Frankne stand ball ladies and gentlemen, your p F. With that, we will get you inside of Studio thirty four. This is the b F S. Here's Frank Stample. I am Greg Sauceman. Welcome to the Trade Deadline edition. Who let's call Gregg a happy Thursday to your happy NBA trade deadline.
We have, of course a lot to discuss, not just with our New York Knickerbockers, but there are a lot of trades being done in the NBA right now leading up to the trade deadline. How you doing, buddy, I'm doing great, Frank, is not just the trade deadline edition, Frankie, Well that is not a four. What's go? It's actually the graphics wrong because because I told him to make it wrong. Um, this is our second anniversary of the show. This is we're beginning year three today. Let's go three
years ago today. I can it's two years ago today, two years ago today. We began together, frank this journey of the fantasy pffs. And here we are two years later, still kicking. Shout out to everybody who is stood with us through thick and thin. Everyone who criticized my singing, We appreciate you, the three of you. Everyone who hated us, we appreciate you two. Not many of you love us, but we're still here. Appreciate the lovers the very few.
Appreciate the haters the very many. You make it all possible. You do. This is fantastic, Bank, This is gonna be a great show. We got so much to cover, so much to celebrate, and over the next hour, yeah, NBA trade deadline stuff to talk about. Before we get to any of that, our buddy Shawn Blossomkia down in the pit is gonna tell you all the ladies of what is going on around the NBA. The trade deadline is here and make it all down. You're sewn sports grade
news update. I'm John Glossomakia with your vff T update a Furrier walkbuster trades. As the NBA trade deadline has just passed three pm Eastern time, that does not mean trades will not be announced after three pm Eastern time. They just need to be into the league office and approved before the deadline. All right, let's get to the trades and some of the news. The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade the' Angelo Russell to the Minnesota
Timberwolves in a deal that includes Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors also will get a twenty twenty one protected first round draft pick and a twenty second round pick, and we'll send Jacob Evans and a Maori Spellman to the tim Wolves. Now the pick is top three protective. Also Andre Drummond. He's going from the Detroit Pistons to the Cleveland Calves. Sources say they will also get John Henton Brandon Knight in return. The Pistons and a second round draft pick.
Now the pick is the lesser of Golden State or Cleveland's twenty three draft pick. How about the New York Nicks. They send their best player, Marcus Morris to the Los Angeles Clippers for a first round pick. Coming back end more artless. Nicks also made new news today They planned to make c a agent, Leon Rose, the franchise's next
president of operation. That is according to S and Y source. Also, William Wesley that's he's known as Worldwide West is understrong consideration to be part of the organized as with the Knicks under Rows. So, guys, just a number of NBA picked trades that we just announced. Um and if you want, we could also talk about MLB news. The New York Mets uh their sell from the Wilpons to um this
hedge fund owner Stephen Cohen. Well, that's all according to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfredso the New York Mets will be looking for new partners if they do indeed want to sell the team. Alright, guys, that's your BFFs news update. Now let's go back to Greg Susman and Frank Standfold. Guys. Here you go back that right there from Sean Glass,
the market and all the update the NBA. It's moving so fast there Sean, it's something as to all of the the man you're you're right, stuff is still gonna creep out, and I'm just waiting for this the other shooting job to do with Andre Drummond. No opinion on this. No, he doesn't like Andre dum He's out on Andre Drummond. Let's see what happens. Yeah, this is baffling Under Drummond over to the Cleveland Cavaliers, obviously a team that's in
no position to compete uh this season. And you know when it comes to under Drummond, look after everything he's done for Detroit for them to just kind of like throw him out there, Greg the you know, Greg Susan walks out of his apartment, he takes a little trash can, he throws it down the shoot in his penthouse apartment in Manhattan. In Manhattan, That's basically what the Pistons just did with Andre Drummond. They just like took him and threw him out for nothing. There you go. You couldn't
see it. Greg just smack the balloon down to the ground. Is gave away for nothing. So we'll see what happens on the Andre Drummond front. See if there's a third team involved, or if he's sticking with the Cleveland Cavalier's gonna be interesting one to uh to follow here, Greg, I don't really I don't really know what the Detroit
Pistons are doing right now. I will tell you this. Nobody, no, neither the top two teams in the Eastern Conference made a deal in Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors stay put, according to Zach Low of ESPN, So they're staying put. The Knicks, we'll start that, Frank, we're Knicks fans, right, So you said for a while you expected the first round pick to come to the New York Knicks in
exchanged for Marcus Morris. And they do get that first round pick alongside Mo Heartless, but it is arguably one of the worst first round picks you can get. It's either going to probably be there thirty or number twenty eight. Yeah, and we still have more information trickling in involving this trade between the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers. We thought all along that they were going to move Marcus Morris because he is on a one year deal,
so essentially a rental for the Los Angeles Clippers. Here, anybody I want anybody else. Well, the other guys don't one year deals too. Yeah, come on, you didn't want Bobby Portis, want over Peyton? Come on? Come on? Anyway, Marcus Morris lanes with the Los Angeles Clippers, and it's a great get for them. You know, a team that would is already competing for the top seed in the
Western Conference this year. Uh. And now I would have to imagine that he kind of uh fits right in either in the starting line up, they could have him come off the bench, he could be the sixth man role. Obviously, from a fantasy perspective, Marcus Morris's production is going to come down. He's not gonna have nearly the same usage rate that he did on the Knicks, the freedom to shoot as much as he did with the New York Knicks. So the fantasy value for Marcus Morris comes down here.
