Listen Don Yeah now welcome app your hot fi gate from that spun fine god bro say Francis pr stand a ball, ladies and gentlemen, your BF and with that we welcome you inside studio. This is the BFFs. That is Frank Stamfell. I am Greg Susman. Fran guess A happy Monday to you, Greg, big weekend. You're Don Alvaret's time, Greggy Don Alvarez time. Anybody. My weekend was good and did eat well this weekend? You didn't eat well? Mhmm. We both normally don't eat well on the weekend. Not

that I normally eat well. I don't ever eat well. I just don't think my stomach was reacting as well as it used to like I used to just bounce back really easily, Like it loved eating chi Contenders and it loves eating cheese. It didn't love it this weekend. Well, you know what, Gregy, I joke about the age. But we're both getting up there a little bit. We are. We're getting to the point where we can't really respond and bounce back as well as we used to when

we used to just eat terrible things all the time. Yeah, you know, I my stomming. I have found ever since I started to eat like slightly healthier, it likes not more. I'm not even joking, like I feel want like some TV twelve Tom Brady diet, but like I feel just like when I eat like really gross stuff, I just feel like pretty bladed. I want to eat like healthier stuff. I don't, dude. I went to a bacon and beer festival on Saturday, so you could just imagine what my

day was, like, how was your stomach doing now? It's alright, alright, yeah it's not bad, But I mean Saturday was just a complete mess beer bacon obviously, went out to like a German bar afterwards, continue drinking, continue eating terribly. Went to a beach bar after that, Greg, it was just it was a lot of on. She was great, it was also a mess. I had a very adult thing to do, an engagement party on Saturday and Sunday. I feel like you always have engagement parties, no, or some

kind of parties. I don't like parties. Yeah, I don't like parties any great. Um yeah, these back to back days had some good tie on on Saturday night that was good Thai food. Yes, and I saw Rocket Man on Friday. As you know. How was that? Okay, Bob not greatly? Was it better than what was the better? Okay, Bohemian Rapsy was better? Personally? Yeah, I mean I don't

have much interest in either. And I'll probably watched Bohemian Rapsy at some point just because it was like nominated for so many different things, But outside of that, don't really have a ton of interest in either. Well, speaking of someone that certainly knows movies because he used to make them, let's talk about Moodico. What's up? Madimo? Helly? What's going on? Happy Monday to all? I'm and I actually eat whatever the hell I want and my stomach

take it whether it likes it or not. I love that approach at Live too, And if you follow matt On on Twitter at CTM Baseball, you'll see exactly what he's talking about, because we get some crazy pictures of chicken, parmer jan pizza, all these crazy kind of Italian foods. I honestly love it, Matt. I appreciate you. Thank you, Greg. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't like Rocket Man. I haven't seen it yet. I do want to see it.

I'm a big Elton John than from the nineteen seventies to like early eighties and then after that, you know, so in all, honestly, it's weird because right didn't like about Heman Rhapsody was that they didn't like the nitty gritty, the drugs, the sacks, the rocket roll right like. It was all kind of like p G. I fied, if you will, not that bothered me. But for this they there was the drug use, right like. There was like the down in the dumbes depressed Elton John, but there

wasn't enough like the rise. It was like, all of a sudden, it was Elton John, snap a finger. He's the number one artist in the world and making dollars. I was like, wait a minute, I didn't see any

of that. I also hated that none of the music was like even they didn't try to do it chronologically, like, oh, here was his mood when he wrote this song, here was the movie when he did the Tiny Dancer, when he did Rocket had they kind of just played him randomly and I was like, that doesn't make sense, and they didn't to justify the scene, and I'm like, but I want to know what was really happening when he was trying to when he met with that song, like

he's a really famous song, Like what is it about? I don't know. Did the Game of Thrones writers also make this movie? Greg, I think, to be totally honest with you, I think Benny Off was involved in this movie. I mean that that might explain why they just accelerated everything. I might have been seeing things, but I really felt and I was like, looking at the opening credits, I thought I saw Banion's name. To be totally totally honest,

fact his IMDb here yea it us was fact. Elton John was my favorite guest on The Muppets when I was a kid. Really yep, fun facts. Matt Modika here in on Monday R. I appreciate that. No, it doesn't seem like he's anywhere here, all right, So you maybe maybe there's but maybe there's another benny off. You know, we can we can marry the two together, Greg, there's other benny off. Maybe it wouldn't surprise me. Oh, you accelerate a bunch of stuff. You didn't explain anything. It

sounds like that's exactly how I felt, all right. Speaking of accelerating, you're Don Alvarez accelerating lineups because he's accelerated into the big leagues. He was called up on Sunday Homeward in his first game. You want to talk about palooza, Frank, I'm quite sure we had it yesterday. We didn't, Greg, It'll be next week really, because he has to play a game. He play a game. He has to play a game before he starts for him to be in the player pool. So he's not in the NNBC player

that's stupid. I assume he's added in a bunch of leagues where um, you don't need a minor league player to come up and play a game first. So he's already been stashed everywhere. And everyone's so excited about your Don Alvarez, and you're reminded everyone yesterday why we're all so excited about him. Just easy power. If you saw that home run his first major league hit, tweeted out yesterday.

