You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Fantasy best Friends Forever. Do Do Do Do Do Do too. Yeah, there's the Fantasy best Friends Forever. Here are the Fantasy Sports Radio Network alongside for Rankie Stamford, I am Greg. What's going on? Money, Greggy? What's happening? Happy Thursday to you? Happy to do it. Got a lot of injury notes to get into today. With inside injuries, canna be a lot of fun, a lot of stuff to recap from yesterday.
If you aces got banged up, Corey Kluber and Aaron Nola. On the opposite end, Jacob Graham was very good as expected against the Miami Marlins. The world very good. It's probably understanding. Yes. Before all that, Greg, I just sleep byst night, buddy, It's so great man? Uh did that? Did not wake up? But bad? Sixth thirty this morning being main boom me too. That sleep I've had in weeks. You laid the law down last night. No more cuddling you stop it, Na, I need to sleep. I think
night tonight worked out very well. What's going on with you? So we obviousually have the NBA Fantasy I've come up a little bit later on the NBA will be here to watch the show. I believe we are announcing award winners. Right, do we have the the NBA Fantasy Awards. We will reveal the winners tonight on the NBA Fantasy Hour. Then I'm going to go to the bar where I went last Thursday to watch marsh Madness. There's a big draft tonight.
Big draft. The Baker's Draft. No, no, no, no, no, not Baker's Draft of Thrones draft, Game of Thrones, deathpool draft. How does this work? We do it as simple as possible. Four players, snakes draft. All you gotta do is draft people that you think will be dead by the end of the season. Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter the order that they die in or how many episodes they last. Just how long will they be a lie? How long
will they be dead? Eight characters per team. I've just been informed I have the third pick out of four. So it's a four team league league and you have eight? Yeah, Game of Thrones, people who you think die? Okay, I'm actually rewatching the last season right now. I watched good fourth episode season seven last to talk to me? Here? Where should I be going with the first two? You can't play the whole draft. I recognize that. I'll tell
you what my thing, You tell me what you're thinking. Alright, So I have a few locks in my mind, people who I think they're definitely gonna die? All right, right, so well give me my top my top three on my board. Number one the Night King. He's not living through this. Um, I don't know, guy, human number one on your board. It's like semantics, right, Because if they find a way to reverse white walkers back to humans.
I think they can turn him back. Remember the footage from when the Children of the Forest first turned him into the Night King, Greg. I think there's a way they're gonna try and find a way to turn him back into a human. Really find out who he was. Cool you don't think, you know, we'll just find out that he counted him dying. I don't think so. I don't know. I'm a clarification that right now because I don't think. I don't think he's gonna die. Actually great okay, yeah, okay, okay,
uh that was my top spot number two. You're on great Joy, You're on the uncle m m m. That's a pretty good one. I think gray worms will a lot to die. Gray Worms in my top five. I'd love. I'm begging to get gray Worm back. I don't want him to happen, but I think I think he's gonna beging to get him back on the comeback number three. And I feel the most strong about this, like I might move this guy up. Okay, I think Jamie lanisterre so dead, so dead. That's a good one. That's a
good one for sure. As much as it pains me to say to I think Aria, I really I don't love I don't love that. Well. You remember early on in Game of Thrones they said only one pup will survive, right or something like that regarding the Stark family. Yeah, sounds is gonna be like she's gonna live. She's a lot to live if you're doing like a survibra, like who survives is gonna live for sure? Yeah, like everyone wants her to die. It's it's not gonna happen. That's
exactly why it's not gonna happen. Due this season is gonna be filled with like a bunch of things you don't want to have. I could see Terry and dying too. I was rewatching last night. Definitely die. Yeah, I was
rewatching last night. It was the scene where it was the battle where Denaries attacks all the Lanister troops and starts burning everyone, and uh Jamie starts running at her with the with with his horse and picks up the spear and he's about to uh lots to kill her, and then the dragon opens up its mouth and you know, a whole big thing, crazy scene. It was awesome. But Terrian's watching it from Afar and he's like, idiot, you idiot.
There's somebody's gonna happen in this season where he has to decide between like Jamie and Denari Sarian, and I think that's gonna call him to die, okay, which would suck because he's awesome. Probably my two favorite characters. Johnson dies again, No, I don't think so right there anything else? Um, So we had a big debate this morning. We don't read spoil We don't. I don't read spoilers or anything like that. Nobody wants to read game and throwing spoiler.
You don't want to be spoiled, right, Like, walk a very fine line with this. You know that Greg try to like read stuff, but okay, I don't want So here's where I am. We have this death we have this death pool tonight, and I wanted to make a rule that you cannot draft a character that has not been in the show yet, because you know how this guy has been cast like the as like the head of the Golden Company. We know, we know Uron's bringing the Golden Company back to back to back to the North.
