Virginia Zakis have inside injuries. We'll join us coming up, you know, about fifteen minutes from now.
It's well twenty pm Eastern time. For Frankie, how's it going. I'm doing well, gree how are you doing? I just sleep last night. I slept well and you need very silly as she took a nap at like nine pm after dinner. Terrible idea. So then he woke up at ice cream, watched the show and said, we're going to bed now. I'm like, I'm really going to bed. She hasn't been old hyper and like I'm trying to sleep, Like why do you got to do this right now? Are you a napper? Um? No, not really yes, And
I'm not like a lot. I can't do it because if I nap, then I can't sleep in it. It doesn't really bother me as long as if at the right time, Like sometimes they go home from work and it's like six is or whatever. I have TV on, I can see my I doze, but like I'm not like out cold, you know, like someone opens the door, I'll be a week an instant. So yeah, I know people who are chronic nappers like sleep for hours when they get home from work and they just go to
sleep at night. To have no idea how that Judie can sleep, wake up at ten o'clock or eleven o'clock on a Saturday or weekendor whatever, right do activities are on three four o'clock, takes another nap until about six six thirty, has dinner, comes home, it was back to sleep. That's crazy. I don't know. I don't know how that's possible. I don't get it, do not get it. I can't fathom them. And but I still um hasn't been great recently. I keep waking up early in the morning, like five,
six am, and I can't go back to sleep. But today it wasn't so bad. It was a little bit better today. It's like going on greed. Lot going on in the world of fantasy baseball, a lot going on in betting baseball at too. How do we do last night? You know, I know I missed the half a run. Both of mine were wrong, all right, And shout out to shout out to the Padres defense, who I believe had four errors last night. And I was watching that start because they had Joey lu CAZy starting in multiple places.
They did him no favors. So yeah, shout out to the Padres defense. Like the Padres moneyline, they would they were in a I mean solid position. Joel CAZy actually allowed to earned runs three runs total because the defense was terrible. But yeah, they couldn't really score off Sean Anderson either, so that didn't work out well. And Zach Eflin. To his credit, I like to Philly his money line. He pitched awesome eight innings, nine strikeouts. He was great.
Meryl Kelly was a little bit better. So didn't work out, Grey, No, it didn't work out, But the idea I thought it was kind of right on the money. Uh, today's poll question. We had have alluded to it yesterday. Frank, We're finally gonna do it. Yeah, there's a lot of fantasy analysts. I understand. You want to promote yourself as someone that gets a lot of things right. That's how you sell yourself, and that's how you get people to read your work
and listen to your shows. And of course everyone wants to get things right. But if people read your work and they listen to your shows, then they'll know what you said before the season, and they'll know whether you were right or wrong, whatever it might be. So you don't have to remind everyone how right you are all the time. So I just thought, let's put out a poll. See what see what the fans think. The people who
obviously listen and watch. Do you do you want to fantasy analysts, it's constantly telling you how right they are all the time. Someone who tells you that they're right and wrong, tries and learn from their mistakes, or someone who just tells you they're wrong all the time and tries and have fun with it. Because actually we might be closer to that. We're probably in the middle. Like we still do say when we get things right, we definitely tell you what I've just let off the show
telling you that we got our bets wrong esterday. It's true. It's true, we got ourselves on the back, but not like hardcore. It's more like, yeah, I don't. We don't definitely beat our chests, but Greg, I mean, we know a how to people who do this, who they've never got a single thing wrong in their lives. I don't know. It seems a little dishonest to the viewer. I agree, you know, I agree with that too much stuff. The other thing we really wanted to accomplish getting the votes.
Tell us what you want a respond to the chat call on three sixty seven nine if it's working, I don't know. I can't promise that. UM no, not working, don't call it, just respond or tweet at us. Um more than we really wanted to hit on today, And we're getting like the stuff from last night. We always tend to, but I wanted to make sure we heat on this. I'm gonna do it at the top so I don't forget Frank, And that is is there still home? Right?
It's June twelfth today? Watch this wrong? Okay, it's June twelfth, yesterday, due tonight. We are through June twelfth. In baseball, there's a lot of guys that you drafted, that you believed in, and you want to know is there still hope? And the most common name that I've been tweeted about, You've been tweeted about, you had worries about yourself. He's Manny Machado.
