You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Networks. Dodd. Yeah, right now, welcome you bag your hot Fie by Broun Fine Died from St. Francis, Frank stand Ball ladies and gentle in York ps. And with that we welcome you inside Studio thirty four. This is the BFFs alongside Frank Standfle. I am Greg sum Frank. That's come on. How's it going here? Happy Tuesday to your bud. A lot going on in all sports, really basketball, crazy night last night, A lot to talk about fantasy baseball as well. Before
all that, I'd sleep, Buddy, I slept well. I was late. I was very tired. During the fourth quarter last night, I was I was, I was fading, but I pushed through it made the end of the game, and then it sleeps up. Well, I don't snooze, as you know, I don't presus snooze button. I'm up with the first alarm, but laidhi bed a little bit longer than normal today. I'm happy for you, buddy. I stayed up late because I wanted to watch all these press conferences and stuff.
Bob Meyer's come into the podium. Once I hear Bob Bob Meyers comes to put it, I'm like, well, first off, gms don't normally talk after playoff games, so this is gonna be pretty crazy. So I had to stay up and watch it, which I did. I couldn't. I couldn't do that. I was I was way to die yesterday. What do you think about everything that's going on? Typical for the friend next to be Honestly, that's when my first thoughts go, really yeah, I'm like, oh, I feel
bad for the rent. No, I feel bad. The next there's a joke every time he wasn't gonna come anyway, it'd just be happy that you didn't get set up for disaster. No, they are. They're still gonna sign him. No they're not. Yeah, they are from his perspective, Why wouldn't he opt into next year? One year thirty one mills, sit out, make your money, and then next year you sign another. So I will tell you the answer that question. I'll tell you the answer that question. What what's that
he doesn't trust the Warriors anymore? Isn't trust the Warriors medical staff anymore? I thought about that as well. But I also thought that everything that they said and did last night was calculated, like Bob Meyer's going to the podium and doing this whole sob story. Somebody get this guy an oscar, you know, m hm. I felt that was that was all like pandering to long term wanting Katie to be there. When Clay Thompson was talking, he was saying, you know, obviously Durant's the best player in
the world, something like that. They never admitted before before this game. Greg. The report that we had the other day was the Warriors believe that Kevin Durant can play, and then once he plays and goes down and tears his achilles, everyone loves the guy now. Really, I mean, all everything that they're doing right now is calculated because they want him to come back. I don't I don't agree with that I think. I think that Bob Myers
LEGI really felt bad. And I don't know if that was he felt bad because the Warriors pressured him to play. He felt bad because Kevin Durant pushed himself to play. But I don't want to say it was an Academy Award style. I mean, this dude was emotional for real. I I really don't believe. I'm sure there was some raw emotion, but like the whole sniffling, like he didn't shed a single tear. Yes he didn't. He didn't, I mean I think he did. Sure he was sad, Yeah,
he's sounded pretty sad man. Well, I mean it's just a terrible job all around. Like if you're if you're climb and watching why that game? Is it a terrible job all around? I don't think that's fair because you let your client play that game. Is he wants to win a championship? Is none of this is all about two days ago we killed what about getting paid for what about getting your max contract? Two days ago we killed him for not pushing through. Clay Thompson play is
playing an eighty percent on his Hamstreet. But we held him. We never doubted that he was actually injured. We doubted that. Why he couldn't just push the play, he couldn't just show up well, for this exact reason, we knew that it was more than likely that he was going to reinjure himself if he played on this, and we heard dr Ay talk about it. We didn't care. We didn't care. We wanted to see that. That's that's what his agent is supposed to care about. That's what the organization is
supposed to care about. You don't know, No, certainly not long term of the organization. The organizations try to win a championship. Yeah, but at the he may not be back in this organization. They don't care it. But but at the expense of yes, a superstar player, yes, and try to win a championship. I don't know. It's me up agreed. They won championships without it. And for all you know, we have no idea. Rich Kleinman may have said,
It's true, we have no idea. You should sit out, and Durant may say, f that I want to play, knowing the risk. Now, Steve Kerr has said that he was told that Durant was not at risk of re injuring himself. That it was pain tolerance, and he said the decision to play was left up to I mean, everything from every sports doctor last night was like, this was obviously gonna happen if you took one wrong step,
and that's exactly what he did. And if you if you watch the replay, it's actually one of the most gross things that I've ever seen, because if you've seen any of the replays of like past up on his half, really slow it down, you actually see something pop up his leg. We've like seen torn achilles happened before, we've never actually seen it. You saw it. You saw something in his calf pop upwards. It was disgusting to watch. You watched it pop. You hear about like hearing a
pop and athletes hear it. And we thought Kim Durrette heard the first time. We thought Carl Anthony Talons earlier this year heard a pop and he came back a couple of days later. You saw the pop this time last night, and it was it's add As I said, as a Nick fan, it's a joke how this continues to happen to the next He was never gonna come here.
I'm telling you. The injury last night saved us heartache of waiting until July one just to see Kevin Durant signs with the Brooklyn Nets, so that he signed to the next Still that he signed the next now maybe next year. Like we said, he's gonna opt into that one year deal. Why wouldn't he? It paid thirty one million dollars to get it. Yeah, I mean, you look at de Marcus Cousins. I'm trying to think that the most recent player to have an Achilles injury Marcus Cousins. Right,
he's still kind of working his way back. I don't know where he was way back from that anymore, but it took him about a year. Well, like, doesn't he not look as mobile as he once was? But I wonder how much is that related to his latest injury. Maybe I don't know, um, but he got injured around February of Rant's older than Cousins. He's gonna be thirty two when he returns. Colby was never the same? Is that true after the Achilles? I mean he's still jacked
up forty shot tonight. So in terms of mentality, he was fine. So I was talking to Doc Jock about this last night. We were texting and earlier this morning, So Durant could turned thirty one in September this year the time. Yeah, we won't see him play again until he's thirty two, so it's not a doc joke about this. And he actually had a really good um Marcus Cousins eight, So I mean I think two or three years might matter.
