You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Dun Yeah. Now, welcome up Baby Happy, your host, Fiday from Mine, your five guy, Rob, Sat, Francis, Frank stand ball ladies and gentlemen, your ps. And with that we welcome you inside Studio thirty four. This is the BFFs alongside Frank Stample. I am Greg sauceman, Franky, what's happening? But okay, what's up? Man? Happy hump day here on a Wednesday. More importantly, Gregg, this is a huge day. You know what today is.
I do know what today is. It is Happy birthday, Jimmy Nelson. Happy Jimmy Nelson Day. It's his birthday, returns third. Today he's making raising debut, first start since seventeen we are absolutely pumped. Let's just hope that it doesn't end the same way it did for Chase Anderson last night, and you realized there was his birthday too, and he makes his debut. I ken, he's thirty here ready. I know it feels like he's just a prospect. I know, well, people forget he had so many years of being a
failed prospect. Last week saw him seen not a failed prospect. He went through Let's say the Lucas Geelito turn around in seventeen. Greg, Let's see if he if he can pick up some of that night against the Morlins. I know you're very excited about the prospects, and everybody out there are also very excited about the prospects of big time Jimmy Nelson returning finally for the burs and getting into it the day show you the Best Bets Forever.
Coming up a little bit later on, we got a lot of news and notes to get to you, a lot of game stuff we want to uh talk about, as well as giving you some betting and fantasy advice. Frankie, let's begin with the latest out of Philadelphia, and that means Andrew McCutcheon is out for the season with a torn a c L. He got caught in a rundown, made a turn, didn't go well, and he is now out for the rest of the season with the torn a c L. He hopes to be back and ready
for spring training. Brutal lost affilities, brutal loss for fantasy owners. Yeah. I don't know if people realize this, but Andrew McCutcheon, he wasn't having the best year. He was showing signs of coming around over the past two weeks. He was betting three hundred with four home runs. But he had forty five runs scored this season, which was among the leaders in all baseball. I think he was like tied for fifth or six in the league with Christian Yellot.
So he's scoring a lot of runs. It's gonna be hard to replace that in your lineup. You know, to fifty five to sixty batting average gives you a little bit of pop. Had ten home runs as well. We were about a third of the way through the season, so Andrew McCutcheon was on pace four, you know, between twenty and thirty home runs, well over a hundred runs scored. I wasn't running as much. I think that's part of the philosophy of the Philadelphia Phillies. You know, Gabe Kapita
doesn't like to send these guys all that much. But ultimately, Greg, it's not going to be the easiest thing to replace those the decent pop and those runs scored for Andrew McCutcheon. But we'll try her best. I put out a poll. Put out a poll, Greg, because I own Andrew McCutcheon in one of my twelve team leagues. We own him together in a fifteen team league as well, where we
will have to figure this out. But I think a lot of the names that we've been getting questions about how do I replace McCutcheon, Derek Cooper, j Bruce, Visa Garcia, Scott Kingery, I think they're all pretty good options. I don't know that there's a wrong answer here, Greg, There's there's definitely a wrong one there. There's definitely a wrong answer, because only one of them is going to sustain to me, you know where Eileen Frank, I'm surprised you're you're even
questioning were what I'm thinking. I actually have no idea. Really, My guests would be that you like Ei Garcia correct to tell you might be. Of course, I like Garcia. He's my guy. He gets on base, he has power at to the top of the raised lineup. Well, you want to talk about sustainability, he has six stolen bases, Greg, You're not going to sustain that. More power than that, though, as long as he's in the line of every day I don't really had good great pop though he's always
been known for his bat to baby batting average, does everything. Well, you don't want to be baby Miggie. Well maybe last night you want to be again, Yeah, right, of course
against Blake Snell of all. How you know with Garrett Cooper, Greggy, what he did last night and what he's doing recently or for for a home run three runs scored last night, And you know, I was tweeting this out drink that the Miami Marlins are not the same team that you've just been able to stream any starting pitcher against in fantasy purposes because with Garrett Cooper and Harold mrs Have brought to the table for the Miami Marlins, it has
turned their offense around. They don't strike out as much, they make a lot of contact, they make hard contact as well. You know, maybe they're not prominent home run hitters. I mean, you wouldn't be able to know it based on what Garrett Cooper is doing recently. But what Cooper and Harold Mrez have brought to the Miami Marlins, Greg, I don't know that you could just stream every starting pitcher against them anymore. So, honestly, I don't really know
that there's a wrong answer. If I had to, I'll tell you there's a wrong answer. I would rank Scott can Ree last out of this punge. I agree with that. That's what I would do, sure, And I would rank at the moment Ja Bruce third at this bunch. Would you really, dude, Jay Bruce is one good game? 're freaking out? Yeah, but he's a good game also in a much better line up now, Greg, shouldna be in a much better hitters ballpark, even if we don't expect
batting average from him. Right, if we get a Bruce doesn't back two hundred, what Ja Bruce at time doesn't back two hundred? He is streaky a f Yeah he is? Well, that might make him better for rohdo then and head to head points. But you know, even if he's a two forty two fifty hit, the rest of the way. He showed you his upside again last night, three hits to I didn't need brands him do it left. We know, we know what the upside is like. Did you need
to see that to know? Well? I mean, people see the batting average and they automatically assume, well, all right, Jay Bruce at this point in his career, just pop, he's gonna hurt your batting average. And look, he's not gonna help your batting average by any means. But he's only two years older than Jimmy Nelson. Is he a two twelve hitter? Is he a two twenty hitter? He's probably better than that. But his pop, I don't know who that he is. You can't argue this, Greg, his
pop is the best of this group. There's no argument. I guess it comes down to what you need. There's no argument that his pop is by far the best of this group. But if they think, when you're trying to replace an Agema Cutching, you want the person who's gonna do a little bit of everything, have a solid average, give you runs scored, have a little bit of pop, get some more eyes. Cooper does that too, he does. I think you want somebody's gonna be more well rounded