About a month ago, almost exactly a month ago, you said, Manny Machado is one of those guys that you are most buying in on that you want to buy low right now. A month later, not all that much has changed. Has your opinion changed in terms of buying low? Yeah, I would still like to buy low on Manny Machado. It's not the same situation as Joseer Mirriez. While Jose Mirriez does have a to three year track record of being a very good player, and his first half last
season was m v P caliber. Manny Machado has done this for a long time. He's been a really really good player for a long time, and I think I have more faith in him bouncing back than other players
that we are going to talk about. If you look at Manny Michado's line at this point the season to forty batting average, ten home runs, thirty one runs scored, thirty three RBIs, he has not lived up to what we have wanted from him, obviously, you know, we were expecting probably close to thirty five home runs, maybe ten to fifteen steals, and only has one stolen base a you know, two eighty plus batting average. He was a borderline first round pick. He was a late first early
second rounder, and for good reason, multi position eligibility. Again, He's done this for a long time, I mean dating back to you know, twenty fifteen, this guy has been a perennial over thirty home runs, you know, over a hundred runs scored, gives you stolen bases, and I'm still buying. I'm still buying on many Machado. I think that there are better days ahead, Like there are things that he's
doing this year that he needs to correct. Most definitely the strikeout rate for him, and swinging strike rate is up two percent this year. His strikeout rate is up seven percent from last year. It's that's twenty one point three percent, and his career mark in the strikeout department sixteen point seven percent, so it's even up there as well. And yes, that can mean the difference between you know,
thirty to forty points of batting average. If you're striking out seven eight percent more than you are in years past, then yeah, that's going to affect your your overall batting average output. And if you look at his bat and ball data, forty two percent. Hard hit rate up this year for Machado, although it's up for everyone, but it's a career best for him. Um needs to correct the infield fly balls as well. The strikeouts and the infield
flyballs are what's killing him. And I said this before the season two, I wanted to pay a little bit more attention to infield flyball rate. For his career's fourteen percent, this year, it's eighteen point seven percent. You have to realize that eighteen point seven percent of his batted balls
our infield flyballs. Those are automatic outs, so almost one fifth of his batted balls right now are automatic outs and one fifth of his plate appearances are strikeouts, So that's what's absolutely killing his batting average right now, and those are all up. Like the infield flyball is up, the strikeout rate is up. So if it comes back to anywhere near his career norm, then he's going to be better rest of season. And the fan grass projections
all expect him to be better too. They have him for a between two seventy and two eighty batting average rest of the way, anywhere from seventeen to twenty two home runs the rest of the way, which would put him right around, you know, thirty, slightly over thirty home runs for the season. He's going to be better, Greg, So for everyone who's freaking out, what do I do with Manny Machado? Should I be buying low on him right now? I've sent out a few buy low opportunities.
What are those by opportunities that you sent out frank trade offers or they legit I I don't remember specifically. It was like you, Darvish, because this person needed a starting pitcher and like a middle infielder who's semi breaking out. I don't remember who it was, so it was like a let's say top twelve middle infielder and a U Darvish for Darius and Tommy Lostella's are you telling me it wasn't time to the cell but maybe something like that.
So probably could have done better there. But if you can, if you can buy low, it's something that I would look into do. I think he's gonna be better. I don't think it's just oh first year of a contract playing in the NLS. He played half of the season in the NLS last year. He was perfectly fine with it. There's just a lot like pressure, right like you going to New York and you're struggling, like you're gonna kind of chalk it up to the New York pressure. You
don't have that in San Diego. Yeah, Like they weren't really expected to make the playoffs this year. They're kind of scuffling right now. They're two games under five hundred. Talk about Paddock a little bit later on as well. But I think we have a month enough of a track record from a childo where if his numbers just normalized to where they usually are in terms of infield flyball rate, strikeout rate, the battle ball numbers are still there.
The expected batting average. If you look at that, it's it's not as good, it's not where it normally should be. That's because of the strikeouts. So overall, I do think Maniado is gonna better. And ball ratios is a little bit closer to right a thirty percent now traditionally as a fift, so it goes off like not significantly. Also, he's been terrible against right handed pitching this year, great god off this year to sixteen batting average six o
nine o p s against rights. In his career to seventies seven eight oh nine o p s against rights. I don't think that this guy just forgot how to hit against right handed pitching. He is clearly struggling right now. But again, if any of these numbers normalized to where they are supposed to be what we've seen out of Manni Matado for so long, then he is a prime by low candidate right now, and that's what I believe him to be. Okay, what other players do you believe?
He's a prime by low candidate up to that level, like Manny Machado's. One of them is Jose Ramirez or those two guys that you're buying low at the moment. No, no, I I have a little bit more concerned when it comes to those guys. Obviously, with Jose Ramirez, I mean he's the top. He's he's the top of the pecking order when it comes to severe underperformance this year. I mean I tweeted out the other day it was it was June eleventh that day, Greg so I actually got
the date correct. But um, I basically labeled him as a bust. Like there's no way around it when it comes Josie. He's batting around two hundred, He's been at that mark er below for most of the season. His expected numbers, he's he's expected like a two forty batting average, he's expected slugging his expected woe but all around league average or worse. We did not draft Josier Meres to be a league average hitter. We drafted him to be a you know, guy with a you know, two e
D plus batting average. That's what I was expecting out of Jose Ramirez. And it's just it's not happening right now, and it's really baffling. And I don't know that there's any one thing that you can kind of put your finger on to figure out what's up with Jose Ramirez. You know a few people have tweeted at me, Well, there was a there was a steroid report last year, a p e D report, like the p D report. I looked into this, what it happened in May, and
he didn't really start struggling struggling until August. Now, maybe once he heard the report, maybe he stops using stuff and then it takes a few months to affect his performance, and maybe that's a real possibility. Again, this is just speculation, but there's nothing else that you can really point out. I tweeted out an article from Tom Verducci where he
broke this down in depth. Basically, the past three or four years, Joseiramirez was the best hitter in baseball in terms of turning on inside fastballs, and basically since August he's been one of the worst. So you don't just lose that ability overnight. So there's some underlying issue when it comes to Jose ramire Is, and I really don't have as much faith in him that he's going to turn around. When it comes to yas Peak, a lot of similar issues to Manny Machado actually greg for his career.
