Our two Frank Standfeld with the closer Chris Ventra. We'll take you up to two pm Eastern Time when you'll hear full time Fantasy Adam Ronus and the Doctor Dr Rhodo. For now, we've got a lot more to talk about from yesterday's acts. I want to continue in this game venture the Angels and the Oakland A's Mike Trout was not in the lineup, dealing with
a sore foot. Spoke about this yesterday with Greg. It seems like there's always something going on with Mike Trout. I mean, the guy plays extremely hard to understand. That, but I would almost want him to tone it down a little bit. Mom, Mike Trout, we need you for the long haul. We'll get an update from Dr A in just about you know, fifteen sixteen, seventeen minutes from now, we'll hear from Dr A about Mike Trout and what's
going on there. Yesterday I also said Matt Olsen was going to come around, and that he is in the seventh home run of the season yesterday and to run scored to your eyes, great great game from Madame. If you could still, I feel like the window is being closed very rapidly by now. The window to buy Matt Olson is being closed very rapidly. You gotta get in neat more this guy. I mean, he's gonna go on
its hair. He's gonna it's gonna be one of these weeks where the guy hits like six homers in a week and you're not gonna want to miss out on it. So if you can get matt Olsen right now, I would try my best to do that Handsel robe less Ventura. We had a Handsel robeless sighting yesterday. One of those Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. The guy blew us saved. He gave up a home run. You cannot make this stuff up. Ventra a hotshot to center field off the
bat of Mark Hanna. He goes like this, it's center fielder. Hey, well, you know what he would have to do to catch it? Venture You would have to be sitting in the stands. You need a jet pack of something. Because Handsel robeless gives up a homer proceeds to blow be saved, and it's telling his center fielder, hey, catch that, even though it was a home run, you can't make it handsome. Did they show his face after, like like after he
just they might have. I mean I only I watched the clip of it a highlight on my phone one because once I saw that he gave up a home run, like all right, the first thing I do I go to my MLB at bat app I said, look, I gotta see if he does the point really do the point again? And he didn't. He did it again. I mean, Hansel Roles and he's been pretty good. He's been pretty good in the closer's role. But now the e r a up to uh four point to six. I don't think that his job is in jeopardy here, but pay
attention to Ty Butchery, I mean Butchery. I think they liked him in his role, so I don't think that they're gonna move him out of it. He's got one point to seventy year. He has been awesome as that you know, multi ending reliever, put out the fires kind of guy. I think the name to watch is Camber Drosan. Actually he does have closing experience. They they've used him in like the opening role this year as well, but he has closing experience. Um doesn't have Mike Sosha who
used to love the guy before. But that's the name I would pay attention to Camber Drosan, And obviously Cody Allen is still on the roster. But yeah, yeah, he's he's really paying attention to anything there. Hell, at this point, he's gotta be what thirty two or something like that, Ody Allen maybe thirty, I don't know, he's something around there. I feel like he's kind of he's kind of thirty is right. Yeah, I'd say something like that. Um, but I mean, there wasn't a lot of people that were
excited about him coming into the year. He had the closer's role. But I mean you saw it the numbers of the past couple of years. They were trending downwards. And you watched him pitch basketball, curveball guy, but his fastball. Like, I think people bought because you have enough stuff, man, That's what it comes down to. Yeah, I think we were bought into because he's, you know, a cheap closer
that has experience and could get a streak saves for you. Now, Handel rob is though, like, who's owning this guy at this point? Actually I owned him in one of my head to head twelve team points leagues. You just believe that he had Cody Allen to start the year as my second closer. I got him, you know, one of my last round picks in the draft. He was a disaster.
Guess who I dropped him for. Pedro Strope, who blew a safe against the Marlins, didn't even get a single out, and then he went on the I l He finished the week giving me like negative twelve points. Yeah, I think he got sat down. I think I lost. I lost because of him. Actually, never forgive you for that, pedro Strope. So I've been trying to like I had Michael Gibbons thick God, I didn't have in my line up last week? Oh my god, what would do if I had Michael Gibbons in my lineup? So now I
I find myself landing with Hansel Robosts. He's really playing the closer carousel here. There's really nothing out there. I could pick up Sergio Romo, but it's like he did get his eleven saved yesterday. I know, but when is that going to run out? You don't want to pick him up, and then you know that clock runs out too. I think you're you know, he's someone that you know, people are actually as a second maybe third closer in the rodal leagues. He's getting the opportunities, but I don't
think the leash is very long at this point. I think I'm probably not in danger for now, but it is something we're paying attention to. I think Cambodrosan might be in the mix if anything were to happen. Which let's move over to Texas and Seattle. Lots of runs scored in this game as well, fifteen runs combined, and uh, you know you want to talk about messy Bullpens. Gosh man, the Seattle Mariners. It's been you know, one of the most confusing you know, you think the closer is rowing
us a lion. You thought it was Swarzak. He gets traded. They're using Royani's Elias in the middle endings of relief out of nowhere at times. Yesterday, he comes in in the eighth inning with a seven to six lead, proceeds to blow the game. They tie it seven to seven, and then Anthony Bass comes in and then he blew it in the ninth and they end up losing eight to seven and Shawn Kelly locks down another save for the Texas Rangers. So lots of moving parts with bullpens.