Greg moving over to the Los Angeles Clippers, looking at their current depth chart. Uh, there are people uh seeming that seeming to think that he's going to play. He's gonna start at the four, and then they slide Kauaide down to the three. They put Paul George at the two, and then you have obviously a trio of assets off the bench there with Lou Williams, Montres Harold and Landry Schmidt, whom they did not want to give up to the
New York Knicks in that deal. No, they did not very good defensive team in l A because you mentioned Marcus Morris, while Leonard Patrick Beverley's just started point guard and Paul George. I mean, these guys are really really good defenders. Obviously, they certainly hold their own on the offensive side of the ball as well. The Clippers is gonna be a very, very tough team in the playoffs and obviously a tough out in the playoffs as well.
The Lakers and the Clippers were both fighting for Marcus Morris, but the Lakers would not give up Kyle Kuzma. Obviously, the Clippers gave up enough in Mo Harkless and that first round pick to get it done. Isaiah Thomas also gonna come off the bench of the Clippers as he was acquired in this deal, which technically with a three
team deal as well. Three team deal, So what was the third team was the Washington Wizards, and they sent over Jerome Robinson, the former lottery pick who really hasn't had any opportunity to play in the NBA, so he goes over to Washington. Washington takes a stab at him and see, look to see what you got in the kid? Right, he was a former lottery pick, someone who is viewed as a scorer. But him back to back to back yes for the Los Angeles Clippers, and now neither remains
on the Clippers. Year later, Isaiah Thomas coming over to Los Angeles. There interesting. He already has some experience playing in Staples, former Los Angeles Laker. He was there for a brief in but former fortifying their bench even more again one of the best benches already in the league. Lou Williams and Isaiah Thomas played next to each other. Yeah, I mean it's not great. Defensively, there's yeah. I don't think they want to start Isaiah Thomas either, because they
want pat Patrick Beverley in that starting lineup. Uh, the ferociousness, the defense that he brings for the Los Angeles Clippers as well. So you ask me, I think we're looking at Beverly, Paul, George Kawhi, Leonard, Marcus Morris, uh and Ivica Zubats as the starting five for the Clippers, and then obviously you have four legitimate players rounding out a nine man rotation for the Clippers there out in Los Angeles. Yeah. Absolutely, the good rotations, the deep rotation for the Clippers. They
did well. I think you're very satisfied if your Clippers fan, what you give up? What you got Marcus Morris one of the guys that are on the market that could really help you right now. Nicks they do get a first round pick. I think they finally the smart thing. Um. But before we hit the break, Frank, speaking of smart things and nixs, did they hired a new president basketball operations? Won't be an Aouked for a while, but Leon Rose give be the next president of basketball operations with world
Wide West. You heard from Shawn a second ago with Worldwide West coming in as well. We're thinking this decision. It seems a little rust if we're being honest. You know, they just let go of Steve Mills forty eight hours ago, and all the talks about trying to bring in someone who has experienced in the Massayu Jerry maybe as Sam Presty. Uh, you know, those were those were the pipe dreams, right,
trying to make that happen. Obviously, you would have to give up some compensation to get those UH front office executives to the New York Knicks. But this is a trend that we've seen in the league now with Rob Polinka taking over as the GM of the Lakers and Bob Meyers as the GM of the Warriors. And look what those guys have been able to do. Yes, if they've been able to bring in a lot of stars, but they're also competing for championships. So let's see how
it works out for the Knicks. Let's talk about Andre Drummond and Andrew Wiggins on the other side. This are you ready for the nation's first and only free network dedicated to you, the betting and fantasy sports enthusiast. Sports Grade will provide you with a real time content, statistics
and gaming intelligence unlike anything you've ever seen before. Located both in the Harvor of New York City and inside the FanDuel Sports work at the meadow Lands Sports Crade, He's live eighteen hours a day here to serve you the fanatic. This is sports Crade. Get off the grid right back here. The f f's to our celebration. Frank, You're not happy. We're kicking off our third year together. Let's go pray deadline. Did you did you think two years ago you still be here doing this with me?
Of course I did. There's no place I'd rather be Greg throwing balloons in the air inside our studio. That was a famous lyric from a pop song that you definitely love. There's no place I'd rather be using the song not me, as you can tell. That's right, believe which is not? Then nobody's arrived. No trade deadline? Friend, someone explained to me, I don't care if it's you.
I don't get if anybody in the pain, anybody watching us right now in sportscrid did right tradeing away Andre Drmond, Which makes sense, right, They're not gonnaing him back next year, opted up his contract and get paid a lot of money, paid a lot of money, you think, But they traded him for nothing? Why not? Ah? How did serious? How did the New York Nicks get more for Marcus Morris than the Detroit Pistons got for Andre Drummond? And even
further than that, let's take it one step further. Why are the Cleveland Calves the team to go out and trade for Andre Drummond. They're clearly not competing this year, and then they didn't even ship out Trisan Thompson either, Greg. So, now if you own either one or let's say both of them, which I do in multiple fantasy maskets, upset, how did the minutes breakdown? Obviously, Andre Drummond's gonna start.
