You're in the Fantasy Sports where your network alongside Frankie Stamfull and an hour number one today you're a lot of wrestling talk coming your right now.
And number two it's The Closer Chris venters up, Chris, what's up? It's your boy The Close Up Friday, let's go. I'm a little interested in WrestleMania. Yeah, you know, watch Yes, probably stick around for hour two if you just your brother is coming on. I don't know much about a sport, dude, is frank It just Johnny and yeah, I wanted I'll try and mediate it. I'll be I'll meet somewhere in the middle. I'll be like, oh, yeah, that sounds right. Good job Greg, that's gonna be my contract and a
good job Johnny, and that'll be it. Yeah. How are you? Frank? How am I? I'm feeling pretty good. It's Friday. A lot of wrestling this weekend. I'm comfort Tonight n XT gonna be a great show. Tomorrow, I'm I'm coming out to MSG to watch the new Japan Ring of Honor show and the Sunday WrestleMania. So it's a it's a big weekend. We're not gonna forget about baseball entirely, obviously. The first hour here we're gonna talk a lot about waiver wire stuff and recap events from last night. But
I'm excited, man, I'm excited. Do you feel do you feel badly that you're not going to WrestleMania and it's in your backyard? It's it's here in New York. If I've if I've never been to WrestleMania, I probably would. But I've already gone to Rorestlemania, so it doesn't it doesn't mean much. I went last time. They were in I guess the meadow Lands at the time already. Yeah, I went last time. I was so drunk I couldn't see the ring. I had to eat food. It was
very high up, man. You know it's pretty game in herrows Tailgating got to buy a big sausage Hero the same man, I was. I just leave last night? How did I say? Still? Very well? Very well you buddy law? Last night you drank a lot. You're death draft. Yes, the two heavy beers here and then we went to Lare and drinking a lot more during the Game of Throne's Death Pool draft. You must have slept very well. It might have been kind of hard to get up. But yes, precisely. Yeah, I mean I've been there a
million times. We should do a Game of Thrones at the draft. I'm not gonna say my team then in the network for the house scheme, what we should do the opposite? Then why don't we do a survivor draft? Yeah, it's not as I know, Yes, Alex, Alex is complicated. I don't like. I like, let's do the opposite of what you're doing. Then already doing a debt draft. Don't want to do a survivor draft, but you want to, Okay, we do that. Thing is gonna survive, all right, But
I don't want to. I don't want to do the whole network because there's too many people. Yeah, obviously, okay, like people whatever A twelve characters, there are six seventy eight characters. You're not gonna have your team will be yeah, exactly like us. Three cut. I don't know if Steve watch the Game of Thrones will get him in there. I gotta cut it. We'll get Alex if he wants. You gotta cut it. But what do you mean because Brian in there wait wait, women feel like Alex is
trying to talk, but we're just overpowering him. As if you want a reference for my draft. And it's not a death draft, it's a survivor draft. We picked people who think we're gonna get in an episode and survive to the end of that episode. And we have seven teams with seven players on each team. So there was about forty nine people we could pick from in a pool of people that were still alive. Yeah, so we could do something with ten people and have five guys
on each team. It's possible. It's fifty guys. Sure you have to set it up there. Oh no, you're the commissioner of the Game of Thrones draft. I'm already a commissioner of a horribly controversial, fancy baseball league. Constant annoying is doing surgery now was going on. He's got I don't know what's going on here. Greg's all over the place. He's trying to he's trying to set up his head's insane microphone. This was just absolutely I think it was you.
I have no idea you're the last person in that seat, was I wi. Yeah, I guess dude, this is insane. So what are you doing? You're right, I got it. Great. We really got to jump into some baseball though, because we only have so much time talking base I was too busy. Alex just said his league and what he does. Alex has recapped what his league is. It's if you're if you appear in an episode and you survived that episode,
you get points. And it's obviously you want your guys to survive a surviving So if we see somebody in an episode making through it and then they see him in the beginning and they make it to the end of episode, we get a point. All right, Well, Alex's recapping it again for you guys, and time is not a charge. We'll be doing a Game of Thrones draft, which Chris will be the commissioner of. Yeah, you were very excited about setting this up, so you will be
the commissioner, and then that will be it. We'll have a little Game of Thrones draft and uh, that's it. We're wrapping up the conversation game. We'll we'll make it simple to like you know every day that again here advances he gets a point, Like so if a guy survives. After the first episode, he gets a point. Episode two he gets another point. How so, how many people are we doing in this stuff? Maybe ten? Ten, five guys? Whatever the commissioner wants. There's there's just not good. You're
gonna be to have a big roster. You're gonna be drafting people you don't know. That's fine. I'll take uh, I only know, like I'll take no problem, no problem. You don't get points. You don't get points, even in the finals, not in the season. You don't get points for that. What if he he doesn't appear and he
survives all those episodes though he does not bad. If he does not appear in this season, you're not getting But if he appears at the very last episode, but he and he's been allowed to hold you, then you get you only you only get points and episodes of which they appear. Okay, so we're doing the Alex Way. Okay, that's Alex Way. Who knew? Yeah, only everyone here except you correct the right. Let's get let's get into baseball.
