Funny and the Money - podcast cover

Funny and the Money

Funny and the Money brings you a journey of a comedian and an entrepreneur in the process of leaving their "corporate" job to follow their passion. Telling tales of their personal lives, failings, small wins and how the journey is going on a "live" basis. This is not a self-help, preaching type of podcast. More of a public journey of making the jump, following their dream and taking a risk with a splash of comedy, laughs and guest appearances of people going through the same journey.

I don't want your job

We speak with David Powell, Co-Founder of 304 Clothing during this episode. An incredible 10 years has been had by the clothing brand where they've built a recognised fashion name, grown massively, found themselves on Love Island and had their offices and stock burnt to the ground to then start all over again. Yet Dave is on the cusp of becoming a Dad and feeling like he's ready to mellow his work and life balance. Making this a perfect conversation for us at Funny and the Money. Dave started ou...

Extreme Ironing

The next edition of series 2 continues with talking to Oli Hills, Director of Nonsensical, a TikTok Agency. We first came across Oli speaking at an event and he was fascinating during that 20 minute talk. However, getting to know him more during this episode made us realise he's way more fascinating and knowledgable than we first thought. Oli is another great example of someone on this journey we are taking. Nothing is set out the same. Oli came from investment banking originally, then tried his...

It could have broken me

To start off Series 2 we have the delightful Stuart Cope from Yellow Panther. Stuart has enough stories and depth to make this our longest episode so far. He brings so much thought and insight into his own business and his mental health during the last 2 years. He too, has made a jump, but the pace of his growth to outsiders looks amazing and rapid. To him, the anxiety that hits maintaining enough business to ensure his growing team gets paid is enough to draw on experiences of doubt and depress...

The Effing Jump

Episode 6 - The Effing Jump. When starting this podcast, it was all with this point in mind. Making the jump. Sharing it with each other and whoever is listening, and to be really really real about it. Luke and Elliot are the same, but different. They're both going on a journey of following something they are passionate about, but they both look at it differently. Luke has been planning this for years and tells his story of planning up until the point of jumping. Elliot has too, but he is anxiou...

I'll never be able to turn my phone off now

Episode 5 drops with another great guest, and somewhat of an icon for the boys here in the podcast game. Tom Ochoa has become a friend over the last year who is the co-host of The Fozcast with Ben Foster and the Commercial Manager for The CyclingGK . Essentially, he is now in the content creation business, which is a fair move away from a successful and enjoyable role in the corporate world with Heineken. Tom offers some great insight into the real down to earth elements of being involved in the...

Happy little accidents

What an interesting episode we have here for you! Talking to a fellow creative who has already taken the plunge to become an artist. Something we all found hugely satisfying for our guest to say. That guest being Gemma Grao. The conversation flows from her jump, what style her art is, how it triggers people and the topic of feminism, along with some classic Elliot behaviour after a night out with Luke leaves Elliot fuming. Gemma also delivers just the advice we want to hear, whilst we all go a b...

For Nanna T

The third episode of Funny and the Money brings us our first guest - Poppy Valentine Hadkinson, who is a presenter on a TV shopping channel. Poppy is a brilliant, inspirational friend that we loved having on with us. Her background comes from a health trigger, but every day she is doing what she loves, which we admire. She has great stories and loved throwing the banter at Elliot. Something we enjoyed a lot. We may even have her on board again in the future!

Paid for your Soul

Episode 2 of Funny and the Money is called "Paid for your Soul" as taken by a quote directly from Elliot during this chat. If you've watched the first episode you'll know Luke and Elliot are firmly engaged in the Corporate and Sales world where they continue to share their recent and previous stories around this. With Christmas just surpassing there are also dips into how future Christmases may look when they are finally self employed. Luke and Elliot bring you up to date with their latest moves...

Who are ya!?

Episode 1 of Funny and the Money is the perfect introduction to what's to come in this podcast. "Who are ya!?" is the first point on the mocked agenda from Elliot and Luke. Both are sharing their corporate experiences in previous and current job roles. All of which is building towards a point where they are both quitting their jobs and making the jump to following their passion, dream and what they feel they're supposed to do. Elliot is a comedian, Luke has a Video Production company. This isn't...
