Episode description

As farmers across the country get into the thick of harvest, a late season hurricane– Ian – slams into the Southeast, threatening to disrupt work across the Carolina’s, Georgia, even up into Virginia and over into Kentucky and Tennessee. Otherwise, however, a relatively dry forecast offers a mix of benefits, a positive outlook for getting through harvest quickly, but no relief from devastating dryness in many areas.

Today, team lead for Ag Weather John Baranick will help us understand these latest harvest weather forecasts, as well as offering us a look ahead at the winter months. We’ll talk about the global situation in Latin America and Europe, the lingering impacts of the La Nina system, and where soil moisture might be as we look at planting in the coming year.

We’ll also tackle wheat conditions, winter precipitation, and the drought outlook in Nebraska.
