Episode description

From Baseball Isn't Boring (subscribe here), many thought that Cubs manager Craig Counsell's $8 million-a-year deal with Chicago was going to make managers' salaries skyrocket. Since then, however, the closest anyone has come is Red Sox manager Alex Cora's deal, which pays him just more than $7 million per season. Other than that, there isn't a manager who makes as much as $5 million annually. With the likes of the Dodgers' Dave Roberts and the Yankees' Aaron Boone heading into the final years of their deals, will there be someone who eclipses Counsell's salary soon or will that agreement remain an outlier? Rob Bradford catches up with longtime baseball writer and author Scott Miller to tackle the topic.
