Heppy Tuesday? We have a fun show plan here already Greg, huh, I got a little trade right before the show was great action another Yankees injury, lots a recap from last night. But before all that, Greg, how did you sleep? Buddy? So? Absolutely great? It's left great after that? Uh Red Kale Red onion shrimp dinner. Hunt. Yeah, man comes in here, starts talking to me about I had a healthy dinner last night. It's probably because he had a very filling
lunch courtesy of my dad made you lunch, Greg. But he tells me about I eat this red kale with red onions and steam shrimp or whatever it was, and I wouldn't eat it, but well, the power to you. Man. I asked to make some sort of pasta and juicually. Listen, it's just so unhealthy. I'm like cars and she's just like, well, I'm trying here. You were here for a good time, not a long time, dude. Yeah, you give it in the wrong person. Man, I'm excited. So she did tell
me that. On Friday night, she's like, I'm really sorry, like and he plans with my friends, like you'll be all right, Like listen for this Friday. This is it's magical. It's okay, don't worry about it. We got an x TV on the iPad, the Yankees on the TV, some beer, some pasta. It's gonna be a great night Friday. It's gonna be a big weekend. I want to go, man, I really want to go, and I was looking again before we went on the air. Hasn't gone down expense.
I checked the day of. You never know, you might get desperate and try and so for for let's be honest with you, posted all Reddit. What's I post on a Reddit asking for tickets? Oh gosh, that's pretty crazy? Is that normal one reddit people did all the time? Do you know there's lots of StubHub. I'm like, yeah, dude, not like I don't want to spend that much money. Here's people and rend it like crazy wrestling fans and they'll just spend like whatever'll spend like, oh whatever to
see it. I'm not gonna I'm like, I'm more of a practical wrestling fan. I think we're like, listen, you can be good seats for hund your box. I'll be in like good seats Roger box, not like like the middle level. Yeah, yeah, you're not gonna get those now, aren't like the nosebleeds a hundreds right now? It's on seeking. Yeah, I'm not doing that though. I don't know. I think like, all days, what are you doing? Friday? You have plans?
Friday did not have any plans, all right, so maybe I find the tickets on Friday, We'll just I will just go. I already boy, I already bought tickets to Saturday's wrestling event, so I don't I don't know if I go to wrestling Friday. If we had good seats on Friday, you and go, We're gonna price on Friday, you and go. Potentially, It's all I needed to hear. You let me know. So it happens Friday. Let's spend all day refreshing. Anyone else want to come to wrestling?
Boys were connections. And then for those who asked about Eric Young, I already asked, tried, We tried. Um okay, I want to start Todays show. We have a lot of pitching stuff to get into from last night. We learned a lot last night, which was cool. Um. Florida was hyped about Drew Palmers, like awesome, man, that's that's that's great. I literally woke at the Florial squads Drew Palmerans, Ryan O'Hearn, Alex Wood Hop, Alex Woods, and I woke
up this morning to text from Floria. Man, I'm so hyped about palm Rans like and Niko Lent's gotta like get you do something else, man, you're sitting there so hyped about Drew Palmers. That was one of my thought process was this morning, I'm so white man. There's one thing that you text me last night, like a kunia, Like cool, get it, Like we have a kunya. He's our he's our first round pick. You probably at home runs first one the year, like all right, Like I was.
I was pumped to see that text message for me last night. I sat watch a whole Yankee game like I get it. But again, so hyped about Drew Palmers, like I understand that Matt Stromp pitched really well last night, Like I get it, Like you didn't get the text message from me, like Brad Peacock having a great game last night, and I love Peacock a lot. I was on him everywhere I do. I have a lot of shares, Brocky Peacock. You didn't get that. Probably should have tweeted
out of victory lab Greg Peacocks, young, let's go. I didn't. I'm not saying Floria did either. I just thought it was funny that that was a tax I woke up to this morning. Look, I guess there's a lot worse you could be excited about. Hungreg you know what we kill like, we kill people, And you said yesterday that like anyone that everyone's hyped about, like you're out on that. Dr Palmerens is not someone everyone hypes about. So it's
actually dropped. It seems it seems kind of unfair to like kill Floria over being like hyped out these ugly players, and then kill Florida to be hyped about the hype players. That doesn't We're just gonna Florio. It doesn't see it doesn't seem fair, to be honest with you, I'm gonna do it anyway. We were all about fairness and justice here, Greg, but when it comes to Florio, we don't have to abide by those standards, you know, we can you kind of flip the script on it totally. So the is
that where you want to start. I don't want to start your pomerance youre aos like. I want to do that a little bit later on, because that game is really a lot to take you out of. So I want to do that in a bit. I want to start with obviously the New York Yankees, and I get it. We did it yesterday with Stanton. I didn't start the show with Stanton and in the middle of the show. You we probably kind of bury the lead here, and
I don't want to do that again. And I think the lead really is there's two injuries, and one is with the Yankees, one with the Rockies. We'll start with Yankees, get the Rockies in a second, Michel, and you Harror has a small tear in his shoulder. Uh, that's bad and could require season ending surgery. The Yankees are going to try to have and you Hard you nothing over the next two weeks, see if it improves a bit, and if not, he'll have to have season ending surgery.
This is a brutal, brutal, brutal injury if you are a Miguel and har fan, if you're a Miguel and Her owner, And makes us feel really good, Frank, if I getting justin Turner rather than endure brutal brutal injury. Yeah, real bad one here. And you know, I was actually talking with a Yankee fan and buddy of mine yesterday and talking about you know, Ando Hard why isn't he in the line up yesterday? Um? And then he told me, you know, he looked a little bit off this weekend.
It wouldn't be surprised if he's hurt. Boom. A couple of hours later, ops with the shoulder injury. Boom. A couple of hours later, comes out that there's a small tear in the shoulder in the labor here. So and I think I told really bad injury as right when you said that techest last night. They're like, oh, here's why dr is not in the lineup. And I looked into it. It's like, oh, he's got a shoulder injury.