I mean, that's the way of the world, the way of the world when it comes to fantasy baseball. I mean, this is not a shocker. But in Seattle, you know they traded away Anthony Szak. That was the best guy in the pen, really that you would want. I feel like this is coming back soon. So that's someone that's
interesting to ye. If you play in a fifteen team league, you know I would I would start stashing him now, actually, because if you wait, you're gonna have to spend a lot of fab when he's actually back on the roster. He was the closer. They wanted him to be the closure of this team. He's coming back from this issue. He was on the sixty day I l but he's someone that I would stash now maybe, I mean, maybe
that's the guy I gotta look. I think so, And at least because I don't see anybody else here that could really get the job done it consistently. I mean, eliots got blown up yesterday. You know, there's nobody else really here that has the experience and could do it on a consistent basis. So I would. I would take a chance on stricklin in you know, if your need of a closer and desperate need of a closer. I mentioned that Sean Kelly came in for the save and
he was successful. And you know people might have been asking, you know, well, when is jose L Clark gonna get an opportunity to close? I don't think you will. Well, it wasn't yesterday because he was starting the game. He was the opener, and he'd been using him like that past couple of times through the rotation. Maybe he's not gonna get the closer roll back Venturan. Yeah, and they're using him as an opener right now. Yeah, I don't think they. I don't think that's gonna happen. I think
they like what he's doing as that opener. Um, he's been getting their job done, I guess there. And you know Kelly's been getting their job done as the closer, So why change that right now? It's not like la Clark has this, you know, huge pedigree of being a great closer. There's no reason to do it. Um. And you know Texas has this issue where they need to throw him in there as the openers. Sometimes it didn't work yesterday because Smiley came in and gave up seven
or runs. They got blown up completely. But there's so many openers now, like every game, every other game I'm looking at, there's an opener starting somewhere. Angels have been using Bedrosian as well as an opener. It's it's becoming Bay obviously. Yankees, where you've been using Green, Well that's just because they have injuries, don't really have enough and they don't really have a choice. You just don't have enough body. So John Kelly converts his six save for
now he is the Rangers closer. And you know we've said, all right, well when the Rangers fall out of it, well they haven't yet. I mean they're a game over five hundred, so I mean if they stick around five hundred, they're lurking. I mean they don't trade away as Shawn Kelly. So it's something worth paying attended to and something else worth paying attended to. Leading off for the Seattle Mariners
yesterday was my guy, Malex Smith. Two hits, two ribbies, a walk, a run scored, and his thirteen stolen base of the season. Get greggy if you're out there listening, what's his batting average up to now? But we're not gonna talk about but Alex Smith. Baby, he's getting hot. He's getting hot. He's the week he's getting hot. You need stolen bases. Make sure you add him. And I just dropped him in the pit leag like a week or two ago. It's funny, that's the funny thing I got.
Brian Reynolds. I'm okay with it. Oh, your guy, Brian Reynolds with the stolen basis, I mean that was so valuable with the stone basis basis in one game the other day. You just told his thirteen base last night. That's why I told you can't. It's it's been frustrating. He's had bad bad luck is bad is extremely low. There's a fast guy. The batting average is gonna come around. He's seven first lesson. Somebody was dropped. Someone dropped him. Don't be like greg or Ventra. Hick him up. Get
Malex Smith on your team venture. The Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox. Three combined runs in this game yesterday, thirty two hits between the Indians and the Boston Red stock Red Sox. Can we get more in Webber please or Weeber whatever his name is, because I would like to start my hitters against him at all times times. Shane Bieber, I mean, this is about as as baseball as baseball gets. The guy gives up six earned runs.
Its ain actually uh in the one league where I own him, my home league, head to head points league. I didn't start him because it was against Boston. He's struggled at times giving up home runs this year, and that's exactly what he did last night, to give up three home runs, six earned runs combined or five innings pitch. But I was I was a little bit scared about Shane Bieber, so I didn't have him in the line
of venture. Yeah, I understand that if you have someone with a much better, you know, much better option out there. I would do that, but I had b berin in one of my lineups. A team I'm six and two in. Uh, you know, I have Carrasco. I don't have a deep rotation. That's the problem. So I can't tend to keep my guys in there. I figured, you know, at the very least, he won't. You know, maybe he'll give me ten points against Boston. Maybe I get lucky and he and he
gets a quality start. He got the win, so he ended up with UM eleven point one yesterday. I'll take it, you know what I mean. I know it's not two starts, but I didn't really have much out My other option was Paddock. So it was a better stunt than Paddock overall because of the wind. Because of the wind. Because of the wind. So I'm okay, let's listen, it's Boston. Like he's gonna get blown up. We know about Bieber, we know he's been doing this kind of thing all year,
but he's he's a solid picture. There's no time he's going to be in your lineup. The only reason I benched him was because he was going up against Boston in Boston, you know, most of the time, he's he's a guy that I'm gonna trust as you know, my SP three, maybe my SP four, But he's a guy that normally I want to trust and get in my lineup. But it was his match up against Boston. I didn't want to mess Hi out with this, and ultimately it
ended up working out. Ventra. Five of the fourteen runs that were scored by the Indians yesterday were driven in by Carlo Santana. This guy's hot again, man, I mean, he's been really streaky, got off to a really good start this year and he cooled off. Now he's hot again. Three for four yesterday or runs, scored a home run, his tenth of the season, five ribbies, two walks, Mr reliable. Who is who is this carl Santana? And what do
he what do he do with? That's the crazy Like THEO four average is kind of shocking because last year he hit nine. He's a career hit eight four, So I expect that this year. Yeah, I expect that kind of to regress a little bit as the season goes on slowly. But the guy such a reliable, consistent hitter in terms of what you know you're gonna get from him every year. Uh, you know, he gives you that power. He walks walk Yeah, two eighty four batting average right now. Massive.