He basically said, Um, where is his text? Uh? He said that ultimately Durant will be able to still shoot the crap out of the ball. He'll still be able to score because he's Durant, but he won't be nearly explosive. That makes sense, but he's not really someone of course it helps to have explosiveness, but he's not someone that relies on it though, Greg, I mean, he's a finesse player. He could shoot over anybody. Let me take the obvious
comparison with this injury. Does he become Karmalo Anthony? But him at his peak, He him and his peak had a better jump shot than Carmelo Anthony. So like he can age well with this injury. I believe that, like he'll still be able to shoot over people. He's still a seven footter who shouldn't be able to move the way that he does shoot the way that he does, He's just bigger than anyone. He could shoot over anybody. He'll still be able to spot up, shoot threes, mid
range fadeaways. He'll be fine. Like, is he gonna, you know, be out and running on fast breaks doing like crazy dunks or anything anymore. Probably not. I mean, it was never really a huge part of his game anyway. But I think that if there's anyone that can age well from an injury like this, it would be Kevin duran based on how great of a shooter he is. Let me throw this out at you as a Nick fan, Frank Durrett opts out, would you offering a max contract
knowing he's not playing the next year? Yeah, And I think you know, I've already had people hit me up today say, oh, the Nicks are gonna be this stupid organization to offer Kevin Durant a four year max deal and he's gonna miss one of one of those years. The Mix won't be the only team that's gonna do that. I'll tell you that right now. If he opts out of this deal, the Mix will not be the only team to offer him a max contract. See, I could see the Brooklyn Nets doing it. I could see the
Clippers still doing it. The Mix would not be the only team to do that. Greg, That's that's personally what I feel. What do you think? I agree with you? I agree with you last night's NBA Finals game when I said it in the recap, the range of emotions all night long for fans of both teams, I thought it was really remarkable. I thought that the Warriors get
up early with the ramp. They look like a totally different team, and they were hitting everything in the first quarter, UM and the Warriors around high, but you kind of just felt the Rappers were coming and pushing and pushing and pushing, and at some point they we get over the edge. While Leonard was awful in the third quarter and the fourth quarter, light bulb turns on and he was unstoppable for that two minute stretch we had ten
points and he was he was unbelievable. Where I was most impressed about with Kawhi Leonard last night, it was both following his misses and his teammates mrs. I felt like he had every rebound on the offensive side of the board, ball like his abrillion offensive rebound. The basketball was so impressive to me last night. And when he goes on this run and they get up six, I texted my group, it's over. It's done. They lost. Yeah, that's what I thought. And then Nick Nurse calls the
time out. The double time out is what it was. And he has come out since and said I was trying to get our team refreshed for the break for the final three, and Jamond Green is like, thank you, because we needed it. We were on our heels. We needed that time out. And this isn't to say a lot of people are pointing that time out because they
took away the dagger, and that's true. The Warriors tried giving this game away to their afters with the offensive foul and Booge Cousins, the backcourt violation on Draymond Green. They tried giving it to the Raptors. They've been trying to give them the entire series, and the Warriors defense they wound up clawing down what I did there, clawing down on Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors on crucial possessions.
The Splash Brothers hit monster three pointers, as they tend to do, and yet as the pendulum swung the other way with fifteen seconds to go and a chance to win the NBA Championship. Raptors had the ball. I don't kill Nick Nurse for not calling a time out there, especially because Kawai had the ball in his hands. He had it now, I don't disagree with the decision to pass it off. You had a wide open Kyle Lowry
in the corner. Draymond Green made an awesome play to get a hand on it and change the direction of the ball and ultimately saved the series for Golden State. It was an evan flow game all night long. We go back to Oracle Arena for Game six. I can't even imagine being a fan of either one of those teams, Like if the Knicks were in the spot either way on either like if they're the Raptors, so the Warriors here, I'm I probably have no hair left on my head today, Greg,
I'm probably ripping my hair out. So if you're especially if you're a Raptors fan, I mean, with the opportunity to win your first NBA Championship at home, up six, with that little time left, I mean, it was crazy. It was crazy. It was definitely up and down game wide range of emotions as you mentioned it was an awesome game to watch. That That's why personally I wanted the Warriors to win, just so that we could see more basketball. It's been. It's been a great series so far.
