This is my Homecoming Mass Homily linking marriage and the University of Louisiana, and how both are built upon vows. For many of us, our perfect utopia, also known as a paradise, is a world where love is free. But I would challenge that notion. I don't think that would be a Utopia at all. I think it would be a nightmare. A true utopia is a place where our actions actually have consequences and our vows actually mean something.
In the wake of all of these scandals, the key to peace lies in remembering the simple gifts God gave us: Food, water, shelter, clothing, etc. No one is more aware of these simple gifts than a child.