We we know that. So one of the characters is that was cast as like the leader of the Golden Company. We all assume, we're people assume that this dude, it's not really a spoiler of any sort. Um. His name is his are Strickland in the book. Okay, okay, so people want to draft this guy, Harry Strickland, but I don't think that should be legal. We haven't met him. Yet like he's in the trailer. Theoretically, now you know he's gonna be in it. I think he should be
allowed to be drafted. So that's like drafting a prospect who've never played before, right, it should still be allowed to do it. That's okay, um, all right, fair enough. So basically it was decided that he can be drafted. But if you draft Harry Strickland, and for whatever reasons, in the show, his name is changed because, like you know how certain names are changed from the book to the show, if his name is John Smith, you do not get him in. Then, like you took the shot,
you took the shot, you were wrong. I don't. I don't think that should be the case. It should be the case. I think it should be. It's like, no way, that's what we decided. Any all right, well, good luck to you great the other great joys, I don't know. I don't know what to make them. THEA had him my team last year and they survived. I can see theon dying for sure. Yeah, maybe I feel I feel more safe about theon dying than anyone else. Can you bet on all this stuff too? Probably? Can? I'm sure
you can. Thean was my last season. Thean was my first overall, I had fourth pick, and they are and Theano my first two picks, and neither of them died. Job Greg, j G. I'm gonna guess you didn't finish very highly in that. Him in second on the season, all right, him in second? You must have? Are you hit on your sleeper death picks? There? Greg? Yeah? All right? What about baseball? Greg? It's baseball? You got anything there? Oh? What do they watch last night? No? I started watching
a new show. Not a new show, but I started watching a show. So after the Yankees, I didn't really watch rich baseball last night, to be honest with you, me neither. Yeah. I watched some of the Mets. I watch some of the Braves game. I watched some of Then I watched some of the Mets also, and then I was like, all right, I'm gonna watch the other show. It's called The Other Two on Comedy Central. I don't know anything about it. Okay, yet Central I thought I
had a shot. Yeah not today. Well, the biggest story, the biggest story once again, thankfully his injuries. So we're gonna talk to Virginia dr a or I think it's dr Ay today we're talking to dr A coming up in about ten minutes from now, but just to talk about all these injuries, because obviously Troy to Luisky got hurt, Like that's not a surprise. I saw a great poll from a guy Neil Keith on Twitter. Ready, has Troy to Luizky played his last game with the Yankees? Yes?
Or no? That's I guess a fair question, right, Probably not? I would lean no, say yes, just cut him if everyone else is kind of getting healthy, he just won't be back. He's just never gonna be He's like, hell, he's hurt, he was honestly back. He'll reinjure himself a time. Look, he doesn't have much value for fans anyway, probably own like Ale only picking up in a fifteen team league. Over the weekend, the bigger story injury wise was Marcella
Una getting hurt yesterday. Jake Lamb as well. Both of these guys get hurt. Both of these guys need out and need need Mr Eyes both not great well, Jake Lamb. Look, we're never rooting for injury. But Christian Walker opens up, could open some regular playing time up for Christian Walker. Christian Walker has been awesome to this point as well too. So I had a few fabrons last night in my
home leagues and people were actually very aggressive with Christian Walker. Um, and it's it probably has something to do with this Jake Lamb injury. And rightfully so, Christian Walker has been awesome. He's been a quad a player as people like to call him, because he's dominated minor leagues, hasn't really had a fair shake at the major league level. Yet. We'll see if this opens it up. I would imagine it does.
Regarding Marcelo Zuna was scratched yesterday randomly the Cardinals lineup and it comes out that it was due to a side right side tightness. So we'll we'll get more from that. Regarding that from infant injuries, Yeah, absolutely, dr a about that coming up in a little bit. Injuries the story thus far early on in the season. But the other big story last night, who mentioned the Mets their opening
day begins in about forty five minutes from now. Uh has this clock game last night where Jacob Degram proved that last year no fluke Frank, Yeah, look it was against the Miami Marlins, but it was still ridiculous. And as we've been saying, early on in the season. Here, if you face bad teams, you're expected to dominate those teams. And that's exactly what Jacob Degram did. I mean, he was ridiculous. He was otherworldly. Again, um had everything working
for him. I'm not surprised, Greg, I'm not. I'm not surprised by this. I think it's been what's the record now, it's like dirty straight quality starts and like that, Greg, do you know of the so I don't know what'll tell my head, but as a guy that owned the ground last year that watches him as a fan this year, he is utterly ridiculous. As long as he could stay healthy like he isn't as good. There is no There was no sign coming in the season he would slow down.
That was the reason he was just second picture off the ward was all said and done. Sale too, I know, I know a few people who still had sale right there. I thought by the time it was all saidding done, I firmly had to Grandma ahead of Chrysale. There was just no sign of anything going wrong with swinging strikes sister Day on a hundred and fourteen pitches. I mean, that's just ridiculous. It's the second start of the season, his average fastball velocity nineties seven point three miles per hour.
Greg back down at ninety eight point eight miles per hour. A few times, I had at least six swinging strikes on three different pitches. A slider nine swinging strikes. There, change up nine swinging strikes. I mean it's slider, Greg, Think about this. Slider velocity was ninety three and a half miles per hour. That's faster than most guys fastballs.
Chrysals fastball. Yeah about this? Uh, Jacob Graham's change up through fifteen times had nine swinging strikes eighty eight point nine miles per hour, the same as Chris Sales fastball velocity. All right, well we went over stale yesterday. We're not technically freaking out yet, but this just goes to show you how good, how dominant Jacob Gram was yesterday and
how how great he has been. Jacobs Gram once again proving as I mentioned, that he is one of its, not the best pitcher in baseball at this point, with a dominating performance of fourteen strikeouts last night for the New York Metropolitans again will open up today City Field. I know our video over duser Martino, you're very excited for this opening day at home against the Nats. Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm more excited than you believe that some people
should be. But that's not what I said. To look at Pete Alonzo's react, Dude, that's not what That's not what I said. I said, you have as a fan, you ever right to be excited, but you can you will care more than the majority of players. Well not that ef it's opening day. Opening day still means something. But because they're hype because it's the fiftieth anniversary of the nineteen sixteen the World reasons. I said that was one of the reasons why they could get hyped up.