Tests are still come like this isn't good because he was like, all right, his shoulders bothering and Bruce shoulder. They would have just lay he's a little bang adult, Okay, him out for the night. Well, we'll see how he feels tomorrow. They didn't do any of that. It was like testlo, this is bad. And he was placed on the I l almost immediately so and it just came
out of nowhere. We get staying earlier in the day and then we get and do harr And you know a lot of people were expecting and hard to hit for a good batting average, obviously based on what he did as a rookie. You don't often Gregg and we spoke about this during draft season. Is that Andrew Harror got better in the second half as a rookie, you know, the second third time around when he's seeing starting pitchers again.
Normally that's when rookies struggled. But he got better, and the power got during the second half, and the launch Anglo got better in the second half. So a lot of people were expecting a good batting average this year, maybe close to three hundred. Those two thirty home runs. Thirty home runs obviously, you know batting fift and Yankees order, no county stats are gonna be there. R b I's runs, there's a lot to like. Even in points leaves, he hits a lot of doubles. So this is, uh, this
is a pretty legitimate void to fill. You know. I saw a few NFBC leagues where he went for over twenty dollars in the in auctions and fifteen team auctions, and he's a in a round player, but a lot of people drafted him as their starting third basement. Now we're we're left to pick up the pieces again, trying to find another third base for replacement. Obviously you can look in house with dzit mayhe Yeah, and that's exactly what it's better to say, I think we talked about
him very briefly yesterday. I think that it deserves it and extended conversation now because I think digital and Mayhew, who's going to start every day at third base for the New York Yankees. Every day will be a lot of every day, I should say, because Tool is going to need days off and h Tyler Way you'll get in there. But digitally, Mayhew playing every day now for the Yankees. This is a guy that is a forward
batting champion. Um, it's a guy that, uh, the Yankees signed with the with the idea that they're gonna play him four out of seven days before the six days whatever you said yesterday and now I was gonna play every day. And this is a guy that all right, power should translate the Yankees stadium a bit nothing, a ton of power. Good average guy, good on base guy. He can help you in fantasy leagues, especially in categories
like average and runs which were always chasing. Yeah, definitely, And he's really good for points leagues because he doesn't strike out, he makes a lot contact. I think he's gonna hit a lot of doubles. Um, you know, a much needed element to the Yankees lineup based on you know, they have a lot of guys who strike out, so he's a great fielder. He makes a lot of contact. I think you hit it on the head, Greg, He'll probably contribute batting average to eight plus. Batting average is
what I would expect. He'll score some runs, maybe get some r B I s if he moves up in the order because everyone's hurt, so everyone's sliding up a little bit in the order right now. And he's gonna play every single day. So if you want some cheap exposure to the Yankees lineup, this is an easy way to do it. You're gonna have second base eligibility and it won't be long before he has third base eligibility. So obviously that helps as well, that that dual position eligibility,
middle infield, corner infield. But let's just temper expectations. I don't think there's a ton of upside with detail Mayhew. Good batting average, maybe decent run scored, but he's not gonna blow you away. Would not the same situation, would you rather own clip Frasier Mayhew? I think it's a roster construction thing. It's what do you want because I think it will make you safer, so much safer when Fraser has a lot of upside, because which is why
I wrote it up. If he if he performs well while he's up right now, I think even once Aaron Hicks, absolutely they make him the starting Outfieler Brett Gardner pushed to the bench. I think, I think an ideal world. I think an ideal world, that's exactly what would happen, that Clint Fraser runs away with this job and he can't leave the story lineup. I think that's exactly what they want to happen. But to me, it's very obviously
dig May huge. I don't want you to forget like he was really good for a long time in Colorado, not like otherworldly. And I don't know that Clint Frasier can be otherworldly, but dig May he's a good player. And I think if you lost d J, if you lost Daniel Murphy will get to you one moment where you lost Michel and Dard who is a very obvious and good replacement in leagues. I truly believe that. Yeah,
throw out Ryan Healey's name once again. You know I mentioned him yesterday as a as a waiver wire pickup. He would over four yesterday, but leading up until that, I mean this Mariner's lineup is red hot. He's gonna play every single day until Kyle Seeger is back. So looking at Ryan Healy, Yandy Diaz and deeper leagues as Drew Cabrera in shallower leagues, Ryan McMann should be owned in all leagues as well. But if you're just looking in house right now, let Mayhew and Clint Fraser make
four decent ads again. Let Mayhew Safer, I think Clint Fraser, if you're looking for the upside. We got some clarity on the Colorado situation as well, with Daniel Murphy going to be out at least a month with his finger injury, and I think we kind of saw that writing on the wall yesterday, Frank, when we talked about this, we mentioned Mark Reynolds is a sneaky ad, Ryan McMahon, Garrett Hampson, all guys that are gonna get extended playing time with
Daniel Murphy on the shelf. Brutal luck for Murphy owners who of course has something to do with his knees a finger. And you could never have predicted that. Um I mentioned may He was a guy at former Rocky that could replace Murphy in your lineup. But the Rockies guys could all replace and do her potentially as well. I believe that Ryan mcmana's third base eligibility as well. No, this is a first and second. He has first, second,
and third, of course, right he does in y'allhoo. So in y'allhoo, Ryan McMann gotta do it all for you, And I think that's certainly intriguing. Uh Hampson in NFBC, he only has first base and hell game, so it's gonna be first and second. Well, second may not come so quickly anymore, now could he plays first base every day? He has three under his belt, right, so he only needs two more five Okay, so maybe it don't come sooner. I just thought that they'll play first base probably almost
every day now, I would think. M I think maybe they'll mix things up. I mean, there's still gonna be days where you know, Mark Reynolds first and Ryan McMahon's at second and and Garret Hampson's not in the lineup. But you were. You hit it on the head yesterday to Greg when you mentioned they have a designated hitter last night, so Garet Hampson better be in the lineup. Indeed he was, he was batting ninth. Mark Reynolds was a designated hitter and it had Ryan Man at first,
so you're right about that. But I think once they get away from the designated hitter, they're still gonna be games where Mark Reynolds plays at first, Ryan Man at second. So it won't be long before he gains that eligibility if you play in NFBC or maybe even CBS. Let me see what Ray McMahon's eligibility is and TPS. I know Yahoo again, as if you ever looked at a base on Yahoo, you have that eligibility. He only has first base eligibility on CBS as well, so the second
basis is coming at some point. Um again, tough to replace, frustrating or replace, but not old woman yesterday. Yes, he's still only on in Yahoo. I think he should be owning all twelve team league. Well, he's hot. He's hot. That's the same question I asked you the end of last week, though, Colton Wong or Tim Beckham who has remained hot as well? It's a good question. I would take Colton Wong because the Cardinals line up is better. He has your upside in terms of power speed combination.
