Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly on k f a N presented by Devani's, your weekly source for the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice. Fantasy Football Weekly is also brought to you by Green Belt Premium, No Name Butcher Quality meets Honda, town Hall Family, and by the Park Tavern. Now now along with Fanball and League Saves Matt Harrison and Brian Johnson. Here's Paul Charchi in Hello, new um, Minnesota. Who It is fantastic to be here. This is UH.
It's turning into an annual tradition broadcasting live from the shelves of brewery. We did it last year in front of maybe I don't know a quarter as many people as we have this year. My co host Matt Harrison, Brian Johnson, Wait, who are you I am? Oh? Yeah, I wasn't here last week. That's my first show that I've missed in twenty four years. But we're I'm very happy to be be back holding our sleeves. I want to take just a moment to be sure to thank
Ted Marty, Ted, will you stand up back here? And maybe yeah everybody, As you guys know, Ted owns the brewery a decade long supporter of this show and the station. Thank you so much for hosting. We love every We love green Belt, we love the product, we love the people, especially been working with Ted, his wife Jody and the marketing team here for ten years. They are fantastic people and such big support as a fantasy football on their show. We love that as well. And we've devised a new
drink last night, Matt tell people about it. Uh, this is what I like to call the Blue Light Special. It is. It's green Belt Blue Yes, half of that Grain Belt Premium light half that, and it's just yes. I love how I've been cut out of all attributions. Brian was there, He was there, but you came up with it apparently. I'm maybe yeah, fantastic. Um, We're the Crush Charts Challenge will be up and running again. I know a lot of you have been playing that over
the years. That's going to come back. It's we're not quite up yet and it's still far in advance of Week one anyway, but we'll be back with the Crush Charts Challenge again, the two thousand dollar grand prize, the winner's banquet a Manny's Steakhouse in early January, back for an opportunity to play that, and of course that is all free as well, and that of course also is courtesy of Shells Brewery. We always appreciate that. Yeah, thank you very much. The two thousand dollars comes right out
of Ted's checking account. You know, you could retire on that too, grand but then it's not happening. Yeah, so um, thanks again. It's it's so nice to be here. I've seen four peacocks, but they're not nearest right now. We need the peacocks. We want to have the calling of the peacocks. And that's pretty good. Yeah, that really is is pretty good. I've now I'm a little bit worried that that's a mating call. It is, it is. That's the only one Bed Hi, Bed got that down back.
We have a lot to get to over the course of this show. It's gonna be a ton of fun. We'll talk about our week, uh, some of the things we've already learned from the preseason games. We have a new segment that we're going to do every year that we're here called the Peacock Off, and the pea cock Off is when we will give bold predictions about which we will hopefully be peacocking later in the season. We've got five hot questions. We'll talk about the wide receivers
that have the toughest defensive matchups. Who are the guys that are facing a slew of great corner acts that you want to be aware of. We'll go through that as well. We'll talk about the rookies that you want to prepare for for your Dynasty drafts and Empire drafts. Who if you're gonna have a rookie at primarily a rookie draft, how all those rookies shaking out? And then we'll give our sleepers and we'll also talk to you guys will take questions from the audience throughout. How's that
sound great? Are you excited to be here? Yes? And I think virtually everybody's drinking beer at ten in the morning. I'm excited that beer. Finally, and we would never drink beer on the air ever. Matt hi Hi tell us about Pittsburgh taking on Philadelphia and an interstate rivalries. Don't mind if I do um kind of a boring game. James Conner was the running back that started in this game. Obviously, levy on Bell's not there. He carried four times for yards.
It's the only thing that that's notable about is if you're handcuffing Levy on Bell j James Conner appears to be the guy right now that you want to target. Juju had a seventy one yard touchdown pass on a broken play from Landry Jones. That was kind of cool. He went over the corner, snapped that it was and then Alice got her from Philly the new tight end, ripy tight end. He had a second quarter touchdown pass
from Nate Sudfeld. It was a nice catch in the end zone two and I think that they're going to highlight him more than most rookie tight ends are usually highlighted. I think in really deep leagues you can draft Zachard's early what you'd have to do, and then if you've got roster spots, I think you could actually this could be the rare tight end handcuff. It could be. It could be that reminds me of a Forrest Gump Dallas from Philly text he was from Cleveland. Yeah lost me, Yeah,
sorry anyone people. I think, like most people, when I think of Forrest Gump, I think, how did pulp fiction not win Best Picture or how did Shawshake not win Best Picture that year Forrest Gump? Really it was Tampa Bay took on Miami. Jameis Winson did not start this game because he's not gonna start the season. They started Stupard as their starting quarterback. Then Jamis came in against the second team and lit him up. Win eleven for
thirteen of note. And I think this is really important. Uh, Peyton Barber got a goal line touchdown and he got a lot of work with the first team. And don't be surprised if this turns into a sneaky hand running back by committee with Peyton Barber and UH and Ronald Jones. Later in the game, Ronald Jones also got a goal line touchdown. And UM, right now, maybe, but don't pause. I think Peyton Barber is going to be a fly
in the ointment in Tampa, mark my words. On the Miami side, UH, rookie running back Klin Blage, who many people think is a super sneaky sleeper, had a fumble after leaping over a defender. The leap was really good, but then he coughed it up and we never like to see that. They targeted him five times though as a running back and so Kaitlin Balaje and PPR league's rookie. He's tall. He's like the weird like six ft two running back that you never see in the NFL. Um
He's somebody who could be a PPR contributor. At some point, we'll watch the fumbling Ryan Tannehill got his first start in six hundred six days of football. I'm still nobody's drafting him. Uh, Matt Cleveland took on the Giants. Do we want to do one of Brian's game? Let's let's talk about Washington team. And I thought you were out of all of these suff No, I got back in because all right, so I I don't have a beer, but everyone else pick up your beer and pour them
out for Darius. Guys, that's what we're talking about here. Can they pour some out into their mouth? Yeah, you don't want to waste this, don't don't waste, don't waste the grain belt. But that's the main talking point. Everybody picked it up and took a sip. Well, they this troop just not out of encouragement to drink beer. They're at a brewery of town in the morning. This is our key demographic right here. But yeah, guys done for
the year. It looked like he would be okay based on the thirty seven yard run in which he which he uh end up suffering the injury. Some people were even willing to draft him the next day in an MFL temple um. The worst part about it is, though, is we could have had our Jacques from the Morning show come on and talk about Darius a lot of times during our Fantasy Football Weekly show. I'm gonna miss that. So so right now it's Capri Bibbs or some j
p Ryan. It'll be p Ryan unfortunately, or will it be Adrian Peterson or will it be to Marco Murray. So let's ask would you would you draft Adrian Peterson right now on the speculation that some team, maybe Washington is this is gonna happen again, right some team's gonna pick him up and put him in a position where he might get some carries. I'm out in the audience. No, nobody, it's anything to do with Adrian Peterson. You know, you guys used to be fans. You know what happened. Maybe
the greatest Viking to ever plan Peterson Jersey. They're smart face players, they're disassociating their feelings, their sentimental feelings with Peterson because he's cooked and you should not be anymore. No, it really isn't all right now. Eveland at the Giant, Well, this one was kind of an exciting the battle between the number one overall pick in the number two overall pick, Baker Mayfield and say Kwon Barkley. Hello, se Kwon, Welcome to the show. How about that first carry? Kwan thirty
nine yards on his first play of the game. The notable part was Jonathan Stewart had as many touches in the first drive with the first team as sa Kwon did. They each had to It's like, no, don't, don't do this to me. I don't want Jonathan Stewart. Stewart's no good. And they know it. Yeah, they'll figure it out, right, they don't know it now, they'll know what. Uh. Tyrod Taylor started the game for Cleveland. He connected with Jarvis Landry down the sideline for a thirty two yard completion.
