You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network Fantasy best Friends Forever, Do Do Do? Do? Do? Do Do Yeah, as as the Fantasy best Friends Forever Here on the Fantasy Sports or Radio an hour alongside for Franky Stample, I am Greg Susman. Happy hump Day, which feels weird because it's only the second day of the week. Some would say it's the final day of the week. Ah well, we'll save that for later on the show. I guess
what doing? Alright? Greg? How are you doing? I had to sleep last night, so it was weird nights man um because I knew I could give a little bit later. Actually know NBA record this morning and I was ahead of my game. I record them Yestery will courts them after this, I was ahead of the game, but for whatever reason, I was up a lot last great and then I woke up like a half hour before, and
I really plan the waking up. I had a couple of urgent text messages, and then I was up when they showered, and I was like, this is gonna be a great morning. And then it wasn't terrible morning for Greggy. Lots of work. The moment you woke up today, huh, I did I did you know. Let's just say it's off the air, off the Yeah, things are going right. Obviously we're not on YouTube. We're on YouTube at the moment. Even though the description does not say BFF shore titles
and say BFFs. We are working through those problems and we hope to have a solution too. That is correct. That is correct. We're We're trying great, We're trying out here. But regardless, the show goes on and there's a lot to talk about from last night, a lot of fantasy baseball action and implications from last night. It was an interesting night in baseball over all. The Yankees come back fell just short, but overall, um, it was an interesting night.
It was It was a good night of baseball. Great, Yes, a lot happened. A lot did happen. We're gonna break it all down over the next two hours for you, uh tomorrow on the program All Head dr A. We'll hit up Brad Ziegler as well for Thursday and actually have breaking news. Let's start off right now. Alright, we'll start off with breaking news. Let's go. This is per Mark Berman, not Mark Berman, who covers The New York
Next Burman sports director at Fox twenty six. He's in Houston, says this Carlos Korea is out three to four weeks with a correct rib. That seems like a good place to start. Frank, indeed, yes, it is Carlos cream missing the next month or so with a craft rib. With a cracked rib. You'll get him back a little before the All Star break. I would think that sucks at that point. They probably no, But you're talking three or
four weeks. You're talking three to four weeks, and there's like two more weeks of action before the All start. I guess. I guess it also probably depends like where the Houston Astros that are at. If they're dominating like they are right now, do they really need him? We'll see what happens. Yeah, I mean at least the next three or four weeks. We're looking at the late June early July maybe for Carlos Korea and I had issues with Korea Greg coming into the season. Um, you know,
because he's been injury prow in the past couple of years. Obviously, you know, you can't really predict a cracked rib. Not I'll be interested to ask if we have dr or Virginia okay, soever we have from inside injuries, I'll be interested to ask if there's any possible way that this correcked rib is something that had to do with like all of his oblique injuries and years past or back injuries.
Because we always talk about like these compensatory injuries. I wonder if this cracked rib will have anything to do with injuries that Carl's corea has suffered in the past. But ultimately I wasn't on Carl's corea heading into the year just because he's missed so much time to pass leep the years really really affected his performance, specifically last
year the year before that it affected him as well. Um. To be to be fair, though he was performing quite well this year while he was healthy, but it seems like he's going to be out out at least the next three to four weeks. So big blow for the Houston Astros. The Astros getting a taste of what the Yankees have gone through all season now losing George Springer was out too of a dealing with a setback now as well, and Carl's corea out for the next month.
So it's a it's all hands on deck. It's uh, we're gonna get a lot of Alex Bregman still, obviously, Michael Brantley, those guys have carried the load all season. Greg Hen this effect Kyle Tucker at all? So that's the obvious question, right, like, how could this possibly affect Kyle Tucker? Or you're on Alvarez and I think I may have found out how how was that? I want to talk you through this. The last time Carlos Correa missed a significant period of time, who played shortstop? Alex
Bregman correct, So Alex Bregman could total speculation on my part. Obviously, Alex Bregman moved from the third to short given that Alevis Diaz is banged off and he's played we've been playing second himself. He could also play short when Alva comes back, although we'll see what else he does make it back, but Alex Bregman moves to short, got it good? Yeah, Julie gary L goes from first to third third base every day, so I'll play a third base on Sunday.
