You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Fantasy best Friends Forever. Well to the Fantasy best Friends Forever. Happy Monday, everybody. Frank standfell here joined with my guy Matt Modica. At some point we'll get Greg su today speaking of the devil. Here he comes, Gregg Susman here, Mattie moo. How's the weekend? Man? How's everything going? Everything's going good? Uh? Game of Brons we're down to one and done now, so you know
it's said that it's coming to an end. Then there's a lot of controversy over this or that, but I've enjoyed it for the for the most part. And welcome and Gregus mean, how did you sleep last night? Buddy? For one? Huh, what's up? For one for one on the week. I wish you were just maybe just give your heads up, Greg, you because I always think about the thing is always would be here for it, and then I'm not that that's the issue that's on me.
I did not sing without you, naturally, little if you don't hear singing, you know, Greg Susten, because I'm just not gonna do like a solo act without you. I slept. I need the base of your voice, Gregg to say, I don't think that's I don't you ever call this basse? But that's okay. Well whatever, how do I sleep? I slept at the trouble getting to sleep. I had thrones on the mind. We'll talk about that in a second. Obviously, I open technically traditionally opener Monday shows. Um, so I
had I guess throws in my mind. I was going through all these I guess scenarios in my head, but it wasn't really about the show. I think it smell like I was involved in the scenarios. These are really hot, my vegers. I once I opened the window, got some fresh air in there, and I passed it. It's really cold last night, so it was nice. So first of all complaining about the weather in New York City. Again, that's what you do. That's what I have, That's what
I do. Um Friday and Saturday, awesome, awesome weather. Yesterday forty degrees in raining, disgusting. Today Saturday was so beautiful. Degree was so beautiful too. What are we doing? Man? What is going on right now? Friday and Saturday? And stop with the air conditioner on, Greg the first time, My air isn't even running. And then you let the window open and nearly froze again. So that's just man, this is why people get sick. Man. It's like this
weather is crazy right now. Yeah, it's it's it's ridiculous. Saturday was so nice and then Sunday was so gross, and today is so cold. We're in a sweater. We're in a winter sweater right now. Yeah. I had to go back to long sleeves today too. We're back. We're back anyway. So yeah, So last night I was dreaming basically about scenarios, so sort of Game of Thrones and stuff like I was involved in it naturally, that's where my head was. I have a spinning Now what do
you think? What do you think? How are you feeling? This morning. Look, I mean I I liked it. I thought it was everything that you know, they led up to everything that happened then transpired in that episode, you know, with you know, everything that was going on and earlier in that show. My biggest gripe will always be that George Ard Martin never completed the books. I tweeted out this morning that the last book was published July twelve of eleven, and we've pretty much been waiting for the
you know this for over eight years. Yeah, so I get it. I've been saying all season that it feels rushed, um obviously, and my complained when two weeks ago when when Danny's lost the Dragon and she didn't blow up the Iron Fleet, like why did you just blow a fire from joe Gan and then she just did that, Like why did you just do two weeks ago? But nevertheless, I enjoyed the episode. I thought it was really it was beautiful and obviously well shot. I was gorgeous. The
cinematography was incredible. The way that they shot like everything that was going on in the city from the ground, especially like Aria to like the cutting back and forth between Aria and the Hound, I thought was like, really, well done too. A lot of people freaking out about this is the worst season of all time. I think at this point people are just trying to find anything wrong with the show that they possibly can, which is said because you know, we've all invested so much time
and energy and emotion into this show. So you know, like I just enjoy it for what it is at this point. Obviously we all wish that there were more seasons. I mean, even George R. Martin has said that he wished that there was more seasons. I think he actually is a little bit upset about it as well. I mean, but the thing is to keep a show going for this long, it's takes a lot of effort, not only from the writers but from all the actors and actresses
that are involved. Like, they all have other lives too, They all want to move on and do other things. So it kind of feels like we're getting kind of
shorthanded here, get some some short changed rather. But hey, if you want more, I guess that's why you read the books, right if they come out when they come out, hopefully, um and you know, just kind of piggybacking off what Matt said regarding the books too, you know, people are killing the writers right now for the show, and they do have other things, like they're going to be in charge of Star Wars after this, so they might just
want to get get this over with. But they've had to come up with wrapping up this entire series, which has so much going on in over the past two years. George R. Martin has had like to write it. He said, like as long as he wants, basically, so he has that in his back pocket. He has more time and an effort to put into this. And obviously, like I don't want to use the word easier, but it's easier to write than it us to like put all these things together on screen production wise too, So there are
a lot of moving parts. I thought it was really good when I actually thought about it last night. I came in here today, I told you, like, man, I'm actually like really getting emotionally invested. So maybe the writing thing isn't so bad after all. But um, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it overall. But those were those are a lot of thoughts in my mind. Guy's just stop hating on it. Let's just let's just enjoy for what it is. Yeah,
So I listen I agree with Matt. They were kind of leading right up to this, you know, and it was it wasn't exactly a surprise that what happened, like she became the mad Queen. We knew it was coming. They had telegraphed and not a bad way from the beginning of this season. Now there's a take away some of the stuff that had we had seen now for the last seven years where she was like had a heart, yes, but the response to that she lost everybody, right, and
we were just talking about this down there. She's nothing last she's nothing. And most importantly, the whole basic storyline of Game of Thrones is danny struggle not to become her father and people advising her not to burn everything to ashes and John Snow and his you know, his character are those are really the two most essential points of the show and how everything maps out. So my biggest great with the seasons, and I'll say real quick, was season one. The last three episodes or the last
four episodes are a one hour in twenty minutes. Season Episode one could have been an extra twenty five minutes. That could have been episode two right there, and we could have slowly walked in a little and made made a better build up, I'll say that. But last night's episode, I thought it was really well well done. I enjoyed it. I thought it was the way it had to go
at that point. I liked it. I really did, Like I hope people on Twitter or a blaze about this freaking out everyone's again and it's like wrestling fans Greg. It's like everyone finds something to hate about last night, and at this point people just want to hate it, which is the saddest part of every thing. But overall, as soon as the episode ended, I felt a little underwhelmed. I was like, all right, I see it felt like more should have happened, or maybe it was a little
bit too predictable. But then like later as the night went on, I started thinking about things and like where Denias started to where she is now is like this is really messed up. And I actually started like feeling some type of way. So the Battle bat Battle of Winter felt like I was standing up like palm sweating the whole deal. I didn't have that last night. I wasn't he was worried about anybody I really cared about. They did. John wouldn't die last night. They already wouldn't
die last night. I know you were a little bit nervous about that, but nobody cared about You don't really care abou anybody anymore. At this point, I thought that the way Jamie and so she went, I thought that was perfect everybody. Yeah, so bigger and better. She refused to leave. She never thought that they would come in her mind, and it ended up for Jamie the way he wanted it to end up. The it's a perfect way. They come into the world together, they leave the world together.