than Jay Bruce. That's what brings me exactly for the biggest cutching with giving youth, and I think Cooper and Evis Garcia are probably the correct and that's exactly where my head's at as well. A right, So if you if you just want a close skill set to Andrew McCutchen, I wrote about some of my Patreon as well. I also mentioned, you know, a short term fix. I think
Derek Fisher offers something similar. Potentially Andrew McCutcheon can give you a little bit of power, a little bit of speed leading off for the Astros, but that's more of a short term answer, whereas I think Garret Cooper and Evisio Garcia might be able to help you more long term. This year, and I saw a lot of people throwing out Adam Hazley, the prospect that was called for the Phillies. To me, he's he's an and it will only add right now, nothing more than that fifteen teamers. You know,
I looked at the minor league numbers. Is the best tool is his hit tool, and even that isn't great. He's been you know, between two seventy and three batting average in the minors, doesn't really have a lot of pop, doesn't really have a lot of speed. Again, like it's chief exposure to the Phillies. But I don't really have high hopes from Greg so not even in like fifteen team Mixed. I'm really desperate for an now Fieler. But to me, he's just really and only for now. We've
spoken about players getting hurt, like Andrew McCutcheon. Now le's talk about players coming back. Mike cleving He is going to start He's triple a rehab assignment here this weekend. Great news for cleub owners. Let's say he you know, has a few rehab starts, he's gonna be back, right, He's gonna be back for the All Star raak just fantastically so last before they All Star break. So great
news for my Clevinger owners. That's awesome, especially because Jeffrey Rodriguez just hit the eye out for Cleveland, who had just been battered around and beaten in that starting rotation. Fernando Tatis Jr. He starts his rehab assignment. Finally, what's supposed to keep him out ten days, It's been more, which is annoying, but Tatis looks healthier now and looks
to be coming back. And zach Eflin, I know he's not on the level of the Tatis and not on the level of the Clevinger, but zach Eflin was kind of out of nowhere put on the i L last week. He's returning off the IL without a rehab start on Friday, making he's returning for the Phillies. Yeah, I think specifically, I did want to touch on Fernando Tatis has a
hit in each one of his rehab games. He returned on Monday, and he already has a stolen base as well, So that's good to see considering that he was dealing with a leg injury, so has hits in both of his rehab starts, has a stolen base already as well, So you know, it's been a long time coming for Tatis. I actually respect the Padres for what they're doing here, taking their time with him. You know, top prospect, you don't want to rush him back and then risk can
re injuring himself. You know, we always say this when it comes to prominent players who can make a major impact for Fantasy. We just want the teams to take their time do not rust these guys back because we'd rather you take the time and have them come back healthy. We have them for the long term, especially when it comes to Tatis. You know, the last we saw him was he was stealing a ton of bases and he's got a little bit of pop as well. So we need him back fully, and I'm very excited about that.
Another added element to the San Diego Padre's lineup. Hopefully he can give them a little bit of a jolt because a lot of underperforming so far. Uh Manny Machado hasn't lived up to it. Frand Milrays continuing to do what he does hit home runs, but overall I think the San Diego Padre's lineup has been inconsistent, so hopefully he can help out there great. By the way, I also do what I men came Andrew becussion of his tweeting back and forth Florida about this that one of
the biggest benefactors here. It says that Hernandez, who now goes from hitting seventh in this lineup every day, batting leadoff potentially every day. Now things could change. Scott Kingary could wind up there, Jean Segura could flip flop, a bit, but yesterday says that Hernande is back to the top of the lineup, which gives him a ton more opportunities to score some runs, maybe steal some bags. Really really uh like, says, hernand is leading off, very very good
news for his fantasy owners. Yeah, and he just has a better skill set than what Scott Knary offers for a leadoff man, because you look at the walk rate and he's a Hernandez career at ten point four percent walk rate that is down this year to six point nine percent. Last year he was up at thirteen percent.
And I've actually said this on the show before. I think, what's he's a Hernandez was doing this here was conscious, It's something that he wanted to do because he was batting more so in the middle to lower end of the lineup. I think he was taking a more aggressive approach, trying to drive more runs in. And I think now that we'll see him at the top of the lineup again, you'll see that more patient approach again and see him
start to draw more walks and score more runs. So the guy is absolutely awesome for O B P leagues. It doesn't really hurt you anywhere in Rhodo, but not really a standout anywhere either. Really really good for points seeds because thirteen percent strikeout rate, gonna get on base, gonna score a lot of runs. How about this yesterday, Greg, I thought this was really interesting for the Phillies lineup. Rice Harper was betting second, Jean's the girl was betting third.
Did we just get capitlerd I think it's a verb that just made it. I mean, I get you kapler As at his finest to be hold on. I don't I don't mind, don't blame, don't don't blame Capitaler for this. Well, in the Yankees earlier in the year, remember that right, Remember they had they had Great Gardner batting third. I didn't like that either. So I mean, I'm not gonna defend, but there's a there's clearly I don't know the answer,
but there's clearly a method behind that. Matnet Well, I think the reason why the Yankees did at the time, what I thought was they were trying to break up all their right ees. They didn't want to have too many rights in row, and they didn't have a lot of lefties. I think it was just you know, Brett Gardner at the time, and I think they were trying to slot him into the middle of the order to
break up the right ees here for the Phillies. Um, I guess the question would be, if you don't bat Jean Sigura third, if you like Brett Bryce Harper batting second, where do you move Jean Sigura too? Because not really a prototypical leadoff hitter. Yes he has speed, but he's more of an aggressive swinger, doesn't walk as much as a guy like sees O Hernandez. So where would you put Jean Sigura then? I mean, I guess the only
other spot I see would be six. You would probably put a guy like maybe you put Bryce Harper second, Reese Hoskins third, Jay Bruce four, Rio Muto fifth, and then Jean Sigura six. I don't I'm just talking this side in my head right now. They're trying to find ways to get it. Is Harper going? I understand it.
