Patient advocate and Founder of nonprofit, The Pink Fund, Molly MacDonald discusses the role of the financial navigator to help patients facing major illness address and manage the financial impact and where to find help. The Pink Fund provides 90 days of non-medical financial assistance (e.g. covering utility bills) to women diagnosed with breast cancer. The American Journal of Medicine reports 42% of new cancer patients lose their entire savings and 62% are in debt because of treatment.