He was correct, correct, but he can't play third. He can play third. Everyone could at tempt to play third every day opening up first base, you're on Albarews play first base. Well that's the hope, right, that's the hope. But yeah, I mean, we're gonna get these questions, and rightfully so. And I see your logic, Greig. I think that can actually make some sense here. But for whatever reason,
the Astros have been headed in too. You know, call either of those guys up, whether it's Kyle Tucker, whether it's you're on alvarezs. Kyle Tucker more of an outfielder, maybe they could use him as designated hit or something like that, but they have been using you're on Alvarez Moore at first base. Last night, Tyler White played first base for the Houston Astros. Julie Guriel did play third base, so you got that part right. And then they had Jack Mayfield when they short stop, and I don't know
what Jack Mayfield. I was looking into the minor league numbers just now I want to see all right, so you're on. Alvarets has played nine games at first based so far this year in the minors, and obviously you know what he's done, and then they able to do overall speaks for itself. I mean not just uh, I mean twenty home runs, three sixty three batting average p s. You're don Alvarest is the hottest hitting player in the minor leagues right now, and we're all clamoring for him
to come, but they've been hesitant for whatever reason. I think if they if they wanted to make this happen, this might be the final straw that they needed Greg because now they're without al Twove, now they're without Springer, now that without Korea. That's three players that are mainstays in their line up there, the core of the Houston Astros. Maybe it'll take them losing a couple of games for them to really realize, Okay, we we need we need a shot in the arm here. We need something maybe
that leads to it. But I would imagine with all these injuries in the near future, we should get one of, if not both, Kyle Tucker and you're Don Alvarez. At least that's what I'm hoping for, Greg, and I'm sure a lot of other people are as well. Yeah, I think so too, And I'm hoping, uh hoping that we get both Alvas both Tucker in the lineup soon for Houston as we get towards the omer and fantasy owners get towards that playoff push. Good start there, Frank with
the news on Carlo's corral. Yeah, I'm I'm looking to see if Jack Mayfield actually ranked as a prospect for the Astros. He doesn't rank in their top thirty on MLB dot Com, and he's actually he's been around a while. He's a twenty eight year old, so he's bounced around a little bit in the minor leagues, and it seems like he's a quad a ish player, probably someone that
Nando di Fino loves deep down. But at two seventy career hitter in the minors for Jack Mayfield, he does have a season of twenty home runs under his belt with ten stile and basses as well that came back in seventeen, so seems like a solid player. He's probably just like a you know, plug the hole for now, but doesn't really offer much upside playing deeper leagues for
the short term. It seems like he's gonna play shortstop until they make a corresponding move, whether it's Kyle Tucker, your Don Alvarez, or or whatever it might be, whoever it might corresponding move. And so Ryan mc taggard actually reported that he's gonna be out four to six weeks. So that'll take us to the All Star. That was Miles Straw and called up from Triple A. Straw, Yes is her prospect, Yes he is. He is their fourteenth ranked prospect in the orgmentation. So let's call up everyone
except Kyle Tucker or you're Don Alvaage. Well, i'll tell you what he been up to al right. So in Triple A so far this year, in forty six games, he's benning two eighty nine with the three sixty nine o b P seven p s. Does not hit for any power whatsoever. One home run, five doubles, sixteen stolen bases, So if he plays every day, he might have some sneaky stolen base upside. Greg and looks like he has
some batting average, he has a hit tool. He has a seventy grade on his speed according to MLB dot Com. So this is ranked out of eighty guys. Pretty damn fast. That's basically what they're saying here. So he's got sixteen stolen bases in forty six games. So I just mentioned
Jack Mayfield. If that's not the answer that they're looking for, if we get more consistent playing time out of Miles Straw and that is someone who can offer us some stolen base upside, Greg Okay, So Miles Straw potentially giving us that stolen base upside with whose it with Carlos Cray excuse me out for the next four to six weeks with a fractured rib. No bueno for Carlos correct stole seventy basses last year in the month league, seventy basses,
the year before that thirty eight. So he's got thirty eight, seventy and so far sixteen under his belt. He has one sixty seven stolen bases in the minor leagues and has been caught stealing forty one. This guy is he's known for his hit school, he's known for a speed. He's a three oh one career hitter in the minors. So no, I just spoke up Jack Mayfield. But this guy obviously has a much higher upside for batting everything and and some speed here Greg, some stolen basis absolutely okay.
So last night Houston was able to get a victory over the Cubs. Uh not thanks for their pitching which was quite bad, but they're hitting which was quite good Hereston. In this game nine to six, Corbyn Martin started for Houston. He got rocked over his three two thirds innings of work. Josh James also got rocked into two and the third innings, each allowing three runs each, striking out for each, allowing
uh several home runs. On the other side for the Cubs, John Lester, despite getting a big lead, he could not keep that lead. He was up three one, then three two, and then blew it open in the fourth, allowing four more runs. His line was five and two thirds, seven runs alloud eight his three walks, strike, striking out three. It was all about the hitters on display here for both sides for Houston and Chicago. Will go over to Houston as Alex Bregman hit two home runs, his sixteenth
and seventeenth of the year for the Astros. For the Coves, a lot of players went deep and cleanly. One I wanted to talk about Frank Jason. Heymy, where did his eighth home run? Cow? Sure it is night and I'm actually right there with you. David Bodie hit to his fifth and sixth of the year. But the player that I think does bear mentioned he played short stop yesterday with Javier Baiez dh ing and that is Addison Russell. I know Addison Russell not a good guy. Get it.
Started off the year suspended due to the domestic violence incident, but he is back now and I think it bears looking into Addison Russell as a potential fantasy commodity. Again, I completely recognize you don't like it, you don't want to do it given his background, But from a fantasy perspective only, that's all I'm doing here. On the season. Thus far, Russell's batting with four home runs, seven runs scored, six ubies over eighteen games and fifty three plate appearances.
His HERD hit rate is close to forty, which I think is very good. Um his k K rate is down to nineteen ish percent. Bavitt doesn't look to be crazy nothing really. My estimation, Frank really seems out of the line. What do you think of Addison Russell? Should fantasy owners in all leagues consider him? Well? For us? And foremost, I just want to piggyback off of what you said, and that's why I wanted to bring this up, because he has been playing well and and it's worth mentioning.