Tim Beckham is not gonna steal any basis, but we already saw a gamer. Colton Wong had two stolen bases. He now has three homers on the year, two stolen bases, and the Cardinals line up is just better. I think it's close, but I'll take okay. I'm okay with that. Both these guys obviously very hot right now and make obvious replacements. You can have to play the hot hand, and when they get cold, don't be afraid to drop him.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that. UM. One more thing I want to note before we move on. We'll hit the break and we'll kind of reset Chris Teller. I guess I should say this for the Dodgers Parker Chris Taylor playing another against another lefty. UM. We talked about the Dodgers are facing all these lefties. Jock Peters gonna be on the bench. Chris Tayler got in there,
hit a home run yesterday, and he mashes lefties. And if you're in a daily line up league, Chris Tayler is a guy that against lefties, you may want to you know, throw in there potentially. Yeah, he was betting seventh last night. In the past three games that he's uh that he's appeared in or started, he has betted seventh and all those So yeah, lefties for sure transactions leagues. Um, the Dodgers lineup is red hot to start the year, and not so much last night. They only scored two runs,
but over the weekend they were awesome. So if you want some cheap exposure to the Dodgers line up, I know if you drafted a little bit earlier on, you might have expected Chris Taylor to be your starting shortstop or maybe your fifth outfielder. But it doesn't look like he's gonna play every day. But against left handed pitching, he should be in their absolutely. Okay, So we'll take
a break here. When we come back, we were gonna I want to, I guess hit on this Blue Jay's trade, see if there's anything there for any fantasy perspective, and they get into what we learned last night. We'll start with you Palmerans and San Francisco against the against the Dodgers and Julia Rayas, who was just unbelievable last night. So we'll get to both of those starting pitchers and will work away around the majors and what we learned and what's real and what's fake and who you need
to run in the way wire to picked up. And at least for me Frank who plays in the Daily Transaction League, we doesn't have to wait for waivers to run that has first come, first served like a lot of public leagues. I think we should kind of do something every day. We're like, all right, you gotta pick on this guy right now, like this is they must add. And I think that would be cool to institute today,
if that's all right with you. All right, when we come back, we'll get into everything you missed from last night's the ground Fantasy best Friends Forever Fantasy Sports. That's Frank Stanfell. I am Greg Sussman and Frank. Right before we went on the air, we saw my interesting shade between the Toronto Blue Jays and the San Francisco Giants, who are Remember we're starting two outfielders that on opening day we had never heard
of them. And you know, you have dived into this as much as humanly possible over the basketball months, and you didn't know who to the starting outfielders on the San Francisco Giants were opening day in Connor Joe and
Michael reid Well. One of those starting outfielders is no longer a starting outfield in the San Francisco Giants because they've acquired Kevin Polar from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Alan Hanson who was daide, Derek Law who's df aide, and Wanda Paula who came over from the Yankees in the Andrew McCutcheon deal. They will open up playing time for Anthony Alfred. Uh for Toronto will also see obviously more of Billy McKinney, Tiasta Hernandez as well.
So the Blue Jays opening up playing time for their young outfielders while the Giants get major league quality talent in their lineup. What do you think this trade? Is there any fantasy implications? I think the Blue Jays are going through a little bit of a youth movement here, doing the trades with Kendrick's Morales right before the season started and then trading away Kevin Polar as well. They want to give some opportunities to rowdy t Lez only
twenty four years old. You mentioned Tiascar Nanda's gonna get more playing time. Billy McKinney, former Yankee prospect as well, He's not even twenty five years old. They have him as a platoon bat rosster resource. I don't think he's gonna bat against lefties. He has a little bit of pop, He's got some full BP skills. But you mentioned Anthony Alfred, I think it's worth mentioning. You know, former top ish prospect for the Toronto Blue Jays in the outfield there.
Last year's struggle to thirty eight in the miners and twenty strikeouts, only five homers seventeen steals, but the year before that with the three nine O b P, five homers, nineteen steels, So doesn't really have a lot of pop, but has some speed. He performed well in spring training in thirty three at bats. He had four homers, seven RBIs, two stolen bases, but eleven strikeouts to forty two. So it seems like he has some power speed potential, but
strikes out a lot. Um. You know, if I'm looking at anyone here, I think he might have the most upside of all of them, Anthony Alfred. But it's gonna be a jumbled up group. It's gonna be Tiascar, Hernandez h Alfred, Um, William McKinney is. And that makes as well. They're gonna have roddy, rowdy t lez A d H. You gonna have Randall Green play center field now as well? Yeah, Well, I wonder is he is he a center fielder though?
I think they're going to use him at center field might be their best actual center field essentually, so I think you'll see Green out in center field though, speaking of outfielders before we get to the the others out of the trade, and you've got asked for another question after the Ronald Lacuna a rich man. He has signed an eight year, one hundred million dollar contract extension with the Atlanta Braves. He'll be in Atlanta for a long time.
