Episode description

A record number of Americans have left their jobs over the last 18 months, and the high demand for workers as the economy transitions out of a pandemic have sent wages soaring.

For farmers, this has meant having to get creative and savvy about finding, recruiting, and retaining top performers in order to keep their businesses operating.

This week, we’re joined by Lori Culler, DTN farm business advisor and the founder of AgHires, an online job board and recruiting firm dedicated to the agriculture industry. AgHires offers job postings, sourcing and full contingency recruitment for farms and agribusinesses. Lori offers some invaluable insight on the origins of the current labor shortage, and offers useful advise on how to think about all things ag labor in these challenging times.

We’ll discuss calculating compensation, how to think about return on investment for employee hours, strategies for crafting positions, and how to become an excellent trainer.
