To Bail de Bail is here. Four Finger Discounted. Hello everybody, welcome to the very first mail Bag episode. Here a four Finger Discount mailbag exclusive. Guys laughing because we did a little intro there and guys like, you need to let tap dans He didn't you needn't do it. Probably, I'm like, I'll do it again. Something you didn't do it? Probably.

It's like, this is an exclusive, let me find out. So basically every month and now the final Friday of every month, we're gonna be throwing out this bonus mail bag exclusive as opposed to having Mailbag at the end of every episode. So if you just want to ask us a question, it is Mailbag at four finger discount dot com dot are you send those questions through Also in the patron grip we posted out there as well. So first question

here, Matt Collins, do you like stuff? Depends on whose stuff it is, where they're putting it. Uh, stuff, What's what's your what's in your life right now? What's going on? What's your favorite thing at the moment that what? What are you hooked on? Sleep? Sleep? Yeah, sleeps a big thing. I'm not getting much of it at the moment keeping warm. It's just been hard this week for me in particularly because

a balancing life with kids and whatnot. And we're going on our holiday next week, and you're going to the holiday week after, which means we're recording three weeks worth of content in the space of a week. I'm therefore going to try and edit as much as I can. I'm gonna be editing as well on our holiday, so we're gonna get a holiday. I don't know, that's the thing. So, yeah, Dano's doing all that, and you know, I'm just really exerting a lot of the energy feeling sorry for

him. I feel like lately from you, Oh, I've been seeing a lot of my bad to get a performance review no from you, from your social media post and I feel like in a state of live life to its fullest kind of vibe from you. Yeah, you posted yesterday you realize you have two lives. You have two lives. The second begins when you realize you only have one. Yeah, So I feel like you're in a state of like, I'm gonna start living life to the fullest. Maybe, Like

what's what's going on? Yeah, I don't know. I mean I just sort of came across that palm that resonates. Yeah, because you've mentioned a couple of times on the podcast this week, the whole the new mantra that you have that you're living by. Oh, yes, that being alive is as a special occasion as it gets. Yeah. So you got a nice bottle of whiskey, crack the lid on it, have a sip. Everyone, How have you treated yourself this week? We treat you stuff to McDonald's,

which is unforunately, was not a treat. Yeah that was last week. Yeah, guys had the six months not bad, but you just prevented from from eating it. I will I will not eat McDonald's for a while. Yeah. Oh, last night we took, didn't take. But Elliott had his first school performance, which was great. Yeah, it was just I mean, I'm always proud of all yet, but just seeing him up on stage dancing doing this routine, I'm thinking, Hey, this is an

actual routine. Different moves are different part of the something I think actual choreography and just sort of it sort of didn't just dawn on me, but there was moments while watching him going I created him. This is he's a little it's a little human. It's not just a little baby anymore. He's a human up on stage dancing and performing. I think that's my dude, he sprang from my loins. Yeah, and I will say I will say that if you have the chance, it's to go to your your child's school assemblies

or performances and things like that. Always do it. Never not, because for these are the lessons that Lie Like and other movies have taught us. The last like three months, Ali always has a school assembly on a Monday, and they shifted every second Monday from just in the prep prep room, so the prep class has their own little mini assembly, and then they have a whole school assembly every second week. And I sometimes go to the whole

school assemblies whatever. I've sort of missed the prep ones because my sister picks my not taking the barsom on Monday, so I don't usually go. And then he said to me on Monday morning, can you come to my assembly today? And I thought, oh, yeah, okay. He got to like two thirty. I thought, oh, well I'll go. I'll go check it out. Right. I get there, I'm sitting in the chair at the start. They go and they turn around away to the parents and

allis they all turned around. Alix looked and he saw me there and his eyes lit up, and I thought, that's why you should go. Oh yeah, absolutely. I thought, I will make the effort every Monday now because I can. I just felt bad the last three months he's been turning around waving to everyone else's parents. No good, every other parents. Chard's parents were there. But I just saw the he became a whole new kid. It was like he sat up straight and he smiled and he waved,

and I thought, Okay, I'll make the effort now. Yeah, I mean, it really does make a difference in a lot of ways. Look, I'm not gonna get all daddy wasn't there anything like that. But I mean Bobby when I was growing up, not that he was like, oh I'm not I'm definitely not going to the school things. Yeah, not definitely not going to school things. I mean he had he had a bunch of other shit on. It was hosting television show, and I wally appreciate that.