He's a far superior player than Tristan Thompson. You'd have to imagine Drummond plays his thirty to thirty two minutes to night, and what does that leave for Tristan Thompson sixteen to twenty minutes per game? Look at this season, it's I mean the rebounds seventeen point eight points, fifteen point eight rebounds. And you know what people always sleep on. The defensive numbers that Drummond puts up, Greg, just absolutely ridiculous from a center two steals per game, one point
seven blocks per game as well. So regardless of you play in a categories league or in a points format, we know that the defensive numbers are worth a lot in the points format as well. Andre Drummond is just a stud from a fantasy perspective, but perhaps his minutes come back a little bit here. He's got to share the ball a little bit more with now, with guys like Kevin Love, with Collins Exton, guys that have high usage rates, who are not shy, They're going to get
their shots up. So I think drummonds fantasy value takes a little bit of a step back. Here, Greg Christian Thompson's fantasy value takes a huge step back. And amongst all of this, we're left trying to figure out why, just why did this happen? Why? Why are the Cavs a team that's trading for Drummond. Why isn't a contending team trading You're telling me the Celtics couldn't have put together a better trade package than John Henson, Brandon Knight and the second round pick. I don't get it. The
Celtics couldn't pull that off. Not, of course they could have, I don't. I know they like Daniel Tyson and his cancer, but not more than Andrew Drummonds obviously not. I don't. It's crazy. I don't know, so weird, I don't know. I mean, it's clear that the Pistons wanted to clear up space and clear up room. I don't get it. Other than that, I really don't. And now there are rumors of the Pistons potentially buying out Reggie Jackson's contractors.
De Row still on this, why is there exactly like, this is what we'd be saying about the Knicks if they didn't trade away Marcus Morris, right, Like, why are the since keeping Derrick Rose, unless, of course they think he's their point guard the future. But I believe he's on a short term contract as well, if not a one year contract for Derek Rose, I'm sure it is. So even if he's not, I'm sure you could have found a suitor out there, a contending team that wanted
Derrick Rose off the bench because he's been phenomenal. It's a career renaissance for Derrick Rose. You know, he's averaging around seventeen eighteen points. Well, I never really understood the Lakers because you have to surround Lebron with shooters. Derrick Rose is not a good shooter. So that's why I never really understood that from the get go. But the Pistons just making a lot of really weird moves or
or lack of moves too. While we're at it, speaking a big time centers, Cella was traded a day or so ago. It feels like a week ago now, but he was traded days ago to Atlanta. It was like a four team deal, the most players traded since Patrick Ewing was traded twenty years ago. And essentially what you need to know is Capella heads over to Atlanta, Robert Covington heads over to Houston, and I guess it's really all you need to know, to be honest with you. Yeah,
Malik Beasley in Minnesota. Now, Frank, they're gonna start PJ Tucker at center. Paul is PJ Tucker. He can't be bigger than six seven at max six seven, six eight seven, he can't. He can't be bigger than that, So he's six. This is do their story and center. I get the Andre I get the Audrey Igudala death line. I will get to him in a moment, but you're talking about he is listed according to Wikipedia at six five. He's a great rebounder, though gritty ball player. He's a great rebounder,
is a good defender. But like, I don't understand that. We're gonna get a vision of it tonight in the Lakers Rockets game. How this guy is expecting to stop Nicola Yoki Ry Gobert, Anthony Davis, Montrese, Harrold Exactly. I have no idea. Yeah, I mean, rebounding is gonna be a huge issue for the Houston Rockets, and they already had trouble defending specifically in the interior as well. Right, So now you use Clint Capella, who's one of the
better rim protectors in the NBA. You see here's averaging one point eight blocks per game, much like Andre Drummond, one of the better rebounders in the league. Two up over thirteen rebounds per game, almost fourteen rebounds per game here for Clint Cappela. So and he was great in the pick and roll with James Harden and Russell Westbrooks. So he afforded them, uh something like a different look. He afforded them something different there. But here's what I
will say, Greg. According to stat mus, I saw this last night and I thought it was really interesting. The Rockets are ten and one without Clint Cappella in the lineup this season. There are five and oh in games where no Rockets players taller than six six play more than ten minutes. So they are dominating in games where they are playing small ball. So if they're looking at
this analytically, albeit a very small sample size. Again, this is just you know, five and oh and ten and one, so we're looking at a five game sample size and an eleven game sample size. Uh. They have played well with these small ball lineups, So yes, your your question is valid. How are they going to stop centers in
the west and how are they going to rebound? But on the other side of that, you also have to ask the question, um, how are opposing teams going to keep up running up and down the court With the Houston Rockets playing the small ball lineup which will likely feature Tucker Russell, Westbrook, Robert Covington, James Harden, and then a mixing match of Eric Gordon, Austin Rivers, Daniel House, whoever you want in there, who can come in and
shoot threes. Those are a lot of guys that can pull from deep and they get up and down the court quickly. So to me, that's the biggest Those are guys are the biggest benefactor over these deal because you're gonna see a whole lot more than McLamore, Eric Gordon, Daniel House, those are the all Austin Rivers, those are the guys are gonna be out there all the time as they basically go with the Villanova style offense, right
four guards at all times on the court. Yeah, and you're talking about you mentioned the death lineup right with the with the Golden State Warriors when they had Andre Iguodala and and Andre uh not Andre Drummond, Raymond Greene, and they're playing small a smaller lineup where Draymond is at the five, and you don't really have anyone on the floor that's big or than you know, six ft eight,
six ft nine, when they had Durant as well. Obviously, look, they had superstar caliber athletes and players, but you still have Russell Westbrook and James Harden on this team. And then Covington, who is a good defender and he can knock down three, so he fits the mold there with D'Antoni very well where he can, you know, just come in and help them shoot from the outside. That's all
the Houston Rockets seemingly want to do. And then p J. Tucker, albeit a smaller player, is a very good rebounder and a good defender as well. And then you have that rotation of House mc lemore, Eric Gordon, and Austin Rivers.
