This Yes, the Fantasy best Friends Forever here at the Fantasy Sports Radio Network alongside Frankie standfle I am Greg. What's talking about? Gregg? Happy Friday here? The long short week is coming to a conclusion. Feels like right, feels like it. Yeah, And hopefully we actually do get some
spring training baseball today. We're supposed to get Yesterday we got about an ending and then it was postponed with like rain hail. I think it's like snowing in Arizona today. I mean, wild is going on. But we are supposed to have two games today, Philly and Tampa at one Oakland and Seattle at three A right to man. I was actually really excited to see medals in a bet. And then then that's when a cop postponed very sad sight fring training Yankee start tomorrow. How you feeling, Greg,
How did you sleep last night? You're not gonna believe this. It's great, it's so fun. Yeah, that's a lie. I was like, not high. We wake up at three? I woke up with two thirty and I was like, I'm like a week. I went back to bed. Whatever, he's why a wig? I gotta tell you do a funny story. Actually, um, I woke up with my My alarm went off six thirty. I woke up right, had a notification from American Express. I was charged from Chewy dot com. No, dude, I
lost it on American Express. This Morner. The saga continues, I lost it on this morning. This one was Henry, Henry exist Greg my Mary Express card that was canceled in January. I lost my mind. So they go, is this gonna end up affecting your credit? I hope not. Why should it will it? I don't like if there's transactions that are being paid for and you're not paying them off well, they're not paid for. I can't immediately get them off the card. I hope. So I tell's
credit Undo. So I tell him Mary Expressed and their sponsor. He was all right, So we'll make sure that there's no charges on that car and going forward. You canceled the card a month ago. Why would there be charging? Why would I want charges on that card going forward? Well, sometimes like people don't change them, Like you receive a notification from like Amazon, Uber or something like that, and you charge the card. I go, what, I won't charge that car because I don't have it anymore. It was
canceled for fraud. I'm sorry, Greg. I was so angry. And so then the end of the conversation Friday morning here for Greg Susmania. So we ended the conversation with h we try to file a complaints, sir, I go, yes, yes, I want to file a complaint. This is a joke. American Express. Man, American Express, you know what is it their fault? Though, it's their fault that my canceled credit card for fraud is still getting charged, Like that should
not be able to be used anymore. But what if the people who are hacking your card and your identity, Greg or like jumping through like all these loopholes and it's not American Express as fault, keep charging Chewy dot com. So I don't know. I love that it's a place, Sue, it's ridiculous dot com check it out. Yeah, um, I will say this, Frank, My morning definitely had supplies looking at it right now. Um my morning is still going better than Bob Craft's Morning Guy is going too soon? Greg?
Is it? Is it? I don't know what's the latest? What do you got? Greg's named in the prostitution ring to the surprise of who though I know that these guys are held to a high standard, but he's like seventy he might even be older than that. He's like seventy years old, something that I think every time he
accepts the Lombardi Trophy he's hammered. He he has a care at this point, I mean, like, yea, you you obviously he had his wife passed away, has had a girlfriend for a while at thirty nine, does at eleven or twelve? So since then, since then he's been dating an actress who's like thirty nine years younger than him or something like that. I'm not advocating prostitution by any means. But he's eighty years old, so he needs that. He has a girl his wife. He needed a girlfriend just
like a not given what he needs? What happened the girl friend? How oldes? His girlfriend's probably thirty years just said thirty nine years younger than him. He's seventy nine. That makes her forty, right, Yeah, I mean this should surprise nobody. That's basically all say it. I mean, but what if like Gronk was in a prostitution really wouldn't be like a huge deal, Like he's the owner of the team. Yeah, but he's also like almost eighty years make it right, understand he broke the law. I mean,
whatever is he really gonna like do time? I don't know, of course not probably not now. And he can get he can get me Bronc. I mean, would it really it would surprise me if Gronk because he doesn't if he could get really need prostitution. If he can get Meek free, he probably can himself free. It'll be fine. I'm sure. I'm sure Robert Craft will be just fine. Greg what a worse morning, Robert Craft or Gregg Robert Craft? I don't think so. I wasn't arrested. You know who
really had a worse morning than me? Um, that would be Rob at American Express or Samuel's. I'm sorry, I would be Samuel an American Expressed. Was the person you're Samuel was the supervisor who I was yelling at, whose phone kept dropping out and just moing more in range. That's how I started as soon as I connected. They can I help you? Yeah, I'll talk You're supervisor. Please, I'm sure I can help you, sir, I go. You cannot, damn, there would be so mean about it. Greg, my credit
card which was canceled for fraud a month ago. It's still being charged. Yeah, but is it's Samuel's fault. No, but it's his company's fault and he represents the company. I guess, sorry, Sammy. What it is Today? On the program, we're going over short stops here and well Chris Mention joint program our number two to break down the position with us. And this is a really interesting one, very interesting. Lots of wild cards here, that's a good word for it.