But I do recall specifically one time that he came to watch me play foot in the afternoon. It was like, yeah, this is this means something. It means something. Yeah, so parents, if you can make the extra effort, Yeah, if you can, but everyone can, but if you can do it. So this is the stuff that we like,

parenthood and aphorisms that you put up on Facebook. But Andrew JP with the first question or the second question, Matt first, Yeah, first, real question, Jesus, do you still enjoy reviewing The Simpsons now that it's getting too point where most people stopped watching? Is it? Is it more fun

to revisit the golden ear episodes with the special guests. Look, I'm gonna say that, Look, it's definitely fun to revisit the classic episodes because I think there are episodes that you and I, if not necessarily grew up on. Remember, Yeah, they really resonate with us. Yeah, they become part of our cultural language, the way we relate to each other, the way we relate to other people. We use it a bit of a punchline. Yeah. We just recorded at Home I Lost Flanders exclusive for Patreon,

which has a lot of fun. Yeah. We did two episodes back to back. Christy gets canceled will be coming up. Yeah. Yeah, And I don't think there was a great deal of difference in the energy, but I think there was a bit of a difference in Oh, we're having a lot of fun talking about oh remember this is in this and oh yeah memes and gags and one liners and guest stars and all that, whereas Weird Season

nineteen. I don't think I think we're enjoying talking about it, but I think we're only enjoying deconstructing it. We're definitely critiquing it or going why would you have this? Why is that? Yeah? How did you have Jack Black in it for only three minutes? Do you think this would work if you transposed this gag into an earlier episode that we call vintage Simpsons. I mean, but you feel like, how could we fix this episode so it

would work now as opposed to then or whatever. I'm sure you could do that with vintage Simpsons, but they're so classic that you feel like you'd be offending everybody. If you tried to deconstruct it, it would feel like that you were taking a part. I was about to say, Gabbo, what's Bobo? Bob? I love the beloved Teddy Bears, Like I'm going to cut him up and make him into a better Teddy Bears. No, No,

he's Bob. Whereas with these episodes, I don't think we're as emotionally invested in them, and I think we can view them with a with a clearer set of eyes and go, this doesn't work, and he is why this kind of works. But I would have done this differently. And I don't think we're being completely negative. I think when we're seeing good stuff,

we're appreciated, appreciating it and giving it its props. Yeah. I just think with the older episodes we appreciate them, and the seasons at nineteen episodes, where as you said, critiquing and deconstructing, yeah, you necessarily feel like you need to with the older ones, but you definitely do with season nineteen. I think so. Yeah, there's a sense of ah this again with some of the gags, and it's just it feels like the vibe of

the show's just getting a bit lazier. Yeah. Back with Classic Simpsons, Injured Simpsons, whatever, it felt like it was setting the pace for just about everything, but also not wanting to compete with anything. It's like we shout a baby, I know, with a best show on TV, but with the Simpsons, we've got our own tone. We'll do things our way and it's not a matter of like, we don't even care if you appreciate.

It's like, no, I think that you're making a show that wants that you want to entertain people with, but at the same time, we're also really entertaining ourselves. Watching say season nineteen, it's like, do you think they like this? Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting anywhere you get the feeling from the people making you think that they'll laugh at this, right, Yeah, well we're gonna do this. We don't care what you think a lot of the time as well. Yeah, that's the other one.