Let's do it in the baseball Trevor Bauer last night, gentlemen, and we only have fifty minutes to do all this for the most part. Obviously can bleed over if he really needs to. But I want to try to go through as much of what impressed me the most from last night, and they really getting on into the waiver wire and they've done a nice job. Frankie Chrish going over the waiver wire all week long was just only
when we've talked about these guys. A lot of Reddy only want to do today is kind of prioritize it and think that's what we have to do. But let me start with one impressed me from last night. Of course the first Trevor Bauer who had seven no hit innings, walk six guys but struck out eight Bouer uh told the Mede after the game, Francona did the right thing, pulling the right there. That's what he should have done. Uh Brad Hand blows the no hitter in the ninth
Indians when Bauer very impressive. Frank Yeah, he was awesome, basically picking up where he left off last year. Obviously, worry about the walks here six I had six walks. You know last year he really cut down the walks and that's what made him so effective. He obviously limited
the home runs to uh so in conjunction together. That's why he was able to have such a great year as he did last year with two point to one e r A. You know, cut the walks down to a career below two point nine three walks for nine. Um so if he's reverting back to his old way is where he's still gonna get a lot of strikeouts. We're gonna walk a lot of guys. I don't like that. I want to see better command. Obviously, he was lights out, he was awesome. Um So I'm not gonna take anything
away from him. I just want to I want to see a better command overall. And this is basically a daily watch with If you're streaming, you're starting pictures against Blue Jays. They've been no hit through the like first five innings of a game, like five days in a row. They're very bad, So streaming your pictures against Toronto Blue Jays. The line up yesterday was absolutely brutal. They were They basically started their bench to Bruto was playing right. Yeah,
I mean, but that's really bad. That that's the worst Socrates, Brito batting, second, grit Chuk, Croudy to Les, Jansen, Jansen, McKinney, Billy McKinney, Laurdes Guriel, Freddy Galvi's and Alan Hansen. Yeah, obviously smokes missing from that lineup because up the Nick injury. Right now, Look, it'll get better with Vlad but and eventually, I mean, I don't know when we're gonna see him call up, but they'll get better with Lad, I don't know.
But that's not how much better they're actually gonna get though. This is why I'm not that impressed by Bower, like I'm impressed by ballot performance. We expect a lot from him though at this point, and he's playing the Blue Jay. So he didn't give up a hit, Okay, fine, but six walks he did get out of a situation where he had bases loaded. That was that was really nice to get out of that spot because that could have been a disaster, which he calls himself. Yeah, he called
himself because he walked everybody but um. At the same time, you know, if that was a better team, could have been a whole different story that and he could have blew up and his you know, it could have been a terrible stock easily from that one ending. But you know, he's playing the Blue Jays and he got himself out of it, So I don't know. I'm like six walks
is a lot. That's a lot in one game. Bower was talking about in spring training about how he was working on a new changeup that has been pretty good for him so far, and he's throwing it about eighteen percent of the time on the season through two starts. Obviously small sample size, but um coming into this this year he hadn't he was throwing at eight point four percent of the time. So he's basically up his percentage, his changeup percentage ten percent this year, and he's just
he's going with a different arsenal. He's throwing his curveball less. But he has a four seamer, he has a cut fastball, he has a changeup, he has a slider, and he has a curveball. And this is part of what you've heard about Bauer for years now is he has so many pitches it's kind of hard for him to decide which wants to use. Like his repertoire is so vast, but he's got a hone in and really kind of just master the pitches that he wants to use, like
the four or five pitches. Okay, that's fine, you want to use those, master those and then we'll go from there. It seems like he's still kind of working some things out because he's walking a lot of guys, still getting a lot of strikeouts. So obviously last night was awesome for him, But I really want to see better command and him hone in on just the pitches he wants to use. Most of course, you need to see the better command, and I agree with that. And again it's
early on. You're trying to get a feel for your pitches. I don't want to I'm trying to do better at this discount what he did because of the lineup that he did it against. You have to beat this team. You need to do well against these teams, and you're going to face a lot more terrible teams during the season, and you are really great teams. And we discussed especially pitching in the a ES Central correct and we discussed this a lot when like, oh, it's the Yankees right now,
or it's the Orioles, or it's the Tigers. We can't be too impressed by this, it's the Rays, whatever you face. It seemed all the time, right like, so I don't think we should discount that's as much as as I thought you did, Chris like he was good, like you want to you want to limit the world Walks. I understand you want to narrow the pitch selection a little bit. It's really good performance. It was. Yeah, still still great performance obviously for our fantasy baseball team. Frank, I'm not
on set by the performance here, No, absolutely not. You love it. It's great still quite Frankly, the a L is a lot worse than the n L right now. Like the a L lineups are bad. There's a lot of oreos. Uh, the Tigers the Royals are actually better than those, but still not great. Um, White Sox are getting better. But then nothing's crazy. You know. Oakland's alright. You know the Yankees. You can stream against the Yankees right now. Even Alex Cobb was yeah, absolutely Um. Also
impressing me last night, man, Max Freed. I tried telling you guys that this guy Accordion Freddie Freeman at the most talent of any picture on the Atlanta Nave staff. Last night. We saw it, Frank, Yeah, I mean, look, my biggest takeaway for Max Freed last night was the fact that he didn't walk anybody. He was He was perfect through entering the sixth enning. That's when I turned the game on. He he allowed a hit the center field.