Of course, he hits a home run in his first major league game, and someone tweeted back, well, doesn't actually count if it came off Dylan Bundy, Which is a fair question. But you've seen the pay it's it's it's very easy power. Hits it all the way out to like straightaway center field, maybe off to the left a little bit, but really easy power. And you look at what he did in the minor leagues this year, three twenty three homers, seventy one Ribbies, seventy one Ribbies and

only fifties six games o ps. So I know I don't have a lot of fab left. I know Matt Modiica doesn't have a lot of fab left. But if you were stashing you're Don Alvarez anywhere, you are obviously super super excited to get him into your lineups. Matt, how much do you think you're Don Alvarez is gonna go for next week? I gotta think around that level. You know, if you have money shaved up at this point,

this is what you saved it for. I really can't see someone else that hasn't either been draft did or called up already, you know, with with the fanfare and the ability that this man has, and as you said, it was on display yesterday. The one guy I think that could you know if he gets called up, but I don't know when that's gonna happen, would be Kyle Tucker Chris. He has his power, speed and average that he could hit four. But I'm getting less and less

optimistic on his. Uh. Call. But Alvarez, whatever you have, I would below the majority of it. I would save myself, you know, somebody to play around with over the next couple of months. Matt, there's someone in our main event league that has nine hundred nineteen dollars left. Do you think that's a great question, Greg, I'll look at it. I have to think that, you know, if I had nine dollars, I would see who the next highest was that I had been a dollar over that. Greg. This

person is in fourteenth place. Uh. He probably doesn't look at his team. Maybe not. Well, it would be great if he got alvage because you know it wouldn't affect us. Frank, how many points are you up these days? I am at I'm at one thirteen and a half second places one of seven and a half. So not that you know, I got my I got my Frankie Mantas in over the weekend, too great, So uh continuing to crush it man and I picked up Nick Favetta in this league if you remember. So, uh, A lot is going right.

I don't have a lot to complain about right now, and hopefully I get Aaron Judge and d Gordon back and continue to uh, continue to move up the leaderboards. Great, especially in the overall. That's That's what I'm focused on. Now. Where are you in the overall? Frankie? Last I checked, I was like fifty five out of like five seventy. I believe you have a top ten team right now, right I have? We were third for longest time were I think we're at fifth now with the with the

CAO and my solo team is around. Yeah, so right now I'm I'm I'm fifty fifth out of five seventy. Matt does have a fifth place team with Facaro and yeah, I don't. I don't see your other team here for now, but YEAHTM that would be twenty nine. So Matt's got to he's got one in the top five, he's got one in the top thirty, having having himself a season. Yeah, and it has been pretty good. The money is low now, so he got it the rest of the way. But in all honesty, usually when I get to July, I'm

pretty much in this predicament every year. That's the way I played. It's not for everyone, but I always hear that you know, you gotta have your money in order to win. That's fallacy as well. It's fallacy mat MAT's always the one that's aggressive early on. He wants to have the guy is for as long as possible and he wants to get him going. So, Madame Modica, let's get into the eyes that were available in the player pool yesterday and in the main event and really everywhere.

The one thing that I was most interested in was fran Er Valdez given his first star or his la most recent start, I should say for Houston. In the main event, he went for thirty five bucks. In our G S T League he went for a hundred and twenty seven dollars. Obviously the money is tight, But favor of Valden is what do you think about him going forward? Look out of the bullpen this year, he made some

nice advancements, especially in first pitched strike. I know a lot of people, you know, have problems with that, uh stat, And I'll say it's predictive. I think there's definitely a correlation. Though he improved that greatly. The swinging strike has gone up and the chase rate as well. Now, look it's out of the bullpen, so he does get buoyed by that. But if he if he keeps a rotation spot, then he's obviously an optimal player. You want, look what Wade

Miley has done this year. Uh so right now he has the spot. I think it's a great boy by Frank the thirty five dollars and if you got him, you're excited. He actually wasn't purchased by me, Matt Modriga. He he did go for He did go for thirty five bucks. Um, I had a small bid in on him. You know, I'm pretty much not bidding more than like fifteen dollars per player because I have like a hundred and twenty dollars left to last me the entire season. But yeah, I think for that price. He went for

thirty five dollars. In the main event, eighty eight dollars in the Great Fantasy Basic Invitational hundred and twenty seven out of a thousand in g S T. So, you know, I could have seen maybe somewhere in between that main event price of thirty five dollars and the Great Fantasy Baseball at eighty eight, But hundred and twenty seven to me is a little bit too steep. I understand that. You know, it seems like everything the Houston Astros touched has turns to gold. Wade Miley has been awesome so

far this year as well. And if you look at Frank Rivaldez, his numbers really really known for a steep ground ball rate throughout every level in the minor league, So I don't know that he's gonna get a ton of strikeouts. He did have seven strikeouts over seven seven endings pitched in his first start, but really really enticed by that ground ball rate. So, you know, even if it's only short term, if we get you know, a couple of starts, if he performs well, maybe he sleep

stays in the rotation for the Houston Astros. There's also a chance that this team is also in on like a Madison Bumgarner trade or a Marcus stroman trade, So pay attention to that. But even if it's only short term, I like, uh, I like a let's say, anywhere from a four to seven percent bid on fran Valdez something. Yeah, I like it too. Yeah, he was not the picture I was most interested in last night though. Who was that? Ller? Niche Keller? Why that? Why you interested in the pirate? Oh?

