Bio: Carlos Gemmell is co-founder & CTO at Malted AI, a VC backed startup building distilled LLM solutions for enterprises. Previously he worked at Meta FAIR labs working alongside the Llama 2 and CodeLlama teams, focusing on teaching LLMs to use tools through synthetic data. He is also a Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow, supervised by Jeff Dalton, working on tool reasoning for language models. Carlos led the winning multi-million dollar Amazon Alexa Prize TaskBot team as one of 125+ global AI teams, scaling practical applications of large language models to 10,000+ users across the US. His work is published at EMNLP, SIGIR and has delivered talks at Stanford University.
