hey guys welcome back to Fitness tested I'm Hayden and I'm Jacob and today we're reviewing the new Brooks Glycerin 22 and the glycerin DTS [Music] 22 okay so what are what are some things you're noticing on the on the run so something that I'm noticing so I've gone on a few runs with these um great shoe I would say it's super bouncy it's got the same foam it's got the uh DNA DNA tune DNA tune it's got the DNA tune foam which is the same as the new Brooks glyer Max so I'd say it's really fun to
run in cuz the foam is just super bouncy um I would say they made the upper a little bit thicker and a little heavier which is where that extra 5 O and the new shoe comes in I wouldn't say it's a bad thing it I'd say locking a bit better and it's still breathable with these um with the breath like with the things up here um I would say it's still breathable uh what am I trying to say what are these things little bubbles bubl air vents I would say it's still breathable with
these little air vents up in the upper so I think that's honestly fine but mostly the thing that I noticed the most is that it's just super fun to run in I would say it reminds me a lot of like a new bounds 880 um or even like a 1080 not as bouncy as a 1080 but still um Hoka Clifton's also a shoe that I think of so yeah overall I think they did a good job with the update um yeah yeah yeah I noticed there I'm not sure if he knows too but from the previous version
the the 21s I feel like it's a little bit wider toebox I feel like it's a slightly more lock down feel which feels like a lot better for running compared to you know I think the 21's gauge a little better towards casual use with like the nice wide toe boox like a wider base mhm but these feel like more ready to roll for the runs just like a more locked in feel and I would say if you do like a shoe with a little bit more toe space I would say sizing up is maybe an
option for you but I would say the best thing is is to come into Fitness Sports and try on um to see if you need that extra half size up so yeah yeah for sure yeah and yeah with this DNA tuned um cuz I've also run in the glyer and Max they feel it feels the same but different in these um so kind of how Brooks gives a rundown on DNA tuned they have um they're like larger cells in the heels for that more cushion L the heel and the smaller cells the the smaller cells just
like for the springy takeoff as you're running and overall it feels very similar to gling mat um but just like more the lightweight feel so you feel like you're not being like weighed down you know more the quick sand Vibe so that like bulky gler Max this feels a lot better for you know picking up the pace 30 runs but still nice cushy Landing of a glycerin you know for those long runs I agree yeah I think one thing I noticed with the the GTS is that it's definitely a lot
stiffer in the heel um with that obviously their coveted guide rail right here it's just going to make it a little stiffer in the heel which is kind of what you get with the stability shoe so yeah which these shoes they they both they both look exactly the same to you right now but yeah the the key detail is the guide rail there so that's how you know it's going to be more the support shoe for if you more pronate your ankle Dives inwards when you're running so if
you a more person that's like very instable when you're running you want to go with the guide rail version the GTS and that'll make a big difference for you just supporting you throughout your run so overall with the new glycerins we've got very good rubber coverage here on the bottom um we haven't got to get a lot of miles in our shoes yet so we're not sure um you know how the tread is going to hold up once you get to that uh 400 mile range even up to 500 which you
should be able to get out of Max cushion shoe a lot of time uh especially if you have a a running shoe rotation but overall you know some of the wet more wet icy conditions um haven't been slipping around so it feels good with all that rubber coverage so what's this new heel collar here that they put in the shoe yeah they got this new little pole tab at the back which I'm really enjoying um I I've seen this in another shoe of my rotation the GEL Nimbus they have that same little heel collar the
back with the pole Tab and the nice cushy heel there okay um so I I really enjoyed that aspect of it I think they improved um the heel counter a lot from the previous version I'm really enjoying that aspect of the shoe yeah yeah any thoughts your side no I I mean I I like that kind of add its uh cushion uh behind the heel I think I think it locks it down a bit more for me which I like so no no heel slippage for you yeah yeah that that's kind of the main thing that
I got from it so so what do you think you'd use the glycerin there for what type of runs would you use it for Hayden I think they're perfect for easy runs for anything that you're moving pretty slow for I think also these shoes would be great for a run where maybe you want to pick up a little bit and you want to go a little faster I think for a general like I want to go really slow this shoe's great for that it's going to do well but I think maybe an easy run where
you're feeling all right and you want to pick it up at the end the shoe is going to give you the energy return that you do need for that that added pace so I think that shoe would be great I would I would say probably on the slower side of a Tempo or like a workout or speed workout um but I would say like for easy runs and anything kind of like picking up a little bit the shoe's perfect for that so yeah and I think I agree with you there um it is uh much better for
those easier days just like a nice comfortable fit yeah in the upper so comfort's key when it comes to your running shoes and a good cushion Landing with the new DNA tuned mhm and yeah it it can you know go towards those temper runs you know but it's more going to be on the slower end of those Tempo days or the intervals you're not going to be able to pick it up to your full speed you'd want to another pair of shoes I will rotation so yeah I will say so the the upgraded version of this model is
the new Brooks Glycerin Max and I would say that's a great shoe for easy runs for speed workouts for tempos I would say if you're not wanting to spend $200 and you'd rather get a $165 shoe this is a great shoe for that um it's going to be I would say it can do almost everything that gcer and Max can just a little bit less so I think if you're wanting just a cheaper um allaround shoe for you this is a perfect perfect option for you so the glycerin and glycerin GTS
they work super well for running and we feel like um with the new foam and some of the upgrades in the upper uh made it even better for running but also they've still got that nice cushion comfortable feel for or um for daily use you know whether you're a medical worker you know a job where you're on hard concrete this is nice and cushioned and U especially with GTS model supportive just being on your feet U your feet won't be so tired at the end of day won't have any those
foot pains so it work super well for that area so overall there were some uh very good changes to the shoe uh they updated from the DNA Loft the DNA tune which is very responsive um a more locked in feel with new upper especially with that heel collar in the back very good they did keep the heel tow drop the same in these also with the same stack height um 10 mm with 38 in the heel 28 in the 4ot um yep the added I'd say lock down cushion upper added a little bit
more weight to the shoe so added half an ounce but other than that still the GL the great glycerin and glycerin GTS that you guys have been running in this was Fitness tested I'm Hayden I'm Jacob and this is the Gin GTS 22 this this is the new glycerin 22 thank you guys for watching make sure to like comment and smash that subscribe button and we'll see you guys in the next review [Music]
