You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network Fantasy best Friends Forever, Do to To To, to Do, to Do, to Do, to Do, to tota too. Yeah, of this as the Fantasy best Friends Forever here in the Fantasy Sports Radio Network alongside Frankie Sample, I am Greg Susman. Alright, it's come on a happy Tuesday. How much's going on? Get the Yankee shirt going on? A little glabor Torres on the back of his shirt. Happy Glabor Day yesterday,
Big Yankee comeback. It was an interesting night in baseball. Only one hour today abbreviated program. So for this abbreviated hour we are joined. But the Closer Christ, what's up, guys? How are you doing? It's your boy The Closer Chris Ventry here and yeah, big Yankee win last night. We're in first place. He's looking good for New York. Right now we are in first We are not New York in general not in a great shape. The Giants quarterback,
the Jets, the Mets are jokes. So Baseball New York basically our entire lives, Greg even No, I mean the Giants have been there, but like it's pretty much been the Yankees as the constant and then everybody else this a ray everywhere else. That's basically the your sports. Why would have changed now? It wouldn't, Frank, I mean, the Giants franchise have been you know, yeah they're not bad. They haven't been bad they are now but now they're bad. Yeah,
very dumb, very dumb people. They they're all about culture. The Giants now, Oh yeah, they got a great so they got rid of Landing Collins and Odell and they all defended chother yesterday. Check baby, check. That's a nice little culture right there. Checkdown culture. That fantastic videos of Daniel Jones during the wall to the running back. I gotta love that. Do you this picture show? You haven't seen it yet. I don't know what you're talking about
it to you. This picture is not photoshop in anyway. Which ones he like? I actually did see that. I assume he's the one in the foreground. So basically, there's a good face. There's a picture. It's too small for me to show everybody, but like, it's literally just the same guy. It's a joke, Unbelievaniel John's any same guy, same guy. Le big deal, le big deal all right. On the program today, little backpacking where you get your um your best pick, best bet everbody, the best bet ever,
best bet forever? What it was, best bet forever? It was best bet ever? Whatever were your best bet forever. A little bit later on the program, Frank, we technically made three of three of them mester at your best bets forever, go three, and out of course we did. They were the best best forever. They were as advertised, Greig. We'll try, We'll try and keep it going again today. Let's see see what we can do. Le's see if
we can start up a little streak here. When I looked at it, when I looked at it last night, I was pumped. I was really more intrigued by the Twins and Angels game than I should have been great. Oh, no doubt, no doubt when there was no one score him. It's not the biggest Jaco to Rees fan, but you were last night. I was last night big fan Jacoreesy. So let's start there. Let's start with Jacob are Easy.
Is that okay? Fantastic? Because Jake Odor Easy and Frank's Minnesota twins going to l A and defeat the Angels three So one under easy five shut out anything, three hits, two walks, he struck out six. Felix pain on the other side with five innings, a lout of four hits, one run, walked, one, struck out three. Once again, he was your uh with the term I heard yesterday for him? What his role is that? What his follower? Yeah, right after the open? What do you have after an opener?
You have a follower? Cole pitched one and then he pitched five. All right, so I'll go with pseudo starter. Alright. So Painia was your follower as it froll into the purposes, he was your starter, Taylor Cole was the opener here ty, but Sherty takes the lost Hunzle rob last picture of the ninth pitches actually very solid ninth right there, which you think godoresis performance right now? Down to two point three eight, franc I mean this has been pretty standard.
Jake Goderizy, he only had eight tweetings strikes yesterday in ninety pitches. But the Los Angeles Angels are a team that does not strike out very much at all. They're actually among the league le leaders in terms of strikeout right and swinging strike rate. So they're just really good in that regard. And now it's been this to four six eight straight starts that Jacob Reezi has allowed three earned runs four of his last five. I believe zero
runs allowed, that is correct. Yeah, so he's getting it done right now. Greg, there are some underlying numbers here with Jacob Reezi. You can try and turn him into someone else that you trust more long term. That's probably something that I would look into. He's got a two point three eight e R ray. Looking into the rest of the number his numbers, it's not like he's doing anything vastly different than he has in years past. He's
using his curveball a little bit more this year. The v low on his fastball is up a mile and a half last year one point one mile. Is proud of this year ninety two point six, but he's got a two point three eight ear a, he's got a four point five nine x fit Greggy, I think I would try. I think I would try just float them out there a little bit and see what you can get in return. Venture That's exactly what I was gonna say. I think this is the ultimate sell high picture right now.