But I understand that you know this has happened in the past in all different sports. If you have an ethical issue with Addison Russell and anything that he's done, completely understand not wanting to get involved with it. Greg, Like, we're not gonna judge you, obviously, and we're not asking you to judge us either for talking about him. But we are here to talk about fantasy baseball and he is relevant right now what he's doing offensively, so it's
worth mentioning. Look, if you don't like the guy, I get it. But a lot of the points that Greg hit on are valid. A hard hit rate so far for Addison Russell this year, He's got four home runs and only eighteen games. This is a player that has a season of twenty one homers and nine five ribbies under his belt as a middle infield player. Never a
guy that's going to hit for good batting average. So I think the is a little bit flukey right now, Greg, but the strikeout rate has improved, he's lowered it so far, um, And I think he's worth mentioning, especially right after the fact that we we just went over Carlos Korea's injury. Right If you're looking for a middle infielder that can give you a little bit of pop and and kind of replace something of what Carlos Correa was doing. I mean you're talking about like sixty Carlos Correa here, and
that's what Addison Russell is providing right now. Then I do think that it is worth mentioning and and what he's doing right now, I think he's better for probably better for roto leagues, although the plate discipline isn't terrible. Look, if you need a middle infielder, this is what it comes down to. He's in a really good lineup with the Chicago Cubs. He's playing more recently, and I do think that he should be on your radar as someone
to add. Over the last ten days, Addison Russell, Uh, they played every day the Cubs every day over the last ten days, They've played Addison Russell has started six of those ten games. In the four games that he did not start, he received at least two at bats in every single one of them. Now, he got zero hits in those eight bats, but he did receive two at bats. So he came in early enough in the
and receive two at bats for Chicago. Now he does that seventh or eight in this lineup, depending I guess right to your left and how the lineup does shake out. He's homeward in three of his last four games. I think Frank's right. I think if you need a middle infielder, I think Addison Russell is fine. There is no speed here. You're looking at a guy that has the ability to get on base, does have a little bit of power
from the middle infield spot. If you aren't looking, if you did lose a Carlos Correa, Frank and for whatever reason, you don't like the numbers, you don't like Addison Russell, you want to go in a different direction. Who are some other names that fantasy owners can try to grab? Yes, how's just talk about the middle infielders in general. And no, I mean we're gonna talk about Derek Dietrich obviously, and what he's doing right now. And I got a question
before the show, Derrek Dietrich or Tommy Lostella. No, I think those both are fine options. They're more you know, second baseman, middle infielders. But if we're just talking about shortstops and players who are out there, David Fletcher, I mean, we've spoke about this guy for how long now he's still only owned four homers, four stow and bases. Good batting average doesn't give you a ton of counting stats, but he does give you good batting average. Lord as
Gurriel someone that we mentioned yesterday with Modica. If he's out there still only thirty four percent owned on Yahoo. Another player that can provide some pop and I think better batting average, and Addison Russell as well. You know, I had some people asking me over the weekend, Greg, why do you like Lord As Guriel. I don't really, I don't really get it. You look at what he did last year. The guy hit two eighty with eleven home runs in only sixty five games. It's pretty impressive.
So I think he's a guy that can hit, you know, close to close its twenty home runs the rest of the way, assuming that he sticks in the lineup. You're gonna have to wait a little bit. Did Gregorious or uh you spoke about him as well yesterday? Uh, and then Jose Glesias. I mean, this is just like deeper leagues if you just need someone to fill in until you get like a d D. Gregorious back well was a Glazie has actually played well. Greg three thirteen batting average,
four home runs as well. So those are a few middle infields that you can look at. Put there are many only other middle infielder's a plenty. The only other name we wanted to mention you adventure been on him. That's or Lando or Cia. You mentioned him a lot this week, so I want to throw him out there as well. Okay, touch a little bit more on Corbyn, Martin, dont lesson. When we get back, we'll do that. Well,
we'll talk more into the astros and the coast. We'll go all around the majors here over the next two hours. Back with you on the bff's Fantasy Sports Radio Network, Frankie Stamford, Gregg soustermore over Carlos craz injury and potentially replacing him with Addison Russell and Frankie, you wanted to get more into John Lester uh and Corby Martin two starters from yesterday. Yeah, because like a full a month ago, I apologize to
John Lester and now look at what he's doing. Five and two thirds eight hits, seven earned runs, three walks, three strikeouts. Greggy, he has allowed nineteen earned runs over his last three starts. That's fourteen innings pitched. That's a twelve point to one E r A. So I'm here to say this, Greg, john Lester owes me an apology. Yeah, yeah, if you're listening out there, John Lester, I apologize because I talked badly about you during draft season. I didn't
think he had anything left in the tank. First five six starts you look pretty good. Next three sucked. You Owe me an apology. So John Lester, done with you. This kid, you probably wouldn't drop him, but he had some really tough matchups. But overall, I think this is part of what you're gonna get from John Lester. You're gonna get some inconsistency. I think you can use them in the right matchups. This was not one of the right matchups. Corbyn Martin. On the other hand, Greg, he
hasn't been great. He hasn't great. We had high expectations for this guy. He was one of the top prospects for the Houston Astros, not the top pitching prospect because they have this guy named uh Forest Whitley in the organization. Forest Whitley, by the way, has been terrible in the minors this year, and I don't know when we're gonna get him. Yeah, that could be much longer time. You know we're not in the same discussion as Kyle Tucker and you're on Avarez when it comes to Forest Whitley.
But Corporn Martin, Greg He's allowed six home runs over his first four starts. He's allowed at least one homer in each of his starts. He hasn't gone more than five and a third endings pitched in any of those starts. In fact, he hasn't gone more than four endings pitched in each of his past three starts. I'll throw this your way, Greggy. You got the quick trigger finger. Are you dropping either one of Corbyn Martin or John Lester? So? I am as I am a John Lester Howler. I
did bention him last night. I took the shot with Lucas Leto last week with Houston. Didn't do it last night with Lester getting in a moment must start. We'll get a Julio in a moment? Um, Am I dropping Lester? Um? I'm not against dropping Lester obviously, you know a quick triggering hear me. I'm not against dropping him. I'm not actively looking to draw him like I am Aaron Sanchez at this point on that same team. Um, But I'm certainly not holding on off the right players out there.