And we see this with a lot of batters in baseball, even a lot of teams best hitters, right, if they're really good, uh in terms of plate discipline and and and have a good eye, and they walk a lot, they'll bat second. We've seen it with Aaron Judge with the Yankees, so I can't knock them for wanting to do that with Bryce Harper. A little bit of a little bit of the moneyball effect here, Greg. They just
want to get guys on base and keep things. But I just thought it was really weird and interesting that Jane Sigara was batting third for the Phillies yesterday. So see what happens today. We'll absolutely get the lineup as soon as we get it at three forty, so we might get if we make a show before the show ends. I look at it right now, make sure I don't have it yet. We don't have it yet, all right. I just wanted to make sure they're we'll have to
talk about we do. It's a couple of lineups today, one of them being the Washington Nationals who lost Brian Doser do a hit by the pitch, which gives how He Kendrick an opportunity to play every day at second base. He's been a fifth in the lineup at second and Frank, you've been on how He Kendrick for a while now, and you say he deserves his playing time. Can I get the camera over here? Can I get like a we'll see these little red these little red dots if we can zoom in a little bit here this is
This is the Baseball Savants stat cast page for Howie Kendrick. Basically, the more red you see when it's going all that way, that's really really good. Like, Howie Kendrick is up there with some of the best hitters in baseball right now in terms of his exit velocity, hard hit percentage, expected WHOABA, expected batting average, expected slogging percentage. I don't know what the guy is doing right now, Greg, but it is working.
Howie Kendrick is seeing the ball well. The eggs of velocity way up this year launch angle up has expected batting average Greg three thirty two. He's in the nine nine percent. I don't know what Repents and Howie Kendrick car doing, but it is working because we're seeing a renaissance. And if Brian Dojer misses you know, any extended time here, I know you know. I've been at the forefront of the Carter Key boom bandwagon. We need Carter Key boom back.
Brian Doser sucks, but Howie Kendrick is pretty damn good too. So if Brian Doser is gonna miss any time here, and Howie Kendrick gets consistent playing time. I don't understand why he hasn't had consistent playing time already, Like David Martinez. This is the problem. We're trying to figure out why the Nationals suck. Why don't you just play the players who are performing the best. Howie Kendrick is performing like
one of your best hitters so far this season. So play the guy, whether it's at first base or second base, or use him at one of the corner outfield positions. The guy has been a godsend for the team. He has ten home runs, he's betting three thirty one, he's got thirty five r b I s as a part time player. Play Howie Kendrick, and if that happens, you're gonna want to add him in. All the twelve team leagues are deep. Howie Kendrick somebody roll worth adding right now.
According to our own Frank stand will get in. He's not just an old gross veteran. He's somebody very well worth picking up. We have a lot to get to, Frank from last night, specifically pitching performances with Kendrick and Rye making his case for the site up his floor. He was tweeting out, Pablo Lopez is just out of nowhere in Milwaukee, which was studying aurage of the numbers yesterday what he did? Who does away from Miami's and this kind of came out of nowhere. Back with you on the b f f's Frankie standplled Greg
Susman hanging out with you and Frankie. Let's get right into this pitching performances because John jan ryou is the best picture in baseball in en week after week, start after start a picture ever, No, the dude just puts up zeros and last night, once again, he was absolutely ridiculous for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Um as this lying you read it out loud. It's seven innings, three hits,
no runs, two k's, hundred pitches over seven innings of work. Yeah, he's not one of these guys that you're expecting him to get a turn point three five r. Does he need it though, Like does he need swinging strikes. It's just he's a master of commanding the zone. Right now. If you look at his walks per nine, there's zero point five six On the season. He has five walks in eighty innings pitch. That is why he hungine Ryu
is able to do what he's doing right now. And you can read me off the peripheral numbers on two point five four five x five Sierra. That's all. That's all good and fine. I mean, no one's expecting hingine Ryu to pitch to a one three five e r A for the rest of the season. Started to rup Cork Rosenthal. The Chicago Cubs are pushing hard right now for Craig Kimberl. So should we address that now or
keep going with right? Do right? We'll get into that a second, because I know where you're going with that, alright, So uh yeah, with hing and Ryou. Look there there's a bunch alike so far this season. It's the first pitch strike percentage up to sixty four percent, previous career high sixty one point seven. So he's establishing the strike zone early on in counts thirty six point three percent.
Oh swing, that's chase rate. How often is he getting opposing batters to chase pitches outside the strike zone thirty six point three percent his previous career high thirty one point six percent, So that is up five percent from his previous career hi and just looking into his arsenal. What he's doing a little bit differently is he's throwing a sinker more this season. He throws three different iterations
of a fastball. He has a four steamer, he has a cutter, he has a sinker that he throws this season twelve percent of the time, up from five point four. And I think that makes sense in conjunction with everything that's going on, keeping the ball down in the zone, getting a lot of groundballs already nine point eight percent groundball rate. He's not gonna pitch to a sub one point five ear A for the rest of the season.
