This yes, the Fantasy best Friends Forever. Here on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network, alongside Maria Marino and Frank Staffele. I'm Gregaus and Maria, did you get this like a camera on you this entire time? As you're looking on I? Also, I also can't hear you, So it's her Mike is
definitely on down up here? Is her Mike on down there? All right? So, uh, this seems to me the problem we always have with this Mike. So I will introduce you Frank, and then I will try to interest Maria. I will try to I will try to fix the problem while you speak. Go ahead, please please go ahead. Hello everybody, Welcome to the Fantasy Best Friends Forever. Maria Marino joining us today. I got a little Fantasy Basketball
edition of the show going on. I mean, you trade deadline a few days away here, Maria, so we're gonna be diving into that Rodney hood. I don't know if you saw this, got traded to the Portland Trailblazers over the weekend. A little bit about that, Anthony Davis, will he be traded? You know? The Lakers? I mean the Pelicans only asking for six first round picks, your firstborn child, your house, your wife, anything else of value. Do you have any jewelry? Will take that? Um? You know, did
you win the championship once? To give us your championship ring? Like the Pelicans, they're asking for everything, but they should. Yes, we can hear you. We're gonna talk about on me when you do that, like shut the mic off because it makes all these noises when you go like this, we're professing you think that you would think this is Marie Rerino's first day and not her last day. Excuse me, you're putting it on me that the mic was not working. Come on. Now, that's a poor job. I plugged it
in and plugged the wrong wire in the wrong boo boo. Okay, thank you. That should be a fun show today, Frank, this guy everything that's going on, um so it's him. It's can be a really good time. Marie Marino, how are you. I'm fantastic, happy to be here, happy to be part of fantasy BFFs. I feel like I am unofficially anyway, whether or not you guys feel that way,
I still feel that way. So yeah, yeah, Marie, I mean you were a best friend of ours before I mean the program it existed, like you're an o gbff. I'm not so sweet, so sweet. And you can tell that she's definitely a fan of the show because five seconds before the show started, said are you going to sing and dance with us? And she says huge a lot of seconds. The only reason I asked that is because I wasn't sure if after our old pal Mike
Florio left the program, if you changed soundtrack. Well, you know, if you watched any times last here, you might have back in back in. Yeah, you know, you got about six months, six months to figure that out. Hey, I watched you guys on TV, not just on you too. I don't know. Listen, clearly did not catch the intro that I did not catch the intro, but I I saw you on TV. I took a photo of it. I took a video. I sent it to you guys. I was like, Yo, I know those guys. So that's great, Maria, Thanks,
thanks for listen. I'm your biggest fan. You know that. That's all right. How's the life treating Maria? How's everything going? No, life is Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of that title. But yeah, Jerseys go. If you had a moniker for New Jersey, what would it be? I don't have a moniker Jersey. It's it's the Garden State. It's where you come on Friday night. Is the armpit of America. Never heard that before. Don't be a hater. It's where you
come on Friday night. You take the pass train in a Hoboken and you place your bets on Fandel and all invited you to join me last week, but clearly you had better plans because do in the morning that I did appreciate the in fight though, and let's rain check. Yeah, sorry, I guess this is this is your last day. I think you think are the wrenches. It's just weird to say. It's just weird to say, yes, I guess it is
my last it's your last day with us. You've got a lot of videos, um, yes, with us for sure, and we haven't made you a goodbye video. I'll let you know that there is. There is no slide show coming, so that's okay. I wasn't expecting like a tribute video like they do in the NBA. Now probably should I want you to open the show with I want you to expect the least because that's what we provide here joining the program standing at five ft seven, Yes, Maria Marino,
and then we should have like hit the tribute video. Agreed, and then it would have next time, don't say don't say like Saron Glockholm's I Will Remember You, I one of you were going to say. I wasn't gonna say that. I was going to say the song that you named my fantasy team after Maria. That would makes sense. I mean, whenever I think of like NBA tribute videos, even though though it doesn't make sense, it was only it only made sense for like the Carmel Anthony trade is like
I always think of coming home. It was like, I don't know, it was like the coolest thing ever. Yeah, even though he was like raised in Baltimore like most New York when Lebron went back to Cleveland, it was that right, that same song they played pretty much any kind of the opposite. It's like you're leaving home. So yeah, I know, I know leaving home, I won't be far by the way. Speaking of being far, I heard you saw somebody last night. I did. It was very awkward.
Can you please explain to me why it was so awkward, because it definitely was awkward. I heard it was very awkward. Do you want me to tell my side? Yeah, yeah, I wasn't. I wasn't you heard about this were talking about. So I leave my other job and I'm on the subway platform downtown World Trade Center and I'm standing there alone, waiting for the train, and I see two girls walk past, and one of them I recognize, and it's Judy Greg's fiancee.
So as I recognize it, and you know, sometimes when you see someone you recognize, you don't always know whether I should whether you should say hi, because it's like in passing whatever. But the answer to that is always well clearly, And I'll tell you why, because I made a split second decision where as she was walking past, I said, Judy made yes, Yes, I said Judy. And then she she she paused, and she looked at me. She looked at me as though she didn't know who
I was, but I felt that she did. But I just she's still gave me that look, and I just was like, Maria, you know, Greg's a co worker from Fantasy Network. And She's just like yeah, and then she just kept walking looks like so here, So here's really that's what really happened. So here's my here's the text message I received. Do you expect anything less? I would be friendly? You don't think I'm like a friendly person or subway people, your photo of your headphones on. You
won't even look people. That's the way things are supposed to be in New York. Don't talk to other people. That's how everyone really am. Then I shouldn't have deviated it, but I was just like in the moment, I was like, so here's text message I got. I just saw him, Maria on the subway platform. I have no idea who that is. I was in deep conversation with Caitlyn about work. So it was awkward. I like, I knew who she was and I put it didn't and it was uncomfortable.