That it was a fitting end too. And it's not like they all they just went down there to die, because if you remember, he was trying to escape, but all like the rocks and stuff had piled up, so ultimately he was trying to do with Terrian told him to do. He's like, get out of here, goes start a life somewhere else and do whatever. But it didn't. It didn't happen that way. So yeah, it was just pretty ironic. It was like poetic justice. I guess, you know,
come into the world, lead the world together too. I understand that everyone wanted, like Searcy to have some kind of fear, some crazy death, like it has to be from Aria or Denis or something like that. But I thought it made sense. Yeah, you know, I get it, It made sense. I wanted somebody to I wanted somebody to get the revenge in the searcy. I really did. And that was that was part of the annoying me.
The most that we didn't get, we didn't get that was taken from us my opinion, that was my problem. And then I know the other thing people are killing thrones over today, Matt the white horse at the end for Aria, like there's nobody left Aria and a white horse, Like, I know there's some symbolism there. I didn't really get it though, Yeah, no, I I tho't that was actually a good ending. The only thing it was mission was like a little John Denver take me home because she rode.
But now look, I didn't have a problem with that. I thought it was kind of cool how Arias sees all the devastations she survived, you know, everything falling upon her, watching people get burned up, and I'm excited to see how what would happen is this final episode when John has to you know, basically when who come down to John has to take then Arius out of power. He knows he was wrong now and he must make that move. He he does, but will he that he you know,
I don't. I don't know that he will. I don't know he does. And he goes back beyond the Wall or something those starts up the night to watch again. That's the other thing, that he could just go back there and just be like, I don't want to deal with this crap. I'm hang out with Torman. Beyond the Wall still feels like so much needs to happen and
we only have one episode of left. Like that's probably my biggest issue with everything, is I wish we just had like five more episodes this season, or just the normal like earlier, the earlier season's World War all ten episodes. Like if we just had the normal ten episodes, that would be enough time to really kind of tell the rest of this story that budget got blown up with because remember, like the earlier battle down in Kings Landing, they didn't even show that you just sure, you just
try and wake up. But he had the acting on his face and all that. So I mean, I love you, Frank. I'm totally we need more. We need more, Greg, alright, mat So I'm about to order the box set, like right after this, I have an Amazon gift card. So what do we think happen? I'm gonna try to prolong not talking about baseball for the five minutes, but I mean we probably should. We only have on one Monday of doing this. That's true, it is only one more. So what what do you think happens Frank next week?
Um Man, it's a great question. Um there's gonna be some kind of some kind of crazy one on one moment between John Snow and Denarius where like everything kind of just like crumbles, probably ends up killing her or something. I don't know that he ends up on the Iron throne. I don't think he wants it. Maybe we get like Sanza or like Kyrian, maybe both of them together. Maybe there's just no more Iron throne left, like we don't
have to worry about that. They'll just kind of create a new way to rule the kingdoms or something like that. But I do think Danny goes out. Danny. Think Danny goes out and there no one ends up the Iron Yeah, like maybe just like a new way to rule or something like that. Like, let's not everyone has always been fighting for the Iron throne as long as we can remember. How about just no more iron throne something like that. So see what happens. Not your prediction, sir. I do
think Danny ultimately does. I think that's just you know, I think that's what's culminated to. Uh is it John that takes her out or area? I don't think John are Arias should on the iron throne. I'm kind of with maybe it's a Sanza. You know, it's gonna be somebody. I think we you know that everybody expected John or Danny at the end, which I don't was way too predictable for this show. He can't end that way. I hope it doesn't end that way. And uh so, yeah,
somebody different. And I don't see Brand because she's the three yard raven now. So a lot of people are saying today that doing that, it's not a lot of people thought that Brand was controlling the horse too, like he walked into the horse and brought it. I've not seen that. That would be cool. That would be that would answer a lot of questions. That'd be cool, that'd be cool what you got, Greg? I wanna ultimately, I want more Brand next week, like like he's that's another
thing too. If we don't really know anything about him, Like that's where it comes into, like all I read the books and you can hopefully get some backstory about him because we don't really know anything. Like we've had a few like major scenes where like he looks into the past and stuff, but like we don't know the extent of his power. We have gotten there him more basically since he left the Freak Guy Raven the original three Ravens and we saw we have we haven't he
anything from him? Yeh, he hasn't got anything. Yeah, well he worked into a few Ravens like during the Battle Winter and did nothing. I'm curious to see if it will reveal the conversation that he had an episode two by the Fire with and I think that was a crucial. I don't know how it was. I don't know that it was. I think I would be with you, Matt, like I want to know more about the conversation. But I feel like we're pasted it and then we're not
going back. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna get anything. Terrian's gotta die, right, He's gotta I think so. I don't know how Danny isn't killed him yet. He talked about this. Sorry, I messed up again. I was wrong. Why Dad? How many? How many duelvers does this guy get? Yeah, exactly like our Floria. He just got screwing up over and over and over again. We just kept him on the show. Like this guy it is. It is wild that the last remaining Lantis there is Tyrian, unless unless
