So you can either listen from the beginning and they could be 20 minutes into the episode or you can click the play button just below their avatar and you will join them in exactly the same point that they're listening to. I really like the discoverability potential of the friends icon that shows me what my friends have been listening to. I look forward to hearing what you all are listening to. Welcome to Fanzone, your bite -sized guide to getting the most out
of the TrueFans podcast app. In each episode, we'll discuss an aspect of the app and hopefully answer any questions you may have about it. Plus, when you listen to Fanzone in TrueFans, you can earn as you listen. and use your earnings to support your favourite podcasters. I'm Claire Waite Brown, independent podcaster and all -round podcast enthusiast. And I'm Sam Sethi, the CEO and founder of TrueFans. The final tab, or at least it's the final tab for now, on the
episode screen is called co-listening. Sam,
what happens when I click on this tab? Co-listening is a lovely feature that we added where friends that you follow or that follow you can listen to the same episode at the same time so on the home screen you have a little drop down that tells you what people are listening to what podcast you can click on it and join them and then what will happen is they get a notification that you've joined them and then when they click on that co -listen they will see your face and they will
know that you've joined them but equally if somebody joins you you can see where they are in terms of how far they've progressed in that episode. So you can either listen from the beginning, and they could be 20 minutes into the episode, or you can click the play button just below their avatar, and you will join them in exactly the
same point that they're listening to. And then in the future, the next version of co-listening, we will provide a live chat feature, which then allows you and your friends to chat in real time about the show while listening together. In the co -listen tab today, what you will end up seeing stage one is other people who are co -listening to the same episode as you. And then stage two, we will provide a live chat feature in that same co -listen tab so that you can go, oh, Claire,
did you hear what James Cridland just said? I agree, disagree or whatever. And you can then share the experience at the same time. Yeah. Oh, cool. What fun. I just wanted to remind people, you mentioned about the home screen and there's that little icon at the top, which is the three friends. And as you said, that's where you can see what other people are listening to. If you don't have any friends yet, I'm just going to remind you how to find people because you need
those friends first. So you just click on the search icon that's at the top of that screen. And then you have the option to search for someone. You can search for a fan. So that will be someone that you'll know and you'll become a friend with. An artist, so presumably a podcast or a music artist or a podcast. And then you can go and find people. And if you like that person, what do you click on? Two options. One would be follow
or the other one would be follow back. So if it's follow, it means you're not following me. So I can follow you unilaterally. But if it says follow back on the button, it means you're already following me and now I'm going to follow you back. So we have a mutual follow. Yeah. Some clever podcasters like Sam and I will have their names and photos shown on the podcast episode screen and show screen. Click on this and you will have the option to follow that creator,
as Sam has just mentioned. Please do follow us that way and we'll aim to follow you back too. I really like the discoverability potential of the friends icon that shows me what my friends have been listening to. But I do need some new friends since right now all of my friends and I listen to the same shows. I look forward to hearing what you all are listening to. Thanks
so much for listening. There are lots more episodes of Fanzone for you to get stuck into and that show you how to make the most of the fab features that this forward -looking podcast app has to offer podcast listeners and creators alike. We'd love to hear from you. You can send us a comment on TrueFans. More about that in the Fanzone episode on comments or email support@truefans .fm.