I believe it was to Zigoonists, the guy that they've been streaming against left handed pitching instead of using Kyle Schwarber. So there you go again, Joe Madden, smartest guy in the room. But yeah, Max Freed looked very good. UM six innings, one run, zero walks. I love the zero walks, only five strikeouts. He didn't have a ton of swinging strikes, so that's one takeaway from me or Greg. I mean, they did let him throw eighty eight pitches in the start,
but only seven swinging strikes. But mile per hour fastball for him seventy five mile pur curve, which he threw twenty seven times. So he's predominantly fastball curveball pitcher. But the difference between his fastball losit and his curveball velocity is twenty miles. So I do really like that he threw a change up only five times, through a slider four times. So we talked about this a lot with
young starting pitchers. They normally have two pitches that they really like that they go to a lot and then they try to work work in a third and sometimes a fourth, so I'm sure he's working on those things. But yeah, I was impressed by what he did here and against the clubs lineup that is no slouch. It's a it's a good club's lineup, So I thought it was a great job by Max Freed. I don't he did it perfectly. I was just gonna say that, Um, Joe Madden does have a problem with his pitching though,
darbish getting shelled again. Absolutely, you can't have you can't have Darvish in your lineup. I have him in my home league, points league, especially where you want volume, you want guys that are gonna go deep into games and give you quality starts. He's just walking the world right now. Yeah. I think he had six swalks in his first start against the Rangers. He had four walks yesterday and only four endings pitched. You can't start, you do you think
he's washed? Something's wrong. Look, he's always had command issues, but not to this one. I mean his first start, what was it three plus ending six walks and then yesterday I walked per ending pitched And he's always had command issues. But it's not even like he's missing a lot of bats now and he's getting hit two strikeouts in four ending. That's the thing. Usually he would dominate the wolks wouldn't hurt him that much because he k
everybody or you know, giving good stuff. Now he's getting shelled, so something's wrong with him again. That's a free just for one second. The only question I have is if he'll stay in that rotation as Faulty comes back, um, as as Kevin Galishman comes back. That's that's what you have to worry about. He's talented, he has the stuff. Again, if he pitches like last night, they can't pull him in the rotation. I think who That's my only hesitation.
Who do you think? I think he's a deeper league guy. I would add only obviously, but twelve teams. I'm not doing it. I don't think you can. He faces Colorado next week in Colorado. Exactly, you're not gonna do that. That was the only thing um I want to say. But when it comes to do you Darvish, you can't start him right now. You absolutely cannot start him right. I wouldn't drop alright because paid for On the other side, we also have a no hitter or alert in this
Mets Nationals game for a while. Like both know us Syndergarden and Steven Stotsberg were pitching as as well as they should. Uh, Stephen Shotsburg, guy, you were not on It's pretty well here yesterday. Health is the important thing with Strassburg. We'll come back. We hit on Aaron Sanchez, Tyler Malley, I Spencer Turnbull as well as the ground.
More pitching performances come out next. Enjoyed the show and face for listening well well, well, well, Fantasy Best freensure, however, Fantasy Spoards Radio Network live here on the Fantasy It Spoards or Radio Network. Frank Stampa, the Closer, Chris Ventra and I Greg Susman here rocking and roll with you on a Friday where chilling having some fun. Baseball. Let's continue on quickly here um with some of the stuff that we noticed yesterday, so we can continue on and push through over our number one
you've had. You've always spent your turnbull and ten strikeouts yesterday, Frank, I'm interested. Are you for real in deeper leagues? I'm interested. I'm not ready to do it in twelve team leagues. He does have a he has an interesting arsenal. Man. It looked ten strikeouts yesterday against the Kansas City Royals. Normally, look, I know they have Mondescy, but outside of him, this is the lineup that actually makes a lot of contact.
I looked into this the other day and they were you know, I've been the top five in the league in contact rates to start the season, so they don't strike out a lot. And Spencer Terminal comes in here and he has ten strikeouts, he has fifteen swinging strikes. Put together a quality start here, six innings, two earned runs. This is a guy who you know, made some noise in the minor leagues for for the Tigers as well.
Kind of joked about him before the season, But he has my attention in deeper leagues as of right now. Fourteen fifteen. Team leagues are deeper obviously only just because he has a rotation spot well team leads. Greg, I'm not I'm not ready to do it there yet. Um, but he doesn't have my my attention in deeper league. Me too. I looked into him a little deeper and um, you know, his minor leagues pretty good. As he went
through the minors, he got better. I feel like, Uh, so, I hope the cape per nine thing is is the truth, and then I'll buy in if he could keep that kper nine up. Okay, look at this last year. Last year, across four different levels. Think about this, he progressed from rookie ball to high A to Double A to Triple A and he had uh he had a hundred and thirty three strikeouts and a hundred nineteen and one third any spitch. So he's a guy that has some swinging
miss ability. Is he gonna be a strikeout per any necessarily every start at the major problem? Maybe not, but maybe he's between eight and nine case per nine and no, hopefully could keep the walks down as well. There's some interest there, sure, I think I think I just want to see who's just showing up? Uh, that's obviously huge. Who who does he face next week? And the answer is as the term, but will be facing dream guys
Cleveland Indians. That's another American League team, terrible lineup, Ventura. I'm actually kind of interested in that, alright, Leagues like I'd be willing to stream him against the Cleveland Indians. All right, Yeah, there you go, Spencer the Bull against the Cleveland Indians next week potentially. So my man, Aaron Sanchez was on the other side of the Trimmer Bower game last night. Six innings, two run ball, five kids, walked a couple of guys. Um, not a bad start
from Aaron Sanchez. I know he faced Indians, so we're not a great lineup, and Josian Mirres left this one hurt. Um. Yeah, but I'm okay with this venture from Aaron Sanchez. Yeah. Not not a bad start. I mean, you know, maybe he's still ramping up, right, but it's not. It's a good sign. I guess. You know, he was able to go, you know, deeper into the game and pitch a pretty good game right there. Quality start, I'll take it. Um. I don't know, I don't really have him anywhere, and
