Okay, the highest paid player on our team, the highest paid, I believe, highest paid quarterback in the NFL, Russell Wilson. We should probably let him throw the ball a little bit more. But even if he doesn't throw the ball a little bit more, just natural volume increase for Tyler Lockett here is going to take place. Because Doug Baldwin led this team with like seventy two targets last year, Tyler Lockett finishes a top twenty wide receiver, scored ten
touchdowns on just sixty six targets. Now, his efficiency is going to regress, but it's going to be canceled out by the fact that his volume is going to go up. I think we're gonna see him anywhere from like a hundred to a hundred and fifteen targets this season. So when we're talking about that breakout wide receiver, tier Lockett, Mike Williams, Calvin Ridley, D J. Moore, Tyler Boyd, everyone's excited about these wide receivers. I have Tyler Lockett at
the top. Let's say, Nick, Yeah, I'm smashing the button on Tilder lock It there as well. I think you know the point you laid out obviously, they're going to regress. My problem with people's analysis on Tyler Lockett is if you have to look at a player and you're only negative point about the player is that he's gonna regress.
That's not a good argument. You're basically saying he's a very good player, And I don't really have a point except for I think he's gonna aggress and we've seen that bite people, you know, very a few times over the last few years. Like if you were on the Tyreek Hill train of him aggressing, you missed out on his like a fit Listen. Some guys are just good at football. Tyler Lockett is one of those guys. Doug Baldwin had more targets than Tyler Lockett did last year.
I didn't even realized Doug Baldwin played in more than like four games, but he ended up with more targets and Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett is going to slide into the slot, which I think is gonna be a very I'm gonna try to say this correctly voluminous role. So he's gonna see a lot of targets coming from the slot. It's also a great deep ball threat. What does scare me. I will say that kind of puts me on a little bit of a pause. Is that is that Seattle offense?
I was looking at some Vegas odds. Um Draft Kings just put on their their sports book. Um, the player props for the future. Russell Wilson is penciled in for like thirty six hundred passing yards as is over under, and I'm like, oh, boy, Like you might have to take a step back and look at things objectively, but I look at that receiving group and it's gonna throw the balls. That's the question. You can like DK Metcalf,
but A's a rookie. He's realistic, Realistically, best case I don't even like him, to be honest, No, I actually hate him. But best case scenario, what do you do to you? Uh not not personally. I'm sure he's a really, really nice guy. Plus if he hears that, he honestly might snap you in half. Yeah, he might snap both
of us. He'd take the Baja boys out, no questions asked. Um. But I mean he's not gonna get more than seventy targets maybe if that right, And then you look at it's just guys that have been in the NFL and haven't proven anything or other like later round rookie picks, it's locked it there and Russell wilson't at the end of the day, is one of the most efficient quarterbacks
in the NFL. So give me a hundred targets from Tyler Lockett, a hundred fifteen targets as you might have projected for Tyler Lockett over any of those mid round guys because he is an explosive playmaker. He will hit those deep threats even from the slot, but he will also now get volume from the slot, So I think he's gonna be seeing eight nine targets a game. And shout out to Evan Silva and Adam Levitan. They do a great job. They just start up to Establish the
Run podcast. I was listening to it on my way in today and they made a really good point. The Seattle Seahawks defense is not going to be nearly as good as it has been in years past. You know, Jarren Reid has a six game suspension. Now they don't have Frank Clark anymore, so the defense isn't gonna be as good. Are they gonna be in the same position to run as much as they want to in years past, the defense isn't as good. They might be in some
more shootouts, so I'll take that into consideration. I might have to like re rank and move Russell Wilson around a little bit because I thought that was a really good point y. I'll throw this one year way. I know someone that you've been talking up no e Y here, all right, so we'll we'll wait to get you buy back. Let me know in my ear when we when we do have him back, or whether or not he's just like gone for the rest of the show. But I know that someone that e Y was on was David Moore.