Then Landry, of course, got a fifteen yard penalty for taunting right away. Uh, David and Joku, I know you were really excited about this church. He had two touchdowns, one from Tyrod and one from Baker Mayfield, and both of them were pretty nice plays, especially the Mayfield one. Uh. And then Baker Mayfield came in in the second quarter and he looked great. I thought. Uh. Played until the fourth through twenty times in the game, had two hundred
twelve yards and two touchdowns. Was very mobile, was all over the field. Included a seven yard slant route pass to rookie Antonio Callaway that he turned into a fifty four yard touchdown. That's a name you might want to file away too. After Josh Gordon is now not there, Corey Coleman is now not there. Antonio Callaway might be a rookie that you just want to kind of well if you're looking to score some weed. YEA, now always your guys. His friend, it wasn't his friend conveniently left
that part out of the story. Antonio Galloway, it's Josh Gordon's not there. Somebody's got a step up. That's true, Tonio Galloway. You know that Spider Man meme or they're pointing at each other. Yeah, just a said Antonio gall Callaway meets Josh Gordon. They're changing their name to the Cleveland Greens. Carolina took on Buffalo for Carolina, Cam Newton was sharp, went six of nine for eighty four yards, although it was all underneath dump off stuff and they
didn't let him throw downfield at all. C J. Anderson and Christian McCaffrey both had goal line touchdowns, which was interesting. C J. Anderson remains one of my favorite deep deep sleeper guys. Uh, going off the board, you know what, I don't have the ADP in front of me, but I guess roughly round eleven. North says touches per game, you can say that all he wants. I think c J. Anderson is certainly going to get the majority of the goal line work. H. D J. Morris the rookie receiver
that might be the best one to own this year. Here. It is just game one. He went four catches seventy five yards and looked good doing it. UH. D J. Moore feels like he might be the safest of the the rookie wide receivers on Buffalo side of the ball. All the quarterbacking was brutal and we got no real clarity here. A J. McCarron didn't do anything to lose the starter's job, and I think it's still his but
he didn't look good either. Josh Allen, the rookie, the big iron kid from Wyoming, He's ever litely ste throwing like seventy yards downfield, and it's it looks simple. Now he's throwing into the second tier of the stadium. I've seen that to Virus. Jackson could do that as well. Right, Um, it's it. He just sprayed balls around the field. I He's got a long way to go and looks like
every bit the project he's gonna be part of. He had a couple of good passes to I'm not taking it all away from him, but he's got some work to do. That Mountain Kelvin Kelvin Benjamin had a touchdown. He probably has the lowest average draft position of any number one wide receiver in the league, and people have totally forgot about him, forgotten about him. If they can get anything out of the quarterback position, he could be
a a legitimate sleeper option. Let's go to Green Bay. Uh, nothing to talk about in this game other than Tim Boyle throwing two touchdowns for the Packers. Aaron Rodgers job clearly in jeopardy after this game. No, no, there's nothing to talk about here. Mariota two for three for two yards in a touchdown, and uh, screw the Packers right yeah, you know in your your crowd right there, playing to the audience, as we like to say. Matt New Orleans taking on Jacksonville. Not a ton in this game either,
possible super Bowl matchup. Oh no, no, no no. Blake Bortles started, He played one serious, he looked good, had a five yard touchdown run. Uh. The Jags old line was missing two starters in that game, so it was good that Bortles stayed clean in his drive. Uh. Leonard Fournett had a couple of nice runs in the first drive, but that was really about it. No drew reason the game. On the Saints, we did see both Alvin Kamara and mark Ingram. Kamara only played the first drive. Ingram stayed
in through the second quarter. Obviously, Ingram's out for the first four games of the season, so they're a little less worried about putting a little wear and tear on him right now, so well and frankly, punish him a little. Yeah, make him run in the preseason. Here, here's some third quarter preseason runs for you, mark Ingram. Uh. Cincinnati took on Chicago, Chicago, there was literally nothing to report. Starters played eight plays and they netted one yard. So there's
nothing to talk about in the Chicago side. But the Cincinnati side, this is probably as a team. If I would take one team and just say, if there was one team that has the the best sleepers as a team, the ability to team jump team jump, Yes, yep up, it's Cincinnati. One of the worst offenses last year, vastly improved offensive line. They put a first round pick in Billy Price into their offensive line. They signed Corty Glenna to their offensive line, and it's uh, I think this
offense gets a lot better. Joe Mixon had a had a really nice touchdown reception, including two broken tackles. Joe Mixon. She had fifteen pounds over the over the off season, and he looks terrific. What I say, don't want to spoon Joe Mixon kind of seems change of lifestyle. I just want him on my fantasy team. Okay, I will say Joe Mixon is currently my number eleven running back and trending upward on my cheat sheet and you can get it at fanball dot com for free. Right now, everybody,
here's got my cheat sheet right, all right? Good, If anybody needs one, you can let us know. Well, we can make more copies. Um. Also we had Andy Dalton had um had a pick six that you'll see on the box score, but the receiver fell down. That's not his fault. He had two drives, he had two touchdowns and well three if the other way. But but John Ross fell down on the play, so it's not Andy Dalton's fault. Andy Dalton another guy that I like as a sleeper and a j Green I think is being
is is too far down people's rankings. Currently my number seven wide receiver and trending up. We'll talk about him very soon. Alright, let's go to our next game. It's a quick one here, Houston at Kansas City. Not a ton to report here other than another quarterback in trouble. That's DeShawn Watson. Brandon we didn't too touchdown passes, so a wasted draft pick at this point. Notice kidding. Brandon Weeden still in the league, by the way. Yeah, I
thought he was dead, but good for him. Jordan Aikins for Houston caught two touchdowns all right behind Ryan Griffin on the depth chart as their tight end, uh C j Fedorwitz no more retired, So that was the only guy who did anything. So keep your eye on Jordan's Aikins and I won't keep my eye on Jordan Aikins. Thank you. Let's go to uh Matt Ram's taking on the Ravens. Yeah, Joe Flacco started the game and solidified his place as a starter. You sound very excited about that.
Are we all not rooting for Joe Flacco to fail? Yes, we all. We want Lamar Jackson running the ball down the field. So everybody's sad about Joe Flacco's wonder I've going seventy yards for a touchdown. Lamar Jackson did come in next before r G three had a chance to play with some of the ones. He led a five play seventy three yard drive and ran in a nine yard touchdown run. That was pretty cool. So I like
seeing that. His touchdown run was absolutely awesome. By the way the pocket collapsed, he escaped, he broke two tackles on the play, it was It was super cool. Um Jackson played coming out a halftime as well, and then yielded to r G three at the tail end of the game and the Rams on their side. They didn't bring anyone to this game. John Kelly is Todd Gurley's backup. That's the only thing I know. Here's and John. Did you see any of John Kelly's runs? He looks good?
He was. This is you know, if you're if you're gonna spend that number one pick on Todd Gurley first pick overall, John Kelly looks legitimate fourth round rookie. He looked thirteen carries seventy seven yards and he he looked pretty good. He had a forty yard run in there too, So yeah, well that's a guy most people don't have any awareness of whatsoever, but an excellent last pick you're draft if you have the first pick in your draft, definitely a Todd Curley handcuff. Did you take any more
games or you got one more out already? We haven't talked about Captain Andrew Luck yet, who's returned to the battlefields. Yes, uh, yeah, Luck played his arm didn't fall off. Six for nine for sixty four yards. Uh. The Colts did lose Dion Kane, who was a rookie receiver people were excited about. Their depth is very thin at wide receiver. He's out for the year and then uh for Seattle real quick, Chris Carson four carries for twenty six yards, while Rashad Penny
eight for sixteen gross and Carson started started. He looks like the guy. Yeah, Penny, you drafted him expecting Bill cow work. Uh, Bill, grab a shells you can need it. Um. I watched all of Andrew lux throws. They didn't let him throw. His longest throw was about eight yards, So I mean there's still being really dump off and underneath stuff, and so they're taking they're being cautious with him. Uh. Neither Marlon Mack or niheem Heinz did anything of of
note in that game either. And Jordan Wilkins also in the Nicks theiff rookie running back to He didn't do much, but that's a three headed monster. Dallas took on San Francisco Michael Gallops or rookie receiver. They need receiving help. No Dez Bryant. Michael Gallup showed up with a touchdown on a go route. Dak Prescott just played one series. He went three for three and threw that touchdown to Michael Gallup on the San Francisco side. Jered McKinnon, you're familiar. Yeah,
do you guys think he's a great runner that guy does. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not as uh, I'm not as inclined to think. So three carries negative four yards, that's not good for Jerreck in this game. I this I'm avoiding big too. There are people that have him. It's like their number twelve, number thirteen. Yeah, he's like a second
or third round pick right now. And then basically just in the fact that he got paid and that he's going to and he's going to what should be a decent Sanwanso Go offense, but it's also an offense where we know Kyle Shanahan uses a rotation of running backs. Yeah, over his ADP last week. I've already we've covered this. Don't drab jerkm Ken. Although Matt Breida hurt his shoulder, Well, I gotta I gotta running back that I'd rather get instead of him. That's carry On Johnson, who was in
the Detroit Oakland game. He looked really good by the way. Carry On carry On seven carries thirty four yards and then he had four catches for thirty three. Blunt started with the ones, but carry On was the guy who actually looked good in this game. And he's the rookie running back in Detroit. He's going to get the first shot over Blunt, Amir Abdulah, all those guys. I like him a lot. On the Oakland side, There's nothing to talk about. That's not true. Did you not see Marshawn
Lynch just touchdown? Run Marshawn Lynch. There's nothing to talk about. Let's stop with this is one of my through this last year we did. How did it work out? Currently? My number sixteen running back? Yeah, well, look what happened to that coaching staff for ex using Marchhahn Lynch. Lynch was good last year. He had the eleventh highest rating by Pro Football Focus among all running backs last season, and the Raiders had given the ball nine times in the game. It was it was absurd. He will not
have a usage problem with John Gruden. They had brought in Doug Martin to spell all the more reason to like Marshawn. Absolutely not the cops. On Marshawn Lynch's sixty yard touchdown, he outran the entire Lions defense with sheer speed that I'm telling you Lynch is in great shape. They're gonna use him right this time. Are you sure you weren't watching like a Madden replay or something. No. By the way it was called, the play was called back and penalty, so I should say, nevertheless, this is
not take anything away from Lynch. Um. So they the Raiders cheated to get Marshawn Lynch a good play that didn't out. No, yes, uh, last ye, I'll mention about Carrie and Johnson. They threw to him five times, and I think he's gonna be a sneaky PPR. Not nine times, but not top nine times. Uh, what's who's next? Think it's me Houston of Kansas City. Deshaun Watson had one pass for four yards. Uh, Lamar Miller, we should talk about Jordan Nakins Moore, Let's not do that. What do
we have left? I think we're done? Are we done? All right? Good? Because we're overdue for a break when we come back. What do we have next? Hold on the peak Off. We're gonna talk about cock off receivers, right, No, we're doing the peacock Off next. Yeah, the peacock Off. Bold predictions from each of our host that later on in the season, we'll be peacocking about how we got this right, and it seemed absurd way back in the middle of getting ready here. Yeah, your plumages is all
over the place. It is Fantasy Football Weekly, year number twenty four, Live from Newell, Minnesota at the Shells Brewery. Listinct of Fantasy Football Weekly on the fan. Welcome second woll Little Still Still Brewery. Are you on a breath? I am a little lot of breath and running around. Yeah, this is fantastic. ADP just rose like ten spots through the tables. Pretty impressive, wasn't it. The spin move and the lead was was the best part mid season for me.