brand is pregnant with another lattis there. Oh I don't know. I hadn't thought about that, but I did. I didn't realize that Tyrian was the last one too. Maybe maybe you know who knows. I'd like to see more of Gendre. I think this chance already just says this and goes hangs out with Gendri and Storm's end. You know, it's like, oh, I've seen enough like death and my life good. I'm good. I'm a person. I don't want to be about death anymore. I'm about to be about the limiting. I want to
go hang out with my boyfriend. And Storm's end makes sense. That's what I thought originally. Yeah, after reading like book three, I thought it would be genuary and are ruling part of it for now? That how long does it take you to read these books? Because I want to get into it. You know, I don't like to read, man, That's the thing is, I don't like. I want to read an audio book of it. That's what That's what I need, man, like an audio recording, because like I
just don't like to read. That's what it comes down to. What I would recommend is just buy. If you have an I Pad, you buy it on that you read it at night bed, and that was the best way to do it. They are very long. It's not like you know something you banging out a couple of days, at least not for me. I should. I tried to read the first book, Greg, and I got about halfway through, mind you, halfway through this book is like three pages
and I'm not a reader like that. That was already the most that I've already read, like ever in one book. So I'm gonna try again, Man, I gotta try again because I need more. I don't like this happens with You'll Get You'll Get Off. I go on read it. I read everything that I need to know about it, Like I just get so emotionally invested that like I need more detail right now and show as good as the job that they are doing. Because I think they're
they're doing the best with what they have. I need more. That's why area in the hound. Yeah, Torman Brand Tim, all right, we're done with throwing until next week. It should be fun when we go back. It always works in the favor of the employer weekdays to the four pm Easter and on the Fantasy Sports Network and on your popular podcast provider is Fantasy Best Friends Forever Fantasy Sports Radio Network. I want to fly. That's Frank Stample. What song is this because it sounds like something you just fine what
you want down. What's been gregy big weekend fantasy baseball. Lots of fab bidding last night as well. Where do you want to start. Let's start with the main event, right, That's that's where we typically start, the main event. That's where it's Frank and Matt in it together. How much times are going for um the players that people are in all the most and we'll see what Matt and Frank both thought. All the bids. The highest price bid it looks like this week in the main event it
was for John Meets a week and waving wire. Uh. John Means went for a hundred and fifteen dollars back twenty three. So somebody who overspent a little bit John means, you like to buy it? I get it. I just and even Andrew Cashing has pitched very well over the last month. It's been multiple stocks for him as well. I just really don't see myself being in the Baltimore
Orioles starting pitching business. A shout out to Frank and uh for Frank and his teammates, yes, for being sitting on the throne in that league right now, sitting on the iron Throne, I dropped like this week and that one, this guy long season. Yeah, I'm not I'm not here to count my chickens yet, but it's it's going well so far and and and it's all going on without Aaron Judge too, so it makes me feel a little bit better. But hopefully he can get healthy and and
um see where we pick it up from there. But ultimately, you know, drafting Cody Bellinger, I think a lot of people who have Bellinger are are doing pretty well right now in their respect of leagues. And honestly, kind of lucked into Bellinger. It's not really someone he wasn't really an active target of mine. To me, he was just best hitter available in the third round. I knew I wanted to go a hitter at that point, and he was the best one available. Honestly, I wanted Anthony marendone more,
but he didn't make it to me. So I ended up with Bellinger. And that's why things are sitting pretty right now. I do not agree with Matt. I mean, I like John Means and now I had a small bid on him. I had multiple small bids on him across my leagues this weekend. But I think the runner up bid of twenty is probably closer to what he should go for or what he should be valued at. I could see going as high as maybe like a forty dollar forty something dollar bit if you really needed
starting pitching. And he has pitched well but ultimately still does pitch in Camden. UH doesn't get a ton of swings and mrs doesn't get a ton of strikeouts either, and and the winds could be hard to come by pitching for Baltimore. So I thought the d and fifteen dollar bid was a little bit of an overspend. But if you really need starting pitching. UM. The person who picked up John Means dropped Match Shoemaker, So it seems like they might have had some injuries on their team.
So I guess that's why they wanted to be a little bit more great a shoemakers still doing on your team. Yeah, that's that's what it comes out. That's the better question. Yeah, we like we UM, We like John Means. Last week he was part of the conversation to pick up potentially for the weekend and for next week. So we just fine, UH with too much money. It sounds like what John Means went for, but overall, no issue with the player itself.
Speaking guys like John means, yes, last week you brought U Lucas gi Alito and somebody you liked for a two start week and going forward, Matt, yesterday he was fantastic once again against Toronto. Will get more into that and what happened yesterday with the venture next hour, But Lucas gilto what do you see yesterday Matt? And can it continue? Uh? Look, can I continue? I'm optimistic. I don't think he's going to be lights out like he's been this week. You also got to take into the
consideration the competition that he faced. As I've been saying all season, Toronto Blue Jays make mortal pitchers look immortal. I mean it's it really is amazing. How like you you get a bump up from that? I really do. Um, I'm encouraged. You know he had a start earlier in the week and you know he really just stuck to two pitches and he was actually after the game have come you know, you just stuck to throwing two pitches and he said they didn't make adjustment, so why should I?