I still feel like the Raptors have vastly outplayed the Warriors throughout the series. I felt like they outplayed them last night too. It's like, the Warriors made so many threes last night, Greig, and they still only one by one point. So it's like if they are not making all those threes again in Game six, like they might get smashed. And still I sit here and tell you it defies all logic. The Raptors are the better basketball team right now and playing better basketball. The Warriors are
gonna win Game six. I I don't know that as good as that I hear what you're saying, because everything inside of me right now, all logic, everything that you see basketball lives on the court. Said that the Raptors should win this next game, Greg, But are the Warriors really gonna lose three games in Oracle in one series final game at Oracle? It just seems like there's so much drama and so much in terms of storyline that's like going their way. We're gonna play this one for
dray We're gonna win for Deray. I get it. And it just seems like they're gonna win, even though all basketball logic says that they shouldn't find out Thursday. You will, you'll, you'll, we'll, we'll, we'll find out Thursday, game number six of the NBA Finals. Surprised it's here. I'm surprised it's here. I'm surprised. We we we made it there, but yet here we are. It was awesome, It was absolutely awesome. It's been a
great series. Uh, Steve Kerr and show us on twe I don't remember who really looks like he's aged ten years over the last ten days. That's fair. I mean you kind of brought some of this upon yourself signing another superstar like Kevin Durant, right Like, you kind of bring all this this pressure and drama upon yourself when you have all these injuries going on and you signed DeMarcus Cousins to like again, Steve Kerr in the Warriors.
You kind of brought this spart yourself. You had a really really good core of three awesome players and Draymond Green, Clay Thompson, and Steph Curry, and you used to have a better bench because you didn't have to pay for DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant. I can't really fault them for wanting to sign superstar players, but if those players go down, then you don't nearly have as much depth
as you normally have. And uh, that's that's partially been why we're seeing Steve Kurry age the way that he is. It's been kind of brought upon themselves. What did you think that Nick nurse time out? I I understand why everyone's bashing him for it, because it's like, in hindsight, you ended losing right after that because the Warriors go
on and run. But you know, if the Raptors come out of that time out and they go and they go on like a six hil run themselves and they just win the championship, then everyone's praising him for it too. So I think it's like revisionist history, like everyone sees what happened after the fact, and they're killing him now for it. So I could see both sides of it. I guess, like I still I still don't love it, and it's Quia Leonard said, right, Leonard said that if
we win, it's talking about it at all. Yeah, but there were people on Twitter at least at the moment it was like this is not you deserve the criticism though, because you lost. Like, yeah, you're gonna see criticism for you deserve it, no question about it. Okay, anything else on Game five or Game six. Now, I think we pretty much, uh, pretty much through it out there. I mean, like Kevon Looney is playing with like one arm basically seems like he's gonna give it another go. He's gonna play.
They're saying, you know he can't, he can't further injure himself. Is that even true at this point? And true he couldn't let his arm over over his head? Crazy? I mean yeah, lots of lots of props to uh Kevon Looney for for fighting through it. You can see use a lot of pain. I think I think we're going seven. I think we get uh. I think we get basketball and Father's Day. We will take a break because when we come back on the BFFs, we're changing gears. We
move over to baseball. I wasn't watching any of it last night. I was watching the Game five. It's Frank Will filming in because he was twinning a lot about Animal Sanchez and Joe Moscow. Fantasy talk getting started right now here on the BFFs. A lot of people want to talk some baseball. Let's do
it right. Let's give people they want. So the first thing I saw to give you baseball last night was the increase ju list decision here Yankees. Horrible job by them, Like beyond what about the Yankees? Greig they didn't play last night. Correct? You opened the gates for people, you say legitimately at five o'clock gates shopping when it was raining all day. You and I talked about the day and you we looked at the schedule and we're like,
all right, what's up? And rain, rain, rain, rain, And then you decide, all right, at six, we're gonna cancel the game. Yeah, people already inside seen him. That's disgusting. The only thing that came out of that positively is if you started Zach Wheeler, he now has a two star week. So I benched Zach Wheeler because he was projected to have one start in Yankee Stadium, which was supposed to be tonight's night game. Once it got put
to a double header. He's now starting the first game, which is coming up at one o'clock PM Easter Time and about thirty minutes from now. And because he's pitching that first game, Greg, he's gonna have a two star week now on my bench in multiple locations. Are we sure about that? It's not a guarantee? Why bargain? I mean, who do I play? Who do they play this weekend?
The Cardinals? Who do they play on Monday, next Monday. Yeah, I have no idea what I mean, if it's like a division matcher they want, they want Wheeler for that rather than the Cardinals. Yeah, but from what I've seen projected on CBS, is because he's pitching this early game. I mean, they could still just go, like, they could still go in the same order if they want, Like Vargas might still have the two star week. But they're projecting now that Zactly look gonna have a tow star.
I mean, I don't know if that's fair because he's pitching in the early game. Yeah, that was a terrible call anyway, Greg, he plays. Yeah, they're in Atlanta next Monday. Like I think they hold Wheeler back for that. Well, I hope so. Because I felt terrible last night that I lost it on a two star week, I'm trying to make you feel better. Thanks, Greg, You're welcome. Frank, did you see the Joe must Grove and Josh Jonaldon ejections? I did so. I saw I saw a pitch by Musgrove.
You want to talk about gaining a two start week, how about losing a two star week? Greg? From Joe Musgrove, that seemed really culous, ridiculous from the umpires. Oh yeah, I mean Jameson Tyane was sweeting about it. He's like, he tweeted at the MLB, you have to clean this up because it's basically just, you know, I'm flexing their muscles. Nothing happened, the benches cleared, like Donaldson tried to push the catcher out of the way. It lies, Diez. Why
did Joe must go through his house? Like was they were ready to scrap but nothing happened? Was their history there and Joe? Well, when I was watching MLB Network, that's what they were trying to ask. They were like, well, maybe maybe Joe must Groves hit Donaldson in the past. They have some kind of history. And they ended up saying no, I mean our researchers saying there's nothing they could find regarding these two guys. So that was terrible. I wrote that down in the rundown, but with more
with more colorful language. Screwed up your bet, it did? I mean, because because Kevin Galsman still sucked, but whoever came in after Joe must Grove also sucked. Greg So sorry, I'm sorry, buddy. Yeah. Um so we lost we lost two star Joe Muskroven in two leagues last night, Greg, we did so great job, so he will start. He is now starting on Thursday. I saw it makes you feel better? Not really? All right? Where's the picture again? Us on Thursday? Does it matter? Maybe? Need it will be.