The deal includes two club options, according in Jeff Passon of ESPN, good for Ronald lacunas you mentioned, eight for one hundred that's interesting. Yeah, a lot of these teams opting to UH to sign these younger players were seeing a lot of these deals. Now, obviously what Himan is before even you know, takes a plate, appearances and the majors. He signed an extension and then the same thing with
Ronald Lacuna. This could turn out to be a huge, huge bargain for the Atlanta Braves based on what he did last year obviously was awesome in the second half and being drafted in the first round of Fantasy drafts, a lot of high expectations. So atcome up for the next eight years at a hundred million, It's a risk reward but could pay off huge for the Atlanta Braves. Absolutely, absolutely could be a corner stone piece for the Atlanta Braves.
I'm sure they hope he is, along with Assie Albis, Dansay Swanson, and the rest of the young players in Atlanta. Back to the trade, now, would you rather pick up Anthony Alfred to Clint Fraser if you read out what all for did in the springs? Actually better what for
what Fraser did in the spring. Yeah, I'd still take a shot on Clint Fraser just because I think he is actually gonna see more regular playing time now with the Yankees with the injuries to stay in obviously they need outfielders, so I think he's going to see more regular playing time. Still kind of jumbled up the Blue Jays,
but I think it's close. In fifteen team leagues, I think, you know, if I have players to drop, I would take upside shots on on both of these fair enough if you have if you have the rosters roster, which is probably in the fifteen teamers, I'm probably not adding these guys. Maybe in a twelve team or with deeper bench spots, like I'll take a shot on Clint Fraser for the upside, but twelve teamers I'm probably just watching
right now. Outlist kind of thing. But fifteen teamers, I would take a shot on on either one of these guys. I like Clint Fraser a little bit more. With Alan Hansen Um and Derek Law, they just basically get some death obviously the infield position and in relief with Derek Law, who does have some closing experience. So anything ever happens to Ken Gile, is Derek Law a name to watch only then Um with Toronto. On the other side, Kevin Pollard goes over to San Francisco, He'll be there in
your starting center fielder on a daily basis. But Lar seems to have fantasy value at points each and every season. Uh is that season? Now? Is that time of the season now I should say, Uh, Well, it's hard to tell because he's always streaky. You mentioned it, Greg. It seems like we do this thing at the end of
April every year. Is just the real Kevin Poar where he's going off and he has like five homers and five stolen bases and then he slows down any tricks everyone but you know who he is at this point. Look the past two seasons between two fifty and two fifties six batting average. So that's what you're gonna get fifteen sixteen homers. That that number actually probably goes down this year with San Francisco, he was hitting in Toronto in the American League. Geese was obviously much better for
his fantasy value. So maybe he's like ten to twelve homers. You can still count on him for fifteen stolen bases. This is a classic fifth outfielder in a fifteen team league. Greg, anything shallower than that. I don't really want anything to do with him, but it is worth noting that. And only he's gonna be added to the player pool because he was traded from Ale only only so you're playing and only this is the way for you to get uh, you know, maybe ten twelve homers and twelve stone basis. Yeah,
I think that's it's a great point. And now only is where you're going to want to um where you're gonna want to invest in a guy like Kevin Pollar. Tonight, By the way, you get Bryce Harper's return to Washington. I'm sure you're as we glued to that, he posted on Instagram earlier this morning. A nice heartfelt message will stop him getting booed? Probably not, but nice heartfelt message there from Bryce Harper earlier today. Now let's move on to what we missed last night. I want us we
were talking about the Giants. Let's start with the Giants, who we kind of kept beating around this a little bit. So I want to start with the Dodgers and the Giants, and that's a place in Los Angeles. As Drew palmerans pitch very very well for San Francisco, going five innings, six hits, two runs, six strikeouts through ninety pitches. Look pretty good. The most important thing is Floyda Kemp reminding me was the velocity is back, and he's hype baby.
He's hype baby, Drew Palm rans of all players, Uh, I think in deeper leagues we were taking a few shots here. Just because it plays in San Francisco, we're doing.
It's a good it's a good place to pitch. Obviously, he's shown in the past that he could pitch in in Boston, so if you could do that, then you know, obviously moving over to San Francisco, he's dealt with a ton of injuries and you know, we'll take it a start by start basis, like we don't know how many anyings we're gonna get from a guy like Drew palm Rans. He could get hurt at any point. But Greig, last year his fastball velocity was eighty nine point three miles
per hour on average. I know it's only one start, but yesterday it was ninety two point one mile per hour, which if the season ended today, would be the highest of his career. So, you know, it's good to see the fastball velocity back. He's basically just a fastball curveball guy. I don't really love pictures that only throw two pitches, but Drew palm Rans has been able to get away with it in his career. Um And you know, he
had seven swinging strikes last night on ninety pitches. Not a ton of swinging strikes, but it was good to see the fastball velocity up. So I'm with Florio in deeper leagues, you know, fourteen teams are deeper. Fifteen teams like I want, I want chairs of Drew Palmerans. He was dropped in my main event. I might, I might take a stab at it, but you know, twelve teen leagues, he's below all the guys we mentioned yesterday, the Marlins guy Smith, but he's something. He's a name that I
would pay attention to that. I totally agree. He's the guy that I don't know. I'm not in my twelveteen leagues. Even really adding to the watch list like it's like the Marlins guys really intrigued me a lot more. I think you should be on the watch list. I think, I guess you watch This could be anybody, so sure, why not. I do want to note that the thing
didn't do with the watchless. I do want to know things went really according to plan here for San Francisco with milansin, Tony Watson and then will Smith going seven eight nine, one inning a piece. They all pitch beautifully, no one let up a run. It's Will Smith very consistently in the closer role, followed by Watson before and I don't know if there's a lefty right anything, and
then Milansen in the seventh. So I just want to note that as we kind of take a look at closers in the future if it ever comes to that. So Melansen, okay, because they'll trade away will Smith and okay, that's what they should do, at least in my opinion, because they don't have a good farm system, and I think the strength of that team is in their bullpen right now. I think they get rid of a lot of those relievers. Maybe they trade away Madison bump Garner.