And I said, that's entirely irrelevant. That's where we stood. Yep, these guys were getting into a downstairs regarding Mets opening Day. Look, Greg, if Mets fans want to be excited about it, absolutely, I understood, totally understay. You're saying that the players don't really care that it's the fiftieth verse. Correct. You might be right about some players care about it all. Can you say all of them definitively care? No, you can't. No, I didn't say all of them cared I said it.
I said, it's said, definitely a factor that could go into it, that they could get pumped up for that. There's only been two teams in the You wanna do you want to tell everybody downstairs when you're on the air and they could just stop talking, that'd be great, Like yeah, like yo, what yo? Yo? Did you see Moncada's home on last night screaming in the background while we're trying to talk to Martino here? All right? Anyway, this is what it is? All right? Thank you? Um? Anyway,
So yeah, that's opening dick awesome. Like I was pelting for opening Day for the Yankees, but sure Martino is for the Mats and understandably, so what I think fans are more excited? I really do. Yeah, Greg, how about this, we're talking about the Mets, who might as well crap on our Yankees while don't you into anything else with the Mets restaur right now? Uh? Do you? Yeah? I don't care what the DS if I care about I care about Trevor Richards start. I think that's worth mentioned.
It's pretty standard, okay, Yeah, six in five hits, three runs, seven strikeouts. He threw nineties seven pitches, obviously he's in this mix with the Marlin starters. Frank, what did you think of his performance? It wasn't extremely dominant, obviously, but it was still a quality start. It wasn't his best, but look, still had seven strikeouts, had over a strikeout for any only serves up one homer. Uh. The swinging strikes were there from as well. I believe he had
fifteen swing strikes. At fifteen against a good Meths lineup, he had seven strikeouts. Still records a quality start, So I thought it was a fair performance from from Trevor Richards. If you have him, I think it's kind of status quo. Still, if you added him, you you still feel good about him. It was in his best performance. It was still quality starts, so I think you'll take it. I agree it's Mets lineup has been very hot out of the gate. I
thinks I find star from Trevor Ridgards. You pick him top en, you drafted him, You're you're ultimately okay with this, I think had I had a few people asking me about Brandon Nemo yesterday, Greg, what's going on with Brandon Nemo. I believe he has like twelve or thirteen strikeouts in his first nineteen at bats or something like that. You're cutting bait on Nemo or you you holding out Ran for now. He's still leading off today too. If this was happening in the middle of the season, we wouldn't
even tell Night of course started the season. Absolutely if you draft Brandon Nemo in points leagues because of his O b P in Rhodo, do a little bit of everything. I'm not cutting bait yet. Legitimately over half of the Yankees lineup is out, and a whole lot more thankfully hopefully gives a timetable on some of these guys. We're joined right now by Dr A from Inside Injuries here as we are each and every Thursday on the
Fantasy Best Friends Forever. What's going on? What's going on? Dr? Every thing as well? How are you guys? We're okay, man, We're okay. All frustrated by our team and the injuries, but okay overall. UM, let us start with the New York Yankees, and let us start with um. I think the one that we're probably most scared about it Frank, and that would be Miguel and do Are who has a tear and his rotator cough. From what we understand, he was just sliding back to the basic totally looked
innocuous and finished the game after a today. My shoulders bothering me. He thought he had a bruiser, was a little sore. M R. I reveal a small tear. He thinks he could rehab it because they're still strengthened that shoulder. I obviously don't know what any of that means. Hopefully you can break it down for us. Yeah, So first of all, it's I think it's a small labor room, not a rotator cuffed tear um and so, which is actually uh not it's not good news that it's a
labor in tear. If it was a rotator cuff tear, actually a better chances of healing. But a laborl tear is essentially you know, it's a very sensitive area. It's the cartilage between the humorous and how it articulates with the shoulder um. And it's basically torn and and you have that has to heal completely, especially for a third basement. It's just throwing shoulder. Uh. And you know this thing in one throw, if it's not healed properly, can recur
um you know. And so it's a Greade three shoulder injury, which is usually reserved for laborl tear. And right now our HTR shows that he'll return on me the t so um, it's gotta we have with rehab and everything. Uh, it's usually about six weeks of healing, with about two
weeks of slow rehab. So May twenty seven is what we're looking at all, Right, So if you had heard swords end of May, which sounds pretty reasonable, they're gonna shut them down for a couple of weeks and then they're gonna wrap them back off and maybe the end of its fine. What are you saying that he can theoretically, from your understanding, rehab rest and rehab this injury and not have surgery on it. That's correct. It depends on
the size of the laborl tear. If it's a small laborl tear, uh, you know, usually these types of things can heal on their own, and uh, and that's that's that's all that needs to be done. If there if there's if it's a larger laborl tear, if a piece of a fragment has fallen off, if there's any other concomminant type injuries like uh, you know, some sort of um bone contusion or sort of cartilage other cartilage injury it's said ligament injury or anything like that, then obviously