So he's obviously learning on the mound and when something's working, he sticks to it. He has more than two pitches that he can play around with. So it's it's it's a positive sign here. Yeah. And I want to piggyback off that a little bit too, because I mentioned that and we spoke about Glo earlier on in the week. What he did against the Indians, he was basically fastball, changeup combination only from four breaking pitches in that start.
And then yesterday goes out and throws twenty two sliders, so again showing us that he does have that capability to throw the slider and throw it effectively. Again, I mean seven innings pitched, one and run a strikeouts. What I love most here is one walk. As good as he was pitching all season long, getting more swings and misses, getting more strikeouts, he was still struggling with walks. He had walks for night over four so to see only
one walk yesterday in seven endings pitched. It was against the Toronto Blue Jays. But you know, since he's returned from injury, greg his last three starts, it's been the Indians, the Blue Jays. In the Red Sox at one point eight eight e r A with twenty three strikeouts in nineteen and a third endings pitched. I'm not ready to say like this is Lucas Geldo's breakout for Shore, but there are a lot of positive signs here. Yeah, you wanted to be early on it, because now everyone's starting
to notice. We we talked about it last week, that he had a couple of good starts in your own You're like, maybe we ignore what he did the first two stars. We got blown up. Maybe things are going in the right direction. And I know you don't want to put your have her down and say it's coming. It's here right now. It's pitching pretty well. Yeah, and you see that with the swinging strike grade, his first pitch strike percentage both careers career highs right now. And
you gotta know that confidence is in there too. What a young player finally puts it together. He built some confidence. It's not everything, but it's certainly house player like lu. When you hear what Matt said about about what Gilito said after the game, why do you only use two pitches? Uh? To a quote like that tells me that he's starting to mature a little bit more as a picture. Um again, look, prospects, don't they don't all figure it out right away. I
mean we've we've seen this before. Sometimes it takes a few years. Sometimes it takes a change of scenery. Good thing, I mean good thing. The White Sox haven't given up on him. I don't think that they would have because they're still super young, they're not close to competing invest and he gave up so much to get him. So, you know, good job by the White Sox sticking by their guy, and he's starting to put to put it all together right now. It takes a few years sometimes
for these prospects, right, yeah, it certainly does. What was really the opportunity was there when he had he had a really good start earlier in the year, and then he got injured and when he was on the I l I got him for for pretty much nothing, So it was worth a look just to see, of course. Uh and right now it's like friendship. Right now it's panned out. But as I mentioned, the competition and what's she going forward, But it's something to be excited about.
Shout out to my pops man me and him. Had we had the time bid for Lucas Gilto in her home league three dollar bid out of a hundred in the middle of the week last week, and he actually won the tiebreakers, So good for you. Dead there you get, you get Leo and I don't must be nice and Tilto goes up against Toronto again this week, Greg, so you can feel good about I. So it's funny because I have Aaron Sanchez's and g Leado on the same
team and they went get at each other yesterday. The Aarrin's Hedges start was wild because he loved those five runs. But he's got a loving guys, so I believe they'll face each other later this week again, so that'll be good. I'm looking forward to that. Other big time pick ups this week, a couple of mediocre players in Tommy Lostella and Derrek Didrick both went in the low sixties back in the bit of both was thirty three bucks replace some level players matth that you probably you just need
to fill some holes. That's what these teams did. Yeah, I love Primus. Stella got to bat in front of Mike Trout and leadoff last he had had double dog game. Look, I mean, I don't know if I would have spent sixty Stella, I would have you know, I had maybe a couple of very small conditional bids on him, and Dietrich got the home runs he's you know, been playing you know, uh in the platoon role. He really had ten on the year. The guy I went after, though,
was Mack Williamson. Okay, how now, Frank, you know Williamson, guy you're met together in Mac Williamson. What are you saying about him that? Well? I was in on him last season and then unfortunately the uh concussion and everything
just derailed it, shut it down. Here was a guy that you know in the mid thirty rounds of the draft and hold like the draft champions they have at the NBC, I was taken every time just thinking he could get an opportunity at some point because the Giants outfield was just horrible, and the Giants, I believe, de fade him. But nobody picked him up, and he went to the Miners and now he's back. He had he had four homers in twenty four hours last week reading
the Miners in one game and then one in Colorado. Yeah, and so Matt pick up for twenty one dollars out of a thousand, will we both have very a lot less than a thousand by now, which is gonna be interesting that I wanted to talk to you a little bit about Matt, like, how do you kind of finagle your way around bad bidding at this point? Because Matt has a hundred fifty three dollars left for the season, I have a hundred and seventy nine, so we're in
a similar boat. He got the winning bid of mcweamson that the backup bid was actually me at eight dollars. So I didn't bid more than seventeen dollars on any players this week. And the main guy that I ended up when he was was Warmer Flora's because he's hot right now. So I wanted first seventeen and the runner
up was eleven. But that was basically my max, Like I wasn't going higher than seventeen for any players, and that's pretty much how I have to play it out from from here on out, maybe being less than that because I only have a hundred and seventy nine dollars for the rest of the season. Greg, and I gotta make it last. You gotta make it. There's no zero dollar bids right now. I don't think, Yeah, I gotta be gotta be strategic about this. I gotta make it last.
