listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Did we just become best friends? Young? Fantasy best friends forever? Our number two? Fantasy best friends forever? Fantasy Sports or Radio Network. Frankstaffle Greg Sussman joined, as we are each and every day for our number two. At the Closer, Chris Ftro was up, Chris, what top guys? How you doing? It's your boy The Closer back Wednesday? Ready to get kicking? Let's do it? Ready to rock here a too? Man? Do we just
all have a case of the midweeks here Wednesday? Like, what's going on? I think it's the well for me? Like my mom has been the hospital. Okay, she's good, right, yeah, she's actively here. She got through the surgery yesterday and now she's she's out today, so I was gonna go pick her up, but she they let her go at like twelve o'clock. So good, she's doing it right, Yeah, she's doing good. Good at the gold bladder right, and we're good. Who needs a gold bladder anyway? You don't,
you know, it's true waste. It's just just the waste yourmal your mouth will be good and we're all good. Um, what do you want to hit on before we have some fun? That's okay? Yeah, well there's there's two games I want to hit on, Like you don't have as many games as you want. I don't want to. You mentioned during the pager stroke who didn't get the save last night instead of Steve sche came in almost blew it,
but he winds up getting to save your boy. Cohamles goes five and a third six hits, four runs, only two, earned three walks seven strikeouts. On the other side for the Mariners, King Felix with six and names strike out eight. It's pretty nice by King Felix. Mr Groundball rb I himself Anthony Rizzo had he stolen base and a home running this one his sixth of the year, while Kyl
Schover hit his fourth of the year. Rizzo off to his typically slow start, batting to twenty eight thus far this season, while Kyle Schover off to his normal just bad player one on the season. Oh, Greg, regarding Anthony Rizzo, you know what he was saying in his mind while he gets a home run and stolen base? Greg, what was he saying? Saying? It's gonna be once once the calendar turns to May and Rizzle is good to go. Yeah, but it's going to be May, Greg. You know, so
he's looking forward to the future. He's getting pumped up, he's getting ready. By who sucks in his career in March and April, Aleander turns to me, he's ready. What do you What do you think about? It's gonna be may venture? Do you not like that joke? Are you just? It's just I get it? And he played like twice so you know we got it. But listen, Rizzo by obviously you know what I mean. He's still he's still producing,
batting to like he's still been producing. He's got six homes, he's got six doubles, he's got eighteen eyes and twenty one squad It's not like he's not producing. He's just he's gonna just get better. So if there's anybody selling, I'd be one of the first to jump on it. And by easily. You know, Rizzle, you know what he's gonna do, and you're right when as the season goes along, he gets better and better. I'm assuming that Pedro stroke didn't pitch last night, because he threw twenty six pitches
on Sunday. Still very frustrating. I'm sorry, Frank, Yeah, had him in the lineup. I saw Coss Warbets go ahead homer. Yeah, Cubs in line for save. We'll just keep Steve c check in there for the save instead of beauty using. And when Edwin Cornascion hit his eighth homer of the season, does this guy ever stop? Is he's just timeless? Shame guys, doesn't matter, same guy. Bad batting average, all right, that's fine. Just give me eight home runs, give me twenty rabbies.
To start the year. First month of the season, the Mariners were the hottest hitting team in baseball for most of the month of April. They've cooled off a little bit, but it went in. Cornascion, I mean, one year older, but the production doesn't stop. It's another home run. Eight home runs there? How about this? Greig? I tweeted this out last night. Drink Dee Gordon has seventeen RBIs. Would you like to hear the list that he has? List
of players that he has more RBIs than sure? That would include J. D. Martinez, Xander Bogart's, Nelson Cruz, Ya clueg, Alex Bregman, and Chris Bryant. Good times, good times, seventeen RBIs, first month of the season, and he's betting lest you didn't see that? And why didn't he lead off for this team yesterday? Greg? When they when they sent down Malex Smith? Did we talking about that? Talking about that? We're talking about that Alex Smith? We were on and
off and then I'd say, remained off. I don't have any no shares Alex Smith. Disastrous April so much so he's in the sent down. I mean, he was doing so well earlier on. I mean, everyone all the matter is doing well earlier on until they stopped doing well. He had eight stolen basis. I mean, he was really
was doing what you wanted him to do. He was on for his forty plus stolen bassis like you wanted also strikeout right from a I also think this is kind of a response to get Dan Vogelbach in the lineup every single day with Mitch Hattiger playing center in Bruce and Santana in the corners with vog back at first. That's real bad defense, you know, I thought the Yankees
had a bad defense. That's a bad defense. But in the lineup wise, you don't miss batting average b PA with Malex Smith in there, and instead you could back the Gordon first, and that's just a much better version of that, you know what I mean. Maybe not as many stolen bases at this point with Dee Gordon, but much better batting average, you know, just a much better hitter. There was going to be regression at some point because
he's got a two thirty four Babbitt. Regarding Malex Smith still hitting the ball on the ground a ton would he supposed to do? Right, when you're a speedster percent ground ball, right, that's fine, But a two thirty four babbit, I mean, that's not like Malex Smith. I mean, he's a three thirty nine career Babbitt. Guys, So some batting