And she comes up to me and she goes, Hi, do you remember me? I worked with Greg. It was so awkward. My friend Caitlin was like, w T. And I'm just like, oh God, you are embarrassing, Judy. You are embarrassing. I have to say, like I expected her to be like, oh, what's up? How are you? Of course like a normal person, but I'm not. But it's it doesn't bother me that she didn't do that. I was just like, Okay, she's probably, like you said, she's
probably deep in conversation. She's probably rushing around. You're trying to catch the subway. Like I totally get it. You're also not incessarily expecting you in that in that context, Now, let me share some history. I met Judy a couple of times. The last time I saw her was at your apartment for Halloween at your party were everyone was super fun. Um. But but like, as far as I know, you know, we we have a friendly relationship. I have to I wouldn't I would be lying. You refused to
sed to. That's not how it went down formally. Also does a Halloween party everything week. I don't know that you know rich Penthouse any day of the week, very night, but you've been I like your apartment. It's I'd be lying if I said though, I'd be invited to the party. Who shut up? It's quick around those parts at that time on a Saturday night, and he didn't invite core, the core as you've seen around Hell's Kitchen on a
Saturday night. Are you out of your mind? No? I was just gonna say, and I know this is completely irrational and outlandish. There was a moment, a moment briefly where I wondered, does Judy not like me? Really? Yeah? That was silly exactly then. I mean I quickly dismissed it because that was because I was like, why Yo, King and I homies? She talked about their love for Dean Gregories. King is a very nice person. Why wouldn't they hit it off? But Jude is a nice person.
I'm not saying we didn't hit it off. We just didn't like like King. And I felt like I was like talking the same person. It was just like I was starting to I don't know what what I don't I don't know what. I don't know what's going on? Where is this going mess? Stuff from Judy man? I agree? Do you strike me as a guy, like a highbrow like me? Yeah, I'm not gonna talk to Marie. I say hi to everybody. I walk in and talk to every doormat and every build they've ever been Like, hey,
I walk in here. You probably don't even talk to Justin at the bread dust. Do you know? I don't talk to anything exactly. I'm the hither Row guy you're supposed to be. I talked to Julio downstair. I talked the guy I talked to Justin. I talked to my man, ed who do you talk to? And I'm the highbrow Gary as a fellow New Yorker, isn't it better to just here, don't have a mic like I feel like Corey would side of me. You're supposed to just mind your own business on the talk to other people. Okay,
who is a pretty friendly person. He's on the corner of now you know what, Greg is a Greg will come in and he will speak to everybody, and like Mike called on a whole walk in this joint and don't speak to nobody, say goodbye Michael walking to from with fifteen people and don't say nothing to nobody, And to be fair and whine news about Corey because Corey walks in every morning, walks downstairs. How's everybody doing, how's everybody feel? What's going on? What's going every single day
Corey does? Yeah, for sure, we don't really work with the people, Frank, people goes to the bar, to the hostesses, every kind of the waitresses every day. I'm a mayor. This is what this comes with politics. To be clear, I did not have an alterior motive, all right. To be clear, I didn't want this to turn into bashing of Judy because I'm not bashing because, like Frank said, you don't talk to people in New York. Nine times that time somebody talks to me, I'm like, get away
from me. But because right, we're friends, well, because we've met before. You know, I thought it would been a little bit more warm more warmth. But it's all right. You know, I think it still don't take it per by your story and by the text messages that I received, I think this is more. I think this is more of a cases like not realized seeing like seeing this person in this spot at this time, it didn't make sense. It didn't make sense. She saw you like she came
for lunch for whatever reason, she saw you. Oh my god, yes, but she was. She was mid big conversations, she was rushing around, she was talking with subway platforms. I get it, I get it. Okay, Sorry, Judy, I'm sorry, so sorry. She's going to be That's why I wrote it up. You didn't bring it up. You did. I brought it up. I meant to text you about it, but you didn't. You're probably like, oh, Goddy hates me. I'm not texting him feeling where this went anyway, I didn't say anything.
You always so, how is King of though? King is good. She's doing very well. She just got a new job. Really, you didn't tell me that fantastic, my sugar, mama. Now that's great. Say that loud and proud. Don't be mumbling so proud. I'd be like, this is great. I'm staying home the rest of my life. That's where Frank wants to like, So I got text from I think it was you were the tweeting or you texted me last night. I remember what it was Frankie. But like Frank was
deep diving into baseball. Like I remember, I had like the TV on. I was eating dinner and Frank was just I think it was you were tweeting a baseball. Um, you can tell when I'm deep diving. I got like pre and post injury stats on labor tour. That's what. That's what it was. It was like labor Tour was last night. I was like Frankie diving. I was just thinking because I was sitting there eating dinner. I'm like, all right, so King is here. This all went through
my mind. So kingas hanging out at home and Frank's just staring deep like deeper. It was like eight o'clock o'clock. Alright, That's why I just had in my head. I was only I do that after she goes to bed, like ten o'clock, fair enough, So I thought it was like eight o'clock in my head. In my head, I was like eating dinner. Frank's like stereo at computer, and Kings just like Frank Frank and he's just like pouring over
glabor tour. No, No, it wasn't that earlier. I was actually just got a new Mac maybe it'll make a debut on the show this week. So I was trying to like figure out how to work that thing. Of course, there's totally different stuff. There's a touch idea can unlock the back with my that I was messing around a little bit with the little laptop. I will admit he asked me to like wash dishes while she was cooking tacos. That's great talking any talking money. It's better Taco Tuesday.