How about this I guess right handed pitching two eighty two batting average seven OPS. Peak was always someone who actually had reverse splits. He's better against prities than he was lefties. Strike at rate for his career against righties this year two oh six six oh three ops a seven percent strike at rate against right handed pitching. Now for Puig, at least the counting stats are still there for him, Greg He's on page for twenty seven homers,
eighty three ribbies, twenty twenty two stolen bases. That's a really good year from Peak, and I think most people would take that if he was giving you his to seventy batting average, are you expected? The problem is he's batting to twelve and he's actually what he's doing differently is he's trying to lift the ball too much. There are there are guys in the game that are capable of lifting the ball, and then there are guys that it's just not natural for them to do it. And yeah,
Sale Peak is one of those guys. He's one of those. He's normally been around a forty groundball rady, hits a lot of line drives, not really known for being that much of a flyball hitter. And I think he's stressing a little bit too much, maybe because he's gonna contract year, because he's in Cincinnati, so he's in a smaller ballpark. Maybe he's trying consciously to hit more home runs. Uh. The strikeout rate is actually is up this year as well,
the swinging strike rate, the chase rate. I think he's putting a lot of pressure on himself to try and live up to this contract year, and he wants to earn a contract. I think he just has to go back to what he's uh, he's used to doing, hitting more line drives, hitting the ball on the ground and just be yourself. Yeah. Peak, But the counting stature still there. You see the two thirties seven babbit it's god awful. That's because it goes hand in hand with him hitting
more flyballs. Hit more flyballs a the lead to home runs, which don't count for babbit anyway, and you're gonna normally guys who had a lot of fly balls are low BABIT hitters all like a Joey Gallo because a lot of flyballs are outs or home runs. So that's why you see the batter than the batting average so low for yas again, like Mannie Machado the past two or three years from Puig, if he just gets back to doing what he was doing those years, then the numbers
will normalize and we're looking rest of season. What can you do rest of season? So if he gets back to being a even a two six seventy hitter and keeps with these counting stats and is aggressive on the base paths, then yeah, yeah, peak will be fine. But I have a little bit more concerned with Puig than I do Machado because not much of a track record, a bit of a headcase, he's in a contract year,
seems like he's pressing a little bit. The plate discipline is a little bit more all over the place when it comes to puigu um As opposed to Manni Michado. So if I'm ranking them, I'm most likely to buy right now Machado in terms of turning it around, then Puig, and then Josier Mirrors. I I just don't have a lot of faith in Josie Mirrors. Is there anybody else?
I mean, those are big three, and those are the names that we're getting major, major questions on night, and I agree, like I wanted a monthly when we have this conversation. I wanted to, like Cosie Ra mirrors. There's nothing that said he was gonna turn it around many how there were signs yes, if we got a few as well, I rank him in the same way. Is there anybody else who comes to your mind that's kind of like this. I'll just throw two pictures out there
real quick before the break. Noah Syndergarden, Jack Flaherty. There has been guys that I've been kind of yeah, all right, we'll take a break, wanning into what happened last night with Chris Paddock as well in a little bit, but comed up next. I'm the best. I'm the best fantasy analysts of all time. I'm the best FANDUL player. No one can beat me. Oh man, I had a really good, really good night too. How did they lose? Because I was in you you know who it was, m m hm m hmm. Yeah it was your boy, Ramond Loriano and Jeff McNeil. You had those guys in your lineup, Ramone, Mariano Greggy by the way, Oh my goodness, gracious you did that. I think it could be a good disgracious with um. Well,
I mean, did you see what he did yesterday? I was playing against him in one of my my home leagues in a in a point did not Actually he had a grand slam and two stolen bases. He proba like seventeen fantasy points in my home league, which is basically like a quality start from a picture. The guy has just been on real. I tweeted about this last night. Let me see if I can pull it off for you. Greg. It's basically been since early to mid May. He's just been a complete stud. Here you go, Greg, so a
little bit over a month now. Since May eight, Ramone Loriano is thirty seven. This is including yesterday three oh six batting average, six home runs, nineteen runs scored, sixteen rb i s, and five stolen bases. These are my trout level numbers, Greg. Over the past month, Romo Loronando has performed like Mike Trout to what you say, Breck, You're right we should have um. Alex Smith is all the super hot. Oh actually funny. Sorry, I'll show you
this during the break. Some one of my patrons on Patreon, they private messaged me yesterday and they said, I listen to your show yesterday. I know that you don't like to uh toot your own horn so too much, but you were so right about Malex Smith. He said, you need to give Greg crap every single day for the rest of the baseball season. He said, I needed stolen basis. I picked up Alex Smith. This guy has been a godsend. Shout out to Patreon. I subscribed paton right now. There
you go. You will get the best fantasy analysis of all time. That meating me. No, No, that's just me imitating every fantasy analysts who thinks they're the best, which just goes back to the poll, goes back to the poll question. Yea, how about you pat me on the back too while we're at agree Yeah, there you go. You can't see you might have hurt moving over these obviously. I love that we're doing a lot of video elements. We're not on videos on the back job. Yeah, a
little pad on the back like that, Alex Smith. Shout out to Alex. And to be fair, I think in both leagues that we played together. I own him. I do not follow my own advice. I follow Frank's advice. Yeah, well you should ask me about Josh Bell, Greg, I did. I don't think I told you to drop Jo. You said, yeah, you have no issue with me dropping Josh Bell. We're gonna have to go back to the tape. We can, uh. While Greg is doodling with his share, I think it's
worth mentioning we should bring this up. We'll have a little conversation here about Chris Paddock because everyone's freaking out rightfully. So we got the report yesterday in the middle of the day that he's going to be sent to High A ball. Uh, And everyone's like minor league endings count the same as major league nings. Well, he's not really gonna pitch in in High A ball. He's going there, you know, maybe when it's his turn in the rotation, he'll like have a relief day, like he'll throw like