We've we've got so many more people this year than last year. We need to run more copies of the Chee Chee, so I was trying to get all that accomplished. And people are gonna come around and distribute more of those,
which is great. So yes, let's talk now. The Shells Beer Garden is beautiful for a lot of reasons, not the least of which are the free roaming peacocks, of which remember last year we had the peacock on the roof right there, and the peacock was interrupting our show and it was great and we loved that we loved that this year, we the peacocks are somewhere We've seen them, but they haven't. They haven't. They are not integrated into our show yet. Took a selfie with one pre show.
It was it was pretty nice. I think that's pretty weird to be honest about that. Yeah. Um, alright, so what I want to do is talk. This is the Peacock Off, a bold prediction segment. Things that most normal people would never think to be true. But you're gonna go out on a limb on and make your case and then hopefully later on in the season you'll be peacocking about how you got this correct. Brian, Let's start with you. Alright. Uh, so this doesn't matter if you're
in a one quarterback or a super flex league. Um, you can basically wait very long a quarterback. Select from one of two guys who we're gonna finish inside the top twelve A quarterback who are going well outside the top twenty A quarterback, and that's Eli Manning and former Viking case Keenum now Roy Broncos. So you're saying, if I am in a one quarterback or if I'm in a flex or a two quarterback league, a two quarterback. If you're in one quarterback, wait till the later rounds.
Grab one of these guys. Let's talk about on both. First off, Eli has the eighth easiest schedule and Keenum the ninth according to Fantasy pros um. Looking at him a little more individually, let's start with Eli. So right now, te Kwon Barkley is getting drafted around RB seven, Odell Beckham, wide receiver three, Evan Ingraham inside the top five. If
that holds true. If in ninety nine times in NFL history, which teammates running back, white, receiver, tight end have finished inside the top twelve at their respective positions, and in those nine times that's happened, the average finished for a quarterback is QB six. So if you're believing in Barkley and Beckham and Ingram, how is Eli not gonna get it done as well? So I'm liking him in late rounds. And yes I'm a Giants fan, but I'm going to
poop poo on a Giant later in the show. So bas I know, I think there's I think there's some validity to that. If you think Odell Beckham's the top three wide receiver and you think having ingered the top five tight end and you think se Kwon Barkley's canna catch fifty paths. Somebody's gotta somebody's gotta district Sterling Shepherd not to Chevy either. So I'm like in Eli and uh to keen them real quick. Now. In Denver, I
loved Mary's Thomas and Manny Sanders. Keenham is a huge upgrade over Trevor Simeon, Paxton Lynch, whatever else they ran out there last year. More than six percent of Denver's touchdowns came via the past last year. I expect that re show to stay at least the same and the touchdown total to rise. I don't trust the running game at all. Uh, this is this team is gonna be on case with shoulders and uh the best part about it to revenge games this year against the Rams and
the Texans. So that's eight touchdowns guaranteed. And then uh, great playoffs schedule to Week fourteen at San fran then Cleveland and at Oakland. That's gonna win you titles of during the playoffs. And got keen Um on your oster that give us your first peacock off. I'm really excited about this. A player that's near and dear to your heart. All right, Eric Ebron, gross, Yeah, I guess what he's gonna finish as a top ten tight end this year? He's not. Yes, he's currently going off the board his
tight end number twenty two. Jeez, people are trying to eat here. But he's with Andrew Luck, your guy, h and Andrew and Andrew Lucks best healthy season, the Colts had the best team tight end fantasy statistics in the league. They were number one for the tight end position. That was with Duane Allen and Jack Doyle. That team was top five and receptions and yards and finished second in
the league tight end touchdowns. Last season without Luck, Jack Doyle still finished as the ninth best fantasy tight end. What you may not have realized as Eric Ebron finished as the fourteenth best tight end last year on Alliance Wow and yeah they and they liked him so much the Hi Yeah, let him walk away. They know everything about Eric Ebron. They've seen every snap, every practice, and they said, you know what, Eric, feel free to leave
Detroit and never come back. Well, guess what else. Frank Reich took over as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts this year. He came from a tight end heavy system, the team tight end champion last year, the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia had a hundred and ten receptions and fourteen touchdowns last year from their tight ends through to top it off, Indianapolis has the second easiest tight end schedule for the season according to Fantasy Pros. So, I think there's a
lot of room to eat. T Y Hilton's the only wide receiver they got that you would take run head of Jack Doyle both can I can, I can wait, I can wait, watch Jack Doyle go, and then I can take really late. All right, how much you want to read into this, but uh, within the last get in the preseason game, Luck dropped back twelve times to pass this first two drives, Doyle ran eleven route and
the Vron ran five. So that's twice as much work. Yeah, we asked for bold they're they're they're keeping it under wraps. We asked for bold predictions, not clinically insane predictions. There's a narrow, narrow margin there. Uh. Patrick Mahomes is going to finish just the top ten quarterback. No, he's not. He is Virtually every rather ingredient in the recipe for success for a young quarterback is present in Patrick Mahomes. First, he's he was a first round talent. Chief's moved out
to get him. Uh, this is a coaching staff with a lot of experience cultivating quarterbacks. Say what you want. With Andy Reid. He can't win in the playoffs, he can't get to the super Bowl or win the super Bowl. But what he can do is get good play out of his quarterbacks. He's done it, oh, all of the time throughout his lengthy career, both in Philadelphia and resurrecting Alex Smith's career. Also, Patrick Mahomes had the luxury of
learning from the sidelines for one year. That's fantastic. I don't like throwing rookies out to the wolves if they're not ready and forcing them to learn on the job and develop bad habits and get skaish and everything else. I like that. Tons of receiving talent for Patrick Mahomes, Kelsey Watkins, Hill, and he can throw to his running backs. Hunt is a great pass catching running back as well, So plenty of talent around him, and maybe most importantly,
he's got the mobility to produce rushing production. He's I'm not saying he's Deshaun Watson, but he he is nimble, he can get downfield, and they're gonna let him run some Alex Smith ran a bunch. You know, this isn't a coaching staff. It's gonna force him to be a pocket passer. They're gonna utilize the speed he brings to the position in much the same way that they did last year with Alex Smith, when in every scoring system
Alex Smith was the top six quarterback last year. Plus, unlike Alex Smith, you get a cannon for an arm. He's got a blonkers. He might have the the second, third, fourth strongest arm in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes will finish as a top ten quarterback. All right, let's go to your second peacock off. So Evan Engram is going to finish inside the top twenty among among wide receivers this season. Okay, not a wide receiver. Let's um to clarify. How's it gonna work. He's not even when it comes to your
roster among wide receivers. He will be in the top twenty in terms of points. But yes, you play him at tight end. Stand that? Okay, your fantasy team. So he's a tight end. But if I were to take his fantasy points at the end of the year and look at those compared to the top twenty wide receivers, his fantasy points are being there. That's what you're saying, Yes, required that much, but yes it will because he's primarily Yes, wind up and we're getting this minute of my life
back throughout throughout training camp. He's playing wide receiver. He will not be blocking, movie blocking and uh. In fifteen games last year, Evan Angram had sixty four catches, seven twenty two yards and six touchdowns. He'll need seventy five catches, nine yards and around nine touchdowns to finish inside the top twenty, he thinks. And he's gonna get there with Beckham in in the mix and Barkley of course healthy.