average we're gonna come. I think the main reason they sent him down was because of a thirty percent strikeout, right, you can't be a leadoff hitter and be a speedster and strike out thirty percent, and you can't be a lead of hitter. That's o b pot. But he has a ten percent. If doesn't, he doesn't Gordon is performing well? Yeah, what is Gordon batting average? Three? Why do you put him leading off? That's what I want to see as a D Gordon owner. He should be him in a
few leaks. What do you meet off? That's fine. I do think that Alex Smith is going to be back at some point. Gregg when five years old. I don't think they're just throwing in a towel on Malex Smith. Let him correct himself. So if somebody drops Malex Smith in a roto or head to head categories league, I would pounce on that. Greg I think he's gonna be back. Pounce on that would deep because twelve teams, two teams to get out of here. He stolen basis. He was
on page for forty. You can't just find forty stolen bases off the waiver wire. He's in the miners. How many your point, Nick Paveno, who you're making us hold on too. Who's gonna be transition to a reliever? You know what is he now? Oh yeah, I told you that. The week after that, I said I would drop him. What are you talking about? At the time, he said, hold on to him Alex Smith. Greg, you can't just find someone on the Waiverbard. It's gonna give be forty
stolen basis. You don't work that. Maxmith has to be the majors to give you a forty stolen basis. And I think he's gonna be back sooner rather than later. But twelve team leagues, I think a twelve team rot league where you start five outfielders and it's hard to come buy stolen bases. I am picking up Malex Smith if somebody drops him, and if I own Alex Smith in a twelve team rotal league, I am dropping Malex Smith because he cannot help me and he is in
the minors, and that is a huge mistake. I do not play. I do not play where league where minor league players help my major league stats. Let's remember this conversation a couple of months from now, and we'll see what happens. Sure, you know, because you know it could go either way. But from now is different. I think that right, because he'll be out there. I can find someone else on my team to drop, and I'm not gonna find someone on my team that that can give
me forty stolen bases. But that's the thinking. Maybe maybe you can't find someone else to drop. Maybe you're just you're stuck and you have you have all you always said, well all the injuries, like we're kind of screwed. You almost have to drop him if you're in twelve league sometimes because like he might be a guy that's in your lineup, and then you're like, wait, I can't get a zero my life. I just gotta drop and pick somebody else up. I just have to do it, and
to head points league. I have no problem dropping him at all. I'm just saying when it comes to speed, everyone is always trying to find stolen bases and run. As bad as he was, they continued to eat him off every single day in the lineup that was scoring a lot of runs, So he's gonna give you runs. Typically, he's a better batting average than what he showed. The thirty percent strikeout rate is not like Malex Smith. The
babbo is extremely low. There's a guy that stole forty bases last year, and he had eight stolen bases just from being garbage the first month of the season, so he was on pace for over forty stolen bases. He's gonna be back and he's gonna steal basis. I would not drop. Who would you rather own? Malex Smith of Delono the Shields, Alex Smith what he had? Male Smith at eight stolen bases, Delano the Shields has seven. Delight
of the Shields plays in the major leagues. Still, the line of the Shields is not as good of a hitter as Malex Smith. Once in the miners, once in the majors, one can help you, one cannot. The line was also hidden both. I mean when when I was talking about on the Shields before the season, I mean, this was a guy with like a three fifty plus a DP. It's not like I'm not tied into the line. I know you're not. But Malex Smith is a better player than him. The Linol Shields is not a guy
they can provide batting average. He's not a good batting He's in the miners here hoping he's going to be back soon. Are you telling you why? What makes you think he's young enough. They clearly liked him. They went out and traded for him, Greg. They like him. They're giving to get right. They're giving him a few weeks to get right in the minor leagues. He's better than what he's shown. He's never been a guy that strikes up thirty percent of the time. He's gonna go down,
He's gonna get right. He's got fixed build this college six. By the way, you don't know how so young Malex Smith just twenty six, and he does another thing. Malex Smith is a better player than the line up the Shields. There's just maybe I mean, listen, do three thirties seven ot For most people, they don't have to line up the Shields in their lineup. That's what it comes down to. I play in a fifteen team league where I need speed. I have him in my lineup as my fifth outfiller,
and I don't love it. By the way, you I need the speed and he's given me seven stars. I just don't understand the most teams away how you could like Malex Smith over Delonot Shields. He's a better player. What don't you understand he's a better player, But he hasn't been this year at all. He hasn't been this year. Are do we judge every player of all time one month? But I'm judging if I'm going to hold the role correct And the Mariners made a decision in April or
May whatever to send the player to the miners. I could find a compared player to the minors, doesn't mean he's gonna be there forever. I can find a comparable player that's in the majors right now, Comparable because they have a similar average, similar steals, similar everything, right now. Give me that guy that I can put in my line up right now, and then dropped the guy who's not playing right now. I'm not saying I can't pick
Malex Smith back up later. Yeah, it teems to be a lot harder and it's gonna cost you fed to pick him up. It's twelve team lea, No it is not. I don't think anybody's disagree wholeheartedly. I mean, look at the past couple of like the Linos Shields. You say comparable player de Lionodo Shields hit to sixteen last year with twenty stolen bases. Alex Smith who six with full He's stolen basis, how do you he attempted fifty two deals?