This is the wild card position. The wild card position. Everyone talks about the shortstop position like it's so deep. That's what you hear a lot of people talk about the short stop position is deep. You know, there's got a lot of guys you can find in the middle rounds and stuff. Yeah, but there's a lot of risk involved with these guys too. Like I'm I'm looking at the list. Lindor calls Korea, Corey Seekers just three names
off the bat right right. Huge injury risks, all have huge upside, especially Lindor nine runs scored last year for first with Mookie debts when I you know, look a lot of the times when we play fantasy baseball, towards the end of the season, we start looking at the fantasy football, I mean it happens to everybody, right. I really did not know what Francisco Lindoor's final line was until I looked at up recently. He's incredible, He's ridiculous. But I'm kind of worried about this. So the thing
is knowing where, knowing where I draft. I'm trying to figure out who my shortstop will be. I was looking at the list this morning. I have no idea. I have no idea who my shorts that will end up being this year. Yeah, I mean I have a few. I have a few targets. Like to me, there's there's a top twelve shortstops right right, and then the tier right after that, like my thirteen fourteen, fifteen or Jose Peraza, Paul DeJong, de Young and Tim Anderson. Process was my
guy last year. But do you really want any of those guys that you're starting shorts now? So actually want those guys in your middle, and so I started process by starting short stop all season for the I don't think this position is as deep as everyone once Corey Seeger went down last year. It's deep with middle infield options, and that's what people are talking about when when they see deep. I don't think it's deep with like starting talent.
You guy with Elvis Ingers and well, I've kind of backtracked. You're gonna you can be all over as Jubil, aren't you. Let's give you a guy I really like his just because of the reposition eligibility Hit two seventy five with twenty homers. They'll tell you what one. Basically, they tell you are one in our middle and fielder viet it's what Kettle Marte, I ked Marte, I like Wilver Floras. You know we're taking over Flora Oh yeah, that's that's who you decided that we're gonna take. Yes, I do
like over Flora's let's fine hit like to seventy homers. Right, great, that's all she was going. Later rule Combert is going to twenty six five high beautiful or twenty great perfect like it causes a damn thing love it? Okay, So it's a buck bash if I ever heard one in auction? My man ian Con hopefully not listening. So I got I got a nice text about ian Con today. My buddies listened to the podcast. I mean Ian's great show. He said, did you just get my text? Like a
week ago? Ian Con has a fan in me? Great, he said, like you know you get him on next week? Definitely? What do you want the sooner the better, bad venture? Monday, Monday, I'll ask I'll texting after the show and asked him, like one day next week he's available, make make make him make the decision. Oh Modico mon day No, So I don't know if it's just going to be a segment or if Modico wants to come on for a whole hour. I mean he's more than welcome to do
whatever he wants. Yeah, Well, We'll try and get more do any day, but not Monday free and cone perfect. So my goal today is to find a starting shortstop, is to figure out who I'm going to draft as my as my short stop target. That's hard Get, that's Haard gets whatever. And let's start at the top, which is where the intrigue begins. And I know who started at the top each and every day and tried to compare,
all right, who should go first? This guy or this guy? Well, theoretically like Francisco Lindor is the best shortstop on the board. The problem is he may not be out there on opening day and this injury may recur. And then you're thinking, now what do I do, Frank, What is Francisco Lindor's injury? And why don't you remind all of us listening and watching exactly how long Dr A said this could linger? YEA, So Francisco Lindora's dealing with a cash strain. He was
diagnosed early February. The initial timetable with seven to nine weeks, and you know that timetable right off the bat tells me that you know this was not just some kind of slight routine cash strain. This was a pretty legitimate cash strain here. So seven to nine weeks puts him at you know, right around the end of March early April.
You know, you could miss the first you know, week or two of the season and he can come back and be awesome or based on what Dr A said, and you know, pretty much what I thought Dr would say is, you know, cash strains, especially if you've ever had one, you know, if your home listening or watching it, if you've ever had a cash strain, they suck like they make it hard to walk of course, let alone
run a professional sport. That's a fine steal basis. And that was really something that Doc hit on was you know when he talks about wide receivers in the NFL and he talks about hamstring, right, Like hamstring is the initial muscle that you need to get off the line a scrimmage that gives you that acceleration and burst. He said with Francisco Lindor when you're trying to steal bases, you know that lateral kind of quickness that you need, that initial jump that you need to steal bases. A
lot of that comes from your calves. So especially a guy that you know you want to steal basis for you. Not only is he gonna be at risk not to come close to that again, but he's going to be at a higher injury risks because he is a guy who likes to run and that he is going to need that you know, kind of jump, that acceleration and you know, something that he's gonna need from his calf muscles there. So it worries me, you know, much of much of his value I'm projecting him. I wouldn't protect
him for more than fifteen stolen basis. Much of his value comes from those legs, that ability to run. And even when he's back in April, hopefully he's just not gonna start running. It's just not gonna happen. He's gotta get his legs under him. He's gotta get ready and he's available to go to in the nine weeks. That's without a spring training. So before he really kicks in his high gear, wow, you've already lost couple of months.
And at that point the question becomes, man, if I wanted speed at the shortstop position, should I have just taken trade turner at my spot? And those are the top two short stops off the board this year. Trade Turner and Francisco Lindor. Lindor was a top five pick before this injury. Now he probably goes towards the end of the first round. Are you probably still in the first round though a lot of the expert drafts that I've seen, Francisco Lindor has been going in the second
round really after trade Turner definitely okay. Trade Turners a rock solid top ten, top twelve pick right now. Um and Lindor know, for example, in the tout Wars draft in whole league this is O b P. Francisco Lindor went in the middle of the second round in a fifteen team league. That seems a little it seems a little outrageous to me. Should not happen. I'm doing a best ball draft right now over on fan tracks, and Francisco Lindor went pick sixteen. So that's I have to turn.