Raham was the prime focus for defenses last year who have a lot of room to run, and he's going to play wide receiver this year. He's gonna play wide receiver. Yes, So he's gonna be lining up on the outside line of Derby's blaze, not blocking, and he is. He might have more fancy points in Odell Beckham this year. Whoa go there? That would have been That would have been i'd have been good right there. I'm gonna tell you
not to draft Godell Beckham in the next segment. So I've got Evan Ingram is my number four tight end. He'll finish in the top three. He'll finish in the top three. I like it, all right. Obviously I'm not obviously I'm on board with seven ing You haven't. No one thinks he's gonna finish the head of arts, and I like it all right. That could have been your pea cock off right there, all right after, can you follow up your Eric Ebron something that makes an I
owed a more sense it. This one hurts something actually actionable by our listening audience. Yeah, you said Patrick Mahomes. But I'd say the guy who just left Kansas City. That's Alex Smith. He's going to finish as a top ten quarterback, currently going off the board as quarterback twenty and if you're drafting on Yahoo for some reason, he's going off the board as quarterback twenty nine, which I don't get. Um. Yes, you know that I can run
the ball anymore and wash that's true. So his weapons changed from hunt Hill Kelsey to Jamison Crowder, Paul Richardson Jordan Reed and Chris Thompson. That's certainly depressing, Um, but don't forget that he finished last season is the sixth ranked fantasy quarterback, and Jake Gruden, his new head coach, had Kirk Cousins over the last three years. Cousins finished as the worth, third and ninth best fantasy quarterback over
the last three seasons. Washington faces the second easiest quarterback schedule according to Fantasy Pros, and the easiest wide receiver schedule in the league. While they're running backs that are terrible face the third hardest running back schedule in the league. They're going to pass all over the place, and Smith doesn't throw picks. He's thrown eight or fewer interceptions in each of the last seven seasons. He's also a sneaky good runner top two or fifty rushing yards in four
of the last five seasons. He'll he'll add to that, they're they're just gonna throw constantly. I think there's something to that. I like this angle lot more than so. I can take my tinfoil hat off. Um. Last one, I'll make a quick stee We need to take a break. Already already alluded to Marshawn Lynch. I think he's gonna double his fantasy points from last year and even start
fantasy points last year. So it's not even saying a lot, but he will double his fantasy points, so that will launch him into an excellent strata for your fantasy team. This isn't supposed to be funny predictions. Everybody's laughing out there right now. No, they're not there. They think, uh I alluded to this last segment. People think he was bad last year. He wasn't bad. He was just underused. Pro Football Focus ranked him eleventh among all backs last year.
The Raiders only gave him fourteen touches a game. It was ridiculous. He was one of the He's one of the NFL's few workhorse backs. There's nobody that's going to take meaningful reps away from him. Here's number one in past protection on the running backs in in the NFL. Last year, He'll be on the field for third down. And then there's this John Gruden loves to run the ball. I went back and ran the numbers on all of John Gruden's runs versus passes as an offensive coordinator or
a head coach. He ran his he passed the ball on of his place, which sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. Last year, if you ran, if you passed the ball of the time, you were actually running the ball the ninth most times. So, applying what he has done his historically two last season's numbers on run pass, he would run the ball the ninth most times in the NFL if he does what he had done throughout his previous careers. So Mars Shawn Lynch my guy and
running back number sixteen. All right, we'll take a break. When we come back, Brian, we'll tell you about three wide receivers that have brutally tough matchups with cornerbacks throughout the course of the season that may want to affect your rankings and the way you think about these players. All that, and Martin, we come back to New All, Minnesota and the Shells Brewery Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Victory on Sundays comes from listening to these guys on Saturday.
This is Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Welcome back to Newall, Minnesota, the Shells of Brewery. Yeah, we've got I don't know, at least a hundred twenty people, maybe fantastic have so many fantasy football loving rubes just like me. Well better looking than me, but just like me in that one regard. You love fantasy football, and they hope they don't love Marshawn Lynch as much as you either. Now they really should. By the way, his ADP is ridiculous.
We were talking about that in the audience a little bit. I think right now he's like running back thirty thirty two going off the board. It's ridiculous, workhorse back run for system and he's good. You know what your is? Right? Are you? Are you from the past. Marshawn Lynch is timeless, Frank. It's time Frank can do it. Marsa all right, Brian, this is your chance to step up, and I'll mention this.
If it's not here, it's never happening. Uh. I've, I've, I've We've assigned you this job, I think in three straight years now to help unearth a a a series of receivers that are notable receivers that people are depending on. But I've got brutally tough schedules because most people don't get that granular with the schedule and start looking at cornerback matchups. But that's what I've asked you to do. It was a big job, and now we get the results.
What do you got? Yeah, not just the corner matchups, but just some just you know, some other factors will come into play too. So I've been given the Giants a lot of love this show, Eli Ingram. I'm going to do the opposite with Odell Beckham here. Uh, right now, he's going twelve overall on average is wide receiver three. So if you're sitting on the clock and you're wanted to pick Beckham, uh cannot fault you. Uh. It's it's big name and uh, you know obviously and obviously he's
really really good. So there's that. But there might be if you want to go wide receiver, there might be another guy you take over him. But let's look at why you would, uh maybe fade Beckham on draft day? Uh, starting Week one home versus Jacksonville, brutal roadblock. Right there, best secondary of the NFL, and his first came back off a c L. Jack's only about eight touchdowns of wide receivers last year. Awful matchup, could probably get it.
He can get it done against anyone, but brutal matchup. On to Week two, at Dallas. Not that scary of a matchup Byron Jones and shadoube A wooz A not a formidable formatable corner duo by any means. But Beckham's catch totals in the last four game four games against Dallas four, four, four, and five just one touchdown on those four So for whatever reason, he's been struggling against the Cowboys when he's not making one handed UH circus
catches UH. Week three at Houston, Jonathan Joseph used to be one of the most kind of in the twilight of his career. They do have Kevin Johnson, who's in a contract year right now, only played twelve games last year. Was are from a percent UH. Texans were shredded by wide receivers last year, allowed eighteen touchdowns to the position. They did address of the safety position with their top
pick in the draft. This is a neutral matchup, borderline tough, don't hate it, but not a great one by any means. But the next week, Week four at home against New Orleans, probably the second best secondary in the NFL right now in my opinion, with Marshawn Lattimore and Ken Crawley at cornerback. Only allowed eleven touchdowns to wide receivers last season. That'd be the Saints. The Saints direct they allowed quite a few Stefan digs though, yeah maybe ah yeah, So here
my boy album. Kamara was saying about the Vikings. They played each other this year, So who's uh after you? Do you have you have data for Odell beyond the Saints? I do Week five the Carolina This is probably his best matchup of the stretch. They were brutal against the past last year. They did spend second and third round picks on corners in the draft, but the secondaries have been a rebuild. So you gotta like beck him in
that matchup? Uh, next or the next week? I don't like though, And that's Philly And you used to love your wide receivers going up against the Eagles last year. Not last year. Wide receivers only scored in eight of sixteen games against the Eagles, but over the previous it's
amazed by the way. That's pretty amazing. Yes, and considering this and the two seasons prior, wide receivers scored at least once in twenty seven of thirty two games against Philly for forty two total touchdowns, but Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby have totally turned the tides for that secondary. Beckham did have nine catches for seventy nine yards and two touchdowns in Week three last year against Philly, but
Ronald Darby did not play in that game. And uh, this is gonna be a bad matchup for a lot of wide receivers this season Philly on like past years. And then I'm gonna run through these real quick at Atlanta next week. Desmond Truefont, Robert Robert Alford Week eight home versus Washington. Do you believe Josh Norman returns to form. I kind of think he will. He was in a
shutdown corner when he sit in form. That's a tough matchup, and then Week nins is by so and then those other factors Sequan Barkley, Evan Ingram balls to go around. So I love Beckham, obviously he can get it done against anyone one of the best wide receivers in the league. But I am going to take Keenan Allen over Odell Beckham on draft day. If I am resigned to drafting a wide receiver in the first round, I'm totally should be well so on your if I don't know that
you publish a cheat sheet. If you publish a cheat cheet, you would actually have Keenan Allen ahead of Odell Beckham. Wide receiver three. Kanan Allen absolute monster when healthy, and he runs about half the snaps from the slot and that's not a bad thing because the inferior cornerbacks usually sometimes. Yeah, you don't get all over the place. But um, I love his schedule week home a week one home versus Kansas City. Um, week do it buffalo? Who is this? Uh?
