Episode description
The original habitat of the blue lotus was along the Nile river and in other parts of East Africa. However, back in ancient times, it was spread through the Indian subcontinent and Thailand due to the flower’s alluring appearance and perfume. From the waters, the flower buds rise to the surface where they open to reveal her blue petals with yellow centre each morning. They close again as the Sun prepares for his evening rest. At Heliopolis, the origin of the world was taught to have been when the Sun god Ra emerged from the lotus flower growing in primordial waters. At night, he would retreat into the flower again.