But she did ask me, and I was just like, eventually did it? But did you? At least? It's very mad at me. Did you respond? I mean being ignored as like I was like, yeah, I'm gonna do it. Just excuse me. A couple of seconds. I understanding. I can, I can. I can deal with that. It was great last nights for me. So Judy was watching The Bachelor in her friend's place. So I just had like leftover zuper bowl washing watch basketball last night, watching nets in
the bucks, was watching Raw. It was awesome. I was very She got home eleven and then it really went terribly because she has just like um, she has like a sinus infection right now. She's just caught for like a straight hour as we're trying to go to bed, and this is ridiculous because like drink water can sleep on the couch again. I was gonna get up Gregan Judy do this thing that whenever one of them is sick, the other one sleeps on the couch. Yeah, you know
what to get sick. Understandable. Why why would you do that? Why do you want to get sick? I think it depends on your level of sick too. I had the flu. Okay, yeah, that's that. I can understand. You have the flu, you need the sick couch, get the master cuddle over here. The power of cuddling can heal your significant over Yeah. But see also you sick, dude. Take it from somebody who's been on the couch. Mania Knights on the couch. The couch is not a fun place, whether you think
at healthy. But I've gotten used to the couch, and you know what, I've made the best of it. You have to. I mean, I appreciate the sentiment. Frank with the cuddling. Not super really, Marie's definitely a big cutler. Big cutler loves it. That was obvious. Al Right, we're taking a break, we'll come back. We didn't give any of these just like riffing and hanging.
We didn't a very seriously. Oh you know why because our schedules have been so like jam packed and all the content that we're putting out there right the n b A. I think that's what you're gonna miss the most. Like W n B A stuff I am going to miss that. I'm gonna miss kind of just talking about whatever I want to talk about, whatever I want. You still can't you have our phone numbers? I know, well, I mean just in general on the air and like
with the content that that we put out there. But no, yeah, you guys aren't going to get rid of me. I'll be gonna be. Yeah, I got your numbers. Um, I will be around. I'm sure you will be. You don't work that far away, yeah, I mean I might run into you on the subway platform. I don't. I don't go down there. It's so far, you know. I'm just all right, let's get back in the NBA. And I mean we've we've been hanging out and I want to talk to some sports guys. And the big question, it
was our poll question of the day. And this time next week, what uniform Anthony Davis be wearing Pelicans Lakers. I'll see the knixes on there, clippers and the box. So I think it's interesting. And the rumor was that I think Martino told me this today. It might have been you, Frank, but I think it's Martina that told me the Evidently Anthony Davis wanted to play last night, and it's clear right now that he's healthy, Like, he's fine. I'm sure this finger injury wasn't nearly the big of
a deal that we originally thought it was. But he's fine, he's ready to rock. And it's very clear that Pelicans are not going to trade this dude, not not play this dude if he's still on the team until after the trade deadline, because there's no reason to um at this moment. So you think your best guests at this time next week, Maria, what uniform? What Anthony Davis be wearing. I I voted in this poll, and I voted Pelicans.
I'm starting Here's here's here's my problem with it. Like I've I've been preaching all along that the Pelicans should wait and not rush into making a deal for Anthony Davis before the trade deadline. But then when I see this, this deal that the Lakers throw out to them, I start to get tempted. I start to wonder, is this the best deal that they're gonna get for him? And
should should they just? Should they just do it? And I'm not even saying that the best thing for the Lakers, but maybe maybe it is the best thing for the Pelicans. I don't know, So like I'm hedging a little bit because I feel like maybe I could see the Lakers, but I still feel strongly about it would be the Pelicans. You know, It's amazing, Frankie, because I've gone so many
different ways in this I who did it? Hollard? And I stopped my feet and I screamed, really a fright that was, like, it makes no sense to trade for the Pelicans. To do this right now, Wait until every team is available in the summer, mainly the Celtics, and and see what you can get. But I'm with you, Maria. You see the rumors. We have no idea what they
were really offered. These are the rumors of this trade where it's basically every core member of the Lakers outside of Lebron James and the latest incarnation of the trade was those bats bats and it was every other cork member of that team. Plus we'll take on your worst contract in Solomon Hill. Plus we'll give you four draft picks. And that's what the Pelicans wanted, but wanted for drafts. We don't know what kind of protection was on those
US will give you? I would imagine there was no protection. Plus we'll give you picks. I wouldn't who knows who the number is. But plus we'll give you picks. And if that's true, you're just like, what else can they possibly get? Now, the answer to that question before I go over to you, Frank, the answer to that question is, Okay, picks are awesome, cash spaces even better. But it's really hard to get people to go play for the New
Orleans Pelicans. It's not the Lakers, it's not the Warriors at this point, right, it's it's the New Orleans Pelicans. It doesn't have that lineage of the Celtics, doesn't have the history. So fine, Okay, it's tough. You already know a Lonzo Baha has no interest in playing there. I'm not saying brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma doesn't. But as it's pointed out to me today, Kyle Kuzma is years old and he's not exactly a dude that is twenty years old. So is Kyle Khosma going to become this
All Star? Or is this what we have? Not that was a bad player, but like Kuzma what he is right now? The wild right, the wild card is Brandon Ingram, who is still extremely extremely young. Do they believe the randon Ingram will become an All Star? Now? You can look and I saw on Twitter day a guy like DiAngelo Russell, who in year two is like twenty years old. You were thinking when he was with the Lakers, like what does he really become? Two years later with the Nets.
