Story Transcript:

En: Miriam, an amazing woman in her thirties, stood outside facing the climate research station in Antarctica.

En: Cold winds blew around her, and the late summer sun was just starting to disappear over the horizon.

En: She took a deep breath, thinking about home in Israel, about the family and holidays she so dearly missed.

En: Though Miriam was far from the coastal plain she knew so well, she thought about the upcoming Rosh Hashanah.

En: This year she felt the need to connect to her roots, even though she was in this frozen land, thousands of kilometers from her home.

En: But there were no apples, and no honey at the station.

En: Inside the station, unlike the cold and sad atmosphere outside, it was warm and pleasant.

En: There were David and Rachel, her research partners.

En: David had recently been in their distant country, but Rachel had never experienced Jewish traditions.

En: Miriam knew she wanted to create something special with them.

En: "Today is Rosh Hashanah," she said as soon as she entered the room.

En: "It's a time for celebration and renewal.

En: Maybe we can celebrate together."

En: "What do we need to do?"

En: asked David with interest.

En: Miriam looked around for the available ingredients.

En: She found oranges and a little sugar.

En: "We can make orange marmalade," she suggested with a smile.

En: "Like apples in honey."

En: That evening, the station was filled with the scents of oranges and sugar, memories and tranquility.

En: Miriam explained to David and Rachel the meaning of Rosh Hashanah, about a new year full of hope and success.

En: They laughed, shared stories, and deepened their bonds.

En: By the end of the evening, as the small celebration was wrapping up, Miriam felt something new.

En: Although she was far from home, she discovered that within these moments, within the friendship and human warmth, she had found a new home.

En: The station, despite being a place of cold and simplicity, gave her the feeling that she was welcomed, that she belonged.

En: There, in the distant Antarctica, Miriam understood that the meaning of faith and tradition is not only in familiar places with people dear to your heart, but also in the ability to share and connect with anyone willing to listen.