How do you know Max, he's a better player. But how do you know that one season isn't an anomaly? How do you know before he hit to seventy he's a two sixty six the line of the shield is a two forty two career hitter at the major league level. That's twenty plus points difference in batting average. I know. But no, no no matter how much a team likes a guy, if he's hitting one sixty five, I mean, you can't
have deserves to be in the miners right now. I agree with that he doesn't deserve to be in the majors. He's gonna go down, He's gonna get right. He's striking out thirty percent at a time in his career he's he's twenty percent strike out right, So that's up a massive amount. It's not gonna get it done. I agree with that he shouldn't be in the line up right now. He deserves to be sent to the miners. But he's a better player than Dene at all. He's in the
lineup and and and he has higher upside. He has higher upside too. That's why I'm dropping Malex Sismith for de Line on the Shields. I think he's gonna be back within the next week or two. He will not, Okay, a week or we're going on that. Well it's May one, right, if he's not backed by May fifteenth? Do you what do you want to do? Lunch lunch bet demonics. Yeah, that's who's gonna be better? Who the shields? Her mouth? I don't want to bet that, so that that's that's
an easy way. You didn't take my Vladimir Guerrero bet either, So that's an easy win for me because he has to spend ten days in the minor because eleven, so he doesn't come back immediately. I win. He will be I'm not scared of Up or whoever they called up. There's a reason not getting a shot. Okay, he's twenty five years old to right, and he's not known for being an offensive player. Who knows all right? Well he didn't last night he went over. You believe in Malex
a lot? I mean, I don't know, I don't know if that's the truth. Would an eight stolen bases in one month seven amazing? And we having a two five O b P and he five batting average, So he's he's still basis he still he's doing super fast. We know how fast he is. He's in like the top one or two percent of the league. The problem is, is he right? Is he just? He might just be Joe gaft I always loves Joe gath I mentions I couldn't hit like he's better than that, though I'm just
saying I don't know. I don't think you hit two nineties six over four four played appearances in a hundred forty games last year if you're a fluke. I just don't think that that's a fluke over the course of an entire season. So that's not even my argument. My argument is that right now, and it's a five team league, there's no reason to hold on to him. It's no one's gonna pick him five outfielders, and and everyone is always trying to find speed. Greg he should not be dropped.
But I just found you speed and Delano just shields. I just found it for you. He's not and they're not the same saying yesterday he didn't play yesterday, but now Smith didn't play for like three days on the other day. Like you keep talking about speed. We always looking for speed. I found you're being too short sighted with this. But if the twelve team league there are
players out there, I'm done. I'm just I'm telling you right now, if you dropped Malex Smith in a Rhodo league with five outfielders, you are going to regret it. I think you can. I think you get to pick him back up. This was great. I'll let you know that. I'll you know, the big Billy agrees that you should stash him like he's enjoying the commentary. Um, you know, last night Houston shut out Minnesota leven zip Garrett Cole seven strong innings, love and strike, hats, walk three, allowed
just one hit. Michael Panada not nearly as good. Five innings, nine hits, five runs. You him, You can definitely drop him for Grivin Canning, who totally agree with that. I already picked up can a lot of home run who'd you drop for him? I dropped Anthony Swarzak. I'm done with him and I had to head points. I'm alright with that. Cool, I'm cool with that. The home runs hit by Houston yesterday Jake MRIs Nick's second home run, George Springer's ninth home run of the season. Georgie's got
nine on runs? Would Geo comeback to seventy four? The o BP at three sixty three, Alex Bregman his fifth home run. This he's like believe Springers nine home runs, it's a lot. Yeah, he's got power. It feels like it's been such a slow star for Alex Bregman. I don't own him anywhere. He's only got five home runs compared to George Springers nine of a slow star. You know, I say that he's hitting two seventy one with ps,
so he hasn't been bad. But I think for where he was drafted a bit of a slow start here for you, I mean, George Springer, it's been great. You know what, Greig, I just slammed you. I'll give you some credit, you too, George Springer over ya C L Peak had r c L Peak ranked higher than Springer. That so far right about this, although they I also remember I talk him over Tommy Fan as well, which
Tommy fans have a great year. Tommy frights well. And I think over Roll and Road he's probably been better because he has more steals, definitely definite and famine and points Lea's also is doing great. Sob fan has been awesome. Just walk rate is tremendous to just that. Tampa Bay Bray's lineup has been awesome too. All right, George Spring has been right. We will take a break and one more game we want to chat about, and that's the
Dodgers from last night. And uh we'll get into some lists like lists lists, stick around, Fantasy best Friends forever, having great Old Wednesday, It's nippy. Lose weight now. Go to fat dot com. Game time Decisions. Okay, I'm I'm usually sort of I'm caught it on top of pop culture and stuff, but Game of Throws is stuff that I missed out on, and I'm not taking a pot shot at about like cool. People watch Game of Throws, people like it, they like what they like. I was so luke. I was on Twitter and I saw trending go ot and I actually thought I was a guy. Damn go trades out of service again. Go Op. Go to Game of Throw week days four pm Eastern one pm Pacific only on the
Fantasy Sports Radio Network. I was actually listening to this song earlier today. It's Bryan Adam somewhere six to nine. Yeah, somewhere six and nine. Good song, are you thinking of it? Frank, very very vanilla break Suspen type song. It doesn't surprise me. It is very of its time, like classic. I was listening to a lot of eighties classic rock tonight. Yeah, whatever reason is in that kind of mood, you're just standard, Like do you think of classic eighties rock? Some of
it's good. You can never take exception of being called like a forty year old guy. You just can't. Just when you love songs like that, you just can't. I'll tell you the medal I got to accept it. It It was just in the mood for it. The metal in the eighties was hair metal, which was some of it
was metallico was. It was was not the norm. That was different was just your like your pop ones, right, like White Snake that White Snakes consider some of the Here I Go, yeah, Here I go, Yeah, that one counts. That's all right. A little you know, a little bit harder than you know, Summer Roofs, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, you know, like, I like Petty, pet like, Petty's not bad. A kid in college got me into that one. He's great. They always always never Petty because he was. He and
the Heartbreakers were the musical guests. Musical act right, the free falling Right? Yeah, like that song. They were musical. The first Giant Patriots Super Bowl, did they absolutely? Yeah, that's right. That's Walker Wheeler last night against the Giants, five and the third, six hits, three runs, one walk strike. As Frank, what did you think of Walker Wheler's bast back performance. I'll use bounce back very loosely because against the San Francisco Giants overall, I was just expecting a
better performance. I mean, the gives up six hits and five and the third three year and runs against this is isn't a good line of blue he's facing yesterday, Joe Panic, it's Alrte Buster Posey, Brandon belt Mongoria. This was supposed to be a bounce back performance. Someone tweeted at me today asking what the pitch usage was like for Walker Bueller yesterday. I looked into it, throwing a
lot of fastballs this year. It's overall, I mean there was fastball sixty three times yesterday out of ninety pitches. So I looked overall to his pitch usage this season. Last year he used his four seam fastball round forty two percent of the time. This year it's up to fifties. He was using his fastball per cent more this year, using his cutter less, using his curveball less. The slidder usages up a little bit, but overall he's just using
the fastball lot. I wonder is he not using his breaking pitches as much, because like there's still something going on with his arm. I'll just keep going back to what we heard before the season started. He was he was dealing with a dead arm. He got it. He had a late start, later start than anyone else in the Dodgers rotation outside of Kershaw, who was hurt at the time. But I just I'll go back to that, Like, I'm just wondering, is he pitching through something right now?
