Episode description

Thank you so much for listening to today’s episode. We are talking about baby sleep on this Daylight Savings Time morning! Our guest today is Erin Junker, she is a mom, sleep consultant and host of the Sleep Cues podcast.

Erin is passionate about children’s sleep. She firmly believes that a well-rested family is a happier, healthier family. She is committed to working with tired parents to help them help their little ones get the healthy rest they need – that means getting amazing, uninterrupted nighttime sleep, and taking proper, restful naps, all within a supportive and guided two-week program!

In today’s episode we are focusing on one of the most common baby sleep issues: early morning wake-ups.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • What defines an early morning wake-up: anytime your baby/toddler wakes up before 6am
  • Solutions for early morning wake-ups:
    • Pay attention to awake windows and only allow your baby to be awake for the appropriate amount of time for their age
    • If your child relies on sleep props/crutches to fall asleep try to wean them off of them
    • Sleep environment: make sure the room is very dark for both naps and nighttime sleep and use a sound machine
    • Don’t start your day before 6am