They're gonna trade await anyone that has value because they need to rebuild that farm system. As you find it funny that the text was being publish about Drew Palmer Ran rather than the man that was on the other side that pitched better than him, and that was Julio your Eyes. Five intes pitch, three hits, no walks, no runs, seven strikeouts through seventy seven pitches. Dodgers are going to be very very careful with their prize young arm. But
last night he was spectacular. Again, everyone looks spectacular against the Giants, So I don't want to take this with a grain of salt because of how good he is. There's a great first step for Julio your Eyes, just like it was for Paddock uh and for the other San Diego guys in the weekend. We really rise. Is actually someone that I trust a little bit more. Though it's not just the magic pig San Francisco Giants. It's the pedigree. It's if you watch the start, it's just
how he looked. I mean the fastball velocity was average per hour. He topped out at ninety point eight miles per hour at times. Last night. He had five swinging strikes on the festival, he had fourteen swinging strikes overall. Greg he threw four different pitches at least eleven times yesterday, so he's got a diverse arsenal. He's got the four steamer. He threw a slider, he threw a changeup, and he had a cutter. And there was a few gifts last
night floating around above the slider that he threw. It might have been to Brandon Belt or Joe Panic. It was a left handed bat. Just made him look absolutely foolish. So lots of upside for Julio your eas but again it's you know how deep is he gonna go into games? If you're play in points leagues or quality start leagues, I don't think your ryce is gonna help you out
much there. But if you play in rhodo, just what can you do for me on a per ending basis, If you're gonna go five maybe sometimes you go six endings pitched with a good ear ay, a good whip and a strike up per ending, maybe even over a Strikeoup per ending. I mean he could be money, Greg. This is a prime example of Florio's quality greater sign quantity clias And really all the Dodgers are are child but you Rice is upside is absolutely his upside is
massive at the moment. Really, your Ryes um to me if he's out there and I don't know that he has been twelve least, he certainly could be your Ryes above a lot of the nail almost all the dames I mentioned you want to do this guy should be owned, should be I think to like if he's out there, I think so too. I think from yesterday owned in Yahoo.
So it so mostly is if your Ryes out there and again owned in Yahoo leagues probably isn't He's the guy that I dropped someone right now to go pick up who Lily your eyes is today's pick up of the day. And I'll come up with the catch. And now we might come across a few more of them as the show goes on. Almost what happens. I gotta go about some catch here and then think up with the day. Don't like that, I mean, this is your baby,
So I'll work on it. I'll work on them and make a graphic, I got a lot lot to do it all right. Uh, the Dodgers defeated the Dodgers. I'm sorry felt the Giants for to two in this one. Uh the scoring team I mentioned Chris Taylor, Alex Ford got to pick a home run as well, and Brandon Bell Pablo Sandoval alright cool noting the Verdugo home run was against palm Ran so lefty on lefty, which maybe
in the long run helps him. Maybe, but there's no probably, there's no path to playing times like Dodgers are the Dodgers, but he's been a long time prospect for them for a while, mainly a platoon bat like maybe sometimes he'll play against right handed pitching, but I think the fact that he hit a home run against the lefty holds well for his long term out. There's no paths to playing time, which is what bothers me for Alex Virdugo.
I think the talent is there and that Modica has been extremely eye in Verdugo for years now, and I wish, you know we could be as well. We haven't. Do you think Mordka is a closet Dodgers fan. He loves all the loves the Dodgers. I think he's a closet money fan and he likes to make money and the Dodges. He's not really a closet fan about that. He's just a fan of money. I think most people are. Yes, that makes sense, So there you go. Dodgers fell forward to two to the Giants. I wanted to move on
to Texas because, imagined Brad Peacock before. Actually, I'll do that. I'll do that, then I'll get to Toronto after this, after the break probably, um, but Here'ston defeated Texas two to one. As a man, Brad Peacock go six and two. There's only last two hits, one of which is the Ronald Guzman solo shot. Five strike hats, didn't walk anybody through eight six pitches. You're Brad Peacock owner, this is the best you absolutely could have hoped for. It was
a great start for him. Obviously a week Rangers lineup, but definitely a good start by Brad Peacock. Yeah. We we said yesterday is good pictures are supposed to dominate bad lineups, and that's exactly what Brad Peacock did yesterday. I really like the length Greggy that he goes here at six point two and pitched so very efficient yesterday only two hits, zero walks. That's a huge key to I love seeing that five strikeouts, zero walks for Brad Peacock.
He had nine swinging strikes. Would I like to see that number a little bit higher, especially against the Texas Rangers because miss a lot, so I want to see those swinging strikes come up a little bit. But all in all, very good outing for Brad Peacock. I love the strikeout to walk rasing for the Rangers. And no guy you were looking at was Drew Smiley, who made his return to starting rotation through seventy three pitches through three innings, only a lot of run um. Not exactly
a great start though. It was not great, but I don't think it was terrible either, based on the fact that he was going up against Houston. Look, this is first start in a few years, so let's see what happens again. This is deeper a know, only fifteen team makes maybe even deeper than that, you know, twelve team leagues.
I'm not really paying attention to Drew Miley, but he was a guy who did have upside in years past and now he's getting an opportunity to pitch in the Rangers rotations, so it could have been a lot worse. Let's see what happened Rucken and odor I got thrown out for the first time this year. It was good to see that he was running, but he does get thrown out on the base path, which is a little bit frustrating. George Springer hits his second whole run of the season of his only hit of the day, um
most Korea. Three for four and since he's been back over the last two days, very good. Yeah, it's it's good for Corea owners, obviously, it's what you want to see. Hey, don't get hurt across your fingers. Hope he stays healthy. Hopefully we see some of that power come to He has not hit a home run yet, but it's only been two games. That's what I want to see is last year you could tell he was hurt because it affected his eggit velocity and ability to drive the ball.
I know some of those things came back during the spring. He saw the exit velo up. He was hitting a lot of balls hard. So that's what I'll be paying attended to. How are his bats coming along, How hard is how hard of contact is he making? Is he driving the ball? Does he look healthy so far? Through two games he does look pretty good. Before we had the break, will hit one more game? I guess I'm gonna say it's for Rono and so after the break.
