Episode description

Gregg Sussman and Frank Stampfl are joined by former BFF partner, Mike Florio, as they recap all of the Thursday night action from MLB. Gregg explains to Frank how the film, The Greatest Showman, is one of those movies that always puts a smile on his face. Mike argues that Walker Buehler, off to a slow start, is showing signs of good things to come, and Frank wants to be cautiously optimistic with the Dodgers pitcher.

You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Fantasy best Friends Forever. Do To to Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do do don too. Yeah. Oh, this is the Fantasy best Friends Forever here on the Fantasy Sports for Your Network, alongside Frankie Standford. I am Greg Susan Bragg Greggae. Happy Friday, t G I f

thank god it is Friday. Greg, We've made it. Tell him me man through the week tired, A lot going on here, a lot to talk about from last night, we starting baseball, we got some waiver, tired to talk about for over the weekend, maybe getting some two start pitchers as well. For all that, Greg, I just sleep last night, Buddy, I slept well, but oh but very tired. Today. I slept well. I came in an hour late. As we kind of kicking you in Caboose. I guess, I

guess that's what it is. I guess I just feel like I've been kicked. That's what it is. I'm going on that I don't know about. No, I'm just I'm just tired, tired, and sleep very well last night, a couple of beers before the before bed, but it didn't help. So you know what I did last night? Oh so Judy was not home again? Oh week, where's Judy party?

Animal duties? She was working late last night. So I I watched um some TV and I had to catch up on I was watching a little baseball and I got kind of boring until I watched like the second half. I wound up doing some watching something, then watching the second half of the Giants Rockies game to completion Jeff So, Marja and Johnny Gray. Oh again, and how about in my home be shark dude, dude do dodd? In my home league, I was facing Jeff So, Marja and john Gray.

So that was like demoralizing, that's disastrous. That was me last week I was going up against I think it was Brad Keller, and he had three starts and he outscored Max Scherzer. And I'm just like, what the hell is going on? I'm just saying that. It was like I cannot believe this is real. So that was incredibly frustrating. Um anyway, So before that, I watched the last week's episode of Barry on on HBO. Go and watch Barry now.

I know sometimes I think you just make up these shows stars Bill Hater, he's an actor, he's a star. Barry anyway, So I watched, Um, oh, I've seen ads for this show. It's good. It's he'd like it. That's fine. Eight point one out of ten according to i MD. Brock Myer is much better. Brock Meyer's hysterical. I watched second episode. I watched second episode of that yesterday as well. Watched that. I watched um, a couple episodes of Modern Family.

It is very quick to watch, you know, you fly through, and then the Cubs Pirates game. It just wasn't interested in at all. Oh, come on, Greg, it's a pictures duel. It's great. It was a great Pictures dual. Right. So I was just like a cat against Joe Musgrove, right, so that's how I felt, and we have shares of both of those guys. Come on. I was listening to it on the radio. I couldn't believe that what is

happening expected you. They played semi charmed Life coming back from I was like, you know those games on TV. They must know that I'm listening. They played semi charms coming back from a break. I was driving around so I needed something to keep me occupied. So anyway, they I had HBO go on for Barry, and I just like, wait a minute, and then I put on I just fast forwarded through. It's the parts that I like, the Greatest Showman. Oh, it's awesome. You know the greatest Showman. Bavona,

This is a joke. This guy's a joke, absolute joke. Bavona. This is the perfect opportunity of you to chime in, Bona. But I was saying how I was, um Christ to stop talking when we're on the air. So I was saying when we were I was just flipping through and I was on HBO Goal last night and I had watched an episode of Barry and then I just saw looking into Showman and I just I just played fast forwarded to all the great parts of the movie, and

I thought you'd appreciate it. I really do love Yeah. Say, I knew it. I knew it. It's amazing. Yeah, is the greatest. It's so good. This is a musicale and you're surprised that I haven't seen it. Why this is the greatest show man? Oh, I thought that's what was coming next, The greatest show me No, trying to you know, fit in, Like the soundtrack is man the greatest? The soundtrack is just ridiculous, Pavona, isn't it like interesting? Yeah? There was perfect. Yeah, I'm with you, man. I guess

he's getting pumps. He's got the goose bumps going on a Friday. I got him back. So I watched the last night. You can't watch without this massive smile on your face. That's how I felt. Okay, I did not. I was listening to some of the Katana against Big Joe musgroove. Then I watched two episodes of Game of Thrones like that getting me ready for I thought, I thought about that all so, and I'm almost done with season seven again, so I'm up to the final episode.