Yeah, Or it's like a disdain for the criticism, Well you don't think it's funny. Yeah, But with the Simpsons, yeah yeah. I find too that when we were reviewing the older episodes, it feels almost impossible to touch on every gag that you see in the show because you'd be there forever. It's like you have to sometimes go, I know it's funny, but

we can't talk about everything. But with the older episodes that we're doing now, it just feels like it's so much filler, And I feel like when we're doing every new episodes in the season nineteen, it feels like we're filling that gap and that void with just banter about whatever. We're going more tangents. We're in the older episodes. You can't really golf on tangents because there's so much to talk about. We're in the newer ones. It's either critique

or go. Yeah, that was kind of funny, and then got from a tangent pretty much. People seem to like they like the tangents. But Andrew JP says he followed up standing appreciate the Dan doing guy going to the teen seasons as open minded as possible, but there's genuine love and nostalgia for the Golden seasons. By comparison and listening to the South Park Pod going down to South Park, check it out if you haven't already, you can.

Definitely all the boys loved doing all the voices as much as reviewing the episodes. Yeah, that's right, Andrew, that's right, Andrew, check out. Honestly, if you don't like South offa still check out going down to South Pike. It's we have so much fun doing that show. We're in season five now, which is just like season four Simpsons, It's unbelievable. If you don't like South Pike, but you do, like Dan dol Guy, definitely check it out. Tellia Enriquez, how would you say your methods

of analysis has evolved throughout your years of reviewing. What do you find yourself focusing on now more than ever? What sort of touched on the previous question where we're definitely trying to improve the episodes now, Yeah, we do go in with an open mind. We don't. There are some podcasts out there that's going and just hate watch, and I've never understood the hate watching. I saw a clip of of Kevin Smith on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, because Jim

Cummings went on his podcast last week, recorded last week. Yeah, so I saw a clip from that podcast where he's talking about He asked him, why don't you really critique things any morning? He goes, I nearly died, like you know, I had a heart attack or whatever it was. And I was fucked up last year like mentally as well. So I sort of realized why I hate watch things. I'm just gonna watch things that I

enjoy and tell everybody why I love it. So I think you've just you've got to go in with a positive mindset or you're just gonna drive you. There is a niche market out there for people who just want to listen to people hate watch the things that they don't like either. I'm sure there's a market for its. Progressing is a big one, right, people always hate watching. I don't want to be that guy. I don't want to be the guy going and this is shit. And this is why we go in

with a try to more constructive criticism. Sometimes reramped me go it annoys me because it feels like it was so much if you just thought about it for a little bit longer, you could have given something a bit better storyline wise. But a lot of the time we go into this going, look, we get it. You know, season nineteen there's going to be it's not gonna be as good as season four. But we still try to critique it in a way that feels somewhat constructive. The word criticism, I mean,

it's not necessarily sledging. People tend to think that, you know, oh, you're being so critical, that that's a shorthand for just oh you hate it. Critic Criticism is critical thinking. It's analysis. You know, you're trying to understand what works and what doesn't, and then express that I don't know, maybe back in the day, when there was say a lot less content around, it would be valuable to get. This is why this doesn't

work. This is why you shouldn't be spending your hard earned money on this and maybe wait for it to come to television or come to video or whatever. Particularly you're talking about movies. Now, there's just so much stuff that yeah, it's it's I want to say it's easier for people, but it is. Man, well it is to say, Look, I think I'm just gonna focus on what's good out there because there's so much stuff. It's

like if I'm not mentioning something that means don't don't waste your time. Well, the thing is I've never got You see comments online fandom is just a shit show these days, but you often see it, really is it. It's kind of fucking depressing. You see comments going I can't wait to hear someone so round about this. Why why why do you find somebody's joy? I mean, do what you want, but how do you find joy out as watching I can't hear this person ship on something that I don't like either,