He's coming off the thirteen strikeout game in the minors. He's a guy that when he made his debut like a week or two ago. Uh, first five batters absolutely lit him up here. Think he r first six batters where he get like six runs in the first thing. After that, he struck out six of the next eleven batterers. He's faced. Look, he's on a he's on a team

that has a good homeballpark. He's got swinging missed to his game, and if you have realistic expectations, if he pitched to like a three eighty with a strikeout for anywhere more the rest of the see, you know, especially in this climate, that's fantastic. Yeah, he is a candidate to make a start this week as well. I saw his name mentioned as a potential starter on Wednesday, that's

Mitch Keller. And yeah, you mentioned what he did. You know, since he's gone down his last start out five innings pitched, one hit, three walks, thirteen strikeouts. The outing before that six innings, two earned on two walks, five strikeouts. I do personally have some concern when it comes to the walks. It seems like, you know, he struggled with whips so far in his minor league career. So that's why I

thought they were gonna be a little bit patient. But I don't think that the Pirates are in a predicament to be patient right now, Greg because the injuries to Jamison Tyne and and Trevor Williams, everything that's going on in that rotation. I think that they just need bodies. So that's why we might see Mitch Keller this week. The strikeout upside is legit, but I do have some concerns when it comes to the wall. Yeah, I think

it makes I think it makes sense. I think they gotta put him in the rotation and see what they have and and see if they can make a push for one of these wild card spots as we get towards the trade deadlon and ultimately see what the deal is with miss Keller and how good he can be. One more picture I want to tell about before we get to the break, and that's Adrian Samson, which like a pleat game over the weekend. Sampson playing for Texas. Not much notoriety there, but he's pitched well over his

over the last month, he's been good. Thirty two dollars in the main event, just three bucks in our gs T league. Frank Um Matt, what do you think about Adrian Sampson. I look, he made me take notice his last five appearance. The last two were starts, but his last five appearance he's pitched five innings in all those games, uh thirty strikeouts to three walks and pitched. So look, I'm looking at everybody. Everybody's an option for me this year. You know, as I mentioned, like pitching is just the

aceans have gone wrong. Nothing seems right anymore. So I would definitely be interested in him. Yeah, I think over the last five starts you do have to at least

take notice to what he's done. I mean I had to look him up over the weekend because admittedly, you know, don't have a lot of faith in pitchers when they pitched in Texas, but over that span, I mean at one point a last five starts at three point eight four x fips, so not even that is terrible, right around eight and a half case per nine the walks per nine or below one thirty strikeouts to three walks over his last five starts, So that's that's a pretty

good ratio here. When he does face Boston in Fenway this week, So I don't really love that start. You know, if Dad Martinez isn't in the lineup for Boston, I like it a little bit more, but overall, still don't love that start at Boston. So I would have, you know, added him a speculative ad here, Greg, but I wouldn't have thrown down too much. And I don't know that i'd have him in my starting line up this week either. Yeah.

You know, one of the choose our pictures from last week that we talked about that I like better was Animal Sanchez for this week, and I took a shot on him over Adrian Sampson. I like that call. I like that. Alright, take a break here, we'll come back with more and that Modica hold up next. Daily Roado dot Com learned for the game's best DFS players. We don't just give you advice. Continuing on your BF as Frank Stample, Greg Susman hanging out with you alongside Maddie mo mat Modica here on a Monday follow him at CCM Baseball on of course, read everything has to say on the athletic get to the two star pitchers that he liked the best cut a little bit later on in the program, but before we continue, I wanna ask him about another picture, Cold Pictures. Actually here he was talking about Mitch Keller, Favor Valadez and Adrian Sampson.

But one of the top names I keep seeing is Peter Lambert for the Rockies. Letty three bucks. He went four in the main event. I believe that was the second most other than the favor of Valdez. And I don't get it, man. I admittedly I have biased against the Rockies. I don't want to do it. It always ends terribly. Why are people so invested in this guy? Well, he came out and he had a great start at

Wrigley last week. I recommended not to start him this week because he is home versus the same Cubs, and he does get San Diego, which is kind of nice because you can get the strike acts with them, but very much better team. I think it was that initial stock that really turned people's heads. But I think you gotta have the long term view here. I think Matt's exactly right. Look at that first start what he did against the Cubs seven and he's pitched one er and run,

one walk, nine strikeouts. He looked really, really good. It's actually his secondary pitches that he's known for better than his fastball. But two starts this week, in course, he's gonna see the Cubs again, really really good line up, so it's the second time that they're gonna be able to see him and then the padres and you look at what he's done his his two stops at Triple A so far this year. In Triple A. Understand it's

the PCL. Everybody is mashing this year, but a five point zero seven e r A at one point three one whip last year in the PCL in Triple A a five point zero four e r A and eleven starts with a one point five seven whips, So there's not much of a track record here, Greg, I think people were sucked in a little bit by that first start. Uh and and they see the two starts on the schedule. But I worry man, especially against the Cubs and corps Field. Uh. You know, maybe a spec add in a deeper league.

But I don't think that I would have him in my line up this week. Like I said, I wasn't investing in him. I'm not doing the Colorado thing. I don't think it's worth it. And there's plenty of other guys out there to take a shot on Adrian Sampson being one of them, whether I'm starting in this week or not. I I get too nervous. I said, why didn't I didn't have harmon Marquez. You know me, I drove Kyle Freeland. I didn't do it. I don't. I

don't have any shares of those pictures either. And you know, Marquez still has been great at times on the road, but it's you know, you have to invest in Marquez as a what to start time, and he's a guy that you just really don't feel good about half of his starts when they come in course field. So I can't really have any uh, I can't really have any issue with with saying that great because look at where's Kyle Freeland right now too? He's in the minor leagues.