surgery would be needed. But um, from what we're hearing and what we have aggregated, this is something that they could probably rest and then re em riot and make sure that it heals and then you can go back into rehab. So there's a really good chance that he does not need certain are on May twenties seven, they'll be back right, So that is actually very good news from Dr A. Frank though I'm not used to it, but realistically, the eighties are trying this exactly what Doctor
A suggesting. Let him rest for a couple of weeks. It's currently April fourth. We know he's gonna rest until the next m r I was exactly what Dr A said, and then ultimately ram him back up and if the m r I does show some healing in two weeks after they've rested him, and he will be back towards the end of May, which is great news for fantasy owners every the Inankees. Yeah, the end of May early June, that looks like the earliest we might be able to
see Miguel and do har again. So obviously for fantasy owners to try and hold onto him for as long as you can. I know a lot of these injuries are piling up, but as we spoke about earlier on in the week, try and hold on to and hard the best you can, and then you know, if it comes out a month from now that uh, you know, he's trying to rehab and something else happens and he doesn't need surgery, then at that point we cut him. But again, try and hold and hard as long as
you can. N His teammate, Jihan Carlo Stanton, you know, the guy, he likes to pump a lout of iron. He's he's got the big arms, got the big biceps. It doesn't matter how big they are, because he's strained them. Uh. He you know, he has a greade one strain of his left bicep tendon quote on a funky swing and he's been shut down for ten days. How long do you cause injuries tends a last? Is this something that can recur? When do you guys expect John carl sand
to be back from this injury? Yeah? Grade one biceps strain is not that big of a deal. Um. You know, when you guys pump biceps and you work your biceps in the gym almost you know usually you know, usually your biceps are closer. You know, the the amount of edema that they develop is about a you know, point five to grade one anyway, So this is something, uh that um, you know, it will be about a week
for him to recover. Doesn't really need anything. He'll take some you know, anti inflammatories and hydrate and just slowly start to make sure that you know, he can swing with the power that he needs. Don't be surprised in the first week he's trying to slap things towards the right side of the field just to make sure he gets back into the you know, thick of things. But I would say our hdr On, our algorithm is saying that he'll be back on April the eighth, So that's
pretty good news as well. Regarding stating, it almost sounds like, you know, and I don't want to misquote you, Doctor A, that you're kind of calling Stanton a big pansy. I am not. Uh, you know, we want him to have zero strain and his biceps when he's swinging really hard to try to hit five foot home runs. But you know, let's not have him give him any pain, you know, especially the amount of money the Yankees are paying them. So I think Dr A won't call him, and I'll
call him. I'll call Stanting the pansy. Listen, You're that's silly because you want him to be healthy. You want him to be ready to rock and a hundred percent. It sounds like according to Dr A Rush for the week he's I l and after that he should be back, which is we dealing hopefully mid to late April. Hopefully we get him by them, I think, and I think you will. I think Joe Carl Stanton with the first of the all of these things, we're two for two.
Good news so far, Greg, good news with all with all the Yankees thus far, which is which is very very rare, so um having to obviously see it. Um. Hopefully we'll get Aaron Hicks back soon enough as well. But he's still, by the way, has not done a single baseball activity. I love that we keep getting updates. Oh, Aaron makes is feeling so great. He's feeling so great.
Hasn't done anything literally not what he feels great. I feel great when I say on my couch to Greg the same, I feel great, especially when I when I have chips next to me. Yeah, you know, right after you do your bicept curls. Exactly, they're exactly so. Speaking of New Yorkers or former New Yorkers, as Daniel Murphy got hurt with a finger injury out of nowhere. That finger injury. I had him sit for a day and now potentially sit for a month. And what's up with
Daniel Murphy And how serious is his injury? Yeah, Usually when you have these index finger injuries, UM, they're typically what's called volar plate fractors. They're just small little evulsion fractors off of the base of the bone. UM. Usually that just requires healing and uh, you know, and it's really not that big of deal, especially for a first baseman. Um. You know. The only thing that that is of concern and that's what the m R is for. And I wish I had put my eyes on it. But there's
tendon or ligament damage. Um Uh from what we've aggregated, I don't think that they are showing any concerns about any ligament or tend to damage. So you know, this is a typical four week recovery time. This is a very non displaced type of factor. Once that heals completely, he's fully healed. So April twenty nine is kind of what our HTR saying. So the end of the month may first as kind of what we're predicting that he should be good to go. All right, so pretty good news.