He's an All Star. But I'm not saying he's an All NBA player because he's not. But he's an All Star. Do the Pelicans believe that any of the players they're getting back that will that won't cause a you know, massive catastrophe with this team, like Alonzo Ball probably will will become an All Star. I mean someone to build around. That's the big question where it comes back. I think the Lakers deal because if you wait for Boston, the one big question you have with Boston isn't about picks,
isn't about cap space. It's about who can you get back because the one guy you want is Jason Tatum because you believe that Jason Tatum is that one guy that in two years or one year whatnot, will become an All Star that right now, he's in the precipice of that. If you believe the Celtics will trade you Jason Tatum in a deal, you probably wait because he's the one guy out of Kuzma, out of ball that
you believe in. But if they're not going to trade him, if the Boston's like, listen, we're not training you Tatum, and it makes no sense of Boston, tell them that now you want them to think they will. If you believe that they will trade you Jason Tatum, you have to wait it out. You have no choice. But if they don't, will the offer ever get better than what it may be right now? I think these are all the questions that Dell Demps has to think about over
the next too many days, your thoughts and all this. Yeah, so when you hooted and hollered last week, you were very adamant about the Pelicans waiting until the summer to get the Celtics involved and see what kind of trade offer they can give. But things change. Based on the quote that we got from Anthony Davis's dad last Friday, right talking about how he doesn't want his son son
to play for the Celtics. He doesn't want him to sign their long term because of the way that they treated Isaiah Thomas that they don't have any loyalty to their players. If you're the Celtics, why are you taking that chance and time? If you're if you're up at Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown and a draft pick or multiple draft picks, why are you taking that chance? If you have his dad right then and they're telling you he's not gonna sign long term, So then you don't
play at Anthony Davis for a one year rental. Maybe in that one year you could win a championship. What are you really gonna do that for a one year rental. I get it, he's like a top five, top ten player in the NBA, But you can't take that risk without knowing that he's not He's gonna sign or not. You need to know before you make this trade that
he wants to sign. There on top of it, frank like, going along with that point on the reported extended list of teams that he would be interested in going to the Celtics were not honest. But don't you see Lakers, the Knicks, the Clippers, the Clippers, and you know, I thought gave made a great point today, right, all this talk about Anthony Davis wanting to play for a contender, No, it's not true, like maybe the only contender on that teams box. Basically, you want to play with one contender
or a major media market, that's what you want. Like, let's stay honest about this. Because the Knicks, all right, yeah, they have cap space. Guess what space doesn't win you championships? Do have to you have to execute and free ative. But that list that you see, you gotta I think we all have to take a step back and like, know what's happening here? Right, Like, all right, here's the list, right, the Knicks they have nothing to trade the Pelicans anymore.
They don't, they don't. They just don't have it. And they would already unprotected first round pick this year. The hope, the hope, the prayer of getting Zion. But you need more, you need more. You need do have some young assets, like you could attach Kevin Knox, you can attached. Still not enough, still not enough. It might not be, but I think it's a competitive offer, Okay Knox, Frankielkina maybe and if they wanted Dennis Smith Jr. Right, I know,
you just got him. But if that's what it took to get Anthony David, those young assets and the possibility of getting a top three pick in this year's draft, I think it's a competitive offer. I mean, when you look at the offer that the Lakers put out, there doesn't seem all that competitive. I agree with you, and and they already turned down. They turned it out an offer that would have included Kristaps porzingis not that we know the details behind that. So here's what we here's
what we do know. Right, So I agree with you or they said nothing to offer. In my opinion, the Bucks the way that they are constructed, they also don't They also have nothing to offer, So that can is an expiring free agent, right Eric Bledsoe expiring free expiring free agents like in the Primate's career. So who are the books? So who is New Orleans getting in that trade to build around Nobody? Absolutely nobody. So again there's there's no star there. Now you're with the Clippers and
you're with Lakers. The Clippers have some young players, for sure, Will they want to take on the cap space of a Solomon Hill I don't know. To geld say, Gil just Alexander and your first round picks. That's a pretty competitive offer to is A. I agree with you, but my point was his list of four really is a
list of two. It's in l A and I don't think you know, if you're comparing even the Lakers, if it's Tatum and Brown right for the Celtics versus Kuzman Ingram, I don't think that that's that far off because what we've seen from Tatum, Yes, there's a lot to be excited about. How about last year when Brandon Ingram in the second half of the year, Remember they didn't have a point guard, they traded Friday Thomas, but like he was in and out of the lineup, he was playing
point forward for them. And look at some of these number from last year post All Star Break five nine field goal percentage, fifteen points, five assists, Like Brandon Ingram could be this next incarnation of like a point forward. But then you have a legit twenty plus points. But that's what I'm saying, So I agree with If I got Lonzo Ball in the deal, I would take him, but I would just try and flip him the Phoenix,
try and get some other job there too. Why are you doing that, you said Phoenix because LaVar is re questioning Phoenix, who gives a crap? But they have young players if they were interested in him, right, Because I mean, I thinkno ball can actually make sense in Phoenix having alongside. I happen to agree with you, but I'm not just training if Phoenix LaVar wants that, right, he hasn't earned the class. I keep him for half a year and then explore, like where you can trade him in the
off season? Right? But really, that much young talent, Kuzma, Ingram, Lonzo and this contract and two first round picks, the whole question. Know that the Celtics offers better than I agree with you. The whole question is the only question in my mind remaining. If the Lakers are gonna take on Solomon Hill, if the Lakers are gonna give you multiple draft picks, if the Lakers are giving you all of these players, The only question I have remaining is