He doesn't look right, and the fact that he's using his fastball more than any other pitches a really weird start of the year for Walker. Bueler venture. Yeah, I think I think something's up, But I think it's also maybe he's still a young player, you know, lest she was his first year in the majors and he you know, maybe he's still harnessing his his repertoire, you know, and trying to figure out what works best for him. I think it's a good sign that he at least, you know,
the six k's the one walk, obviously, that's good. The thing you don't like his five and a third innings. It's not enough innings against a bad Giants lineup, so you want more. But I think this is a great by candidate for the second half. I think he's gonna have a big second half once he figures it out what he wants to do, how he wants to go about pitching. Uh, every every game that he starts, what
his repertoire is gonna repertoire is gonna be. So I think, listen, this is a good bye Candon right because honestly a lot of people will worry, and you should be. But I don't think there's anything wrong. I don't think there's an injury here. I think it's more about him trying to figure out figure himself out. The underlying numbers for build just not good. Ent swinging strike rate last year
eleven first pitch strike percentage. So you know, starting off a lot of his counts, at least compared to last year, a lot of his accounts down one oh, because he's got a fifty two and a half percent first pitch strike percentage last year that was sixty three point six, so down over eleven percent this year. And they're not chasing pitches outside the strike zone either. His O swing is down. I don't know. I think something's wrong with
bout Walker Buller right now. It would not surprise me if we get some kind of and we won't know whether it's a real I Elston or a phantom I Elston because the Dodgers do this with all their starting pictures. Great, you're trying to buy Walker Buller right now, it wouldn't surprise you can be laying from the IL. Yeah, we said, we actually said this after his last start, that he could wind up on the IL. And I said, it's like phantom injury, and you said, maybe it's not such
a phantom injury. Maybe there's something really is. He's a better picture than he's showing us right now. He absolutely looks better like his second half, and I think what doesn't go in his favor though, is that they can stash him on the ile and they have other guys can step in in stripling in Urias were on the ile.
I think long term, Chris, I agree with you. I think long term, I want to buy Walker Bueller because he is talented, he is a really good picture, and that maybe if he does go on the I l like you know that that's good, that's a good thing. We'll figure out whatever he's got going on and stash him and then and then unleash you in the second half. I still think a bottomer yes, because you could get him for a nice prices right now, I think hopefully.
Do you think? So what would it take, Chris? Would you if you had Walker Wheeler, would you take Tyler Glass enough for him? See now I want Glass now now. I would not give it away Glass now like I want to buy high on tyler Glass now. And I said, really, that's not how fantasy works, right. You shouldn't buy a picture at his highest value unless you think he could
potentially get better than this. Yeah, than sure. If you're if you're watching Tyler Glass now, let's see the performances, and you think he's gonna keep it up, or you think he could potentially be better than what he's doing right now, and by all it means go on and get go out and get Tyler Glass. Now, can he really be better than what he's done so far? Maybe he does have a lot offside. He is young, um, and he's he's in the right place to get better.
So I want to look up some Yahoo trades, and I'm holding if I if I'm a glass, Now, what does it take to get Walker Bueller right? You could get him for let's see here, Walker Bueller for John Gray and Renato Nunyez. I would give up those two guys. See at Walker Buller. I would do that. I don't think. I don't think it's a terrible trade either. I don't know. I wouldn't really, I wouldn't probably have. But Walker Bueller and Jose Alvarado for David Price and Holland. So let's
say Alorado versus Holland is a wash. Would you give up David Price to get Walker Bueller right now? David Price has been pretty good? I would you would still do that? What about you? Greg? Would you give up David Price to get Walker Bubueller? Dad Price has been really good? But I would still but David Price is guy I was looking to buy. Would you rather have
Walker Bueller Aaron Nola Nola Dealer. I think I would take Nolah too, because I don't have concerns about an injury with no one at least I still have that what I heard in the spring lingering in the back of my mind when it comes to Walker Bueller. No, it's starting to correct himself. He'll get better as the season goes on. Yeah, I hear what you guys are saying and trying to buy Walker Bueller. It's just it's hard to stash the starting picture that's pitching poorly right now.