This is Keenan all all right. So now we're shifting to a guy you do want to take. I'm draft think Keenan Allen ober Odell Beckham. Basically, if you're gonna take Odell Beckham, I'm telling you to take Keenan Allen. Um, for the sake of time, we might just want to focus on the guys that we don't want to Uh, we do not want to take. Sweet let me just momentarily, all right, let me just tell you this. Keenan Allen won't see Denver until mid November. The hardest matchup on
his schedule in that secondaries. Nothing that wasn't passed. Uh, he's just got an amazing schedule. And I had a lot more good stuff to say. Maybe I'll put it on a Twitter. But well, for the people who are here, they can chat with you on the break. That good. Alright, alright, next guy. And this this pains me to say I'm not drafting Davanta Adams. Last year I professed my love for him wide receiver seven. I think we're right here, but man brutal stretch for him starting Week one, UH
home versus Chicago. Uh. He didn't score on both meetings last year, but total just one hundred yards. Kyle Fuller, great corner, but then he got Minnesota. Obviously. Rhodes closed Trey Wayne's Week three at Washington Josh Norman. Week four, Buffalo, they allowed eight wide touchdowns to wide receivers. Last everybody ran on Buffalo cope be so you didn't even bother the pass. Week five at Detroit Darius Slay. They did
not score against Detroit. Last year, Yon's only allowed nine wide receiver touchdowns and two wide receivers hit the hundred yard of watermark against them last year. Week six against San Francisco, that's a good matchup. Week seven by Week eight, the Rams, the Rams, you might want to bench all wide receivers against the Rams this year. With the action Marcus Peters keep to leeb that defense, it's gonna be
an absolute night er. So that is a brutal matchup at New England is no good in Week nine for Adams. In Week ten home versus Miami, Xavian Howard is a corner you might have not heard of. Only two wide receivers the hundred yard marketains at Dolphins last season, and only one wide receiver touchdown over their final six games were allowed by the Dolphins. So I am all out
on Davante Adams. And because of the acquisition of Jimmy Graham too, and Matt you've got some red zone stats for Jimmy Graham, I don't know off the top of your head, but yeah, the Packers last healthy season, uh Aaron Rodgers through a hundred and fifteen red zone pass attempts and completed third be three red zone touchdowns. Jimmy Graham was the leader in red zone targets, receptions and touchdowns last season. Okay, Yeah, that was that was Adams
primary role based on anybody, everybody, all right? Yeah? And then uh so real quick and we talked about a J. Green quick. So if you're thinking Adams, I'm drafting AJ Green. There's only three trouble spots in his first ten weeks. Week five at Miami. We discussed them. He's got a body week nine and then week ten against New Orleans. But he's got nothing in terms of shut corners on his schedule. There's no Jalen Ramsey, there's no Xavier Rods,
there's no Pat Peterson. And then in week fifteen and sixteen, he's got Oakland and Cleveland like AJ Green over Adams all day. All right, well done, we got any time? Not really? Okay? Can you don't draft Davis? Draft Emmanuel Sanders? Perfect? Alright? I was. I don't think I was gonna draft Corey Davis anyway. People are he's throwing wide receiver twenty eight. People are, that's too high it is to have. I guess that's just right. That was perfect. They got it
just right, real quick. Miami, Houston, Jacksonville, Philly, Buffalo with the first five for Corey Davis. Brutal. When we come back, five hot questions, five hot questions, you get to play along. We'll see if anybody in our our audience here can go five and oh and if you can, Matt will buy you a grain belt or I got a couple of Sports Hub Games Network T shirts. Well, there we go. We could we have T shirts as well. You can't lie. Yeah, that's just today. This is really much more of a
truth test to our audience. We'll see if you can go five and oh and our five hot questions when we come back with more Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Welcome back to New All Minnesota, these shells of Grewery. We are live Fantasy Football Weekly, year number twenty four. I am Paul Charchy in my co host Matt Harrison, Brian Johnson. Getting you ready for drafts. Anybody already had their draft is already
over with for anybody, that's why they're here. That's great. Yeah, you know, sometimes it just works out that way that it's it's more important that you get together with your friends. And if that means just all the schedules don't work out and you have to have a draft this early, it's worth it, but ideally you have it later. But it's more important that you get together for the draft.
For a lot of us, it's the only time that we see these people is once a year, and then we mock them every week of the season after that for their craft and the off season and and the off season, that's right, yes, and not just for their crappy fantasy teams. It could be their face, you know a lot of other things. That's yeah, that's just mean. Yeah, that's not us. Uh. Five hot questions brought to you by Devanni's. By the way, our second year sponsor with
Devanni's are happy to have them here. We begin with hot question number one. Andrew Lux started the first Precinct season game last Thursday and gives the appearance of being ready to start Week one. Two years ago he finished as the fourth best fantasy quarterback. Two years before that, he was the number one fantasy quarterback. Will he finished as a top five quarterback this year? Matt Um No, he won't. Um. I think that he's he's the ten
of people here. Know. You had a constipated look on your face when you said that, Yeah, it was a long night last night. And what's the snell up here? A lot and a lot of cheese, apparently, um. Andrew Lux currently going off the boards the tenth quarterback, that number slowly rising. I think he hits value, but I don't think he pops into the top five. Um he played in only seven games in didn't play at all last year. And this is mostly because the quarterback competition
is so tough right now. We in our peacock off, we just like cited four guys that we thought we're gonna be top ten quarterbacks. And also the top ten is actually about sixteen guys exactly. So if healthy Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers almost certainly top five quarterbacks, then you mix in Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins, and charges guy Jimmy Garoppolo. All those guys could be in the mix for a top five quarterback
spot if we can guarantee a full sixteen games. I think he finishes top ten, but not top five. Brian Well Andrew Luck finishes the top five quarterback this year. Yeah, not much to add. He does have the six easiest skit all according to Fantasy Pros for quarterbacks, but yeah, I just don't see him beating out one of Rogers, Wilson, Breze, Brady or Cam. Those are my top five in that order.
Didn't even mention Shaun Watson. So no, yeah, sorry Luck, No, Uh, the answer is no, uh, he may not be allowed to run. And I think you guys didn't emphasize this enough. Um, his solid rushing numbers are really what powered him to that fourth overall finished, that first overall finished, and I don't I think with the shoulder they're gonna be really cautious with him. And then there's you know, there's just
playing now more other elite mobile quarterbacks. Did you have to get pass to get into the top five like Cam Newton and Russell Wilson. He has to get by elite passing quarterbacks like Brady Breeze, Stafford Rivers, Wentz, all excellent passers. And then I look at the dearth of receiving talent on the team. How many people here can even name a wide receiver other than t Y Hilton on this team? Anybody go Ryan Grant, we got one, hooray, Jester Rogers, I got all right, So we got two guys.
You can name anybody else? Like it's bad. Now I realized Eric Ebron is gonna have touchdowns that that'll propel Luck to a top five correct answer is no. Oh, how many people are still in? Yeah? How many people? How many people alive through one question? We have very honest crowd. We're already down to like twenty out of twenty. Alright. They thought your love for luck would would overcome everything. No, not here, We're brutally rational. I'm Fantasy Football Weekly. All right,
let's move on question number two. It's the fourth round and the big three tight ends Gronk, Kelsey and Earth's are gone. Should you go for a tier two tight end now while you can or continue to ignore the position for quite a while? Brian I was shocked to see it over the last month. It seems like Jimmy Graham and Greg Olsen have a leap for Evan Ingram and a DP as tight end four and five, and
Ingram's at six. Now, Um, of course you're surprised, giants, guy, Yeah, didn't I go over and finish this tight end three? So it's pretty obvious that I will take Evan Ingram happily in the fifth round. Uh. Mostly, yes, you're saying go for a tier two tight end now. But the problem, you know, is this question is wrong because Ingram is a Tier one tight end. So it doesn't really. Yes, I'm taking Evan Ingram all day long. All right, Matt, So I get to take a tight end in the
next few rounds. What This is a pretty ambiguous question. It's a little end, big us what I was trying not to box you into. So so like by the eighth round, Okay, I'll take Kyle Rudolph. Alright, skull Vikings. See I played around, that's right. Uh, there's a lot of tight ends I really like in the late rounds. Last week. I mentioned Tyler Eiffert as my sleeper, but I want to draft Kyle Rudolph. Um, you're gonna have to probably reach round to do it in Minnesota because
we we know what's up here in Minnesota. Kirk Cousins said it was like throwing to a mattress. Yeah he did. Mattress. Yeah, like a king size mattress. He's such an easy target. Can a mattress catchy? Yeah? It'll just stick in. That's brilliant. Uh. What is Kyle Rudolph's sleep number? Like? Is it zero? It just sinks right, And I don't know. Uh. Cousins has always relied on his tight ends in the red zone. See Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis last year, and John D.
Filippo came from the Eagles organization. I already mentioned the Eagles really like to focus on their tight ends last year a lot in the red zone as well. All signs point to Kyle Rudolph being a difference maker this year. He might even usurp one of those top three tight ends. In my mind, finishing the top three. The correct answer is ignore the position. And wait, here's why, Thank you good, we got a lot. I have a lot of support
for this already. Here's why. The second year tight ends don't give you any more predictable production, don't give you enough predictable production. We don't know. We don't know what's going to happen with any of those guys. For sure. We can open dream, you know, but we don't have any We don't have any way to say that even Evan Ingram or Trey Burton or is Greg Olsen gonna stay healthy? Is Trey Burton suddenly gonna be a power for the Bears. Is Jimmy Graham gonna do anything other
than catch to touch? This is the one thing we don't We don't know anything going into this. Here's what you do know if we if we look at last year, once you get last year's results, once you got to tight end five, you were already at half of the fantasy points on average of the top five. So once you've fallen off the cliff, you may as well just get value at other positions because you're already over the cliff.
If you're not gonna get one of the elite guys we've got for late round guys, I would rather roll the dice on is this a year that Jordan Reeds stay us healthy? I'll try that, David and Joku, I'll try Tyler Raifords. I told you I love Bengals Ei. There are other guys that I will try. And even if that, if that means I'd rather use my fourth round pick, my fifth round pick on much more of a sure thing like I'd like, I'd rather go get
a Mary Cooper as one example. Dan, try to roll the dice and and hope that Greg Olsen is gonna stay healthy this season, Evan Ingram is gonna outscore Martin. Let's see what we got left? What do we got? What do we got left here? Oh? Yeah, how many people are still alive? All right? One? Two? Three, five, six, seven, eight, nine, sixteen, about thirty people. Let's move on to hot question number three. Say Kwan Barkley is the obvious number one rookie runner.