does brandon Ingram is? Do you believe in brandon Ingram enough to not wait to see if you can get Tatum? That is the only question. Any of those guys, He's years old, he's just nine, He's still super skinny, He's gotta put on weight, there's no doubt about it. But the guy has over seven foot windspan. He's got to work on his jump shot. But I'm telling you what
I saw last year. When he's able to kind of like play that combo like point forward and have good enough vision as a player to you know, nearly average six assists per game as a guy of his size and you know, not turning the ball over that much, I see upside. Man Like, to me, you could build around a young core of Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma and and you know, if you have first round draft picks, and then you're gonna have your own first round draft
pick this year. If you trade away Anthony Davis, you're not going anywhere this year. You're gonna have a lottery pick. Maybe it's not, you know, top five, but in the eight to ten range, you probably have a draft pick there this year. I told look, that's the recipe for these small market teams. That's the recipe, right, you have to build through the draft. You've seen it with a
with a franchise like Oklahoma City Thunder. They were actually able to retain Russell Westbrook and because of that, they were able to sign Paul George. But normally a team like the Oklahoma City Thunder is not a big player and free you can see. So what you need to be able to do is build through the draft. And that's why, you know, I look at a team like the Sacramento Kings. The Sacramento Kings haven't been a desirable
franchise in terms of landing big name free agents. Not a lot of big name free agents want to go to Sacramento for once. And I know it feels like it's been forever since Sacramento has been even slightly relevant. Even when they had Boogie Cousins and he was amazing, they weren't even close to relevant. Look at what they're doing right now, a great young core. They're on the verge of making the playoffs this year, but for years to come. I mean, look at three sixty Alley. You's
last night from Marvin Bagley. You got Daron Fox, you have a young stud point guard. You have a knockdown shooter, Buddy Heals. I believe it was you who mentioned the stat the other day. Greg, He's about to break the record for like the most three Porters made like the first three seasons of career, and they have bogged on bog Danvich, a guy who can come off the bench,
like they are doing it the right way. When you are a smaller, you know, less desirable market in the NBA, you have to build through the draft, and we're seeing right now the New Orleans Pelicans are not a player in free agency. They can't even retain a player like Anthony Davis. They tried to make it work, it hasn't worked. They are a team that needs to build through young assets and through the draft. I really like this trade
for perspective with the Lakers. You're saying you want the Pelicans to make this deal if it's everyone thinks the question is how much better do you think Jayson Tatum is? And I think you look at the two it's kind of like making a fantasy trade, right because in my opinion, Brandon Ingram and Kyle k Kuzma are better than Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown is a good player and he can be a key peace on a winning team. It could be
like the third fourth option on a winning team. But to me, if I were ranking the players in the trade, it would be Tatum, Ingram, Kuzma, Ingram and Kuzma very
close and in Jalen Brown fourth. So if you think about it from like a fantasy trade, right and it's kind of like, yeah, you're giving up the best player in the deal, but you're getting the two next best players, like you're getting the better death and anger, and Ingram still has a lot of upside to remember, He's a six nine forward who proved to me, even though a small sample size, that he can kind of be a
point forward for an NBA team. Here's my question about Ingram, Like when I look at Jayson Tatum, and maybe it's just because of the opportunities that he's had with the Celtics where they've gotten deep into the postseason, so we've been able to see kind of how he steps up in those big moments, intangibles like all those things that you mentioned like stats and stuff aside like upside. Do you feel like I feel like Jayson Tatum is never too big for the moment. I feel like he has
that clutch gene. I feel like he has that killer which is crazy to be only a second year player, but he did prove some of that in the But I just I just see it, like he just screams like NBA star to me, And maybe it's um not really fair to say that because I'm not really going on anything but the eye test, But do you get that same vibe from Ingram as far as like can get in there and and just like have that ice
water in his veins? I think watching Jayson Tatum, does he strike you as like a plus defender or anything? Because to me, I don't think he's like a plus defender, right, Like how far off is Kyle Kuzman from being Jayson Tatum Because Jason Tatum to me is like a score. Yes, he has a clutching. Kyle Kuzma hasn't really had the opportunity to show whether or not he has a clutching or not. He didn't get to play in the playoffs
last year, and maybe that's the detriment to him. But to me, like, and I don't want to downplay Jayson Tatum because I think he's very talented, but Kyle Kuzman a talented score as well. I think Kusma the best out of the three. Does Jayson Tatum really does he offers something to a franchise other than scoring, I guess is what I'm trying to get at. Like, can he become this next like point score, you know, six seven rebounds and five six assists per game? Can you really
get there? I don't know if that's part of his game, so I think it could be. Remember he's super young as well, and the reason that and even Kyle Kuzma and like him the best. But I think those Lakers players, right, I think my issue with Kuzma is that what we
see is what we're getting. I don't think, as I mentioned his age, and I don't think he's gonna all of a sudden improved to be what Frank mentioned Jayson Tatum give me, not that we're comparing kuson maintainum, but like I think Tatum, the answer to your question Frank is yes, I think there is a chance he could be developed into that twenty five point score with a
bunch of rebounds, with a bunch of assists. I do think in order to be a playmaker, though, like, I don't know that I've seen enough from a passing perspective, from the willingness to get others involved, and that hasn't really been ast of him say that on that team, that's not his role at all. I've seen Brandon Ingram's
ability to do it, but average five six. You put Tato on the Lakers last year, it's completely completely different, Like Kusma on a bad Lakers team without Lebron this year, Like you saw what he could do and it was score very very well, probably nothing else. I think he would take them. There you see a lot, I think.