a bullpen something like that. But they are doing this to limit his endings. And I see people talking about like manipulating service time, blah blah blah blah blah. Well, he started the year in the majors and right now he's on pace for a hundred and fifty six innings pitched. Last year he only pitched ninety innings in the minors. So a realistic jump forward forty forty five innings, if
you want to be aggressive, maybe fifty. That puts him for between a hundred and thirty and a hundred forty innings. You're being aggressive on his step forward this year. We mentioned earlier on in the show, we were talking about Machado. The Potters are two games under five hundred. They're five games out of the wild Card. They're not out of it by any means, but this is a team that's more so built for the future. They have one of the best farm systems in baseball, they're one of the
youngest teams in baseball. They're looking towards the future. They need to basically do what the Warriors didn't and kind of protect Chris Paddock from himself little bit here. So everyone's freaking out. I understand he's been mostly really really good this season. He scuffled a little bit lately, but he's gonna be back. Greg, What what do you expect? How many weeks do you expect him to be down
in minors before he's back. So we're chatting about this before the show began, and he pitched about what do we say last year? So he pitched ninety innings last year, So I thought he was gonna be good for one thirties currently on pace for one of the six you told Nick, So that means he has to go probably about thirty innings down realistically, right, So that's actually more so than I figured out downstairs. I said three weeks
three he starts, it's more like five starts. I think there's a chance if they hold him down now break He also rais exactly what you need. It's not a month, it's a month from now. It's a month from now. And if you hold him now he missed five starts, then he's good for the entire rest of the year. Again, as Freik mentioned, if San Diego is out of it, though, they're not gonna push this kid in September, there's no
reason too. So I think then there's a chance that you bring him back a little before the All Star Break. Maybe there's certainly a chance they bring him back for a start before the All Star making because then you have a week and you can reconfiguree ther rotation. He missed a couple of weeks here, so I think there's a chance he misses like three his next three starts, maybe brought back sometime in early July, and then you
have the All Star break something like that. And this could be a blessing in disguise as well, if it turns out the potteries are somewhat in a wild card race down the end of the season. If they held him out now, then you're gonna have more of Chris Paddock later on in the season. Shout out to the closer,
Chris Venture who brought this to my attention downstairs. He says, oh, well, you know, if we can have Chris Paddock for the you know, the stretch run of Fantasy Baseball or you know, the head to head Fantasy playoffs, and that's actually more meaningful. I'd rather have Chris Paddock then than than now. I understand you've got to make it to the playoffs, but um, having Chris Paddock later on in the season could also help. But again, if they're out of it, then maybe they
just kind of like shut them down in September. If if they're not, if they're not going for anything. But overall, I mean, Greig, we knew this was gonna happen, right. We said that earlier on season when we all had it was pitching as well as he was. We said, if you can trade him for a top top twenty starting pitcher that you have more faith is going to make every start all like a Jack Flaherty. That's the example we kept giving. But basically, anyone in that range
and make the trade. And I also think if you're in a keeper or dynasty league and you realize that this isn't your year and the person who has Chris Paddock this is their year, you can kind of prey on them right now, and that's something that you should be going out there and trying to do. Dynasy and Keeper. You should be trying to buy Chris Paddock while everyone's freaking out. I just it's unbelievable. I'm sorry. Yes, Chris Paddick's gonna be back keeper leagues, dynas is you're feeling great.
I am gonna say, as you mentioned, though, if they get into September and they're out of it, he gets shut down. If you were trying to fight for that playoffs it is a redraft league and you were playing the end of August and Tember is your playoffs, it might be an issue. It really might be. Yeah. Look there, you're allowed to have skepticism when it comes to Chris Paddock for the rest of the season. The only people who really know are you know, the Padres front office,
Chris Paddock himself. They said anything they I mean, they basically have just said that they're trying to limit his work, like I knew that. Yeah, I mean they haven't. I haven't seen any like crazy quotes, right, I believe that our one of our sponsored podcast, the Fantasy Sports Radio Network, Fantasy Baseball Hour, with Matt Striker, Mikero, Rotto Coop. I saw this on Twitter last night that they actually got Chris Paddock's brother to call in to there to the podcast.
So when we when we put that on demand it on today, you can listen to that and get some more details when they today, Golden They recorded it last night, so I wish I could he had a phone. The phone line's working. I'll just call Striker right now. If what he said, I don't know, all right, but yeah, a little a little bit of plug for that podcast. But yeah, you might be able to get more details when it comes to that. But ultimately, uh, it's it's
a hazy situation when it comes to Chris Paddock. But I do still believe in buying low and keeper in Dynasty and Redraft. I don't know that I would be trying to actively acquire him. I'm not just actively trying to get rid of him either, you know, if I can afford to hold onto him, So I spec that's what I would do. I speak of it a lot.
So Dennis Lynn, who's Apologize beat reporter for The Athletic, I want to say, tweeted out the option patic does not sound would be sound like he will be down long the likely planets for packs only miss one turn of the Big League rotation. Okay, yeah, I believe it when I see it, I think it's probably like at least two or three, but they're you know, they say something like that to try and calm everyone down, like oh,
he's only gonna miss one. And then it turns out like we're two or three weeks later and everyone's like, oh, well, I thought it was only gonna miss he was only gonna miss one. Star was Chris Paddick. Yep. So just something to pay attention to. Obviously, justin Verlina is incredible. Yeah, yeah, yeah, pretty good. Fifteen kys zero walked or man that was his uh that was his career high and strikeout school
just surprised me. Yeah, I thought it would have been highed to career high fifteen strikeouts last night, nine swinging strikes on. You know, it was nuts to me. Our guys at Daily Rotor dot com. And I'm not pipping them, and we're talking about the pole and when things. People get things right, nobody calls out people get anything wrong more than I do. But the Daily Roado last night, you watched the FanDuel Hurry it yesterday and it was a combination of Ricky and Drew filling this thing out.