It's crazy too, because like I feel like he hasn't really hit a ton of ton of homer's over his career to really be like a guy that walks a hundred times. But he walks dred times. He has such a good eye. Even though he hit two thirty eight, has one over. So he came back in two thousand sixteen when he hit thirties. You know, looking at his bad ball data, forty nine hard hit, right, I mean that's by far a career high. You guys hitting the
ball really hard, hitting more groundballs this year. But it's actually working out for him groundball rate, fly ball. Normally, I would want, all right, well, come on, let's hit more fly balls here, Carl Santana. What it's working for him. So if it's working for Carl Santana, it's working for me. I don't want him to change anything because he's doing the best he's ever home runs. He's on pace for thirty I don't even need thirty home runs. Give me
twenty five homers. You know the county stature there, thirty three runs, thirty four and seventy two seventy with a good O b P home runs. That's fine, you're getting more than you bogging four. Really don't change the thing. Carl Santana, you know, listen, he's a model of like an iron man, you know, consistent guy that you know, basically playing every single day, uh and getting a dump you uh. The other two guys though, in that game, Lindor Mercado, Okay, this is re hits each. I was
saying yesterday, the Indians are about to break out. I don't know if it's gonna be this soon, even though you saw it yesterday against the Red Sox. Granted it was getting against Webber, but I think they're gonna start breaking out as the season goes along more and more. Once you see Ramirez starting to get hot now two for five yesterday with two r b I s and two run scored. You know Macado, this guy, you know, they bring him up. He's ripping absolutely, sitting three thirty
three right now, two run scored. And then you got Lindor who's really starting to come on here. He's getting like multiple hits every game. He's been like in the last five games, three for six, two run scored in ALBII. These these two guys at the top. If Ra Mirrors starts getting hot, you got Santan in the middle there,
it's not that bad of a line up. As we said at the beginning of the beginning of season, We're like, this line is terrible, yeah, because they had they had a Hanley Ramrrors, they had all these retreads in their lineup. But and they're about to get Bradley Zimmer back too, So we'll see what happens there. Greg Allen Worth, noting that he started in left field in this game, went two for four hit two triples, actually two two triples
for Greg Allen we know that he's a really fast guy. Um, see what happens there if he if he continues to stay in the lineup. They had Jake Bowers at designated hitter yesterday and jose Ra mirr Is obviously a big topic of conversation is Jose marr is gonna come around well?
Back to back multi hit games? Venture But if I told you that that was the first time all season he had back to back multi hit games, I believe it where it is crazy, crazy, and you know, even with the back to back multi hit games, batting two oh nine. So let's see if he can build off this. The home runs don't have to come right away. I'd rather her, Jose Ramirez, Let's get a couple of hits. Let's string together a couple of hits. Let's get that
batting average up. Let's get the confidence off, and then we'll try and stores once the weather continues to heat up. Let's get that batting average up, man, and you're a better hitter than this. This is like my my monologue to Carlo to josire mirrors. Jose, Let's get the bat on the ball. Stop trying to hit so many home runs right now. Maybe let's make contact. Hits will come, We'll get the confidence up. Then we'll start swinging for the fences. Baby, but we need to get that batting
and it's coming, we hope. I'm gonna make a prediction right now. It's Thursday. I say, by June, what is the batting average for Jose? I was gonna go even sooner, but let's say, yeah, let's say June. Let's do Juli a month, a month of action. Ue, what's the batting average. I'll say to I was gonna say, he's gonna have a pretty damn good June. Get his batting average from two, and he's gonna have a crazy streak that he boost his batting average up like most year. We know he's
capable of these crazy streaks. He was almost a thirty thirty player in the first half last year. It's unheard of. He's a great player. It's gonna happen. I said earlier on in the week. Look, if you can sell someone the way that I'm trying to sell myself right now, that Josian marriage is coming around, and you can get good value for him, and you look into trading game because I know no good friend of the program, Constantine. He told me, he said, he sent me the screenshots. Dude,
I'm trying to make trades. Nobody wants Jose Ramirez. I understand that maybe now multi hit games, you could sell them off a little bit easier. Here. I'll tell you what if I'm if you're in a league with me that I don't have h mirrors, I'm interested. You're gonna buy low right now? Yeah? Oh yeah, so we'll see. We'll see what happens. Here with Jose Ramirez venture of the Phillies eleven to four yesterday against the Cardinals Cardinals many six and twenty with the St. Louis Cardinals. You
know what, I think it starts with the with the pitching. Yeah, I think the pitching just hasn't gotten the job done this year. Hopefully Alex Rays could be a boost. But Genesis Cabrera um made a quick, a quick exodus yesterday. Dude, that's bad. In two thirds five runs scores, but three earned, two walks, five strikeouts, seven point three six e r a in his first start. You say he didn't do so bad. Three and two thirds is not good. I
like the five case only three urned runs. Yeah, I mean, listen, obviously they didn't help him, uh in the field behind them very much. But listen, it's Stanisis Cabrera. Obviously this isn't a top guy coming up. You know, who's gonna just pitch a gem out of nowhere. Um. So, you know, I kind of expect it. The Phillies lineup and the Philly is a dude to really start getting real hot here. I think we see that a little bit here. Rice Harper Dinger, Mike cal Franco Got hot, though, I mean
you don't. You don't want my two nineteen Got Kinggary, You're got Homer in McCutcheon, Homer, Let's go Philly, stay hot? Yeah, coming up neck dr a of inside injury. Fantasy Best Friends Forever Frank staf alongside the Closer Chris Ventra, Greg Sussman out on hiatus party and somewhere, probably got a fruity drink in his hand, laying on a pool float somewhere. For now, we'll bring in the Good Doctor, dr a of inside injuries. What's going on, Doc? How's everything? Good afternoon, guys. How are you guys doing today? Good Doc? How are you doing?