he's owned pretty much everywhere. So it's not a guy you're really picking up, right, This isn't a waiver wire guy. No, he's on. I'm just actually owning fort of CBS leagues. So the ownership percentage is not as high as you guys think. I was pretty aggressive on him coming into the year. It all just comes down to health first. Oh my goodness in yellohoo. So he's out there. He's definitely out there. All right, So where's Aaron sanchs fall
with all the other guys who talks about a week? Well, let's let's talk through all the names that we mentioned, because it's it's a lot hard to remember all of this a lot. You know, it's Frankie Mantas, It's Jordan's Zimmerman, it's the Marlins guy. Yeah, okay, so the Marlins guys are probably ahead of him. I don't know about Caleb Smith,
like I might own Aaron Sanchez over Caleb Smith. But um, I'd rather have Aaron Sanchez, Um, I'd rather I'd rather have Jordans zimmer next week, just for the two star a week, Well, I think long term, I would rather have Aaron s montas Is closes for me because I really like Mantas. I like mont Is also, I'm really interested in seeing today mont is a start against Houston. I have not picked a tough one. I haven't picked him up because of that. I didn't want to pull
the triggers in Houston. I did it, you did it. I did it. Yeah, I pulled the trigger in the fancy pit leage. I'm start him against Houston. I'm probably gonna go with him on on DFS today, um, because he's cheaper than the good options, which is Bieber and Pavetta today. Speaking of uh, well, speaking of two things right there, DFS, which is of course on fand Live VF League. We're back today. Two bucks the enterf League left. Frank, No, I'll get in. If you want to join in, send
me your fandel user name on Twitter uh at Rhodo Underscore. Frank, I'll try and get you in there. And again, if you were in the contest last week, you're already automatically in this week's contest. You just have to set your lineup. And again, if you don't set your line up by four or five ishpm today East Stern time, UM, the
slate does start at seven. So if if you don't set your line up, then I'm gonna, unfortunately have to boot some people and try and get some other people, because if we don't fill it up to a certain amount, like get at least fifteen sixteen, and the contest is not gonna run. So I want to make sure that it runs, and you canna have some we can have some fun nts before was later and also you mentioned that the two of the best pictures on tonight's slate
Vendra are Shane Bieber and Nick Pavetta. Nick Pavetta was just acquired in a trade. Oh yeah, I love this trade for Greg. It's not officially I didn't send it. I didn't. I didn't just because I said, I'm just saying I'm still gonna do it. I'm just saying I haven't said send it as this said there right now. Well during the break, maybe he's very I don't understand we made I was in the winness. Your hands on it, that's true, that's true. You gonna pull you gonna actually
pull this right now? Hands on it? Yet? Well, Oh, how bad do you want Nick Pavetta? Now, Greg, I don't want it that badly. I just wanted to start for today. But you're gonna start him like it's a twins in Philadelphia. I started everybody's head to head man, you don't dad, okay right now? And he's on the bench right really, Well, it's a mistake you don't have I'll take him. Well, I'm pretty sure. I'm all right. Let's let's the anti here. What do you want offer
me for provetta, I'm wanting tend to one. By the way, So for saying that I don't know how to play head to head, you are I would say that you're wrong. He is in first Let's see big timers team sucks and they say, well that's not that's not nice big timers. Listen, he's a watcher. Actually an awesome weeks. Well, they're gonna have awesome weeks every week because weeks I have. I have a great team. It's team fat Boys. Much a
much better week. You're you're winning too that I purposely punted stolen basis and I don't have a single sole on base on the week. So I'm very proud of my team. They're feeling exactly what pen saves and holds. Yeah, because I have really good relievers. Greg should have annoyed you didn't I just have hand in column me and then I have Pressley, Joe Jimenez and Lu Trevino has four saves on the four holes in the year, so you have five always on my line up every day.
But Frank, how to play it to head? Categories you're putting you're putting stolen basis. You don't know how to play last because I took all fat guys because I want home runs, RBI's average and ops. Greig dominate categories. Have a good week? Alright, Venture, who's on your team? You want to make a trade? We've made a trade, Frank. Oh no, it looked you want a picture obviously, right, Christmas Party has proposed a trade to you. Christmas. Let's
let's let's see what the trade is. Greg, what's your team name? Venture? All the closure stable? You see what you got? Four? Right before I pull this trigger, I got Charlie Morten's a little interesting, Frank would be you want Frank? How do you categories to having this thing? How about Freeland? Frank, I don't want Frankly I don't really like your pictures. Mentum, I'm sorry, all right, no problem,
it might work out for you, Freeland. I'll do that. No, I'm not so how this story went by the way, I'm sitting there, get rid of the shower. Franks there, I'll change you. Nick Pavett freed water Rodriguez, Like, is Nick better hurt? Yes? No, he said okay, because the water Rodriguez is a good bye lower. So I literally said okay, deal, deal, and he said okay, deal, and
he's a deal. And now I've proposed the trade. It's one of those trades that you just kind of throw out there and you don't expect him to say yes for right away. He has to think about, Yeah, I'm not dude, I'll do one of Rodriguez is a good bye low. Right now, I'll give you Marco Gonzalez ninety one nine miles per hour. Greg, you proposed, I accepted. That's true. Now I still wanted Wardo. I'm gonna accept right now. There you go. I don't know. I don't
have to get sucks h only like Frank accepted. We first traded the first trade of the year trade Nick covetted to Greg for Eduardo Rodriguez. It's that She's like, are you serious, Frank when he said that down stairs. I don't know why why does Why do you think that? No, he Pavetta kind of got rocked in his first start. But I just think Pavetta has like much bigger upside at this point, and based on his youth, what he did last year, his peripherals, the k rate go into
five years old. But here's the thing he's last year, he's been the same for like the last few years. Is he's a he's a little he gets shells at times, he's a little wild at times, he's rocky, he's very shaky. He's been like that for a while now. Pavetta only really had one truthful season under his belt. Wasn't the greatest season. But he's you know, he's developing, and I think he's a guy that can make a big jump this year. Whereas Rodriguez we've been waiting for a couple
of years to make that big jump, still hasn't. He also gets hurt a lot at what so, you know, I just think Pavetta is a safer bet to hit his upside this year. That's fair definitely tougher division for Pavetta to pitch in because at least Irad is gonna get to face the Blue Jays and the Oreos quite consistently. So you know, he faces the blue Jays next week. I'm still gonna leave him in my line up for that start because just how bad the blue Jays have been.