And to me looking at Brandon Ingram and I mentioned defensively with Jayson Taintum, like I think he has length and maybe he can work himself into being a defender if he wants to be right, Like he has that athleticism, he has the length to be able to do that. Brandon Ingram, it is all upside, but look at his length, like he's he's already a guy who's disruptive in past lanes and he's able to block shots. He needs to put on weight. If if brandon Ingram puts, he's the
only one. But he has side defensively but twenty one, Like I feel like this is about his third peer. Yes, I feel like he should have put on weight by now. You're not wrong, And Nevin Durant did it already by this time when he was and he's you mean he's done growing so, but to me, there's more upside, especially ill take a break here. When we come back, let's throw some other big names. It could be treated in the next couple of days. Who else out there trying

Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Marina, Frank Staffeld and the guys were just talking about it during the break and that was the fact that Rodney Hood treated once again trade last year deadline traded this year at the deadline went from Utah to Cleveland last year, and it goes back to the Western Conference and Goo was over to Portland's initial instant guys after this trail was goodrey for Portland who are always trying to look to help out their bench,
always trying to solidify that second unit. And then Frank kind of poo pood like into it. Frank, No, that's all right. I mean from a fantasy perspective, it doesn't really mean much. I think you'll get more of an opportunity. He's gonna be the sixth man for this team. They needed someone who could come off the bench and score. Because yes, they have Lillard to have mc collumn, they have nerd kids to have, you know, a lesser version of a Big three, but they have their own version
of it. But they needed to fortify that bench. You know, as as great as you want Jake Layman to be, Greg he's a former turpret as as great as you want them to be, any help on the bench, So I think Rodney Hood will help them out this. So I think the difference guys this year when it comes to the Blazers is they made a concerted effort to not stagger McCollum and Lillard. They wanted to play together more.
They thought that had a big advantage when they played them more together, and they're doing so, which means the entire second unit is basically having Turner and like Seth Curry correct. And that's fine, But if you want to be a player in a play, you just need another threat. And I think it's what Rodney Hood provided you've already saw he has the ability to carry the load in Utah and and certainly be a spark off the bench
in Cleveland. So I think this trade it's good. I think it only helps I think for the purposes that it's trying to serve, which is just being another spark plug off the bench. Mury, I think it works totally. I mean, look, Cleveland sellers at the trade deadline obviously, and uh, it makes sense to get something back for a player like Rodney Hood, and I agree it only helps the depth of Portland. And we know kind of what happened, We know what happened with them last year
in the playoffs. They just need they need more. So yeah, I'm good with it. Now. You mentioned Cleveland being sellers the deadline obviously and that and I asked before the break that what other big names could be traded in the next couple of days. I think a good one to bring up is Kevin Love, Right, Kevin Love size his extension with Cleveland, even Aathan Lebron leaves um he's been basically injured for that entire extension. Obviously, Cleveland's rebuilding
from scratch here. I mean, it's it's Colin Sexton, it's Chitty Osman. There's not much here unfortunately, and Kevin loved being here for what, right, Like, that's a contract. They want to get off their books, they want to improve, get more draft picks, get more cap space. There's Kevin Love a name, Maria that you think it will be traded in the next couple of days. He he should be,
but he's not someone that's really come to mind. And I think it's just because it's like you said, Um, he hasn't played much, he's been injured, UM, And I just don't know if he's on a lot of people's radar, like what is his status right now healthwise? He's close to returning. Um, he's been he's returned to practice. He will not play in tonight's game against the Celtics, but the fact that they're even mentioning that means that he's
probably close to point. Then in that case, I think there's definitely got to be a team out there that
could use him. Here's the problem. If you if you can squint in here, you see the money that Kevin Love is owed over the next five seasons Greg three, He's owed between twenty eight and thirty one million dollars per season, so age thirty by the end of this contract, he'll be, you know, thirty four, thirty five depending on what is his birthday September, so he'll be he'll be thirty four at the end of this contract, but between twenty one million dollars a year, Like that's essentially another
Max contract play that you're taking on, another big money deal, no doubt. So you know, maybe Kevin Love would probably make sense being traded to a team that thinks they're like a fringe contender but can't sign free agents, like maybe some of these small market teams, Like if this were next year, for example, I would say Sacramento, right, he would probably fit right in there because they're not
a free agent destination. Maybe they could trade away, you know, one young player, but not like blow it up, and then they would have a combination of Darren Fox and Bagley and you add some outside shooting with like a Kevin Love. That to me is what makes sense, Like a fringe team that's kind of pushing for the playoff that is not a desirable destination for big name free agents. Denver maybe something like that, But I don't think they need him. Do they need him? That's the question. The
whole mill snap is not like a great player. Probably he's an expiring contract as well, so maybe it doesn't make sense. Kevin Love Denver is not a bad one. Denver's not a bad one. They're not you know, they're not a fringe team. They're better than a French team. You know, they're they're the second best record record in the Western Last night was a reminder Greg and this is what I've said about Denver. They're not consistent enough. Detroit, you know, you need I don't know, they're dealing with
injuries right now. This is kind of like a weird time for NBA players because they're kind of like milking it in until they get to the All Star Break. But to go in and get destroyed by the Detroit Pistons and you want to try and like establish yourself as a player in the Western Conference, that's a bad look, man. I I agree, I totally agree. Didn't we pick them in our NBA pick did not didn't do Denver Detroit,