There's gonna be starts where he gives up to three runs and that that raises his e r A. But this is a guy who has a two point nine six ERA in his career. He's a really good picture. There was never any doubt when it comes to that. And a lot of people are gonna raise the question right away, Oh, well, we gotta we gotta sell engine, ride, we gotta send sell engine right before he gets hurt. My question is, for what, seriously, rest of season, he's
a top twenty starting pitcher, top fifteen starting pitcher. Yeah, of course, like the obvious names. You're not gonna get a Mixtures there for him. We know that you're not gonna get Justin Verland, or you're not gonna get a Blake Snell for this guy. And he isn't even any of those pictures. But my question, Greg, is if everyone's saying, well, you know he's he's performing out of his mind now, he's not gonna keep this up, or he's gonna get hurt, I gotta sell him now. I think a lot of
people are gonna have a similar mindset. They're gonna say, well, I know what you're trying to do. You're clearly trying to sell hingin Rye for someone that you can trust more for the rest of the season that's not gonna get hurt. I know what you're trying to do. They're not gonna bite Greg, So I'm just me personally. Look, if you can flip him for a top fifteen starting pitcher you trust to stay healthy the rest of the way, Sure, but I would imagine in most cases fantasy owners are
too savvy to fall for that. Would you trade Rye for Clayton Kershaw? No, Because Clayton Kershaw is also an injury risk, and right now Ryu is pitching better than Kershaw. That was the one name that Hent lights tim it here. Yeah, I mean you can look at classic you know, sell high by low scenarios. Carrasco, a Noah synder Guard. Is that what you want to do right now? Greg, you want to give up a guy with a one three
five e R A Carlos Carrasco or North Syndergard. No, No, Look, I'm sure there's gonna be some people that and make the argument for it. You know, Ry's probably you drafted him as your SP four SP five, maybe even later than that, so you know, if you could turn him into one of these bylows like a synder Guard or Carrasco like, yeah, of course they're upside for the rest of the season, is probably better and we've seen them do it before. But we'll get to this a little
bit later on too. Something is just not right with Syndergard this year, and and then with Carrasco. He's typically a really slow starter in the first half of seasons. You look at it his for his career, he's got an ear A over four in the first half, and then he has a three three seven EARRA in the second half. So for whatever reason, he's just always a
slow starter. He's gonna get better. The underlying numbers for Carrasco are awesome, but I would I would want to hold on to Ryo you unless I can get a legitimate top fifteen starting pitcher rest of the way that I don't have injury concerns about. Okay, fair enough. I want to move on now. Given news from Ken Rosenthal that he Cubbies are trying hard on Craig Kimberal. Last night, patro stroke came back and gotta save here, Frank for the Chicago Cubs, you're waiting to see what would happen
in that bullpen. Well, they got up against the Colorado Rockies and it was Steve Schack pitching the eight padre Stroke pitching the ninth for his fifth save of the year. Ten strikeouts last night for Kyle hendricks Well, Jeff Hoppman got bombed predictably. So uh in this one page of strikes out there is they must add, Well, it's interesting because we have this Kimberal news that we have to deal with now, and it look, it doesn't surprise me. Greg.
I thought it was a really good point that you made yesterday that you know, Ben's obrist is dealing with this ugly divorce situation. He's been placed on like an administrative leave where the Cubs don't have to pay him, so they actually have more money to go around. And the Cubs always have money anyway, so it's not like
we even needed that. But if we want to throw more, you know, fuel on the fire as to why they might want Craig Kimberll, they have more money to go around, so they have eleven blown saves as a team on the season, that's tied for the third most in all of baseball. I think it makes a lot of sense.
I think, you know, if I played in a Roado league or a head to head categories league, yes, I'll be trying to add Pedro Strope right now because if they don't end up with Kimberall, if he ends up going to a team like the Twins or the Rais or the Brave instead, then I do think stroke is the closer, or now they could be in the market for and Alex Column a trade another reliever. In those formats, I would try and add Strope now. And I think it's pretty safe to say you can drops everywhere, third
or second in line. You could be third in line by the time this show goes up on the podcast and you're listening to us there, it could all be over. So let's keep a eye out and ear is open when it comes to Craig Kimber, Steve probably you now can be dropped. Um let's see Mark Mark Curry just reported I was talking had this Craig kimberal to the
cause of the ballpark last night. Obviously Kimber would improve every team, every team, and I still don believe the place he had the most impact on is with the Twins. So it sounds like for kimberal it could be Twins or the Cups. What about the Braves? What happened to the Braves? Are they falling out of this thing? Great? I haven't see think they're going harder after Kaiko haven't
seen it all? Right? Well, yeah, look, I think it makes sense for the Twins to their bullpen has been peace together so far using Blake Parker and Taylor Rogers and Trevor May and his setup role. But look, they want a lockdown closer if they want to cement themselves as a legitimate contender. This year. Then, yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense for the Twins to
go out and and be interested in Kimberal. It might actually make more sense for them to be in on Kichael because I don't know how many starting pitchers they have in their rotation that you know they can actually trust in a three or four man rotation when it comes to the postseason. But that's just me. I think the Braves should be going really hard to let's see
what happen. Definitely now as we continue on around the major leagues, the biggest score that stands out Sea last night was in Miller Park, and it wasn't that it was a sixty nothing victory. It was that it was a sixty nothing victory where the Brewers lost lost to Pablo Lopez. And what about the revenge game for Christian Yell. It seems like it didn't matter. Frank did. Chase Anderson pitched poorly, but Corbyn Burns pitched worse, and Taylor Williams
pitched the worst in this game. Of the Brewers who seemingly never had a shot. Even her now in Perez pitched better than these guys. My man here not Perez were not not a shock that they see him pitching well. Um, Pablo Lopez goes six shut out in the last just three hits and a walk while striking out seven, finally getting done on the road. Great start here from Pabolito. Yeah, I'm really excited about this. I thought this was a big moment for Pablo Lopez to go into Milwaukee. Had