You really hard to keep him to come up. All right, keep we're rooting for your kids out. He's you know, he's got a D. He's in first place. Now, he's you know, he's got Aaron Judge is hurt. I think he's in a good spot here. I think I appreciate that, man. I get the seal of approval, Maddie Modi's big man. How are you doing the overall? Uh? Last night checked out was like or something like that. So we'll see what happens. Hopefully could creep up a little bit more,
make things interesting. But yeah, so far, so good for now was my top last night at congratulations thanks man. Yeah, I mean it's not the most exciting thing of all time. I knew Will would be good soon enough. He's hot, man. I think it's like the last two weeks he's betting over man. A lot of people like to coming into the season. He's getting an opportunity to play every day. It's not like Arizona is loaded with a bunch of talent. So I think as long as he performs, we'll get
the opportunity to play every day. And you know what, if he gives me a little bit of pop some batting average. I mean, that's all I'm asking from the guy. He's I think he's my quarring field right now, so I don't I don't need him to be one of my best players. I think that's really important though, R right here, just to just to stop it. Getting guys like this, like uh Wilman, Flores and stuff that we thought might be better at the beginning of the season,
but their first three weeks or month wasn't good. But now the last two weeks they're kind of the player we thought. It dictates that you know, it's not early, but it's far from late, and it's still kinda early in in some sences. So you know, you guys, you if they're out there that you liked and you see them making improvements, you get them for what you got
them for seventeen dollars or something. Mac Williams Sin's the guy I kind of liked, but he didn't have a job, and then he started hitting in the miners and who else is gonna hit home runs in San Francisco, I don't know. So for twenty bucks, that might turn out to be something good, and if it doesn't, it was twenty dollars. Yeah, and I actually drafted mc williamson in this league. It was either round twenty nine, round thirties, so, um, you know, Matt and my self there there there, we
saw something in mac williamson that we liked. He was crushing it in the minors last year. Um, he's always kind of had power potentials, just's never really had a fair shake at playing time, and it looks like hopefully now he'll get it with the Giants. Man, I wanted to throw this back your way. I had the same bid on Wilmer Flores and Albert pool Holes, and then today I woke up and I saw that I got. Well.
Last night, when I saw that I got Wilmer, I was kind of kicking myself because Albert Pools is hot right now, and who would you rather have? Basically, would you rather have Wilmer Floras or Albert Pools right now? I think I'd rather have Liberal Floras and he going forward, he's got you know, you'll have multiple eligibility for you and stuff. I don't know if pool Holes can hold up. I do think the Diamondbacks really want to give him a shot and a real look, and they're in position
to do that. So look, I don't see pool Holes at the end of the year batting better than two thirty, you know, in that range, maybe to forty caps it out and he'll have some nice times, you know, nice weeks here in there. I don't think the body can hold, all right. I was just you know, Pools is hot right now, and I mean, maybe I'm letting my emotion get a little bit more into it because Pools is just a player that I've always liked. You know, you love to watch the guy and he's he's hot again.
He had like a multi home run game in the past week too, So it's just fun to watch pool Holes. And I thought that I would regret doing that. But all right, coming me down a little bit, it's not that I dislike warm or flooras Again, I had the same had the same bit on both those guys. But Wolves is hot. If you're in a deeper league and you need a corner infielder, he's out there. The other the other player that you were really ann went into
the closures in the moment. But the other player that you were really in on everywhere this week, Frank, it was Nick Pavetta, and you had Texas Floria and I both like Nick Pavetta. Nick Pavetta, Nick Pavetta, Vinny Alaska's goes in the d l um, which is a shame. I feel terrible. Well, we did have a funeral for Vince of Alaska's fantasy value last week, so he might have heard that, and and he was so emotionally scarred, Greg, he had to go on the I l so sorry.
In Alaska's rest in peace, your fantasy die, Rest in power, n rest in power. All right, So because of that, you expect Nick Paventa to come back up joy rejoined the rotation and well perform as you kind of expected before the season. Again, what makes you start believing in
Prevenda Again? It's not that I expect him to necessarily do what everyone expected, but a lot of people had this guy pegged as a breakout of the top forty starting pitcher and to be able to pick him up off the waiver wire for eight dollars out of a thousand, Greg, like, there wasn't even a backup. B. This is just me taking a stab at someone who I still believe does have upside. He has a lot. He shown me a lot of flashes of John Gray and something I've talked
about before. Is he ever able going to really be able to put it all together the same way that we want John Gray to be something, But he's never really been able to put it all together. I do have my concerns when it comes to PAVETDA, but in a fifteen team mixed league, still, do you think he has a side? I think he has strike out upside. Is he definitely going to get a job back in the rotation? I'm not so sure. They had cold Irvan pitch yesterday and he pitched seven innings of one run ball,
So we'll see what happens here. But I just thought that there was too much upside there to kind of just let it sit out on the waiver wire. And for eight dollars out of a thousand, Greg, I mean, that's nothing whatever, So if you know, I'll take a shot on the upside here. Look, if he's not called up in the next couple of weeks, I'll probably end up cutting him again. But for eight dollars as a Saven'm willing to take all right the Pavetta anymo, were
you in on the bidding roll for Prevetta? Like across the landscape? I was I had. He was my conditional bitch. I didn't think I was getting Mack Williamson for one, so I got him, and Cedric Mullins is the other guy I put in for ust. I do think he's gonna come up in a little bit and or for a nice a little combo here has played better in the miners, so I definitely think they're Prevetta. It's worth it. Like you said, if he's not up in a couple of weeks, then um, then you can just cut him.
