this year between Birmingham and Charlotte. [SPEAKER_00]: A number of really short starts, a number of, you know, this little knee injury now. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it would be amazing to get Schultz over what he threw last year. [SPEAKER_00]: As director, eighty innings and a third this year is at sixty.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you can get another twenty innings this year and again at least match last year's innings total while having some quality games in Charlotte that is all I need to see from Shult I really don't care at the end of the day about what happens in those games in Charlotte.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would just love for him to get another three four plus starts under his belt in Charlotte at the end of the year just to get his body going get that near hundred innings under kind of you know tapped in the season. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for me, it was never about results this year for Shultz. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, you know, you obviously want to perform well and make your box score look as good as possible. [SPEAKER_02]: But, yes, we should play both catchers in the lineup.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure why that's why that's so hard. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that teal and caro are, that's a, that's a tangent for a different episode. [SPEAKER_02]: But in my opinion, Shultz

[SPEAKER_02]: like his stat line this year wasn't gonna matter to me because this is his first year getting stretched out as a starter and there were going to be bumps in the road and you know we've seen some of that but overall I think this season is is a success for shelds because you know he's able to show that he can go deeper on into games and continue to hold that fellow granted he's not throwing ninety eight every pitch like he was when he was only going three four innings but

[SPEAKER_02]: He's shown that he can pitch into the sixth and seventh inning. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, there's a lot of positive signs from this year, from Noah. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, like you said, I think that if you can just get healthy again and throw another four or five starts in Charlotte, that's all I'm looking for. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm with you there. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's getting some more earnings under his belt.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's really what it comes down to. [SPEAKER_00]: Get healthy. [SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see him look healthy, feel healthy, and get some good endings in before the end of the next, before next year, when, you know, we know he's going to be [SPEAKER_00]: competing for a role in Chicago at some point next year, whether it's out of camp or whether it's mid-season, late-season, like he'll be in Chicago next year. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a matter of one.

[SPEAKER_00]: Haking Smith, this one's simple for me, man. [SPEAKER_00]: You gotta see that viola tick back up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know exactly what it is, maybe it's some of the mechanical tweaks, just how I'm working through his body. [SPEAKER_00]: The arm's not being completely right.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is, and the white's have to downplay in any sort of injury, so it seems like it's been kind of the angle of like, oh, we're just [SPEAKER_00]: working on it, working through his bio mechanics, working at his pitch arsenal, and like all that is fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying, you know, it's been a somewhat disappointing season.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that he needs to be, you know, coming out and throwing these gems right now in Birmingham to finish out the year. [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be great, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd love it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I want to say that Velo took back up, man. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been ninety three ninety four since, you know, May or so, and really the majority of the season in Birmingham, he's been in then ninety three to ninety five range.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy who was throwing ninety nine in Arkansas, man. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, you got to see that take back up for his arsenal. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a really be as good as we think he can be. [SPEAKER_00]: And as good as it was projected to be when he was drafted last year, the slider has been less as a little less bite to it than it did in college.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the fastball VLO just has not been where you needed to be for him to be on the type of picture that we hope he can be. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. [SPEAKER_02]: Like the fastball VLO, like consistently being ninety two, ninety three, ninety four, like that, that can't happen for [SPEAKER_02]: a pitcher like Hagan Smith for in order for him to be successful.

[SPEAKER_02]: You have to have that good fastball because if the slider tower man, that's what it is exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And in starts that I've watched, there's a radar gun on the screen, and we can see the live numbers come in. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I've seen him throw a ninety-seven. [SPEAKER_02]: All year, I genuinely don't think I have.

