Episode description

Buy now, pay later has surged in popularity in recent years. As of 2022, more than 17 million consumers in the UK have used BNPL services. 54% of millennials have used a BNPL service.

This week Ellesheva Kissin, trainee reporter at FTAdviser, talks to Philip Belamant, co-founder of UK BNPL provider Zilch, and Matt Cross of Elmstone Financial Planning, about why more customers are turning to BNPL during the cost of living crisis and how regulators will react.

They also cover the stigma against BNPL, whether it is deserved and whether it is better than the traditional credit market. They also discuss how providers and financial advisers should interact with each other.

The FTAdviser podcast is the podcast for financial advisers, brought to you by FTAdviser. Each week, FTAdviser is joined by guests from the industry to discuss the week in news and pressing industry issues.