I probably had him at like six team dollars or it was definitely over ten. So if I didn't get one of those two guys, I would have got Paventa. Yeah, And so far in the minors since he's been down, he's made four starts, he's got a three point six zero ear A, he's got a one point zero eight whip and he has he's got thirty four strikeouts and twenty five innings pitched. So he's doing what you'd expect him to do in the miners. If he bounces back,
but eight dollars, it's fine. Like if you're in a deeper league and you know you just have someone that's wasting away on the bench and you meet starting pitching at some point, then it's just there's just another one of those stats candidates. Absolutely for eight dollars. Caution nothing in the main event, where it's you have a lot of depth. You know, there's a lot of roster spots. It's a movie you can make in a swell team league, you probably you probably can't do it there that before
we hit the break. One player that you got in the main event was Cedric Mullins Why are you know Cedric Mullins Man. Yeah, No, I think he's you know, he's making some improvements in the miners. I don't see how he doesn't. I'm back up on this team. He's got speed, he's got some pop, and you know, I don't see the orioles they've got. Dominic Smith Jr. Has been very good. Dwight excuse me, I'd like to met guy. My uh. Dwight Smith Junior has been very good. Have
him on a team with Makaro. I think you're gonna see Mullins there. You know, they have to take a look and see if this team is not going to be good. So he's a player that I think hash value going forward. Yeah, centric Mollins was someone that I drafted as well in a few fifteen teamers. Greg got off to that brutal start, but again it's the Orioles are are searching to see what they have right now, to see if they have any uh mainstays for the long term, some of these young players. So I think
I agree with that. I think he's gonna get an opportunity to play again. He's shouna be back sooner rather than later. Austin Hayes has returned from injury and the miners as well, so keep an eye on him when we come back. The closer situation as well as what do we do the top starter on the board. it rain like Hawaii did. Were talking about that, those nuts, by the it was and it was going on. Like the way that I found out was that I just got like a Bleacher Report video sent to my phone in the middle of Game of Thrones. I wanted to watch the end of the game, but I couldn't. So you want to hear something really funny. So Judy was coming home. I was with my mom. She was with
her mom. So she was coming home and was going to be home at like ten to nine, and I knew she was gonna just like go walk into the bedroom with lights off. I knew I was gonna have to have a conversation when she walked in. There's no way I just avoid that. So was you know what, let me just watch the end of the game. And I was like, afterwards, I'll just ignore my phone, No big deal, And I do what Matt does, right, Matt start a little bit later, um, and I didn't month starting.
It's a ten or fifteen minutes later. Just tell me all this, all this stuff she's telling me. Then I since then, of course, Frank. So I'm sitting here, my TV is right in front of me. She's said where you are to my left. So she's talking to me about like wedding stuff, and I'm honestly going like this. My face is going left to right, left to right
constantly because it's now the fourth quarter. This game is tied and it's close, and she just starts setting really mad and she's like, why is this more stupid basketball game more important? What about Thrones? And it was like, I'd love to watch Thrones, but I need to fis this basketball game first? And we're having this conversation and she just getting so angry. I didn't even think it's like a serious conversation. It's like we're having a conversation.
Was I don't care a serious it is. You're clearly not paying attention to anything. I'm saying. I know you've been in this situation before, and I'm like, I am, I'm gonna pay attention to this Game seven basketball game as well. It's it's it's game seven. Yeah, we do talk about the NBA on and I can't excuse anymore. Hey, yeah, So she goes shut it off. She goes shut it off, and I'm not shutting it off. I'll pause it like
I'm not shutting it off. So after Butler drives and hits the left up with eight seconds left or four seconds left, paused, I finished the conversation, which takes like a half hour. It's now when she stores into the bedroom, I pressed play. I watched the Quai shop, like, oh my god, this is gretzy. So I go in there and make sure like I'm not in trouble there. That takes a fifteen minutes. Oh my god, Like how long is all? It's good? It's like ten fifteen now, how
long is throats something. I go, like ninety minutes. She was ninety minutes. I'm like, yeah, she's oh man, I'm sorry. I'm like, yeah, yes, shouldn't be regulating Long. So that's why he left. That's why you guys thought I went to bed. At the text we we normally do our fabilating Metu and Florio together owns. I said, well, Greg probably sleeping already. Boom Greg with the text back here he is, he's ready to go. It was literally at like eleven forty where I sent the text back. What
you get doing doing awake? I'm like, man, I just finished Thrones. So that's why I from like eleven forty twelve ten, I was in the mix, and then you got down to like relievers. I've never heard of science. Stop answer speaking over leaders the people have never heard of before. Where they have heard of them, they matter. Steve c. Scheck and Chris Martin. We're the two bigger leavers that went off the board this week. Martin obviously in Texas where Sewan where uh Shaun Kelly went on
the i L last week. Josie Clark hasn't gotten his job back yet. Chris Martin has done a nice job in Texas page. Your stroke goes on the on the I l for the Cubs and we think that Steve c Scheck is probably the favorite there, although Joe Madden has obviously not officially named a closer. In the main event, Chris Martin goes for thirty seven, Steve c Check goes for thirteen. You got SI check for thirteen. The backup bid on Martin was thirteen. Is that I'll see you? Yes?