I hear what you're saying about about provetted To. I liked it. I had these guys ranked back to back. I had had Irod ranked one spot higher coming into the season, and yeah, it's uh. I still I think I think Irad has I could take another step as well. You're right about he's been. He's been injury prone, but I don't really like the home ballpark for for provetta to pitching and the insistence banking. During the draft, Greg actually took Irod the round that I wanted to say him.
And once he took Irod, I took Provetta. So they went in the same round. They went like four picks, Part one, D, that's your target, he wrote, Rot to my guy and stand listen, it's close between them. See what happens, Greg's close? Anything else from from last night we were talking about Aaron Sanchez. Yeah, so all right, here's the here the weekend waivers starting pitchers that I have listed. Oh where, Yeah, I'm trying to figure out, like,
where does Aaron Sanchez ranking this mix? So Matt Shoemaker, Matt Boyd, everyone's hot on those guys right now. I have Sandy Alkantar, but we already we've already mentioned the Marlins starting pitchers, Frankie Mantaz, Domingo Hormon, Yanni Charinos. So Aaron Sanchez get started this season against the Tigers and then yesterday against the Indians, so they're good matchups obviously. I like that for him though. I think he needed to get off to a good start and kind of
build up confidence where he's been in years past. So it's a good start for Aaron Sanchez. He's only allowed to earn the runs over his first eleven endings. Pitch got the quality start yesterday. Um, I would rank sho Make he has had good starts as well, but he's also gone deeper into games. They pitch on the same team. It's close to him, man, I think Matthew definitely higher strike out upside. I would take Boyd ahead of Aaron Sanchez.
I would I would take Mantas ahead of Aaron Sanchez as well, but I like Aaron sanch Is a lot too. She we just have a little Aaron Aaron Sanche is fatigue here definitely. But the thing is, I've never owned him, so that's why I'm more likely to be in on him. He's I mean, he's twenty six, is venture you like say, that's prime in your career right now. And maybe the upside things in this high as a guy like Frankie
Mantas and maybe not that boyd either. I don't know, man, I gotta stay Actually, yeah, I think the thing that I worry but the most of him is that he always has blister issues and always but like that's a problem and I hate to be this guy because it always. But the year that he stayed healthy, I mean, look at that him. Ye, yeah, I know, he's not gonna get a ton of strikeout. He's a guy who has a lot of movement on his pitches and he relies
a lot on groundballs off contact. I've I've heard some people say this about the Blue Jay starting pitchers, is you can't really rely on them because a lot of them are groundball pitchers and it's the way that the ball skips on the turf in Toronto. It makes it tougher for their fielders. And not only that they have a really bad defense, like Lorda's Gouriel at second base is not a good not a good defender. Freddy Galvis
Obviously they signed for defense. He's a little bit better, but like Brandon Jury and then Vladimir Guerrero's, he's not going to be good defense. It's not good. Justin smoke is fine, but you know, these guys rely a lot on their infield defense and they just don't have the strongest. They got rid of They got rid of one of the better defensive players and Kevin Uh also true. Also true. So if I'm just doing this right now to meet, Shoemaker and Aaron Sanchez are kind of on the same
level because I drafted Aaron Sanchez more than I did Shoemaker. Like, if I'm designing between and two, I'd probably just hold onto Aaron Sanchez. I think they're kind of similar. But I would rank Boyd ahead of him. I rank on Tops ahead of him. I would rank Domingo Harman and Yanni Turinos behind Aaron Sanchez. That's just my opinion. I don't I don't know if that's I'm with you, Yanni behind him. I like Domingo. You would take Domingo ahead of Aaron Sanchez. I think I trust Sanchez to go
deeper into games and I do Domingo Harmon. You're probably right doing Herman definitely has more strikeout ability for Shure in terms of swinging strikes. What he's gonna do, like he might go five innings and give you seven eight strikeouts every time he pitches. But I don't. I don't think he's gonna go deep into games. The strikeouts will be better will pitch morning, But if Santez can stay healthy, I would imagine the e arra and the whip would
be better than Domingo Herman. What do you think, Greg? Where do you have Aaron changes? So I have aon'sch is probably a little bit higher. Maybe it's because I I don't know, I still will, I still believe in what he can do, like he should Matt Boy to be higher than I don't. I don't know I strike out that strike out upside is just it's tantalized saying yeah, I don't wish you could face his own team. Thought
her moan like her mom is not the movement. I think he's going to frustrate you with walks more than well I think the whipple will just be higher for her mom. That seems that seems to be the one that's the toughest one for me. And I would take Mantas. I get it like so in my in my holy Mantas is out there. I own Aaron Sanchez. Am I dropping Sanchez from Mantas? I would maybe, I'm I'm really high on Mantas. I wouldn't count what I'm saying because I'm I got him ahead of every all these guys,
said Boyd. I think Boyd is the only guy I had actually agree with you, though I have, I have Mantas ahead of Aaron Sanchez. To again, I like Sanchez coming, Yeah, I like him. You want to hold your guy, and there's nothing wrong with that I do. And so honestly, I said, mat is out there. I'd like to pick Mantas up. But I'm kind of waiting to start coach next week faces As in Boston. Yeah, I'm starting for that one. Would you drop him for Jordan's iimmans to
start a week Graig, I'm not. I'm not doing yet that. I'm not going to do that. You would just stash Aaron Sanchez, not not use him. I believe Manta's faces the Orioles. So that's much better, much better. That's your week. And I think Boyd faces the Indians. If Turnbot faces the Indians, and Tigers are probably so. So Boyd's facing the Union. Did you love the Detroit Tigers? I saw Modia with this randomly, I think I would. You're facing
