Episode description

This week, Danny and Sam review two films about the tribulations of adolescence. The musical coming-of-age story Sing Street shows that poverty, family dysfunction and mean priests can be overcome by the power of love and wonderfully synthy pop music; in the Turkish family drama Mustang, synthy music is in woefully short supply for five orphaned sisters kept cooped up by their ultra-patriarchal uncle. Plus: I tell Danny he CANNOT BE SERIOUS about Shia LaBoeuf's latest role; we also wonder whether those skeptical about the new Ghostbusters movie are slightly sexist or massively sexist; and we suggest replacing Daniel Craig's Bond with the obvious choice, Brad Pitt as a Benjamin-Button-esque old man baby.