But it was Daniel Murphy, who you know, it's been estimateings out for about a month. You're looking at like May first issue, and I think that's pretty good news once again three for three with Dr A. Speaking of injuries, Lindsay Adlerge just tweeted out via Troy to l Whiskey said he felt something wrong with this caf at the end of his final swing yesterday. Was sure if it was just a cramp or something, so he went out, laid some defense. He'll be down for a couple of
days and be reevaluated. Alright, well par for the course when it comes to Troy to Law Whiskey, but obviously doesn't have as much fantasy relevance as the rest of the guys that we're talking about. I wanted to quickly follow up on what we were talking about with Daniel Murphy. Doc. I've seen this term thrown around mallet finger. What is that regarding Daniel Murphy and is that something that can
kind of throw complications into uh his recovery. Yeah, you know, um and and I just and literally I should have said, Mallet, there's two types of the vulsion fractures of the finger. There's a volar plate that I just told you which is on the on the under surface of the finger, and then the mallet injury is on the opposite side. It's on the what we call the dorsal surface or you know if you if you keep your finger like that,
it's actually on this side, not on this side. So um, it's like kind of a chip fracture off of the base of the bone. Um, but it's on this side, not on this side. And so it's basically the same type of healing pattern. UM. As long as there's no ligament or tendant injury. Four weeks is good enough for that thing to completely heal and to get back into rehab and you know, to start to throw again. So you know, we're looking at the end of April early May. Okay,
good news there for for Daniel Murphy. Let's move over to another hitter who has a fracture in his right index finger that would trade Turner off to a really hot start head two home runs and four soon bases over the first weekend of the baseball season. We all saw it, uh two days ago when he tries to square up with the bunt, gets hidden right on his finger, and you can tell as soon as he goes down he was super frustrated. It turns out that he does
have the fracture. How long is Trade Turner expected to be out? I think that this is no injuries good, but at least it's not something to his legs that can affect his ability to steal bases in the future. What's his timetable looking like? So this is a different type of fracture. This is a blunt force trauma fracture. You know, when you have a fastball or baseball that just hammers the finger dead on. Uh, and it's sitting
on a bat. You know, it's got no relief for anything. Uh. It's probably what we call more complex the fracture as opposed to the other factors that we just talked about. So this one probably will require about a seven to eight week um optimal recovery time. And so our HTR for him is May the twenties, between May twenty one and May right now out. But it does heal completely, Um, it'll just you know, it just needs about you know,
six to seven weeks to heal. Not the best, all right, So we're we're three for four here in terms of in terms of good news. But look for fantasy owners, you want trade turner to be on when when he returns, so that he can kind of pick up where he left off early on in the season. Here, Greg, Now, if they try to rush him back and get him back early to mid May, you know, that's something that would actually worry me as a trade turner. I'd rather
him be when they bring him back. As you say, as we all noted, right, it's a finger injury, so that's not gonna affect his speed in anyway, nothing to his leg or his ankle or his calf. But he has to be a percent so they can grip the bat. Absolutely absolutely. But I'm glad that his speed is not is still going to be there so when he does come back, and very very hopeful that I'll pick up right where he left off, which is obviously the goal for fantasy owners. We're talking to dr a here of
inside injuries. The story of Major League Baseball through the first two days of the season in Japan was harder strictland. Two days, two saves, came back blue one and the next day he's only sixty d d L. What is Yeah, so, uh, the biggest problem is is that a he's a you know, right handed pitcher. No, I'm sorry, he's a relief pitcher.
And he's got a Greadte three latch strain and uh greade three means a partial tear of his lat and so, you know, especially because how sensitive the throwing extremity is for pictures. Uh, this is a real big problem, uh for the sort of throwing shoulder um and so um, you know, the optimal covery time for this type of injury, were actually uh saying it's about ten to twelve weeks. Uh, I mean they're saying a sixty day I l but
we're kind of downgrading him even further. Unfortunately, he's about a ten to twelve week So we're looking at uh more of a time frame um in early July or mid July to return. It looks like Anthony Zac my guy Greg will be the closer for the Mariners until then. Obviously they're gonna try and ship him out. They want to build up his trade value and hopefully for their sake, trade him around the deadline and maybe right around then Hunter Strickland comes back healthy and the second half of
the season he's the closure again. I think that's probably the most optimistic way of looking at things. And no, maybe you stash him in like an a L only on your I L, or or a fifteen team mixed if you have an I L. But if you need a roster spot. Of all the injury we've talked about, I think Hunter Trickland is probably the most drobable of all these games. If if he comes back off the sixty day d L right away, I would be very concerned. You know. I think he'll probably have thirty to forty
days after that. I to make sure he gets back on it. So if he does come back and they're saying, okay, he's good to go in early June, I would not. I would stay away from him because our statistics and algorithms show that he still needs all the way to July for this type of injury. Okay, so even more so than Trade Turner, We're we're getting an update of
Hunter Strickland here. Uh and DCOR is clearly very worried about him coming off that sixty day I L. I want to ask you about Marcel Ozuna yesterday scratched in the lineup from the from the st from St. Louis Cardinals, he's dealing with a quote side injury. He had side tightness, so that's regarding the oblique. I'd imagine he's going for an m r I today. But I know that these things can tend to linger for hitters, especially someone who you know, swings as hard as they do, like like
Marcelo Zuna. So what do you guys have on them as of now and and how long do these types of injuries typically take. Yeah, I love the body part called side, you know, because there's about seven muscles that it could be. You know, it could be an oblique, it could be a lad, it could be a serratus anterior, it could be like I mean, it's just there's a
bazillion muscles that it could be. So honestly, um, you know, overall, if you get got soreness on his side, statistically speaking, you are correct, it's probably an oblique, but you know, there could be a complexity of multiple muscles is involved until he gets the m r I. The only thing I worry about, I'm not so much more worried about, um,
you know, his hitting. I mean, obviously that is of concern because they do use a lot of these muscles also as an outfielder, you know, chasing balls and line drives, and you know in the beginning, uh, you know you've got you used your full body course, not just a lower extremity to initiate movement in terms of going after balls in the outfield. And so you know, I worry about him catching up to you know, hard hit line drives and you know these types of things as well.