I think that makes sense. I think like in a fifteen team league at the turn somewhere around there, I don't want him as my first hitter. Now, that's what it comes down to. Can I go lindwar starting picture? It's risky, man, can you? But I feel like your style of drafting everything I've learned about you this year, and obviously I know of course for a while down try Tender is not exactly your guy either. In the first round. Yeah, it's just so hard to take a
guy and he doesn't kill your power. It's just so hard to invest your first round pick. And you know you hear Adamonis of Scout Fantasy talk about this a lot hereim at two PM today. He talked about this a lot where he likes to get that base of power with his first you know, hitter, first two round picks, maybe even his first three hitters, whatever it might be. He wants to get that base of power and obviously batting average. But you know, everyone's saying power has gone
up over the past couple of seasons. So in order to compete in power, it's not like, oh I can just find it anywhere. You need more of it. So you need those home runs, You need those RBIs gonna need one of these sluggers in the first round. They're gonna give you thirty five to forty home runs. That's why, you know, if you ask me as of right now, I hope no one is listening. Uh. That's in the
Great Fantasy Baseball Invitational. But I have eighth pick, and I've kind of been debating between, you know, going outfielder or going trade Turner because I think, you know, those are gonna be the best players available for me. I think that's of right now. I like a Kuna or Yellow if those guys are available, or even j D Martinez over a guy like Trade Turner, because all right, j D's not gonna give me the stolen basis, but he's gonna give you a leap batting average and elite power.
Ronald Lacuna and Chris Yells are gonna give me a little bit of everything, you know, a lot of bit of everything. So trade Turner, Yeah, I'll give you eighteen home runs somewhere around there. They're talking about now the Nationals want them to attempt seventy five to eighty stolen basis. I believe it, want to see it. He has had a very good conversion rate in his MLB career in terms of you know, stolen basis verse called stealing. That's very fast. He's you know, I think one of the
five fastest players in the MLB. They want him to steal more. Okay me, you know, personally, I can't project him for more than forty five steals. He's gonna give you runs. He's gonna give you a solid batting average to eighty. It's not like he's three thirty or anything. So a hundred runs to e d batting average adequate RBIs. You know, if he's batting second, he'll give you seventy eighty maybe, so you're really looking at a three category player. Two and a half doesn't kill you in home runs
in RBIs. I'd rather go with a guy like Ronald Lacuna or Christian Yellis or J. D. Martinez around that area. But if I am just choosing between the door a straight turner, I will take trade turn trades Charner, as Frank said, didn't he kill you in a category? But you don't want to say that for a first round pick, right Like he doesn't kill you, I can't. I'm with you specifically on ind door, I don't try. I don't want to do it as my first hit because I'm
scared of being killed. But I'm scared of just not getting the full Francisco indoor season. That's what will kill me. Late when it comes to trades, to your owner about
a home runs over forty steals two eight average. It's good, It's real good, well like Ronald Lacunia could do, maybe not for steals a little bit of everything, Christian Yelloch a little bit of everything, and J. D. Martinez in that power is obviously another level more shortstops when we come back on the DFS Daily Roado dot com learned from the game's best DFS players. We don't just give you advice. Does it make you feel great? I thought you're gonna tell me about the fact that what tweet I enjoyed it.
I think you're gonna talk the one where I gotta find it again where Ben Albred said, just another example of videotaping that gets the pass in trouble. Oh God, spy Gate baby, Oh no, Spy eight. People are gonna have a lot of fun with this one, No doubt they should. They should, Okay, Lindor Turner. Anything else you want to get on those two? Or should we move one? What? Then? I'm doing a draft. I wanted Zach Wheeler as m SP threes. Sorry, yeah, trade Turner. Look, I will say
this about Trade Turner. I think why he goes so high in draft is people are still holding onto that two thousand sixteen when he hit thirteen home runs and thirty three stolen bases in just seventy three games. So I think people got a little bit of a taste of what the upside could be from trade Turner. He hasn't lived up to that for various reasons. I believe seen the next year he was he was a little
bit injury, he got off to a slow start. I believe I owned him that year in the league, and then he had like a really really big second half. Last year he was fine, like he still returned value what you wanted. But he hasn't really had that big monster year since over the course of a full season that everyone's kind of hoping for. And I think that's part of why he still goes where he does. People think that he has like this home run sixties stolen base upside based on where he did that year. I
can't really dispute that he might have that upside. He just hasn't really showed us yet. So look, there are certainly, you know, there's certainly downsides the drafting guys like Ronald Lacuna, who you know, it's only his second year in the league, and you know, maybe he hits a sophomore slump and then you know, Christian Yellows had a monster second half. Is he is he gonna be able to you know,
repeat or come anything close to that? Like, you know, they're concerns with kind of everybody outside of Mookie Bets and and Mike Trout. Um. Well, you know, I do think that where trade Turners going is warranted. Top ten, top twelve. I don't have a problem with it. But again, just him versus lind Door because trade Turner is healthy right now for me, that just that makes him number one of my shortstop rankings. All right, continuing on, as we get through the shortstops today, you want to talk
about Alex Bregman. Is a shortstop or a third baseman? We'll have the eligibility for both. Same with Javier Bias of course, spoke you know a lot about him, yes yesterday on the second b A show. Um, what do you wanna do about them? Yeah? So Javier Bias, I don't think we really need to go much more in depth on here. That's a good question right on. Manny Matado too. Should he be part of the shortstop episode
or the or the third basement episode? Great? Do you think third base is a little bit, deepeper, you'd think, let's do it now. Alright, No, you guys the other way. Are you doing now? And then we'll do a little bit of we'll do a little bit. Now, we'll do a little bit then probably won't all right, Okay, Well, I just think that when you drafted the guy like what do you there's probably more third baseman the shortstops. Let's consider Alex Bregman a sho or stopped. Alex Bergman
had a ridiculous year last year. But another one of these guys like Francisco Lindor a l right now, it's training now he if you drafted Brigman or Machan, you'd probably used him at shortstop. Of course, absolutely, So let's get both of those guys, uh, Bregman, Machadow both going around the same spot a little bit after trade turner, would you rather have Bregman or Francisco lindor Alex Bregman, whatever? You have Bregman ahead of Lindor as well? How come? No?