The problem is jakeodre easy and everybody knows that if yeah, I mean, nobody's gonna people have been playing or you know, watching baseball for a long time. No, yea, So it's very hard to to do that. You would probably you would have to do it for someone who's struggling, like it would have to be like a classic sell high, sell high by low situation. Who would you rather have? Jake Odoreesi or Mike Minor Because Mike Miner last night
my man six innings of two run ball. He struck out eleven at Seattle Mariners last night and that was the second double digit strike out game of the season. No big deal, what is going on? We got blast in the past here with Mike Miner and Jake Odoreesy, two of the most relevant starting pictures in baseball to be honestly lowers his e R rate to two point
six four. Now you have two guys here with sub three e R a s. Mike Miner yesterday with nineteen swinging strikes on a hundred and seven pitches going up against the Seattle Mariners. We've talked about how they've come back down to earth. They got off to a blistering hot start their offense, and you know there are all of a sudden, like four games under five hundred, so
they've they've come crashing back down to earth. Greg But the underlying numbers, they're actually pretty similar to to Jake Odorezy. But I think I would go with Mike Miners. These guys are close and it's a fair strike, and if you look at the ballpark like you probably lean with Odoreesy over Mike Miner, who pitches in Texas, which is not frankly just not a good pitching environment. But I first what I'm seeing from him a little bit more
than I am. Odoreesi doesn't walk as many guys as Odoreeze either, the hard hit rate against him isn't as high as well, the underlying numbers are a little bit better. The first pitch strike percentage better as well. So it's close, but I would lean with Mike Miner and if I could, but probably try and dangle both out there and what he wants Jay Gunner easier, Mike mins Nobody wants these guys Pitley. I had a Mike Minor and he talked me out of keeping him, so I dropped him. Yeah,
she said, it's Mike Minor, what are you doing? Probably not true exactly what happened. If. I definitely didn't tell you to drop Josh Bell either, so I think he did that. I did not tell you to drop Josh Bell. Yeah, I don't think anybody did. I think he just probably told you so that he could try and pick him up. No, No, he had a bad first week, so I dropped Mike Minor, like and that's why you don't do what Breg Susman does and and just lose patients on your players after
the first week. But you also can't wait too long. Now Josh Bell is gonna win the n L m v P. Probably it's either him or Stick. He's got hurt sticking looking for players are like in the range as what RESI and Mike Minor. Minor in my home league is top twelve starting pitcher right now. Speaking of Texas, Frank, you were tweeting about this last night, drink. Chris Martin came in for not to save, but to close this
game out there up four runs. He left three of them in the ninth inning and did ultimately close this one out. But Jose Clerk has looked very, very good in his rollabill as an opener. Uh and in the middle inning Shawn Kelly activated off the aisle last night. This could be the end of Chris Martin the closer. Yeah, I think so. I mean three r and runs last night, gives up another home run to Dan Vogelboch, who we spoke about yesterday, who is officially hot once again. He
was hot to start the season, got cold. This is the player that Dan vogelok is gonna be. But regardless of Chris Martin, this is three straight appearances now where he's allowed to run. He allowed three ear and runs yesterday, the ear a all the way up to four point six six. Conversely, Jose La Clerk has gone three straight outings without allowing a run venturous. So I think it's gonna be somebody, whether it's Sean Kelly or Jose la Clerk.
They're probably taking this over from Chris Martin, and I would still put my money on it being Jose La Clerk sooner rev than later. I agree Martin, you know obviously falling apart and you know it really doesn't have
the experience. I would take a flyer on Kelly though, you know I would actually, I'm sure he's very long the only five on ESPN leagues, so because he's been on the I L you could also stash until he comes back, which is soon, and then you know you have a potential closure here that le Clark could be you know, you know, all over the board. Like you said, these these closers are becoming guys that pitch in situations
where you know they're most needed. So Kelly could end up getting a lot of saves and you're getting him for nothing. Really, I think you could put his zero one dollar bit or something on him and grab him. Um. But yeah, I agree with you on that and the other thing. Mike Minor and ODORREESI back to that for a second. They're like the same guy in their career too. There are guys that have been around for well, never
really put it together. They had a couple of good glimpses here and their career, and all of a sudden they're having this kind of breakout late in their career. I do trust Minor a little more, but both of them, I think, try to sell right now if you can. I don't know what you're gonna be able to get for them, Like I'm just looking at my home league points lee right now. Like players who are significantly below them who I'd rather have. I mean, they're all big names.
It's Jack Flaherty, we always talk about, Zach Wheeler, Carlos Carrasco, Aaron Nola. I mean, if anyone's freaking out about those pictures, obviously you'd rather have them. Even if David Price, who just came back off the I l of course you loved all right yesterday. So these are just some of the names. I'll throw them out there is like, can you flip them for that highly doubted but crazier things
have happened. What we had someone say they traded glass Now for Chris Sale right or something like that earlier on in the season. So crazy things happen in leagues. So you could also package the deal. Yeah, float float some of these guys out there well, I will say this, it's not impossible to kind of have this career renaissance later on in your career, Like look at Jay Hat. When Jay Hab first came up with the Phillies, he was you know, took the league by a storm. Everyone
was so excited about him. You know, he bounced around certain locations. And then the past couple of years with Toronto, you talk about a guy like in his mid thirties randomly starting to take off again. That was Jay Hab. Greg So, I don't think it's impossible that some of these pictures figure things out, but you're right it is probably unlikely. Who do you think it's the next same opportunity for Texas? I think it's Sean Kelly. I agree, Adventure.
I think it's Sean Kelly. He pitched. He pitched well before he came off, before he went on the I l for the most part. Although the clerks look good, I think they light the role that the clerks in right now. I don't think you want to mess with it. I think they give it a Sean Kelly. I agree with christ. The only reason I'll bring this up is because Floria willingly called himself out for it in our text change, so I feel like I could call him out now you can come for anything, you know that,
And you know I don't. I don't care at it. Of course he convinced us to pick up Chris Martin over Steve c Check. Yes, I also supported. It doesn't look great supported it. I'm pretty sure I was on team c Check. I picked him up in the man. Yeah, I thought he had a little bit more staying power. I mean, there's there's a lot of mounts there in Texas with the clerk, and now Sean Kelly is back, and I guess there's a lot in Chicago as well.