Verlinder was their starter. Okay, you're not not telling me much. Although I called him, I was like facing the Brewers, like sure you want to do that? He's like, yeah, yeah, fine. Verlinder was his top play on the board. He's under the radar pitcher was Danny Duffe? You pitched well, Tigers strained him in the pit league. Fine, let's under the radar hitters last night? Rady to Les j Mancini Houn and a triple really really impressive last night. Let's go
they're doing a great job. Really, he was really impressed by that. Um No, wils did a great job last night. Greig Jordan's Yamamoto. How how about the debut for the kid man. I was actually watching MLB Network that had him on. They interviewed him, uh, talked about his first start with him. Did you know he actually went to high school with Marcus Mariota the Hawaii It's awesome. So he was a freshman when Marcus Mariota was a senior. So there you go, Hawaii producing a NFL quarterback and
how a Marlins starting pitcher at the MLB level. So he was great elamrto last night seven show. In his five strikeouts two walks, he allowed just three hits at a hold a good parking Marlins park, faced the Cardinals, who aren't exactly the Marlins when it comes to hitting here, I assume Yallamoto gets another start at least. How interested are you picking up Yellowmodo now? I have I have
slight interests. He actually went for seven dollars out of a hundred in one of my home leagues, Like we run Wednesday, Friday and Sunday FAB, so he went for about he went for seven percent of FAB here in my home league. I wouldn't be that aggressive on him in deeper lys. I'm gonna take a shot. It's kind of similar to you know, when we talk about any Giants pitchers, any Morlins pitchers, half of their home starts are really favorable starts because they pitch in such big ballparks.
And Yamamoto is gonna have to be able to get more swings and misses at the major league level if he wants to to continue to perform this way. He only had eight swinging strikes on last night. That's an eight point four percent swinging strike raight and league averages around eleven percent this year. And his first pitches he threw a heat threw first pitch strikes to fourteen of twenty four batters faced. That's fifty eight point three percent.
So both of those numbers are going to have to improve. But I like what I saw from him. Right he's not overpowering fastball, but he mixes in four other pitches that he throws pretty confidently. He has a is a cutter,
a slider, a changeup, and a curve. And he's actually supposed to be known for his curveball, but his slider it's kind of like a I don't want to I don't want to boasted too much, but it looked a little bit like that Jose Burrio slurve that he throws, where it just kind of like sweeps across the strike zone, in on lefties and away from right e's. But it was like a slurve type slider where he made a
few people look very foolish last night. And you want to get the Cardinals lineup, I mean there that's no slouch of a line up two. So to give you that much depth, seven endings, five strikeouts. I really like what I saw from him. I have interest, obviously, and and it only should be owned already fifteen teamers. I would like to pick him up twelves if you have someone on your bench that you're not using a speculative ad for him, you know, one to maybe three bucks.
I don't have a problem with it. Greg. I think he's gonna get another start, maybe he's in the rotation. Short term, we'll find out what's going on with like Jose Urania Caleb Smith. But I think that they're going to be pretty safe, especially when it comes to Caleb Smith. Yamamotos next start comes June, if he's still in the rotation against the same St. Louis Cardinals that he faced last night, this time in St. Louis. He's actually projected for a two star week next week if he sticks
around for that long. St. Louis and who else. You know, I can pull it up. Yeah, I know, I knew St. Louis was the next team that he can tell you hold on, I can pull it up in a moment for you. It's it's the Cardinals and in the Phillies in Philly, So I don't love that. No, that's not so good. That's not so good. I don't love that. Yeah, both of those on the road too. So uh well, man Moodigon next week. He'll help us figure out whether
or not we want to use Jordan Yamamoto. But I think with those two matchups on the road to a little bit more hostile, probably with Lean with right now not using him even though he's on a two star week. Let's go from a young picture to a veteran that was fantastic yesterday. And it's not just justin Berland and Bruce co Hamels in Colorado yesterday, the over under for this game was twelve twelve and a half. Right, you like the under and I said there was. That's scary.
The Cups put off ten runs themselves and they still hit the under thanks to Coal Havil seven shoot out in he's in Colorado, nine cas, he walked one. He did a lot of six hits. Now if he can't get Virginia on the line. Uh. In a bit, we asked Rabanolan Aronado because Hamils did hit Ronado in the arm, but Black said there was no significant damage, which is not which is encouraging. You're not like all that encouraging.