[SPEAKER_02]: And if the case is that he's hurt, and that's why they're limiting his innings, [SPEAKER_02]: sure find that makes sense but like don't don't tell us that you're just working on his biomechanics in Arizona because like to me he hasn't looked healthy all year like and you don't think himself isn't like you don't just simply lose like four miles an hour of velocity just like that like yeah you know there's there's a bit of a switch going into pro ball

[SPEAKER_02]: But this this level of like just taking down across the board. [SPEAKER_02]: It just something isn't right there and I'd like to see him back because when he's on, he's a great pitcher, but there's just something wrong and I'm not sure if it's injury, if it's like mechanical stuff, but we'll see. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'm not sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I think, yeah, I'm not sure if it's something that he's going to need to get surgery.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's just kind of getting his arm healthy. [SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see a couple starts where you really should have to see that stuff pop off the page a little again. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not sure we're going to see it this year, honestly, because it hasn't been there so far. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do think it's possible. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's in there. [SPEAKER_00]: We know it's in there, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the thing for Hagen in terms of when we talk about like, what do we want to see? [SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see him just tick up a little bit more with that below and just see it come back a little. [SPEAKER_00]: We need to talk too much of Colson just because, you know, he's in the bigs already and we're trying to keep this mostly on prospects and I'm kind of just going through the prospect list here. [SPEAKER_00]: Keep what I'm what you're doing man.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of all I'm at. [SPEAKER_00]: Just keep keep doing what you're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: Look a little more comfortable up there and base. [SPEAKER_00]: That'll be great. [SPEAKER_00]: I think if you can kind of just find a little more feel at third, but really like Colson has been impressed if you're out of the gate in Chicago. [SPEAKER_00]: More impressed if I think most people like bats and them to be initially in his big league career.

[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he would be struggling a bit more and you know he's striking out a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a fair clip and I'd like to see him walk a little bit more sure, but honestly like it's been really good so far. [SPEAKER_00]: I just keep doing what you're doing Colson and let's just see more of this for the next two months. [SPEAKER_00]: That'd be great. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's got an eight thirty two OPS right now through his first three weeks of action.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's just if you can continue to do that and ride it out until the end of the year. [SPEAKER_02]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: Just continue to hit hit the occasional home. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even saying occasional home or he went three straight games with a home run. [SPEAKER_02]: Like that's awesome for.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And like we said, Homer did homework today and just continue to do that and just don't look completely overwhelmed at the plate. [SPEAKER_02]: Like there were a lot of times in AAA especially and even earlier on this year where he just looked like he had no chance at the plate. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you could throw him a fastball right down the middle and he would still find a way to pop it up rolling over.

[SPEAKER_02]: But now he looks confident at the plate and he looks like he wants to do damage. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's one of the things that we saw him talk about when he went to Arizona. [SPEAKER_02]: It was just a lot of mental work. [SPEAKER_02]: Like there are going to be games where you go over four. [SPEAKER_02]: You just have to let that, let that game stay that game. [SPEAKER_02]: Don't let it roll over into tomorrow.

[SPEAKER_02]: You just gotta continue to do good things and just have a short memory. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I'm what's either. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's just keep keep getting in his groove, keep doing this thing, keep enjoying the big level. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's made for this. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as a person in personality wise, like he's made for the step moment and he's made for the energy of being a big league player. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's who he is.

[SPEAKER_00]: The person has always been inside of them and he just had his struggles and like that happens, man, like that's that's baseball, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't for him just just keep it up. [SPEAKER_00]: Just keep rolling.

[SPEAKER_00]: uh... next is bread and Montgomery switching to the other month and we talked about his promotional so we can keep this one quick i should want to see the contact rate take up a little that's that's what i would love to see for bread and Montgomery i i think that the at the double a level he's going to be in it in a more picture friendly environment he's already had you know he's running a twenty four percent strike out right this season which is fairly high right i mean it's not too bad but it is a little bit high there uh... in terms of what he's at strike out right wise

[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, the walk rates have been good. [SPEAKER_00]: He's taking his pitches, but it's a sixty. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at a seventy percent overall contact rate this season. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, fifty percent swing rate this season. [SPEAKER_00]: I would like to see that take up if you can finish out the year with any kind of the seventy five to eighty percent contact rate in the next two months and Birmingham.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even if it's that's probably being a little aggressive. [SPEAKER_00]: It's probably going to not be quite that high. [SPEAKER_00]: But even if it's above that seventy mark at a higher level, that would be great to see him make the same if not more contact at the next level.

[SPEAKER_02]: yeah you know there's been a lot of people who have been like impressed by by brain Montgomery and his power this year and you know he'll go on stretches for you know a two week a two week stretch where you know he's batting for fifty and has like a sixteen hundred OPS or something but [SPEAKER_02]: For me, I just want to see him be a more consistent player. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, limit the cold streaks.