the Indians. I love you basically, you get this tweet out there this morning, all the Tigers versus march rotation? Would you rather have the Tigers and the Marlins? To me, that wasn't close though, Like, people love the Marlins right now? Hear what? People love? You just named four tigers that you like? Who were the four? Turn People love the Marlins, and I'm asking people asking you, I would take the Marlins guys for sure. Yeah, no, there's just there's just
more as good as Matt Boyd has been. Um, the whole of the Marlins pitching staff has higher strike out upside and swinging miss upside rather than just what boy is gonna give you. Because I don't expect Jordans they're gonna get a lot of breakouts. Steinbole might be able to, but jury's kind of still out on him. He's young starting pitchers. We'll see what happened. This has Franks dample guns written all over it. Again he's dead. Oh my god, he's broken in hand. Do
you give? Do you give? King of the Guns? Uh? If I'm really drunk, I'm sure I'll do whatever I like to dance like I do crazy stuff guns. You're a big dancer when you drink. Not really Ventra Yeah yeah, Venture doesn't drink all that much. Multiple times obviously Current Holiday party a couple of years ago, Chris Party, twenties. Venture drinks. He's drinks heavy. Yeah, I don't stop. Yeah, yeah you're not someone like did you have a beer? Yeah,
I'm doing that. I'm kind of the same. I rather have like a nice tea, you know what I mean, something that like it's good to me. It's like a snowball, not one of those. I don't think any alcohol days good. Really wine maybe red wine. I like red wine, that's about it. Like wine. Yeah, that gets you more sleepy than anything. I'm actually not I'm not a wine guy at all, not a Yeah moscato, but is that even really wine? I don't know. Yeah, that's just super sweet,
you know, big on wine. He has been on apothing red that's her, that's her things. She likes bitter beverages. I just ye, I'm I'm looking at you because I'm like, what are you talking about? You very bitter? The wrench? That's great here if you had it? What wrench? That side? No, you always see my beer like I feel it looks good. I feel like it. No, Yeah, we were drinking a
few beers here yesterday. I drank Perroni. I like Perroni and that hits too hard to perni Hi Alcohol contexts Italian beer brewed in Italia is one of the best. All right for the waiver wire guys for this week, you mentioned Alex Gordon as a hitter that you're interested in. Definitely not a sexy name, but play some seven games next week, So even if you just want to stream of for that, I think it's fine. I thought about
picking him up in a twelve team league. I don't know if I would do it in twelve team is anything deeper. I've actually seen him available in a few of my in a few of my fifteen team leagues. I think Alex Gordon should be on in fifteen team leagues, especially where you need five outfielders. Yeah, I I think it's I think it's reasonable. I actually mentioned Alex Gordon
to you a while ago and you just laughed at man. Yeah, that was That was actually yesterday, you know that saw a lot of people tweeting about it too, laughing at Alex Gordon. But I think the circumstances are different this year, and that's what you have to remember, is Okay. Yeah, every year there's like a two week stretch where we pick up Alex Gordon and it's fine, and then we
dropped him a few weeks later. Okay, that's fine, But in years past he didn't have Witt Maryfield and Adlbert Homond is he hitting from him, but he had Hosmer and he had Mustakis at times. But I mean there's been like a two or three year kind of labor here where it's like the Royals lineup was not good, and I still don't think they're great. But when you have Witt mary Field and Adalberts Honesty sitting a table
for you, it's a little bit more interesting. And he's batting third, and you know, I believe he had a home run off of Lefty already to plain Hardy yesterday. Yeah, he was two for two. Yes to play every single day, and Jory Slayer is hot behind him too, So I'd rather have I agree with you for sure. The thing I think people worry about what Gordon is his injuries, because his career has been littered with injury. Again, it's
not it's not a sexy pick. Yeah, how about this, Greig in a fifteen team, would you rather take a shot on Alex Gordon or Christian Walker with the injury to Jake Plant I'm interested in Christian Walker, man, and you kind of sold me on him for a while. I think the upside, I don't want to say he's tantalizing. With the upside, He's very interesting when it comes to Walker getting opportunity to play every day. And he's hitting right now. And you mentioned a lot on this show
that he's hitting not lefties right. He's th real runs against right anders this week. Christian Walker can hit right. He's he's gonna stay in the lineup, and with Jay Lamb hurt, he's definitely gonna be in there for a while. How bad is this Lamb thing. I haven't seen anything yet. I haven't seen an update either. I know it was a quad issue that I believe he left with. He's probably going for tests and I don't know that we've
gotten any information on those yet. Let's see here. Dimonbacks manager Torrey Lavula told reporters that Jake Lamb was diagnosed with a left quad train after leaving Wednesday's game against the Padres. Do do do um. We should know more after testing. So we don't have anything yet, but left quad strain. Surprise of the lands on the I l little ten days, whatever, two week stint, whatever it is for Jake Lamb. But this is this is great for
Christian Walker. I agree with you, Greg, if I'm deciding between the two, and Christian Walker has more upside than Alis Gordon. I think he's gonna play every day as long as Jake Lamb is hurt too, So he just needs a spot. I said this about Walker reminded me a little bit of hays A last year early on, because you have all the bad ball data. He hits the ball hard, he hits it in the air, he hits home runs, but he just needs a spot to play.