But a they're gonna win more games, and Becheck has done a pretty damn good job, so I think if he continues to do well, they might just leave him in the closed role for the rest of the season. That's kind of like pick your poison, you know. Yeah. And then with c Check last night, the Cubs had a savor opportunity. But the night before he went like what two and a third innings pitched, so he was
not available last night. And what happens, Brad Brock comes in to close the game out for the Cubbies, and he blows it that just further in trance to Steve Schick. And the best thing about that for the Cubs, as it really turns out when patro stroke if Peter Show comes back, when if Brandon morro goes back, looking after they go into that role has seemingly run away with it. How many times have we heard this before? Greg where oh, once this reliever is back from injury, he's no doubt
gonna take the closer role back. And they find someone who's performing so well in the role. And Patriot Strope had a ton of experience as a setup man anyway, So I don't think they're gonna mess with this. By the way, she's like quick for you here. Malex Smith had three strikeouts last night, up to one seventy two the average. So all right, so him and Jose Ramirez neck and neck for player of the year. There you go, um to Meckham, Chris is ninth homer here, you don't
have anymore right dropped him? Oh yeah, he's gone. I got Travis instead. He was three for four. He's starting to lose playing time to the team. Just called shed long back up as well. It looks like Ryan Healey might hit the I L So there's a lot of mouse here with TIAD and I think as the season goes along, they want to see what they have. And some of these young players j P crawl for shed long as well, so I don't really have a problem. Plus,
tattle Seeker is gonna be back soon too. And if you play in deeper leagues, I am stashing him in the Great Fantasy Baseball Invitation. I think I picked him up for like three bucks out of a thousand and past week. So if you're playing the deeper league AO only or like a fifteen team mix and you need a corner infielder, I think now is the time to statch Kyle Seeger. You're gonna be back within I believe the next week. Right. Elvis Andrew is also in the
same game. We heard he's on a rehab assignment starting today. He went on the last week with a hamstot injury. You thought that might have been three to four weeks. It looks like he could be back as soon as this weekend, if not next week, which means good news. It was Elvis Andrew's owners out there. Um he's been one of the survivor surprise shortstops. Of the season, certain ridiculous. Seegar comes back, will it be Beckham moving? I don't think.
I don't see JP Crawford holding down the shortstop job like Beckham. My Place show. They traded for him, right, so I think that they want to see what they have it. They technically traded for Beckham too, did they Did they sign him? No, they traded for him. They traded with Baltimore for who. Look, JAP Crawford is younger, you know that, and he did have not hitting well though, well you know Tim Beckham did that prospect pedigree too. But I'm sorry, you're right they signed him in January.
I apologize. So they traded for JP Crawford and that was part of that Jane Sigura trade. So I think, if anything, they want to see what they have in him. It might be a split, but I would imagine it's probably JP Crawford getting more of the point and Beckham. Beckham had five abbuys that last night. You're right, three for four, big, But like, can he keep doing it consistently? If he does, he could hold down that job. I think where to take a break. When we come back,
the Mets get a much needed victory over Patrick Corbyn. Finally, that was good. We mentioned one of our bets from yesterday when we get into today's bets, but also the other bet from yesterday, which was Mike Szarroka doing Mikesaroka things. We'll mention him and where he falls on the range. All your best thing pictures in the MLB when we were serience Fantasy best Friends Forever a fantasy sports right you network Daily rododo dot Com. Chris Ventra hanging out as well. We mentioned yesterday our favorite debts of the day were The Twins and the Under That was Mine and the Combo, and then Frankie's was Mike Saroca taking on the San Francisco Giants and Alsa Rocca did was once again be awesome. Eight hits, I'm sorry, eight hings, two hits, one run, struck out seven. The only run he allowed him on a Brandon Crawford solo shot in the sixth. Only one other hit other
than that. It was a marvelous performance. But because he allowed one run, his era actually went up slightly, which is crazy. The ear A now states at one point zero one coming on for the save Shaw on Newcomb after Luke j actually really pitched the day before. I don't know that's true as it is, but it's just thing unless really fell off. Mike Sarrocca five and one. Frank on the season. Mike Sarrocca is absolutely phenomenal. Man I tweeted out about this last night. I was not
being too hard on myself. I legitimately hated myself in that moment for not having Mike Sarrocca I can't believe it because I was one of the biggest guys even from last year, but I was worried during the spring, and I think that's one of my biggest lessons from the spring. Greggy is normally I don't like to have injury optimism for guys who are hurt during spring training. But if you look at a lot of the guys who were hurt, they're perfectly fine right now and they're awesome.
Lindoor has come back and has been great. Tommy fam has been awesome for the season. He was dealing with a shoulder thing. Marcelo Zuna, aside from scaling a wall and then falling off and looking ridiculous awesome for fantasy purposes. Walker Bueler not as great consistent. He's coming around, but
Mike Saroka was dealing with the shoulder injury. And all we kept hearing where the Braves have all these possible starting pitchers that could be in their rotation, all these different prospects, and they tried with this guy, and they tried with that guy, and to try with that guy, and then the one guy who they tried out who has stuck around the longest. Well, there's two. Max Freed has been great too, but Mike Saroka man and I knew how good he can be. His combination of command,
he has a four pitch mix that is legitimate. He gets groundball outs, he gets a decent amount of strikeouts. He's not ever gonna be a guy who's like Tan eleven case per nine. But he's up over eight so far this year, and he has allowed one earned run or less in all seven of his starts this season. And he's starting to give you length going deep into games as well. If you look at three of his last four starts, he's gone at least seven innings pitched.