Actually I have Lindor Evlyn Door one spot ahead of Alex Bregman. As he's done every day, he's going to change the rank. He's on the spot Yeah, it's just like Lindora's upside. Obviously hired Alex Bregman's but again, Bregman, it has a bit of an injury risk himself with the elbow thing that's going on. But when we spoke to dr about it, he was, you know, he thought this was more of a proactive procedure with the getting the elbow, you know, the bone chips removed from his elbow.
Alex Bregman, that is um and he kind of you know, he told us he thinks that the power could actually ump with Alex Bregman because he had a procedure like this done already. He contributed an all five categories last season, and that was with the Astro's lineup not being healthy. I mean that was with josel tub missing time, Carlos Korea missing time, George s Bringman midtime last year, and Alex Bergman was still as good as he was. All right, I did it aman ahead of Francis. Yeah. I have
concerns about the Cleveland Indians lineup as well. It's not a good line up. We spoke about this with Jose Ramirez the other day. You know, outside of Francisco, Lindor and Jose. There are question marks like Leonie's Martin gonna lead off for this team as of right now, Carlos Santana the cleanup hitter. They get Jake Bowers. I mean, what are you gonna get out of Jake Hours this year? There's a lot of question marks with the Cleveland Indians lineup. So you have that to deal with, you have the
injury to deal with. I just think Alex Bregman, if you look at his year, his years, he's been a slow starter. Well, he's progressed every single year. I mean, he's done everything that you can ask him to do in terms of, you know, getting better and seeing that progression as much contact as he makes. Remember a few a few weeks ago, we kind of did a Houston
Astros episode. We talked a lot about the the injured, the injured players on that team and their new additions in Michael Brantley, And you asked me, what was the one word that I would used to describe how I feel about Alex Bregman. Do you remember that word? That was very good? It was that I have for Alex Bregman. He's getting better every single year. You know, I think he's gonna be around thirty home runs. The runs and RBIs are gonna be there in the Houston Nastrolls lineup.
It's a great lineup. I wouldn't project more than hen stolen basis, but his quality of contact is great. He doesn't strike out much. He's great for points leagues and roto because again he doesn't strike out and he walks a decent amount as well. Batting average is gonna be there. What's not till about Alex Bregman. I think the only concerned people might have for Bregman Gregg is the fact that he's only done it for one full season. They
don't really have the track record. With Lindor, you kind of have, you know, the past two years he's been really damn good. But with Lindora you now have the question mark of the injury concerns. I'm not as worried about Alex Bregman not having the track record because he's been he's been good the past couple of years. Last years took a step up. Of course, this is kind of like the natural progression that we're expecting from. What if he gets better again this year? Who's to say
it can't happen? Runs something like that. Why wouldn't you know he's only gotten better a year. Why wouldn't he continue to get better? I don't disagreed, and he's got better as the season went on for the most part last year. Would it surprise you one bit if Alex Bregman is one of these guys that's going in the top five picks next year, I wouldn't surprise me. Mhm alright, So a lot of love Alex Bregman here. Would you rather have Alex Bregman and the outfielders that you're taking
around there? And then he did some outfit research last night, the off field guy in the first second round, and look your pitture. Would you take Alex? It's the position scarcity. I'm definitely taking. You are giving a slave to that, dude? You mean five outfielders in a lot of leagues. I understand. I'm definitely taking a Kunya. I'm definitely taking yellow J D. Martinez all ahead of Alex Bury. This is going to be such an argument when we draft together, when you
get so annoyed, I'm not I'm not taking. I'm not taking. I'm not gonna pull like jud Rice Harper up the board just because of the outfield position. If anything, I'll take Bregman and then I'll take one of those guys too, And I hope I got a solid sp one there in the third round. That's probably more likely something I'm gonna do. Okay, Okay with that? All right? Um, continuing on, we did a lot of how are bias yesterday? Would
you rather have Bias or bregmanan right? Definitely too, lindor Bias lindor Chrischer isna like that is not gonna like. I mean, I'm pretty sure Ventre's knows how good Francis Scoo Lindoor is. I hope so, but I woulday Lindoor as well. Okay, Then we get put to put the second base position in perspective of your bibes. Is my number one second basement, he's my number six short stuff. How about that? That just tells you hope top heavily short stop is and how Barren second base probably is? Okay,
who was based number one second basement? By the way, then we get the two more guys that are going right next to each other in that second round before you get the big drop off? Is that fair? Yes? Manny Machado and Trevor Story. Machado playing third base for the Padres, but naturally short stuff eligible given all the short stop he played last season. Many Machado was a first round pick the last couple of years. He's now