But the Yankees defeated the Tigers three to one yesterday. Domingo Harman the story of the game for me. Five innings, one run, he walked five and struck out seven. And this is basically the story of Domingo Harman. Much like Jimmy Yako, bothnus for the Baltimore Orioles great stuff. He just has no idea where the ball is going at all, and that's why you get two seven strike outs, five walks.
But was very interesting, that is, despite the five walks, only seven of the the nine pages thrown by Domingo Harman. And if he could figure out a way to harness that fastball, he's talented. And I was impressed by Domingo Harman, who goes round on the watch list. Yeah, no surprise here, Greg that you were impressed by a Yankees starting pitch. He's supressed that. Jimmyako bonus as well. So I think it was I think it's worth noting that. Yeah, you're right,
he has some nasty stuff. He doesn't know where it's going half the time. But I think it also doesn't help that Gary Sanchez is it probably not, so you know, that probably doesn't help. But yesterday sixteen swinging strikes. I know it's against the Tigers. They just made Matt Shoemaker look like a cy Young Award winner over the weekend. I think it with a grain of salt. But sixteen
swinging strikes. Had seven swinging strikes on his fastball, which average ninety four point three Miles Prower, and they also had seven swinging strikes on his curveball. Also had a nasty curveball where he just basically froze Miguel Cabrera um and struck about looking. So I think that's worth noting. The strikeouts were really good for Domingo Harman. He's got to cut down the walks, obviously, definitely twelve team leagues. Yeah, watchless guy. I might try and stash him on the
end of my bench. But I think I like the Marlins guys and Colvin Burns more than Domingo Harmon right now, which is just like the order of picking up players and whoio, you're riots, right like Marlin's guys for beIN Burns, Whoio you're riots. They're like kind the cream of the crop. And then I think Domingo is like one step al. I like her mom more than I like Drew Palmer Ns. They're kind of in the same boat. No, I think
that her model is better. Step into game like this is gonna be standard for Domingo absolutely because they're not gonna let him go deep. They obviously have the bullpen like there you know they have players also, Thinko. But annoyingly, I also think you'll see games where her mom is a start. He's the opener, which or the there's the opener used for which Yankees wanted to do yesterday, but I had to go through their bullpen on Sunday, so get a chance to dude, that will be very frustrating
as well. So I think that's a good point. Um other side, Tyson rosscos five innings less three runs to earn four walks, he was kind of mediocre. I thought, Tyson Ross, your boy. You love Tyson Ross. Every year I do Ross Ross. Sorry, it only took a few years. Garry Sanchez hit his second home run of the season yesterday. Uh and Aaron Judge almost hit a home run. Gardner off. Finally, all right, I'll take a break here we come back. What do we think of new manager Brandon High decision

That's Frank Standfelle. I'm Greg Susman hoppy to be here with you on a Tuesday breaking down everything that happened. And one of the bigger stories from last night is
what happened in Toronto with the Baltimore Orioles. Not much is expected from the Orioles. We're in our three and one by the one and David Hess was one of the starting pitchers. I was like this close to Namon and last night he almost made everyone know his name for the rest of his career. He went six and a third aloud, one walk, shrug out, eight, did not strike. You're not allow a hit through two pitches and Brandon High came out there and looked him in the eyes.
Did your out, bro, And he went to the betch. You tried to talk in his way. Stay in the game. Was not allowed to now Before you go further, Frank, what did you think of the decision by Brandon Hide. It doesn't surprise me one bit the way that baseball has been trending, And to be honest, I don't know why everyone's freaking out about it. This isn't the first time we've seen a picture leave a game with a no hitter. Intact, it won't be the last time we've
seen it. It was David has his first start of the season, and even if he gets through that ending with let's say ninety pitches, right, they're probably taking him out after the seventh anyway, Yeah, I mean, you're gonna let your starting pitcher and twenty pitches his first start of the season to try and get a no hitter.
I mean, look, the Rios from our eyes, aren't playing for anything but no from their perspective, from their organization perspective, they want to save these guys for the long haul. They actually want to try and play later on in the season, right, So I understand a lot of people are up in arms about taking him out of the game. Didn't surprise me, And to be honest, Greig, I don't have a big problem with it, So I don't know a problem with it either, and I agree, what is
the most that will happen? You're leaving him out there to finish the seventh and people forget that this guy, it's just two days ago. In relief, they're like fourty two pitches like on Saturday. So I have a feeling they didn't even want him to get to the eight two number that he was at. I think he probably wanted to throw like seventy maybe, and they kept him going because he had a no hitter. You gotta protect the guy, um, And I know that David has probably
never have an opportunity like this in his life. And it's very sad to say dramatic for sure, but you gotta protect him. It might be the next time that he faces the Blue Jays. Greg, This blue Jay's lineup is god awful for now. I mean they have a collective team one eight batting average and p s. It's only five games, but and it just traded away a professional hitter and Kevin bar They're gonna call up Anthony Alford and you know they're gonna play a lot of
their young kids. Vladim mcgarrero Jr. Is coming, But outside of that, he's still have a lot of young guys in the lineup, were gonna strike out a ton. Not a great line up by any means. The Blue Jays started Seawan Reid Foley last night, and you obviously don't know this, Frank, because because you didn't do the vand videos yesterday with me. But one guy who was tweeting any incessantly how horrible FanDuel is because they forgot to include a Shawn Reid Foley for whatever reason on Vanduel
last night. For whatever reason, maybe because the game started early at six thirty. Maybe that was it and I didn't realize it. Yeah, if the game started at six, it wasn't including the main state. I don't and I don't know this for sure, but read fold who was not available to be chosen last night, and this guy just kept blasting us about how terrible fandal is because it didn't include Sean Reid Foley. You have your welcome, dude. Do you think that person was related to Shawn Folly.