Like I wanted to say that he's fine, but yeah, there's no significant damage, which means that there's damage, right, Yeah, like there's at least minor damnit. I feel like he broke his arm. It's not there was There was four people hitting this game, yes, already two on east side. Why didn't Why didn't you know where were the injections yesterday? Gosh right, Joe must Grove barely touches someone's shirt, Josh Donaldson, and he gets rejected because Josh Donaldson wants to fight
hit doesn't make any sense. But when it comes to Cole hamil's really just putting together a nice year. Here greg twelve percent swinging strike rate, right in line with last year's numbers. He's got a two point nine eight e r A. Uh, the underlying numbers say that there's gonna be some regression for him. He's got a three
point eight eight x FIT. I wouldn't expect him to pitch to a sub three e r A. But if he can give you a three five three six e r A with his eight point eight case per nine and a fifty three percent groundball, right, that's the biggest difference for him. He's able to mitigate some of these walks because he's over three walks per nine. It's always kind of been an issue for Hamil's but he's able to mitigate some of those walks because he's he does get a decent amount of swings and mrs almost a
strike out for ending. But the fact that the groundball rate is up as high as it is fifty two point eight percent right now, if the season ended today, that would be Cole Hamil's highest market in the season in his career. So to go into Coors Field yesterday, pitch those seven endings, seventeen swinging strikes on ninety three pitches whole. Hamiles has been a godsend, Greg, He's been unbelievable for the clubs and for fantasy owners. Would you say he's better than Kyle Hendricks gig hold oh oh
my pet on back? Yeah, you can't hear it, but Greg Sausman is patting me on the bat pat on the back too. So take a break, final break, The program, Best, Best Forever, and and more come out next. Alright? Michael Jackson met him? Horrible interest songs is Brian? That's okay, that's before it's time. You know Greg in this? You are you boring? Brian? It sounds so weird to hear that documentary, so he just turned on Yep, January. Have
you read that? Have you read that? Bryan? All right? Uh, back with you here on the b f f's Frank Stample, Greg Susman and Frank a lot of patting you back today. Yeah, we're doing exactly what we're not supposed to be doing. Greg great, Uh, No one Arnado, Um gets hurt yesterday. It's hitting the arm. David Donald continues to rank another three game for him. He's been ridiculous, dude, not much power, but it's just the average is really really good. Um,
let's get in the bruland there here. I love that they all came in. It's Lefty too, Greg, he's been very very good Berland yesterday, I told you the fifteen strike out's a lot of three runs overre seven innings, four hits, didn't walk anybody, only three runs, you lad. We're all on solo home runs from you as a money Garandal or Ryan run and Eric Thames. He does even get a win as his one goes in the fourteen and the Astros actually lose this game six to three.
Branda Woodruff gotta match him. And then the amount of strike outs, but seven things and three run ball, four hits, uh, three walks, six ks. Nice job by bullpens in bull on both sides until the ash was ultimately blue. Yeah. And for Justin Verland, he's got a two point five o e r A on the season, a zero point seven three whip. Are you serious? It's like this guy's pitching like an elite reliever. He's zero point seven three whip.
It's just absolutely insane. He doesn't have a three point four three x fit and at three point zero eight Sierra, So I think there's gonna be some slight regression for Justin Verlander. He's pitches more to fly balls, and it's his hard contact rate is up this here. Everyone's hard contact rate is up this year. But his swinging strike rate is just absolutely ridiculous fifteen point nine percent, his oh swing, his chase rate thirty nine percent, like a
fine wine greggy. Justin Verlander just getting better with age. Even if the e r A rises to like the high twos, even the low threes, he's gonna give you a ton of strike. Guy, He's gonna give you a massive whip. His walks have been awesome this year, one point seven zero right in line. With last year's one point five six walks for nine. So justin Verlander easily and trenched as one of the top two or three starting pitchers in fantasy. He's awesome. He's how how many
years in a row are we gonna doubt this guy? Greg? I didn't doubt him this year, like I think we initially did, but then we came around, Well, why didn't we bid on him? Then? Greg? Why do we end up with Trevor Bauer? Because that was the plan. Friend plan were alan was Trevor Bauer. Garrett Cole probably should have got Garret Cole, and then the plan for hitters was Ronald Lucoon you or Christian Yelloch. We probably a really good team. Imagine we had yellowt and Garrett Cole
or Yellow and Verlander. Oh my gosh. Like the plan, the idea was right, process over results, process over results. Not really that you know what. Ronald da cun is having a fine season, it's just not Christian Yellows the season. I would like to look up what Ronald Cuna is on Pace four actually, which I will do. Well, you
introduce whatever you want to talk about next, Craig. Oh, we should talk about the blue Jay's bullpen, because Ken Jiles, we should talking about that and everything else that happened. I don't think I can Giles on the list, did I? Or maybe I did? I remember anyway? Before that, ronalda Is on page for two eighty three six home runs,
twenty one steals, runs, scored a hundred eight ruys. That's a really, really good It's not Christian Yellis, but that's a damn good year, like someone who was worth taking as a top six pick in right around we had the Ken Jiles in just one second? What's up? Crazy trade in he releague? Trade in my league? All right? What do you got? J was in the last place? Traded away Justin Verlander, Robbie Ray, whit Meryfield and a
sixteenth round pick. I mean, this is this has to be some kind of crazy fire sale for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And a third round pick and you keep players forever. Four years? Has lad already been kept? I've been kept one year, for three more, for three more years. He gets vlad a third round pick, he gets lad In Verlander, Robbie Ray, Merryfield and who is this Robbie Ray Verlander? Wit? That's it? And I like a late pick. Is that a fair trade? I don't know, what do you think?