terrible numbers on the road this season. Uh, and we've been clamoring for Pablo Lopez. I think we all. I think he's a talented starting pitcher. He hasn't necessarily put it all together yet. I think he's kind of learning on the fly at the major league level. But you're starting to see it now a little bit. Some glimpses
here from Pablo Lopez. Doesn't completely overpower you. Fastball ninety three and a half miles per hour on average last night, but works in a curveball that he threw seventeen times, a changeup that he threw five times. So he has your classic three pitch makes. He has a fastball, curveball, changeup. You know, load of mid nineties fastball. He maxed out at ninety five at times yesterday, ten swinging strikes on
ninety two pitches. UM, really really good performance. I mean seven strikeouts against this Milwaukee Brewers team they are prone to striking out at times. Really really like only one walk for him. You know, we've we've all been on Pablo Lopez at some point this year, and I've held onto in in fifteen teamers. In fact, in the main event, I benched him this week. That's how scared it was
of this start in Miller Park. But I'm not mad at myself because it's something hopefully that he can build off moving forward and continue to be maybe that SP five maybe SP four that we all thought that he could be. So I thought this was a really really encouraging performance to build off for Pablo Lopez. Great Pavo Lopez was absolutely fantastic. Hopefully this leads to even more
good things. But the story when he put up sixteen runs is of course Garrett Cooper who he went four for five with four runs, score, a couple r v i's and a walk, as well as Harold Ermier is going for two for six here. Uh, he's worth mentioning as well. He's mentioned before, UM, Garrett Cooper, how good he's been held AMR is also worth talking about yeah. For Garrett Cooper right over the past two weeks, three fifty seven batting average, five home runs, thirteen RB. I
shout out to Craig Mish. You can hear live on fmcs Y Radio right now from twelve to two pm. He's been talking to Garret Cooper for a long time. He's really really close to the Miami Marlins organization. Again over those last two weeks and ops over a thousand, I want to see the launch angle pick up a little bit, but I think we're starting to see that again. Five home runs during that span makes a lot of contact, makes a lot of hard contact. Um. I like Grek
Cooper a lot. If I had to choose one between him and Harold Ramirez, I do like Cooper more, and we spoke about it at the top of the show. If you're looking for an Andrew mc cutcheon replacement, there might not be a better guy than Garrett Cooper right now. Greg A question I kept getting last night was, and it's something I'm actually struggling with myself, would you drop Gregory Polanco for Garrett Cooper? And the the answer I kept giving people was I don't want to drop Gregory Polanco.
Because it last year, hey, and then he took off. We know what his upside can be. He's a guy that can be streaky at times and he can go on these big runs. Plus he's coming back from a major shoulder injury. I cautioned everybody that he could get off to a slow start when he comes back, and he didn't necessarily do that. I think we're starting to see some of that now. Infordo went through the same thing last year and it had a monster second half. That could be what we're looking at when it comes
to Gregory Polanco. So I understand, you know you only had limited roster spot. I would try my best suit to keep Gregory Planco on my bench. That's what I'm doing right now. It's a twelve team, head to head points league, it's a four outfielder league. I got him super late and he's gonna have keeper value. So I'm trying my best to hold onto Gregory Polanco. But I understand the frustration. I would just keep him on the bench right now. Greg I agree for someone who didn't
drop Gregory Polanco was got see what he got. Don't give up on Gregory. Don't give up on Gregory. Uh yet give him another opportunity, give him a chance to come out of this funk. We've seen what he can do now, cople of other pitching performances, I wanted to get you, my man. Frankie Montas against the Angels pitched really really well until the sixth inn He hadn't allowed anything until that six anywhere. Hyotani got to him to
go deep and that was all that he allowed. Oakland won this one for to two Lopez or Manta rather for it. Hits, two runs, a walk, and three strike aspen four. Oakland was very, very good. On the other side, Griffin Kenny allowed runs on his six ins of work, seven hits, eight strikeouts, a walk. Uh. The big last for him Ramone Loreto with a two run shot in that sixth inning. Yeah, I'll start off with Frankie Mantas here, really really nice bounce back performance against the same team
that he just got rocked. So I love to see that. Right, just got rocked against the Angels his last time out, struggled with walks, had five walks in that game, four earned runs. Comes back here six ending pitts, only two earned runs, only one walk. I love to see that from Frankie Mantas that ability to bounce back against the team in the Los Angeles Angels that doesn't strike out a lot. He only had four swinging strikes, he only had three strikeouts. I understand that. I don't think that's
a detriment against Frankie Mantas. I think that just speaks for how much contact the Los Angeles Angels make and have made so far to this season. So really really nice bounce back here for Frankie Mantas, I would say that he's firmly entrenched himself as a you know, top forty starting pitcher moving forward. And for Griffin Canning, you
didn't necessarily get the results. He ran into some trouble at times here, but he was able to piece together a serviceable outing here or earned runs six and he's only one walk eight strikeouts. He also had eighteen swinging strikes here. So Griffin Canning has some nasty stuff. But you know, as we've seen with other young starting pitchers Chris Paddock, they're not always going to be great. You know, They're they're gonna they're gonna run, they're gonna be some
ups and some downs. So overall, I still do really like Griffin Canning a lot moving forward, Griffin Canning somebody that expected bounce back next time out of course him much like Mantas based the same team twice in a row. We saw both these guys can in the opposite direction last night. I'm so confident in Griffin Canning uh to you know, listen, a lot of two runs shot in the six otherwise he would have a quality start and
basically the same exact line of Franky Matas. So I'm not worried about start out to your best bet for every yesterday, Greggy, Hey, buddy, six runs combined that that would be uh, if my math is correct, would be eight and a half total runs. Now, I'm not gonna I'm gonna ignore your best at forever, and we'll talk about all the other ones that we talked about, except for the Orioles. We'll ignore that as well. We'll talk let's handle Chris Paddock versus JAREDI Cough from yesterday, because
this is the one that we both liked over. We thought it was a sucker plays about the under here and it was going over was the move as Paddock facing a tougher Phillies lineup, It's rocked four and a third, eight hits, six runs, five of them were earned, struck out four allowing to home runs. Jared I Cough in the equality start didn't walk anybody. That was the key there, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out five. He allowed just a home run do Fran mill Rays who