The question obviously becomes who do you pick up for him? Right? Like, if you give me a name, I can tell you if I dropped a Lester for him. I'm looking at the most added pictures right now. I can always go back to Tyler Molly if you want. Yeah, Yahoo is just it's tough to gauge most added in Yahoo because it's always just pictures who are pitching that day? Yes? Would you rather own Wade Miley over John Lester? Is that a fair question? I don't know if he said
that like rudely or not. I don't know either, trying to figure it out like a fair question. He's got a three point three to ear a one point one six whip forty five trackouts in sixty two and the third endings. Bitch, uh, it seems like there might be some regression coming for Wade Miley. Greg, but lads on Man's when four or five starts, Well, yeah, he got the Houston Astro's offense behind. It helps a broken offense now, by the way, Greg, it is broken, but it helps.
It's a free to e r a. His X fit is four point four zero. His Sierra is four point five. Not as bad as I thought that was going to be. I felt like it was gonna sure, but I thought like that was gonna be significantly worse. Yeah, his hard hit rate is thirty eight and a half percent. I think Wade Miley for Lester is like fair. I mean, I guess they're like similar pictures at this point. John Lester does get more strikeouts, but his underlying numbers are similar.
I just looked him up, so pick your points. I probably just but yeah, they're they're similar. Um, Pabo Lopez, he was only picked up because he's facing the Giants today. Uh. Really, Griffin Canning one of the most added players, which rather own Griffin Canning over John Lester, Gregg, let's see why he would be out there. I don't leave be out there, but sure would you drop John Lester if there's like a two start pitcher available that you want for next
week or something like that. Ideally not. I think he's better than just that guy, to be honest with you, So I wouldn't just young for a random two starter. So his next start comes on for Zach Davies, who has like a two point one A Greg Now I agree, with you. My next start, his next start rather comes on Tuesday, and that's the make a brake start for him. Was his last three stars for Lester all of an awful beyond three losses in a row, right, Washington, Philly
and Houston. Ye all really next, He's not tough matchup or it's not an easy matchup, but it's it's Anaheim. Yeah, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim might trout by the way, Greg banged up. He's always banged up. He is where he plays. The Angels are not great against left handed pitching. So that's that's the bigger break start. That's the make
a break start for John Lester. But if he's scheduled to pitch on to start pitcher, it might be Yeah, he's probably a two starter, so you're gonna want to keep him around at least for that, yes, and see what happens. But overall, I guess what we're getting at here, or at least what I'm gathering Greg, is that there's not there's not a ton of great starting pictures available
right now in free agency. Like we've really passed that point where you know you had all the all the pitching prospects come up, and you know we had um, you know all these like Frankie Mantas earlier on the season. We haven't had another wave of starting pictures like that that need to be like must add type pictures. How about Nick, Greg? That your way? What it wasn't terrible? It wasn't terrible. Greg was good, he settled down quite well. Well not style. Come on, how about this one, Greg,
mitch Keller, that might be the one. Wait, I see news here he's headed to triple A. I'm eighteen hours ago. Mitch Keller, It it's a triple A. Well, I thought there was a chance he might stick around because now they have an injury to Jordan Wiles. Correct so many he'll come back up? Would you do that? We dropped h On Lester for Mitch Keller. No, man, I get the next start, maybe the miners. Nick Pavetta last night, I will go there next my man Lucas. But that's fine.
Pavetta five innings, three history runs, two walk struck out six allow those two first inning home runs one of Paul gold Street, one of Marcela Uzuna, and that was it. No more runs came across the board. So he did settle down. Yeah, he settled down. What what does the Pavetta start? It was obviously a mixed bag. It was. I mean, this is Nick Pavetta style right here. I mean,
this is exactly who he is. He gets you worried earlier on in the start, he gives you two home run, gives up two home runs, and you're thinking to yourself, well, here you go. Nick Pavetta is at it again, but settles down averages over a strike up for any in the start, doesn't give you length. That seems to be, you know, a defining characteristic of Nick Pavetta nowadays. But he goes five and Jack pay his whip one of
the dot five. You know, three hits, two walks. So let's you know, five hits and walks combined over five innings. Pitched three earned runs, the two on runs, he gave up but six strikeouts, and he settled down nicely. You know, his final his final four endings of work, we're scoreless, and he was getting a lot of strikeouts as well. So I'm cautiously optimistic. I thought it was a step in the right direction. Again, I wouldn't have started him
last night. I wouldn't have started for this two start week. But if he comes out of his next start, which is against the Dodgers again, allowing like three earned runs or less, and I would say Nick Pavetta is probably back on our radar. That's someone that you can pitch in the right matchup. So that's how I bet right now. And I thought it. I thought it was a solid step in the right direction. Group. I don't want to overplay it too much, but I mean he did some
he did some good things here. Greg not all bad, No, not all bad. It's fine. On the other side, four St Louis way now stuck out ten guys over the six and things of working, like four runs eight hits, uh too, were in bombing the fourth. Riss Harper hit a big time double in the third. Those are all the runs that scored in the game. Yeah, nothing crazy going on in this game outside of that. I mean,
Wayne Wright not really much to talk about. Ten strike out shirt impressive, but he still has a four point nine four e r A. Marcelo Zuna hit another home run, his fifteenth of the season. He has forty seven r b I s. He is batting two thirty one, however, so that seems weird for him, because this is a guy who typically has always hit for a solid batting average, you know, to seventy two eight plus, So I would imagine some positive regression to come there for his batting average.