John Gray is is being John Gray's. That's that's kind of the territory that that it comes with when it comes to a rocky starting pictures. Last picture, I really want to mention for you guys here this is for real this time. It's guy Frank Merrill Kelly, who I feel like he's one of these guys this year that he's gonna be on everyone's team exactly. He's on everybody's team at different times. It's up and down, and up

and down and up and down. He went this week in the main event, he was available, he went for Matt Do you have any confidence Merrill Kelly. Here's you think with Merrill Kelly. I started him on the road at Toronto this weekend and he rewarded me for that. I look, I always talk at Toronto. Uh, they pretty much the all season been in the bottom five and striking a percentage and slugging as a team, though the offense is getting better. The thing with Kelly is it's

extreme the home away splits. Uh, you know, night and day. He's pitched really well at home and got awful for the most part on the road. That does that doesn't add up well this week either because he's at Philadelphia, so just not a good spot to pitching obviously in Citizens Bank Park, and you just heard the splits numbers. When it comes to Merrill Kelly, I think people were looking at his last two starts, Greg, and they were both great starts. He went at least seven ending's pitched

in both of those games. You know, one one of them he had ten strikeout, zero walks. But it was against the Mets. The Mets lineup that's you know, has like Carlos Gomez in it, that had like Aaron Altar in their line up last week and then they sent him down and then Toronto where he pits well seven and he's one and run but only three strikeouts against the team that strikes out a lot and two walks. So I think Merrill Kelly is a guy that you

could stream in the right spot. I remember it was like a month ago where you know, he's been really inconsistent. I streamed him in a start against the Giants and it actually worked out well. So I think you just really gotta be smart about where you pick and choose your spots when it comes to Merrill Kelly. This week at Philadelphia, I can't recommend starting him there. Fair enough

in Philadelphias has like a disaster for Merrill Kelly. But in the right matchup, in the right location, that's when you go and put Kelly in your lineup. Let's get over there. Some of the top hitters that were picked up here this week, and I'll stick with the main event guys. And thirty three dollars was spent on who's a Parazza of the Cincinnati Reds. Why are people spending money on Braza mat Look at the hope that he gets a you know, spot, maybe an injury the stolen

base upside here. Uh, Scooters should be coming back soon. You've got Detrick hitting all these home runs. I don't know where everything fits anymore. I fear for Waker, you know, unless he gets going. You know, he started off hot but has been cooled off quite considerably of late. So there's a lot of mounts defeat in Cincinnati. But I got it as a pure, you know, stolen based speculation. If an opportunity arose for him and maybe he can

capture that again. I think part of the issue for Jose Peraza this year he's got a two fourteen batting average. This is an example where launch angle improvement is actually not recommended because Jose parraz is a guy who doesn't hit the ball hard. Is fly ball rate this year is up it's at last year was thirty percent. This year it's so he's hitting the ball in the air more, but it just doesn't work for him. He's a thirty

percent hard hit rate a season for his career. This is the guy that should be trying to hit line drives, hit the ball on the ground. His bab IF this year is twenty nine, So you might look at it and say he's been unlucky. But part of that is by his own doing. He's trying to lift the ball more and he's not a guy that should be doing that. He's gotta hit line drives, he's gotta hit the ball on the ground. And I think what Matt said is

exactly right. Scooter Jeannett's coming back. They have Derek Dietrich, they have Jesse Winker, they have and they're trying to find ways to get was a prosit in the lineup Greg, but it's just crowded up in the middle endfield, in the outfield. They also have Nick Senzels, so there's a

lot of names here. I understand trying to like catch lightning in a bottle, maybe get some stolen basis here last year at twenty three, and that's something that we've kind of always hoped for when it comes to Prazza one or top prospect, But it just seems like it

might be one of those lost seasons. There's still a lot left for him, but given the fact that it's as crowded as it is and he just hasn't performed well, I don't have a lot of faith in j Yeah, we're getting to that point where I'm not having the faith either that I'm not We're not playing a batt it leage where it's gonna turn down, And we would joke about that with John Gray all the time, and I'm not, I'm not investing. I was for us. I I drafted him in a pit league. I got rid

of water Escobar. I worked out all right, very nice movie Warro Escort. Man, he's he's been one of the on some heroes your Fantasy baseball so far this here, we didn't really know what to make of EDWARDO Escobar coming into the year. It seems like he was this journeyman kind of broke out a little bit last year with the Twins, hits a lot of doubles. But man, he is putting it all together. He's been one of the most phenomenal values in fantasy baseball. The Sea absolutely boring,

that's the problem. You're right, You're right, your boring player. But he puts up the stats and this is gonna be a third straight season. So yeah, if he if he ends it like to ninety with close to thirty home runs, Matt and really good counting stats for where you were getting him, that's a phenomenal season. You don't even have to do that, true. Do you look at the guy the other players that went here phrase anyone that he wanted to highlight before we move on the

two star pitchers. Is none of these guys really exciting anyway? Uh, well, that's because you are a delneu De Shields hater for whatever reason. Greg. But since he's been called back up, he's eleven, has a few stolen bases as well. It seems like Willie Calhoun is getting close. We don't really know exactly when Joey gallow is gonna be back, maybe closer to the All Star breaks. So I think a lot of people in deeper leagues, star five outfielders, everyone's

trying to find stolen bases. I've always had faith in de Line of the Shields as a guy who at least someone who is known for his speed. He walks a lot, and he's always had pretty good plate discipline, not like the Billy Hamilton's of the world and and d Gordon's, where you know they're they're more so free swingers and you try and just put the ball in play and get on base. He actually walks a decent amount, so I understand wanted to take a shot there and

and grab some stolen basses. Uh. Jacoby Jones too. It seems like there's always a stretch out of season where you pick up Jacoby Jones and he's playing well, and right now is one of those stretches. Matt, did you have any bids on Jacoby Jones, de line up to Shields or or any other hitters here? I know you ended up grabbing Column Moran in the main EVI I mean, look, the Shields was the guy that I would have taken. I'm not really super high, like you said, He's had

a good week. He's been in consistent, you know, pretty much his whole career. But the Shields was the one guy out of this group where you can get steals. And I would say Gallo comes back maybe like post all star break. I mean maybe if it's sooner, great, But if you own him like I do, I'm expecting postal star break, you don't want to rush back from that anyway. It's usually a long term thing. So yeah, I mean the Shields Moran, he's facing I think a bunch of writings this week too. So I liked him

and in thirteen bucks, why not? Yeah, Colum Moran. I think in deeper leaves if you needed a corner infielder or utility back. Greg seven games this week for Pittsburgh. All of them come against right handed pitching, so you don't have to worry about him sitting out there. So I like Colum Moran as well. I was actually the backup bid to Matt Moodique. It was only thirteen bucks. I had the backup b what went over twelve? No, No that he won him at third team I had.