just don't watch it, don't. I don't mind that every once in a while. I mean I I we sent me there, I sent down to a link last night to someone who really took issue with the documentary? Is it the problem with that poo? They took issue, but they everything they broke down was right, like it all made sense what they were breaking down. Oh you mean the person who made the video? Yeah? Right, yeah, what what they was saying? You can't watch that video and

go, oh, you're wrong. It's like, well, they're pretty spot on, and also they're really funny with it. I had no idea who this woman was beforehand, but she just came up in algorithm. Okay, this sounds kind of interally, and she just went to down. It was really entertaining. Now, at the same time, you've got a lot of people who I don't think the current term is your as grifters, that's definitely the thing, who are saying going to make a buck somehow, right?

Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not going to know names, but you know, invariably you go through YouTube, you're gonna find work question mark on their on their thumbnails or whatever. And yeah, they're taking issue with just about everything, and for particular reasons. People love it, and some people love that. I mean, I'm almost I can't call it lazy because clearly some effort has gone into it. But at the same time, it's not

lazy in effort, but it is a little bit lazy in thinking. Yeah, I mean, I it's not it's not criticism, it's that that's just quote unquote criticism. I will say that I truly believe that when you and I go off on a tangent rant wise with the show now with the Simpsons, it's for a reason. And I think if anyone who listens to the show would probably agree to the most part with what we're saying, I would like to hope. So, I mean, you know, we're like your

parents in that regard. We're not man, we're just disappointed. Yeah, and I will very rarely get properly angry at the show. Well, I think there's a reason that, you know, our friends and patrons, Oh it's another Simpsons Safari or so you know that's the gold stand for you. Oh is he gonna find it like that? That was a few episodes. I mean that was like how many seasons ago? Was that seventeen Citi Safari? Yeah? Thirteen? Yeah, it's like five seasons ago. Okay,

I've lost all track of Let's have a look. And that's the problem with the Simpsons teen era. It just feels like an all one big blur, doesn't it. Yeah, Simpsons Safaris have a look, But we're going back. There was season twelve episodes seventeen, so now we're going back that far. That was like four years ago. I yeah, I thought of that. Yeah, and that's sort of like my standup for like, oh God, did not like that. I wonder if it's going to be like that

again. I mean, clearly, I haven't been too angry at too much in the in the interim, and I don't think you have either. I think I for me, my Simpsons Afari is one Way Home was drunk? Oh yeah, what was it? Codependence Day? Yes, yeah, it was like that. You really did not like that at all? Okay, next question, let's get to our next question here comes from Alissa Catherine Alyssa says, are there any Simpsons phrases you find yourself saying? Completely out of

content? Next? I very often find myself randomly singing comic book Guy's Little Song from They Save Lisa's Brain. I am smart, much smarter than you. Your burnt. Any Simpsons lines that you say added context, I say, just gonna put my shoes on. Nearly every time Nichola says that you're ready, that's in context. Out of context, not too sure. I think anytime I'll open like a new pack of tortillas and it's got their little moisture absorbed, some things in there. Yeah, every time I see one

of those that like it falls out of the bag. So because of me, they have a warning. No one else in the house, or you know, when I go into the anytime I go into the car park at Coles, the one in Shannon Avenue, which is just the worst design car park. It's horrific. It's terrible. It's like it was designed a fucking mc yeah shaw. Most car parks of ship though, Oh yeah. The one further down the road in Shannon Aving in the corner of Shannon Abydeen just

as bad. But it feels like listeners that basically they built the coals and went, oh shit, we could book car parks as well. Quick find space somewhere. Everyone goes across the street and parks at Aldi, which is

a much better designed car park. But anytime I park in there and I get out, and I sort of like I'm in the lines, you know, like I go tell your mom every time, go tell your mama sull hear about this, but just checking out, like I'm not a dreadful Parker, and you know, I'm making sure that I'm coloring inside the lines. I'm inside of the lines. I like it. Tell them up. I do say yes a lot as well, mean grats probably in context, but yeah, but what was that? What already whatever said the word? Yes?