It's just like the pitching landscape. You're trying to find pictures who can help you. A lot of the aces I mean haven't performed well. I told you this during a Breakna Ti on today pitching in Texas. I think it's the Rangers lineup. I'm terrified. I'm terrified for today. I think there's a chance he gets blown up. I'm sorry. In Texas against the Rangers. I think he'll be all right. That's just a tough place to pitch, man, it is, especially for a right handed picture. It's just tough I'm
not great, so it could have some power. But take the chance. The top three in baseball and runs scored so far. I'll take the chance, and Stashing Bueler will Yeah, No, I want you, Um, somebody brought up in the chat um, can we talk about Griffin Canning spoke about him. They can rewind, they can rewind and we'll they'll hear it. Unless there's anything you want to say about hid venture. I mean I did pick him up, so what do you and I did a lot of you know, I
looked into him. Uh, listen, I think this obviously could be a great pitch. Of the problem is you gotta worry about innings, cap and all that. He is a you know, fresh rookie coming right out of the miners. But everything he's done uh in the miners has been great. I mean he's got a great k rate, walk rate's pretty good. You know, I only gave up nine yard hits in a hundred and thirteen ings last year in the miners. Obviously, this guy has a ton of talent. So if you need a quick, you know, a right
now stream type of guy. And Griffin Kenning, I know he only went uh was it four innings in his start yesterday he did have six ks in a third for one of thirty had six k's. And I'm sure they'll start ramping him up a little bit more. But he could give you high k rate, low walk rate. He'd give you that logo whip in roto leagues and points leagues. He could, he could get it done, but he needs to get the innings up. I think it's not a bad guy to pick up and says, you know,
maybe he could get it done. Uh, if there are a couple more starts of him getting used to the majors, get you five six inning starts? You want to own Griffin Canning right now as well? Yeah, let's talk about some of the other pictures you may want to own. See to be in front of me, gentlemen, you can close your computers. Oh, we're gonna talk to the chat room. Craig, you pay attention to the show. I'm here in front
of me. I have a list of the top ten players with the lowest x FIP the month of April. How many do you do you can name, Chris? I don't know, maybe a couple be a number. Uh four out of ten? You said, yes, do you think you can beat that? Um, yeah, you look at that many. How many do you think you can name? Do you think you can beat that? Probably? Not? All right, Frank, you're a first. You gotta name five players that they're in the top ten in x fift through the month
of April. Max's number one in the league's extract was two point three seven. I don't this guy qualifying fake kershaw seem list. He's not on the list three pretty down one like family foods in a way. Alright, So Tyler Glass, Tyler Glass now is ninth on the list. Is x fit is three point one? Four? Pretty good? Pretty good? Pretty pretty good, pretty good? So all right, I got two so far? The name three knew in the challenge an a'll have the Remember it's a little
different family feud. We only has the name three, name three more the five he said, name five, it's five beats two? Last night? Was that? What nine? No? What was his three point one four? Mm hmm mm hmm was Barrios barriers is not on a list. There's your second strike. Gosh, I would have knew that. I have him everywhere. Alrighty x fit is a little bit interesting. If you told me right, he's number one. Little spoiler alert, I asked both of these guys before he came upstairs,
do you prefer FIT or X FIT? They did? You want to cheat? Want to absolutely not. I'm just making it very transparent, frank said, XPIT. I said, I don't. It doesn't matter to me. So I am giving x FIT because I'm probably thinking about probably think it's too hard about players who have given up home runs when I should probably just be thinking about like the best pictures in baseball. And with that, I will go with no,
not him. Um let's go with Garrett cole Gerrit cole is correct, third in the on the league an x FIT with a two point six six x FIT excellent. You got three two more to get good, two more to go, And now that I think about it, I probably could have got like six or seven of these. We'll find out in a second. Um, well, I mean if he wins ot Oba, he doesn't, he doesn't, ALRIGHTY do do scrolling through my mind knowledge here? Greg and
thralling Frankling, will you know what? I go with? Old reliable guy who's always better in X fifth leagues and the leagues. Actually, no, I'm not gonna go then go. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with her Man Marquez, all right, didn't matter if he said John Gray or Harms, they're both wrong. I was gonna, I was thinking. So he got three, so we got three. Chris, she said he game six or seven, so here are seven more. Give you seven more. Luis. Luis Castio is not on
the list. Okay, right, he's probably close though I thought about him, but he's he's probably like a mid threes x FIP guy. Hey, look that up. Hang on a second, Louise Castio's x FIP. Here's three point three one her mom Marquez, by the way, three seven, so not bad. We were far off. Matthew Boyd Maddy Boyd, also not on the list, was twelve three points, so we're not far off. Not top fifteen guys, so the other guys on the list, you don't have to keep going. Blakes
now at two point four or five, he's good. I didn't think he qualified because he's hurt. He only missed one staring Stephen Strassburg, guy you don't like. At two point eight five. I want to talk about Strasberg, which is why I brand up and open my computer. Yes, he's a computer. So Stotsberg on the year two and one is EO raised three point eight two. The x fit is an entire run less at two point eight five. His caper nine eleven and a half walks for nights
ato point three. Not great left percentage around se homer ball ratio is actually hi Stephen Stosberg, gentlemen, you're buying it right now. Oh. Absolutely, he's been ridiculous. I'm not surprised. Strike swinging strike rate right now is by far the best in his career. I mean even in his best seasons that he's had specific lee Let's look at when he had a two point five to e r A over the course of a hundred and seventy five innings.