It seems like a trade that if it happened in my league I would be pretty frustrated about. I mean, it isn't it's a lot to give up. I'm like, we just talked about verlind top three pitcher in baseball,
Robbie Ray, top thirty five starting pick. You're in Fantasy baseball and with Merrifield, who position, versatility, second base, outfield, batting, it all right, Well, maybe it's not so bad because he's a third round pick and Vlader mc guireo is probably gonna be like a borderline first second round pick and Fantasy next year keep him for three more years. He seems like, what side are you on? I don't even know what. It seems like the person who gave
up Verlander give up a little bit too much. You get Lad Yeah, and a third round pick and a third round pick. I mean that's not nothing. Yeah, but like you can't even keep lad forever. You can just keep for the next three years. But he has him late, he has him round. It's not it's not one of the worst keeper lead. I don't think it's hard. I've heard like the worst things have happened in my keeper leave. He would have lad in the fourteenth next year, that
it's twelfth, in the tenth. It's I think it's not egregious, but I would slightly lean that giving up Verlander winch in Robbie raised a little bit. So to me, it's basically, let's say Radford Orlander. Okay, we have any issue with that because I wouldn't and no issue with that. Okay, take that out of it, so that it's whit Maryfield and Robbie Ray for a third. It's so egregious in a keeper league. I'm fine with that. I have no complaint.
I mean what Maryfield himself was like a third round pick, right, agree? And Robbie raising it top thirty five streakout, it's not, it's not, it's I have I have no issue with. I have no issue with doing that. Now this person, obviously this keeper trade, Yes, the little he couldn't. He could have shopped around, but who knows if he gets better than this, I don't know. How are you doing in that league? To the bash bro No bash is the one day the trade though? Got Verlander? Yeah, interesting
hometown hellers in first home down. Hello, he's a Jaguars fan, right all right, shout and Jeff the Jets fans in third alright, So Greggy and all his boys right at the top. Let's get the Blue Jays bullet out of nowhere. Yesterday Ken Giles was placed on the I L where we're like, all right, who's gonna be the closer? I believe Frankie tweeted out Joe Bie and Jeannie probably the most likely candidate, not the only person tweeted out. Everybody
kind of assumed that's what would be. Daniel Hudson came on in the eighth inning last night, gets the last out clear uh in the fire storm here, I had to clear it out, does his job, then puts himself in the middle of the storm in the ninth inning, but then gets out of that as well. Daniel Hudson gets the first opportunity, Will he get the next opportunity?
I would lean that way as of right now. They brought Joe Bijanie in in the eighth ending with runners on first and second in an eight three game, and clearly not a save opportunity. They just you know, they're trying to close out the game, but they bring Joe big Yegini in. Uh, he does not perform well. Before we know it, it's eight six and it's a safe situation. So Daniel Hudson comes in in that eighth ending puts, puts the fire out and then also puts pitches. The
ninth allows one walk with three strikeouts. I would assume, I would assume Daniel Hudson gets the next save, Greg, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's like a committee, if it's him and Joe Biagini. For now, it sucks because Ken Giles was actually performing really well. You know, if you've listened to this podcast or show for years now, you've known I'm not really the biggest Ken Giles fan, but I mean this year he has been otherworldly. Fifteen case for nine, one point zero eight r a one
point zero four whip me Shrike, Greg. Ken Giles has been amazing eleven saves on the season as well. That kind of comes with the territory of being the closer for the Toronto Blue Jays because they don't win that many games. But this is a big loss for Ken Giles owners. So if you're if you lost him, you're gonna want to be aggressive on Daniel Hudson. I would say he is one A and no, it's he's one. He's one, he's not one A. And then and then and then job Jeanie's too. But we'll see what happens
the next couple of save opportunities. Yeah, you know we when we last talking about Ken Giles was in relation to Craig Kimbroll, right like where did Giles fall on that scale? And I believe we ultimately decided he was one spot after Kimberrell or or right out of the top ten I thought it was inside of the top twelve um, right outside the top ten um. And there's this one hurts because Giles has been really, really good.
I know in the past it's been very volatile Ken Giles, certainly in his years in Houston, but he's been really good this year for Toronto. Daniel Hudson I don't have much trusting Like who would you rather own, Sean Kelly or Daniel Hudson. I would take. We don't know how long Ken Giles is going to be out. Daniel Hudson may have the job for a day, he meant not get the next opportunity like when did Bigini last pitched? He pitched last, like, I have no idea he did.
He did. He was terrible. Yeah, he was the one night it was eight to three. He put them into that. He made the game eight six, and then Daniel Hudson came in and put out the fire. So I would probably still lean with Shaun Kelly because it's probably gonna be, like, we know, he's gonna get the same opportunities moving forward. For now, I still think that, you know, by the All Star break or maybe after the All Star break, Jose mc clurk is is the guy ends up being
the closer again. I mean, the Rangers have kind of hinted at that, but you're right there, we don't we don't know that Daniel Hudson is the guy. So just because we know Sean Kelly is the Rangers closer for now, I would lean him. But I don't really love either situation, I guess understandably understandably, so um Chuck Hilly definitely the guy that I would choose over Daniel Hudson. I used to love Danie Hudson as a start of Arizoner, Like I always thought he would be really good and then
he had. I guess it was Tommy John and has not been. He used to be a top prospect for the White Sox back in the day. Correct, and he started and he started with the White Sox's supposed to be started your prospect, he did. He was jacked by the White Sox and came over. That's very funny. You know who got traded for uh, Edwin Jackson. Jackson's funny one. Now that on the same team toge how about that? Ah Man. Yeah, So earlier on in his career, I thought he was gonna be really good for the White
Sox to so. Yeah, so he had to Tommy John surgeries, That's what it was. He went under one Tommy John in twelve. A year later he retour it and did it again, and that completely sapped him in my opinion. Yeah, but I mean he's actually performed well so far this year, um right around a strikeout for any eight point seven case per nine three point three zero e ar a. Uh. The walks have been an issue for him. His underlying numbers like x fips here and not good when when
it comes to UH to Daniel Hudson. That's why I thought Joebigini was going to get the job because over all his numbers and his underlying numbers were just better than Daniel Hudson. But you know the fact that he actually converted a save already, I think that's that's going to help his cause moving forward. So something to pay attention to. But if you lost Ken Giles, I would probably be fort to five percent of my fab on on Daniel Hudson, just to make sure I have what
I assumed to be the next man up. Let's see what happens over the weekend too. Yeah. Absolutely, I wouldn't think we wait and see. I don't I don't really want Dannie Hudson. I know he's been good this year. I wouldn't really want. But if you played in a fifteen team or Greg, I mean, there's not gonna be many. Like the speculative closers, they don't come around very often. So if you lost Ken Giles, you might not have
a choice but to be aggressive on Daniel Hudson. Let's um, we got five minutes ago, so let's be the best best forever. Cool? Yeah, let's go all right, see best best forever. Yesterday on the program, I gave out again starting five minutes from now, it was the Indians and the Reds. I had over nine and a half. They got stuck at nine. That's a loss for me. Uh. Frank also lost his two from yesterday. He liked the Phillies.