Last night just absolutely masterful his first start of the season, where he didn't allow a single walk. He's just been ridiculous. At one point zero one e R the strand right, the strand rate is high, it's eight seven percent, and he has a two oh three bad like he's not going to be able to maintain some of these things. I realized that he's got a three six nine exfit.
I think when it's all said and done, we're probably looking at a low three's e r A. And I've had some people asking me, well, should I sell high on Mikesaroka. No, the answer is no. You watched the guy pitch with the fastball. He's got a changeup that's like twelve difference. I mean, that's the difference that you're looking for between a fastball and a changeup. And it's a really good changeup. And then he has a slider, Greg it looks like a curveball. I mean, it's like
a power curveball. The guy's got the complete package. The only thing that I would worry about him with him is that he's probably gonna be on an Endy's limit, like similar to a guy like Chris Paddock. But as much hype as Chris Paddock has gotten, Mike Saroka has been just as good, maybe even better. Well in a shorter time frame. Right, it's only even it was one starter, so more right pitch. But yeah, So Roca has seven and seven starts so far, he's got two thirds and
I have one second. Paddock has pitched one start, iras at one point three. They're both pretty good. I mean, you're you're splitting hairs here. But Paddock got blown up once I think recently, so it's not right to give him a pass. We'll give him a pass. But if you these two guys, especially and keep his leagues, you have to hold. The thing is obviously there's gonna be some regression for both of them. I mean both of them under a two e R A this one one
point one. Oh, that's impossible to sustained. But I would say that both of them will end up with even possibly even a high two e R. Not even low threes, maybe even high too. They're that good, both of them, like dominant with the control uh their stuff everything, like you said, both of them possibly even you know, future legitimate aces on major league teams for years to come. Both of them. Maybe Sirocca more of a deuce because he doesn't have the k upside you said, like a
paddock will, I think, but both. I mean, you can't ask for any more from both these guys right now. I got two of them on the same team, which is pretty crazy. But it's not gonna it's fun. It's not gonna be good at the end of the season. I'll tell you that. Yeah, I got I got serious, Pomo. When it comes to Mike, he was your boy all the last year, Frankie, he was your guy. Got hurt, struggled, finally healthy and obviously performing very very well for the
Atlanta Braves. They did look up when the last time Luke Jackson pitched. It was actually on Saturday. He did not pitch on Sunday, but he threw. He threw and blowing them that save. On Saturday. It was a second day in a row that he pitched, So getting two days off kind of makes sense. Any worry at all here with nucom kind of getting worked in. He's been much better as a reliever since he's come back. Well,
I will say this also on Saturday. Yeah, I mean they don't have to give him as much rest because he's more so stretched out to be a starting pitcher and he could throw a few more innings, throw a few more pitches, so we might see. As you know, these things changed when it comes to bullpens, like from one minute to the next, these things can change so quickly. So as much as we love Luke Jackson, and we said that he's been pretty good in the opportunities that
he's been given. And you know, I saw like there was a feature article written about him by I think it's who is it, David O'Brien, the writer for Atlanta whatever, athletic. But yeah, he were like a feature about Luke Jackson and how he's their closer. But I wouldn't be surprised if they kind of makes nukeomb in here, like if there's lefties coming up. Since he's gone to being a reaver reliever, his fastball velocity has gone up over two miles per hour he was normally sitting. Now he's he's
up around ninety five. So I mean you're starting to see the velo for Sean nucom and and he's performing quite well as a reliever too. Yeah, I'm intrigued by I like Nukem. I liked him last year. He was pretty good for the most part last year as a starter. He kind of tailed off at the end a little bit, and you know every other start he kind of get
blown up, wouldn't go deep into games. Well, I didn't expect him going to the bullpen this year, but listen, if he's in the bullpen, any starter that goes from a starter to the bullpen that was at least halfway decent or above the average as a starter is going
to be good in the bullpen. It's just easier to go one inning as opposed to five and you know, completely dominant, and you could actually go all out in that one inning and throw as hard as you can and really dominate for that one inning and focus on that. So I think Nwcomb could actually take over the closing role at some point here, like I would. I wouldn't be surprised if Luke Jackson starts to falter a little bit,
you know, does work. It does bear mentioning that we are about eleven days away until Craig Kimberroll is eligibly signed without draft pick compensation, And yeah, he can factor into the mix here for Atlanta as well or some other teams we spoke about s Scheck, I mean he could factor into the Chicago Cubs as well. Since returning Gregan on May six, has made seven appearances, has not allowed a run, has not a lot of walk, pitching very very well out of the bullpen for the Atlanta Braves. Frank,
why don't you turn around for everybody? Because yesterday was Glabor Day the New York Yankees, as it has been seemingly every single time that they have faced the Orioles this this season, Labor is ten home runs Chris against overall this season. Do you know how many of those will come against the Orioles. I think I heard you guys say this though everybody else. Eight eight out of his ten home runs this season has come against the Orioles, and they actually before his second home run the night
last night in the eighth inning. Yes, in a montage of all the home runs Glabor has hit this year against the Orioles. Next pitch gone off of Michael Gibbons last night? Who blew it? Uh? I watched this game and I was texting back and forth with you, Frank. The Orioles maybe the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Like I was saying before the season, I think they're over under for wins was fifty nine. Last year they won forty seven. I said, how is this number? Like?