I was back up big at three dollars. Greg. I mean, this is the bottom of the barrel. This is bargain hunting now. And you know, I'll let you know that I ended up winning Derek Fisher for three bucks and Chessler Cuthbert as my corner. And you asked me that two dollars. I need a corner infielder and I'm not

spending money. And you know, he's actually performed well some of the some of the stat CAD data that I looked at, so uh, you know, I'm just you know, we talked about trying to win it week week, one week at a time, right, So I'm trying to find trying to find a corner infielder here, I end up end up with Chessler Cuthbert. I picked up Ian Kennedyada for twelve bucks. I mean he's the closer for the Royals. They don't win a lot of games, but who knows

if he'll be there come come to trade deadline. You know people, someone actually dropped Jose Laclerk and Diego Castile in our main event last night, So I'm gonna be interested in you know what those guys go for next week, because I had Steve Tchick as my third closure, so you're always kind of trying to find that maybe second or third closed or on your team. I also have Jordan Hicks, I have Herbert as soon as so trying to find that third closure. I picked up Ian Kennedy.

But uh, I'll be in on the bidding in the for for the clerk next week because it seems like should be hopefully sooner rather than later he gets the closer's job back. You know that. I think they let him pitch to ninth on Friday. He gives up a two run homer, of course, because why he didn't blow us a but pitch to ninth and and did not perform well. So Uh, those are those are a few relievers that I'm looking at. Brandon Workman was picked up

in my great fantasy based momentational ten dollars. Uh. If you can figure out who the Red Sox closure is right now, Greg, I'll give you a prize. No imagine is gonna come back to bite them at some point, right Red Sox. I mean it already has plenty of times so far this year. I mean Ryan Brazier start off the year, we thought he was the closer. He blew a bunch of games. He's not being used in high leveage situations anymore. It's been a combination of Workman, Walden. Uh.

Matt Barnes has been worked in there as well. And we just saw Craig Kimberell's sign with the with the Chicago Cubs. So there are a few names out there that maybe they get in on in the trademark it. I've heard like Ken Giles name thrown thrown out there, Alex colum A. But it seems like, for whatever reason,

the Red Sox are are just not being aggressive. I don't know if it's just because they won the World Series last year and they were trying to get into the luxury tax and just kind of like taking a back seat. I would imagine at some point the Red Sox have to be the Red Sox and make a move, but as of right now they seem kind of content going with this committee approach. Yeah, there does not seem to be then insight you trying to figure out who that Red Sox closer is. It's a feel I guess

from Alex Cora. Why don't you curse out Alexe core like you do gave Kapitler Because I don't have any shares of the Red Sox guys, so I think that's probably why I have. I have a few Hector Nerras shares, and Hector. The thing is, Hector Nerras has performed so well, so I'm really happy to see that. Gabe Kapitler was listening to me earlier on in the season when I started ranting, yelling at him. But look at that, Greg, he goes to Hector Nerras as his closer. He's performing well.

So another point for Frank. We had a whole bunch of teams with seven games this week, including the d Backs, the Braves, the Red Sox, the of these, the Rockies. The player at the Cardinals, Rays, and the Rangers. Only five teams that have five games, that's the Giants, Brewers, Astro's, Indians, and Reds. I'll throw Kyle Swarber out there as a twelve team added added him in one of my home

league's twelve team points leade. They played seven games. He's been actually performing well as the leadoff man for the Cubs, and three of those games in Coors Field. If you want cheap exposure, David Bowte might be available in your deep booty as well. So if you want some exposure to seven games and some corpse field, uh, I do like some of the Cubs players, Matt. Was there anyone, uh that you that you were trying to add in twelve team leagues? How about any Coss Warber ads? I

did not get Schwarber. I'm totally with you. Uh in a weekly league, even though there's lefties later on in the week, verst the Dodgers and it's uh, you know, he's got real uh kerk Shaw and Hill. I would roll them out just for those coorse games. Uh. Like you said, he's hitting much better right now, and him and course field teams like the perfect combination. Alright, So

so so there you go. There. Um, I'm looking at these teams that have five games, guys, is there anybody that's worth Benjamingza probably is a guy, you know, Yeah, you know, honestually throw out the flavor of the week last week? Who I actually picked up Miles Straw that seems like the playing time might be hard to come by and he plays five games this week. Sir, Absolutely, he's a he's on my bench in the main event. Yeah, Christian, you're probably gonna bench him. You have five games against

You can't. It can't start down. What are we doing? What are you doing here? What are we doing? What are we doing? You know? I I just picked up Derek Fisher in a deeper league, but it seems like for the time being, his playing time is pretty safe and he's been leading off, so I need some runs scored in the main event. That's what I was looking at.

So it's five games. I think in a twelve team or you might be able to get away from Derek Fisher, But in deeper leagues still is leading off for the Astros, and I think that's a that's a profitable position to be in. Definitely, Mike Chef's the guy with the Giants five games this week, probably when your bench probably TV yas man, how is his week this week? I don't know. I don't have any shares that was his week, Matt. I have no idea, right, none of us. Yeah, that's fair.