He's actually pretty excited about him playing the outside. We saw David Moore pop off a little bit last year. I would lean towards him having more of a role than DK Metcalf. And I know, you know, people might go up in arms again. DK Metcalf might might snap the Baja boys in half here. But as Jack is, DK metcalf is, he doesn't have any body fat, that's perfectly fine. You watch this guy run routes. He can
get down the field, There's no doubt about it. I saw a route that he ran during O t A S where it was a comeback route, so many steps to try and come back. I said, dude, this guy is almost built like a tight end and he's gonna be playing wide receiver. Like everything that you've heard about his ability to move laterally is absolutely true. And I still think that he's really raw as a wide receiver. Now.
Is he a freak athlete, no doubt about it. Is there a chance that he can develop his route running for sure? Is it gonna happen in year one? I'm skeptical. I A lot of people are talking about him for Best Ball and stuff. I'm I'm staying away like in Dynasty. I get it, like there might be upside down the line. But if you're expecting anything out of him year one, year two, I don't think it's gonna happen. And you could save this and if I'm wrong, you can make
me eat my words later on. It's perfectly fine. But I am very skeptical of dk Metcalf this year. So really, the only downside of tire locket, I would say, is he's been kind of injury prone in the past a couple of years. Yeah, I guess that's kind of like recent bias because we're coming off of last year where he played so well. Yeah, yeah, I mean behind him, though I want nothing to do with that passing game. I will say I take DK Metcalf over David Moore
straight up, but I'm not touching either. Then, before you know, very late in drafts, I think David Moore. I mean I like the talent, and I understand why there's a little bit of HiPE behind him. But if we're really expecting Russell Wilson to throw for thirty six hundred yards, how many wide receivers are really gonna eat in that offense? I mean, they said they have the same offensive coordinator,
They're they're gonna do the same thing. They're gonna run the ball and run the ball and run the ball. If anything, there could be just one wide receiver that eats, and it's going to be Tyle Lockett. So I'm right there with you. I like him the most out of that tier. Do you agree with that you have him higher than like the Calvin Ridley's Mike Williams of the world. Yeah, I uh, lock It would be a top that list
for me too. All Right, we only have two minutes left, so we're not gonna have time to really hit on these guys as much as we wanted to do, but I'll just throw them your way. It's Kicky q T obviously a lot to like with the Houston Texans offense. I think you just want to get as much exposure to this offense as you possibly can. We saw it in the playoff game last year, like he has the
Shawn Watson's trust. He had a monster playoff game. And if anything happens to Will Fuller or DeAndre Hopkins throughout the course of the season, probably not Hopkins, he's an iron man, but if anything happens to Will Fuller, which is definitely possible, Kiki qt s upside is like top twenty four, maybe top twenty wide receiver. So I love that call on Kiki as well, Dak. I understand it. He's finished as a top twelve quarterback each season he's been in the league. That is dependent on the six
rushing touchdowns. How fluky are those rushing touchdowns? Like, I think they have a package for him in the reson that they like to use. He's done in three years. He's done it three years in a row. So it's basically a trend at this point. But if any of those rushing touchdowns come back. Like, I do have some pause when it comes to Dak Prescott, but I see why people like him. Yeah, I mean the rushing touchdowns. I would never look at his stats and be like,
this is the reason why I'm drafting dec. I look at that offense and I think that with after Mark Cooper came on, I think most people probably heard the splits once in Mark Cooper came to Dallas. They were throwing the ball. It went from over the first half of the season, Mark Cooper comes, that's up to percent and that over the long run is gonna end up being, you know, an extra fifties seventy five pass attempts for DAC.
He was on fire. He set like his career highs and yardage twice over the second half of the season. Big games came from him, and those splits were like, really, really good. He's finished as a top twelve fantasy quarterback all three years that he's been on the team. Um so, I mean that looks like his floor and this is gonna be a good offense with their offensive line back
to full strength. Hick q C. I'm excited to talk to the doctor because Will Fuller towards a c L like later on in the season, and we know time tables for a c L returns. People want to say that he's a percent, but we have beat reporters out here just reporting whatever they want. They don't have any science to back it up. So I'm I'm more nervous about Will Fuller not actually being right and Keiki being the real wide receiver tow in Houston. That's Nicker Kalano.

you guess dude, Fantasy Sports Network. You'll find us there. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening. Welcome back to the BFS. I am Frank Standfeld. No Greg Susman on the day on the show today. If I could speak, that would be nice. Try to do this for a living. Greg Sussman is not here. He's celebrating another bachelor party. I mean, busiest man in the world, Greg Susman, real quick, for we uh, we get into Virginia's kice here of inside injuries. I believe she is here. Virginia, are you here?