And I know we've been getting a lot of questions about Paul gold Schmidt, but he is getting up there in age. He's one year older. We saw this last year where he got up to the slow start and then just took off. I still think that he has the ability to just take off out of nowhere. I'm not ultimately all that's scared about a guy like Paul Goldschmidt, but he hits his his eleventh home run in this one Grede twenty six Ribbies gonna need you mean more
than that, But I like that. Yeah, yeah, you'd like more than that. But it's still really good Cardinals lineup. I think as the as the weather starts to heat up a little bit more, we'll get even more out of Paul goldchmigrade all right, So Paul Goldchard, hopefully we'll heat up for fantasy owners in the coming days as the weather gets warmer. You mentioned Casa Hernandez. You should feel good about that before it is sixth homer of
the year. Hernandez batted seventh last night. I leave for Philadelphia and uh, Caesar is not homeward in two of his last three games. He's batting over three ov P around three sixty, not really running as much as he did last year, which is three steals. What do you think of performance as a late He's just rock solid and he's you know, really good in points leads two because he doesn't strike strike out all that much. He
has good plate discipline. The walk grade is actually down last year thirteen point four percent, this year seven point nine. So it seems like he's taking a little bit more of an aggressive approach. Last year he would a leadoff man for the Phillies, so maybe that was something he was consciously doing. All right, let me get on base more, let me walk more, let me have the guys behind me. Uh, you know, do all the damage, drive me in. But maybe this year he's taking a little bit more of
an aggressive approach. It certainly seems like that's what he's doing. But he's lowered his strikeout rate eight percent last year this year thirteen point nine, which in turn has raised the batting average up to three oh three, and that's more of the player that we're expecting. She's our Hernandez to be six homers, twenty five runs, twenty five ribbies.
I'd like to see him run more. You know, if he could turn out to be a fifteen fifteen player with good Counties has in a good batting average, I think everybody would sign up for that. And you know, he's just he's a quality player. Greg and I think last year you saw that in that second half he was he was hampered with an injury. I think it was something to do with his foot or like a lower leg injury. I think that really slowed him down.
You see that in the batting average last year. But now he's bouncing back to the to the player we know he could be. So I like these arn Is. He's a fine middle infielder. The Lucas Gilio Show ruled on last night and we mentioned how on Nick Pavetta really jounced back after a tough first inning. Well, the same can be said even more so my man Lucas Gilto, who over the first four hitters allowed a three run bomb who went maryfield. After that, Nada Gelto allowed I
think one more hit the rest of the way. He struck out ten guys walked, one of that came the first inning and allowed of the three run ball. He went eight innings once again, lower's e r A to two point eight five and improved through seven and one
on the season, circle of trust welcome. It has been an awesome, awesome season for Lucas Gilto And like I said last week, I'm actively rooting for this kid because so many people were writing him off, and you know, sometimes it takes years for these prospects to figure it out, and you know, there was a lot of expects he for him. He was, you know, part of a huge trade and you know he was really asked to be the leader, the anchor of this pitching staff for the
Chicago White Sox frankly before he was ready. I mean, this was a really young kid. But he's he's starting to put it together. Greg fastball changeup combination has been lights out for him. He also mixes in a quality slider, but it's really been the improvements on that changeup and
his fastball. His fastball command has been better. He averaged ninety five point two miles per hour last night with his fastball his change up by the way eighty two point six, So we see a twelve thirteen mile per hour discrepancy between his changeup and his fastball, which obviously is keeping hitters off balance tremendously. He had twenties six swinging strice yesterday against the Kansas City Royals career high
ten strikeouts. He retired after that home run. He retired twenty two of the next twenty four batters he faced. He's allowed only five walks over his last four starts. I think that's tremendous for him as well as a guy who you know routinely has been over three walks per nine in his career. And he's also struck out seven or more in five of his last six. So these strikeouts are there, the walks are down, the swinging strikes are there, fastball change of combination, is there, mixes
in the slider. I mean, he's got absolutely everything working right now. Greg, I'm buying in. I'm I'm buying in. And I put out a poll before the show started. I asked which one of these breakout starting pitchers you trust most the rest of the way. Geelito, Matthew Boyd, Caleb Smith, and Brandon Woodroffe Brendon Woodrof not getting as much love as he should. He's not Lucas Glo leading with thirty of the vote. Sure there's a little bit of reason there, but hey, Matthew Boyd pitch last night.