Darius Guys was the obvious I think pretty obvious number two runner. Not anymore. Who's now the number two rookie running back? This is gonna be tough. Let's go to Matt Well. Now it's down to Ronald Jones Jr. Rashad Penny, and Sony Michelle. In my mind, I think ron Jones has the clearest path to playing time, but that offense is in flux. I believe Dirk Cutter is the first coach to get fired this season, So things are things are gonna be bad in Tampa. I think there's a
real chance you're write about all of that. Yeah, Rashad Penny was a first round pick, but he's getting beat out currently by Chris Carson and Camp. That offensive line is horrible. And get this, the Seahawks backfield was historically bad in the red zone last year. Inside the ten yard line, Seattle running backs head twenty carries for negative three yards last year. Do you know how hard it
is to do that? That's impossible? Do you know you can fall forward forward nine yard human, absolutely, and if you stretched out, probably more than that. So the answer is it's Sony Michelle, it's Churches guy. That's going to be the answer here. I know the knee injury scary, but if he's exactly what Dion Lewis was last year, he's the top ten back. If he's better, which the Patriots had to believe to spend a first round pick
at him, he's gonna be scary good. Brian, uh, even before the injuries to Michelle and guys, I wasn't super high on those guys. I'm not super high on any of these running backs outside of Barkley. So that's not the question. It's not the question, but the question hold on the question was when you sent it the number one rookie runner, you didn't say running back. So the number one runner outside of Jackson, Lamar Jackson, and you should go number two. And I don't care what your
settings are. He's the next Michael Vick. But righty, and he doesn't dogs Lamar Jackson the number two rookie runner behind se Kwon Barkley put it on wax, all right, it's not the peacock off anymore the correct The correct answer is, in fact, Sony Michelle, h for all the reasons Matt gave you, but I will add this in addition, to be a first round talent on an extremely high
functioning offense. And I know he's we're not going to see him for the preseason with the with the injury Scott, and that's just gonna pound down his his his average draft position, which I love. But here's a statue you probably don't know. New England has the most rushing attempts and rushing touchdowns inside the five yard line over the last five years. Belichick loves to use his runners, last
five of them. Well, you know what, we don't. Letn't have five good ones right now and we can get production as we as they proved last year down the stretch second half of the season. Both Rex Burkehead and Diana Lewis were both viable weekly starters, and hey, two touchdowns in Week one was brilliant for a week. The correct answer, Sony Michelle, did anybody go? Is anybody three and O? Do I got anybody left? One? Two, three, four, five, six, seven? Even if you remain three and oh, let's go to
the next question Devanny's hot question. Number four, Colts owner Jim Ursey says that Marlon Mack will have a fifteen hundred yards season. By how many hundreds of yards? Will he be wrong? Brian, I don't know if I can count that high man um. Last year, the Colts running backs combined for about eighteen nineteen hundred totally yards. Among we were Frank Go and Marlon Mack. I know that the Colts seriously address their O line in the draft.
I got Quentin Nelson, made a couple of nice other acquisitions. My boy at the RB scout on Twitter is very excited about the Colts offensive line, but I'm not very excited about Marlon Mack. He's gonna be lucky to total a thousand yards this year. I think he's already hurt heard his hamstring in the preseason. I like Jordan Wilkins. This rookie nine Hines is the rookie everyone's talking about.
But it's just gonna be a rotate a platoon basically there, and he's not gonna get a lot of third down work. I think Hines soaks that up. That seems to be the word. So how many number, how many hundreds? Will he be out? You said a thousand yards? Is that what you said? Six hundred yards off? Yards? Okay? I say he's off by ten hundred yards. Wow, okay, by a thousand a r um he had. He had five eight total yards last year. Yeah, I do part of
my research here. Marlon Mack injured his left hamstring on Thursday night. That's the same injury I am recovering from right now, from Kickball's right. I don't know how many many times I've heard this story. The rounding third pulled up lame, still completed the home run. Well, listeners, you've pulled up lame during the show. I did so. I didn't even go to an online doctor to check out
my diagnosis. I went to a real orthopedic doctor at Tria, and he told me the expectation for this injury is six weeks before you are a full go and chances of re injury or high. So that means Marlon Max probably not coming back to a week two or three. By that time, Niheim Hines has stolen his job. That means Mac is again a backup. Last year, he total five hundred yards in exactly fourteen games, which he'll do again this year, repeat of last year. He's ten hundred yards. Okay,
so last had a hundred yards. So last year he had five hundred eight yards. And then if I take Frank Gore's numbers and I split it three ways between Mac and uh niheim high numbers, Frank left, Um, that's gonna add in approximately two hundred more yards. That gets some seven hundred and now that means Jim Rsay is off by eight hundreds of yards. No chance anybody's left right? Did anybody have eight? It's not fair, it's an it isn't counts. I got one guy, I got two guys
that are left. We'll see if they can go five and oh with this questions. Hot question number five charges wide receiver Mike Williams says he'll have a big role in the red zone. You're buying it, Matt Yeah. Um, they lost Hunter Henry and Antonio Gates. That was of their red zone targets from last year and five of their fourteen red zone touchdowns. Tyrrell Williams only had one
red zone target last year. Travis Benjamin only had two, but Mike Williams only played nine games and he had four red zone targets that was eight percent of his total targets was in the red zone. So if he's healthy this year, let's say he gets eighty total targets and that's kind of a meager amount for for a young wide receiver. That means he'll have fourteen red zone targets. If that percentage holds true, that's more than Henry or
Gates had last season. So yeah, I think he's uh gonna have a decent role in the red zone there straight copied off me. Not much to add. But if they signed Gates, which why haven't they yet? Right? Why haven't they? That'll hurt it a little bit. Would If you Kates doesn't want to be in I think he's like, uh, you know what, wake, Wake not not. I'll sign in about three weeks when you break training camp. I'll show up the third or fourth preseason game and that'll be it.
So I concur with answer is correct? Answer is yes for all the reasons you guys gave. I'll remind people Mike Williams the first round town six foot four, he is a he is built to be a a goal line end zone style uh target, and they will use him there sneaky sleeper. Correct answer yes, alright, guys, did you get it right? We have one winner? Come on, what's your name? By the way, Eric from Eric from New Walming. Either you're very good or you're a bald
face lie or my friend wonderful. He's got a Percy Harvin uh jersey in which I've just taken the Harvard name off of. It's a little ambiguous now, Brad Johnson. It could be Brad Johnson, We're not sure. When we come back, we will look at the at a rookie draft. Rookie drafts only meaningfully last about two rounds. Will go through the average draft position to the top twenty four rookies and tell you whether or not each one of those guys is appropriately placed, or if you should go
higher or lower. We'll start with say Kwon Barkley, and we'll work our way through twenty four other rookies. When we returned to Newall, Minnesota, The Shells Brewery for Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fans, Your distinct Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Welcome back to New Home, Minnesota, The Shells Brewery. We're out in the heartland. Yeah. Live at Fantasy Football Weekly. Paul Charchy and Brian Johnson, Matt Harrison with you all kinds of fun stuff as we This
is my first show. I want to thank Eric Nordquist for filling in last week for me, which was which was great. I mean it's performance not necessarily great, but it was nice. Yeah, it was it was Yeah. Um let's um, let's dive into a rookies. A lot of people playing dynasty leagues in Empire leagues, and their draft is effectively rookies and free agents. And we don't know what the free agents are in your league, but we
know what the rookies are. Let's go through two rounds of of the average draft position of rookies and then I want you guys to tell me whether or not the do the people have it right? So the first the first rookie being taken a stake Kwon Barkley. Clearly they have it right. Everybody good with that? We're good there? Yes? All right? Thumb up two? I got something this, Yeah, giants, guys got a problem. One is too late? Did you be going earlier than one? Uh? He's not in a
bubbles games against you know. I don't want to go into hyperbole here. And somebody brought this up on Twitter, and I was like, yeah, it does feel a little that way. Do you guys remember Adrian Peterson's first preseason game against the Jets? He was awesome, And I already in that preseason game, I'm looking at that going I I've already seen enough to know this guy is not normal and that this thing is going to be special.
Kwon Barkley if he didn't look quite that good, and I'm not saying he's gonna be an Adrian Peterson Hall of Fame caliber career, but just what we saw there. Let me let me put something out there. Church. If Kan has a really, really nice couple of runs in Game two of the preseason and a couple of nice runs in Game three of the preseason and he sits out Game four as he will, does he sneak into the number one overall pick in a redraft league conversation, Yeah,
I think he'll be in. Not to Gurley. I don't think you'll ever get ahead of Girly, but I think he can get to number two. Do you think he should? I don't think. I don't think. I think it would be hard to get people to get moving past Gurly. I don't think I would be would you. I think it sounds fun. Darius right now, it's David Johnson is the one guy. He's threatening and standard. You know that offensive lines would be so bad and nervous. Number two is Darius Guys, that's dead. So now let me ask
you this. So you're in a dynasty league, keeper league, you're Dyce Empire league. Now, where do you take Darius Guys? Knowing he's gonna miss this season, He'll almost certainly be at full speed by this time next year with a full year to recover. Where is the right spot for an enterprising team to take Darius Guys in their rookie raft and basically shelve them. You can probably throw him on an I R spot. Where do you where do
you put him? So? I mentioned it last night when we were talking about this, and uh over a couple of grain belts, I think, yeah, ago a couple of blue Light specials. Um more than a couple. I think that guys doesn't get past the tail end of the first round where there's really good dynasty teams. So you have a roster that's already set, You have a roster that looks like it can contend again. Yeah, Now I'm gonna take guys and just sit on him for a year.