His grandfather was very good player. He's grand of father. Yeah, very good player. All right, Yeah, great. I think there's a good time to to just give a shout out to uh David Ortiz and Big Poppy. You know, I don't think that he's listening, obviously, I don't think his family is listening. But obviously what happened last night was crazy. It's tragic, you know, it just goes beyond any like rivalry anything. We're all Yankees fans here, but I love

Big Poppy, love David Ortizo. Wishing him and his family all the best. Yeah, I was really sad, man, it was crazy just to hear, like, what's going on? If you haven't heard, he was in the Dominican Republic and he was he was shot in the back and apparently left through his abdomen. But he seems to be in uh okay condition as of right now. So shout out to Big Poppy. Hope everything's all right, Michael Schevski not doing much, not doing much, just singles a lot of singles.

I mean great, He's a twenty eight year old journeyman in the minor leagues, so a lot of outside of his name being Yestremski. I don't know that there's much like there's Mike. That's cool. You know, while we're talking about a quasi Red Sox, I guess a little bit here, Greg, Okay, what's this transition? J D. Martinez? If he's on your team, are you starting him this rate? That's actually really because

he's dealing with the back injury. You know, he hasn't been placed on the I L. He's quote day to day, but he didn't play at all over the weekend. The Red Sox got swept by the by the Rays, Right he did. I don't know. I don't know who to root for in that scenario, Right, we should be rooted for the rais Right, Okay, I agree with you. Let's go raise. What do you do with J D. Martinez? Greg? I think I leave him on the bench. I leave

him on the bench. He may go on the I L, he might not go on the I R I R L. I'm confused. It's he may go on l he may not. To me, it sounds like a disaster. I'm not starring David Tarrantees, I'm not starring J. D. Martinez this week, Matt, What do you think I will not be starting him neither? I think yeah. I think it's looking more and more apparent that he does spend time on the I L I think it's a smart move for the Red Sox to make so in weekly leagues. Now he's on my

you know, he's on my bench. Yeah, I agree with that. Obviously, if you play in the NFBC format, you could set your lineup for hitters on both Monday and Friday. So I think for this early part of the week. It sucks too, because the Red Sox have seven games this week and they're about to face Texas Rangers pitching. So I would have liked to get J. D. Mart martinezn't there, But especially if you play in the NFBC or somewhere

where you can set your lineups two times per week. Greig, for the hitters, I think, at least for the early part of the week, you gotta have J. D. Martinez out of the lineup. We'll take the break here will come back. We're over to start pitchers with Maddie Mo as well as hit our our best. That's forever I'm gonna come twenty minutes ago. You have have to rolled on. This is very relevant? Actually is I

watched the Undertaker versus Goldberg match. I didn't watch when I got home. Not awful, dude, what are we doing? So I got home? It might have been like those off for a bit, like whose idea? Like is eventually in the back saying Undertaker versus Goldberg two guys that are like is an Undertaking near sixty over sixty, goldbergs over fifty years old? Just a mess of a match,

O deca. I would assume you were not watching Undertaker versus Goldberg on Friday takers fIF you four Goldberg is because you know what after the match Undertaken what pissed dude? He was? He was piste? It was bad? Oh god? Just is it? I mean, I don't know. I've pretty much fallen off the map when it comes to watching w W programming, Greg. I still watched n x T Takeovers, and I'll watch like a W double or double or nothing.

I like, you know, big indie shows and stuff for wrestling, But I mean the product that w W is putting out right now, it's just that was so much talent and instead of using their younger guys, they're they're putting Goldberg and undertaken. I mentioned earlier Animal Sanchez facing Arizona and tonight facing the White Sox. It's crazy. When I looked at the White Sox, I wanted to know because Julie has been so good or now the Lopez pitch, well, yesterday I guess it was, and I'm like, hey,

the way it sounds good. Wanted to know whether their record was, I know, like the middle of the pack in the central, Like what was the record? I found out actually about better record than the Indians, right, two games under No, they don't. They're close to it. There are two games under five hundred. The Indians are one game over five hundreds, so they're they're close for sure. But I checked on Thursday or Friday they were actually tied.

Oh so the White Sox one tune a ROUNDU Julia Ronaldo Lopez one of the teams that Animal Sante's faces. In fact, that game East tonight. I'll start there, Matt, what do you think about the White Sox going forward, and what do you think about Animal Sanchez this week? Uh? Well, I mean the White Sox going forward, their draft picks. Seems like he's gonna be ready pretty soon and could you know, be a very good impact bat for them Andrew Vaughan. But for this season, it's gonna be interesting

to see where they go. I gotta think they sell off some pieces that aren't uh you know, you know, essential to their growth. Or does the White Sox, you know, after getting burned by Manny make a move to try and be a player and you know, be in this race at some point. I doubt that. But as you said, they played much better than expected. They've got a nice

core here. Geelito's ascension has been fantastic to watch. I remember throwing his name in late on one of the episodes here as a guy to to get and look, He's seven stars have been phenomenal. Yeah, absolutely, really really excited for Lucas Gelto. If only evern all the Lopez can you know, take a little bit of a page

out of his book. He's just been so inconsistent, Like Ronaldo has games where you watch him and and it seems like, all right, he's got some he's got some legit stuff, and you can get excited about him, and then there's just other starts where it's like two and two thirds eight or and runs just completely gets bombed. So he's gotta like find some middle ground, he's gotta develop some kind of consistency. But really really excited about

what Lucas Gilto is doing this hee. I agree with Matt anyone that's not really essential to this team moving forward up, Like I wouldn't put Jose break you in that make because I think they still need one veteran around to kind of, uh to be like a role model for these young players, especially for like Eloy Jimenez. I think that makes a lot of sense. And for anyone who was freaking out about Eloy Amenez, he's starting to come around as well as seventy ft home run,