So they're playing their own brand of basketball. It's not really something that we've seen before, but it's gonna be It's gonna be interesting tonight, specifically going up against a team that the craziest part differs them entire So this is this is a team that basically features the Twin Towers right at all times, Like you have a JaVale McGee or Dwight Howard along with Andre Drummond on the court at all times. So we don't have to wait
Andre Drummond. My name's are all over the place, Greg, But we're gonna find out right away tonight the differing styles, who has the advantage there? And if we're just looking at the spread, it's been climbing big time in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers. I'm sure that has something
to do with Russell westros status questionable. I mean, you just look at the Western Conference right and that's what I did, and trying to examine this trade currently the Rocks of the four seeds, it seems in front of them Lakers. You just described polar opposites, Los Angeles Clippers polar opposites. Not necessarily's only plays about twenty minutes per game. Just Harrold plays a lot high. Yeah, but Harold is not a big guy. He's like six nine. No, he's
not a big guy. He's a good rebounder for sure. You think of him, he's he's more of that. He's a bigger guy. He's he's a more post presence type player where he makes his living in the paint. But he is not a big guy by any means. Greg, all right, that's interesting. I wouldn't. I would have taken the over there the Nuggets with nikoliok. Yep, he's a
large man. Rudy Gobert on the Jazz, he's a large man. Um. The thunder are interesting obviously if Steven Adams in the middle, and then they have New Orleans Nowell who comes off the bench, so they always have a big on the court as well as Coursings, but they can't they don't play right out of the perimeter for the most part. And then the Grizzlies are interesting too. Um, and those are the eight teams right now. Portland's my Plazers will
get there at some point. This has to be financial related, right six sevens Montros Harold for the record, it has to be financial related why they traded away Clint Capella. And I don't think that the Rockets are trying to make a stand like we're changing basketball. We're gonna go with the lineup that features nobody over six ft six so so I don't think it's about UM. I don't think it's about making a stand. But I do think that they realize what you did, how good they are
UM play small ball. I think they can definitely save money and give themselves flexibility. Now you look at all any of these biot candidates. You mentioned Reggie Jackson for instance. I'm not saying he's a fit, but like you look at all these biot candidates, they can go all in. They have a twelve million dollars they could spend at the moment and going forward, they have some ways to maneuver.
And Daryl Morey always likes to trying to fix things, no matter what you saw, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, year after year he tries to make a change. This is this year's change. Is it gonna work? Have no idea? I have no idea. Yeah, I don't think anybody really knows. He seemed perfect for this team for me, yeah. Again, a rim running center when you have two of the better pick and roll point guards in the NBA and
James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Uh And again James Harden in the pick and roll is just an absolute nightmare because you know you step up at all and then he's looking at Clint Cappello with the alley you U and the Russell Westbrook. Once he goes around the pick, I mean, he can literally just explode to the basket before you know what, he's dunking in your face. But I'm looking at the contract of Clint Capella here Greg and he is signed through the three season. Uh, and
he's making sixteen million, seventeen million, eighteen million. I think he fits what they were trying to do. You ask me this is nancial related. I don't think it's just they're looking at, oh, we're a better team without Clint Capella, because ultimately I don't think that's true. We're coming to it. Obviously fits in there as well, the defender, which is obviously always US Rockets need. When we come back, we'll talk about he thinkgest trade spart today Inst'angelo Russell for
Andrew Wiggins. How does this work out? For both of those teams. We'll tell you. Why do we come back here on the Bfox. Are you ready for the nation's first and only, free, twenty four hour network dedicated to you, the betting and fantasy sports enthusiast. Sports Grade will provide you with a real time content, statistics and gaming intelligence
unlike anything you've ever seen before. Located both in the heart of New York City and inside the FanDuel Sports Book at the Metal Lands, sports Crade is live eighteen hours a day here to serve you the fanatic. This is Sports Grade. Get off the grid. You have to continued roll on here on a Thursday, trade deadline has just passed in the n b A. I gonna treat Andre Drummond like that Greig, because that's how the Pistons traded him. You're not kidding, that's right. Um. Andrew Wiggins,
Andiangel Russell, two names. Have we talked about being traded for a while for each other. It actually happened. There's a lot of smoke and ultimately there was fire with Wiggins going over to Golden State, the Angel Russell going over to Minnesota called of picks involved as well. I thought, Um actually thought Golden State did well, though I've seen a lot of backlash like what are you doing? Why are you making this trade? I don't get it, but
I do. I do think it makes a lot of sense to be honest with you other like they're not playing for this year. I don't care about this year. We all know that Andrew Wiggins has a big time contract and you're you're stuck with it. But going forward, you have replaced Harrison Barnes, who overplaced Kevin Durant. Andrew Wiggins fits that mold. He is comes with that kind of expectancy. You have your backcourt. D'Angel Russell didn't really fit necessarily with Stephen Curry and Clay Thompson. I think