How are people not pounding this under? How are the like they're they're legitimately they may be the worst team I have ever seen in my life. And I'm not kidding, like I understand the overall. Yes, I understand you have bad hitters, and I understand you have bad pictures that that happens, but their inability in the field, He's like, ridiculous. I will explain. Did you watch the game in the last night, Christion. But but like I gotta talk about
white Smith for a moment. Right was hitting great though he is three for five last night. Dwight smiths look great. The problem was in left field. Dwight Smith caught a ball that there was the second and third one out right, Brett Gardner's at third base. That's a kind of speed that's out there. Dwight Smith catches one in left field. What the right play is you throw it to third because it was a deep play ball. You were not getting Gardner coming home. Right, did you see this? Or no?
Oh my god, Okay, okay, Dwight Smith catch the ball. Arn't Hicks sits it to the left field. The proper baseball player, he throws the third to the runner can advance or maybe you get it down. Dwight Smith throws it into the dugout. I don't think he was trying to do that. He airmails it. He wasn't trying to third the third trying to throw it home. He airmails it and it goes essentially all the way into the dugout.
I think, obviously cameraminating advance is the third base obviously extremely not even anything in the ninth fitting, but dude does the same thing. He did it twice, same situation. He airmails it again. Runners advanced, the runner did score, but runner advanced. Oh my, what are you doing? And then it gets worse. Did you watch the ninth the ninth ning, Frank I did not. Okay, do you know what happens other than Gary Sanchez? H right, that's the
eight thing. So the ninth inning, Yankees tied up seven seven. There's a runner on third two acts Luke Void three two cats to him right. Michael Gibbons throws the pitch. Luke Void pops it straight up like straight up, okay, slams his bat on the ground. Camera Mayban, who's on third base again running comes, I mean comes home, right, it's it's it founds a right to it, right. Hadri Sevorino, the Orioles catcher, throws the mask and it goes like this.
It was like this, and the ball lands over there. Not even I am not exaggerating at all. It is worth going to watch, gentlemen. Is this the real life embodiment of the bad News bear? Legitimately goes like this and the ball lands over there. Next pitch is found the way next pitch voit walks. Garrison just comes up for your own bombed Yankee. They should have been out of the inning. It was a foul pop up right behind home plate. His ball easily, no one else, no one.
Those like this waives everybody aloft like he has it lands over there. I have never seen a worst organization than what the Orioles did. Like with the Yankees bad feelings, we talked about that, but this is embarrassing. Man, and listen, Luke Void had a bad pop up drop earlier in the game, but this was a joke. I will find
it for you, gentlemen during the break. You can't find it yourself because there's not an aspect of the Orioles that is even like it's not even the farm system either, Like you don't really have much to look forward to either. Understand they have used Neil d As he was the big piece that they got back in the Manny Machado trade. But I said this last year. I said this during the preseason as well, when we were talking about using Neil Diaz. I can't believe at the Orioles couldn't get
more for Manny Machado than they did. I kind of feel like they got fleeced because the Dodgers have all these prospects. You're telling me you couldn't get Manny Machado, I mean man Machado Superstar. I understand it was a rental, but you couldn't give Verdugo. You couldn't get like Julio your Rya is somebody. He was still coming off injury at the time. So even like they have used Neil Dz, I like Ryan Mountcastle a lot as well, and I think he's gonna be here sooner rather than later. And
I like Austin Hayes. So you have some young hitters that you might be able to build around. And I understand you probably more so want to care about offense with a team that plays in Camden Yards, and you want to pitching, but they don't really have much pitching to look forward to. Maybe these guys developed well, but like, who was the last great Orioles starting pitcher that they developed? Greg That was a long time ago. Oh no, Eric Bdard was not. He was he started, he started, was
gonna trade to the Mariners. Yes, he wasn't even great either, but I mean and he was good for the Orioles. I'm just named the Orioles that but that's like, that's what I'm telling Like they couldn't develop him, took the Cubs to develop. Well, it was supposed to be, right, it was supposed to be Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gallasman and Chris Tilman, like those three guys were supposed to
lead them into the future. Just a weird spot, and I think they're going to continue to, you know, sell some pieces off here, Like whatever you can get for a guy like Johnny VR, you could get for for a tree Man Seny Blowser's that was bad. Oh, that was awesome. Yeah, they don't really have to top prospects either, Like it's just they don't what did they get from? Like what did they got? They got used Neil Ds it, Yeah, I mean I'm sure they got like a few other
like lesser prospects and maybe these guys can develop. But I used Neil das this year at double A A everybody hitting two it's one five with one homer read doubles seven ribbies with a b P. Yeah, they might have tos in double A using neil ds main piece of the many Mattado trade. They need to like revamp their whole scouting you know, no work they did in the off season. I'm pretty sure they made huge front
office changes, right, Greg, didn't they like they changed everybody? Yeah, so they have still organizational problem and they got rid of their manager. Obviously, they got rid of their general manager of president baseball operations, who was Dan Duquette. So they brought in a new president. But he comes from the ownership where Peter Angelo has never really wanted to spend money and now his sons are running it. But you don't know, like know which son is. Brady Anderson
has a lot of influence there. It's like, ultimately they ended up choosing to spend on Chris Davis rather than there has there has been. Yes, they ultimately did Brendon Hides there. They're just not enough talent. There's just not enough talent as Oriels team, and Frank you mentioned it. There's just tell you there's hope in a moment, there isn't hope. We and we've seen it time and time again. I Mean, the Astros were the worst team in baseball by far for years and then they got the number
one pick. A couple of years in a row or three years in a row, and but now, I mean, this is gonna be like a long standard. It's gonna be one of those five It's gonna be one of those five year rebuilds. But that's the thing though, the Astros actually had like they did well scouting their prospects, that got good prospects. Yes, they had first picks for many years in a row, but they turned this team completely around. But it took it took a one like
four years, right something like that. They were they were really bad. Oh I remember when they were when they when they were from the n L to the a L, is when they were really bad. Basically one they got rid of Berkman. That was like the end of the Astros right time they were good. That was like the Orioles that they were remembered they were, they used to have meals. He used to be one of their Actually,
it actually started even worse than we remember, Chris. So it started when they're the n L. So back in two thousand and uh two eight they went eighty six and seventy five, finishing third division, right, So that was the end of the era. That was the end of the era. Before that finished fourth like I was, before that finished seconds that was the end of the era.