there's an absolute moon rocket. So excited about the White Sox moving forward. I don't know that it's gonna be h It's not gonna be this year, Greg, but they still have Dylan ceasing the minor leagues and he's coming soon, and uh excited about him. Excited about their pitching staff for the future. As for Annibal Sanchez, before we do that, the good news is for the White Sox that they

have some money. Remember, they wanted to spend. They were in the mix, so he thought on the name Machado on um Bryce Harper maybe, so they were in the mixing little bit there. You have money to spend, and White Sox are not that dissimilar from the Padres either. No, I have a really young team to have a good farm system like I think Machado would have been in there as well. But I can't really blame someone for

wanting to be in San Diego. The only reason I think they could get rid of a brave use that contract that he's by far, I think making the most money on that team. Nobody else really makes anything. I don't believe, so the real in the ground note, I think they can make a couple of free agent editions and we'll see the White Sox certainly hand in the

right direction. Yes they are. But you wanted to know about about animals going up against the White Sox and the Diamond Bags two pretty good matchups on paper here, the White Sox our team that strikes out a decent amount and the Diamondbacks you know, their offense has been They've been actually better than I thought they were gonna be this year, but they're actually slowing down a little

bit recently. So Animal Santis has actually performed well his past two starts and is coming off the I l six endings, pitched, one hit, one walks, seven k's against the Braves and his last time out was against the White Sox five and the third four hits, one and run, one walks, seven strikeouts. So, uh, I wasn't really on him during draft season. He was someone who like randomly broke out last year, but I picked him up in a few locations and I actually like the matchups a lot.

What do you think that? Yeah, no, I think for this week he stands out as one of the outside of the obvious, you know, to start guys that are automatics. He is a guy that stands out, a guy can share two weeks ago, picked up another one last week. Uh, you know, there really was an opportunity this week that ship i'd sailed, So if you got him, you know, the last two starts have been good. I expected starts here and uh, you know he's a guy that you know,

this is I'm the same as Frank. He was intentionally kind of avoided him, but it's coming back. He's been good, and you know, you gotta put these matchups. Speaking of these matchups, Matt, there there was a duo, a tandem of teammates that I wanted to ask you about personally because I have a few shares of them. That's Jose Guantana and you Darvish. Morose Gantana has been really consistent this year. He's someone that I was targeting a lot um.

It seems like he was priced for profit throughout draft season. And then you Darvish has actually showing some signs as past you know, six seven starts, uh the cutter usages up and it seems like that's actually helped him a decent amount. But two starts for both of these guys, they're both on the road at Colorado and at the Dodgers. As of right now, in my fifteen team leagues, I have Jose Kantana in the lineup. In my twelve team leagues,

I've been able to go in a different direction. And speaking of those twelve team leagues, actually have Animal Sanchis starting over you Darvish right now in one of those leagues, Matt, If you own these guys, what are you doing with them? I agree with everything you just said there. Uh, Sanchez would be the preferable start. Cantana's pitched really well, he really has, uh you, Darvish is a must bench for me this week. There's no way he has pitched better.

No way, I'm touching him with cores. And he's pitched for the Dodgers before. He's had his problems there as well. I think you gotta totally avoid him in twelve teams. You know, you probably have a better option than Kntana where you can go a different route fifteen, it's kind of tough. I take my chances on him, if you know, if I had to and one league, I believe I am. But yeah, that's how I would. I would roll with

those three. No, we actually have a decision to make Craig because we have Jose Kantana in the lineup right now. It's a team league. You know, we actually thought our pitching was a weakness heading into the season for this league, but it's actually turned out to be pretty pretty damn good. Yes, we got some guys on the bench here, so mad I'll just throw this your way, other people might have

the same issue. We have Jose Kantana in the lineup, But would you rather start Pablo Lopez at home against the Pirates, Zach Eflyn at home against the Diamondbacks, or Nick Pavetta coming off that complete game at the Braves. Would you start either of those three pitchers over a guy like Katana because he has the tough matchups. I I would go that route this week unless I really

just needed to, you know, build some stats. But if it one inning can go really wrong at Corps and just you know, destroy hope of even that second start, which is against the Dodgers, and he's just LeftyA til I helped him. But I would go with those other three names. I like the matchups they have their Pavetta's pitched really well coming there, Lopez seems have figured it out, and he's home, which is a much better picture at home as well. Yeah, so I think we'll end up

benching him Grady after the show. We'll have to figure out who we're getting in there. But those are an example of three names that if you play in the twelve team league and you have one of those single starters on your bench, might want to put those guys in your lineup over a guy like Katana or Darvish, Matt, we're gonna have to leave. But is there anybody else that any of these two star pitchers that you really really like or really really don't before we let you go.

They're real quick. This one guy to pop down doing this this week. It's a guy I wasn't armed coming into the season, hasn't really picked that great. Mike Fulton evits last fourth starts strike outs to one walk. You guys, a lot of seven homers. That's been the bugaboo for him. But I think you're rolling at this week. All right, there you go. Mike Folton pirates and the Phillies both starts at home. Mike Fulton evits the guy that you gotta put in there to Maddie Mo Matt. We appreciate

the time. Read him at the Athletic, follow him at CCM Baseball. That'll do again next week. You got guys, awesome, We appreciate it. Okay, with that, we're gonna start off YouTube for today. We appreciate you watch joining the show, listening on the podcast. Obviously, we'll go about another five or so minutes. We'll continue on and come up next. On the video side, it's out the window with Sean Guastamkia Frank. That means the time for our best bets forever.