He was just superb that year. Even that season at a twelve point nine being strike rade this year getting more chases outside the strike zone than ever before. He's doing stuff right man. I mean a hard hit rate is down tremendously, And that's why you see the x fit much lower than the e r A because his home run the fly ball ratio right now, it's so that's astronomical. His home runs per nine or are one
point four three for his career. He's a zero point eight nine home runs per nine, So he gave him three to San Francisco Regressions. It's coming here for Steven Strossberg. I'll throw this your way. Would you trade Peter Alonso to get him Greg? This is interesting because this is a truth story, true story. I have this trade on the table. Has this trade on the table? Imagine I would trade Peters for Steven Stosberg. Yes, you had a
fair trade. No, I don't say that significantly, rather have Stephen. Yes, pitching is hard to come by and it's significantly, Rather have Steve. I could find made it trade the other day. By the way, in this league, you know Ali? Yeah, would you do another one? I traded away everyone can for Corey Seeger, Like, why don't you trade for Malex Smith right now? You like trading for people who end up in the minor leagues. That'sa will be back? What
do you think about my tea? Yeah, I'm buying absolutely, and I would not whoever has Strouss I know who it is. But I would never give away Strausburg for Pete Alonzo. I'm just not doing that. Let's change the conversation. Do you know who's next, who's sleepth in the league? I thought you were gonna see this tweet last night by Mike Floria Sunny Gray x FIP at two point eight five. If you look at what Sonny Gray has done on the season for Cincinnati, the record obviously not
very good. It's owing four, but caper nine close to eleven x fip once again a full run lower than he's e r A. He's walking two point four home is only five percent hich kind of scares me because that's going up. Left on base percentage UM is only six, so that's another also that could go up a little bit. So are you buying Sonny Gray and either of you? I'm not trading for Sonny Greg. I like Sonny Gray, I don't love Sonny Gray. He's kind of a mixed
bag right now. Um, the three point I think the three point six four e r A is more of an indication of where he'll remain rather than the underlying numbers, because he's got a near eleven k per nine right now. But his swinging strike ray is actually lower than where it's been in years past, So the strikeout seemed like a bit of a fluke his first pitch strike percentage
is is actually down this year as well. Looking at his pitch uses, Greg, you know, he complained that the Yankees made him throw too many sliders, complained about it. He actually cried about this. You know, his his his slider usage us your fifteen point nine slider use this year eighteen using a lot. Yeah, it's the Yankees must still be having an influence on you. There, and his whip is under one that is not remaining. This is
some warning suns. I like, I like Sonny Gray, but I think his ear a is more indicative of where he's going to remain. I don't think that he's going to get closer to these underlying numbers. There still been really good. The rest of the top ten ext when we come back as well. Was another category on Listen This. Maid Sailors is the leading cleaning service in New York City and Boston. Besides the Celtics, tread Socks, Bruins, Patriots, Celtics are fine, sweet days. Not Ammi staring on F and T s Y radio and on your popular podcast providers, it's so good question
mark chat readfully so well? The hell's X fIF they ask, And it's X field fielding independent pitching. And the difference between X five and five is and when what does this do? What is different? Ear? So it's an underlying metric. It's kind of used as an ear a estimator or kind of like a view of things to be coming decator. It doesn't always work out this way, but we use expected batting average when it comes to guys who are performing lower than expected in their current batting average. Uh.
And it's kind of similar to that. X fit is basically what your what your ear A would be if your home run a flyball ratio was normalized to lead average, so around ten per cent, but it also takes it basically builds off FIP and fielding. Independent pitching is what your ear A would be if you had basically competent defense behind you. So there are anything different factors that go into play, like there are. There are guys that
you know in in years past. Kyle Hendricks comes to mind, who pitched to a super low ear A and he had a great, great defense behind him with that Chicago Clubs defense and his underlying numbers, his FIP his x FIT were much higher, but he had a much better defense behind him than the rest of the lead, so that's why his ear A was actually much better than his underlying numbers. So PHIP is basically all the contact that's made that's not a strikeout or a home run
that's FIP. Exfit accounts for the home runs with home run of fill live all rations, so it basically just builds off of FIP. That's why guys like Modica like exfit more because it's like it's brings home runs into the equation as well. Well. A couple of other names on this top ten lists, I want to go on a different list in a second. James Paxton at two point nine, good exit, which I think we could figure
out how he's pitched recently? Right he Lib Smith at three point zero two, and you've been hid on Caleb Smith recently. Frank Jose Quintana at three point four one of the guys you really like coming into the year. And then David Price we just talked about at three point one, that interesting list of names. M what do you want to go to next? Gentlemen, close your laptops? Place? What are what are our options? You want to go hit her a picture? First? We did pictures, so let's
go hit hits. You want to do hitters? Okay, let's do hitters. Can you name the ten players with the lowest hard hit percentage? No? Simply so, maybe I'm trying. I want to look at somewhere you want to buy right like if y'all I want you to be able to do it this way? Can you name the players the lowest babbitt then the guy the ones that have gotten the least lucky because you I'm not gonna I'm not gonna be able to name all of them. Yeah,
maybe I'll give you two or three? Three venture can you beat the Christian three the lowest babit in the majors. Players are gotten unlucky. All right, yeah, four, I guess you do four? All right, Frank, all right, we'll do We'll do do four. Christian, name four players that are the lowest babbitt in baseball. All these numbers are under two hundred. The bat is under two hundred. Bat is batting average of balls in play. Okay, Um, Matt Carpenter. Matt Carpenter is not this list. Okay, Uh, Let's go
with Byron Buxton. Byron Buckston is not on this list. This is hard. I don't know. It's tough, man, Yeah, like I know who like guys who have high babbs. I don't. I don't know the guys. We could do that, We could do that next. I have that as well. I passed, but I wanted to look people to buy rather than sell that. You've got a guy, Frank, anybody I have a few names in mind. The metanable makes sense that it was um what about Ian Desmond in
Desmond's novelist Massara, Probably you got it. It's a lot of lazy flyballs. That sounds accurate. How about Praza Peraza is not on the list. But he wasn't the lowest hard hit percentage list. When you said hit percentage, he was one of the names that came to UM anyway. So the lowest matter in the majors belongs to Jay Bruce, who's is one sixty. Well, what's his batting average? Terrible? All he does it well. He doesn't strike out or hit fly balls. Basically, you let me know as I
run through, and I'll go through a quickly. As we get some more lists, you let me know anybody you're interested in buying out of these guys. Ready, Yonder Alonzo, Yes you are. That is one seventy two, Riyando Alonso. How are you buying him? His expected batting average, he's he's on the He's in the top ten of the biggest difference between expected batting average and current batting average. Expected batting averages to seventy. He hits the ball in
the air. Um, he hits a decently hard He's walking a ton this year as well, so much better in points, leaves and O B p UM And I think once the weather starts to heat up a little bit in Chicago, you're gonna see some of those flyballs for Yonder Alonso starts to fly out of the park, So I would be buying yonder Alonzo, maybe only in deeper lease, but I do like him, only you just splait the list only in uh I teen team is maybe I'm not really buying him in twelve or a twelve team or
with a corner infield. Maybe I can see that too. One seventy four is the third player list's jersey, jerks and profile. I'm buying why. I mean this, This even proves it even more. He's obviously and he's not like, what's this what's his career strikeout percentage? Can pull for you? I don't think it's that bad that he should be batting that His babbit's one seventy four seventeen percent and this year's four. So obviously he's getting a little unlucky.
