Regina King won an Oscar for best supporting actress at the 91st Academy Awards for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. It was her first Oscar nomination. Regina King played Sharon Rivers, the mother of Tish (lead character). If Beale Street Could Talk was a movie adapted from James Baldwin's 1974 novel.