We'll find out after that she is here, but we will get to Virginia after this, real quick, Nick, Dave Matthews Band or Metallica, you had to listen to one. If you don't listen to either perfectly, I'm probably gonna fade both of them. Neither of them really get Neither of them sink my submarine. Man, it's not my type of music. You should have let me choose the music for commercial breaks prior to this. Man. All right, so I am on the side of the bahamns here. It's
on the Fantasy Sports Network. It's Nick Big Dog's Gotta Eat. I have seen Metallica like seven times live in concert, but I listened everything, so it doesn't really matter. Greg loves Dave Matthews Band. I rag on them all the time. Admittedly not a big Dave Matthews band guy. How about you, Virginia, are you a Metallica or Dave Matthews Band, if you had to listen to one of them, I go with Dave Matthews if I had to choose one the people that I'm surrounded by right now, this is not working
out very well. Nick is fading both. Virginia is listening to Dave Matthews Band. All right, I'll have to make do with with what we've got going on. Virginia, how is everything going? How are you doing today? Very well? It's good to hear. We obviously you have a lot of fantasy football injuries that we want to ask you about. But first and foremost, Greg through a baseball player on here, because Greg selfishly likes to throw players on here that
affect our teams or fantasy teams. You would like me to ask you about Luke Void. Luke Void, who's going to be out for the next six weeks for the New York Yankees, maybe even longer, depending on what you guys have a regarding um, you know, his uh, his timetable. What do you have on Luke Void? Is is he gonna be ready to go for let's say the baseball playoffs? Yeah?
So he landed on the aisle with sports hernia. UM. Last I heard they weren't sure if he was going to have surgery, but this is one of those situations where surgery is very likely. UM. Once he has surgery, the recovery time is around six weeks, which is in line with what they're reporting. So I do think it's realistic for him to return, probably UM late September. UM. Of course, he's a high injury risk right now. He should not play anytime in the next few weeks, even
if he doesn't have surgery. I also add he had an abdominal strain early year in July, and UM, this is this injury is very closely related to that. It also sounds like this may have started even over a month ago and just continue to get worse and worse. UM. And if that's the case here, then surgery definitely is the route to go. Get him healthy, get him ready to go for the playoffs. So there you go. That's what we have on Luke Boyd. Hopefully he's good to
go for for the playoffs for the Yankees. For all of our Yankee fans in the chat, for any of our fantasy baseball fans still in the chat, I will now save you Nick because I assume that you don't play fantasy baseball or care about it at all. Yeah, you'all are talking another language to another language. If you had asked me what sport he played, I wouldn't have been able to answer it. Uh So you're not a
you're not a Yankee fan either. Uh No. You know what, most of my close friends or Yankees fans and Giants fans shout out snacks and they're really annoying. So that made me not want to be a New York fan anymore. All right, so you can leave the studio now. Now I want to ask let's move into the football injuries. Now, we were talking about this in the first hour Virginia. Very interesting with what's going on with Andrew Luck right
now in the Indianapolis cold. He's been nursing this calf injury, but he's been kind of nursing it since like O t a S for a couple of months. Now there might be something more severe than they're letting on. What do you guys have regarding Andrew Luck and do we think he's gonna be ready to go for the regular season? Is this something that we have to worry about potentially him re injuring once the season starts. What do you
have on Andrew Luck. Yeah, Unfortunately, there's a very high possibility that he reinjures his calf if he doesn't take the time now to get it healed. Um. The good news is he's he's saying all the right things. It sounds like he's learned his lesson from, you know, coming back from that shoulder surgery where he ended up missing an entire season and kept having other problems like with his biceps. Um. You know, so he is taking it slow.