It's a better start for us potentially, um, because it was Braves Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Braves. Yeah, four game series, still Braves. So he's probably gonna hit and then he's gonna get kicked out of the game. Yeah, you might as well. Hey, why can't they just push him back to Friday because he faces uh in Miami? Why can't have a win? Why can't we do that? You know? Um? Yet even as well hit Donaldson, you didn't do it the first time. And then they hit Austin Riley later
on in the game too. I'm surprised there wasn't a brawl because of that, right, all right? Um? I wanted to hit on animal Sanchez because you have questions about what he did last night, Frank, because he only threw what sick the nine or so pitches in six innings, and I believe it was the third consecutive start that Sanchez allowed just one run is a two start week for Annibal Sanchez. Pitch very well against the White Sox last night and get you a quality store anivitoris he
picked about for the double start? Good first doubting for him? Yeah, it was a great first sounding. I just found it weird that he had such a quick that's a quick trigger when it came to Anibal Sanchez last night. I understand stand he gave up, you know, a couple of hits to start the start the seventh any but he's had sixty nine pitches and he had been pitching pretty well, only one strike, only one strikeout, He only had two swinging strikes. But you know, he was he was getting
the job done. He was getting a job done. So look, I think he can't get too greaty when it comes to Annibal Sanchez, if you started him in a two start week, you obviously still like what you got here. I mean, six sendings, pitched, four hits, one and run, one walk, one strikeout against the White Sox. He was in a good spot against the White Sox, gonna be in a solid spot against the Diving Backs later on in the week, so hopefully he can perform there as well.
But I think if you picked him up in a two star week, Um, this was someone that had like a breakout year randomly last year in the second half. He throws like a million different pitches right now, I've been looking into his uh, his pitching repertoires for so many different pitches. But I think that's because his fastballs ninety hour. So he just tries to keep hitters off balance by throwing as many different things as he possibly can.
But now this is three starts in a row since coming off the I l that he's allowed one er and runner less. He's pitched well. I know, it's like a veteran. It's kind of a gross situation. Might not have the most upside. But if he could deliver you quality starts and he's on the Nationals, he should get solid run support. He should put you in position to
get some wins. He's limiting opposing batters. Toweet twenty nine point six percent hard hit rate in a year where hard hit rate is up to about thirty seven percent on average. He's pitching pretty well. He's putting well, Gregg, so he uses a let's see there a four steam or eight percent of the time A cutter twenty seven per cent, a sinker nine percent, a change up, a
slider four percent occurred about six point seven percent. So he basically throws three different iterations of a fastball, uh and a changeup that he uses quite often, and then barely mixes in some breaking pitches. But it's working out for him well. So I think if you started him, even though he only went sixty nine pitches, Greg feel great about it. I feel good too, Man, I feel good too. He's pitched Wellson's the second half of last year. As you as you explained, he's you're right under fool
right now. You're you're feeling good about Animal Sanchez. The Nationals once again about twelve spot here. They got home runs from Trade Turner and kurtz Zuki Audam eating and Trade Turner bull stool basis ninth steel of the season for Turner, fifth home run, Turner batting to eighty four. He's in pretty good. It's coming off the I l what you expected when you drafted him in the top five. Howie Kendrick was the d H last night, Frank, and
he started a bunch of games in the row. Now, yeah, he's not started five of the last six games and the Nationals are four and two during that span. I was aunty about how he Kendrick last week. Why doesn't this guy just play every day? I realized it might seem a little bit flukey. He has never really been a guy who hits for power, but his hard contact is up this year. There's a guy that's always made good contact. He's been over three batting average for three
years in a row. He has eleven home runs and forty r b i s as a part time player. So he was a d H yesterday with the White Sox. Maybe he'll d H the next two days or so. But if he doesn't continue to play after they're out of an American League ballpark. The next part of the reason why Davy Martinez is fired or should be rather, I mean, you gotta you gotta be able to realize that put your best players on the field. Howie Kendrick is one of their best players right now. So definitely,
in deeper leagues should be owned. I would ride the hot hand. I mean, this is the great Sutan theory. Ride hot players while they're hot. He's been hot all season. Do that in twelve teamers. Definitely in daily leagues where you can put him in the line up. When he is in the Nationals lineup. He's performing really well. I don't know what else to say about him. He's batting well over three eleven homers, forty ribbies, has expected stats.
