In 2008, I graduated the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army with 972 other cadets. The difference between me and them is that while the majority of them were sent to war, I went to the NFL. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was about to fight my own battle—in my own inner war—and it almost cost me my life.