we did not. It starts Wednesday, Wednesday. Every Yeah, So I mentioned Kevin Love at Utah for Kevin Love, Does that make sense, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert. Yes, So I got Kevin Love, who's not a great defender next to Rudy Gobert. Makes sense? Actually, Yes, I like that a lot like these are the teams. Utah is not attracting anybody in from agency, you know, totally, that's one of
the teams. Utah and Denver are both good, Frank, And that brings up my next potential player to be traded, and it's another big man, and it's Mike, Mike, it's Mark Gasol. Oh, the Memphis Grizzlies. This is another team that's unfortunately going nowhere. Good defensive team as they've always been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA as always, but not enough offensive. You look at this team and you kind of look at the way it's built, They're like, all right, what are they going to wind
up doing? I'll start with Frank this time. Marcus al gonna get traded? And if so? Where Marcus Sole an interesting one. I was looking into a lot of trade rumors over the weekend, and he has a player option where he can get paid close to thirty million dollars till one season next year. It's it's only one year, um, but I think Memphis would like to move both him and Mike Conley. Makes sense, right, because again they want to get inside the top eight picks this year, because um,
anything outside the top eight picks goes to Boston. Boston has wear pick, but it's top eight protected. What deal is that? Remember, I don't know how how did that happen? I don't remember that. You can look into it, but um, yeah, I actually have something pulled up with like the Celtics picks the next couple of years. A couple of years, they have the King's Pick, which is a top one protective picks, so they're gonna get that pick and the
Memphis Grizzlies. If the pick falls outside the top eight, that would be that would go to Boston and then next year it would it would move to next year, but then it would be top six. So Memphis is a team that I think they want to They want to use that pick this year. They don't want it to go to Boston. They want to finish inside the top eight in the lottery, seems so I think that they're going to be very very active try and move
Mike Conley and Mark a Soul. The problem with trying to move Mike Colley's he has a very big contract as well. So this is this is one of those situations where and I asked this question last night on Twitter and you it's always weird when we see teams that are like, we need to attract our we need to attach our bad contracts to our young players in order to move them. And it's like we when we saw them Mike Conley contract at the time we all
kind of thought, like Mike Conley, max contract player. For a time, he was the highest paid player in the NBA. And on paper, it's like anyone can realize that it's not a good it's not a good signing. But when you get into it, for a team like Memphis to to bring back a player like that, that's what they need to be able to do. They need to they have to sign a guy like Mike Mike Conley who maybe isn't worth a max contract and getting the paid the same amount of money that like Lebron James is.
But if Memphis wants to bring back players like that, that's what they need to be able to do. So now, if they want to move Mike Conley, they even they might have to attach like some of the younger players, which I mean I don't Grizzlies don't really have a lot of young talent right now, and they're not They're not moving Jaren Jackson, that's for sure. I've seen the Pacers interested in a guy like Mike Conley that getting from next year two and then you would have like
the future would be like Turner and Turner. The problem is if about the other power forward on the team. But no, that's exactly what I'm getting at. He would be part of the trade. You would have to give up some bonus because he's a young player and he's talented, but you gotta give something to get something. Oh No, but he'd be able to shine in Memphis. Yeah, Triple J And then that's a nice little front court school bonus and Jaren Jackson Jr. That school about what about
Cossul Maria. Where's a good landing spom for him? It's I think it's very similar to what Frank said about Kevin Love, where it's a team that would have trouble kind of um attracting free agents maybe like kind of on the brink on the cusp, like could use some veteran leadership. But again it's this the same situation as as far as the contract. If you want to, if you want to take that money, like you know exactly what he is, you're not, there's no there's no upside really,
um that you're banking on. It's just it is what it is, you know, if they had anything left to trade, I think Dallas is a great spot from Marcasol, Like, that's a perfect spot for the only thing is that they're not going to compete this year, you know, I know, I know, even but even next year you saw with Christops, with Luca like Pam next to la Marcus Aldridge, I mean next to like taking it back. That's kind of like more of a traditional NBA lineup, where like you
have two big men in it. If there's anyone who can do it, it's probable san Antonio Mike Conley also makes a lot of sense too. But they're not gonna take on that contract. That's the problem. They do have some young players, right you give up like a Derek White or something like that. Let's going back to what you said, frank It's like the problem with the system in essence, because you have to give these these big
contracts to retain these players. But then when your plan doesn't work out the way you hope it's going to work, and then you have to shed this contract, then it becomes difficult to to make good deals and and get a lot back in return. What other big name guys can be traded that I have not named yet, Frankie makes a lot of sense with the Orlando Magic, he's having a fantastic, fantastic years. You want Obama to be the guy of the future. I think, you know on
that same team, Aaron Gordon. I've seen his name floated out there as well. I know he just signed a four year contract in the off season, But what I was reading about him is that his contract is very trade friendly because as the further it goes into the contract, the most money gets less, so it's like kind of like front loaded money. So it actually makes a guy
like Aaron Gordon easier to trade. But with Orlando, they haven't made the playoffs in so long, like they could probably sneak into the Eastern Conference like playoffs this year. You're obviously not going to do anything with that, but it kind of needs something for the to show their fans. Right, it's been so long since they've been relevant and in the playoffs, so they're they're a weird Steve, they could
either be buyers or sellers. I think they're kind of like one of those wild card teams that Steve Clifford has. Clifford has the magic currently three games three games out, but they have a few teams to pass. Three teams to pass, unfortunately for them. Yeah, but they could pass Washington, like they're given a half back in Detroit. They are three games back in Miami. I mean Detroit. Detroit's probably a team that should be active at trade deadline. I