This is Chris Ventra, by the way, replacing Greg Sussman, replacing Gregg. We We have to bring in some of the placements here because Greg Sussman wants to go out party and but Doc, I don't know what's going on with the Houston Astros. I don't know if they caught whatever was going on with the New York Yankees, but a bunch of players are going down for the Houston Astros. Let's start with Carlos Correa, who apparently fractured his rib, getting a massage in his home and expected to be
out six to eight weeks. That's the timetable that I've seen. What are the algorithms saying about Carlos Correa. Yeah, so, um, you know you can get a uh you know, some of these massages are theory peutic and they put quite a bit of force on the rib, cage, etcetera. But this is not He must have had some sort of underlying, very subtle maybe non displaced fracture in the past. Maybe there's a little bit of weakening, etcetera. And so it's not something that's new, probably and it just got worse
over time, especially during the massage. So non displaced structure of the rib usually an optimal covery time of five weeks. Um. So we're saying July the second, especially shortstop a lot of mobility, he's going to get a lot of pain medication and pain management, etcetera. In terms of making sure that he doesn't feel this on uh um you know, uh turning a double play or you know, moving to the right side, etcetera. So, um, it's uh, probably July
the second is what we're looking at right now. The second, so right around the All Star bring. And I think you know that we heard four to six weeks at First Venture and in it they changed it to six to eight weeks. And I think those things really line up together. We're probably close to the All Star break, and it wouldn't surprise me if they just hold them out all the way through the All Star break and we get him for the second half of the season.
Frustrating if you're a care um, another astrol, A lot of astros in a roll here, doc um A. Jingston did some cargoon news with josel two days knee Uh. May eleven, he was put on the angel list with his left hamstring injury. Any news on that and what we can expect should he be back maybe in the next couple of weeks or so. Yeah, So he's got two separate injuries, you know, as you guys know, he's got the right Grade one knee injury and he's also
got a Grade one hamstring injury. You know, he injured the left hamstring on May the tenth, and he was placed on i L at that point. He started that rehab assignment on Sunday, uh you know, and you remember he played two games and then was shut down due
to the soreness and that right knee. And this is sort of like, uh, you know, the whole associated injury that happens after recovering from another injury, especially as you get old, are in professional sports, and so you know this is a Even though these are minor, lower grade type injuries, the astros have to be very, very cautious with al TV because he's now developed a compensatory injury.
And so even though the optimal recovery time for one injury is this is two weeks, but because it was because of a compensatory injury, they probably should add another week onto that two weeks. So instead of June tenth, the algorithm is saying June the seventeenth. During the seventeenth looking like a healthy to return date for jose al tuve Ventro. I wasn't on Korea or jose Al tuve rod draft season because I was worried about all of the injuries that Parrea had over the past couple of years,
with the with the oblique and the back injuries. No, not that we could have seen a fractured rib coming from me, you know, massage, if that's what happened, happened. But with the thing I mean he had off season knee surgery, I was worried about that too. I mean, you had to pay a really high price for jose Al TV, somebody who you didn't have to pay as high I have price for and was phenomenal before he got hurt. Was George Springer. Again, we have this triumvirate.
Really we have three injuries, main injuries to the core stars of the Houston Astros. Doc, what's the latest on George Springer. It's a great two hamstring, so that's concerning because it's not Grade one. Grade two is a pretty significant strain. It's not a tear, so that's good. Optomical covery of time is four weeks, and so we're looking at June one, so June the twenty one for George Springers.
So it seems like, you know, by mid June we should start to get some of these Houston Astros back and then uh, Carl's Corey a little bit later on early June, maybe around the All Star break, whatever it might be. But I say this a lot, Doc and Ventura, when it comes to star players like this, please just take your time. I you know, I know the Astros, Uh, they are trying to win it all, um, they have aspirations of going deep in the postseason, obviously, but take
your time, you know. I'd rather these guys get completely healthy and then come back um and help us for the long run in fantasy baseball venture. Yeah, you're absolutely right. Three three players that are crucial to going into the playoffs for the Astros. They if you see any of these guys come back but before June the seventeen, that
is a huge red flag. Yeah. Uh, speaking of a guy you know with star who you want to take your time when I know this might be something small and it looks like Mike Trout of the l A Angels, basically best player in baseball for many years now. Uh, he found the ball of his right foot. They say it's nothing serious. Uh, he might even be back today. So any concerns here with Trout just in case, uh foot sore neists. It's just a soft tissue bruise, not even grade one foot, so uh it's one. They're just
being extra cautious. One game sit out, I mean the optimalcovery time here says one week. I don't think he needs to sit out that much. But given you know the caliber player that he is, he'll be out for probably a game or two and then he'll be brought back. Can so nothing of too much concern. Again, not too concerning here, but you know what if you gotta take your time, you sit him out a few days, that's fine because we need Mike Trout for the long run
here in fantasy baseball. But it seems like he's always dealing like these Tiki Tach injuries the past couple of seasons, he's missed some time. It just it goes into the nature of the way he plays the game. It's just an animal. Yeah, that's just what happened. We're talking with Dr a of inside injuries and Doc move over to a picture here now. And Luke Weaver got off to
a phenomenal start this year. He was, you know, one of the late round pictures that was actually bringing back the most value so far this season in Fantasy baseball. He gets diagnosed with the dreaded strained right forearm to his pitching arm. And many times, Doc, when we see the forearm, we know that this is a precursor for you know, worst things succumb Do you think that is
the case here for Luke Weaver. So the good news is is that, um, you know, he doesn't have a long history and the string of previous injuries to that elbow or to that forum. Here's the buzzwords that you need to be concerned about. Team is hopeful that he can avoid surgery, but he is going for a second opinion. Okay, if you have to go for a second opinion, that means the team doctor and the evaluation process has given him something that is not just simple and normal and
sort of sit out. It is something that requires a second opinion. So, guys, I'm not that algorithm is not ac the exact diagnosis. However, UM, you know, just not do not be surprised if he goes for a second opinion and they decide to shut him down, um for at least six to eight weeks before they can re evaluate him. This is does this does not vode well for Luke Weaver unfortunately. UM. And you know how many times guys have we seen a forearm straining this year?