Was two thousand eight, two thousand nine and central, seventy four and eight, two thousand and ten, seventy six and eighty six rock bottom, so we thought, was two thousand eleven still in the end. By the way, fifty six and one oh six. A year later, they're even worse. Fifty five and one oh seven their first year in a O West, even worst, fifty one and one eleven. They were laughing. They were the stock of baseball for
five years. A year later seventy and ninety two starting to turn around there, and then twenty fifteen they turned it around. When eighty six and seventy six, that was the year I believe they beat the Yankees in the wild Card game. Year stretched, they were horrible. It was the Stretchers won two, three or five five years before you saw progress. Really sick. That's five year looking at maybe worse. Who knows. They don't have prospects. To take

One's head on the road in Toronto, I believe, Gabes said earlier, the first time the Raptors have been home dogs all

Chris Milwaukee. I've like Milwaukee since the beginning to Actually, yeah, I like Milwaukee tonight as well. Grey heard Gabe talking
about this. He said, Uh, the Milwaukee Bucks are twenty one and one coming off a loss this year straight up in their eighteen and four against the spread, So that just shows you they have a lot of resiliency, Like once they lose a game, they bounced back. And you kind of saw that in the Celtics series where they got punched in the mouth early on. They lost that first game, won the next four in a row. So I think they kind of needed another wake up
call here from Toronto. And I think Milwaukee bounces back. Remember Jesson, we scored twelve points in that game and it took double overtime and a herculean effort from Kawhi Leonard in order to win that game. So just does anything like what we're used to seeing from him, then they probably win this gentleman sweetly. By the way, my my friends, my friends were looking at during March madness,
I think we're around there maybe a little after. They were looking at the odds to win the NBA championship, right, and they sell the Bucks. At the time, it was plus eight hundred. They're like the Bucks like probably the best team in the East, had the best record in the NBA. Where did they rank among all the teams that like? I believe it was third behind the Warriors and the rock I don't know the Rockets probably, so
I believe they were third. But there were plus eight hundreds of time, and my buddy was really in the basketball like this. This is a crazy number because they the best record in the NBA, and the East is not. They don't have to go through Golden State in Houston, a gat there and if they get to the finals, they'll take your shot against Golden State. By the time you put the bet in at the Vandal sports book, it went down to plus seven fifty. But all my
friends basically I didn't do it. I'm an idiot. But because the Bucks are not winning it, you could hedge it. Now they're not. They make it sure that they to them. It's not going to make money off it if you hedge anyway, because you have to put down so much
for the world. Do remember the Warriors, the Bucks of home court advantage that But so they all put like about a hundred bucks on it each like they can walk away with nice, nice windings and then walking can I mean, there are two games away from making with the finals. Would I think it would be a fun series against Golden State, But I don't think they realistically. Do you think they need Kevin Durant back to win eight? Geez? It would make each No, do you have anything for tonight,
we'll go. So there's one thing I like that I knowed. We we mentioned this briefly because we were excited about our pats. Uh, there's one thing we both like. There's there's if I have to choose my own, I will I'll go first. So we were talking about this a little bit downstairs. And the one that really stood out to me this morning, Uh, I was on the bus. I was looking through some of the lines for today and the Tigers going up against the Marlins. This game
is in America. I really like the total here at seven and a half, and I realized that it's a low number, but like the undergrad, you're looking at two teams that are twenty nine and thirtieth and run scored this year in the Tigers and the Marlins, and Caleb Smith and Spencer Turnbull both have sub three e R rays. So I think we're in for a pitching clinic tonight. Yeah. I also take the under there, even though it number at seven and a half. I also I also like
Spencer turn Bowl and the Tigers in this game. In general, it's completely a toss of it's pick him game is really good. He is really good, but both Fends are really bad. So that's kind of my thought. The other game, I like, I know this is weird, but Joe n was talking about it this morning. I'll make it rain. I like the Padres Matt Strom tonight against the Arizona
Diamonbacks and Zach Grinky. Griggy left that last last start with something kind of wrong with him, and I wonder if he has a little bit of debilitating effects from that, Like he's extra cautious, something like along those lines. So I like the Padres money line and listen, Vegas is onto this too. Over at the at the Fantal Sports Book.