I don't. Maybe it was Sean Reid Folly himself. I think it was a guy that just wanted to play against the Orioles. Well, you're welcome, because Sean Reid Foley with two innings allowed, three or run, five total runs, four hits, two walks three case he sucked, So you're welcome, Sean Reid Foley fan. He was one of their top pitching prospects and they've been kind of hyping him up
for a for a while now. And the last year at triple at three point nine zero e r a strikeouts and eight five and a third innings pitched, like, Okay, maybe Shaun re Folly has some upside at some point. But you're right, I mean, not look good against the Orioles, and you can't really do it against the Baltimorials. And you know, if you need to, uh take yourself home with yourself in the mirror and figure out what you need to work on, because the Baltorial he just not
one of the last names. It was. It was Jonathan Yan who was betting third once again, who hit a two run homer off of you, Shawn Red fully sorry about that. Should we should we picking up boom Bo Mancini? Yes, I actually uh, I can't reveal it him. I'll how you during the break, But I like him. I do like him. I do like Trey Mancini. For people who might have lost Giancarlo Stanton obviously not gonna give you the same level of production. He's Matty clean Up. He's
off to a hot start um. And you know what I've noticed from his swings so far this year, and it's just limited sample what he's played against home run that he yesterday, it looks like he's making a conscious effort to try and lift the ball a little bit more. And he's always been a guy who hits the ball on the ground too much. So if he's trying to lift the ball more and playing in Camden in the A L East, and maybe it leads to a little
bit more homers this year. You know, thirty rather than the twenty four were used to getting from Trey Mancini. But I'd expect the batting average to bounce back from last year. He's hitting in the middle of this lineup. He's just unknowned in a lot of places because he plays for the Baltimorials. But I think it's fabulous bringing him up because to me, he's a replacement if you lost a guy like John Carliston. He's out there in a lot of twelve team league, So there you go.
If Trey Mancini is out there, someone that especially if you lost some power with Daniel Murphy with gian Carlos Standard obviously doesn't play the same position as Big Murth. But Trey Mancini a guy that has some talent. But we liked me two years ago or a year ago. Did you have a great year last year bouncing back in the middle of of the Orioles lineup? Who again? I know you want to avoid the Orioles because they suck, and that's fair. The tre Man City doesn't suck, and
I think that's a point that we gotta remember. I want to go back to David Hess real quick, though, because I'm not saying just keep him on your radar. I'm not adding him anywhere, and I'm not even adding him in fifteen team leagues. But I will say he had a velo jump in his first start of the season. Here based on where his fastball was at last year. His fastball last night through forty eight times average ninety three point eight miles per hour, maxed out at nineties
six miles per hour. Last year, his average fastball velocity was nine one nine greg so fastball velocity up two miles per hour so far this season, he's been maxing out around ninety six miles per hour. So you only had nine swinging strikes on eight pitches. I'm not saying go out and grab David Hess, but let's pay attention to his velocity. Maybe there's something here. And do you
want to note? Uh? And this is in baseball related, but he's breaking new so I want to bring it up, um core A Pro Football Talk, the a A S the Alliance of American Football Operations. Will we suspended in the next few hours. League isn't folding yet, but it basically is folding. And that's the end of the a F What happened? What happens to my fantasy team? Sorry, the our fantasy team, Gregg, you have an a F fantasy team as well. You have Turn Richardson. Did you
get still? I don't know? So what is this folding? Why is that the owner who is a new guy bought in his name Tom Dundon. Uh. He invested seventy million dollars and he's losing that much money. So he said, I don't want to lose any more money. Officers, all right, Well, uh, Vince McMahon, your next I hope you learned from the A A S mistakes, which, to be honest, I couldn't even tell you what they are. But they're trying to
start up the XFL again next year. Um, these are some of the challenges that you face, right, I mean, Vince, do you engage in audience? Yeah, Vinity man still got a lot of money of w E stock, like fifty million dollars of the stock to kind of invest into the XFL. We'll see, Uh, well we'll see here the a F which is on the NFL network on TVs entrepreneur like they were doing all the right things. What more can you do? And the problem from a from a football league outside of the NFL, what more can
you do? In terms of getting the exposure of the NFL network, getting the exposure, gonna about T n T, the CBS Sports Network at times, whatever it might be, it seemed like they were doing everything right in the first you know, the first few weeks that I actually watched the product didn't seem that bad. I mean, they had a lot of former NFL players Arnolds Johnson wide receiver,
Trent Richardson running back. These guys aren't in the NFL for a reason, but for true football fans who wants me to watch after the NFL season ends and after college football season ends, and it just gives you something else to watch, right, it gives you another option. But I mean, there has to be a reason why it's losing as much money as it is. Yeah, I'll say this, Like the first week in the a F, Twitter was
a buzz by it. I was into it, and since then I've had no interest in watching it at all. I don't know that. I don't know if you had or not. I watched like the first two weekends and then it just kind of fell off for me. A lot of spring training, baseball, getting prepared, I mean watching basketball too. On Sunday on Sunday after after the Final Four, right after the Elite Eight and after the Yankees were over. On Sunday, we Judie and I were having dinner and I think I actually put the a F on in
the background. It was all like NFL Network, so I put it on. The qualities really seemed very good obviously or where we're Jets draft pick in Maryland, Terraf and Dexter McDougal had an interception that I saw. Um. Other than that, it was just like why am I watching this? That's kind of how I felt. What were just other priorities in terms of professional sports obviously, like I want to watch the NBA, I want to watch I'd rather watch spring training BAB so I can pick up off that.