Yes? And I think I've had occasions when i think I've done something really well that I'll just pull the old open door and go, I'm a triple threat. You do say triple threat at yeah, by apologies to everyone listening. Keith Adam, How does Keith for a while? Have we get him? Keith Adam? Yes, how does it feel to be the kings of Australia. I'm thinking of something like this and he's put a gift of solid gold, Homer. We are not the Kings of Australia. That's that's

King Charles, sort of the kings of this household. Yes we are. We are merely serfs to the queens in our life. Yes we are, indeed, James Daniel, But thanks man, that's a real nazogo boost absolutely cracked. Question from a Tasmanian migrating to your neck of the woods. What advantages does Geelong have over say Melbourne, which I could also afford, depends what you like. Do you like city life because yeah? Or do you like regional city life because I mean Geelong's a city. Yeah, it's the

city greater Gelong. It actually says that in the council lamp there's definitely growing. Now if you city on the ground, do you prefer If you prefer to go to a cafe and just sort of have a coffee and not have to drive and to sort of get here, there and everywhere and have that city lifestyle, then Melbourne's for you. But if you like to got packer,

we've got We've got plenty of cafes in Geelong. But if youre also like the beach life as well, and just more freedom to not have to feel like you it's just the the it's the amount of people in Melbourne that gets me on this. It's just people everywhere all the time. You don't feel like you can go down anywhere without being surrounded by a bunch by a mob of people. So if you don't like people, I would go to

Geelong. Yeah. My line has always been, and I've probably said this in the past on the show, Geelong has everything you need and anything you want is not far away. Yeah, yeah, I mean everything you need is in Geelong in terms of like there's good eateries, a good sort of social scene, a bit of a cultural kind of thing. It's got. It's got everything you need in that regard. And if you want a little bit more then yeah, Melbourne is less than an hour away depending on the

traffic. And yeah, as Danna said, we got got the surf coast, got beaches. People are saying that Geelong's gone to shit, but I honestly feel like Gelong right now is at that point where you know it seems to go city on the grow. It feels like we're growing right again. That's not a phrase that I also a city on the grow. Every city has its shit aspects, right, it really does. Now. It feels like we're in a transitional face. It feels like there is a bit of

development going on. Certainly in the in the CBD, there has been knocking that shit down and rebuilding it. A bit of proper development going on. Hopefully they're able to figure out something to do with it. It's not just a matter of realizing that Geelong's it's not just Geelong, it's the whole nature of commerce has changed as well. There's a lot less need for bricks and mortar kind of shops, which is unfortunately. I mean I like the shopping.

I like going in and just holding it in my hand. First. Yeah, but I think it's going to become a bit more boutique. But if you want that, in Geelong, we've got Packing the Street which is full of great shops and boutiques and cafes and all that kind of business. The city not so much. But it's Packing the closest to a Melbourne sort of cafe style street. Absolutely. Yeah, but the city is hopefully making a bit of a comeback in the regard. So James by means, come

to Geelong will make you more than welcome. You know what it does have over Melbourne, Guy and Dando, that is good. We'll buy you a coffee, we'll lend your money for a coffee, and we'll make your parents way out the front of two hours, poor old Katieg's folks. But ask Katieg she I think she had a nice time which game to Geelong? Yeah, Gelong is has a bad rap. I think a lot of the bad rap is just from a reputation exists of twenty years ago. It's also from

people who live in Geelong. Yes, you know, you only hurt the

ones you love. As a question, we're gonna have to go listen to other podcasts. It's just yeah, Harrison Appleby is actually clever. Good on Harrison Appleby, do you have w riz? I'm down with what the kids are saying these days. I'm assuming this means winner's charisma. I don't know. I'm not down with the