That's the point, yeah, right, so and and and he doesn't trick out ton, So this is a guy that should hit a lot better. She is well below his career mark and bad. And even last year when he had a career year, you have twenty home runs, two batting average, he had a two sixty nine babbit. This year he's got a one seventy four Babbitt, so I would send to a and you know, as bad as he is, still has two homers, still has three stolen bases, ten runs, and thirteen ribbies. Those got the yips. You
can't throw the first base. Oh he's got something, But this is the first time that he's playing second base full time too. He's normally a guy that would bounce around the diamond, play a little bit of shore, play a little bit of first base. Overall, I do agree with venture. This is the one where I feel more so I would be buying him in deeper leagues, like in a twelve team league. I don't know that I would be buying right now more yeah, but in a
fifteen team or especially with his versatility could play. I think he has outfield eligibility as middle enfield eligibility. I get behind that. I like buying him in a deeper league, and I would think, like, right now, you could pick up a Javis for third, you know whatever. You could pick up guys that are doing better right now, Michael Javis, who I did pick up recently um to replace Tim Beckham. But like I think later on, I'm not saying that I would definitely buy him if I don't need him.
I don't need him, But like I'm saying, I can guarante almost guarantee that he's going to have a much better production as we go on through the season because of that bad but once something was way too low for him. He doesn't strike out enough four Mitch Morley one seventy seven, Josh Harrison one. Eddie Rosario despite the ten old runs one four. Well, that's because all of the balls that he's hitting are not going to play. They're just over the wall. So that's why his bad
is low. But it is still really low. So I would buy I'm buying any Rosario. He's very good at baseball. I mean, this isn't this is what we were just talking about. Tyler Glasnock. You're buying him high, Greg, Well, he doesn't have a two thirty eight age. He's still producing. He's producing. That's why he's bad is as low as it is because it's basically he's hitting the ball out or probably not gonna be able to get him get ball. Yeah, you're not gonna be able to get him. Ryan O
hearns at Nope, you gotta ask Florida about him. On Friday, Jock Peterson's at one another Florio guy and Kevin Pillar is at you. Guys. Both said an interesting group of players. Guys, well, a lot of them make senense to be this lower bad bits like Jock Peterson. I would expect, Kevin uh, Kevin pull out forget about him, Ryan o. Hern, I guess I would expect, but only three homers you define you don't want to buy that. Guys both said, you can name the hitters of the highest Babbitt Frank, how
many can your name? Five? I'll see yeah, probably five? All right, so with Frank, go ahead. Christian Walker. Christian Walker is a ten on the list. He also has the hardest hit percentage in the majors right now at Yeah. I knew he had one that was up there. I wonder if this guy qualified after last night he missed time. We just spoke about how high is Babbitt was. I'll say him anyway, David dal I don't know if he qualified. I don't. I don't know that he go off as
either he's not on the list. He's not on the list, but he does have a massively high Babbitt. Um, let's go with do do do? I guess when I when I said I knew them. It was basically just Christian Walker. Okay, um no, oh, Cody Bergers were nine on the list. It's a massive but he's mashing right now. How about Christian yelch Christian is nonal list that's your second strike? Um, I will say, marm yeah, come on, Frank, all right, Chris, yes, he said you can get your five the right ahead.