And no, I don't really need this pick, but I'm not going to take a chancy wide receiver late the rookie draft, So I'll take guys and just sit on it and see if I got a good running back in year two. I think you're gonna have to get past the rookie running backs who can probably contribute this year, the Nick Jobs and the carry on John. I think those guys are gone before that. We'll come back and talk about take really quick, though. I mean, if you're
drafting second, your team is probably not that good. I would still almost just take guys and sit on him because I still like him more than any of these other running backs are gonna help. No way I'm blowing my second pick in my rookie draft on a guy who can't help me get all This is better than Michelle. We don't even know for sure he's gonna be the starter next year. Only if you're punting this season as well. Can we move on the money for a let's go faster, Sony.
Michelle is the number three rookie up. Obviously, Matt and I correctly deduced that this is correct, Go ahead, Brian, Uh just end. Yeah, I'll look at New England. I will look at Dean Lewis powering teams with a championship last year? Was he ranked in your preseason rankings last year? Who's that? It doesn't matter. It's not that people are founding the drum for Mike Gillis Lee as you are for Sony Michelle. I am and Jeremy hill Is to outscorche Sony Michelle is here. Love it when Brian goes
full wrestling mode. I feel energy from the people. I feel like I got a beef jerky sitting next to you. Next number four rookie off the board, Rashad Penny. He's got a deal with Carson. As we mentioned before, what do you think? Is this too early? Or is this just right? That's the answer right there. Yeah, well what is it? Is it way too high? He's not even starters and you I don't know. I have I have fourth pick in our Empire draft and I will not be looking at I wouldn't take I wouldn't take him
this night. So we all agree it's too early. Next stop, Ronald Jones. I think he's also in a sneaky timeshare situation with Peyton Barber potentially. I don't think he's not necessarily a pass catching back for Tampa either. I don't know if he's gonna have a field for third downs. Ronald Jones is going into the number five rookie player overall. He's Tampa's runner. What do you think? Not buying it? I think Peyton Barber is the real deal. At least the real deal is Rojoe is at least this season.
And what a tough division too for running. Say Peyton Barber is the real deal? Oh my god? Uh, you got carries to what Jones is one? I got Jones over Penny? Yeah, and it's it's there's a slight edge there. I take him over Penny. But I actually this is about right Penny. I don't think he's a special talent, but he does have some opportunity next the six players. Royce Freeman, he's the presumed starter in Denver. But on PA Show yesterday, we're talking to a guy who food
covers the Broncos. So that man, he's said, dude, shown nothing. He's the absolutely nondescript so far in O t as minicamps. And they think it's going to be a committee. It's gonna be a committee between him and Dante. Is Number six too early for Royce Freeman? Absolutely? If I'm forced to take a Denver running back, I'm taking D'Angelo Henderson, who people have probably forgotten about in the last round of my draft, who they're still excited about in Denver,
somewhat excited about. He didn't do much of anything last year, and he's so small I can put him right in my pocket. Number number seven rookie is wide receiver. D J. Moore is uh, this is Carolina's rookie and our first The first wide receiver is going off the board. I'm more interested in this too. It picks four or five than some of the running backs we've already mentioned. I
am too. I think this is too Actually, if we're gonna say all these running backs are going too early, then I gotta say d J. Moore is going too late. He is flashed consistently in the off season. His first preseason game was fantastic. He will be a Week one starter for Caroline and on a team that needs wide receiver health. He's a first round talent. D J. Moore. I think he's going too late at number at pick
number seven, Let's go to number eight, Nick Chubb. This is the Georgia part of the one to rushing attack to Georgia had with Sony Michelle. He was the thunder to the lightning that Michelle brought. He, though in Cleveland, is locked into a bit of a time share himself. What do you guys think about Nick Chubb here? I I like Chubb's future prospects, but this year, the Carlos Hide thing is a little pesky. I almost treat Chub
like you would treat Darius Geiss. But he'll give you something this year where we hope Carlos Hide is gone by next season and Nick Chubb can take over the first and second down roll by himself with Duke is the third down guy. So I almost treated like a geist. Plus, here's the case I'm gonna make if Carlos Hide pretty good San Francisco to kept him. I don't think Carlos
Hide is very good. And I think you say this for every free agent, like every free agent who leaves the team, they're no good anymore, well Eric any good anymore. Here's the thing. The forty nine is just spent stupid money on Jerick McKinnon and they easily could have given that same money to Carlos Hyde, but they don't think Carlos Hides worth that, so they didn't. We j McKinnon is because we let him walk. Yeah, well you know, Jered mckinnons no Talvin Cook. I'll tell you that much.
And as it's gonna turn out, Carlos Hide is no Nick Chubb. I think Nick Chubb is gonna outperform this number eight overall draft position that he is in right now among rookies. Let's go next to Lions runner carry On Johnson. We've talked about him earlier, splashed a bit in the in the preseason. Do you think this is appropriate for him? I'll go to the carry On desk over here with Matt. I don't know, I'm not We took a little flak for not being excited about the
Detroit backfield. He seems like the favorite, but I still think theo ritic certainly factors in on third downs for the most part. So but I think carry On will probably climb a little bit more so than Freeman and Chub. The geist news I see him taking the biggest leap. But the only worry here is that Matt Patricia, Patriots protege has five running backs in that backfield right now, with Blunt, Abdullah, Zack Zenter. He was he was the
defensive coordinator for the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, but he he he read the offensive playbook and goes, oh, five running backs is a good thing. I'm a little nervous at that. But I think carry On is the most talented back. I think I think this is about the right spot for him. Uh. Number ten, Courtland Sutton wide receiver. What do you think about his prospects here to the Denver passing games? Johnson nothing this year, and I don't know why would he go this high. I'm blanking on the
rookie receiver a few years ago in Denver. Everyone he's not even on roster anymore. Yeah, I'm Sutton. I like receivers that we might get to if you have enough time. Way down the list one, I don't like Sutton either. I think this is too early. The eleventh rookie going right now. It is cow Alvin Ridley from Atlanta. He's hoped, they hope they can just walk into the spot vacated by Taylor Gabriel and that he'll be a starter. Oh, I'm so excited about Taylor Gabriel. It's almost the best
case scenario, right. I don't want any of that right at this point. Let's just when we're looking at these rookies. I play in mostly quarterback flex and or two QBU I want to draft some of these quarterbacks. Let's go to the next player. Number twelve is Lamar Jackson. What do you think of this? It's too late, right, the whole league passed on the best quarterback in this draft, and I hate how he's not the best quarter you will be uh well, when it comes to fantasy it
might be. He's in the mix at four for me, at four in our Empire League, all right, So he's not because I'm because Brian's at three. So Brian's gonna take it any wontter He's got two. If he takes them, I'm going to beat his A. I love Lamar Jackson. We all agree that Jackson's going too late. At twelfth, thirteenth is Michael Gallup. This is the rookie wide receiver for the Cowboys who will slide in for Dez. Bryant had a touchdown last week in uh like yesterday in
the Dallas game. Galloping on draft Day. I don't know. I still think Hearns is the guy there this year. I know it's why love does Hearns bring to the table. I don't know nothing. I'd rather call Breet Beasley than than Herds. That says plenty. Gallops got the opportunity to take over a job. This is the right spot for Gallop. He's probably the best. He might have the best chances in re draft leagues is here. Wide receivers with number fourteen rookie is Chicago slot receiver Anthony Miller had a
nice had a really nice offseason. I'm going to gush about him later in the show hold for them, but needless to say, you think you should go sooner? Yeah? Next up Christian Kirk Atlanta wide receiver is rookie Arizona. Another other city that starts with a one of the other receivers who has a chance to uh contribute a season. So he should be on your radar and redraft leagues. All camp reports on him so far have been terrible.