kids. That's lost on me. Riz is short for charisma. Okay, the best of my understanding, let's google w whiz whiz w rizz This how wiz means something? I'm so old I have to google what slaying is now streaming on Twitch? Seeing that would use the term riz and development of other phrases such as w rizz to describe a person's winning or losing abilities of attracting

or chatting up potential love interest. Oh so this well, Dan and I have already, you know, just got happily married of Bush three Pointersteen. It's happy married of eleven years, two kids. Nicholas seems still content. The lovely Lewis and I've been together for five and a half years. Did you have a good game when you were younger? Though? Good game when they came to China flat with girls and that kind of thing. Apparently I could be quite charming, I seem to have. I'm one of those guys

who was oblivious so so many girls to friends of the past. Since being married, nickol have gone, I was like hot for you. I had to think to you, and you just never made a move. And I was like, oh yeah, I'm talking about want to say, a bunch of girls, but I'm thinking like at least ten girls of the past of going if you wanted me, you could have had me. And like you

just never made a move. I was like, oh shit, Oh yeah, the girl that I had a major crush on in high school years years later, I always thought you were cute, but you know you you were just too too perfect, well not too perfect, but too good to be two sort of like that. And they always they always say to me, I just really thought you were interested because you never made a move, or she thought that I was sort of out of a league or something. I'm

like, what go you had your damn adam my league? Have you seen? But as me as I tend to say, like, I'm terrible engaging. If anyone has any interest in me romantically or sex, you would have to strip naked. Well, I remember there's one there is one girl, another girl called Katie. She was like, I don't think I could have been any more obvious. Well, or what you to do was take your shirt off and touch me. Otherwise I had no idea. I just I

just go out and have a good time. I picked up girls and whatnot. But I just saw a lot of my girlfriends as just my friends. And I'm like, oh, they never gonna be interested in me. I just never saw them that way. But they go we DAEs with all the time because we want to go in with you. I'm like, oh shit. So I guess the answer is, yes, we had w rizz, but we had the ability to. I just never took full advantage of it.

I guess you could say unconsciously we had w rizz. Yeah. Yeah, these days we don't need it all right, Next question, it's on hold, it's on pause, Sam Noddy Bennett. What's a diorama? Okay, so how would you describe a diorama? Let's take this somewhat witty banter and turn it into an actual question. Well, so it's an art project, a diorama. So basically it's just, yeah, you're making a scene in physical form. Did you ever make dioramas in three dimensional physical form?

Did you ever make dioramas? Never? Do? It feels like you watch American shows. It feels like the diorama contest seems to be a regular yeah. The thing that I remember in sort of semi in relation to this was back in grade six, we were given this. You had like a big project every term, and this one was you had to do like a three dimensional map of it, not a three dimensional but a map of Australia sort of using plaster. And it was to terrifying. It was tough, man.

And then you know, it was one where you had to bring your parents in and all that kind of shit. Mine was ugly as hell, geographically completely inaccurate. Uh. And I've forgotten who did this one, but someone brought on in them that was like, holy shit, you did not make that? Yeah? Did you not? Even did your parents help you? Did you outsource that? Shit? It's fucking professional and there's no need

for it, isn't it. I feel like if I was a tea shirt, I would go, you're gonna lose points because this is too good. I know you're fucking you're twelve. You didn't make this. I can vividly see it in my mind's eyes, like, holy shit, that's good. Yeah, mine was ugliest sin. It's not about what it looks like. No, No, I was exactly what it looks like. I was I was Lisa with foam, rubber and an orange. You're a monster. I was a monster. You went Florida. Yeah, is that a state?