he too on the night. Um. We talked about j Bruce before, who were twice, including the grand slam of Paddock in the fifth. Scott King Ray had a huge game too. A lot going on in this one, Frank, Yeah, this was There was a lot to happen in this game between the Podres and the Phillies. But it's now you know three of his last four starts for Chris Paddock where he's allowed four earned runs or more. And shout out to Matt Modika who was tweeting this out
just a couple of hours ago. During that span last four starts for Chris Paddock five point eight five e r A four point three zero x fift three point nine one. Sierra. As good as a pitching prospect as you are, You're going to run into some trouble at some point at the major league level. Every starting pitcher goes through this. I mean, Max Scherzer got off to a slow start this year, for God's sake, So let's not just freak out about Chris Paddock right away. Oh
my god, I need to sell him. Oh my god, I need to sell him. His next start is going to come against San Francisco. So if there's ever a time that you maybe you wanted to shop him, it would be after that start, because I think that he would bounce back. But I was reading a little bit his quotes on you know, last night's performance, and he has admitted himself he's hitting a wall right now. And it all starts with the command of his of his change up. So he said he just didn't necessarily have it.
He normally he's able to pinpoint wherever he wants to put that pitch within the zone. He wasn't able to do that last night. He's going to run into these issues. Also, velocity a little bit down last night, the home run that he gave up to King Reyer fastball he's normally been nineties. So I mean to pay attention to here or Chris Paddock. I'm not just completely freaking out and saying cell right now, We'll take a break here we'll hit on some more hitting performances last night. Give your

Um after the show, take some pictures, Greg, send me do you want do you want me to? That's why why I asked me to. I'm just missing all right, fair enough, Frank, thanks thanks for the update there now, so you could you could actually put put some bets in tonight? I could if you're heading out there, slash probably whatever my best bet
forever is, I probably should put that in tonight. Yeah, it's the second I walk into Jersey. I could do that. Yes, you kid, something I've done myself. You have many times you skulkies. You have a beer. I'm sorry you got a hobook and have a beer. Place those bets in a bunch of at the time football bets. Yeah, should you have a baseball Why isn't this happening in New York. Kick Greg because they want you to save your money. Frank. Also, we've been very hot. We've been hot. Can not be yesterday.
You can make a living doing that. They certainly can, as long as you bet enough to do it. M M, all right, what do we want to get into you? Still from last night here meeting to Mickey Callaway and no Ah Syndergard. So no, no, I was just like it was at at Mickey Callaway and so that's what that was. Because you want to do a time. They've
been quite frustrating, all right. So um so last night Synderguard stroll a bit early to get it going and then retired ten of twelve batters, one of which reached on an error and the other one just just reached. Micky Callaway comes takes him out because he's afraid of Mike Yastremski stealing a base on Noah synder Guard and those Cynda guards just like, are you eving kidding me? He pulls them. Next thing you know, Seth Lugo allowed was massive Brandon Belt double game is ti Evan Lagoy
gets thrown out at home plate. They put up a billion runs in the tenth Mets lose, Frank, what do you do with notice inderguard? It's still been a frustrating year for Noah Syndergard. I mean, this is a spot that he you're expecting him to dominate in. I don't care that Mike yes Stromsky is in the lineup, grandson of Carl Yastremski. But six point two winnings, five hits, three on runs. I realized one of those runs came after he left the game. Three walks, only four strikeouts.
Now a four point eight three e r A for Noah's synder Guard. All the underlying numbers for him are much better. Three points six zero five three point eight nine x fIF three point nine six ERA. Strand rate is got awful at sixty four and a half percent is bad as high, but as bad up has always been high. It's being strike right down this year. Strikeouts are down this year. I don't. I don't own him anywhere. I'm I'm happy that I don't. He's he's throwing his
slider less this year. Last year twenty point nine percent slider usage this year eleven point nine, So that's down nine percent. But the velocity on that slider is also down four percent this year. So because hann Has hasn't had the same level of effectiveness, I've seen people complaining about this on Twitter, using his change up more as well. It seems like location within the zone is that like just leaves a lot of pitches up and people are squaring up. You know, the harder you throw, no, the
the higher you know, the bat up against you. It's gonna be if you live in the zone and you throw hard. No ask Nathan of Aaldi all those years. You know you live in the zone, you don't walk anyone. You throw hard, you're gonna get hit hard. So we've continuously said this about Synderguard. Seems like he's more of a thrower than a picture. What I mean by that, it's just doesn't understand the sequencing or you know, pitching up and down and moving in and out. He doesn't
understand how to be a picture. I don't know what it's going to take. Like if he hasn't figured it out at this point, six hundred endings into his major league career, I just don't know when it's going to happen. You know, what do you do with Syndergard? Greg? Honestly, I don't think that I would even try buying low on him. I think most fantasy owners that own him are like, I know what you're trying to do. I'm
not gonna fall for this. And if you try and trade him away, you're gonna get what fifty of what his value was expected to be coming into the year. So, um, you're in what I like to call fantasy purgatory right now. You're stuck. You're stuck. If you own him, you can't really trade him away. You're not going to drop him. And if I'm an owner in the league, and I don't you know, if I if I'm just another in
gonna try and trade for him. I try to trade for him, but there's no way I'm gonna give you what you you believe because he was a you know, third round, second pick, second round pick, third round pick, greg and you know you're gonna try and throw Let me try and uh sell high on a Frankie Mantas something like that, and then you know no one's gonna
trick take Frankie Mantas for no one's Syndergarden, rightfully. So, so I think this is a sergard I mean I'd rather have gileto right now would you would you would not trade overy? No underguard? No, I mean it's working for Lea. I understand that. I mean I don't see any signs of him falling off. That's cool. I wouldn't do it. It was awesome. Would you trade oh, I mean we spoke about earlier. Would you trade trade ry you for lead us? No? I would not lead us.