His stack cast numbers also really good. Lots of like about Howie Kendrick and their four and two in their last six games. So go, Nats, go, continue to play how He kend Go, Nats Go. On the side of the White Sox, only run was Leory Garcia homer. That was it only run scored by the White Sox all night long. But if you wanted offense, you need to talk about Arizona in Philadelphia, where there was a ton of offense in the form of ten home runs hit
last night by ten different players. Sorry, nine different players, have that right, Frank eight? I think there's eight eight different players because Scott Knary hit two and Waterway Score hit two. The only guy took Vargas. Yeah, in tomorrow Vargus. So they just hit a bunch of day years, A lot of home run guys, A lot of home runs are hitting this game. It's very confusing. I'm sorry. Ten hold runs hit here, unbelievably enough to four or five. Oh,
that's why I refused. It was ten different players hit home runs last night, thirteen home runs runs. I knew I had that number right home runs. And this is exactly why I don't like to start pitchers at Philadelphia, or I'm not I'm not even gonna want to start any of their own pictures in Philadelphia anymore. Maybe outside of an Aaron Nola. Let me just go Zach Efflyn in the right spot. But look, if you started Jared I Coffe yesterday. And yes, I'm sorry, I did seven
earned runs hit league. I'm sorry we let you down. Let me read you this scoring summary is really fun. Drud Dyson Homer folled by kenl Marte Homer folled by for All to Homer three nothing Arizona after the first, Jesus Gara Homer were one after the first, he got
a Franco ground it out. Reecee Hoskins singled, and Wardo Escobar Homer, Alexabila Homer, Scott Ingary Homer and war To Escmar Homer, Vargas Homer next up, and we're escort double the deep right, Scott Kingary Homer, Frace Harper single Vargas Homer, Reese Hoskin, Homer, Bruce Homer, ridiculous, ridiculous, Bryce Harper, no homer. Bryce Harper was basically the only person not to homer last. Nan doesn't even get a hit. Frank, he's last. He walked one time, he didn't. The only two starters not
to get hit in this game. I'm I'm looking at it, so I'm not gonna answer Caesar Hernandez and Christian Walker. Christian Walker at least the amazing walked twice, Greggy. When it comes to EDWARDO Escobar, we gotta open up a candle worms here because he is awesome, breaking out awesome before our eyes. Yes, last year to seventy two homers, eighty four rubies, we thought, alright, solid player, you get him as your middle infielder, shortstop later round, pick a
solid player, probably better for points leagues. Hits a lot of doubles right this year to home runs fifty four rb I. He is the number two third basement in Fantasy baseball, the number two shortstop in Fantasy baseball, behind two Rockies, Trevor Story and Nolan Arronado. Pretty sure those guys were drafted in the first and second round is respectively. EDWARDO Escobar has been amazing, Greg hard hit rate will continue fly ball rate. But we received a tweet. I
knew there was a butt coming. We received a tweet before said that there there's another Fantasy baseball show that says, and EDWARDO Escobar keep up what he's doing because his expected stats via stat cast are very bad. He's sitting expected batting average GREG is to thirty nine. That's stark difference his slugging percentages five. His expected slugging is fourty six. Jesus.
His average eggit velocity is eighty seven point nine miles per That is in the thirty third percentile in baseball GREG. So this gentleman asked me, how much weight do you put on can you? Can you give a shout out to the gentleman. Yeah, I find it, And he asked the question. I feel like he deserves an Johnny Mr Johnny Sacks on Twitter, Johnny Stanfel, No, not my brother. He says, how much weight do you put on expected stats? Because I play in leagues where I get fantasy production
for actual stats, not expected stats. And I thought that it was an interesting talking point because cause you're right. You know, if we played in expected stats leagues, then John Gray would be a first round pick and he'd be awesome. The way that I feel about expected stats, and and this is just this is my perspective. I'm sure you can ask you know, ten different fantasy I don't listen to get ten different answers. Right, these expected
stats are here to help you. It doesn't necessarily mean that those things are going to come true, but you kind of you use them as a measurement of what's almost what's expected in the future. So I'm not gonna sit here and say that they mean nothing. Because the expected stats say that Jose and Mirras should have a much better batting average than he does at this point in the season, and he doesn't. He's still batting around
two hundred, might even still be below two hundred. So it's like you can pick, and it's you can pick and choose where you're gonna use expected stats, which isn't necessarily fair, but that's where coming that's where watching the game and doing the eye test comes into play. Rights it's so not good, But like how your baya is. Last year, Greg was someone that I was off completely because swings and misses. A ton strikes out, his swinging strike rate higher if not, you know, right around the
same reigns as a Joey Gallo. Joey gallabatt's right around two hundred. So I'm saying to myself, well, how can how your baya is keep this up thing? His expected stats and his underlying numbers, they're not good. Sometimes you just gotta watch players play and they defy what the expected stats say is supposed to come of them. So that's why you know, we we use expected stats, but they can be misleading at times, they can be greg
I don't know if misleading is the right word. Because Eduardo Escobar, he expected his expected batting average to thirty nine. He's expected batting average last year was to forty nine. And he hit too. He he hit to seventy two overall last year, so he so he's outperformed his expected stats now two years in a row. Like I think, if you see that for two years in a row, it almost becomes a trend. Like this is someone that
can outperform what is expected of him. When he makes contact, it's really good contact, and he's in a really good spot right now in Arizona. So I'm almost I'm almost fucking the expected stats for a guy like at Wardo Escobar because the hard hit rate is up. This here, Greg, he's putting the ball in the air and that's pretty much all we can ask of him, right, I mean, this was Daniel Murphy from a couple of years ago. He started hitting the ball in the air more, his
hard hit rate went up. He was always a guy who would hit like maybe you know, fifteen home runs, really good batting average, around three batting average with the Mets. But then starts to raise his launch hang a little bit more, hits the ball in the air, and next thing you know, he's hitting three thirty with home runs. Yet, like some of these other guys, his expected numbers were much lower than that. So at a Wardo Escobar at this point is hitting the ball in the air more.