It sounds like. Um. What also concerns me here though, is it sounds like it's more than just his calf. It also sounds like there's paying around his ankle, which, of course they're very closely related. Um. The calf stream likely led to this ankle problem as well. Um, but there's two things going on here. We're showing that he needs at least four weeks right now starting at this point because it sounds like he aggravated it. So he
really should not see any time in the preseason. Um. If he doesn't get back on the field in the next few weeks and really starts to test it out, I would not be shocked if he misses the first few weeks of the season. Um, but I'm really hoping that the Colts don't get impatient and they keep giving him plenty of time to rest and they don't turn back out there before his calf is fully recovered. This
is very scary. Yeah, this is horrifying. Before you actually came on, you know, I was talking up Marlon Mack and he's one of my favorite players to draft this year. But I wanted to preface with the fact that this Andrew luck calf thing is scaring me because it's been so long. There's obviously something more serious going on with it. So you didn't exactly put me at ease, but I know you're just doing your job, so no hard feelings are Virginia, by the way, I'm nice to virtually meet
you as well. I want to jump into a running back that, um, some people are very high on. I'm not particularly high on him, but I'm starting to like a little bit more and more as Derrick Henry he up in a walking boot after practice one I think last week or something, we learned that it's a strained
calf muscle. With the strain calf muscle, I From what I understand, it's it's similar to a hamstring and that you need to let it rest for a couple of weeks, right, And some players try to jump back in and do so too early and they either have some kind of compensation injury or they re injure it. With Derrick Henry, like, I kind of look at it as Jerrick McKinnon last year, someone I was really high on. He suffered a calf strain. I think it was early August and came back to
early ended up tearing his c CL. I don't know if the two were related um at all. But what is your concern when it comes to Derrick Henry's calf strain? Yeah, definitely concerned here. Like he said, calf injuries probably more than any other lower body muscular strain, They just linger. They're so slow to recover. Even the ones that are supposedly very mild end up taking weeks and weeks until
a player starts to feel better. Um. On top of that, he was also seen in a walking boot for a few days, so that kind of tells me that this isn't just you know, a little bit of tightness in his calf. There's definitely a string. Here, we're showing up
grade one to two injury right now. Um, the minimum optimal recovery time for this is three weeks for Henry, So that means we really shouldn't see him back on the field until you know, mid to late August, UM, and before then, you know, it's really important that he tested out very slowly to start with, jogging, no cutting, no jumping, because any of those explosive movements, UM, pushing off the line, accelerating, sprinting at full speed, that puts
a lot of stress on the calf. So that's one of the reasons it's so tough for football players to fully recover because literally any movement on the football field put stress on the calf. UM. And also, like you said, there's a lot of compensatory injuries that take place when a player is returning from the calf, whether it be an achilles injury, a hamstring injury, a knee injury, UM, ankle. There's just so many things that can go wrong if the calf doesn't fully heal, So they need to make
sure they don't rush him back. UM, even if it means he's not to start the season and he has to sit a few games. It's worth it to get him healthy for the rest of the season. And I thought that's a great point that Virginia made here regarding the calf. I mean, we just saw this if you were watching the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant comes back too early from the calf injury, ends up tearing his achilles. Obviously, we don't wish that to happen to Derrick Henry, but
it sounds like they're taking the cautious approach. Everything that we've read so far was, you know, he didn't necessarily even need the walking boot, but they put him in that because they're trying to be cautious with him. I would imagine, you know, like that timetable you mentioned Virginia that he's probably out for the next two or three weeks. Maybe we see him in like one or two preseason games. Honestly, we probably don't even need to see him in the preseason.
He's been around for a while. You know what this has done, at least for me, is it kind of ruins the draft value of Dean Lewis because that's someone that I was grabbing everywhere in Best Ball because you're getting in basically for free. And yeah, I'm starting to see his a DP climb up a little bit. But even with Derrick Henry healthier not I still think that Dean Lewis is a really good value where he's going
right now. Hopefully Derrick Henry can get right soon. Another running back going in the early rounds that is dealing with an injury. It's Damie and Williams, and he's already a very polarizing player because look, he's he is a running back in the league's best offense. There's no need to overthink this. But he's never really had a full workload at the NFL level and he's already now dealing with his hamstring injury. Virginia, I might be wrong about this,
but I'll just kind of throw it out there. You mentioned that for a running back, and specifically any skill position player at the NFL level, when you're trying to explode a lot of the times you're using your calf and your hamstring to help you do that. I would imagine seeing this now regarding both Derrick Henry and Damian Williams.