Here feeling man, Um, I'm feeling all right. I'm feeling it right. I believe you. You got it right on Friday again? Right? Is that great? Do you have? What do you have on Friday? We have to go back to the tape. I don't even remember. But um, you know a lot of people might be looking at the Yankees met tonight Subway series. I don't even know if that game is gonna get in because we're supposed to get rained too, so um, we'll have to pay attention

to see what's going on. That was one. I'm actually I'm going back to the well exactly what I did last week. Joe Musgrove on six. I understand, he's on the road. It's at Atlanta. Kevin Gausman sucks, he sucks, He's not good. I'm pretty sure it was the same exact matchup last week, and Joe Musgrove performed very well and they ended up winning a game. I'm going back to the well. I'm going back to the well with

the Pittsburgh Pirates money line plus one six against Kevin Galman. Actually, I wrote down on picks last week so I can go back see if I could do this. By the way, I think for me, the must grow things is a no brainer most things, No Brander, that was the one that stood out to me as well. That's my favorite pick. On Friday. I had over in the Twins and Indians and that six three, it was nine. What was the over under? It was all right, wait, Twins and planned Yeah,

it was Twins Tigers that Twins Tigers? Or who the Indians were? The Yankees the Indians, and I'm sure it was probably did not do Indians Yankees? Who the Yankees? Something? Herman did not? You didn't take that game to the other one, Tigers. I potentially brought up the Indians and Yankees game. You're like that, and they didn't. Boy, I didn't do that either, I think I did. I think it was the Yankees. Man, Alright, I got that one wrong.

I believe I had the Rockies in the it's over seven and a half, and of course the game end five to one. I have the Padres as well over the Gnats. I got that one right. I got that one right adres over the Nats. There, you've been pretty hot, right, you can keep We're both on Joe must Grove tonight, which means he's bound to get rocked, all right, Rod on Joe must Grove, that's the pick for tonight. I also, if it gets in. I had the Mets tonight. I

like the Mets tonight. You like the Mets tonight plus one that sixty six with Jason Vargus. Personally, I wouldn't be able to do it because my fandom. But if you have no ties to the Yankees or Mets, I don't think that's crazy. Yeah, I like the Mets tonight. I think it's crazy. Have been terrible against lefties, too awful against left actually pitching relatively well, you know, time

traveling from the eighteenth century or whatever it was. But he's pitching well, and the Yankees have not performed well against left handed pitchings. Yeah, it's if the game gets in tonight, which is crazy because they're all right handed. Even though he's back. We're texting yesterday speaking of d D. That error was awful. That was brutal. Mean, I think it was just one of those like shake off the rust, welcome back to the team, but it just seems like he took his eye off of it and he just

whipped you just there. So it was so interesting. I think it was the inning before there was a hard hit ball to short and Glabor was still playing short and he got down on the knee and like really made sure he had it. And for the second it was I was wow it was played by the Glabor because it was a really hard, hard hit. Next hitting same thing and he totally boots it. What do you

feel about the relief pitch? You're getting a blown save but being eligible for a win, because I saw people chatting about it on Twitter yesterday how it's the most egregious thing in baseball. It was egregious new baseball. I mean, there's a lot of that seems ridiculous. I guess like it's it's a statistical forest though, Like you shouldn't get a win for blowing a save. Obviously, No, you shouldn't a picture of record, right, like you're the last picture

in there. They gotta win. On what I was, you did enough, you blew the save, but you needn't lose the game, especially even for Nanda. Rodney has a lot of those wins in his career, especially in the case of over all the Chapman who like he got out of him man, like he got what he needed. Yeah, that one like typically if you give up a home run or something like, you don't deserve it. Like Chapman actually didn't deserve the blown saved yesterday. It wasn't his

fault obviously because of an error. I didn't want to mention a few of these other two starters. Martine Perez has not pitched well recently when he's home versus Seattle and versus Kansas City. There well, Seattle has emotion home runs a month the gym, they're uh, dude everyday. Garnasia just continues to get it done home runs are ready, continues to get it done. Kill the parrot baby, are you are you? Are you right? Starting? Martine president cool

with them. Just let you know the marriage is the most home runs. Yeah. The Royals have not been good against this year. There twenty eight and woble against left handed pitching, while the Mariners are so a little bit better against left handed pitching. Here, I'm with you. I think where I own mar team for residm still getting him in the line. I just watched before Um Rude and Odor still home yesterday. Do you feel like there's more steels of a home this year than we've seen

it a long time? Has there been? It just feels like it has. I feel like the time three or four, there's like a lot Jolean June. I like it. I like regressive approach. I love it. I mean, if you were watching it, it's there's a lefty on the mountain. As soon as he turns to look at first base route net Odor just takes off and he's a guy

who like really needs it. I mean he needs anything he could possibly get right now, from a from a baseball perspective, from a statistical perspective, because it's been a really really rough year for Rudinet Odor. But yeah, I thought it was an awesome play. Yeah, we really find out how many we've had this year. I was Andres did it? Odor? Did it? Um Laura score Hell did it? There's three that go in to my immediately. Yeah, I think there was. Yeah, so I can't I can't really

find him. I love it, don I'd rather see it more. I understand it's like super hard to pull off, and you can really only do it against the left handed picture. I guess right, but like with Odor, the left news all the manages staring at first Nace for an hour. But it was it was interesting though, because like he's looking at the signs from the catcher, and you saw as soon as he looked away from the catcher looked at the first basement, Odor just took off like that

was a sign in his head. He's like he looks the first I'm gone, I'm breaking working one day. Met Modica for joining us. Coming up next, as we said on the video side shown Guastamakia or at the window, Venture will join him as well. Franky Staffe, I'm Grex Susman. Thanks to everybody downstairs, think to everybody that watch, have a wonderful rest of your day and we'll do it all over tomorrow. We hope I couldn't catch the live show.