They're both sitting at my just went away. So I'm not against that, but it's one of those things where you kind of look like that kind of seems weird given that it's grinky and strong because that I like Matt Strom and I like the Padres tonight. That's a that's me. You got anything that you like adventure? I haven't really looked all right, It's fine, there you go. So our picks tonight Marlins and Tigers under mine is
Matt strong and the Padres against the Dimebacks. I have to give you a second one I'll take the Tigers in that Marlins game as well. There you go. Those are three tonight. Those are your best that's ever here on the BFFs parrently three. Now keep it going out here, Grady, Let's see if we can keep it rocking and rolling. Let's go back to last night, gentlemen, for a moment where Carlos Carrasco did not give you the quality start.
He went five inutings like the last seven, hits, three runs, striking out at four while walking to Fred Anderson actually out pitched them. Lucavino let up a run, as did Blake trying, but he ultimately got his eighth save of this season. By the way, Frank, tell them the look now, Oh well, man got five outs last night, fourv the strikeout, his ear a sins at one point six nine. You
know what we're talking about. That would be the phenomenal. Hey, Jay Cole, all right, well, this is just another weird infatuation that Gregor has really, really bad major league baseball player. So I'm gonna completely ignore what you just said and talk a little bit about Carlos Carrasco and why I think right now is a really good buying opportunity for him. Before this start, he had gone to star in a row where he went twelve innings, didn't allow a run.
Both starts were against the White Sox, and here against the Oakland A's didn't have his best stuff. I was watching a lot of this start. Five innings, three earned runs, four point three zero e r A, which is basically in line with what we normally get from him in the first half in his career. In the first half, Charlos Carrasco four point zero four e r A in the second half three point three seven. He's just a guy that gets better as the season goes along. I
owned him last year. That was the case last year as well. And if you look at the underlying numbers for Carrasco, they're all really damn Anybody in your league is freaking out about Carlos Krasco. He's got a four point three zero ear A, three six two FIP, three point to five x fit over eleven case per nine. If the season ended today, that would be a career high. One point five five walks per nine. If the season ended today, that would be a career low. There's lots
of like about Carlos Carrasco. If someone's freaking out nap, I'm all over that. Totally, totally agree with that as well. There was no love it soft for a J Cole. It happens. I guess Matt Olson Frank fourth homer of the year, Matt Chapman Frank eleventh homer of the season. Matt Chapman had been a little bit cold recently. I actually got a few tweets yesterday about match Chapman. What's going on? Man, Um, he's been cold. I can't necessarily
but aunces back yesterday, multi hit game, two hits, three ribbys. Um, I think this is gonna happen. I think he always kind of was overperforming a little bit when he was hitting over three. Remember this was a guy who struggled mightily with strikeouts in the minor leagues, and he was more of like a hit for low average but hit for power kind of guy, like a two thirty two forty hitter in the minors that would hit like thirty bombs. So I was never realistically expecting a three batting average
from him. I still think he'll be better than two sixty four. But Ventura, I think if you drafted Chapman you still have been puzzle be surprised he's giving you tho far. Yeah, you're still very happy. I mean because he started so hot and so good, Like you're like, oh, he's getting cold now, and you're upset obviously, But this is what you uh, this is what you paid for for.
I mean, you know you did. You got a kind of a discount on him on draft day, and yeah, he's gonna cool off a little bit because he's not gonna hit three hundred. He's not that type of guy. He's giving you eleven homer, he's got eleven doubles, twenty seven abuis. He's doing everything you wanted for where you drafted him. So don't panic about, you know, him cooling off a little bit yesterday to foward a home or
through ours. That's what you want to see. As long as he could keep the cold streaks to a minimum, he'll be fine. Yeah. And looking at the underlying numbers, last year, three thirty eight babbit for Matt Chapman led to a two seventy eight batting average. This year a two sixty five babbit as let's wait, two sixty four batting average and interesting, it's not like he's hitting a
ton of flyballs. Normally, if you see a guy who's hitting a lot of flyballs or hitting a lot of home runs, uh, that means you're probably gonna have a low babbit. But is flyball rate last year thirty roe point three percent this year forty point eight percent, so that's not really out of whack. And his hard hit rate still really good last year forty three points percent this year forty eight but still really be good. So I would expect both the babbit and the batting average
to jump up here. He's lowered his strikeout rate tremendously last year twenty three point seven percent, this year fifteen point nine. So this is part of the natural progression that I was talking about before the season when we did the third base preview, that he took huge steps forward last year, and it looks like from a plate disciplined perspective, he's taken even more step forward, more of a step forward this year. I would expect the batting
average to get even better. Yeah, yeah, not to mention, he's also twenty seven times so far this year as well, Yeah, eleven point six percent walk create that's also up two percent from last year as well, so just making massive improvements at the plate. For MATCHA, Jose Ramira is still batting under two hundred. As we get towards June one seven, the average sits j Ramirez at the movie he has a two hit games goes up to one crazy seven.