Andrew Wiggins does more. I like the fit and if Steve Kurren get the best out of Andrew Wiggins, I think Bob Meyer's in a nice job here. Yeah. I don't hate this deal either. And you know, look, Andrew Wiggins, say what you want about him, He's never really been in a position to succeed. Has he been a let down based on the hype he had coming into the NBA? Yeah,
I think that's probably fair to say. But now he's gonna have an opportunity, it's starting next year, to compete for an NBA championship in a lineup that includes, uh, Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green. So obviously they're gonna bounce back next season. And then whoever they get in the draft, they're gonna have a top five pick in the draft. I mean, if you add James Wiseman to that crew or whoever else they want to bring in, I think bringing in a big man
makes more sense there. For the Golden State Warriors. Uh, then obviously they're look, they're gonna be right in the thick of things come next year. And I don't think that D'Angel Will Russell was the answer playing alongside Clay Thompson and with Steph Curry. What the Minnesota Timberwolves get here is they finally get a point guard, right because they've been searching for a long time for that point guard.
I mean, no, Daniel Russell and Karl Karl Anthony Towns are good friends and they've long been rumored to wanting wanting to play together. So now that comes to fruition. I know earlier today when the Knicks picked up Leon Rose as their new president of basketball operations. Greg, the first thing people thought was, well, he's the agent of Karl Anthony Towns. How can we get Karl Anthony Towns
to the New York Knicks. And then people started thinking, well, if we get the Angelo Russell to the New York Knicks, maybe that will lower Karl Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks. Ultimately, like it always does, Uh, it did that happen? It fell through for the New York Knicks. Um, but they will be playing together now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and I think it's interesting to look at that line up,
especially from a fantasy perspective. Here, Greg just trying to figure out who is going to start for this Minnesota Timberwolves team. Obviously you got Russell, you got Karl Anthony Towns, and then you fill in the blanks with the two, three, four. Personally, I think it will be Jared Colver, who was their first round pick this year. You have Joshua Koge at the three now that Robert Covington has gone, and then
you have Wanto hernan Gomez at the four. He comes over from the Denver Nuggets and I believe Malik Beasley will likely be the sixth man off the bench, so definitely definite value. You know, Kogee Wanto, Hernon Gomez and Malik Beasley getting more minutes with Minnesota here. Yeah, we'll see how this Timberwolves line up shakes out. I totally agree a lot of what you said that Dangel Russell is apoint gonna have been waiting for Carlo any Towns.
They wanted to play together. Ultimately, Russell decided to sign with the Warriors over the Timberwolves this offseason. You new Minnesota was interested, and really since the day he signed, there's been talk of being shipped over to Minnesota, and now it's happened. This is the vision of the new GM with the Timberwolves, is the vision of Ryan's honors to para De'angel Russell with Carl Ampy Towns, and it's we're gonna see if this will work. Both players are
still young. I know it doesn't feel that way. How old do you think T'angel Russell is? Greg twenty three years old? Is turney twenty four in just about two weeks time, but twenty three years old. Yeah, it feels like he's been around for every even four teams. Ready, right, It's not like he's bad. He's gotten so much in his prime. Yet he's last year in Brooklyn when he was the focal point of that offense, and yes, this year in Golden State, I guess you could say he
was the focal point. But I mean, let's be honest, what were the Warriors paying for? They were never playing for anything this year. As as soon as Steph Curry went down with the injury, and even before that, the Warriors look terrible to start off the season. It was it was always gonna be kind of a a letdown year for the Warriors. They kind of reset year for
the Golden State Warriors. So now look, the Timberwolves are not going to compete for anything this year, but at least they have their young core of the future, Greg Carl, Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, and then if Jared coul can uh develop into that third option for this team, a three indeed type player, maybe someone who gives you fifteen points consistently. I think they have a nice young core there. With Minnesota, I agree. I think they're building it the
right way there. He's gonna be a tough of space. Now you're out of Andrew Wiggins contract, so you have some flexibility. And that's the name of the game here in the NBA, is that flexibility. Speaking of flexible teams, the Miami Heat have been very, very flexible this uh this trade deadline because they've tried to make a ton of moves. Franks put themselves a position to win the Eastern Conference and get to the NBA Finals. You heard
about them being interested in andre Igudala. They pulled it off. Dala is coming over from Memphis alongside Jay Crowder, two playoff tested veterans. That's gonna fit well with the young Miami team, along with Jimmy Butler. I mean, that's a mean, mean team. You get rid of Deon Waiters, get rid of James Johnson, Gorgy Dang comes back here. Um, the Heat gets tougher. That's like the one word that comes
to mind. Tougher. Yeah. Look, you want to talk about what we were just talking about, a three and D layer in Jaredover and Robert Covington's This is a three n D team, right. You might not think that because Jimmy Butler is not a three point shooter, but look at the other players. That are surrounding them, Tyler Hero a great three point shooter, Duncan Robinson, great three point shooter. Uh and now under ego, Dallas comes in and he can shoot a little bit from the outside, but brings