Zac Evlin was really really well. Um, and you also like San Diego Joey Lucas who also pitched well, but their defense let them down. Today we're gonna get back on the board, and for me, first one that stands out is the Dimebacks and Nationals. Dimebacks are a slight favorite, a much once two, but it's Grinky agains Eric Freddy, I'll think Greggy, Yeah that actually, Uh, that stuck out to me as well. I'm gonna go in a similar situation, a really good picture who's on the road. And we've
talked about this before. It seems like whenever we get a really good picture who's on the road, they are not as big of a favorite as they should be. So I'm looking at Matt Boyd and the Detroit Tigers going up against Homer Bailey in the Kansas City Chiefs, and Greg, you're getting the Detroit Tigers at a minus one two money line. So I like Matt Boyd and the Detroit Tigers to get it done today against the Kansas City Royals. Alright, I got here? Still you got here.
We've been all over this Tiger's Royals series because I mean both teams suck. Is that so that's why we're in on? Yeah, because I mean, like they can. The decision of these games could easily be swung. They're both not good teams. Spencer Turmboll either day, we talked about it. He was in a good spot to win, but I believe the bullpen blew would after we left. Oh this is really good. What do you got? I like the Rangers a lot tonight and plus two ten I was
looking at that. I just don't know that I trust Adrian Sampson on the road. I looked into his home road splits because he doesn't have a two star week next week, and I think a lot of people are gonna be in on Adrian Sampson for his two star week next week. Both of those starts are at home, So that's why when I looked at the home road splits actually had a bit on him. Last night, I
got slightly outbid, so I didn't get him. But tonight he's on the road in Fenway and he's got something like a like a low two z r A at home and an earrator on six on the road. Right, I'm just seeing like Sampson's pitch better as of late. Yeah, and two tens is too big and he's just too big a dog. I get what you're saying here with the with the value, Like if you're a red Sox standard and there's no you touch this game, I'm minus
two is way too big coat. I just think I just think this number is way, way, way too big. You can make you make a bit of a property here. Plus two ten. Yeah, I think people are just looking at Adrian Sampson and they're just not like fantasy owners and analysts alike. We didn't really know how good this guy was pitching until we looked it up over the weekend.
The last five stars, he's actually been pretty good. So I think the books are kind of reflecting that sentiment that they don't know how good that Adrian Sampson has pitched. So I would agree with you that there's value to be had at plus two ten, Greg, But overall, I I don't really have a good feel for Adrian Sampson and the Rangers tonight. Yeah, that's fair. I'm just taking the value. That's really what I'm looking at. Yeah, like you could sprinkle something on it, but it's not something
that I would put my normal unit amount. I agree, it's not my best bet forever. That's the Arizona Diamondbacks against the Gnats tonight. But my other bet that I like, I'm telling you right now plus to ten. That's great. Texas in Baltimore in Boston, excuse me. Adrian Sampson on the mound for the Texas Rangers tomorrow on the show, will be joined by Mike florial hopefully, Yeah, I gotta I gotta contact him and confirmed that, but I would
assume he's good to go. All right. We'll we joined by Mike florio Is to take a look at the weekend. Weaver's Adrian Samson, one of these two star pitchers you may want to consider bidding on. As Frank did, I will also take a look, Um, we'll take a look at everything that he needed over baseball for the weekend. I'll tell you right now, tell you right now. We're going to discuss the NBA Finals, like Game six is tonight.
You're probably gonna talk They're gonna be talking about there's game seven, there's a Game seven, or the Raptors have conquered their first championship in NBA history. We're gonna do it. So and we get Mike's thoughts too, because Mike I heart Knicks fan. He wanted Kevin Duran on the team as well. So well, we'll talk a little bit about it. Let's say we spend ten minutes out of the hour that we have Michael Florio on, is that fair? Greek?
I think ten minutes. I think that I think that's reasonable. But I want to get very clear. We're gonna do it. Get back last early first half of the first second. So all right, I want to thank everybody for all their help downstairs. I know it's been uh, you know, a little bit of trouble here today give the technical issues. But podcasts look good to goes. We appreciate you guys listening, and we've got tomorrow with Florida. Frank Staffel, I'm great exhaustment.
Thank you so much for listening to the best friends forever you're on the Fantasy Sports Radier Network. Will do all go tomorrow, We hope