Timmy Anderson number one in the majors with this babit. He's bad currently is four thirty five? Would your Selti Manderson right now? No? Okay, so okay, regression is coming like he's not going to continue to hit over four hundred. But okay, Chris, who else? Um hunted Dozer Doser's nonalist? Okay? I guess I would say, my boy, what's his name? I don't know her? Boy is you have a lot
of boys? No, I just had a guy in my head. Oh, um pulled the young is not on the list, not about I guess he's the rest of the rest of the list. Two of my guys. Elvis Andrews at four babbitt, I'm selling, would selldres right now. A problem with that Boom boom Man at four thirteen. I think about these guys, Greg, is what are you gonna get for them? What do you can get something? What do you get to get
for Elvis Andrews if you trade Treeman SENI? Like, what is what is another Fantasy owner gonna give you for Treeman Seni? Right now? He's awesome? Though, No, I agree with you. That's why I think the point of this exercise is say like, well, is it for real? Can this guy keep it up? I don't you know? These guys are not gonna keep up this massive amount of babbitt for the entire season, but they are doing things differently, like Boom Boom has actually raised his launch angle this
year and he's performing quite well. I still just don't think that anyone is going to give you anything for him Mancini though maybe. I mean, you know, he's producing and listen, I'm not a guy. I'm not a Mancini guy. I'm not big on him, so I would sell him and I think you'd get little him. Elvis Andrews has a forty seven percent hard hit rate right now, you know, I mean you want to talk about a resurgence. This guy is thirty years old. UM dealt with a lot
of injuries last year. I know two years ago he was awesome. He had that career year twenty home runs, twenty five stone bases. But what he's doing right now doesn't look dissimilar from what he was doing that year. Yes, five homer's nineteen runs, twenty RBIs, and six stolen bases, and he's hitting third in the one of the top five best offenses in baseball. Right now, he's got a forty seven percent hard hit rate. So who are you talking about Elvis Andrews. I don't know that I'd be
so quick to sell him. I just I think most I think most people would say sell him, and that's why you're not going to get fair value for him. What are you gonna get for for Elvis Andrews. There's two guys on this list that I would say I wouldn't sell because I feel like this is where they're Babbs would be maybe obviously a little lower, but close to this is Jeff McNeil, because the guy just hits and he doesn't hit a lot of home runs. Jem Right, and he puts the ball in play and he don't
hit a lot of homers. So I expect his bad to be high because he gets a lot of hits. He gets a lot of multi hit games. And then the other one is David Perulta because he's another one hits a lot of line drives, doesn't hit a lot of like unless she at thirty homes. But he's not that type of guy selling those Those those guys, I'm not big on them, Like I'm not gonna own them, but if you do own them, I wouldn't sell them because I feel like this is around like the hot babies.
They always have hot, hot bad. That's what they're gonna do. The other guys like well too, always well usually Chi shoot four oh three, Brian Goubin four oh four, and Dexter Fowler at four US. I would sell Fouler with a doubt, and you know one owns him coming back down to earth a little. Is he gonna keep this up? I trust trade Man Seni a little bit more than I trust Sin Chu. You look at trade Man Seni the age bat a ball profile right now and what
he's doing. He's got a twenty six line drive right when you're you're bad a ball contact when you're putting the ball in play. A quarter of the time you're hitting a line drive, that's gonna help your babbitt. Yeah, let me continue with babbitt. But from the pictures side, the pictures that have gotten a little bit lucky here when it comes to babbitt in the top ten pictures, close your laptop the top ten pictures with the lowest babbitt in the majors. Chris, how do you think you
can name lowest bab in the major? Um? I say three? Okay, I've I've learned my lesson lowest bab in the majors. I would say Luis Castile not on the list? I guess so, um, let's go which, No, not him? Not my sneeze. Now, I was gonna say Strausburg, but I don't think you know he wouldn't be on the list. I would say Spencer Turnbull. The Bull is not on the list. Bull one more? Please more? Guests tell you you really think the Bull is overperforming? Huh dates my
face a little bit, a lot of it. Uh, talk bad about the ball. Let's go. You mentioned somebody before that I think is interesting. How about Trevor Richards. Trevor Richards is not on the list. Trevor Richards, though it wasn't one of my list. Trevor Richards has the highest x FIT in all of baseball at five point seven five little unlucky for Trevor Richards, highest expert in the league. Okay, can you need any players that a little bit? But you wanna just tell you Zach Davies. Zach Davis is
not on the list. Number. That's what I was gonna say. D number one in Babbitt, lowest Babbitt and all baseball. Chris Paddock one six. Saw that to less. I saw someone tweeting about one sixty a little bit nervous? Are you a little bit nervous about the regression alert bat? I mean it's this regression comment. How dramatic is it gonna be? I don't think that dramatic. I don't. I don't think it's gonna be massively dramatic. And I do agree with you that I'm one sixty bad. He's not there,
He's not gonna be able to maintain that. Um he's got one ear a. He's got a two six nine fIF and at three eight x fit, and that's because he's only given up two home runs despite being more of an more of a flyball Pitcher. He allows fort fly balls, so there is gonna be some regression, but I would expect him to settle in around a mid three z A. Yeah, he's at one one right now. There's obvious regression, you know, coming with that. But the thing I'm more worried about what Paddock is is an
inning's limit. At some point it's fatten him, and I think it's fair. You only chernos at one eight two oh sorry two, Domingo her mom one mhm, Justin Verlander at two oh two, Mike Minor at two o four. I was gonna say, chess. How about these two back to back, Trevor Bauer at talking about him before, Shane Bieber at two twenty two? Interesting last two or Caleb Smith once again and then your boy and Nick Vicious. Well, it's a fine line here, and this is what I'll
say about these pictures who have low babbits. If you're a really good picture, you're going to have a low babbit, You're gonna have a low batting average against. If you're one of the elite, then you deserve to be here. Trevor Bauer, Justin Verlander. Those guys deserve to be here, are they going to maintain a babbit this low the
entire season. No, And there's gonna be some regression obviously, Like you know, they're not gonna A lot of these guys have very low e arras right now, and they'll settle in as a even the best pictures high twos e r a low three's ear a. But what I will say is a lot of the best pictures and
maintain low babbage because they're the best. And then the picture self contact I think Bower Verlander and the most interest trying to find the pictures in there that aren't the best picture, the most interesting names the man, he's a really good pitch. Is he this good? Probably not, but he's good. He's really he's good for Chris VNTRA, Frank Stanford, I'm Greg so doesn't think so much for check it out in the BFS.