that veteran leadership to the Miami Heat. And according to the Action Network, I saw that the updated odds for the Miami Heat to win the NBA Championship this year. Uh they went from twenty five to one to sixteen to one. Uh and if you check out the Vandal Sports book, they still have it at twenty three to one. So you're getting some value right now on the Miami Heat again if you think they can make it that far. But I would say that they're one of the top
two or three teams in the Eastern Conference. It seems like it's the Bucks and then everybody else. Honestly, But would it surprise you if the Miami Heat push the Philadelphia seventy sixers to a seven game series, if they beat the Boston Celtics, that wouldn't have a prize me. This Miami Heat team plays defense, they're gritty, Jimmy Butler is their superstar. They have another veteran leader in Andre Iguodala,
they had young players that can shoot Jay Crowder as well. Uh, and then you know Baman of Bio, who might be the most improved player in the NBA. Sans brandon Ingram, I think the Miami Heat compete in the Eastern Conference. Juice Winslow also leaves Miami, and he's never healthy anyway, So I think it's a great job by pat Riley here improving the Miami Heat team. The only thing that sucks about this trade is that they don't play the Memphis Grizzlies anymore this year. I wanted to see John
Marett go up against Iguodala, Man and Dylan Brooks. After all the chatter back and forth Triple Jay two man Triple J as well um Nate Duncan John Aldre have been doing a or John Honger rather have been doing a running blog on the main trades. DeLine at the Athletic and Nate Duncan kind of broke down the Andrere
Dalmond trade a little bit. So essentially, Detroit Pistons by unloading Andre Drummond and bringing back nothing in return, they free out a ton of cash based right, because you have a whole that Andre Drummonds player option, assuming he could optate. It's a twenty eight million dollar option. He could opt into that. So he's not going to. He could, there's always a chance, but he's not going to. He'll get a max whatever, four year max contract for something.
Don't know that he does. The NBA is not built for these guys anymore, you know what I mean? Like maybe I just he's gonna ton of money, maybe obviously million. Now it's a lot of money. So let we continue. So Detroit reads of all that cap space and they're gonna have like thirty million under the cap next year when most of these teams they don't really have much suspend. Okay, so they're banking on that. The Cavaliers are banking like, hey,
we got Andre Drummond. Maybe we'll resign Andre Drummond and they'll attract other free agents. Or we got Drummond and he's gonna help our rebuild. It's two teams are kind of in similar positions that swapped. The Cavs had cap space and they use that caspace potentially on Andre Drummond. Do they have cap space though they do, they got rid of it now by taking on contract and like Tristan Thompson still has money on its contract. Ken under a max contract. Is that Tristan Thompson is a likely
free agent and then he could be bought out. Okay, they'll be brought out now, yes, potentially, Okay, so the landing spot for Thompson is Los Angeles. I think Los Angeles. Well, they just traded away Clint Capella doesn't even want a center. I don't know. It doesn't cost him as much. But he was always linked to the Clippers as well, so that wouldn't surprise me. And he's teach an upgrade over he's an unrestricted free agent after this year. Okay, yeah
they have he's going to be bought out. Yeah, he's gonna land with probably Houston or the Clippers. I think that makes a lot of sense. Probably. I don't know what space the Clippers haven't at the market's Morris deal right what they need, but yeah, they might have to waive somebody the funy way to make it work if they If they can, Houston makes a lot of sense to me, although I believe him the engine was hard in both dated kloe Ardashian's I don't know how that works, honest,
Esca bros. Um, never bind it like that. So so there you go. Um, those are the major's trades. Am I missing anything? Frank? Uh No, those were the ones that made the headlines. Um, but there was really nothing else. Yeah, we got through Marcus Morris. We spoke about Clint Capella from the other day. Well, let's go back to Clint
Capella for a second grade. What do you think about this from a Atlanta Hawks perspective, Because I think if you put much like James Harden, Try Young is not James Harden yet, although he might be, you know, slowly making his way there. Uh, you put Tray Young in the pick and roll with Clint Cappela, that's pretty damn interesting. John Collins is not really a stretch for yet. I think like they're trying to help him develop an outside shot. He's more so known as someone that can finish around
the basket. I think he has a solid mid range jump shot, but the athleticism is really what plays up there for John Collins. So it's an interesting mix with him and Clint Cappella on the court. But if he could continue to expand that range and you have a core of Trey Young, Gon Collins and Clint Cappela, that's pretty damn good in the Eastern compere, it is. It's nice step forward for the Houston Rockets. The celebration or

We're not just celebrating the NBA right downline, We're not just celebrating a brand new president of Basketball Operations, Frank. We are celebrating our second anniversary together. Your three begins today. And because you know it wasn't just you and I that began this venture together, that was only right that we bring in our buddy, I go Floria celebrating with us. Up, guys, guys,
how are you We're good? We are We're celebrating together. We are celebrating the anniversary. Gregg. It's smacking balloons the studio right now, Mike, while he's talking to you. I expect nothing less than Greggy. Yeah, how are you doing, man? What's going on? What's what's going on in your world? Oh? My world? I mean right now, I'm currently outside and it's very nice out, so I think it's the weather wise, at least probably a little bit better than your guys world.