dropped in the second round. He's one of these guys like Judge, like Stanton, like black Men, like Freeman, like gold Schmidt, all these guys in the second round that you're used to seeing in the middle to late first round. That's there for you in the second round. Why the drop off from Manny Machado? Why the hate? And I remember we were talking in your draft. He was like there in the third round. I think, what's going on Manna with Chado? Yeah, I think I don't want to
hear anything about he doesn't run things out. I don't care in fantasy, you know what I mean. Whatever, Here's the thing, he was already going in the early second round even before he signed in San Diego, right, So I think that that just kind of tells you, like people trust his skills obviously, And I think I think
we should. We have enough of a track record with ma name Machado, where you now you can project this guy for a two eight batting average close to thirty five home runs, and if he does that, the runs
and RBIs should be there. I've seen a lot of people talking over the past couple of days on Twitter, on Fantasy Baseball Twitter here about how the lineup for the Padres it's really not all that great in terms of like on base percentage, like guys who are gonna get on base ahead of him, So you know, they worry a little bit about the runs in the RBBI totals, where you know, maybe even if he hits thirty two to thirty five home runs, maybe the runs and our
back guys are kind of closer to ninety. I mean, we saw it with Eric Hosmer last year. I mean Hosmer was bad for his own reasons, like he more groundballs as usual. You know, he took a huge step back. He was kind of adjusting to the National League last year. But the runs in rb I totals, that's kind of something you always would get with Hosmer when he was in Kansas City's lineup. Those a huge step back in San Diego, so I know, Baltimore wasn't great last year,
but still a good hitting environment. The lineup was still all right, and then he moved over to the Dodgers, where obviously that's a great line up too. So I do worry a little bit about the counting stats for Manny Machado, but I mean you draw a line for everybody. I mean, he's gonna have dual eligibility, he's gonna have short stop in third base eligibility. I still think that he's worthy of a second round pick, but I do have Trevor Story ranked ada him really after all that,
I like Machado. Wow, I'm really interested to hear this. But it's it's core. It's coors Field, Greg, It's Coors Field, it's the stolen bases going up. Last year with Trevor's story, he made legitimate in progress and a lot of people, you know, worry about the strikeouts for him. He's severely cut down his strikeouts. I mean he was he wasn't below thirty one percent each of his first two seasons and that was, you know, a huge damper on his batting average. Last year, I got an all the way
down to twenty five point six percent. I mean that is huge progress from Trevor Story, and a lot of people, you know, they might counter that by saying you know, well, what if he kind of you know, normalizes back to his you know, thirty. I'll tell you this, He's a young kid, kind of similar to Alex Bregman, who's making improvements.
He's getting better, he's learning on the job here. So I really liked the fact that he cut down his strikeout percentage as much as he did last year five point six percent, twenty seven stolen bases last year as well, to go with everything else that he did. I mean, he most other worldly. Understand he was a legitimate five tool player last year. Greg, and he look, he's still gonna have his his splits, you know, at home in course field a one in forty three o p s.
On the road it's seven eighties. So maybe if you're playing a head to head points or a head to head categories league where you know the week to week production, you need a little bit more consistency there, you probably go Manny Machado. But in Rhoto, where it's really more just all right, what does his numbers look like at
the end of the season. I have the end of the season numbers Gregg looking like this to seventy five, thirty three home runs, ninety runs ninety five r B I S eighteen stolen bases county stats are not going to be far off from a guy like Manny Machado. The home runs are going to be close. You can argue that Trevor's story actually has more home run upside Colorado. I'd give the batting average lean a little bit to Manny Machado. Machado is probably too eighty five. Trevor story
is probably more to seventy two seventy five? What do you hit last year two? So he has the upside, but you bake some strike out, you know, maybe regression into it next this upcoming season, and you get Trevor story about two seventy two seventy five. He makes elite contact. When he does make contact greg Ores Field, he's gonna be thirty three to thirty five on runs. The stolen base edge goes to Trevor story. That's what everyone's trying to find right now. I think it's really close. I
give a slight edge to Trevor story. And I know a lot of people, you know, respected people in the fantasy industry. I think that Trevor story should be a first round. Did you know that name? Machadow? Was six months younger than Trevor Story. Yeah, judging by my reaction, I had not thought that you would find that interesting. And the lineup is a lot better too. In Colorado sign close. I mean you have a guy like Nolan Ronado.
Obviously a lot of people expecting a lot from Daniel Murphy this year, and David Dahl better hitter's environment, better lineup as well. It's close. I give white edge to Trevor Story. Would your answer change in roto league versus points leagus, Yeah? Yeah, in head to head I would go with Machado. I think he's probably gonna be more consistent. Home road splits are still very drastic. I can boo.