[SPEAKER_02]: And like, yeah, obviously, you know, we would want him to be that sixteen hundred OPS hitter. [SPEAKER_02]: But just limit the limit the cold streaks. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm going to say is my thing for him. [SPEAKER_02]: Just be able to [SPEAKER_02]: to just continue at the same rate. [SPEAKER_02]: It's similar to what Colson went through earlier on in the year, where you get into a funk and you can't drag yourself out of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you have one bad game, all right, move on. [SPEAKER_02]: Next game is going to be a better game and tell yourself and repeat that over and over and over again until it happens. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's a lot of the mental side of things, but just limit the bad games and continue to just put up good at best. [SPEAKER_02]: That's all I want to say. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm way through there. [SPEAKER_00]: Next guy up on my list of just kind of going through this list is Caleb Bonner.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Caleb Bonner, you know, nineteen years old, set a very successful first professional season as a after being, you know, second round pick last year. [SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Bonner, just finished out this season, man. [SPEAKER_00]: Just finished out this season. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't need to see much more from Caleb Bonner. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we talked about this pre-recording and I talked with this with some other draft picks up and talking to lately.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's huge adjustment, getting into the vaguely routine and that level. [SPEAKER_00]: And I talked to Caleb about it a couple weeks ago. [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't check out that interview with him. [SPEAKER_00]: He feels great and he's excited, but it's a great. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a whole other level coming from high school ball, and to minor league ball, and especially for him, immediately going to Knapp was not even being in the complex that they're getting in the year.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to take some time. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever he does the rest of the year, even if it is a tick down from what he's been doing this season, I'm not worried about that at all. [SPEAKER_00]: If it's good, great. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a cherry on top, but at the end of the day for him, just stay healthy, finish on the season healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's going to get if he's healthy, he's going to get over a hundred games under his belt this year, which for a high school guy who's in the Midwest is probably never played more than four games in a season. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be incredible. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I'm in the same boat, you know, just stay healthy and continue to just be the same exact player.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I know that he's gone through a bit of a funk in the last month or so, you know, where he hasn't had the best box score like. [SPEAKER_02]: Boxcore stats, but you know, there's a lot to like in Caleb Bonner's game, especially given the fact that you know, he was I want to say unknown coming into the year because he was obviously a top tenish prospect in the white stock system.

[SPEAKER_02]: But if you told me preseason that Caleb Bonner would be a consensus top a hundred prospect and a top five in the white stock system like borderline top five. [SPEAKER_02]: I would have been awesome for me and you know he's smashed every expectation I have for him and just just stay healthy maybe maybe hit first a little bit more power but that's if I'm being like really really really really nitpicky [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going through there, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: The next two guys up, I'm going to combine into one. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's kind of on the same Jackness bottom, our Tana McDougal and Christian opera. [SPEAKER_00]: Just take it easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Control the innings, finish out the year. [SPEAKER_00]: These two have been the biggest breakouts in the plot in the system by far. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, both were kind of not even top thirty kind of honorable mention of the top thirty heading into the year.

[SPEAKER_00]: We knew they were talented young guys, you know, twenty one, twenty years old. [SPEAKER_00]: And it just has been so impressive to watch these two work this season. [SPEAKER_00]: They've both already gotten up multiple levels, right? [SPEAKER_00]: They've already gotten to the next level. [SPEAKER_00]: Vectugal being, you know, and Birmingham in double and now in opera being in high am Winston right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just stay healthy, stay healthy, finish out the year, get these innings. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, right now, you look at Vectugal. [SPEAKER_00]: He is twinnings off of his career high innings in a season, which he got last year. [SPEAKER_00]: And opera is already well above his career high innings. [SPEAKER_00]: He's already had almost sixty innings this season after only throwing thirty eight last year in the complex.