He's hitting more flyballs, he's making harder contact. You know, maybe he's not gonna sustain being a top three third baseman or shortstop reast of season. That's fine. I can get behind that. But even if you try to trade him, like, no one's gonna give you a top five, top ten option in return. So I'm just gonna write it out. I'm gonna write it out with it Wardo Escombar. I love what I've seen from him. He's he's made great strides. Greg.
Even if he is in the top two or three option rest of season, that doesn't mean that he can't be a top six option, top ten option. And based on where you got him, Greg, it's still worth keeping him for that. He's already You've already profited so much from him for where he was going in drafts. So there you go. I don't know if you have an answer when it comes to like the expected stats. I don't think you can. I think we want to be
leave in the expected stats. And that's what we ace on our moves during the season on right, like we expect this player to get better, we expect that this player to get worse. That's why people want to trade and Warder Westobar right now, I understand it. You're selling him high. Does he expect expectations that it goes down? It's very hard to do that given how hot he is. It's like a break, we'll come back. I wanta hit

A pitch last night against John Riu, and Riu was once again amazing, and the questions really were about Canning's ability going forward. U six sting seven hits, one run. The only run allowed was a homer to Cole Calhoun in the second inning as a solo shot walk Nobody strugg out six over
his ninety nine pitches. He is the r A went up to one point three six while Griffin Kenning, if you quality start, didn't want anybody five hits, three earned runs, he struck out of five. The Angel came back to win thanks to Mike Trout and friends getting the job done. Hands a rod List a lot, a couple of hits the ninth, but he picked up his eighth save of this season. Franks answer the people's questions, what do you
think about GRIFFN. Cannon going forward? I think he has the makings of an ace based on his swinging strike potential and the fact that no last night, I think he he matured a little bit because you see him give up three runs in that second ending, but then settles down after that and still is able to get through six innings, three earned runs against a really really good Dodger offense. And if you look at his swinging strike ratee on the year, sixteen percent. I'm gonna look
this up right now. I mean, if you were if you were qualified, that might lead all of baseball. Greag which is as crazy to say, because again he's a rookie. So I mean he's got nasty stuff. He's got the mid nineties fastball, he's got the breaking pitches, uh swinging strike rade. Right now, what do I say it is that would if he if he was qualified, that would rank third in baseball grade. He's probably not far off from being qualified either. Yeah, he probably just doesn't have
enough innings yet. He got he got a little bit of Number one is Blake's now nineteen point four percent, Eric Coles sixteen point five percent. Griffin Canning is third in baseball right now if he qualified, thirty five percent chase rate, so he gets opposing batters to chase. His x FIP is four point four five is hard hit rate is a little bit up. But strike out for Enning two point zero three walks per nine. I mean, there's a lot to like about the kid. The bat
is a little bit low at two thirty nine. You know, based on his hard hit rate, he probably should should have given up more hits. But I think if you have this kid in a dynasty or a keeper league, he's gonna be really really good for years to come. Grady, I'm I'm very excited about Griffic Kenning for this year now, I would probably right out with him for a couple of more starts, maybe even another month, but around the
All Star break I might try and sell him. I mean maybe even try now, because it's probably gonna be on an endings limit at some point. Greg. See last year he pitched just around like a hundred and ten innings, so you could imagine he might get capped at like one fifty this year. I don't think that the Angels are gonna be in the postseason either there. I don't think they have any reason to push him, so you do have to worry about him getting shut down at
some point or an ending his limit. But I would say he probably gets capped around. I think he's gonna be really good for years to come. Greg, I tend to agree. I like Griffin Canning. I think he's been
just a quality machine as of late. Uh. The polity starts in four of his last five grad it's called the quality start machine as late as I mentioned, and the one that he didn't get the quality started it was last time out Frankie Montas and Oakland allowed four runs over his six innings of work, but did strike out eight. He's been really good at my shot in his eighteenth homer of the year, I don't know he
realized that is eighteen homers or like Coca is fourteen homers. Yeah, by Trout, A lot of people are gonna look at him and uh, I think that he's having a down year. And I saw his on paced numbers are basically the same as like when he won the m v P. They are every year. Yeah, so he's he's like four foody, he's noting average eighteen homers. He has seven stolen bases.
He's okay, Yeah, it's pretty good at baseball. He's not not not really much else to say there, Yeah, no, not at all, not much to say it at all. If there was a draft going on today, Greg, can you justify Christian Yellows going ahead of him? I think so. I think you can justify. I think you're justifying. Would you do it? I probably wouldn't. I might, Yeah, I might. Yeah, Yeah, again, you can make the argument for it's just the safety we've seen. We've get Trout to it for so long.
I get it. That's going to be the discussion next year. Top three picks as of now, Trout yellow Bellinger. Is that is that the top three? That's the top three. I think it makes sense that was the top three when they were doing those drafts round Memorial Days, that was pretty much a consensus top three and sometimes the order change. Hedn't shout to me he's a no brainer, Yeah, I mean, yeah, why wouldn't Belier be up there too? Though, ye look at some of the other hitters. Yeah, you're
absolutely right. Wow, okay, um another hitter that's probably up there. I'll get to him in a moment. It's no one hour, not another homeworker last night, so we'll get to him in a second. Uh kenj And right, where would he go one of these drafts? I mean he's he erases at one point three six top twenty picture. Yeah, that's fair to say. Probably, Like if we were just doing a draft right now, I think he would probably go in the third round, third fourth round as somebody's ASP one.