Everyone's trying to find stolen basis the twenty stole basis last year, which Trevor Story, I think you get twenty again. I don't. You know. It's really interesting because in twenty sixteen we've played only nineties seven games. He had eight
stone bases, played five games only seven stolen bases. But throughout the minors, in two levels he had across two levels he had twenty three twenty three, so he's always been around a twenty steel guy throughout his minor league career, and we've never seen that reach the Major's until last year. I don't know it's but black. I don't know if
it's confidence, but something has changed with Trevor Story. If you're just looking at stolen bases, I trust Trevor Story more than just Manie Machada who who stole twenty bases back in but didn't have more uh than twenty for the fourteen that he had last year any other year of his career. So if you're looking at that homeward upside as you said, Frank is probably similar. But the point in points leagues where that that strike out, He's a much bigger factor. I think that tips the scale
of me. Right, the cap or nine for many a child was fourteen point seven percent or cap percented rather ascent. Trevor Story is gonna be double that, you know, so you look at the average. I trust my Chaddo more in points things. I'm going with shadow in rotal leagues. I understand the discussion more for Trevor Story. Is that cool? Yeah, Okay, I'm going to take Trevor Story in and um if I asked you, where would Trevor Stories sprint speed on
stat Cast ranked last year in terms of percentile? What would you say, Well, we talked a lot about these guys are the eighty nine percent time? Maybe yesterday? Right, But they were very they were very surprising. And who wasn't It was really prised it was eating nine yesterday? Who was the guy? It was? Um yours? I don't think it was biased, and it was like somebody a little bit A little bit later, I thought maybe Johnny v Army and something like that. Whatever they were, I
wasn't glad. I don't know. So I discussed a couple of times. Nine where would I put Trevor Story two eighty three? Really seven percentile in terms of sprint speed, which is so it's one of the fastest guys in the majors. Then is stat cast sprint speed, which is its feet traveled per second while you're on the base pass It was seven percentile. He was thirty seventh among all base runners last year in the MLB. Who's number one? Tight Jarner? I need a second to pull that up.
He's like top five or six? Yeah, sure, that's crazy. That's that's it's unbelievable, man, That's that's sellar okay. Trevor Story speeds real all right, Frank looked that up during the break. When we come back, even more short stops. We're going to nice pace today, Frank, I feel I like it. We'll get back. We get a really interesting games like ad Alberto Mundency. What do you do about him?
People are one iron buckson shut that. People in this industry love Albert la on the same does it make sense? Will break him down? Prolos Correa and Xander Bogart's as well. Activation mode. He did. But the only problem I A we always saw activation mode in the second half of that game. Because in the first half Lebron was as mediocre as Lebron has been. very enthusiastic hell no, maybe we could. I mean he did play Barbie Girl once on the Frenzy, so not really that far off. He'll just took a hike from Corey Vers. Rank the ball to Corey Verson. Okay, they no there it is. Yeah when I'm getting killed because I saying Friday by Rebecca Black. One of the hottest players um in the NFBC here this season is Adalbert Almond. Say Mondescy is going off the board at the n
FBC pick them at forty one. That is in the middle of the third round in fifteam leagues, the middle of the fourth round m twelve team leagues. Everybody likes pedigree, everybody likes guys that are in the minors, and adlberts Almond to say, but is this price justifiable? Somewhat yes, because look, he's gonna give you stolen bases. We spoke a little bit about the Royals yesterday and how they're
going to run and be terrible. They are going to be terrible, but the only way that they're going to be able to generate offense is throw running the ball like they have to play small ball, So like they're gonna they're gonna steal a lot of bases. They're gonna give these guys the green light in Adalberto Mondessey. He's one of the fastest guys in the league too. You know, we were just talking about sprint speed Byron Buckston. Number one.