I'll watch that probably tonight, and then I'm good to go. For Sunday and then, like you, I turned on some John Gray and Jeff some Martina called the end of that Sleepy Time. Watch the entire second half of that that game like from the fifth inting on, and um, it was annoying because I just wanted runs anyway, all I wanted his runs. These are not scoring runs right now, Greg, I don't. I don't know if you've noticed that. They're

They're very bad. Rockies are very bad right now. Yeah, and we're gonna get Michael Flory on at some point. They're awful. We're trying, We're trying, We're trying. But you know, this would have been a perfect opportunity for him to say, I love jo I love John Gray. He's the best. That's one you're gonna say because he's the best. I'm just sitting here, like, you know what. One of them was going around probably picked two hundred, and one of

them is going around picked four hundred. So would you rather have can be the guy going around pick four on? I can't believe that happened last night. To me, it was like the worst, and I love that it happened. Uh from Jeffson margin against you, Greg, because you talk so much smacks so much SMA about margin? Is that a real thing? What is fantasy karma a real thing? When you talk smack about a player on the air.

Because I've talked smack about Tyler Glass now all preseason and I'm going against him this week he dropped almost thirty fantasy points on my head, right, So not a thing is that because I talked smack about him. Now I talk smack for Dames about Jordan's urin. It worked out quite perfectly, now you didn't. I was almost getting you to buy in, almost not on Jordan's Erman. I bought it on the bowl And we can start right there, right you want? How about we start on the other

side much better? The Beabes Beabs and you love the Beabes. You love the Beabes, man, I love the Beabs all right? Where do you actually want to start? Where I started? The Beams? Shane Bieber yesterday seven innings of three hit ball, six strikeouts, one walk. He was fantastic against Detroit. Spencer Turnbull not as fantastic against Cleveland, but limited the damage through his four innings. Yeah, Turnbull was disappointing yesterday, to

say the least. I streamed him. If you places I recommended him as a stream on Patron, I'm sorry, but you know I also streamed him. So everything that I tell um, you know, people who listen or read what I write, is exactly what I would do myself. So I had Turnbull in the lineup as well. I had him in the main event. It pushed for Turnbol over Wheeler, we still had Turnbull in there. We had Turnbull and Wheeler and we bet Jose Kitana, which was clearly not

the right decision. But there's still I think there's still a lot to like with Turnbull. I know yesterday was not great, Greg, but over eleven case per nine to start the year, you look at the swinging strike rate, the first pitch strike percentage UM, they're still very good. Twelve and a half percent swinging strike rate for Spencer Turnbull in the season, a near six nice first pitch strike percentage. I still have a lot of interest in Turnbull.

This was a disappointing performance, to say the least against the Cleveland Indians, but I'm not dropping him yet. I'm not giving up on the Bull. Shane Bieber, on the other hand, was great. As you mentioned, the Indians need him to be great with everything that's going on with Mike Clevinger. And I actually looked into Shane Bieber a little bit this morning. Greg had thirteen swinging strikes yesterday, four on his current bolly, it's seven on his slider,

and so I looked into his pitch usage. How about this Greg? Last year his forcing fastball was not good. He allowed a one nineties six isolated power against his fastball. Last year he's lowered his fastball usage by eleven percent and upped his slider usage by eleven percent, So direct correlation. Throwing a slider more throwing his forcing less. His slider is a very good pitch. So I think this is addition by subtraction to take away some of that fastball.

And through two starts, opponents are have a one forty three isolated power against his fastball, so it's down about fifty points. So I think using his fastball lesson using his slider more is actually helping Shane Bieber a lot this year. We believe the Biber just who starts face the Tigers and the Blue Jays, right right? Yeah, so very good matchup. I have no again, no issue with me from there, but good to see him taking advantage of matchups that he should be doing, and that's exactly

what happened. That was part of the reason you like Shane Bieber and all these Indians starters because they played the al Central and we thought the matchups would be good and they were. And Greg. One thing that I will let you know about Shane Bieber is right now, his hard hit rate is forty seven percent, so it's a little scary. It was around forty four percent, but

it will say this right. So one of the main things that we were saying about Bieber heading into the season was that he can't pitch in the zone as much as he did last year. He's got a nibble a little bit more. He's gonna throw outside the strike zone. He is actually doing that this season. His zone percentage last year was forty eight percent, so forty eight percent of his pitches in the zone last year and this season it's forty point nine, so he's lowered it by

about seven percent. And he's getting opposing batteries to chase pitches outside the strike zone thirties five point seven percent of the time. That's up five percent from last year. His first strike percentage is great scent, swinging rakes or Shane Bieber. So pretty much everything is there that that you want to see from him. I want to see that hard hit rate obviously come down. I want to see a few more groundballs, but good command strikeouts are there.