So you know when you talk about side soreness and oblique soreness, you feel pain no matter what, no matter what you do any type of movement, et cetera. And so right now, you know, uh, we don't really have a grade on it at this point. I mean we're we're predicting that it's going to be a grade one. But if the m R I comes back and it just shows a good amount of fluid within the oblique, then it could be a grade two and you can see him be out for eight weeks. Eight weeks is
not what you're hoping for. Great, I have zero shares, but he will be good for our fantasy team potentially. Oh yeah, it could open up some plaining time here for the real deal. Tyler o'new right, absolutely, Tyler O'Neill potentially in lives and playing time. A true opportunity for him in Marzello's you know, is out those eight weeks that Dr A's suggesting he will be talking to dr Ay from inside injuries. One name we talked a lot
with you about over the past month or so. It is Francisco Lindor who heard his calf, worked his way back very very quickly, then re injured his ankle so much so that he said he forgot about his calf. How serious is the ankle injury to Francisco Lindoor and how soon good fantasy owners expecting to back? Yeah, this is the life of a short stop. Basically, you know he's got there. There's there's a lot of these lower extremity grade one, two and three types of injuries. Calf, ankle, Uh,
don't be surprised. A little hamstring here, a little quad. I mean, there's a lot of mobility that's required. There's a lot of running on the basis there's you know, there's just a lot of ground that they have to cover. Um, this is a great two ankle um and that worries me because of the right calf strain again and um, these types of injuries tend to recur, sometimes in the exact same body part that the injured originally, or in a related body part, which is the you know, the
opposite ankle. If there's any type of compensatory action, uh, that's given. And so that's why his injury risk was one in a quarter before this injury, and he got another injury. So now his injury risk is probably gonna be cent and so UM. You know, for this particular injury, it's a four week recovery time, and so from when he injured it two now we're right now looking at April. Um. But you know, don't be surprised when he does come
back on the field. Um. You know, you'll you'll continue to get these types of tiki tech uh, two week, three week, four week type of h you know, resting injuries in the lower extremity with Lindor, So Francisco, Lindor coming back. But we'll see how healthy he remains for the rest of the season. Doctor I said, it's gonna linger all year, and it kind of has, right, it has. I can't have injury optimism for Lindor, especially when we're depending on the steel bases. Doc, real real quick, Uh,
Jeremy Jeffers sets to undergo a rehabitsignment tomorrow. When is he healthy to return? Yeah? Great to right shoulder, looks like it's rotator cuff. Three weeks, optal more covery times. So I mean April seven is probably right, uh, you know, right right kind of in in his sweet spot. Hopefully there's no secondary injuries. Um so right now, great to right shoulder, rotator cough three weeks. What it means Bradley
zero will have to wait, Frank, oh, next week. Maybe we appreciate the time, sir, have a wonderful week and what's all the next week? Okay, guys, have a good week. Awesome? Alright, A whole lot more to cover from yesterday. A lot of people you're performances break him down next. No, it makes it fun. Um sure, I mean it's not really that fun for me. It's probably just gonna be turkey and cheese, pretty standard standard sandwich. Greig Good, Let's get back into some I
don't know how to transition from this. Let's get back to some of the pitching performances from last night, including the ones that stood out to meet the most, and that was Carlos Rodan six innings of one run ball. He struck out nine. Carlos Rodon, obviously, one of these four were top prospects who've been waiting, waiting, waiting for
him to remain healthy and obviously remain effective. Last night, I guess yesterday afternoon, facing Corey Kluber, he was very, very good, only about two hits and then he walked one guy. He was awesome, real or fake? Frank M. I want to say really because I liked Rodan coming into the season as a as a sleeper here. But basically just throws his four seam fastball and his slider. Yesterday threw a hundred and three pitches and n eight
of those we're four seam or slider. So he only threw five other pitches and those were changeups and he didn't get any swinging strikes on those. He had fourteen swinging strikes on his slider. The slider was very good. You know, I watched highlights of this performance. Um, he had people swinging and missing at the slider all day long. Again, it's the Cleveland Indians lineup stream while your starting pitchers against him. He had two swinging strikes on his fastball.
His fastball that average ninety one. It is only only his second start. Um, you know, he could ramp up that velocity as the season goes on. But I want to see more, man, I want to see more velocity out of him, Like one is just it's not gonna get it done. Even last year when he struggled. His fastball velocity was you know, a couple of years ago when he was everyone's darling, sleeper darling sixteen seventeen all over ninety three miles per hour on his fastball velocity.
So I gotta see that velocity jack up a little bit. I'm not necessarily buying in yet on Carlos rodon I think it's kind of been a product of the teams he's faced. I believe he faced the Royals in his first start, and he faced the Indians yesterday. I'm not totally buying Carlos roddon either. Um. I like to walk to strikeout ratio for sure, that's great, But I want to see him if he can continue, I don't want to.
I know I did this a little bit yesterday. I was like, hey, the competition was terrible, but as you pointed out here, fifteen strikeouts, two walks on the season. As you pointed out, though, you gotta win those games, and you gotta do well in those games, and you should do that, and that's exactly what Carlos Rodon has did has done rather and the fifte units you strike out, the walk ratio obviously a lot to absolutely love right there, so we'll see. I was gonna wait to see approach.
I'm not running picking up Carlos Rdan what I'm interested. I'm retreat. That's kind of where I am on him. On the other side, Corey Kluber three and the third six runs allowed, four earned three walks, gross out in my Corey Clober, I believe that makes two in a row. That was last night was actually fine his first start. He was un twins last night. Yesterday afternoon, did not
have it against the White Sox. He didn't. And I tried to read a few articles regarding Corey Kluber's performance yesterday, and a lot of what I saw was just mechanically. He was off. He didn't have it. He was relying on his cutter a ton a pitch that he threw more than any other pitch yesterday through twenty seven times. Terry Francona basically said that the cutter was the only thing that was working for him, so he had to keep using it. Uh, he wasn't fooling anybody, this is worrisome. Look,
he had ten swinging strikes on eighty three pitches. He got bombed a little bit yesterday. He was dealing with the mechanics issues. But we were kind of worried about Corey Kluber entering the season. And it's not like the White Sox lineup is okay. They're off to a good star at Mankada is obviously doing very well, Yana Alonzo, Jose Bray, you and Eloy that's like the core of their lineup. That's fine. I don't think it's you know, one of the ten best lineups in baseball. And he
just didn't look good. So Corey Klueber someone you know, you have to pay attention to here over his next couple of starts, see if he bounces back. I believe in years past he has been a slow starter. Greg Um like the years that i've Corey Klueber like, he typically gets off to these slow starts. So hopefully that's that's just what's going on here with Klueber. But there were things that we worried about coming into the season with Klueber, and I don't have any shares of him.