Absolutely go on a crazy test soon. Gotta come at this point he's played so much and where it's not impossible because we saw what he did last year to start the season, like those first two months, first three months, he was ridiculous. It was almost I think he was almost a thirty thirty player in the first half. I sear Greg it's how ridiculous he was. So we know what he's capable of when it when it comes to like going on a hot treat, and he still is
giving you twelve stolen basis. So for all the bad that he's done, well stolen bases is great. But I think overall, if you were expecting a I drafted him a few places and I like, I'll as soon as I draft someone like, I'll put in projections to see where like my Rhodo standings are at, and I was probably expecting like a two eight batting average. He's not going to get there s something like crazy, miraculous. Even if he goes on a run like hell, he'll probably
get it up to like two best. But what you were expecting coming into the season, we are not going to get from Hoss. But if he does get to like two sixty or even a little higher than that, that means he had a great second half. From your out, that means he's probably gonna hit. So you don't want to get rid of you don't want to sounding stats by the end of the season are not gonna look good because if teen rb I s seven team runs scored four home runs on one, I mean he would
have to do something miraculous. He's capable, capable, But based on the way he's struggling with breaking balls again and what he showed last year in the second half struggling against breaking balls, I don't really have faith that that's going to happen again. Quickly, guys, moving only about five minutes ago. In the program for the Astros last night,
brat Pecott continued to pitch very very well. He allowed just two hits over his five and his of work, which is the annoying part because he didn't throw anyone pitches despite not walking anybody, struck out nine batters. Bullpen for Houston was particularly excellent. Run uh Roberto being up his twelveth saved on the other side of the White Socks. Nothing really to speak about as Ryan Pressley gone like dings or something like that without a run. He he's
quite good. Zero despicious year also has two saves whenever they need to give Roberto as soon a day off. Look, I mean I drafted him in our safe plus holds league. He was one of the top relievers to grab in that format just because he is lights out as a reliever. Brad Peacock Now, since getting blown up on May second against the Twins, Greg He's gone seventeen innings, pitched one earned run in with twenty four strikeouts. So Brad Peacock
has been very good since getting blown up. Something Colin mckugh was not able to do so at least one of those pictures. Similar. Range has been able to right the ship. And we said this all along, like he's not gonna give you he's not gonna go deep into games. He's not gonna give you a lot of quality starts because they kind of limited him to five innings a lot of the time, but roto he'll take it. Yeah, yeah,
of course we will. Absolutely Yeah. Tyler White, by the way, finally gets on the board with his first one, first home run. Thanks Buddy, Happy, you came, Happy showed up and the Mets win. I mentioned exactly where I was going, and amazingly, the Mets finally get away font on them against the Nationals. They have no fifth starter at the moment, as when we're five to get the start. The person that they announced was going to start the game early on was Drew Gagnon, who pitched as the follower in
this one. UH pitch to shutout innings there for the Mets, Patrick Corbyn, they finally get to him. Five innings, six hits, four runs, walk three, struck out seven. Pete Alonso had a really long home run in the first inning. Azario also hit his UH hit his fourth home run in the first inning of this one. A lot of damage there, of course against Patrick Corvin. Here for the Nats, Anthony Rendon hit his ninth home run of the year. For Rendon batting three forty two with the OBP of four
thirty three. Remember Anthony Bardon a free agent after this season. Complete beast. Yeah, we'll see what happened our m v P Frank, our m v P pick. Look, if you didn't get hurt, he's stilled any three forty two. I understand he plays in the same UH league as Cody Bellinger and Christian Yellot, so his opportunity for the m v P is probably gone. But because of the counting stead, he still can't be awesome for fantasy, and I expect
him to do just that. For Patrick Corbin, this was the fourth time already this season that he faced the New York Mets. I would think the more time can you face a team, the more it favors the He seen so many times and so he's been absolutely dominant. His last time out was against the Mets. Eight innings pitched with eleven strike aus. So I kind of give Patrick Corban a little bit of a pass. And he's been so good. Even after this start where he allows four and runs in five innings, he has a three
point to five yar a venture. I kind of give him a pass here. Yeah, absolutely. I mean he's been as advertised where you drafted him, be a happy way you got him. He's been exactly as he was last year, he's got the k rate up like it was last year, right, maybe not as high, right, just but still above acape rading um. And yeah, consistent as they come. This was It wasn't even that bad of a start. He at
seven ks, so I'm not gonna worry about that. What I am worried about is Victor Robles really cool and off lately to forty four batting average and just doing really not much of anything lately. I know he's got a homes, eight bags, but are you worried about Victor rob At least you got the eight homers and eight bags, so he's contributing it. Yeah, he's in a slump, but the young players slump. I'm not worried because we're getting what you need, which is the home runs and the
Steelers that combination. That's why he draft Or Robles. Yeah, I want to see more batting average. I spoke about this a little bit last week that like, the underlying numbers for Victor Roblests were not great, but you took it because you were still getting eight homers, eight stolen bases, and thirty runs scored. But the hard hit rate is twenty one percent. League average is like low thirties percent percentage and he's had last year he was at thirty
five point four percent. And uh, the strikeout from last year to this year this year six point nine and the walker it has gone down to, like walking numbers for Victim Robust are just not great right now. So to answer your question, venture, I am a little bit worried about him. Um, he still had this interesting mix in terms of that power speed combination, but I mean the batting averages coming down in a major way. He's hitting under two thirty in the month of May, and
that's the problem. If you can't bat to forty and two thirty, if you're a guy that doesn't even get on base with the walks much, you're gonna get yourself into a lot of zero point games, you know as in fantasy for us, and that's not good. He needs to bat for hot a much high average in that, like two eight plus. The good thing for him is they don't really have anyone to replace him with, so
he'll get it shot. Playing time is fair. Yeah, And speaking of playing time and getting an opportunity harder key boom, let's remember the name living for thirty five with four home coming, we need for Chris venture in frank Stample. We'll see tomorrow. We hope fix