He also pitch pretty damn wells fantasy best for however from Frankie stand for one of more two last night. The one hit, the other one not so much, not so much. Yeah, and my under for the for the Nationals and the Braves Greg eight and a half final score five four. Huh. These guys just know and girls if if there are are female odds makers out there, I don't want to limit it to these guys. But man, looks Gelito, Greg, you said, circle of trust. He's earned
He's earned it, man, he's earned it. The next start for Giolito, the second of the week, comes against who Reggie, I got it here, hang on Cleveland, Cleveland beautiful. Yeah, well, I believe he's already dominated like twice. On May seven, he was in Cleveland. He went seven and a third shut out in a struck out eight. It's pretty good. And the Cleveland Indians have not been so great against
right hand pitching so far this year. So anything any benching this far this year, Well, if you follow Michael Florio's Twitter feed, ramires two hits and two stolen bases. Let's hope this is part of the break out. How many times have we said that this year for for Rosie rameiroors way way too many. But that's why I said, you can't bench him in rhoto leagues because he just has that ability to exactly you of anywhere from three to five bases in a single week. So I wouldn't
have been him there, but I understood. Look, if you're getting frustrated with him in the head to head league. We had a long discussion about Josier Mirrors. You go back and listen to it yesterday on demand. You can watch it on demand. Well, yeah, we had a very spirited discussion about Jose and Mirrez and what to do with him right now. It's a it's quite the conundrum. It's it's been one of the biggest issues of fantasy
baseball so far this season. The other story last night, one of our fantasy best bets forever that didn't go our way was between Cincinnati and the Pirates. So we have really just one day to thank for that. It was Derrick Ddrich d squad. Uh. Two weeks ago, we went to our lane up for g s T. I said, we only have one player that tennell runs. It was a player that we just picked up. It was Derrek Didrich. Since then, we we've dropped Derrek Didrich. Oh, Greg, why
are we so dumb? And he hit three home runs last night. He now has seven teen home runs on the season. Diedrich led the Reds to an eleven and six victory. Jordan Lyles gets hurt in this one. He went four nuts, let three hits, three runs, walked too, struck out three, allowed one of the Dietrich's home runs, while Lucas Sims made his debut seven or third. Is a lot of exciting about this kid on Twitter during the night seven of the third, six hits, four runs,
nine strike as. The only runs until allowed was a grand slam by the idiot Kevin Newman. You're still holding oude. Never forget. Never forget. The reason, Greg says idiot Kevin Newman is because we had Jamison Tyone both starting together. Actually uh, and this guy Kevin Newman made like three errors in one ending and basically just completely messed up any opportunity for Jamison Tyne to get anything done earlier
on in the season. So stupid idiot, that's why. But yeah, Lucas Sims, a lot of people were talking about him on Twitter last night and like that, ignore the Derrik Techricht Park. You worry I'm gonna get to Derrik Dietricht. But yeah, this guy was basically fastball curball. There was curball thirties seven times last night. Also makes in a change up nineteen swinging strikes on a hundred pitches. So I do have Do I have a little bit of
interest a guy like Lucas Sims. I'm gonna pay attention to him, and only I might take a stab there already, but I fifteen teamers, but I'm on the radar. See what happens with Lucas Simms. There's some interesting minor league numbers as well. We get back tell you more about the teaching. We'll take a break here, we'll come back more on is next. The Fantasy Sports Network is ready

That's all I got was It was like drop drop, and I was like, that's what it was? Are talking about, Little John Dropp? That's what I'm doing? Good? All right? Do you not hear it? A little bit? All right? Kind of um? Little greggy that's what they call you,
Little greggy, Little Greggy, little Dickie. I was playing making a play on little John Gregg and now you're a little Greggy, the white guy or little Dickie. Interesting guy, Little Dickie, by the what an interesting guy. When it comes to Derek Dietrich, also quite interesting guy. Right now, Greg, this guy has seventeen home runs and that is a career high for him in fifty two games. His previous career high was sixteen home runs. That was last year
in a hundred games. Now, everything that we did for Christian yellowsh J t ro Muto, we looked at their career numbers in terms of splits on the road versus playing in Marlins Park. And if you did that before the season, you would have saw that Derrick Dietrich had much better career numbers on the road than he did in Marlins Park. And rightfully so, it's obviously a man at play ballpark that he was hitting in. But he gets away from Miami and I saw people talk about
this on Twitter last night. Well, how could the Miami Marlins give up on Derrek Dtrich? Oh my god, Well they designated him for assignment last year and twenty nine other teams passed on him too, there's a lot. I thought the Yankees actually could be interesting in Dtrich never
made a move them. Yeah, and that might have made a little bit of sense here to uh, given the way that he is uh pulling the ball, hitting the ball in the air, and what he's doing in a good hitter's ball park right now and Cincinnati would have made some sense. But overall, he's interesting. Fly ball rate right now that is a career highest. Previous career high was, So he's putting the ball in the air, he's hitting the ball hard. You watch those three homers yesterday, just
barreling it up, making solid contact. You can look at the ball as long as you want. Now, Derrick Dtrick, I guess you've earned that right. But he has uh seventeen home runs. Great. His home run the five ball ratio is thirties six point two per cent. That's like Christian Yellow second half of the season last year type numbers. So I don't know that he's gonna keep that up,
but it doesn't really matter. I mean, you look at the fan grass projections the rest of the way, they have him for between fifteen and eighteen home runs for the rest of the season. He's already got seventeen. I would put him for over thirty home runs as a middle infielder. So if he's still out there, I guess
there's a chance. Look, the reason why we dropped him was if you look at his game log from from May seventeen to one, there was a four game stretch where he sat out three games and he's probably still going to sit against left handed pitching. Does that mean that he's not valuable for fantasy No, obviously, because he's hitting for immense power right now. But he's I would say he's better for Rhodo because you don't need him
to play every day. It's just a matter of what he does when he actually does play, which has has been tremendous. He's still he's only owned in Yahoo, so he might be lurking out there in a little in you know, smaller leagues all teamers, maybe some ten teamers, but first, second, and outfield eligibility on Yahoo makes him even more enticing. He's he's made changes this year, Greg and uh, it seems pretty legit. Derry Dietrich getting the
job done. The question becomes when Scoot Jenette comes back, what happens Derrick Ddrick yeah. I mean that's just that's another wrinkle question here in the equation that is Derek Dietrich and Cincinnati Reds. I almost wonder do they they try and make a move? Do they try and do I don't know what that move would be because they have a Hendyo Suarez at third base, He's not going anywhere. Nick Senzel is in the outfield. I mean the outfield seems pretty pretty set too. So yeah, what happens, uh,
what happens with Scooter Jenette comes back? Can he play shortstop? Can Derrek Dietrich play shortstop? That might be something that we have to start asking ourselves because I don't think that Derrick Dietrich is gonna go away. Why should he? Yeah, he's doing tremendous things right now, So you know, they do have the option. I don't think they would want to mess with this though, Greg They can move Nick Senzel back into the middle endfield and then put Dietrich
in the outfield. I don't think that makes a lot of sense. It's a possible Scooters doesn't get a job Wally Pip Pip right here for Scooters. But Scooter has been so good to the past couple of years. Great. Did he played short stop? I don't. I don't think that he's ever played shorts. Scooter. Maybe maybe he has, maybe he can. I'm gonna look into it. I'm gonna look into see if if he's ever played any short stop.