I'll go as far as to say I was actively avoiding him, Like, you know, if there was Bauer in the same range of where he was going, Syenador guard, if Snell was in his range, I was taking all of those players over Klueber. But let's just see if this is one of his normal early season struggles. But as of now, I don't feel great about Corey Klueber. No, I don't really feel good about Quick Cluber either. He
was not target of mine either. We had asked Nick Pollock a lot about this um, and we didn't see the signs of Justin Berlander. We did see the signe of Corey Kluber. One of the reasons why we decided to be a little cautious with Cluber. I didn't fall into him anywhere. We certainly didn't actively target him anywhere. You know, we'll see it's certainly it's like, doesn't matter at all that you keep hearing that the Indians are shopping,
they're starting pitching. Right, there's either shopping Clueber or Bauer, one of these two guys. Could it be that you know, they have the same kind of concerns that we do over guy like Corey Kluber, and they're trying to sell him based off his name value. While they still can't, it's certainly possible. So I think so too, absolutely certain possible if anyone knows. Again, look, the Cleveland Indians are a great organization in terms of developing these starting pitchers.
If anybody knows that a picture is starting to deteriorate inside of their rotation, it would be the Indians because they've seen Corey Klueber rise up, and you know, if they've seen something that concerns them regarding him, maybe I mean back down to Earth from where he's been the past couple of years. Maybe that's why they're shopping some
of these guys, or specifically Clueber. Absolutely Bower is awesome, I said, I don't think we worry about anything with Bauer regarding the trade, but maybe maybe that is why they're trying to trade away Clober. Maybe. So other pitching performances from yesterday that we want to take note from, U let me get to Toronto next, because is the one I had the most questions about, and that's Matt Shoemaker. Matt Shoemaker facing off against the Orioles and unfortunately Jimmy
alcabonus up a run yesterday setting up. But Matt Shoemaker never understand this love for Jimmy Jimmy alcabonus two hits for shoe each, strikeouts seven innings of zero shoe, Oh are you? You guys are boys? It's nickname Shoe. I think you used to used to call out the King for nicknaming his Mets players as if he were you know, why didn't call on a first name basis with him? Why didn't I'm not calling him that, I'm calling him
Shoe the shoe, Matt Shoemaker, Boy the Shoe. I mean, he's not like Jimmy Aca bonus level of being your boy, of course, not sh shoemakers me one of my guys for a long time, to be honestly, Yeah, he's bounced around a little bit. Honestly, I've really liked Matt Shoemaker and his first two starts identical, seven innings, two hits, no runs. First starty walked to the last. Yesterday he walked one. First started, struck out seven. Yesterday he strug
out eight. He's got a fifteen to three shout out to walk ratio with the e r A of zero, Mat shoot Matt Shoemaker hasn't exactly faced the stippest competition facing off against the Tigers in the Orioles. But he's a talented guy. What do you think, Yeah, you're supposed to dominate obviously when you face these teams. We're gonna continue talking about that. And that's exactly what Shoemaker has done to this point. And yesterday throws ninety two pitches,
eighteen swinging strikes obviously helped contribute to those. What do you have eight strikeouts yesterday overall? Um, you know his bread and butter is that split finger pitch that he throws. He tore her thirty nine times yesterday got another ten swinging strikes. I believe he faces off in Boston next week. Greg, that's a little bit tougher than what he's been faced with.
He or Um, I'm encouraged by it. I think he can have some sleeper upside, Uh the end of your rotation, you know, your fifth six starting pitch or something like that, if you want to get him in there and the right matchups. Certainly, But at Boston, I know that they've struggled the past couple of games against the Oakland A's. I am not trusting Matto Shoemaker on that level yet enough to put him in my lineup at Boston. But I certainly do like what I've seen. I think he
should be owned. I think he's earned that. Greg, Um, you know, you see you're starting to see the ownership percentage jump up a little bit here. He's on in fifty percent of CBS sports leagues. On fact, Greg Glio sent me a trade off for yesterday in our home league regarding match shoemakers. Trying to get match Shoemaker off of me. He offered me c J Crone and Marco Gonzalez. He's trying to, you know, prey on my likeness here.
He knows that I like Marco Gonzalez and Crone. Um, and I give up Carlos Santana and Matt Shoemaker, which I declined. I would not say yes to that trade, Frank, I wouldn't either, just because it's a points league and we know how great Carlos Santana is in points leagues. And as much as I like c J. Chrome, he's been in and out of the lineup a little bit here for the Minnesota Twins, so that's been frustrating. Um.
I just like Carl Santana more in points leagues. You know, the difference between Santana and Crone to me outweighs the difference between Gonzalez and Shoemaker. So I'll just hold on a Shoemaker, see what I have in him. It wasn't a bad trade offer, but I'm gonna hold on to my guys for now. The Shoemaker, the guy that today you're running and pick off the waiver wire. If he's there,
mm hmm. If he had a better matchup next week, I would be right like, I'd want to get him in my lineup, someone that I'm rushing out there to pick up. I want to be able to put him my lineup with everybody leagues. Yeah, and he's on in fifty percent of CBS, so that tells you maybe his ownership percentag should be a little bit higher in Yahoo.