[SPEAKER_00]: If they do go can get over a hundred if you can get into the kind of hundred and five hundred ten innings territory, which he's gonna hit at this point even with crime limited starts and Opera can get it about seventy five innings seventy five innings for your first affiliate in season is already for a guy that is you know pitching me at the success that Opera having to so I'm really pumped about just everything they're doing Yeah, it's it's great stuff so I think that they are both in a really good position and it really comes out and just stay healthy stay the course and finish out the year for them

[SPEAKER_00]: guys. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, stay healthy is just another it's we're going to be saying that a lot for a lot of guys who have had good seasons. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm also going to be nitpicky for upper McDougal just continue to throw strikes. [SPEAKER_02]: Those those two guys have struggled in the past with with command and strike throwing in general.

[SPEAKER_02]: if they can just continue to throw strikes and I'm not asking them to be you know George Kirby levels where you know you're walking like two point five percent of matters but just continue to throw strikes limit the the waste pitches and [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just stay healthy, man, because those two are just such electric arms. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so fun. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so fun to watch. [SPEAKER_00]: So keep them healthy, see what happens.

[SPEAKER_00]: Next up, I want to go to George Walkow here, and we had talked to him briefly earlier, because I think he'll finish in, you know, in when he'll stay in capital, it's probably finished a second year there. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping the next year, it's that bump to Winston, for me to feel comfortable with Walkow heading into Winston next year. [SPEAKER_00]: This might be a little counterintuitive.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see a little of twenty twenty four George wall cow and that might seem a little weird to some people because we want to see him moving forward. [SPEAKER_00]: But I want to see some nukes, man. [SPEAKER_00]: I won't see a couple games this. [SPEAKER_00]: Any already is kind of certain to do so. [SPEAKER_00]: You look at the last ten games for wall cow here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Since the break and this is including, even just, I mean, this is including the one game before the break and actually wasn't a good game. [SPEAKER_00]: Since the break, there are since his last, and his last ten games, particularly, it's a three, forty one, three, seventy two, five, sixty one, particularly since the break. [SPEAKER_00]: He's had a three whole, a three, a three-hit game, a four-hit game, and two two-hit games, and those nine games since the break.

[SPEAKER_00]: a couple of home repair home runs. [SPEAKER_00]: I think three doubles all of that since the all-star break. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're starting to see it, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's starting to kind of show, but I want to see some walk-out just getting into a ballman and just saying screw it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I liked that the approach has gotten better this season. [SPEAKER_00]: It's good to see for sure.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to see him really just lean in all the way to who he is in the power he has and just have some games where he just looks like he's can't be touched. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just want to see him get a ball on the outer third and instead of you know going going into left center for a single like he's been doing the this season and you know it's been great to watch his hit tool jump and take that take that next step.

[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see him go four hundred and thirty feet to left field because I think his [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah like one of his first affiliate ball homers it was four hundred and forty feet to left center like that just that's stupid power and it's just so fun to see when he's when he's on and he's hitting nukes it's such a fun profile but you know it's it hasn't been there this year and

[SPEAKER_02]: for whatever reason, you know, there's a lot for him to learn because, you know, he's still just nineteen years old. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not asking for him to be Aaron Jojo right away, but there's there's tools there that if they're all blended together and everything clicks at the same time, it's so fun and [SPEAKER_02]: I hope that that can happen in the second half of the season, but I'm going to say exactly what you said again, just hit for more power.

[SPEAKER_02]: Just continue to have the good approach, but also start elevating the ball, man. [SPEAKER_02]: Just get into some and put them over the fence. [SPEAKER_00]: And for a little perspective here, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like the contact rate from last year, last year in Canapolis, it was a fifty seven point four percent contact rate. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not good. [SPEAKER_00]: This year, it's sixty seven point eight.

[SPEAKER_00]: So like those are really great strides for him to be making. [SPEAKER_00]: It's still, it's still ten home runs as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as a, as [SPEAKER_00]: But I want to see him lean in a little bit more.

[SPEAKER_00]: They'll just add that upside power. [SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that as walk out develops, and obviously you don't want to push him into this quite yet. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do think leaning into a little bit more of a three to out come type of hitter could be really good for walk out in the future. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I would love to see him walk, you know, thirteen, forty percent of the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: and just hit nukes even if that comes with a thirty thirty one percent strikeout rate as opposed to the twenty seven it's at right now right like I would I would give up a couple percent of that improvement in the strikeout rate to get a little bit more of from him down the stretcher so for him I just I just want some nukes man I want some really nice nukes and then just some some really impressive just off the ball line drives [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, granted, you're not going to be, you're not going to be the three true outcomes guy in single leg. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to continue that all the way up until the MLB. [SPEAKER_02]: And, like, you're going to succeed, that way. [SPEAKER_02]: That's just not going to happen. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, if that's what Wolco ends up turning into at the big league level, sure, that's fine.