So far Bieber has been great. I want to see, uh, if you can put this together in tough matchups as well. Greg, Yeah, absolutely, I wanted I wanted to be and again he did what he had to do for the first two matchups. The hard hit rate a little bit harder than we wanted it to be, but overall, feeling pretty good about Shane Bieber through his first two starts. Very confident Spencer Turn. When we start him again next week, we own him. Next week, I I would continue to own him. I

would have to look up who he faced. I don't know off the top of my head. Obviously. You know, Turnboll is more of a matchup play not performing the matchup that we liked this week. Next week going up against Pittsburgh, that's not a bad matchup. Pittsburgh does not have a great lineup, and especially with Corey Dickerson out of the lineup. He's on the injured list, they're missing a few other people. They just have like a random cast of characters. They still have Josh Bell, they have

Frankie Savelli and Stop Marte. But really not a lineup that scares me. So in deeper leagues and ale only, I would leave Turnbull in the lineup. In a twelve team league, I would imagine that your replacement value is probably better. Again, I wouldn't drop him, but against the Pirates, I'm not scared of that, Craig. In a daily transactions league, you know, if I'm screaming pictures, I would use him against the Pirates. Sure, I tend to agree with you.

I'm also using him against the Pirates if i still have him on my team by next week. Offense wise, as Frank said, when we were watching the game, everybody was crushing the ball. Everybody is getting hit on the ball except for one guy, and he would over five with two strike as yesterday, and that was Jose Ramirez. And I'm hoping to get Florial along because I do want to talk to to Mikey about Jose amrors and see how nervous he he is when it comes to

Jose Um But really bad man, really really bad. Yeah, a few times that I've talked to Mike regarding Jose Ramirez. His sentiment has been, it's only been two weeks. You know, it's very early on in the season. Let's give this guy's hands. But this is a guy who normally walks a decent amount. He's only walking four percent of the time. And we spoke about him the other day. He's striking out a little bit more than usual. Still hitting too

many fly balls. I understand that's what he did last year in the first half and it worked for him. He hit forty percent fly balls last year fifty one percent. He's fifty percent of the balls that he's putting in play are fly balls. So I just think he's trying too hard to lift the ball here. Um again, I spoke about the pull rate the other day that we need to see that go up because the past, basically his whole career, he's a forty three percent pull hitter.

He's only this year. And remember Greg, when we were watching we watched the Jose Ara mirrors that bat yesterday he hit a screamer to the to the warning track and it got caught. So he was a little bit unlucky there. He made good contact on that one, and he's just been a little bit unlucky this far. He's got babbit s batting average. Again, the babbit is that low because he's hitting fifty one percent fly balls. Hard hit rate is around thirty seven percent. It's just it's

not great to start the year. The one saving graces that he still has three stolen bases. But he's got to turn it on, you know, by next week, a couple more weeks, Like if he's still hitting under two hundred, I might start to hit the panning button. I'm not gonna do it right now, only two weeks into the season, but Greg, if we have a whole month of a sample size he's still hitting under two hundred, yeah, I'm gonna start to worry a little bit. By that point.

You have to it's your first round pick. It's not only your first round pick, Frank, but it was just second half of last year. Also, it's not just it's not just a two weeks or the one month sample size. That's the issue. I want to ask more Deka about Josera mirrors too. So do you know because we talked a lot about whose Era mirrors. I think it's because we own no whatnot? You know Nolan no Ronado also

does not have a home run yet this year. Yeah, I believe he and Josire mirrors might be the only first round hitters, first round caliber hitters without a home run to start to see. I understand that they have a lot of injuries, but and they haven't played a lot of home games either. I believe they've only played two home games and one of them got snowed out. Is that it they only played two against the Braves and that's where got but still has thirty eight runs