I'm not running to Adam greg. I would like to add him if you have like a dead roster spot, but I'm not gonna drop someone that has value still for Shoemaker yet, just because he's facing Ballston next week and I'm not gonna be able to get him in there for the Orioles. Nick Karen's was the opener with Jimmy yakobonus trying to get some innings there. Richard Blyer pitched the fifth and sixth year. Again there's no closer
in Baltimore. Over note Randall green Chuck to home runs after getting that contract extension, the probably the most surprising contract extension I've seen yet, the good Chick like five for fifty two, right, it was just like, why are we getting random green check fifty million dollars? I don't know. And and this is coming from someone who I've actually liked, grit Chock coach. I think he's been a little bit undervalued, but maybe he is. He doesn't necessarily put it together.
Three home runs now on this early season, including two yesterday. Uh my man Boom boom with his third home run of the year and stop won't stop Boom boom Mancini. I got him in both leagues where I where I had bids in on him. What did I tell you? I said, whoever had a better day between boom boom Mancini and Ryan McMahon would be on my team. What on the squad? Boo booo man in a lat of today? Yeah, absolutely getting it done right now for the Baltimore Orios.
I believe they place in games next week as well, so that's why I was pretty aggressive in adding him. I lost, Yes, they do play seven games, four against Oakland, three at Boston. And I was aggressive because I lost Giancarlo Stanton in one league. I lost Miguel and Hart in another league. So I'm picking him up to be my outfield in one, my utility in another. And you know, I spent three dollars out of a hundreds, so three is percent of of my budget here, and I think
it's warranted. You know, I think he can hit closer to seventy with home runs this year in a good ballpark.
It's not a good line up at all. But I think that's part of why he was devalued in draft season and was lurking around on waiver wires because he plays for the Orioles probably and and and listen, right now, Mancini is owned in dotyleague, so it's still fifty seven in CBS the fair ownership, right but right now, on the year, ten twenty four or three homers in an average of four seventeen Todd He's always been a pretty good player it's just can you lift the ball. That's
a big question, that's it. And so far he's doing a better job of lifting the question. He is, all right. So let's see here, obviously very small sample size. Yeah, he's actually wow, he's doing alright. So for his career coming into this season, twenty eight point six percent fly ball ratio so far on the year, it's appearances seven point four percent fly ball ratio. So clearly trying to make an effort at least. Yeah, So he's trying to
lift the ball a little bit. And this is a guy who makes decent contact at his strikeout rate has been around so a little bit higher than the league average last year. The batting average regress it's forty two. He's better than that. It's hitter like he was probably not either, So meet somewhere in the middle seventy again, if he lifts the ball. He's hit twenty four home runs each of the past two years greg with that groundball rate. So if now he's lifting the ball, maybe
he can get thirty home runs. Maybe he can exceed thirty home And this is cheap pop that we're getting off the waiver wire. I'm in on boom boom. I like, it had a really tough year last year, but why not? Why not? And and he's batting clean up, so the RBI opportunities are gonna be there as well. Look than a third in the lineup today, it's not tremendous, you know, RBI opportunities because look, it's Jonathan VR ahead of him, it's DWIGHTE. Smith. But and he's driving eighty getting in
the middle of the line. I'm sure. Yeah, just Davis all the way down through seventh in the Orioles latup today, Lefty, Lefty, he's in there. Since they're regarding that one facing Jimmy Paxton, Yes, I have a feeling there, Jimmy Paxton with Chris Davis in the line of Jonathan VR at the top leads off when Jonathan VR is betting third Cedric. Cedric Mollins has been brutal, very bad. But you know, he's not striking out. That's what I've noticed. He's not getting out.
He's just getting out. You're right, like it's he's just not making good contact. But I would be a little bit more worried if he was just striking out all the time. At least he's making contact. What he's out of the lineup today. One more pitch performance. I wanted to get to you before we hit the break. He was yesterday afternoon between Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta, and it was just a very very quick game. And it
was just the gem for both of these guys. Not really the pitching uh masterpiece that you were expecting, right, not Brews in Cincinnati. Math doesn't matter where it is. Both these ballparks obviously extreme hitter friendly ballparks. Peralta eight innings, eleven ks, didn't walk a batter, allowed just two hits. Luis Castile almost just as good walk for guys. It wasn't great, but seven innings, one hit, one run, struck
out nine. The only run scored in the second where many had a single and he used agular scored and that was that's all the offense in this game. Um, what did you think of both pitching performances? See Frank, absolutely masterful pitching performances by both guys. Here. I'll start with Freddy Peralta. He had twenty swinging strikes yesterday on a hundred pitches. That's amazing. Gregg. He threw his fastball, yes he threw a hundred pitches. How many of those
were his fastball? Eighty four work eighty four fastballs, and he throws fourteen curveballs. He's a two pitch pitcher. I think a long term and I saw people talking about this on Twitter last night. He's set up to be a reliever. Maybe he becomes Josh Hayder this year for the Brewers. I think, you know, maybe you want to get Jimmy Nelson back, some of these other guys returned
to the rotation. Someone has to to leave. He hasn't done anything to lose a starting rotation job here with Freddy praultagreg But I just don't know how long he can sustain this with only two pitches. We'll pick him up. I think you should, based on what he did here, more of these two starters and hold out more of them last night and today next