While they're different injuries, they're kind of similar in that you need your hamstring and your calf to be good to go in order to have that explosiveness on the field. So what do you guys have on Damian Williams. What's the latest and will he be good to go buy seasons start. Yeah. So very similar to calf these lower body muscler strains. UM, we see them happen all the time in the preseason just because players aren't used to
going full speed. No matter what you do in the off season, no matter how much training you do, it's not the same. It's stepping on the field, going through contact drills and really going at So these injuries are unfortunately very common. Um. Like I previously said, very very important to rest it now, let it fully heal so it doesn't become a lingering injury. UM. For Williams, we're showing a Grade one hamstring strain, which is relatively mild
and this comes with a two week optimal recovery time. UM. He was hurt on Sunday, I believe, and he hasn't returned to practice yet. UM. Again, really hoping he sits up at least through later next week and then he slowly starts to work his way back just to be sure his hamstring is going to respond well to you know,
first jogging, then running close to full speed. UM, waiting to do any cutting or really full acceleration until he's tested it out for at least a few days and make sure that when he wakes up the next day he's not feeling any additional pain that he didn't experience before. UM. So no surprise. Right now, he's a high injury risk at and his health performance back there's below average at UM.
If he does wait a full two weeks to return, I'm showing that he should get back into that elevated risk category, which is a pretty significant improvement, and his HPF would be back at above average. Virginia, we only have about a minute left in this segment. Can you stick around for the next segment as well? So we go over the rest of these players. Absolutely appreciate that I'm gonna throw this your way. Nick, just real quick, we got the break coming up. How have you been
approaching Damian Williams? Are Are you pro Damian Williams or you out? Yeah? Um? Depending on his draft price, I'm probably out in the second round because we've never seen him hold up over the course of an entire season. So I think you know you don't you don't necessarily look at a guy's injury prone like Damian Williams, but the fact that we haven't actually seen him hold up means that he very well could be. You know, we've never seen him take that type of um workload in
terms of hits on his body. So third round and pool with it because the upside is there. This hamstring injury obviously terrifies me. I drafted him in a Dyncy start up this off season, which is not you know, not not exactly not ideal. It's not ideal, not ideal. Thankfully I got him in the sixth round, so it won't kill my team, but nervous, I'm scared. It's Nick Frank Virginia will be back right after this Here on

Welcome back to the BFFs here on the Fantasy Sports Network. I am Frank Stanfeld. That is Nick Kalano. Very inappropriate song to be playing. Well, Virginia here, we're talking about this yesterday because I I quizzed my co's Craig Susman if he can name the movie that that song is from. He named the movie. It's Austin Powers. Austin Powers. Yes, it's a lot of friends are very upset with robots. The female robots start going crazy because Austin Powers is
just too damn sexy. Scene. That is a great scene. We are here with Virginia zakas of Inside Injuries. Make sure you follow them on Twitter as well. For me, I have my notifications turned on. Whenever Inside Injuries tweets out anything, I get a notification to my phone so that I could be up to date with all the latest injuries that are going on throughout NFL training camp. And with that, Virginia, I need to ask you about a running back that we were talking about in our one.
It's pretty much right in the mold of all these other guys were talking about Derrick Henry, Damian Williams. You heard the diagnosis on Williams regarding his hamstring injury. How about when it comes to Aaron Jones, because he's dealt with a lot of knee injuries. I believe he's torn his m c L twice already. Could that be poying into him potentially straining his hamstring here? And because of that,
can he have a longer timetable to return? Definitely? And I'll also add that he missed around two weeks during the preseason last year with another hamstring injury. That's making this a lot more concerning, so to hamstring injuries to m c L injuries in the last two years. Um Not surprisingly, he was already an elevated injury risk. He was around eight before this hamstring injury. He's not a
high injury risk. Um. You know, they're saying it's pretty mild, which is obviously good, but that's seems to be always what coaches say. They never really say that they're not concerned unless you know someone suffers a fracture or something like that. Um. So again, he needs to really make sure that he sits out enough time. We're showing around two to three weeks for for him, um, again mainly
because he's had these other injuries before. So even though it's mild, because he's had past camstring issues, he needs to take even more time to allow it to heal. So not really a great day for players that you are targeting, Nick, if I'm being perfectly honest here, we have some concern over Aaron Tones, we have some concern over Andrew Luck and obviously that affects Marlon Mack as well.