Right Like, it's probably the seventieth time we've talked about this with a starting pitcher. And if not so much that these injuries have never happened before, it's just that the sensitivity around pitching and the diagnostic capabilities, we're detecting these things and they're being reported and they're being treated earlier. So a lot of pictures in the past and the eighties and the nineties. They all suffered from this stuff,
but it just they just kept pitching through it. Basically, now they're starting to treat it at a very early a much earlier period of time. So in this particular case, when he when he was going for a second opinion to avoid surgery. Even though the optimal recovery time right now is four weeks, so June grade to four arms strain is not a tear going for a second opinion. He may be shut down for much longer than that
to avoid surgery. So just be aware it's between four and eight weeks likelihood split it down the middle at least six weeks out. Lots of moving cards right now for Luke Weaver. So pay attention to what happens with that second opinion. Yeah, I mean hearing the possibility of surgery, He's clearly going through something brasivere here mantra, and it
sucks because he was finally starting to write it together. Uh. He has the prospect pedigree, he was part of that pol Goldschmid trade, looked like he might be the frontline starter of the future the Arizona Diamondbacks and then unfortunately suffers this injury Yeah, agreed. A guy we both really liked this year. Another guy that you liked this year. A guy who's been out for a while now, he's out two months at this point, Mr ol of April
May with a lad injury. He lay to resume throwing this week, but they say won't be back probably around mid June. And the Seattle Bulpen that his hunter strictling the Seattle Mariners. Uh, you have any news on this, doctor, you think mid June sounds about right. Well, so the original after the original injury, a great two latch strain is five weeks offtimore recovery, and so he should have
been back on May the fifth. So my thinking is in the algorithms readjustment is basically a lot of teams don't tell tell us when players are coming back, and their recovery is it fast as its slow as it normal. He's having a slower recovery. It maybe because the original injury was more severe and may have been a great two three like or three. Um, so they're being very sensitive with him and very careful. Uh. So we tacked
on another four weeks. So basically it's June five to June the tenth right now, is what we're projecting, all right. So that's a pretty good timetable though. So you know, if the Mariners are expecting him to be back in mid June, it seems like he should be good to go by then. We spoke about him earlier on in
the show. The Seattle Mariners bullpen has been a complete mess basically since he went down, so in deeper leagues, if you could stash him now, I think once he returns, he pretty much just steps into the closest role here for the Seattle Mariners. They've been trying to to figure that out. So I think once they get Hunter shrinking back, he should be good to go and obviously will help
the Mariners and fantasy owners alike. Doctor Tim Anderson was you know, dealing with a risk injury injury you know missed the past four games. Did get back in the lineup yesterday? Is this anything that we need to worry about when it comes to Tim Anderson or should he be good to go because he was back in the line up yesterday. I mean it's a soft tissue. Um. They they did an X ray, it's negative for fracture, so it's just a soft tissue contusion. It'll cause him
a little bit of discomfort. Typically we say let him rest a week. Sometimes teams don't care about that and they'll just play them right away. If they don't have a fracture, they'll just you know, get over the fact that he has to suffer through a little bit of pain until it gets healed completely. So nothing really to worry about for Tim Anderson. Okay, because loved him Anderson, Mr Anderson, Um, doc, we got a guy on the
Colorado Rockies, Tony Walters, the catcher for the Rockies. I got I gotta Pausey for a second there, venture because this is Greg Sussman special. Tony Walters wanted to fight out Tony Walters because we own him on its team together. This is a Gregg Subsman special if I've ever seen one, you know. So normally he'll he'll he'll tell doctre. Uh, well, I'm a little bit selfish at times. I want to ask you about one of my players. So hopefully he's
watching while sitting back drinking a malbow babies. Um, Tony Walters handed dry not in the starting line up for Wednesday's game. Yesterday, Oh late, scratch, do a do a hand conclusion, is this something that we should be worried about right now? Uh, he definitely needs to take a week. And I like the fact that he um he scratched from the lineup on Tuesday and didn't play Wednesday, because this is a catcher, it's a throwing hand. There's no fractures.
X rays negative, but he does have a little bit of pain. That hand needs to be completely healed, just from a soft tissue bruising standpoint. And I like the fact that one week, give him one week off. May thirty one, which is tomorrow, should be that one week after the injury. And so you know, uh, let him play on the weekend, but keep him out one more game. Okay, there you go. Hopefully the Rockies take a cautious approach when it comes to Tony Walters. Look, not a guy
that's gonna light up. You know the scoreboard for Fantasy baseball, Greg but venture Look I'm calling because you know, I got Tony Walters on the mike. But in two catcher leagues he has been serviceablie good batting average, not really any pop or anything, but good batting average from a
second catcher. There, Doc, We actually got a earlier on in the chat asking us about Nelson Cruz, and I think it's a good place to go next because he was eligible to come off the i L last Friday and they were talking about it like he was gonna be back in the lineup and then he gets pushed back now and he's dealing with a risk injury and he's one year older and you know he's no spring chicken anymore. Should we be worrying about Nelson Cruz? Well, yeah,
so the age is the biggest factor there. Um, you know, these little injuries that come up when you're that old and you know and playing in the league and you know, it's just uh, and the fact that you know his now that he's a d H. You know, the risk is a tremendously important body part because it has to do with hitting all the time. And so, um, it's a great one. It's not a soft tissue. So he does have some tendon tendonitis and it has to be you know sort of uh, you know, given a full
two weeks. But that two weeks ended, um, you know sort of on made the and then he had a setback. Um, you know, he took some batting practice, um, and he was expected to be activated, like you guys said over the weekend, but there is more compromise because of that risk to his hitting motion that you know they're reporting. And so when we see that, we've upgraded that risk sprain for his original sprain from a grade one to a Grade two meaning downgraded and I'm sorry, to a
grade too. And so now that that put six weeks onto that original timeline, So it's basically June the like mid June, June tenth to June fifteenth, basically, so still more two more weeks is what we're predicting. Now, okay, I'll take that. You know, considering thirty years old, though, I mean, you knew one of these years something was
someone's gonna happen. That's why I think it's better. That's you know, they play it safe with him, and it exactly, I mean, they don't even really need Speaking of another Minnesota twin that a lot of people own a lot of people like, including myself, but he's been very fragile over the years. Twenty five year old Byron Buckston outfielder, of course, recently bruised his right knee running into the wall, which he tends to do from year to year. Uh. And you know he says he's fine, uh and should
be ready for today. But should we be at least a little concerned because he has a you know, a lot of injuries in the past. He's been fragile, and you know, we want to see make sure this guy is healthy because he could be a star. Yeah, we only got a minute left. So yeah, one week June four. If he shouldn't play today tomorrow, this week, he should wait till next week. Awesome. So there you go, Byron Buckston.