I don't know that I would feel safe with him as my SP one one six. Yeah, but he still does have the injury concerns about it's been like all over the place, so like one of these things could easily flatter up again. The hamstring did flare up earlier on in the season. That was something he dealt with last year too. But yeah, has a top twenty picture,
you know, third, fourth ound. I think there might be some pause with him still because the injury concerns, so you might be able to get him in like the fourth. But yeah, I mean there's still a lot of baseball to play this year. One point three six e r A the x FIP two point nine one two point six. Yeah, he's amazing, amazing. He has like over like close and ninety strikeouts now and five walks. It's it's pretty good, Greg, very very good. Frank I mentioned seventy seven strikeouts five
walks in the season. I mentioned that Nolan Arnado who hit another homer yesterday, he started off the season relatively cold. I yes for him, but Arnado against you Darvish last night led his team to his victory with his seventeenth home run over this season. A lot of homers last night and for Colorado and in Chicago really was bomb's
away at Course Field. Ian Desmond hit his seventh, Charlie Blackman hit his eleventh home run over the season, um and the Rizzo his seventeenth of the year for Chicago, Kyle Shoreber, He's thirteen. David Body had his eighth. Uh, David Donalds still a base. He's been really hot as of late. Has doll Um batting hours of three ov P and then Daniel Murphy Frank stole third bass. Last night was a three two pitch to run out top of who swung through it, and Daniel Murphy stole third base.
For some reason, watching was watching that. Yeah, we're not We're not used to seeing him steal many basses at all, and I wouldn't really expect his moving forward. But I was very angry about Daniel Murphy earlier on in the season, and I still believe that it was somewhat justified. But he's back. He's He's absolutely back, Greg. I'm pulled it up right now. Since uh, since since matwenty one, he's basically been playing every day and um getting I think
getting his legs back underneath him. I think his finger continues to heal up and he continues to get healthier and healthier. Since matwenty one on, he's betting three forty three with a seven percent walk crate, a fourteen point seven percent k rate, three home runs, eighteen ribbies, since twenty one. I'm I will confidently say that Daniel Murphy is back. I don't really have a lot of question marks about him right now. Let's just hope he just
doesn't reinjure that finger. There you go, there you go. Um you Darvish, you were concerned about starting in Colorado, went sixty things, four runs, So I got three six hits. I think is a win. You start, your Darvish is a win. Yeah, it's not lost, not it's not. It's not a terrible outing, but you know, six and the four earned runs like in a vacuum. It's not a great start either, but the fact that it's in Coors
Field and he didn't get completely bombed. I was watching a lot of the start early on before the before the basketball game started. I just really liked that he didn't walk anyone. Zero walks for you, Darvish in this start, and he kind of continues to build off of what
he's been doing a lot of that recently. You know, he's two of his last but five starts he he doesn't have he has zero walks in in two of those, and then uh, you know the other starts he's you know, he's not walking six batters and more like he was in Miami. So he's been two walks, three walks, he's been around there, strikeouts coming around, weren't there last night. But again, really really tough Rocky's lineup. I think you Darvish is on his way, Greg, He's he's throwing his
cutter a ton um and he's on his way. But I had him, I had him in one league and he was on my bench, and that's what I said yesterday. So ultimately, I think you're I think you feel okay either way. If you started him, you should completely kill you. But if he was on my bench, which he was, I'm like, all right, I'm not mad that I didn't start him either. Totally ultimately gets the Dodgers. See what
happens next. Start her mom Marque has allowed three home runs on the night seven strike as for Marquez at home in Colorado four and runs is kind of what you get when you start her mom Marquez at home at Course Field, Wade Davis's back and got his eighth save all of the Season's got over against the winspit,
allowing a run in the eighth. Her Man Marks now five point zero six e r A at home three point three three on the road A clear you should do that basically what we told you coming into the year. You're paying a top twenty five price for a picture you can only start on the road. Is uh there anybody else you want to make sure we mentioned before we sign uf A YouTube. Uh, Charlie Morton. I think it's I think he's not want to mention Mike Minor
flying under the radar of this year. I mean Charlie Morton seven and he's pitched two hits, two walks, zero zero earned runs, seven strikeouts. He's now eight No. When I saw that last night, I had to do a triple takes, really take triple take eight no ear right now down to two point one zero. He was being drafted around top thirties starting pitchers. He was around that range, top thirty five. You're geting him as zero maybe SP three, SP four some locations, maybe even later than that. But
right he's been a godsend. You know. We question whether or not he can continue what he was doing the past couple of years in Houston with Tampa Bay. And I remember saying very clearly, if there's one organization that can get it out of him, it would be Tampa Bay. So if you drafted him, he's he's been one of the one of one of the god sends. I think you know I trust him right now. Is easily a
top twenty five starting pitcher. Charlie Morton was amazing last night, seven striking out seven innings, no runs, two heads, two walks. Mike Miner is a guy that I you know, the one of these guys in the pit leae that I had and dropped because you told me to. Um, I don't. I don't think I told you. You did for sure. Minor last night in Boss That's like I didn't tell you to drop drush Bell. You you didn't. You told me drop Minor. That's different. I don't know. If you can't,
we're gonna have to roll back to state. Mike Miner, Well, to be fair, I feel you can't trust anyone in Texas and uh both he and Lan flint Or putting it in my eye. So is Adrian Sampson. Yeah, eightnings. I mean now the Rangers are like two games out of the wild Card, absolutely having a really great year, and it's a frustrating Chris. It's frustrating for contenders that want to kind of poach these guys. They can't you
like my minor. We we keep saying that Sean Kelly is gonna be dealt at some point, right is he? I don't know. I meant they might just keep him around. He blew a save last night. Are we getting closer to jose La clark as as taking over the closure shop again? Chris Martin came in, got his second same of the year. Matt Barnes, So, Matt Barnes blew it in the the top of the ninth and and then Sean Kelly blew in the bottom of the night and then Ryan Brazier lost it later on. And there you go.
