Episode description

A windmill in the desert of Arizona is screaming while the wind is coming. Those windmills are used to pump water, in order to give water to cattle or wild animals for hunting. The groaning is produced naturally by the central mast on a piece of wood (part of the windmill). Recorded during a scouting for an upcoming sound art project in Arizona (to be done in 2022). Many thanks to Barry, Mimi and Jay for their help. Recorded by a Sound Devices MixPre6 With a MS Schoeps Setup CCM41 + CCM8 in a Zephyx windscreen by Cinela, and a Geofon by LOM (for the metallic sounds) Sound Ref: AZ210816T005 Wave, 96kHz Recorded on 16th of August 2021 GPS: 31.625619, -111.325112 Same sound on Freesound https://freesound.org/people/felix.blume/sounds/585061/