Let's play it safe with him coming around a little bit this year venture, you know, hitting for a little bit more pop, making more contact, not striking out as much. He's got the nine stolen basis. So again in that Twins lineup, you know, you could do a lot of damage, but we need you to be healthy, so we should not start him to this approach when it comes to Byron Buckston, that is dr a of inside injuries. Doc.
We appreciate the time as always. Yes, guys, thanks, have a great day, See you next week, See you next week, doc. So there you go, Greg, Greg, Greg did have a little man than go on. I don't know what I look a little different and I've gotta get a drink in your hand or something. We gotta get a pool float, a little noodle or something for you to lay on here. I don't know. I got great Susman on the mind. There you go, There you go. That's uhwenty years ago,

I am Frank Stamford, joined by the Closer Resident for It's very groovy, you know, solid solid, because I like that, like that. But I mentioned we gotta go rapid fire here. We gotta talk about few more things that happened yesterday, real quick venture as I of course I'm getting updates
of the Cardinals game going on right now. Marcelo Una home run hanging it at us today. We knew that, Yeah, well he's gotta get the batting average up. That's what that's what comes down to. But I'll take the home is. Though we left off with the with the Phillies and Cardinals. We mentioned Bryce Harper three hits a home run, another guy like Hols here in mirrors. I mean just too talented. He's got a two forty three hitter. You have to
imagine at some point it's gonna come around. I know he hits a lot into the shift and that's been a huge issue Bryce Harper, but the power is crazy. Like the four outfielders at some times, for hey, drop a few buts down, dropping butts down the third base line. Let's get that bas Homer's, but let's get the batting average up to This is a guy who should be able to control where he hits the bull. He's been
training for the solo stife. This is like a generational prospect, and he's athletic to like he you know, like he could get it done. It's just that, Listen. The average is up to two already three. Listen. The thing about him is it's not like, oh it's two forty three again. I know he's batted poorly and batting average before and he has passed, but I think he has the capability, like he could just do That's what I mean, Like he could just do that whenever he wants. So there's
no given up on him. And even with this slow start, you want to say, he's still averaging three point nine fantasy points in my home league, so good, which is ridiculous, So good for ov P league. So that's where his value gets raised. You know, if you don't have to worry about the batting average O b P is always ridiculous. Noah twirl to Jammy yesterday too, Aaron, Noah Big. We want to see consistency at him. He's actually he's done this multiple times now against the Cardinals, which seems weird
because they're a good lineup. It seems like he struggles against other teams, but he's been really good against St. Louis so earlier on in the season. He also went six innings wander and run, seven k's, and then yesterday seven innings, one earned run, eight ks. The problem for Noah this year? But why why? Why this guy walking so many? I'm not someone he doesn't normally struggle with walks like this, but dominant yesterday his last time I
got against the Cubbies four walks. This isn't This isn't the arnouls that we're used to. He he might. I guess he's having problems, uh, you know, controlling his secondary pitches and stuff. He never had a dominant fastball last year. He you know, he'd dominated with the secondary stuff. So if it's not on on a certain day, yeah, he's probably walking people. And you know they know to be patient. You know they're seeing that he's walking people. This year,
I think he'll be fine. Though I'm not worried about him. But as the r A says right now, sits at four on eight, it's not what you paid for. You know, it's not what you pay for. But be patient, it'll come. Venture Tigers Oreos. The Tigers would this one four to two. Good pitching performance here from John Means. I liked him as a single start matchup this week. Wrote about him
on my Patreon earlier on on Sunday. So great start, no walks, seven cases, here you go six six Ennings wonder and run seven case and Shane Green eighteen save of the season, big one point one three d r A. Who is this guy? What are we doing? He's rejuvenated. I feel like this happens every year there's one close of that just like rejuvenates his career, Like it was Greg Holland one year, and like it's just like it happens that Greg Holland's doing it this year too. Yeah,
there you go. So these guys do that. I like veteran closes. They get the job done. And you know, I have him on a few teams. I didn't start him this week. The Tigers don't trade him either. As good as he's been, let's keep him on the tip. They're gonna have to trade him. Probably they're bad and
thirty two they're gonna adapt to trade very bad. He's probably the most valuable asset besides Nick cast Honest, I think they end up trading him to Yeah, he's not even having the year that you know, his may has been better, it may has been better, So I think I think he'll land somewhere else. We'll see what happens when it comes to uh to Nick Cassiano's here, But same score, different game, the Marlins win against the Giants
or to two Pablo Lopez another one. I like a boy as a single start to six innings, four hits, wander and run, one walk, five strike as If you look at his game log, it's one really good start, it's one really bad start. So maybe you don't start him his next time now. But look, we love streaming pitchers against the Giants against the Marlins. We knew this was gonna be a low scoring game. Bum Garner on
the other side, six innings, two earned runs. He gets tagged with the loss, unfortunately, because if you look at the Giants lineup, you know they have Mike Yastrinsky batting second for them, and you know, Panda Panda, Panda Panda adding clean hand is bad and clean he's in. It's not Bumper. He's got a four point zero one e r A. The underlying number is actually a little bit better for bum Garner. It's gonna be the race for Bummy. Who's gonna end up trading for him because he's not
gonna be on the Giants come trade deadline. But you know, the Giants are in that transition period where they're rebuilding their Stage zero right now. Um, so you gotta sell off everybody. It's gonna be so weird to see Bummy a different uniform, you know, same thing. I mean, you gotta ask yourself, Buster Posey. They moved him to Yeah, I mean, I don't know what. He's not himself anymore, you know, to forty eight batting average O p s another guy throughout the draft season venture I didn't want