The same thing was said for Hayes's aglar early last season. Is it necessarily going to be the same situation. I'm not sure. I don't think anyone knows for sure. But if he gets an opportunity to play in the battle ball data looks really good so far, I'll take a shot. He just he just needs a He just needs a playing time, and I think he's gonna get it. Will Yeah, for at least for a little I would take him
over Gordon. I like Christian Walker as well. What other hitters, Frank, are you highlighting here as people that are someone that players can pick up. Yeah, A lot of a lot of middle infield names here. Greg, you know, if you lost Daniel Murphy or if you lost Trade Turner. Adam Fraser has stolen bases and back to back games. I like Brandon Lott as well. I think he has an interesting home run uh power speed combination, home run stolen based combination. I think he's gonna be in the lineup
most of the time. They're Nico Goodrum favorite of Steve down in the pit downstairs. If you play on Yahoo, Nico Goodrum has over the place. He's off to a hot start as well, and I don't think he's gonna play most of the time too. So in Starling Castro, Starlin Castro's in that mix. So you've got four middle infielders there to try and help you, try and help you with the losses of Daniel Murphy and Trey Turner. Obviously, if you're looking for speed, maybe Fraser is your guy.
I would rank Kettle Marte ahead of all these players, but he's already been added in a lot of places. UM. But if you're just looking for all around play, I think Brandon Lowe is probably my next up favorite, UM, and then Nico Goodrum at Starling Cash rows towards the bottom from me just because he plays in Marlins Park, Greg he might just be hot early. Yeah, probably so um. I got this question today Starling Cash for Yandy Diaz.
So I find it interesting that we kind of jumped off Dydas, but like, given that he was hurt, he was hurt, we missed the game, I'm not jumping off him. And then there was just saying be like out of the news for a couple of days. Much, I'm much Das. Like, I'm really intrigued by Yani Diaz. He's been leading off against left handed pitching. He's got power off scrappy So I like Andy Das over Starling Casher. I think Andy Das is worth an ad too, and he has first
and third base elige. But what do you what do you think between you and Das and Strong and cashtrow venture, I would roll Diaz. I think there's more upside down. We know what Castro has been his whole career, you know. Yeah, And plus, like you said, the lineup is not the Tim Bay's lamp is a little better or maybe a lot better. And I don't I just don't think Castro is gonna will last very long hitting at that type
of face. Hitting hitting on right now. It's only been a like five six games, you know what I mean, Like, he's not He's not gonna do that throughout the whole season. Greg, Everyone's favorite catcher, someone that you've toyed with picking up is William's asked to deal. Been getting a lot of questions about him. I'll go with some far as to say, I think he's a top twelve catcher. Even though he doesn't play every day, he's still gonna see some games
at third base. He's gonna be the backup catcher for this team. He's gonna get random play like pinch it appearances as well. He doesn't strike out, he doesn't walk. So in O b P Points leagues maybe not, but in your standard if you play head to head categories with average or you're playing a Roado league, yeah, I think he should be young. So my mantra when it came to catcher was why would drive to Francisco made everywhere? Was its quality, grid sign quantity? It didn't matter. It
didn't matter to me how much they played. It was just that they were successful when they got in there. Francis gonna be He is starting his third game out of eight today for the San Diego Padres a studio played a little bit more. And he just constantly just gets on base, that's the thing. And while he's not gonna be there every day at catcher or third base, he's gonna play a lot, and he's just so good at making contact, and he's so strong at the ball,
seemingly always finds a landing spot. The reason I didn't pick up a studio everywhere yet is because this weekend and there's different one your waivers around Sunday. This weekend, they're in Philly. They do not have a d H. Does that mean Nelson Cruz goes in the outfield and some things change? Maybe I was worried about a studios playing time this weekend. After that, I agree, Frank, I think he's a top twelve catcher. I'm interested. Yeah, I
already picked him up in one league, so I'm definitely interested. Yeah, I'm right here with you. I know, I kind of pooh pooed the idea you maybe because I'm salty. I didn't end up with him anywhere. He's the folk hero on Twitter. He's he's the hero we deserve. Williams sudo
saw I'm running the first base. Losing his helmet yesterday reminded me a lot of Bartolo cologne, So I think for that reason alone at Williams Sudio, Greg the only thing I worry about is that, you know, if he does get into a slump, he doesn't walk, so that kind of hurts. But because he doesnt that's the thing. He doesn't strike out, so he's going to get hit. He's not gonna get into big slumps, so I think you're okay with that. He's just so good at making contact. Yep.
I'll throw another first base slash outfielder in this mix for you with Christian Walker, Alex Gordon, Jorges Layer. It's Jay Bruce and the Mariners play seven games next week. He's off to a decent start. He's you know, he's got some pop. He's gonna hit a few home runs too. I'm sure the Mariners are gonna be in the market to try and trade him around the trade deadline, but for the time being, he's gonna play every single day,
even against left handed pitching. He's been in the middle of that lineup and Karnacion has been banged up, so that even further um, you know, adds to Jay Bruce is playing time like you have nothing to worry about, and he plays seven games next week. So I don't know. What do you guys think about Jay Bruce is like more than Horror Soler. Do you like him more than Alex Gordon? Um? The thing with J Bruce has always
been he's hot. He's hot, right, he's over three days in a row, earlier last week or is earlier this week, days ago. Um, you know I think the seven games, I'll take a shot or I'm sure I'm interested there over. I picked him up in my home leap over the other guys because they have seven games. I could buy into that. Chris, Yeah, Um, I would take him over, probably the only one I wouldn't take him over. So I agree with you on that. I would take him
over Gordon and all those other guys. You know he's hot right now, you know he has power. I think Walker might have more upside than J Bruce, though, Yeah, I agree, So I'd rather Walker than because I'm excited about Walker at the possibility of what he could become. Jabrius, you know what you're getting. This is wrong with that, but you know you're getting. Yeah, Well, the thing with Bruce two is that you know, he has really bad years sometimes and then he has he's really good years.
