Love is Tough

On Super Bowl Sunday and in the middle of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the word “tough” fits well with our scriptures. Athletes in each of the sports represented from across the world are tough. Their workout disciplines, their physicality, their stamina and their overall ability each embodies the very best of human of toughness. For our scriptures today, especially Jesus’ words in Luke 6, toughness takes on a nuanced double meaning. Love is tough in the same way these athletes characterize toughness. It is also tough because it’s hard. In our sermon for today, Dr. Jordan shares several biblical warnings and reasons for why love can be extremely difficult.