Adalbert's home Monessey was eleventh best in all of baseball last year. So he's a very he's a very uh, he's very quick, speedy guy as well. And I thought this was a great point made by Scott White on the on the CBS Sports Fantasy Baseball Today podcast. Was gonna be a gret point, no uh with Adalberto Mondessey, Right, if you just look at his numbers from last year, A lot of what people would do is like they pro rate the numbers. Right. Oh, he had fourteen home
runs and thirty two steels only seventy five games. So if you double that, he's gonna be home runs and and in sixty four stolen bases, right right, Because because this is how it works, and that's what we did for Trey Turner. Right. The year after, you know, he was going in the first round when he kind of broke out. Why isn't Adalberto Mondessey going in the first round now, if you think about it, you're actually getting him at a discount based on players which have kind
of popped up like this in years past. I know he has strikeout issues, that's his plate discipline is leaves a lot to be desired. Let's just let's just put it that way. Four point eight percent walk right last year six point five percent k rate. This guy is not going to be a target of mine in any type of OVP format or head to head points league, but in Rhodo you can argue that he should be going even higher than where he is right now, because you know, he was also a guy who early on
in his career he got called up. He didn't really get a fair shake with the Royals because when he originally got called up, they were a competitive team, so he got sent back down. He's had to work on a few things over the past couple of years, but last year, he when he got called back up, he was giving an opportunity to play every day, and he took advantage of that. Solely keep in mind this is
a short stop. His heart hit rate last he was forty, and he also made concertant justments to hit the ball in the air more thirty seven percent five all rate, twenty one percent line drive rate. Coupled with that hard hit rate is nineteen percent. Home run to fly ball ratio does not seem all that crazy. No, the first thing when you look at is all you see that nine pcent home run the fly ball ratio higher than anything he's ever really done in the minor leagues. You know,
he's kind of a smaller guy. You know, you'd expect him to hit for uh, you know you you want stolen bases out of him, you don't necessarily expect power. When you couple oftent hard hit rate with the with the seven percent fly ball rate, you can kind of maintain a fifteen plus percentage of home run a flyball ratio. And so it's probably gonna come back a little bit. I don't know that i'd expect close to. But again, if he's hitting the ball of that hard like, he's
gonna come close to hitting twenty home runs again. And he's sold thirty two bases in games, and we know the springport speed is there we know he's gonna have the green light. Anytime he gets on base, he's gonna try and steal, So it wouldn't surprise me if he steals forty already five maybe come close to fifty stolen basis, Greg, I think that you can argue that Alberto Modessey and rodal leagues with batting average, which isn't gonna be great,
He's probably gonna be like a two fifty hitter. He should be going harder than where he is right now. So I don't know about that. Um the speed, Yes, in this lineup, on this team, he could be a fifty still guy. No argument from me. He's probably gonna be batting around to fifty, No argument from me. As hard as he hit the ball last year, fourteen home runs in just seventy five games. You extrapolate that and
you know what you have. Like you said, the home run fly ball ratio has ever been close to and I understand why you think it could go up. I don't know if that's true. We've never seen him have that kind of power outside of runs in the minors. Maybe he developed it as he came along. He's twenty
three years old, for sure. Profile says otherwise, last year, his batt ball profile rivals something that you would get from a thirty plus home run hitter in terms of thirty seven percent fly ball rate and hard hit rights. But is it possible that comes back down? Right like hard hit rate the other two major league seasons, Again,
he was much younger. I understand that he could clearly went down to the minors and worked on things like this is something he was consciously trying to do, is hit the ball harder, hit the ball in the airt seven percent. Again, I recognize he's gotten older. I mean, he's grown. Nope, that there's no argument you could do that. Don't you don't you don't think there's a chance of that is not repeated this season? Yeah, I mean there's
definitely a chance. But again, if we were just projecting for a hundred and fifty games for him, even if you regrets that down to let's say thirty seven thirty eight percent, you're still gonna get twenty home runs out of him. No fifty year thinking potentially, Yeah, with a two fifty batting average, and look, it's not a good lineup, but he's gonna play every single day. An argument that I made for Jonathan VR yesterday, is the Royals are not in a position where, you know, if he sucks,
they have to send him down. You know, Mattodika made the comp with Byron bucks and look, I see a lot of parallels because they both strike out a lot, the plate discipline is questionable, They're both great athletes, they both have huge upside. Last year, Byron Buckson was going around the same time he's going, you know, third fourth round in some Roto drafts. People were expecting him to have,
you know, one of these creators. You know what we're expecting out of modesty this year runs forty plus loan basis. That's what people thought they were gonna get from bucks and last year. So I understand some of the parallels the differences. The twins kind of thought that they were going to be somewhat relevant, that they were going to compete for like a wild card spot, and they have other options. You know, if he struggles, the Royals they're projected to be one of the what three worst teams
in baseball this year. I don't know that they have the luxury of saying, all right, Mondestee, you suck, you gotta send you down. Now and we're gonna see what else we get from this. You know, Joe Schmo, I don't think that's gonna happen. I think even if he struggles, they're gonna try and let him work through it. Again. I don't want him in any kind of like head to head format where it's even if it's categories, because
I do think he's gonna be a streaky player. I think he's gonna be very streaky, which lends itself better in the roto format. And he's a guy you know
you have to. I was trying to come up with what's the perfect scenario to draft Adalberto mondacy if you do in a rhoto draft, right, and there were two names that if I get these guys in the first round, Adalberto Mondessey would end up being a conscious target of mine like round three or four, and that would be Jati Martinez or Nolan Ardando because I think I think they're perfect. I think they're perfect commiments to each other. Because Jadie Martinez, look, Jade teams Is in Nolan Aronado
are both four category players. We're gonna give you batting average, they're gonna give you power runs and RBIs there're gonnave you no stolen basis. They are perfect players that you can pare with the guy like Adelberto Mondessey, where you can kind of take the hit at batting average, but he's gonna give you a little bit of pop and
he's gonna give you a lot of stolen basis. Let me give you two names going around, Albert, I want to know who you'd rather have, Adelberg Alondessey or Anthony Rendon. It's a lineup construction question because look if I took if I took in a Kuna or I took a yellow in the first round, and I already have kind of a base of stolen bases. Anthony Rea is another one of these four category players. He doesn't have as much pop as a guy like Ronado, and that's why
he goes in the third, fourth round. He's gonna give you good batting average, gonna give you runs in RBIs. So that's a lineup construction question to me, Greg, If I have a first round pick who already gave me some stolen bases, and I would take I would take Anthemy Brando. If I ended up getting one of these four category players, it gives me nothing in stolen basis, and I would I would, I would go with the Adalbert modesty, would really have Adalberto Mondescy or Vladimir Garra,
Vladim mcguaro. I'm not gonna own him. It's just it's too high of a price tag. I'd rather wait five rounds and take Eloy Jimenez. I know that, you know vladimgarrals I can't miss prospect and I made this comparison right. It reminds me a lot of rookie running backs coming into the NFL, like Ezeki Elliott, Sea Kwon Barkley, who we've never seen them taking a take a snap in the NFL, but their generational talents right, and those guys have kind of proved anyone who has said that wrong.