This could be one of those really good years. And when it is one of those good years, he's he's very you know, fantasy relevant. He's actually productive, so you might get one of those years out of Yeah, he's worth he's what he does when he when he's productive, he's worth the waive of wide. You know what, guys, it feels like he's been around forever, right, how old would you say? Jay Bruce is thirty two, thirty one something like that, that's what you think he is. He's
twenty nine. He actually is thirty two. I thought I would think the average person might think Jay Brus like thirty five years old. Right, it's because he's been around forever, and to we have twelve years of experience and he's thirty two. So we came up when he was twenty. He came up young. He was a young dude, and he came up and he was just mashing right away. He was hitting bombs right away. So almost take it for granted. It feels like he's been up forever, but
still kind in his prime. I mean, he's got milege i mean for a power here. Look you can you can hit bombs until you're whatever, thirty six, Yeah one doing it when he's healthy once at Nelson Crum not in the lineup today, Yeah, and I saw that still as a hand in Juran. Do you name a name? I do you want to mention and you're gonna laugh, Frank, But I think it's only fair we do it. Royal Loriano has to be mentioned at this point. He's got two home runs this week. He also stole a base,
which is what you want him for. He I think he's already owned in at six percent of Yahoo leagues. Alright, that's more than I thought. It should be. Higher than that, you should be owned in. I agree. That's why the power, speed combinations, that's why I'm bringing him up. I understand the average isn't exactly great, but now once they got back from Japan, it's been a little bit better. He doesn't he has no multi hit games, which is annoying, but he has scored a run in three of his
last four games. He's homer in two of his last four games, stole a base last time out. He has that combination. So as a fifth outfielder or as a utility player right now. I think there's lots of like he's in Houston and Baltimore this week. I don't like the fact that he that's eight, But you know he's gonna be in the lineup every day because of his defense. He talked about that throw when he you know, gunned
down Sander Bogart's at third base. He's gonna be in the line up every day because of his defense against right ease, against left ease, it doesn't matter. So you got two the runs already, he's got a stolen base, struggles a little bit with strikeouts, but it's a good lineup still too. It's a it's a deep line up in Oakland A's line up, not a great environment to hidden, but you know he might be able to go fifteen to twenty homers and fifteen twenty stolen base is something
like that. A h got to fifty batting average. That wouldn't surprise me with with Romo and Loriana, So I think, you know, that's kind of something similar to what we're expecting from Austin Meadows right I don't know. I think Loria Loriano should be fifty old. What do you think venture I'm not in as much as you guys, Loriana. Yet you know I would wait a while before, you know, I pick up romote Ariana. But the thing is, like,
it depends on what you need. If you're desperate for an outfield, you've got like Cedric Mullins in your outfiel or something, then you know, brutal, you know, go for it. But like I think most of the most leagues that I've been looking at, like the outfield is pretty set. I like Solair better still, I like Bruce better. I like you know, guys like that better Still, I would wait a little while. But if you need steals to categories leagues, that's another thing. You know, He's valuable in
that sense. So I'm half in, half in. It's better. It's it's neutral. It's better than being full out right, I'm not fully out, No, gret, you want to go a little bit deeper here. I got some names on the rundown, Dwight Smith, Dansby Swanson, Clint Frasier, Wilmer Dafoe, Lucas Giolito, and Spencer Turnbull, who we talked about a
little bit earlier on in the show. And of those names, Greg, because we're gonna be setting our waivers for our fifteen team leagues on Sunday, White Smith, Dansby, Swanson, Clint Frasier, Wilmer Dafoe, Gelto Turnbull. Who excites you the most? Probably the pictures in Giulio in Turnbull, I think the upside. We obviously know the upside of Gilto. You've spoken earlier today about Turnbull. Um, given the matchups Terbill has next week Cleveland, I like that the most. Then probably the leader.
The pictures by far excite me the most out of those guys. I don't think any of the hitters that you mentioned are long term adds um So, I say the two pictures by far, but I had to pick a hitter. Read to me what wars on White Smith, dans By, Swanson, Clint Fraser, and Wilmer Dafoe. One word Dafoe, we hadn't last year. He got hot, but I'm not.
I'm not like the love of that album. Venture the same question to you in Deeper Leagues, Dwight Smith, dans By, Swanson, Clint Fraser, Wilmer dafoein Fraser, the up side is gonna play with the Yankees lineup right now. I mean who when would he be replaced, Like, who's the guy that could come back first? The soonest and they kind of expect him to come back, you know, two weeks from now, in the middle to end of April or something like that. That's the problem. So it's a more short term and
I like him. See that's the thing. I like him more of a long term guy because I think he could be a good pleasure if you got the opportunity that the thing is are you're gonna add him for a short term, I don't think so. Yeah, a lot of people as it would actually be. DWIGHTE. Smith. He's been he's been playing well, playing every day. He's he's in the lineup every single day. He's back second in every game that he's played against right he's against lefties.
He actually has a hit in every single game to start the year. He has a run in every game but one to start the year. And you know, I know the Orioles are also a hot hot start here and they're not gonna be great, but he has a stolen base. He had like decent power speed combination in the minors in the year's past. I think he's gonna you know, he's gonna hit towards the top of the lineup. He's kind of doing what we expected Cedric Mullins to do to start to you, and you know he's only
four percent on it. And again this is deeper. Obviously only he should be owned ready because he plays every day. But fifteen teamers, if you lost a couple of outfielders, you're looking for a fifth. You don't really like any of that's out there. White Smith is gonna play every day. Dwight Smith. As Frank he had mentioned top of the lot up. We saw him close a lot. He has Yankees. So I will add that people should keep an eye on Alex verdugot you both like, it's all about playing time.
It's all about playing time with him, that's all it is. So you keep your eye on him. I get the guy to wait on if you miss out on these guys. First, we appreciate the time with my friend. But I appreciate the time. I appreciate it. Yeah, thank you, WrestleMania time. Happy Labor Day, labors yesterday. I hope you're right. I hope you don't. We'll see you later on tonight. Oh, we come back. We'll be joined my jeers staff for to break down a WrestleMania