[SPEAKER_02]: But, like, right now, I deal with what they're trying to do, sacrificing some of that power for more bats a ball. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, learning the zone, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Learning the zone, everything. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and he's struggled in the in the power department, just because he's not, you know, leaning back on balls and sending him four hundred and fifty feet to right center, which is fine.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, and a certain point, man, you got all this power. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's use it. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm with you, man, for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: The next two guys are another kind of tandem I'm going to do here. [SPEAKER_00]: Highway RTA and Wilhelm and Gonzalez, like big league innings, throw strikes. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I got. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's simple. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's, that's for example.

[SPEAKER_02]: Would you have, would you have paid and Paul that in there, too? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: For sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Why not? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But why not? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're, if you're trading, Dan Altavia, if you're trading, you know, if you're trying to trade like a brand and I certainly maybe, or if you end up trading soon, most of the new cash in on him, like, whoever you trade in the bullpen immediately should be replaced.

[SPEAKER_00]: not by my Clevvenger, no sindigar, and that should be replaced with innings from Gonzales, from Eriarte, from Palette. [SPEAKER_00]: Innings from those guys, the big leagues would be amazing for them, heading its next year. [SPEAKER_00]: You can get a better sense of who your bullpen pieces are moving forward. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just wanted them to throw strikes, man. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really what it comes down to.

[SPEAKER_00]: This season Eriarte, in AAA, it's been, obviously, it makes some starts, but this is his total season numbers. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a twenty-four percent strikeout rate. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a sixteen percent walk rate, and then Gonzales, [SPEAKER_00]: It's in AAA as well. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a twenty percent strike right and an eighteen percent walk rate like. [SPEAKER_00]: Get them up and I want to see more strikes. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really when it comes on to you just got it.

[SPEAKER_00]: You give them the innings. [SPEAKER_00]: You see what happens if they struggle great, but not great, but part of me, if they struggle better if they do great also.

[SPEAKER_00]: cool, but at the end of the day, just get them innings and let's see some more consistent strikes from those guys because I just want to see if they have enough command of the zone to be big league relievers because at this point that they're relievers, it's just about taking that command and making it good enough to survive in a bullpen. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, another good mention in the chat by Jamie Zach Franklin.

[SPEAKER_02]: He absolutely needs to be in the White Talks bullpen down the stretch because you know if like you said if they trade bullpen arms I think those four immediately should slot in and continue and just give you give you innings because I don't want to see Owen White like going the fifth and sixth inning like it just it does does nothing for me another thing oh God voice crack another thing in in the chat Grant Taylor trades what are you thinking about that because in my opinion

[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not. [SPEAKER_02]: This is this is not even his peak value yet. [SPEAKER_02]: You haven't even seen him start. [SPEAKER_02]: Or at least give him a chance. [SPEAKER_00]: It would have to be a really significant overpay. [SPEAKER_00]: Like for me to consider it, it would have to be a team like a Dodgers, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It would be a team that's competing that looks at Grant Taylor and says you're going to be our bullpen dog this year in the playoffs.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we're going to make you a starter. [SPEAKER_00]: and turn you into a Garrett Crochet superstar. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it has to be a team that views him that way. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think very many teams do him that way right now, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like the only way I would look at that trade and consider a trade for Taylor is if he's being viewed as a, you know, superstar reliever for a year and turned into a star pitcher, starting a pitcher, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: That team would have to value him at that type of thing with five years of control in order to trade even close to the necessary requirement where I would consider it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if the whites are getting three top one hundred hitters. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I think any team is doing that for Grant Taylor right now. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if the Dodgers are giving Zayir Hope and Joe Sway to Paula.