So Vladim mcguarol might be able to do the same thing. Can't just directly compare because of different sports, But that's what everyone's saying about Vladim mcgarraeol, you can't miss. I'd rather wait five or six rounds and take another supposed to miss prospect in Eloy Amenaz. Like why is why is the difference between those guys that far? How much? How much do you think Vladim Guerrero goes for the auction and should we now nate him first? I I
could see him going like Bucks, is that warranted? I got some auction values. Let me see how MNA say have him down. I'm just wondering. What I'm looking at is twenty five is what he should go for in a teams This is probably all right. I said twenty two. He's probably twenty. So do you I don't know. Are you gonna be on him? Would you rather have VLADIMC. Guerrero or Edelbert Homondessey. It sounds like you don't really want anything to do with Edelbert Tomondessey. I think I'd
rather have lad and it's more fun. It's more fun. Just you know, I just spent like ten minutes kind of like talking up ed Albert Homondessey. He's not really an act of target of mine. I do think in the right situation it makes sense. We've got like if you draft An Erronado or J D. Martinez. I haven't really been in that situation yet, but you know, maybe in the future if I am, He's a player that
I would look at. But there are other short stops that me personally, I could get later on or you know, I would use my I would rather use my second round pick on Trevor Story than use my third or forth round pick on Monescy like I'd rather that's a that's a target of mine. I'd rather target Story or even a little bit later on. We'll get into some of these guys. I'd rather target guy like Jean Sigura maybe too, you know, a round or two later, and a guy like Modesty just because I've seen him do
it before. Would that targeted guy like Carlos Correa. But I don't dislike where modesty is going. I think it's well, it's fair. You think it's fair. I do. Two other guys that are around Mondessey or Carlos Correa and Xander Bogart's think of those guys, I would take modesty over both without and I haven't ranked that way as well, and I have is my seventh ranked short stop. You actually check out Frankie's right over on his Patreon page. Wrong,
I didn't. I didn't reveal my shortstop ring. You will be able to check out. I'm trying to hype you and your call. Come on, well, I want to be factual. Will shortstops to be free? Good question, Greg, You were supposed to come up with a time frame of when I make my Patreon not free. I think that should be free, all right, and my shortstop rankings will be free, and then shortstot ranking should be shortstop ranking should be free. About all the infield will be free once we get to outfield and starting pitching. I was gonna take that off the air well we're talking about right now. That's

Alright, great, absolutely, Zandy, Brogarts, Crols correct, you said undoubtedly you would take aut Alberto Mondescy earlier than Bogarts and Corea. Are you out on both those guys? Are you not targeting those guys? You're just having a like your boy. Well, I'll give you my analysis of Bogart's first. I don't want anything to do with Carl's Corea. I haven't ranked with my twelve Frank shorts. Oh my god, people are probably gonna freak out.
I was just going over by NFPC. I don't want anything to do with him. But then we'll get that after the break with with Chris a Venture, but with the with Xander Bogarts. I'll give you my analysis and then you can kind of tell me what you think about him. To me, he's been a little bit too much all over the map in terms of career. Definitely, I don't want to doubt the talent, because I think you can use a talented player, and I think we
saw that last year. But I think that there's just too much volatility and a guy like Xander Bogart's where he's going, you know, you gotta use like a fourth fifth round price tag on him. And look at one year it's been last year. Twenty three home runs a hundred and three RBIs great year before ten homers sixty two RBIs to seventy three year before that home runs a hundred fifty runs great year before that seven homers one RBIs so an average of three three twenty batting average.
I do think that he's a legitimate hitter. Look, he's a two eighty four career hitter, so you know I trust that. Um last year we saw the flyball percentage second highest of his career. He started to uh, raise his unch hang a little bit. Last year thirty five point six pent flive all rate. He hit twenty three home runs and only a hundred and thirty six games. Remember he missed some time last year, but his ice was two thirty four, much higher than anything else that
we've ever seen in his career. His next closest mark was one is so so, and he keep that up again. You know, Xander Bogarts is still pretty young. He's only six years old, so maybe he's another one of these guys that's just kind of like making his natural progression here. Thirties seven point nine percent hard hit rate. Okay, I like it. I mean it's not like Trevor's story. It's it's good for forty it's good. It's a lovely average. It's it's fine. I like it. Um, I don't dislike
Xander Bogart's I think it's fine where he's going. I think that there's just a little bit too much volatilty year to year for him to be a target of mine in the fourth, fifth round. That makes sense. I like Xander Bogarts. I like them more in head to head points. He makes a lot of contact. You know, I like them more points than I do in proto's
gonna stand that anywhere. Yeah, we'll talk all about Bollgards with Ventrau coming up next, as well as Carlos career jeans Agord More Our number two, the BFS is up next
