Episode description

Taking Pole Dance out of the club and into the mainstream, Shannon co-founded Ecdysiast in 2008. She created an aerial pole school specializing in pole dance as we know today: a coming together of Chinese pole, dance, acro, gymnastics and erotic dance styles. Pole encompasses muscular strength, flexibility and coordination. Ecdysiast's program teaches the general public and is proud to be a safe and inclusive space for womxn, trans, men, POC, GNC and LBGTQ+ folks. The studio loudly advocates for strippers and sex workers and continues to uphold a mission statement encompassing intersectional feminism. Super fun and a great workout polers express themselves in this creative and diverse aerial art.