I think he has to be honest with you. He has played mm hmm thirteen games in single a ball at short stop. Nothing in the majors. Really, he does have experience in the outfield as well, the corner outfield positions, not centerfield. Last year he played hundred and forty two games at second. Yeah, I'm looking at Scooter net has played six hundred and thirty four games as a second baseman. The most he has any other position is as a third baseman with nine Joey Bottom, does he just go away?
I don't think so, Frank. Look, if the Cincinnati read so I want to take a page out of the Milwaukee Brewers book and they only want to care about offense and the way that their home ballpark is built, they probably should take that approach. Just care more about offense. And if you want to put your best team on the field, your best hitting the lineup on the field, then that probably includes either Scooter Jeannette at shortstop or Derrick Dietrich at shortstop. I don't think those things work.
And you Hanio Squarres playing shorts stop way back in the day, but he's kind of filled out a little bit more. It seems like pretty cemented in at third base right now. Yes, maybe they can move Nick Senzels back to the infield. I don't think that's gonna happen though, so I think, yeah, it's probably gonna be one of
the one of Dietrich or Scooter Gennette playing shortstop. Jose Gleasius is regarded as a really good to fensive shortstop and he's over hitting over three only four home runs, but he hasn't really done anything to lose his job. You know what they say, Greg, the Reds have a
good problem on their hands here. But regardless, Derrick Teachrich needs to be owned because I think, if anything, the one person that they're going to figure out how to get in there against right handed pitching is going to be Derrick teacher and the choice at this point, No, they do not. Shame on us, Shane, shame, shame, shame there you go, Shame on us from his Derrick teacher thing. Jordan Lyles he droppable, Yeah, yeah, Like I would say
he's more droppable than John Lester. Yeah no, I mean he's dealing with an injury and he actually threw to that. He puts, he put together, you know, some some solid starts in a row, Greg. But yeah, I think he's I think he's more droppable than than John lest He does have three point zero nine e r A. So the numbers are pretty good. Numbers are pretty good here, um.
I would actually, I would probably try and hold him if I'm deciding between Jordan Lyles and John Lester, like I'm probably gonna drop Jordan first, Craig, but I would look somewhere else, try and find someone else to drop before I would drop Jordan Lyles because the numbers overall I've been it's been pretty good. Actually, just I don't own him anywhere, so I didn't I didn't know how well he was playing. But he is three point zero nine.
You're right, the underlying numbers is not terrible either. There you go, Jordan Lyles a strike up or any nine case per nine Lester Lyles, I would I would hold on to Lester all right. There you go um, well, let's go into your uh So. That was the one of our fantasy best bets for every Yesterday we got it dead wrong. Let's specifically venture and I my second one in Frank's first one was mad Boy taking on the Orioles and dealing Monday. Strangely, the Tigers were a
small underdog in this one. Would made no sense at all, and Boyd does what BOYD does. Man six innings of shout out Baseball, walk eight ks and proved through five and four On the year. Del Bundy, on the other side, a should pitch well seven innings, quality start, three runs, allowed seven hits, eight strikeouts, didn't walk anybody yesterday. Frank, by the way, before you before you going say this, just one note, take quit what you will. It's just nothing.
I recognized that it is not one of these weird Greg things. The month of May, Dylan Bundy did not allow more than three runs in any game that he pitched them first, saying I'm about to throw you through the studio, right, I'm gonna throw you through this window. I'm just noting that you sit here and you crush me for liking He's crappy, middling, veterans. What would what phrase would you use to describe Dylan Bundy failed top prospect? Failed top prospect. I'm sure Andrew Cashner was a prospect
at some point he was. I can't believe you just said that to me. I was on was noted man, it's all like that. Dylan Bundy has a two point six four ARRA in the month of magg I know, I was just explaining that, say, do you think you're onto something here? Um about to say he's one of these guys that gets a ton of swinging strikes, but it doesn't mean anything because results haven't been there. But I'm just I'm just saying, I just wanted to note
that it doesn't mean anything swinging strikes. Last night on he's got a thirteen point three percent swinging strike rep. That's pretty good. I know that. I'm just noting that is all right. I mean, I think it's actually it was worth noting. I think it's relevant. I think it's only fifteen team mix. All right. We got him, we got him. He was shocked when he just look at these numbers. But don't kill me when I bring up Andrew Casher thing. I just gotta look at Andrew Cash's
numbers two. I know I've seen him after him up, you can get into Mattie Boyd. Now all right, well, Matt Boyd, he's been awesome. Look six shut out as. He's been one of the best breakout starting pitchers this year. I mentioned the poll from before the show. I included matt Boyd, Lucascilito, Caleb Smith, another one of them, Brandon Woodroff has been awesome, Matthew Boyd, Greg a few more votes for Matthew Boyd. He now leads the poll thirty per cent. Which starting pitcher do you trust the most?