And other than that, getting ready to baseball, you know, finishing up some football stuff, and uh, that's it, Mike. It's forty degrees in reigning here today in the New York, New Jersey area. Don't you miss it? No, today it is a cold day in l A. Actually it's sixty three degrees. Well, thank you, thanks, Mike. Thanks for rubbing it in our face. It's a cold day here, sixty three degrees. Mike. We know that you are a die
heart Nick fan as well. You wrapped the Knicks hoodie through thick and thin while you're out there on the West Coast, even with people pointing and laughing at you for being a Knicks fan. How do you feel about everything that has happened today, your boy mart Marcus Morris is gonna be playing in the Staples Center with the Clippers. And then obviously they name Leon Rose, who is a player agent, as the president of basketball just right. Other than like Rich Paul, he's like the player edge, he's
the player agent. Yeah, they went to Metro here hiring a former agent. I hope, you know. Definitely we call the Warriors route here Floria like a winning team ideally, no, because I mean the mix are way more like the Mets than they are the Warriors. I mean, let's just be honest. At least at least the Nicks tried to sell. You think that like they'd accomplish it. Oh yeah, and they wouldn't have, you know, the owner's cry baby son
trying to ruin it. Actually be fair, that's currently with the Knicks half because his father, uh probably wanted to sell and then his son crimes and no, let me run it, let me run it. And they haven't one sense. Yeah, James Dolan, I mean him and and not to go on, the Mets stand him and Jeff upon are basically too insane, like they need to have everything their way and they're like spoiled bread, you know, and I can't blame him.
I was brought up a billionaire. I'd probably want everything at the click snap of my fingers too, But it's not good for business, and they've proven they're not. You know, it's gonna win. I like this president signing, at least the sounds of it. It sounds like he is Cat Ties, and Cat is the player that I'm hoping the Knicks get this off season, even though they just got the team will just got below, So I don't know if
they're gonna be looking at trade Cat now. But that was the one exciting part I took away from it. I will say this in regards to the New York Knicks. They send out Marcus Morris, they received back the Clippers first round pick right to swap Ella the Clippers first round pick. Why would you want that right? The Knicks are not going to be better than the Clippers next year, Greg, but if they are right, they can swap right. There's always a chance. More heartless, I love him, Uh the
rights to it is a sonnon that. You know who that guy is and I'll look him up in a second. And the Clippers probably was playing with a Mari Staudermier in the Israeli DA last year. I think this guy's not as round. Uh, and the Clippers second round pick, which is from Detroit guys, Mo Heartless gets to go home. So that's the one little cool moment of this. He's just think some John's kid. I think have been the show, Harkless.
I really thought you were gonna go with um coming home, like, instead of doing the whole video package for Mellow, we could just do it for Mo Harkless. So I guess you're wondering us off. Sannon is a Ukrainian professional basketball player, all right, if they're plays in the Slovenian League. Steve Satimy right now have more. I was gonna say it, but then I felt like that was something you would
get mad at me for saying. But I guess we've hung around long enough together that our tendencies rub off on each other, That's right. The one cool fact I have on Mo Harkless is uh, I watched a lot of Clippers games. Now I don't have the Lakers on because they're not They're only on slick Providers. So I watched a lot of Clippers. Harkles can guard one through five and he's done it this year, So they don't
really care about Mo. Yeah, they're not. He's probably gonna be bought out by the next no, no, no, let him play off. So I'm on us of Satten's um Wikipedia, right, so I told you he's Ukrainian Slavenian. On the last line, he says, this is amazing. He will also be the saviors the New York Knicks knee when he makes the jump to the NBI. Someone to put that on his How old is he years old? Twenty years old? Alright,
who knows? Maybe that's the next Bogdan Bogdanovitch. Right, it's always comes over from overseason, you know, turns the Knick's fortunes around, because you know we've seen so many players do that before. All Right, thetball who do you got? That sounds kind of that sounds kind of familiar, like like it would be great if the Knicks to go out and get a great European player, someone who could come over and energize the fan base. It sounds kind
of familiar. He watches the show Prison Break to learn English. You're learning a lot on his Wikipedia page. Uh, Greg, Mike, you mentioned, uh the Knicks finding their European star. You know, if they ever do get that player, maybe they'll end up trading him away for a player they could have drafted the next year, and cap space for players that they'll use, that they'll sign. That are are four power forwards,
I think. So you know you nothing were its better in the NBA than a lineup of all powerfullards and the mix approving that every single night. And we'll say this when more notable. Man, you saw last year making quick the Adriotic Liga e b A the average four points with one and a half rebounds, one point six assists. That's it. You know what, Christops Porzingi didn't do much in the Spanish, So you know what we still have hope for. Say his name use have shot? Yeah, that guy.