So thirteen was the number you put Martin ghost for significantly more at thirty seven. Matt, what do you think? What do you think of both bids and what do you think of both relievers? Look, Martin, he's not a good job. He did a good job last year. I think it's the clerk's job. And I think he's gonna get it back pretty soon. I think they really look
they signed him, but they could always move him. We did it last season, uh with Brad Hand after getting a contract, So I think that's a real possibility there. And do she said bid? I think that's that's a perfect bid that Frank did and one uh Carl Edwards pitch better since coming up. I think he's a possible option as well, and we'll see if she said get another opportunity and closes it, it could be a fantastic uh bid by Frank. So I don't have a problem
with really either one. I don't know if I would have spent thirty something on Martin, but I would have put two. Yeah. Again, I was really surprised to get him. Actually, I was surprised to get c c Check for only thirteen dollars. I know that there's a lot of mouths there with the Chicago Cubs right now. Brandon Kinsel or another name we haven't even mentioned yet, has pitched really well so far this season. Um yeah, and you know
it could be a mix and match here. But you know, Madden said coming into the year that he didn't have a closer either, and for the most part it seems like it was. It was Pedro Strope. And then last night we see Steve si Check pick up to save against Milwaukee Brewers. So I don't have huge expectations. I do think there's a little bit more staying power for
someone like c Check. For example, if he in verse the next five saved for them, maybe he just ends up being the closer for the rest of the season. I mean, crazier things have happened in fantasy baseball, and I do agree with Matt that I think at some point jose Laclerk does get his job back, So I think it's more of a shorter term thing for Chris Martin. UM. And for those wondering about Brandon Morrow, we kind spoke about him a little bit on Friday with Florio. There
hasn't been any update on him. I'd be surprised because we see him before the second half of the season. So that's basically what's going on with the Cubs. They could be in on the Craig Kimbrell bidding as well, Mbrell whatever Craig Kimberll bidding once the MLB drafts over that early June, but that remains to be seen. I mean, the Braves are probably gonna be in on that as well. You know, the Tampa Bay Rays have kept contact with him, or at least that's what I've read, so I'll see
what happens. I think there might be a little bit more staying power with a guy like c Check over Chris Martin. Yeah, I don't really feel either of them, to be honest with you. Let just think like he has closing experience, and if he performs, why wouldn't they eat performed? No? No, I mean he's never been a lights out relievery, but I mean, for whatever reason this year, I mean, if he can, if he converts five in a row. It was to say that John Madden isn't
just like, all right, he's my clothing. He's performing well, John Madden won't Joe Madden might all right, I'm all over the place with my head is in a funk because is of a game of throw. I don't. I don't think either of these situations are probably long term, um, but well worth the bids, of course. And I dropped Swarzak, and I would employ everyone like everyone else speaking of
pretty much everywhere. I like that too. You mentioned that Friday, Yeah, I like I like Hunter Strickland as a as a sneaky ad right now, especially if you're playing deeper leagues you need saves. Um, he's believe he's gonna resume throwing today and he's eligible to come off the I L. In late May, he was transferred to the sixty Day I L. But remember that happened like at the end of March. So sixty days is the end of May,
which will be when he's eligible. And remember early on in the season, the reason everyone liked him is because he didn't really have much competition, and that's basically in the case for Seattle. Swarzak hasn't been great. Rowan, it's Elias Elias. I think he's more of like a long reliever, maybe a multi ending guy. Maybe they just use him against lefties. I don't know that he's like a legit closer.
So if Hunter Strickland comes back and and he's healthy, I think he's the closer at least maybe until the trade deadline if they try to move him. So it seems like he's expected back late May. Greg I like that movement. I mean, he's gotta he's gotta throw with setbacks, but I figured for a couple of dollars, it's it's worth it. Okay. The um big pitching as prospect if you will. That was coming off the board this weekend in leagues was Corbyn Martin, with Cole mc hugh sent
to the bullpen. Martin got the first shot at replacing him. In his debut, he was very very good and given the Houston pedigree, given uh, how good they are this year. People are rightfully so interested in Corbin Martin. He went for in our fifteen team g d D out of a hundred a lot, so that's in your own leagues. He went for ten ten dollars and seven dollars out
of team league, so little bit different. You're gonna be more aggressive in the fifteen teamers seven to ten bucks, so seven percent um in the twelve teen leagues, both Frank and Matt, I'll start with you, Frank, how good do you think Corbyn Martin can be? How good are the peripherals? Will he stay in the rotation? Obviously, Forest Whitley kind of looms, as does Josh jameson having his opportunity in the rotation. What do you think of the Corbyn Martin pick up pick up by those picked him up?
I like it. I mean, this is a guy that's been very successful in the minor leagues throughout his career. He's pitched a hundred and seventy nine endings in the miners across all different levels. Rookie ball, a ball, high a ball, double A triple A this year and he has a hundred ninety three strikeouts in a hundred and seventy nine endings, pitch two point three one e r a zero point nine nine whip. The strikeout stuff is legit.
If you watched him yesterday, basically used fastball, change up, curveball, um you know, mid mid to high nineties with the fastball as well. He's their fifth rank prospect according to MLB dot Com. I think there's a lot to like here. Greg and the Astros have done very well in terms of developing starting pitchers. They were able to take Derek Cole from the Pirates and figure him out. Even Verlander, as old as he's been, as old as he is, he comes over and has a career year last year.
This is a guy that's had a storied career in Houston. Astros find a way to make him even better. So I think that Corbyn Martin's in a good spot right now. I don't have a problem with like the eight to ten percent range. If he pitches well this week, um next week, he's probably gonna go for even more in
the NFBC. He wasn't available last night, but overall I like him and like we say, with a lot of prospects, Greg, as long as he performs, I think he'll stay in the rotation although there is a lot of competition behind him. There's definitely a competition behind him. Not how good do you believe he could be, Like a lot of things. French said, I'll just put you back over that he's he's been. He's pitched really well in the minor leagues. Uh. He was one of their, you know, top pitching prospects.