Virginia's just doing her job, but I mean these are things to take into consideration when drafting a player as early as Aaron Jones. I mean, we have to take this guy in the third round, and we have to realize the risk that comes with that. It's exactly why I told you carry on Johnson over both of those guys. He still scares me from any concern. No one's safe out here. Nobody is safe. Alright, Alright, I got one
more question for you, Virginia. UM, and this is concerning a guy I want no part of, but hopefully maybe you can, you know, help me buy in a little bit more. This is Delaney Walker. I am not sure how oldly is at this point, but I know it's old and he's coming back from a broken ankle. When I'm targeting guys coming back from injuries, I mean, I look at like A c L S and I want them to years removed from the a c L, not
the year they're coming back from it. But when we're talking about a bone, can you kind of dive in and let me know what are the chances of re injury when it's coming from bone as compared to something, you know, like an A c L. And what are his uh, what is his risk coming back if we can assume that he's actually healthy and he's practicing in full for like the week the two weeks prior to
week one kicking off. Obviously doesn't have to be there for training camp in preseason games because he's Landey Walker. But um, can you talk about that and just just the bone in general being a re injury risk. Yeah, So if if this was just a fracture, um, he would have around twelve months to recover and I wouldn't be very concerned about him. But he when he was hurt,
it was a dislocation that caused a fracture and ligament damage. UM, and from what I can tell, the ligament damage was also addressed during surgery, which means there are some tearing of the ligaments in the ankle UM that makes this a lot more serious and is now it's now more in line with you know, an A C L tear where yeah, he's would be back and he should be playing this season, but there's just so many different things that could go wrong, very high injury risk, killed deal
with soreness, his strength isn't going to be what it was UM, So he's someone that I would probably try to stay away from. UM. I was actually pretty surprised when I was reviewing his injury history. He's had quite a few issues over the last few years UM, everything from his toe, hamstring, wrist, concussions. But surprisingly UM, since two thousand seven, he's played in at least fourteen games
every single season until last year, which shocked me. UM. But that could just I see that as a sign that, you know, he's kind of gotten pretty lucky with a lot of injuries in his past, and UM last year's injury is just sort of the beginning of a bit of a downfall. For him. Hope I'm wrong here, but his injury risk is is still high. It's thirty right now. Um. One other thing to note that was HPF is above average,
which is seventy seven percent. So that's telling me if he doesn't suffer any sort of setbacks or anything at training camp, um, and doesn't suffer any new injuries, he should go out there and be able to play pretty well. Um, he's not peaked like he was before he got hurt last year, but you know he's good enough to get out on the field and perform. Okay, Um, it's just I don't trust that he's going to be able to
stay out there for most of the season. Delaney Walker an interesting late round tight end target, especially if you're playing best ball, is like your second tight end on your team. But overall a lot of things just going wrong for the Tennessee Titans right now. First it was Taylor Ljuan, then it was Derrick Henry, so you know, we'll see. Well, these are things to monitor throughout training camp, throughout the preseason, but hopefully Delaney Walker is good to go.
Nick I would like to consider myself a professional broadcaster. Probably not really, but what I did today regarding the injuries, I buried the lead. We're almost twenty minute, twenty minutes in here talking to Virginia. We haven't even asked her about a J. Green. So that's obviously that was the biggest news coming out over the weekend, and we haven't
talked to you since then, Virginia. I feel like we might have talked about a J. Green already, like a couple of weeks back to regarding his toe and whether or not he was completely healed from that, and then of course everything else happens regarding a J. Green, And it came out today that are in the past couple of days that Zach Taylor, their head coach, does expect a J. Green to miss multiple games. So I mean, what do you have regarding a J. Green? Like what
is his healthy to return date? Like how worried should we be he's falling down draft boards, but is he even going to be worth taking later on if he's going to just reinjure himself. What do you have on a J. Green? Virginia? Yeah, I would not touch a J. Green this year unfortunately, um, you know, last season ended with torn ligaments in his toe because unfortunately he returned too soon from another toe injury. UM. That was supposed to come with a roughly three to four month recovery.