There's your reminded of Red Sox fans that Craig Kimberle is now a Chicago cub. With that, we're gonna say goodbye on YouTube right now. Coming up next it is at the Window Sean Grosstmakio will give you his thoughts on what took place last night in Toronto Game five between the Rafts and of course the Gold State Warriors. Look forward to that. Come up next on the podcast side, well, we'll get your fantasy best bets forever and we'll do
that right now. I appreciate you watching. We'll see you tomorrow. All right, Frankie, we have five minutes ago, which means it is time for our fantasy best bets forever. And last night we took an l on Joe Mushco with the Pirates not our fault, and I said, let get your money back for that. I like Jason Morgas and the Mets. They didn't play. I have no reason I have to go back to them, so I won't. Oh, come on, you don't like Jason Vargas against James Paxton.
Now tonight, Greggy, why not the will headed? You know things are mixing. Yeah, he's both being a little more refresh. Now I'm not going back to the world for that. You're not doing it, not doing that yet, so I will come back and go in a different direction. We have a lot of questions about John Means in Baltimore. Is that's the way you're looking tonight? Do you want to know they should start John Means against Toronto? Uh, it's I don't. I don't think it's a bad spot.
The Blue Jays haven't been great against left handed pitching this here. They have a two eighty four weighted on base average. That's twenty seven in baseball against left handed pitching. So I think that John Means can perform well here in terms of it's just hard to take the Orioles to win because they don't They just don't score that maybe runs. They're growing up against Trent Thornton, who has been inconsistent this year. He's had some good outings, there's
been other outings where he's been blown up. It's probably just a game that I would stay away from. But from a fantasy perspective, I don't hate John Means. Tonight tonight all right? What is your best bet forever? The one that's jumping out to me right now, greg Is Luis Castillo Luis Castio in the Reds money line plus one four team going up against the struggling Trevor Bauer. The ball has just been flying out against Trevor Bauer this year, and there's a decent amount of home run
hitters on that Cincinnati Reds team. Joey Votto has actually been coming around a little bit here. Derrek Dietrich, You know what, Derek Dietrich might be the safest bet, like a DFST perspective, tonight, he's gonna be in the line up. He's going up against Trevor Bauer, who allows home runs. Yah cl Pleague, who I wanted to talk about. Maybe we could get into him the next couple of days ago. But the batting average hasn't been there. The counting stats
are still there for ye Peak. They have some home run hitters. I think they might be able to get into Trevor Bauer tonight and Luis. Luis Castillo's resume for the season speaks for itself. I think the Reds win this game tonight. Greig so Thanky going with Luis Castillo and the Reds his best bet for ever for me, am, I not to take a favorite minus. Oh just went up again. Damn, I just watched it live. Go up those crazy So the favorite that I liked is that
minus one two. That's not that big. It's not bad. Now of the minus is that illegal? Then the Astros and Brad Peacock tonight at home against the Brewers. I'm surprised that this friend is not bigger. Um it is home. Peacock's prints pitched pretty well. I know it's the brew crew and whatnot, but I like I like the Astros at home, and I like them. Freddy parl the pitching, for sure, Yeah, this is the this is the Kevin Gausman theory. Greg. It's not that, oh, we love Brad Peacock,
we really want to take him against the Brewers. It's that we love the Ashtrows going up against Freddie Peralta. Correct. How many times are people gonna get suckered in by Freddy Parlta, Greg? Yeah, I saw him get picked up again in fifteen team leagues again this I saw the same thing and I didn't do it, dude, Like, yes, you picked him up after he just had the seven enning, nine strikeout game. That means you're gonna have him in your lineup for tonight when he's gonna give up six
earned runs and like three innings pitched. Very strange. He's just a really, really frustrating picture. I believe Nick Pollock Pitcherlist calls us a cherry bomb. He's a guy that can even a really sweet start every now and then, but he's also gonna get blown up. He's gonna get blown up tonight by the Astros. I agree that Peacock like the Astros tonight. I don't hate that either. I
just don't understand why people this always happens. He has one really good start, he will pick him up, and then you pick him up for the start where he gets blown up. I thought you're gonna I thought you're you're don Albert. It's probably gonna take him deep. Tonight, I thought you were gonna head to Kansas City and go with the ball the Tigers. I don't hate that. Plus plus what plus money with the ball gonna getting rocked.
But the problem with taking the Tigers money line is a lot like taking the Orioles money line, is that they're just not a good team. They don't put they don't put a lot of runs up. So that's you might ask yourself, well, how can they be underdogs against Jake Junus He hasn't pitched well all year. Spencer Turnbull has pitched pretty well well. The Tigers don't score that many runs. That's what it comes down to for me.
I like the Tigers and I like the Astros. Tonight, Uh, Frankie, you were going snatty read snatty reds over trippor Bauer and the Indians. Frank Stample, I'm Greg Susman, shaunk lost market ease next week. I appreciate you watching and listening to the best bets forever. We'll do it all go tomorrow, we hope joined the experts live on the air every day by calling in at April four, six, seven nine to join the Fantasy Sports Network