[SPEAKER_02]: sure, but they're not they're not going to, but you know, I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I might throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I'd throw a party if that happened.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I'd throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I think I'd throw a party if that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: like negotiated about a deal with them because I don't see any of them. [SPEAKER_02]: There's maybe like four or five teams in the league that could swing a trade for Grant Taylor that would want to even like in this very few teams that would want Grant Taylor and also have the assets to trade for him.

[SPEAKER_02]: So now he's not going anywhere. [SPEAKER_02]: We can all calm down there. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Two more guys to mention, and I'm kind of doing this tandem thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why, but it kind of just makes sense with certain guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Two different guys that actually different discussions here, but William Bergoya and her all Perez.

[SPEAKER_00]: Two guys acquired last year, you know, infielders that are still super young for their level. [SPEAKER_00]: Bergoya playing in AA as a twenty year old, her all who are as playing in high as a nineteen year old, or a twenty year old also this season, both super young. [SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to see from either of these guys? [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's been a solid first full season with the organization for both these guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what are some of the key things with these two infillers that you want to see? [SPEAKER_00]: They'll give you the confidence that they can kind of continue to rise and remain as top twenty prospects in the system. [SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily take a huge jump, but what would be nice to see these next two months to give you kind of the yeah, confidence to keep them at where they're at or move them up even a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: For her all, I think mine would be fine to true defensive home. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, yeah, versatility is great. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, if you're a shortstop, you're gonna, you're a shortstop. [SPEAKER_02]: If you're a second baseman, you're a second baseman. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that he will play a lot of second with the addition of [SPEAKER_02]: the draft guys, Kyle Odees maybe goes straight to Winston.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that if he can just carve out a specific, like, all right, this is my defensive spot. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to play there every single night. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just going to be less on his mind thinking like, all right, so I'm, I'm a third base tonight or I'm at short sub tonight. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just going to, [SPEAKER_02]: build some of that consistency, and I think that'll roll over into the offensive game.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then, yeah, with Brigoya, with Brigoya, I just want to see him hit for more extra base hits. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not asking for homers. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not asking for, like, jack-cagly-owned level of eggs, if he loves more extra base hits, because when he's on, and he's hidden, when he's splitting the gap with line drives, it's a really fun profile. [SPEAKER_02]: He does not swing at me as at all.

[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a lot of singles right now and I think his profile would greatly benefit from him splitting the gap a little bit more and being able to take that extra base. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to be a little more aggressive with that one, then you I need a nuke. [SPEAKER_00]: I need to at least just one more. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, one last year with the Philly's organization, since coming to the white sector, organization, he's played a hundred and ten games.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want one, I want one Homer from from Victoria. [SPEAKER_00]: I just want one one. [SPEAKER_00]: I want one Homer from Victoria and with him, I would really like to see him walk a little bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: because it's a different profile. [SPEAKER_00]: He's such a unique profile and the contact rate is so ridiculously high. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't walk a lot because he's always making contact. [SPEAKER_00]: And the strikeout rate is five percent.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what Tony role is having. [SPEAKER_00]: I probably, it's got to be the best, you know, no, it's the lowest. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the lowest in double area now. [SPEAKER_00]: For a twenty year old, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like that is really impressive. [SPEAKER_00]: You want to take a guess and we're going to go as contact rate as this is an overall contact overall zone, overall contact rate.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's crazy that's a crazy number that's he doesn't with at all. [SPEAKER_00]: It is it's silly. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's not like normal [SPEAKER_00]: I just, you got to get a little more impact. [SPEAKER_00]: And as you're trying to maybe find a little impact in there, you get to walk a little more because the only way he's going to be able to be, you know, a big lead caliber player without power.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's fine, you know, it's zero homers that you're probably not a big leaker, right? [SPEAKER_00]: If you can find five to ten homer power, you can be a big leaker, but you're going to have to walk more for his profile with the stolen base with the speed right, twenty six bags this year. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't strike out at all makes ton of contact.