anything to do with it, and you were right. I mean coming off a hip surgery and one year older, and the powers, the power and not a batting average has gone too. I mean normally you depend on him for a two eight batting average and he is a catcher. This happens to catchers. I remember Joe Maher happened to Joe Mall was hitting three twenty like every year he won the bad at the end of his career, he
gave you good batting average power. Well, they started playing him at first base in d h him and stuff. That's how you save a catcher. That's what they need to do a post care Then what do they do with Brandon Belt? What I'm saying, Brandon Belt, this is supposed to me. I thought he was gonna be their best hitter this year and he's hitting to thirty. You know he's not really Papo Set is actually their best hitter right now to um. But there's no power in
this Like, there's nothing there in this lineup. You just like it's saying everyone. Guys like Posey and Belt are big commodity and trade Belt and you know what if Belt ends up in a good hitters ballpark. I always said, you put that guy in Yankee Stadium. Yeah, exactly. San Francisco SAPs your power already, and then when you're older, like Posey is, forget about it and bum Gun needs
to be traded. Yeah, he's hanging by a thread with his four y r a like he's doing well, but he's hanging by a thread in the sense that his value could decline at any moment. Get rid of I would get rid of them sooner rather than later. The Giants aren't going anywhere three. They should know this. If you worry that if he gets traded the Ventura, he doesn't have the comfy home ballpark of Oracle in San Francisco. That's a big ballpark, that's probably the best pitchers park
in baseball. He's gonna leave there. He's gonna end up somewhere like Olwakee, Bad Houston, Minnesota, maybe the Yankees, maybe, Yeah, most of those. I am concerned. But maybe if you're a fantasy owner you trade him to it's together good starts you him before he gets traded. Exactly. I agree with that worry about he's gonna end up in Man, I would absolutely trade him. Uh, you know, maybe he has a couple more good starts to get him at a nice value, you know, nice value. You could trade
him to something pretty good. I could see that easily happened going to another team. And this is why the John should trade him soon, because once he gets to another team, he's probably gonna start having trouble right away. You know, you've seen the desine on the fastball. Uh, Mike Floria had a great stat on his the isolated power, so isolated power for those out there, I slugging percentage
minus batting average, so you're isolated power. His isolated power against his fastball last year was the same amount as Christian Yellowish is ISO overall. So like, so every year who was batting against his fastball was Christian Yellowish. That's just I mean, that's crazy, crazy, Like you're seeing a bit of a decline here from bum Garner. So makes sense he's gonna be traded. But ultimately, I don't think
that helps his fantasy value. It's gonna help him get wins, but the e r a might balloon a little bit, probably give up more home runs in a different ballpark. On the other side, Sergio Romo gets to the eleven save of the season. You don't love Sergio Romo, but con then he's getting a job done for the Marlins for the time being. I think he's another guy that's gonna be traded. I'll be interested to ask Craig miss about this tomorrow because he follows the Marlins very closely.
He goes to a lot of the games. He covers the games for them in the press box. I want to ask him, if Sergio Romo is traded, who is the next man up to be the closer? Because people were clamoring for Nick Anderson earlier on in the season, venture his ear A now stands at five point one six. I think it might be Teyran Guerrero, the next man up for the Miami Marlins. This guy is a flamethrower. He's like six ft eight. There was a hundred miles per hour over ad per hour. There's no idea where
the ball is gonna be half the time. So he does have a three point three two ear a this year he does, I'm gonna ask it's kind of high, especially for a reliever. I just I don't know, Like ks, that's what you like to see. If he does get save opportunities, he's worth owning. In fifteen teams, but it's hard to own a closer in the my Ammy Mollins bullpen. You know, it's just it's a sketchy situation. And Joe Romo is on a very great streak that isn't gonna
last more than the next couple of days probably. But I'm not I'm not the beard either. I'm not solding this. I never really liked Romo. Yeah, well, even when he was on the Giants. Um he actually grew the beard too, as like camaraderie with Brian Wilson. Remember that the Beard beards together. That guy had a short run Ryan Wilson right two or three years. I think everyone was freaking out about the beard. Crazy dude too. He was a cool dude. Yeah, he was out of his mind a
little bit. But that's all right, a little bit. You gotta be as a closer. Sometimes John Rocca comes to mind. Oh my god, John Rockets a nut job. It's just a straight nutjot. Yeah. Tampa Bay Rays win four to three yesterday in extra innings in the eleventh Any Tampa Bay raysor hot Man thirty four and nineteen Austin Meadows another quality started awesome Meadows Blakes. Now I got Aweso Medals on mind because the guy's ridiculous. More hits yesterday,
m v P possible Austin Meadows MVP. Maybe in the future. I don't know about this year. Why not? Why not? He's hit three six, I'm thinking about it. Three It would have been George Springer before he got hurt, right, so now he could catch up, right, Meadows, Maybe your onto something here, Austin Meadows for m v P. Let's go Blake Snell quality starting this one six endings six
hits to ur and runs, two walks, five k's. If I'm nitpicking, I might have wanted a better performance than him against the Toronto Blue Jays, but it was still really good venture. Yes, I mean you know it's still a good start, quality start. Um, he didn't get the win. Did you get the win? He did not get the wind beating because they blew it. Jose Alvarado blows his mind save of the season, gives up two hits and earned run two walks as well. The e r A
up to three point three two. We know that the Tampa Bay Rays have really mixed and match using their UH closer by committee for most of the season. It's Jose Alvarado. It's Diego Castillo. Amilio Pagan has worked in for a little bit, but now he hasn't really had any save opportunities over the past couple of weeks. Has been good for the most part. Thought, oh yeah, no, he's been great. He's got nasty stuff. He gets you a lot of strikeouts. The r A rising a little