Phip is writeing loud with the ear is extually specifically higher. But he's famous right there, man, there's a home and a fly ball racers six. Yeah, and look the weather's gonna heat up. He's gonna give up a few home runs, especially pitching in Chicago, but was doing phenomenal things this year. Swinging shrike rate is better than Noah Cydergards. I mean even his underlying numbers, his three point six six x
fit and his three point six once a year. This is Lucas Gilto significantly better than Noah Syndergard would why would I make that deal? Right now? I'm keeping Gileto, okay. I wanted to get into the Nationals. From yesterday, the Washington Nationals UH defeated Lucas Gilto's team, rand Ronaldo Lopez and the White Sox are Ducks got it wrong, um,
and that's one nine to five. Straspeck wasn't good. You almost gotta have pitched by Lopez, but he didn't, and then the White Sox bullpen failed and ultimately Nationals one, nine to five. But what I want to take away from this game is what Victor Roblas did in this one. He went too or four with the run score, a couple of r V eyes and he also had his ninth home run of the year roblast betting two or three o b P. He's got those nine home runs
as I mentioned, to do alone with nine stolen bases. Frank, you are a Victor Roebliss owner. Are you satisfied? Victor Roblos, for me is one of the hardest hitters to figure out. I actually wanted to have a little bit of a back and forth here and and find out what you think about him, Greg, because by all accounts, back and forth sounds. Can we get a camera, Greggy, what is he doing right now? Well, I'm back and forth, camera, Gregy.
That's back and forth all right? Well, by all accounts and measurements that you can use to figure out whether a hitter is a good hitter or not, Greg, Yes, Victor Roblost is below average and all of those seems. He has a nineties six weighted runs created plus one is average. He has a seven fifty four OPS. I don't think that's gonna get it done yet. He has nine home runs and nine steals, so he's basically on pace for season. He's on pace four over five runs scored.
But he's a two forty hitter with a strikeout rate and a six percent walk rate. If I own him in Rodo, I think I'm I'm fine, Like, I don't really care that you're batting average sucks. Yeah, it should come up a little bit. That have been is a little bit low. But his hard hit rate, Greg is, it's twenty two in an arrow where I mean the average hard hit rates serees like tht seven percent. He's a twenty two percent hard hit rates. So, like to me, Victor Roeblates is just one of the hardest guys to
figure out. It still has an interesting power speed combination. So in Rhodo, I think I'm all right. But like a points league, So is he a good hitter? Greg? I guess that's the question. I don't know the I don't know the answer to that. If he just really athletic, is how what it comes down to. Yeah, he's fantasy wise, he's fine from my rod perspective, as you said, because never's gonna be there like you're looking. You were looking trying guy out of Victor Roblez hopefully, and he's kind
of talking about like starlely Marte. Right, but that's without the batting average. That's what we had, And I am concerned a bit that that batting profile is terrible, but the numbers are gonna be there ultimately, so you're all right with it, I guess. So, Yeah, we're gonna points league. It's it's a little bit harder because at least in the points leaus I play and you lose a half point for a strikeout, so he strikes out a quarter of the time, doesn't walk all that much. Um, I
think the batting average will be better. The fan Graphs projections have him for a two fifty five batting average the rest of the way. Derrick Cardi actually the bat has him met for two seventy five, So some lofty expectations there. With twelve home runs in thirteen stolen bases, the rest of the way that would give him, that would give him a any one home run when he two stolen base season, I'd be pretty good. I mean you you signed up for that. We came just wanted
to get that batting average. I agree. Okay, what else we want to get to? We have actually know what we gotta get to our best bets forever. And we got signed off YouTube because at the window is coming up next. We don't because I'm doing this thing first, So I don't really have to sign off YouTube. Don't wenna, stay on YouTube. We're gonna stay on you way to stay on you. You go way to talk it out. I just realized if we didn't have to you, so we'll stay on YouTube, We'll get the best bets. We'll
continue on UM. Austin Riley Greater signed Vladdie d Vladieto Jr. Ied the Junior want to see Lado, So I'll try this again. Austin Riley Greater sign of Vladdie Jr. That's fair question. Everyone's waiting for the wheels to fall off when it comes to Austin Riley because he has a thirty two point nine percent strike out rate and just a five percent walk great, but he also hits the ball hard fifty two percent at the time, puts the ball in the air forty three for ten of the time,
a thirty percent line drive rate. I think in the future of Vladi mcgaro Junr. Will be a better well rounded hitter than Austin Riley. If you can pull that off in a dynasty or a keeper league, that's probably something I would look into doing. Selling Austin Riley to get lad Jr. This year in Redraft, I don't think I'm doing it, Craig. I think I'm just gonna write it out. I mean, Austin Riley, the guy who's played
eighteen games. He has twenty five RBIs that is this massive, and he has nine home runs, so I understand the plate discipline. You have some question marks when it comes to Austin Riley, but battball data supports a lot, if not all, of what he's doing. So again, Redraft, I'm probably just holding on to Austin Riley your thinging long term. I think Vladim mcgarero Jr. Long term will be the better player. Fair enough for right now, Austin Riley clearly