[SPEAKER_00]: You got to get that walk rate in more of the ten to twelve percent range as opposed to the seven percent range that's been this year. [SPEAKER_00]: So a small note from him there and I roll them with you. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see a world's play second base every day. [SPEAKER_00]: That's where I'm at with him.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him play second base every day lean into that that you know power hitting second base men who can take his walks, but is going to strike out sometimes, but it's going to kind of just [SPEAKER_00]: You know, have his times rematches and be a second basement in and for that position be a really fun offensive power profile, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you see a lot of second base profiles that are hitting twenty twenty five homers, sixteen homeruns are ready at age twenty the season for for her all. [SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see him lean it just be a second basement lean into that power and just become of us power hitting second basement. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that totally makes sense. [SPEAKER_02]: I could see him being that the spark plug of the the Winston offense down the break.

[SPEAKER_02]: And especially now that Brad Montgomery is up in Birmingham, I think a lot of the power in that Winston lineup is going to come from for all Perez. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, yeah, I'm with you, man. [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds great. [SPEAKER_00]: Any other shots you got here for anybody that's really guys I had on my list.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to think of like guys who I'm looking to see more of like you're just like consistency like I'll I'll throw in like a Ryan Galenie like he has he's tapered off since getting the Birmingham but you know it's it's overall been a productive season from Galenie and if he can continue doing the things that he's been doing all season

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here for it and you know if he can start hitting for a little bit more power like he was doing at at the beginning of the season I'm all for it, but you know like we've been saying all episode it's it's a grind man. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's a very very long season and your body can just wear down and you know the homers in in April might not be homers and they might be flyouts in in August. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's some with you [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Awesome shot in the chat here. [SPEAKER_00]: This is when I'm meant to. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Seth Keener Seth Keener the bullpen guy. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see a twenty five plus percent strike out right out of the bullpen from Seth Keener. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be my kind of what I want to see from him in the second half.

[SPEAKER_00]: Seth Keener, if the decision is to transfer him into a bullpen mole, I want to see some nasty stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see the Velo take up a little food notches and I want to see him striking out a lot more batters because the stuff is good enough to strike out a lot of guys for sure.

[SPEAKER_00]: If he's letting it rip for an inning or two spurts and kind of that pellet did last year, right, when you saw pellets start to do those two inning spurts and Birmingham, if he can let it rip for two inning spurts, I think we could see some really, really solid production from Keener out of the bullpen as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that we've been saying it since like essentially the day he got drafted, like they're gonna let him try being a starter for as long as he possibly can. [SPEAKER_02]: But if that day comes where he is shifted into the bullpen, like he has been apparently, we don't, I'm not sure if it's permanent, I don't know if he, if his next outing could be, his next outing could be out of the starting rotation.

[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, we said two outings in a row now into the bullpen. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so he's a reliever now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like that transition happening. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, but it's also funny because that's coming off of by far his best start the season as a six inning one run or one run start in the beginning of the month. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe you know who knows.

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's like a maybe it's a great Taylor situation where they're limiting his innings and this is the best way to do that instead of [SPEAKER_02]: just shutting him down early. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: But either way, I think Seth Keener could be a very good reliever and one that could fly up the system. [SPEAKER_02]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: And as we're talking, call some Montgomery Jives in another run. [SPEAKER_00]: Love to see it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's all I got. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that we will talk next week. [SPEAKER_00]: We actually will talk soon in the next week. [SPEAKER_00]: Today's Monday. [SPEAKER_00]: Also stay tuned. [SPEAKER_00]: We got some cool news coming up. [SPEAKER_00]: We got some real fun news. [SPEAKER_00]: Very fun stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Things. [SPEAKER_00]: We got some things in the works that I'm super fired up about.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have some really exciting news here in another in next handful of days in addition to the deadline. [SPEAKER_00]: So they'll have you covered either Thursday or Friday with a deadline stream as well. [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully some big prospects from back to the organization. [SPEAKER_00]: We will see the guys, the young guys in the system and the young guys in the organization are pretty fired up for the future right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even talking to these draft guys like people people are excited about the future right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And part of that is going to come back at the deadline. [SPEAKER_00]: No, there's not, you know, Kyle Tilbert among every package coming back at any Friday night. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no care crochet trade at the end of this year.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think you're going to see some really fun pieces added and, you know, Dylan now, the all over making sure you guys have all the information you need about the prospects of let's offer again later this week. [SPEAKER_00]: And we will talk to you soon.