So this isn't, uh, you know, really like a surprise, especially Witley wasn't performing up the standards. But I think the the plan with Whitley all along was never to call him up before the first week of June. I think they have a specific plan for Writley and the reasons I was never in on Colin MQ and Brad Peacock, even though there were reasonably priced as I thought that, you know, they would be out of the rotation at some point. Whitley's already lost it. Peacock I think is
probably best for them in a multi inning role. We've seen what he can do in relief, and I think Writley will take that job. The question here is can Martin. If Martin performs, like Frank said this Saturday, it's gonna be uh, some insane bidding come Sunday night in the NFPC, and I think he'll keep off. His job is to hold off Josh James, who may be destined for a
for a relief roll this year. So yeah, no, I mean it's he's got the Red Sox on I believe Saturday, so that's gonna be much CTV for weekend bidders at Boston too, So it's a really tough spot to be in for for Corbin Martin. If I did pick him up, I would probably take away and see approach this week. I know a lot of people a stably spend money, a decent amount of money on him to get him.
But again, at Boston, that's that's a pretty legit test, and I wouldn't feel bad about him performing well if he's on my bench because it's kind of like a prove it to me start. So if he proves that he can do it against Boston, then moving forward after that, you know that this is a guy that you could
get in your lineup. But ultimately I think I would I would try to keep him out for the start, just against Boston, you're gonna want to take the weight and see I just don't think one star is certainly in the road league. Is is worth it? Like, let's see what you can become if you're in a twelve team. If you're in a twelve team head to head league, obviously you have to make a decision. It's a little bit different. If you're in a damily transaction league. Obviously
make a decision closer when your matchup is this weekend. Um, if you have to make decision today, I'm begging him, it's just not worth it. I think, as President Trump said, Matt, nobody's hotter than the Boston Red Sox is like handed it? Um, all right? Uh, this week we got one, three, four, five, six teams with seven games Orioles, Tigers and Brewers, Twins, Phillies, and Pirates, and then a couple of teams with fives, including the Red Sox, Rockies, Daughters, Marlins, Giants, and raised Matt.
The two start pitchers that you like ore who I mean, it's it's definitely a it's matchup base. And that was kind of the reasons why I like Gildo coming into last week, marking Perez was somebody, I mean, I like Peresidan and draft season, but with somebody that you really had to be in on and Uh Trent Thornton of the Toronto Blue Jays believe it or not as a terrific uh two step lined up for him. Uh. Kyle Gibson has a really good two step. I don't know if I mean two steps. This is great and it's
always been. Maddie mos I love it. It's a it's a it's d Matthew reference one more kind of guy that I really don't like to in doors. But for this week in AFT team in Ronaldo Lopez is set up for success. I don't know if you can execute it, but he set up for success. Yeah, a lot of people like Ronaldo Lopez going into this week. That was the one name that I've had that is out there in most leagues that could be very very beneficial. The same matchups that Gelto just had last week. And look
what Gledo did, so he has Cleveland and Toronto. Very interesting that they play the same two teams in series in back to back weeks. You actually see that UM more more often now, I would say, Frank because Um, for whatever reason, when you're not in division, you kind of play like you just get that match up out of the way. It's like the white such blue is just the only time they're playing the season, So just
you I don't know why you see a lot. Yeah, they were talking about it on the Yankees broadcast to how coming up they're either gonna be done with their season long series against like the Royals or some other American League Central team, and they said, how, how it's not fair because you know, the Yankees haven't been all season long and their entire series is gonna be over against that team for for the season. So this is what it is. The scheduling has been a little bit weird. Um,
what happens Matt? What about Mike Fires? Right, so he's coming off the no hitter, He's at Seattle, an offense that has cooled down a lot, um, not a terribly, you know, it's actually a favorable place to pitch in in Seattle, and then at Detroit, so pretty good matchups here. But it's Mike Fires. So what do we do with this? Yeah? And the big thing is I never like starting a picture off of like a no hitter or a perfect game.
They went drown a ton of pictures. Not that it really matters, but with Fires and stuff, the matchups are there for him, he's just mr inconsistent. He's had a good matchups before and he hasn't performed. I can see it in a fifteen. In a twelve, I mean, I don't think I'm doing it. In in a twelve and a fifteen, you can make the argument to do it,
but you know what happens. I mean, I've smirched his name last week and he went out threw no hitter, So maybe you should be smirching again for those people who are starting Mike Fires this week. Matt Normally, something we'll say about starting pitchers here regarding Fantasy Baseball is if you can't start them on there do to start
a week, then they're probably droppable. And I've been getting a lot of questions about specifically one start on pitcher who does have two starts this week, but they are really really tough matchups at Boston at Philly for Kyle Freeland. Is this the end for Kyle Freeland? I would imagine you don't want to start him? Is he droppable? I have him in two spots this year because he was real just ridiculously cheap. He's on my bench and fifteen teamers.
I'm not cutting him in a fifteen teamer. I think he use a guy they can give you innings, and it's crazy. He's not at cores and I'm not starting him and all that, but Boston and Philadelphia beyond terrifying. So I'm not gonna do it, and I'll give you one guy who I'm gonna start. He's got a really tough matchup this week. But even if you didn't start him, if you had that luxury where you didn't have to, Brandon Woodruffe is somebody regardless with happens this week, I'd
be in on barning for the rest of the season. Yeah. We spoke about Woodroff last week as well, Greg, And you see the ownership percentage on CBS all the way up to eight percent. And I remember looking at that last week. Before you know, most people knew he was a two star pitcher, it was below So it's it's climbed, uh quite a bit here and there's a lot of good signs. Man. The underlying number is really good for
Brandon Woodruff. I think he's doing a lot of what people expected out of Corbin Burns, except he's been a little bit more spot I think you can get a roll we close out some games. He's got you know you got. He just got some good stock when we come back. Svener joined the program and I'll read my uh. They even tweeted the year now. You might want to stick around for that one. Have a great time that following at the athletic set and baseball, Aldre were two. It's next.