getting it done. No signs of slowing down for the big man from Atlanta who does not seem to be in the mix for Craig Kimbrell, as you would call him. I would never do that to you. I'm not that's exactly right, you know, you know, want to continue my mock. I mentioned the Rockies before I forgot to mention Danny Murphy with a bomb. Well, you can't mock me. I got him on my teams. I'm excited, happy started. He's back. Daniel Murphy. He's back. And I mentioned this either last
week or the week before. He's either learning how to play through this, you know, finger fracture thing that he had going on earlier on the season, or he's just getting healthier. So it's whichever one it is. I'm perfectly fine with it. So Daniel Murphy is coming around, um, and I'm excited about it. And he does that in the revenge game against the Cubs, very slight revenge game only played about half a year last year with the Cubs. That one doesn't even count, but it still counts. Greg
over the past. Let's see here, what measurement do you want to go by? Because all of them are good. Last fifteen days, last thirty days. Let's go with last two weeks for Daniel Murphy re sixty batting average to home runs sixteen r b i s and ops over a thousand. So Daniel Murphy's coming around. You had your opportunity to buy low, and now it's gone. Happy about Daniel Murphy. You wanted to drop the dude, well, because I'm losing in my leagues and I need the guy
to play, and he wasn't playing. He was sitting out against lefties. It doesn't seem like that's the case anymore. It's actually better than here against lefties and his righties. But Black, let's get the best bets forever here on the bf S b F f's What are you going, Frank? What are you looking at? Kevin Gosman? Probably? Yeah, I don't like Kevin Gosman. That is well documented, the gas man they call him. Um. There's nothing that really stands
out to me today Greg that I love. But if I had to choose one thing that I would throw a few shekels down on, it is the Pittsburgh Pirates money line with Joe Musgrove. I realized Musgrove hasn't been great either as well. The velocity down this year or Joe Musgrove, but I still think he's a better pitcher than Kevin Goalsman overall. And the Pirates lineup has been a little bit inconsistent, but I think they could get to Gasman. Here you're getting the Pittsburgh Pirates and Joe
Musgrove at plus one twelve. They are underdogs at home tonight with the money line. So I am going with Big Joe, going start, Joe muscob start well, Joe must betty on Joe Musgrove. It's not I haven't even loked at the totals. Totals usually my jam, but I haven't looks at the totals tonight. There's one that stands out. You're not gonna like with my pick tonight at all. I'm telling you right now, you're not gonna like it. There's nothing it really stands out, like Carrasco Martine Perez
eight and a half. Rasco hasn't been good. Martine Perez has been bombed as past couple of starts. The Twins can get home hit home runs and bunches. You know, I'm actually kind of talking to myself into the over and neck Indians and twins over eight and a half. Craig, what do you think? I don't love it. I don't love it alright, I'm going to total because the total has been my jam. Like I said, you're not gonna like this at all. I mentioned I mentioned one of
them downstairs. I have my head bun in here. You're not gonna You're not gonna like it. You'd be mad at me. I'm going over up. We're going over nine in Jimny Nelson's return, over nine in the Marlins and the Brewers and Bruers got shut out last night, sixteen nothing. You know they're putting up runs, Jimmy Nelson. How deep is this dude going in the games? Everyone just thinks the Marlins are gonna get shut out or something because they put up sixteen runs last night. I don't think so.
We're going over nine in the Word Crew in the Marlins. His birthday, Greg, same on you. Maybe he'll win. It's his birth some runs, Frank, I will say, there's some value in the Marlins. Money like to like Jimmy. It started seventeen. He's the minus two seventy favorite. Come on, guys, we don't even know what the guys gonna we don't know how many it's he's gonna throws two seventy. Really, I know, Sandy all Katara has been because the total that I did want to mention Greg was the Cubs
and the Rockies. It's total. There's seven. It's Darvish against her Man Marquez. Marques has been a sudden I realized that. But Cubs have a really good line. I know he pitches better away from cors Field. You Darvish has been better recently. What can still be prone to getting blown up? That total at seven is really really low. It's low. It's low. I like that, Frank, I like where your head's at. I think while we're just mentioning the Cubs real quick, Greg, I did want to get to this
today on the show. Kyle Hendrix has been awesome recently. You know me, not Kyle Hendricks guy admittedly seven innings, pitched, six hits, three earned runs, one walk, ten strikeouts last night over twenties swinging strikes against the Colorado Rockies. How Hendricks greggy since the start of May seven starts two point zero nine e r A or seven strikeouts, the six walks in fifty one and two thirds and he's pitched. He's at one point zero five walks per nine. Would
you sell high on Kyle Hendrix right now? Yes? Yes, thank you, yes, yes, and we get Do you think you can get corre Asco, Flaherty or Zach Wheeler for Kyle Hendricks No, No, I think you might be able to. I would throw if I own Kyle Hendry. I'm throwing an all for out for each one of those pictures right now. Give us like five minutes at the window with Shawn Watstavakia is coming your way next, Frank Stample and Gregg Sousman. We'll do it all go tomorrow, we hope