Judy actually asked a really really good question about this. She was like, what is this? Tell me about this? I explained it to her. She goes, well, do you watch like the NBA G League? No? She do you watch minor league baseball? I go, no, why would you watch minor league football? They go, right, she goes, when we went to it's a really nice, family friendly atmosphere. When you go to a minor league baseball game, it doesn't cost much money, the food is free. It's a
nice family thing. Or you go go with your friends or your girlfriend or whatnot. It's nice. It's like a nice night to do. Right. That's all the a F could probably the XFL could be. It's a nice night. It's not something that will generate millions and millions and millions of dollars off of the NFL's back. Just like the Lee High Valley. He's not going to generate millions and millions of dollars off of lv's back. Like, at least with the minor league baseball, you're seeing the stars
of tomorrow. You'll go try to see a minor league and maybe see Vladimir Guerrera, Like that's cool. The A a F and the XFL are not going to be able to generate that. Like Johnny Manzel, he's only playing the a F because he couldn't play anywhere else. He's a has been and there's only one of him in minor league baseball. There's a lot of future stars in the G League. There's a lot of young players that
are that maybe will become something. I don't think that it exists in the a F or in any other football. Leaves will pop up, and I think that's the issue. I don't know if that's fair to say, though, because if there were players that were dominating the a F, maybe they would have gotten a shot in the NFL. Again, well maybe, but maybe Garret Gilbert will there's I mean, yeah, there's no way to know. You go into a have to go see Garrett Gilbert. No, And I think that's
why they did it right. They tried to regionalize players like Gilbert. It was it I think it was like a smart system, like a cool idea what they were trying to do, like really owning on you know, geographics, and Okay, the Alabama team can only can only get players from from that area. So I think that was actually a cool concept. I think, you know, they're obviously trying to appeal to people who have a pure love for the game of football. It's just there wasn't I
guess there wasn't enough. You know, what did you say? Because football is the most popular sport in America, But I guess you know, when it's the professional game, when it's the college game, you're right, like seeing the stars of today and potentially the stars of tomorrow. Right, you don't know that anyone on the a F is gonna be either one of those things. And it's more than
likely not people care about football until they don't. If I even you that really only watches sports, right, like I'll watch other TV you for the most part of the Game of Thrones and and like Punishers some other things that you really just watch sports at night, especially King goes to bed, Like you're gonna sit there study baseball and watch sports. You're not interested in this The first two weeks you're out, and as someone like you is out, I don't know that their market is going
to be there. I don't mean that in a negative way towards you. You love you love just watching sports. You love football, and you won't watch it. And but the thing is, I have other priorities too, though, because everybody's gonna have other priorities. It's exactly right. Because you know, we're competing for a fantasy basketball championship. I want to
see how my players are doing. So I'm gonna watch those games in February and March, and now I want to scout some starting pitchers in spring training in March, and I want to you know, get ready for the fantasy baseball season. So it's, you know, it's what's next. Everyone's looking for what's next. So once fantasy football ends to me, it's okay, I gotta pay attention to my fantasy basketball team, and then I gotta get ready for
fantasy baseball. So it's like, what's next. And I don't think a f necessarily it was, you know, I on that priority list for me in terms of what was next. And the thing is, the idea was you're going to get casual football fans to just kind of check it out, like I think a lot of people did, and then stopped. Basically the same exact thing to happen in the XFL the first time, a bunch of casual fans checked it out and then stopped. Well, how do you keep them? Though?
That's the question, that's the question that no one's had been able to find the answer for ever. You got you have to market more. And we'll see if if Vince is going to be about this, because in promo packages for the XFL they have talked about this. Greg is they're gonna be big about gambling and fantasy and I think that's how you gotta do it. I think that's how you gotta market it. Greg. You gotta say, um, you know, maybe even making a part of the broadcast,
which isn't necessarily regular, something that that regularly. I think fantasy football, I think gambling. Yeah, you gotta talk about it like when you're previewing a game. The quarterback for this team a first round pick, and fantasy football, let's see what he does today. Here are projections, this team is favored by this much like you have to. I think that's how you appeal to it right. Even even still, I don't know that that's enough to get the market.
I think the only people that were still watching the a F were fantasy football players, were gamblers. That's it. Nobody else is watching, and that's not going to sustain the amount of money it's going to take the key. But there's so many people that play fantasy football and bet on the NFL that weren't doing that for the a F. I mean it was really like hardcore gamblers and maybe hardcore fantasy players, Like we made teams, we
didn't really pay attention. I think that's I think that's probably the route that they have to go, Like how do you get more of those people who play fantasy football in the NFL and bet on the NFL to to come over to you. I mean, that's what he has to figure out over the next year. I think it just shows you that the NFL is the most
powerful sports entity that we have. They have created a day for themselves where everything and every everything stops, never trying to make the NFL week long process now Thursday and Saturday and Sunday and Monday, and that's not always successful. Sunday successful for them. I think one problems with the a F. And I was explaining this the dudio over the weekend, and I never knew in the games wrong. They didn't have Sunday right, and it was always the
same channels like NFL. You knows on CDs and Fox every Sunday. That's it every Sunday. The a didn't have that. Can the SFL create that? I don't know if on the XFL from Vince McMann right now, are you rethinking this and being like, what, he's not gonna fold now? I feel like he's in right probably, I just don't know, Vince. He's not going to bounce back from this. He's gonna he's gonna look at this as an opportunity. Greg, he was probably looking at a F like, oh, they're gonna
be my competition next year. That was no competition. You have a chance to once again once the NFL season and college football season ends, trying to mono put the question will be what will be the difference between the XFL and the a Yeah, and that's what I was just asking that. I think it's making more of a conscious effort to appeal to gamblers and antesty. However, they're going to do that. I don't know, And it's not that the a F didn't try that, because I think
they really did. What it's like, they didn't have an official fantasy game on you know, their website. You had to go through third party websites and it was terrible. So if you have an official site dedicated to fantasy for this and and you make you offer it gambling on the FanDuel of sports book, and you know it's really a mainstream thing, then yeah, that's probably how you generate more interest. But I just don't think the a
F didn't enough of that. I don't. I listened to a few podcasts right as the a F was coming out Greg where like people didn't even know what the lines were for games and he couldn't even find what
the odds were at like major sports. I also don't think that job by the a F. I also didn't think they did enough of a job marketing their players, like outside the region, Like I had no idea who was on what team and why, like we looked it up that first day, We had no idea, and the accidentities doing without their job of explaining that in the long run. Way earlier in the a f it's so we kind of understand a sports fans take a break here. Eventual will join us for our two, which I live
back into baseball and everything he needs to know. Last night, I remember two with fantasy best friends forever. That was your way next