Jack McCarthy, what's your favorite lizard? Oh? I think they go to for kids in Australia is either the blue tongue lizard or the frill neck lizard. I've never seen a frill neck lizard. No, with its frills out at least anyway. It would be like saying the loss of raptor. Someone sayurus Delosaurus, the one in Joicy part Delfasaurus with the frill neck that spits in Nidis. Always you said a loss of raptor. I was mixing up my day, Yes, mixed up my Dana thought it. Yes, my

favorite lizard. Does Kimmodo dragon fall under the they're terri fine, Yeah, apparently they're. They they eat people what you can't get away, and they climb trees, they swim. Also just a history's greatest monster, but they're more terrified than hippos. They can climb trees, for get Jimmy Carter. Yeah, the Kimmodo dragon history is great monster. Also just badass name. Yeah, Kimodo drag Kimoo. What the yeah, the commodos coming. I

went to the word Zoo recently. Yes, And there's hippos in the water and you can see behind the glass and I'm looking at this thing going. You argue with the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life. You know, you see videos of them chasing boats. Oh yeah, they're so fast. Imagine making one of those boats. It's like the boats with a fan on the back, and there's a hippo chasing after you. I would shit my pants. Yeah. I saw a video of the day of two lines

enjoying some nice time in the water. All of a sudden, hippo. Yeah, and they run. Simba is terrified. Yeah, faster, faster, faster, shot hits the hits the bricks man. Yeah, it's yeah, Hippos are terrifying. Also, not a lizard, but our favorite lizards. Well, Dano is very far from the frill neck and I like a Komodo drake. Yes, Philip Hawkins, what's your favorite appearance by a Simpsons cast member in a film? My go to is always Dan Castlenetta in Space

Jam Michael is killing us. I also enjoy the three members in Godzilla. You get Nancy, Harry, and and Hank and Hank's iconic, the iconic moment of the foot very much. So, yeah, introducing all the trailers and gosh, look, Harry. She has done so much great stuff. I really dig him in The Truman Show where he's the of course, yeah, uh huh uh huh huh, fantastic. He's also in Airheads, isn't

he? I believe so, isn't he one of the djas. It's Airhead where he goes uh huh uh huh because he's getting the songs ready and they're in the room with him. John is in the ads as well. I like Hank get a lot of stuff. I really are Julie Cabnet in a lot of movies. I don't know any that she's in what he's done a few Woody Allen movies which I thought she was really good. Found that in the world, So that's correct cancelation. What else has she been in?

But I feel like she wasn't in anything big post nineties? Really was she nine? She was in a movie called This Is My Life that was done by I was directed by Nora Efron, who wrote When Harry Met Sally and directed Sleepless in Seattle. I think it's got the fron name on it, and I think she's it's a bit like it's a bit of a precursor, like the Marvelous Missus Maizel. I think she's playing like a stand up comedian. And I only vaguely remember it, but I just remember thinking, Hey,

they have Julie Cavill like a lead role. I'm gonna be out some of her films or National Lampoon's movie Madness, Bad Medicine, Hannah and her sister's Radio. Well that's what Allen. You haven't Yeah, and oh yeah, she's the she's the mum in in Radio Day Surrender, New York Stories, Awakenings, Alice Awakening. She's really good. Yeah, Awakenings is lovely. Have you ever seen that? No, that's Robert Nero and Robin Williams and based on this true story. Yeah, yeah, about there was this,

damn it. I forgot the technical. We're gonna say brain doctor, yeah, uh, neurologist and named Oliver Sacks. And he was a drip. He was drink doctor and a very interesting character. And he did some research where you had these people who had I was locked in syndrome, but they were basically catatonic but sort of not lying down in a coma. But yeah, they were unresponsive and did some kind of drugs where it woke this

guy up. And Robert de Niro plays the guy who's basically been incapacitating on his life and he wakes up and it's like and Julie cap and mean roile. Robin Wims is the doctor and he's kind of a bit repressed. Julie cavn' is the nurse who likes him, but he can't really make a move on. They've got this really sweet love story. It's very, very nice. Julie cavn is fantastic. Awakenings. Awakenings. Oh, I hate it when there are movies that you know are good but you forget exist. And

that's one of them. Awakenings. You've sold me on it, but you saw me when he said to Nero and fucking yeah Williams, holy shit, it's funny. I mean, yeah, it's a movie that it was just post dead Poets Society for wrong Williams. So he was on a bit of a run of doing dramatic stuff. Yeah, he had Yeah, late eighties, early nineties, he was, Yeah, I had a really good run. All right, final question here from the patrons favorite lesser known Australian creature.