Moving forward? So people like Matthew Boyd, and rightfully so what he's done this year, he's been awesome. Six shoutout as yesterday eight strikeouts. He had fourteen swinging strikes. He's uh, he's gone down the Patrick Corbin route, Greg, where he has up to his slider usage tremendously and that has helped his hey per nine. Um, it helps his walks per nine. You know two point five y r A three point four nine x fIF three point to eight Sierra.
He's legitimately one of the top twenty five starting pitchers in Fantasy baseball right now. His his slider usage Greg up to thirty five percent this year, and and a slight increase in his in his fastball velocity too. So everything Matthew Boyd is doing it seems pretty legit. I want to look more into the Steal and Bundy thing. Right now, you can talk about whatever else happened is Yeah, no worries. Matt Boyd has been really really good all season long, and good for everybody that was still on
him after it last year and the year before. But Matt Boyd finally coming together. Obviously the match it was good against Baltimore. Maddie Boyd, man, I get the job done. That's five. R Eco goodrim In his fourth homer of the year for Detroit, well Christian Stewart still his first base of the season for Baltimore. It seems like we're getting suckered in here, Greg, not Christian Stewart. Excuse me, Dwight DJ Stewart by Dylan Bunny. I do want to
talk about Stewart not getting sucked in. I was just noting in the month of May one eight percent hard hit rate against forty three point seven percent groundball rate compared to a twenty nine percent groundball rate in March and April. So that's why we were streaming all our hitters are DFS hitters against Dylan Bundy in the month of March and April is because get all rate. The guy pitches in hand in yards. That's why that's why you see the Baltimorials give up as many home runs
as they did. But yeah, two point six four e r a in May, but a four point to nine except Greg all right Ale only fifteen team makes He's on the radar, not adding him in twelve team leagues. But we you know, we've gone through stretches where Dylan Bundy is somewhat relevant for fantasy, so that is worth mentioning. And then DJ Stewart Craig I wanted to talk a little bit about d J Stewart. He's a prospect for
the Orioles. Not it's like a top ish prospect. He is a a top fifteen prospect in the organization, A little a little plump outfield prospect here Greg who sneakily has some speed, so no tweeting about this yesterday. So he's six pounds, he's a he's a bigger he's a bigger boy. Sixty five career stolen bases in the minor leagues. He has a twenty season under his belt. In the miners. He had three hits yesterday, a pace yesterday in the majors. In the minors this year he was hitting three sixteen
with eight homers, four steels and ops. Over a thousand Orioles are looking for some kind of young talent to help them out, good ballpark to hit in. I have some interest in DJ Stewart. Again, he's in the uh, the Dylan Bundy realm right now. Well, we'll say fifteen team mixed, because you know, five five outfielders. Anyone is relevant. As as long as you're playing the outfield and you're breathing, you're relevant. Obviously A only not doing it in twelve
teamers yet. But I'm paying attention. I'm paying attention, Greg. This is UH. There's a guy who was hitting very well in the miners, has a little bit of pop and a little bit of speed. So DJ Stewart someone that you should be interested in. Mabe Demetrius Jerome Stewart would not have guessed that from me, neither. Our third fantasy that's forever Yesterday was the under this one was
your specifically, uh, Mike Sarroca not pitching. The start was Stephen it was Max Freed wrong young bet Pray set hang on Max Freed taking on Steven Strasburg and combined they only allowed six runs, which would have been fine. Kyle Barrackla didn't suck. Yeah, Kyle Barklaw messed this up. Man, Ah, that's one. Five to four. Sean doo Little picked up
his tenth save of the season. Steven Strasburg seven intings, five hits, two runs, walked, two struck out eleven or Max Freed was great five and two thirds, nine hits, four runs, walk three, struck out of five. Annoyingly, you had three of the runs for Washington all three. Three of the four runs four Washington came in that six inning cost fantasy owners equality start from Max Freed there,
which is always the worst. Yeah, Greg, and I think it's worth mentioning for Max Freed as great as he was in April, and I don't want to take anything away from it. I still think that he is pretty good picture. He's a fun picture to watch. You know, he's got a mid nineties fastball, he's got that big hook as well. But Greg in April a two point four three e r A over five starts, in May a four point one one ear A over six starts or Max Freed still thirty strikeouts and thirty and two
thirds and he's pitched. But you knew some re question was gonna hit at some point for Max Freed, and we're currently in the midst of that happening. Treggy, there are a few things that you need to pray to the Fantasy gods for throughout the course of the season and even before the season. If you get any shares of Steven Strasburg, just stay healthy. Please just stay healthy, Steven Stratsberg, because what you're doing right now is phenomenal. Greg.
The way that he's pitching is like the picture. We know he can be a top ten, top twelve ish starting pitcher for Fantasy over eleven case per nine two point to eight walks per nine, three point one e r A A two point an x fit A three point one seven in Sierra fourteen and a half percent swinging shrike rate. He's changed up the arsenal dis he sear Greg, he's completely ditched his slider. He's using his
curveball more, which is a wipe out curveball. He's learning how to pitch more this season with less, and he's getting better results. One hour down, one hour ago. We wrap up next