bit up to three point three two. It was due to I almost wonder if Diego Castillo starts to see a few more save opportunities here now he's been better overall, would you drop Alvarado if if that's the case, like if you just see him, I would not drop, ye would drop. I think the strikeout said he can give you and when everything's clicking for him, he'll give you good e r a good whip as well. And I don't think that they'll ever completely go away from him. Yeah,
they had left. He's coming up in the ninth. They still use him to and he'll get some save opportunities, So I would mentioning, but maybe Diego Castillo gets more save opportunities as a result of the blown save here or Vado Tommy fans is continue he's the man guy didn't end up with him anywhere. As for Tommy fam on the other side. Venture really much to talk about here because but Lords came back up continuing to get
it done. Two more hits, another home run. That's his fourth home run since he was called back up on Friday last week. You guys said four home runs in a week, and we spoke about him with the Modica on Tuesday. Venture this was a guy that I was targeting heavily in FAB because I think he might be someone that can give you home runs the rest of the way from the middle infield position. I absolutely agree. I actually had him earlier this season. I drafted him on one team. I was go out there and pick
this kid up. Yeah, you're right. Um. It was actually the pit League and he got sent into the miners, and I was saying to myself, like he wasn't doing that bad where he really needed to get sent down to the miners. He'd have good games here and there and show glimpses of of being a great hitter. I think he just needed that time down there to adjust, get his mechanics right, you know, get his swing down good, so he could come up and really help the team
and now he's doing it. I think this guy is gonna be a very solid hitter, uh for the rest of the season. I don't think you'll see him going back down. I would absolutely pick him up if you're in need of second bay, shortstop, middle and field, whatever it is. Washington Nationals fourteen to four yesterday, ventra Kevin Gausman the gas can one ending, eight hits, eight earned runs. What did I say about Kevin Gausman earlier on this season? He shows his sucks, That's what I said. I think
you said that too. I think he said he does show his pitch like he shows what he's gonna throw. Everybody can really uses two pitches. He uses a four seen fastball and he used a splitter. He's too predictable, and you get silled away at times if you have two pitches. You know, we've seen guys Chris Paddick fastball changeup predominantly two pitched guys. If you have a really good change up, really good splitter, you can get away with it at times. But eight earned runs just absolutely brutally.
And you know, Brad rad Ziegler said earlier on in the show, he thinks the Braves are gonna sign Craig Campbell and Dallas Kaiko. Maybe that's the reason. Why do you think so Gasman suck? I'm cool with the Kaiko thing going here. I mean, listen, I got Kou in the pit league too. I've been waiting patiently, waiting for this time happen. Em great song venture. Austin Riley the only positive here for the Atlanta Braves yesterday. Everyone's waiting
for Austin Riley to slow down. The guy has a three seventy five average, eleven nine o p s. Who hits yesterday in a Grand Slam. Yeah, I started him over Jose Ramires this week, and this is why he's just two hot runs. He's got twenty Ribbies in like two weeks, seventy five batting average. Dude, this lineup could be really really good, like and they're underwhelming right now. Yeah, you're not playing up to the potential. Albis dropped all the way down to eighth. He's still good now since
he's still batting average. Yeah, he's not an hour slowing down. Wait, the average is what you expected? Yeah you expected that average to sixty something to seventy something. But I mean, I want a player wants. I want t steals? Yeah, absolutely, What does he have right now? What do we have? What as with steals and hobbies? You don't have the county sets ahead of me. I could pull us up here. He's got fourven homers, he's got four steals, Okay, I
think twenty four ribbies. I think I think he might be caught in his own mind trying to figure out what kind of player he wants to be. I think sometimes he tries to hit for power a little bit too much. I think you should just just do his thing right, make contact, steal bases, don't worry about and sure, but I think he might be thinking a little bit too much. Do I want to be a power hitter? You want to be a contact hitter. I don't want to steal basis. I think since that second half last year,
he's kind of been all over the map. Yeah, maybe he's not too sure of himself. Maybe he's working on Launch Ago, very focused on that. But listen, he's still didn't do sixty four, which isn't bad. Seven homes four stone basis isn't great, but it's not terribly either. He's still got that combo. He could still end up with
twenty homers and twenty bags. I still think he could end up doing that because the stone base could come in, you know, Groves at one point he could have a week where he's still three or four, and now he's on page I'm so he hasn't more stolen basis. I think he'll be fine now. But but that's what you're saying there. It's a little underwhelming right now. The Braves could do a lot better. They have the talent and they're all young. That's the best part. They're all young.
On the other side, National score fourteen runs, fifteen hits. You know, since I called out Trade Turner the other day, the guys been hot, red hot, Ventra based three more hits yesterday, two run scored. I mean, this is the Nationals lineup that we're expecting. This is this is what we were expecting. And you know, Anthony Rendonan coming around. Two more hits, two ribbies, Juan Soto Meanez who was across the board here, two hits, two ribbies, two walks,
two strikeouts. I don't love that before run scored. How Kendricks get a lot out of guys bagging three this year? Guys a fossil. I don't know how he's eight. Yeah, it's crazy that they're getting a lot from that guy in the fivefold, but they haven't gotten much to more recently. Adam eating, he was really kind of having a home yet, and then he looked at does what he does. He walks three run scored. Not really all that exciting. I'm sure it's been fun. We're gonna do it again in fun. Yeah,
good times, looking forward to it. Tomorrow we'll have Frank Misch making his fmc s Y radio debut for the first hour venture here in the second hour. Thank you all for watching the closer. Frank Standfeld, see you tomorrow. Stay Classic Fantasy Owners yep.