I'll tell you this, Frank, it looks cool. He looks cool. All right. Well, you're a big subscriber to the cool name theory, but I guess now you're moving on to the if you look cool that counts you gotta do, you know, you gotta do. Has been great for you. Some guys just had to look. Man, that's a floria. That's why I've always liked you, man, Always like right, he's got a cool name. All right, Floria, we have you for a coupe more minutes before we wrap up
today's show. Um, I saw you. You tweet out and baseball stuff. You guys always been Blakes. Now you you wrote an article on Blake's Now this year. I texted you. He did not respond because I obviously didn't read your article, but I wanted to know if it was a good or bad Blakes No article. First of all, Gregor, you were wrong. I did respond, I just didn't respond right away. I responded before I texted you about coming on. I said, quote, I'm in. I'm just gonna have a meeting. Should I call? So?
I thought the I'm in had to do with I mean, I'm ready for the show. I'm in. No, he's in on Blake's No, how could not be? I guess my tweet my text of Frank, but wait, my text of Floria was quote are you in? That was That's exactly the point I was gonna make that like it wasn't like I just wrote for no reason. Like he specifically said in a round and capitalized in Mike, I I missed you here on the show because I don't have someone to help me gang up on Greg like this often.
This would be great if we can do this more often. Here it was it was like text, I'm in on blakey Blake, you know. I mean, I know. It's no surprised wasn't on him a couple of years ago. I wasn't on him last year. But I think the thing last year, it wasn't like, you know, the talent wasn't there. He just got hurt. And the first injury, I mean, I don't think there's any way to dispute it. It was a fuck injury. He dropped the piece of furniture on his foot. I don't think that is a reoccurring
injury that we have to worry about. The second one not so much. Elbow injury. That's a little scary. And in my article I wrote about it, the usage of Snell really changed. If you remember he went on the the I l in. I think it was still a deal back then, and he went there on the in July and when he came back. Since then, his pitches per game are down like fifteen per start. His innings pitch per game are down the whole inning per start,
So that is worried him. Last year. Early in the year before Snow got hurt, they were pushing him six seven innings the start, but then when he came back, I mean when he came back in September, we really never saw the full Blake Snell and I think he even admitted he wasn't fully healthy and he's taking every
precaution he can. Like I read a whole thing on the Athletic Plug Fernando and those guys that Blake Snow went to camp earlier this year, like earlier than ever, weeks before players have to report, because he said his health is what he's fully focusing on. He's diving, he's a doing different workouts to kind of try to maintain that health. I think the talent is absolutely there, and if you look at where he's going, there's guys who
have durability concerns. To Chris Stale like, we can't Are we able to guarantee that Christal is going to go more innings than Blake Snell? I don't think so can we do it? For Steven Strassburg, Yeah, he went two hundred last year, but coming into last year and for years the argument was always, hey, is this guy ever gonna stay healthy? He did it once, no guarantee to do it again. Plus he had to pitch deep into the playoffs in the World Series and not always scares me.
So I think Blake Snell is going in the right spot. And it's it's that group of pictures that have like they're not the elite class. They have these stuff where they could enter that class, but can we see them put it together over the course of two hundred plus innings. You gotta pay up for the talent. And it's the reason why he's going, you know, a little bit later
than guys like the gram and Cole and stuff. He I think, you know, if you have the ability to match those guys, maybe a little bit less and maybe not. The stuff isn't fully on part, but it's pretty damn close. Personally, I have moved Blake SNeW up my draft board because he reverred to steroid users as buff. So I like
Blake Snell because of that. Mike, I know you're doing a lot of NBC Draft Champions drafts right now, and stupid me took James Paxon in the sixth round yesterday, but I followed that up with Carlos Carrasco and Zach Gallon, so hopefully that covers my bases a little bit. And they also just took Edwin in Carnascio in the eleventh round, so I know he's someone you like this here too. Why didn't you take you? Who's looking like? He's in
the queue? Man? He really is looking like and he keeps making these hype videos and I'm like, what are you trying to hype up? You don't look good. He's hyping up and he's been eating burgers. All right. When we do our fat guy free you can come on and talk about you had assess for us. He's a fat guy now and and freak. I feel bad about James Pattson. There's nothing you could have done there like
I saw it. And my initial reaction was like, thank god I haven't been drafting him everywhere because normally I am. I don't. This year, I'm kind of fallen, not like I'm I'm avoiding Paxson or anything, but he wasn't like a guy that I was like, you need to get him. But I feel bad for you. Man, that's just bad luck, all right, followed Floria at Michael F. Florio on Twitter at MIKEA. We appreciate the time. Congratulations on not two years.
You know you're not here, We're on the show. Congratulations all of you guys. Let's go. We did it. That's not strike the last man of survivors. We did. We did it for all, coach to coaches up next, everybody downstairs or Frank, I'm great. We're all going tomorrow, we hope.