We said it was going to be a little longer. Um. I think he did too much early on, you know, the first day of practice, and now here we are he's had surgery on his the ankle to his opposite side. UM. Yeah, it's a different body part, different side, but definitely related. Um. When a guy is coming back from such a serious surgery, their body, just like I said before, it's just not ready to go. Their strength isn't what it used to be. Um. There's probably some other factors in play here. I know
there was talk about the field they were playing on. Um. You know, that of course could have been a factor. But I think it was only a matter of time before Green got hurt. We're showing here a roughly ten week optimal recovery time, which means he really shouldn't return until mid October. Um. They've given him a six to eight week recovery, and they said his surgery was minor. But when there's ligament damage to the ankle, there's really
no such thing as a minor surgery. They were just cleaning it out or there was a bonespur or something. Sure that could be minor, but we know in this case there's ligament damage because he had that m R I, So it should definitely be longer than six weeks. And you know, when guys have these ankle injuries and these two injuries, they really are highly, highly recurrent injuries. So I'm sure he's going to have problems later in the year. His injury risk is it's seventy six percent right now,
which is one of the highest I've seen. So I would stay away from Green no matter what. Yeah, I was so far off of Green for you know, all the reasons that you mentioned, even before this stuff started popping up in the new foot injury whatnot. I think he needs to be completely off your draft board. I would. I would bet a lot of money. I bet the mortgage that he ends up on the publist as soon as uh they as soon as the Bengals came out and said he's gonna miss at least a couple of
regular season games. In my head, I was immediately like four to six weeks easily. I don't think he's back until week six. Just throw him on the publist. I think they're just trying to downplay it for now. I would put a lot of money that ends up on the publist, so I think that will save a lot of drafters. But if I'm drafting, I'm I'm with you. I don't even think it's worth like a late round pick on that guy because he's gonna be sitting on
your bench for a long time. I actually, coming off a serious injury like this, it's almost as if you know, he doesn't have the upside that he had anyways, he might be like a wide receiver three flex and are you really going to hold on to a guy that's not gonna give you great production towards the end of the year. Anyways, It's it's a really really long stretch for him to be out to be worth any sort
of like reasonable draft capital and fantasy. One guy that I've been, you know, getting higher and higher on throughout this offseason is Calvin Riley the Falcons. I'm a Falcons fan. I don't necessarily like the hiring of Dirt Cutter, but we know they're going to be very, very very past heavy, probably between like sixty five and seventy of their offensive plays, which is great for Julio great for Calvin Ridley. We saw him blow up his rookie season, even with Julio
leading the league in targets and whatnot. But now he goes and pulls the hamstring and I believe he's been out of practice for a week or so. My concern with Ridley is he tried to get back into like practice immediately he pulls the hamstring and beat reporters like he tried to get back on the field for the
next few plays. So for me, it seems like this young second year wide receiver who's um really excited to get back on the field, and that tells me that his mindset is going to be like I want to get back on the field for practice in a week, in two weeks, and that's probably not long enough for him to rest. So what are your feelings on Calvin Ridley and the hamstring. I know you've went over hamstrings for a while, but um, I'm interested if maybe this, uh,
there's a different take with Calvin Ridley. Yeah, so exactly what you're saying. Also happened last year when he had a bone bruise to his ankle. He didn't miss any games, but he was playing when he shouldn't have UM, and it definitely showed UM. He also played with some with hand, elbow, and quad injuries last year, so he's one of those guys that I think he just wants to play no matter what. But it's just not smart, especially this early
in the preseason, especially with a hamstring injury. I kind of can't believe. I saw the play where he got hurt and then they let him go right back out there. I could not believe that the medical staff let him back out on the field that same day, UM, because it's just not worth the risk. UM. From what I can tell, he's been working with the rehab group, which tells me he's made a little bit of progress over the last week. UM. I actually think it's good news
that he hasn't been fully cleared to practice yet. There's just no reason for him to be playing right now and to be pushing it. UM. This injury, if mild, comes with a two week optimal recovery time, So given another week and he should be able to get back out there right now. He's a high injury risk at is the cut off for elevated UM. If he does wait the full two weeks to return, I think he'll get in that elevated risk category, which will be a
significant improvement for him. Yeah. I think this is all on the team. When it comes to the Atlanta Falcons, they just have to protect Calvin Ridley from himself. I know he's a young player, he's hungry, he wants to get out there, but they need to sit him down and make sure that he's on before he returns so that he doesn't risk that re injury. We're all crossing our fingers hoping that Calvin Ridley is good to go for the regular season because obviously he does have immense upside.