Though he's been he's been demoted to the second or third team, and they wanted him to slot opposite Larry Fitzgerald. But camp reports are bad. So I think this is too early on Kirk personally. Uh. Number sixteen tight end, Mike Asecki. There's our first time a tight end makes an appearance here. He certainly has an opportunity to get immediate playing time. Well, i've heard he's Well, you can't read too much into the depth chart in the preseason
because especially is always flamm flam. But you know, rookie tight ends, they they struggle mightily in the NFL unless there Evan Ingram, unless their evant, Yeah, then it's all very very special. Miami's got a need for anybody to step up with a pulse in the receiving game. I think this is actually a potentially a little bit low, but we know that rookie tight ends almost never do anything. Evan Ingram was really a once a decade outlier as
as a tight end that did anything in his first year. Uh, James Washington is a guy who can step in and be an immediate starter for a high functioning offense in Pittsburgh. And this is he'll step into the Martavis Bryant role. They had a rookie do this last year. He was really good. Now everybody's drafting him pretty high. There there's an opportunity here for him to be a good, popping off every once in a while week kind of player, a bye week filling is number seventeen player overall about
right for James Washington. It might might tweak up a little bit. Is he a most handcuffed the rare most handcuff among wide receivers if you draft Antonio Brown obviously in the first round. I don't think Antonio Brown's handcuffable. Yeah. I think I can find other help. I think I can find other help. Uh. Number eighteen, Niheem Hines is a guy that we've referenced a couple of times, and many people don't know him. He's a rookie running back
for Indianapolis. A lot of people think, I think rightly so Marlon Mack is nothing special and that there's an opportunity for him to come in and meaningfully contribute. What do you guys think is number eighteen and okay? Spot for him? Yeah? I like that there, that's about right. In PPR leagues, he's gonna be a factor this year. He should see the bulk of their downwork for Indy. Number nineteen, another rookie we've referred to once more one
other time. Klin Blage is this tall rookie running back for Miami, and Frank Gore is getting old, and we've got Kenyan Drake, who actually I like Kenny Drake and these people like Kenyan Drake quite a bit. Blage could be a past catching helper. I think Blage and Gore ruined Kenyan Drake this year. Wow. Really, Yeah, I don't like Frank or can't ruin anybody. They don't. You don't bring to not to not give him two hundred carries, that's a problem. He's had two carries in like twelve
straight years. And this is the year where this is just a veteran presence on the bench if you need him. Kenyan Drake's far better there for his inventor ship abilities. Last guy that I want to last rookie I want to mention as we go through our top to top twenty rookie Josh Rosen quarterback behind Sam Bradford. Rosen's got a chance because Sam Bradford's knees are the question mark
of all question marks, right. Bradford played great in the first week for the Vikings last year, and then his knees kicked up and he was just mysterious lay a full season before that. Yeah, but so we how how is how is he going to react from a health Samand I'd rather have Baker Mayfield or Sam Donald. And Arizona already lost their starting center for the year, which probably helps Rosen get playing time because Sama, he's gonna
get hurt. That Donald the guy out of these that is going to start week one, Ye, Sam, Sam, Yeah, he might be. Yeah, I'm with you on that. I think Tyrod Taylor is gonna be able to hold down the fort in Cleveland, keep Baker Mayfield at bay at least for a little while. The final segment of Fantasy Football Weekly coming up momentarily. We'll unveil our sleepers of the week and take questions from you guys. We need people that want to participate in this show. We've got
a microphone over there. You can come up in line. We are live from the Shells Brewery in Newalm. It's Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. You're listing Fantasy Football Weekly on the Fan. Final segment from New Am. This is Edge. We love you, Thank you for coming. This
has been terrific. We're building a little thing here. This is like the training camp west southwest south south, so we straight south, we were south or were west south south well the southwest training camp southwest south by southwest. There we go. Yeah, I like that. The training camp event, the big training camp event, thousand people next week. That is as always at Cannaba Park in the big Expo center, right, you know, on the grounds and um the catch that
I want to make everybody awhere not catch. We have a different start time. Normally we're tending doon, but the Vikings have a noon kickoff, so we have pregame from you know that'll be happening at that tame. We're right after the Vikings game approximately ten o'clock I'm sorry, approximately
four thirty start time for Fantasy Football Weekly. It's the two hour radio show just like this one, and then it's about ninety minutes of deep dive data after that stuff that it you we use a v It's stuff that's really more complicated than you can talk about on radio. And this is the stuff for people that are really serious about winning your leagues and having a lot of fun and being in a room these got This is
I love the idea that we can do that. Our Outstate version of it here one week early and then we do the full blown training cap next week, so we encourage people to come on and it's free. It is totally free. Shot. He's like minutes from New am Right, you can do can all come up, let's go. We're just talking to there are several people here that drove down from the city's that all have the opportunity will be easier for them to do both. All right, final segment,
we're gonna knock down some sleepers. Then we'll take any questions from the audience. And now is the time start line. You come up to the micup here and um and queue up for that. Brian, let's start with you. Who is your sleeper this week? I'm going Ben Watson at tight end? Who's back in New Orleans. Ben's going like outside of the top twenty tight ends in terms of ADP, which is absolutely nuts. Last year Watson was eight and
catches among tight ends. With the Ravens who deploy like four tight ends on average, it seems like, yeah, uh, he's the only guy in New Orleans. And with New Orleans he was seven top seven in the tight end scoring among the tight ends obviously, so I'm loving Ben Watson, great late round value. Okay, h I alluded to this guy earlier. It's Anthony Miller of the Chicago Bears, currently going in the third teenth round of drafts. He's wide receiver fifty seven. Uh. He's a second round pick out
of Memphis. Only had one target in the preseason game on Thursday. However, it was with the first team offense in the first series of the game from Trubisky. Uh. So many people are comparing him to Antonio Brown. Saw someone on Twitter say that Miller has bigger hands than Odell Beckham, Elite footwork, precise route running creates separation with these quick speed, great hands. Those are just some of the accolades that he's someone on Twitter. Really, am I
supposed to believe someone was at online doctor? Someone on Twitter said that, well, I guess we'll bank on that it was a Chicago Bears beat writer. Sorry at real Donald Trump, there we go. If Matt Naggy's offense is legit, Anthony Miller's a sleeping giant currently going off the board at pick number two hundred ninety four. Is your super
Bowl m v P. Nick Fools? Now, by the way, that's after guys named Bo Scarborough, Kiki Coute, Justin Jackson, Nick Venette, and a guy who currently is not on an NFL roster, Malcolm Mitchell, and you can get the Super Bowl m v P who could very well end up starting the season as the Eagles starting quarterback. There's a plausible scenario here where the the the Eagles just play it safe with Wentz and put him on the
pup list and he wouldn't play for six weeks. There's another scenario whe where full just starts the season because went who they've already said he's not gonna play all preseason, they just start Folds to be safe, and Folds is great and they're winning games, and the timetable and wins gets pushed out is fold is gonna play sixteen games? No? But can he be an awesome, like top five level contributing quarterback for the first month of the season. Yeah,
it could be. You know what Nick Foles is tell me the Guillotine League quarterback of choice. Yeah, that's a great point. He'd be great early on you. You would not get whacked and you're gonna find somebody else's quarterback on the waiver wire soon. Last thing on Nick Fole that heels first four games when I think that he's most likely to play Atlanta, Tampa, Indie, Tennessee rank against the past last year one all on the bottom third. Let's take some questions in our final moments here, what's
your name? Where are you from? And what you got? Drew coming from St. Paul and he's got a baby and my eight month old ones to do the opposite in an Empire league and he running backs in the middle or late in the draft that he should target. Is this the initial year of your Empire league? All right? I love that. What do you guys got? So if you're not gonna take a running back till round four or five or six, who do you like to target
in that spot in a startup? I think you could get Jordan Howard maybe still in the third round, and he's just he's going below Jett and Ckinnon in redraft leagues, which is criminal. I would target Jordan Howard just big time. If it's an Empire start up. Everybody takes the young running backs there, I think, So guess what you take the older running back? You you get all your young
wide receivers in the first three rounds. You take all the older running backs, and and and you try to win this year, and you try to win next year, and you see, you see if you can just do it right away? Yeah, I have people do the Dynasty Leagues all the time. They failed to they failed to take older place. Marshall Lynch, I think is a fantastic in this spot. Yeah yeah, all right, what's your name? Greg?
For new Home, I would like to start off by making emotion that we renamed the Max Williams Memorial Injury Report in Sam Bradford Memorial Injury Report. Um, my question was similar. We just finished up our first Empire League, so thank you. H So restarting with version two, who's a good under the radar quarterback to build around? All? I expect Lamar Jackson will already be gone. Okay, um, what do you guys got? So this is round? I know what Brian is gonna say right now. Mit, Dr Whisky.
You want to make your case, No, everyone does in the office. I get you to stop talking about Miss r Whisky. Then we go on the air. I set you up for Mr. Whisky and you want no part of it. So I'm not gonna lie you tat Matt and that means he was gonna answer this question. So it's a rookie draft year two, or we're doing a completely new league. It's it's so it's the restarting an Empire league that somebody cashed out. Okay, I have an answer. And he's so steady, and he's top ten every year.
And Matt Stafford is the safest pick in an Empire league that you can get, probably at quarterback fifteen, and he's still got a lot of That's a good one. I love Matt Stafford. No one talks about him. I took Patrick Mahomes was my what I made that bold prediction earlier. I love Patrick Mahomes and I build around him. What's your name? Where you from? My name is Isaac
and I'm from Moorhead, Minnesota. What you got? Um? So I own the Shawn Watson in the eighth round and Cam Newton in the second round at like pick fifteen overall. So with having Watson and I'm starved for like wide receivers and running backs, would you keep Newton who's had a good value out of fifteen? With being it's a keepers league, the two quarterbacks one quarterball, Cam Newton, Watson, Keith Watson for sure. Uh, we're out of time. New all.
Thank you. This has been great. Ted Marty, thank you very much for putting this on. It's great to see so many people here. We'll see you at the Fantasy Football Weekly training camp next week Canterbury Park four thirty for Fantasy Football Weekly and all the goodness that comes with it. Talk to than everybody, Bye bye. I know people will get all serious around food. My friend Greg is one of these people. He'll be like, boo, what is that? You got a hog? Yeah, you got a
toasted HOGI bon nice? Is that a tomato peeking out? Um? Yes? And you can stop staring at my HOGI Greg. Head over to Tim Horton's for freshly made to order hogs now just three nine, choice from four tasty options like classic chicken, turkey and gets steak and cheese or Hammond Cheese just three nine.