Lesser known. Everyone knows about the spiders, right or the dangerous ship snakes, koalas EMUs, kangaroos. Do people know about the bilbie? No? Maybe not the quackerer. Everyone knows that quacker because it's always so happy. It's a selfie animal. Yeah, yeah, n Maybe the platypus is well known, of course, but I don't think people know that the platypus is exactually venomous. No ship, is it really? I believe. So

I'm about to take kids to see some platypuses. We've going up to a holiday dad, and I was going to the Hillsville Sanctuary, a good place. Yeah, don't let the kids hold the platypus, however, but I'm pretty sure. Let's just do a quick bit of giggling the platypus. You looked at it, and you go it almost looks like a mistake. Oh yeah, very much. Designed by committee. Platypus poison, Where does it

come from? Their feet? The platypus is one of the few living mammals to produce venom not the Tom Hardy movie the venom has made the venom glands. Funnily enough, they are connected to hollow spurs on their hind legs. Sometimes I must have known it was primarily made during the mating season. I don't know. While the venoms effects are described, is extremely painful. Sorry, let me do that again. I want to do it in Bain voice.

The venoms effects are described, is extremely powerful for you or you it is not lethal to humans. Thank you for asking that question so I could do a Bane impersonation. Do you think they look back and they regret having him do that voice? I don't think they regretted at all. Over When I first watched the movie, because I didn't watch any trailers, were in blind and when he started speaking that way, get the fuck out of here, I thought it was fantastic. I thought it was such a great choice.

Any Tom Hardy voice choice, I reckon, They're always great. I know. I was just seeing Bain as just this monster. O you, that's fantastic. It's so unexpected. I'm not laughing at it, It just it just caught me off. Go. Yeah, there's there's a video going around with him and Andy Serkis, and someone asked him about what's the inspiration of the Bain voice? And there was like some bare knuckle boxer. It was like a romany gypsy or something like that, and it's like, oh,

I drew inspiration from him. And then they played the guy's voice like that didn't really sound like you're bane, though he's got the cadence is a bit late. The thing about is get into a fight and do some boxing. Yeah, that sounds more like the guy from Showgun and all honesty. But yeah, you can see he took it and just ram with it. But oh, I love that. It would have been great if that wasn't. Actually Tom Hardy was like Christopher Nolan just did a dub letter on just

you Now kids got punked Tom No Learner. That's just a great line though, And I bet I think the for you one, yeah they take that off, will you Die would very extremely preparing for you're a big guy for you all? And then you were just the uh what did someone say? It's like it's the voice you expect from a cartoon warris. I'm wearing a torop hat stage left. Oh love doing the Bain voice. Stop me from doing it? Though? What was I can't remember platypus, Yeah, platypus.

But I feel like people know about platypus. Maybe they don't. It's Kyla and kangaroo and emy kiler and kangaroo still a line like don't they Yeah, I think they tend to be the ones that, yeah, people know about it. At the same time, there's always a bit of surprise to it that you know, Kohilas are just high all the time because oh they're so gentle and fluffy, like they're stone yeah, or kangaroos are just buff alpha dudes who like to get on the the videos of get on the yeah,

yeah, like real chats. Yeah, just showing off those tops of the small You wouldn't be surprised they had like a tattoo of the Southern Cross. So, I mean, I always won that interesting about Australian pauner. Yeah, there's a bit more going underneath the underneath the surface. All right, Well that'll do for the first of a mailbak.