Somebody else who has emens upside. Tyreek Hill finished as the wide receiver one last season, and he actually is suffering from an injury completely different than anything we've talked about. Yet. He's dealing with a bruised quad, I would imagine, and this is me taking a guess that this isn't as severe as the hamstring or calf. But what says you, Virginia when it comes to the bruise quad of Tyreek Hill? Yep,
definitely doesn't seem as serious. Um, but we are showing that this is a Grade one injury, not a soft tissue injury. UM. If it was just a bruise, that would be soft tissue fine in less than a week. UM. This is a quad continu usion, which that likely means the bruise is a little bit deeper, affecting the muscle a little bit. UM, not as severe as a strain or anything, but you know, it can still affect a player UM and can cause them to suffer another injury.
I think um O b J last year had something sort of similar, not exactly the same, but UM, you know. So in this case, we're showing a two week optimal recovery time. I think he will return sooner than that, but this is something to watch over the next few weeks. UM, he'll likely be dealing with some soreness UM and some tightness. If the tightness gets too severe, that's what can lead to a more serious strain. So it's important to make
sure that he stays loose. UM. If if he ever feels any pain, UM, make sure he shuts things down for the day. UM. And it'll be important to focus on his rehab over the next few weeks so that this doesn't become something more serious. That is Virginia Zakus of Inside Injuries. I know you have a huge following on YouTube as well. It's a pleasure to have you in studio, buddy. I'm excited to be here. Man. Anytime I can get out of my apartment and get into a studio that has air conditioning, I'm all about it. This New York
summers is no joke, man. We barely have air conditioning, so you're giving us a little bit too much credit here and of course in Nashville, Tennessee. We'll talk about Nahville little bit because I know you went there recently for the NFL Draft. It's her buddy, Eric Young, e y. What's going on? Boys? Always good to be here. UM happy that we're up and running better late than never.
That is uh something that they say. I don't know who they are and I don't trust them, but yeah, and also on top of that, air conditioning is good and I started following, Uh A, man, they're just a few minutes ago, so we're we're good to go. Yeah, this is an opportunity for for you guys to virtually meet So Nick, meet e y, e y meet Nick. This is a virtual handsheek? Is that cool? If I call you e y? Can we start off with like the abbreviations right off the bat? Yeah, everyone calls me
that Eric Young is what it stands for. But almost no one calls me Eric. Almost everyone calls me e y. So yeah, that's a that's convenient. You call me whatever you want. I answered to a bunch of different things. I think I'm gonna go with Eric. Then what do you prefer to you? Why do you want e y do you want Eric Yeah? I mean e wise Fine, it's easier to say, um, long story short, Eric Young
is uh my chosen profession name. I have a different real name name and Uh I decided when I was seventeen, because no one likes their real name when they're seventeen, and Eric Young could be the worst fake name of all time. You chose one real name for another, I guess fake generic real name. So Eric Young, that's what we'll go with for now. We'll talk about it tomorrow with all that, But we won't do that today. Not No, not today, because we've already wasted enough time. We started late.
As I mentioned what we want to do today, I brought Nick in studio, not only because Greg Susman is not around. I've been wanting to get him in studio for a while now. Actually, we want to talk about players who he is mostly in on this year, players that he has multiple shares of. I'm gonna do what I do best, I'm gonna play a little Devil's advocates,
So we'll talk about the upside of these players. Will also talk about the downside of players, because I don't know that people talk about the downside enough we kind of sprinkle it in, but I think that this is something that we also have to talk about. Not everyone says upside. We have to talk about the downside of these players as well. We'll do that for the rest of this first hour. Be sure to follow all our social media at V and t s Y Sportsnet and
at EV and T s Y Radio. And now I'm tweeting about you, Bra