think I've seen Mike Conley's name as well. Isn't it crazy how this time last year everything with Blake Griffin. I think I actually came on the show this time last year when that happened, and I was thinking, like, Wow, Detroit could actually, like you, get in the playoffs, they could actually do something. And now it's all it's all a mess. With that, We're gonna sign off of YouTube. Another five minutes on the radio. Frenzies up next, Corey, Jim,
uh and Chris. You's taking around for that too. Were you invited on that? Uh No, I'm gonna go get some food. No Frenzy. So, Maria, this is your last live show. You want to say goodbye before we buddy? Thanks for watching. You guys are the best fs for real. We remember alright for last show, Martin, here we go. I'm just kidding. There's no last show, alright. I appreciate
you watching. Likes, rate, subscribe rates, ribe of Stars, leave a comment and make sure you stick with us for the next four and a half minutes as we continue on and wrap up our r n B A show here. Um, guys, I'll think the last couple of minutes and talking locally for us, where's on the radio now? So let's just do our thing right. Uh, let's have all of a
sudden gotten a little cold here. They've lost three in a row, six and four, which is okay in their last time, but they have lost three in a row. Harris LeVert could be back as soon as next week. I think he'll probably come back right after the All Star break more than likely, um special June when you hopefully will come back at some point. I think we all knew that the Nets would um come back down to earth a little bit. But what is that ceiling this year for them? Area? Well, I think the sling
is actually I still feel pretty good about them. Um. As Frank mentioned before, this is that sort of time right before the All Star break where teams are banged up. They're just they're really limping into that break. Um. You mentioned Spencer Denuities should be back by early March the latest,
and then Caris LeVert will be back shortly. And I just I only think that they're going to get better from that, I don't think whatever um sort of chemistry they've tapped into is going to be at risk because of that. I think the more options for them the better. UM. I think they're gonna be kind of in the lower half of the playoff conversation UM in the playoff race. But I I still really like what this team is doing and and can do, and I feel good about them.
I think they're ceiling is the five seed in the Eastern Conference because the Indiana Pacers are occupying that spot right now. But they have kind of fallen apart here frankly without Oladipo, so maybe they make a move from So they have won their last two and they're gonna and you want to note that must have been last week. Then it's like every time I looked up at the box where they were getting blown. Pacers are seven games up with the nets right now a lot. That is
a lot. That is a lot, Yeah, but actually it's there. There was actually be hard for them to stay afloat though without I do I do think this, but the Pacers were a lot of people have talked to them kind of coming back down Oladipo. They're tied of the three see they're tied of Boston and Philly right now. They I understand they probably cannot keep up with their pa that pace, but a lot of credit goes out to Indiana what they've been doing this year. Yeah, I
just think that's the ceiling. That's the ceiling for the Brooklyn Nets this year. You know, looking at the roster, I think Kevin Love could actually make sense there as well. I know that they're going to try and be players in free agency. They I feel like people have floating around Jimmy Butler as a possibility in Brooklyn. But um, yeah, like they have they have young they have young players on the team. The next step is they need stars, right and I think, you know, Daniel Russell is kind
of developing into that. He's not necessarily there yet. He's gonna play in his first All Star Game, and rightfully so have good pieces. They have Din Witty Jared Allen, a rim protector, kind of classic style center. Uh. They have Chabad's Napier. They have some depth on the bench. And please put some respect on Cares Lavert's name. You know, let's not forget what he was doing early on in the season. I know it was a small sample size, but this is gonna be a big addition once they
get him back. Remember he was the closer for this team. He won them a few games single handedly down the stretch where you know, a little some some drives, uh, scoring at the last second to win games. He's a good two way player as well. And this is a team that has frankly has has uh. They've they haven't
necessarily done it through the draft. I know they drafted LeVert, but they've They've made some shrewd smart man to get to Angelo Russell, to pick up Dinwitty when he was just like laying around on waivers and no one else in the NBA wanted himself. Credit to them, have done a great job. Kenny Atkinson, I think is a very good coach. Their ceiling this year, I think is the five seed. I do think that they'll make the playoffs. I know that they've scuffled. I don't think that they're
gonna fall out of it. But if they really wanted to do a little bit more, maybe they're active at the trade deadline. But Laverte coming back is gonna be huge for them. I don't I don't think they need to be active at the deadline personally, like, I don't think. I think they're kind of ahead of schedule, their head of schedule right now. This is kind of the house, kind of like the Atlanta Braves of baseball last year,
the Yankees the year before that. I very much. Yeah, like the fact that if they if they make you know, five six seed or so in the playoffs, that it would be huge for them. That'd be amazing. I'm really really excited about this Brooklyn team. Yeah. I think Tina just plays together. That doesn't have that superstar and the question will be can they get it. If I think they should get If they could get one free agent this summer, they have one person to come there, everything
everything changes open. I don't know if that will happen. You know, I can actually see a guy like Jimmy Butler though no fitting in in New York, whether it's within Nicks. Wasn't Jimmy Butler going to Brooklyn? Then just piss everybody off on that team because you have such good camaraderie and such good chemistry on that team. Jimmy Beltok, just blow that whole thing up. They don't have anything. I just see him going to Brooklyn and just blowing
it all. Yeah. I mean there's um. Jammy Butler has gotten a lot of heat for like the way he's reacted, the way that he holds people, you know, accountable. He's a fiery dude man, and he's talked about it. I know there was an interview either last week or a couple of weeks ago where he was talking about when
he first came in the league. The reason he is, the reason he is this way is because like players like Joakim Noah and like that team in like Louil Dank, they always see yelled at each other and screaming each other and hold people accountable. This is just kind of like fitting into the way everything is today where everyone's soft. Unfortunately,