scored greg their third most in baseball. Yeah, the marriage is a thirty eight run scored yesterday, So it's like, well, to put that in perspective, they actually have a hundred and seventeen thirty eight more triple Think about this. The Stanfords just Go Giants have thirty nine runs scored. They have one run scored more than the Rockies, which was basically last night they won one zip thanks to who Jeff baby shark? Do do do do do technically because

that's because of stay hot, young man, Stay hot? Why all he's been doing his homework? Are you telling just stay hot? For anyone who might own him. Yeah, I mean obviously should be on there. He should be own in fifteen teamers, fift team mixes. Tigers had just three hits yesterday. Niko Goodrum had one of them. War is eight percent for the for the Indians. We joked about Carlos Santana, but on the years at five one, he is on a fire right now. Stay hot, young man,

Stay hot? Are you mocking me about who let off the game? Greg? You're just gonna completely skip over that. Leones Marttine Martine hits a home run and steals a base in this game. His home run was the second of the season. He also added a double. He was basically the nemesis of term but that's what happens when you face off the bull. But three hits for Leoni's Martin interesting power speed combination. Should he be owning anything shallower than a fifteen team league? Greg? No, probably not,

You don't think so. Probably not. He got off to a slow start, but he's started, he's picking it up. He's got the power speed combo. Have you playing a twelve team roto league with five outfielders? Leonly's Martine be owned there? Probably as a fifth outfielder. I think so shallower than that, like four our fielders or last like twelve teams three outfield leagues. No, we only marteam doesn't have to be on ro five outfielders. I think you should day break. We'll come back. I'm not gonna hit

too much on this A's this A's boils games. We talked about all about the show yesterday Live is christives say a home runs well all the other baseball from yesterday. We hope you get floral as well. Are you going to have this played at

your wedding? There is a strong possibility at some point. Yeah. Well, I was talking about my mom recently. She's like, you're definitely gonna have like a real band, right, you definitely trying to as a band guy. We we were looking at it. It's actually just better for us to have a DJ. Okay, are you gonna grab the mic and sing that song? Because I could just I could again imagine the vone and just stealing the mic and singing

that song. She might Uh, I definitely won't, all right, Um yeah, so I was all for My mom was like, you guys should walk into that song. It's like the greatest show. It's the greater show you night. I'm like, do you know your first song yet? Uh? We do? Can And I basically changed every day like we hear a new song, We're like, oh, that's gonna be the first You're gonna just be like, are you kidding me

with mine tell you off the broadcast? Why not? I don't know, you don't want to everyone else to know yet? Or is my friends don't want to reveal it. So my friends or some of my friends listen. Yeah, that's fun. Yeah, um, so I'll tell you off the Aero problem. But my mom was like, oh, the greatest show, the greatest show,

god Ma, so for you that. By the way, all right, they just deemed him asking for a skype by day SA look at that, So I definitely have it somewhere like we connected with him last week or two weeks ago. There you go, all right, dirty Mike and the boys and the boys, all right, is there anything on the Orioles As game yesterday that you wanted to hit on? The know? We talked, We joked a lot during the

show about the ages being bombs away yesterday. All these home runs I felt like happened with Orioles and the Aids. I will say this again. If you're playing in our fandal contest tonight, you've set your lineup, but by four pm, four pms to cut off. If you're in the contest and you don't set your lineup, I'm booting you. I'm inviting more people. I wanted to run tonight. I won last week and it wasn't for money, so very annoying. But I will say this, Greig, the A's are going

up against true Smiley tonight. Stack the Oakland seem like Mark Canada tonight, I will say, yeah. I mean, he's probably gonna be in the line up. He's gonna bat in the middle of this lineup. Chris Davis is doing Chris Davis. You're gonna be in there, first one to uh first one and nine home runs on the season. Is Chad Pinder him in a lone up? I don't want to sure. They gave Matt Chapman the day off yesterday,

so he was in there because of that. But against the lefty, yeah, he probably will calm down, probably will stop. The other side Cric stop, I think you could drop Cedric Mullins. And with that, we're welcome to Michael Florio. Mike, I'm sorry you had to hear Greg's crappy singing again. I had to cut him off because this guy just won't stop. How are you doing, Mike, and are you dropping Cedric Mullins. I don't own Cedric Mullins. And I'm

doing all right. I just sleep last night. I'lept pretty good. What do you think of Gregg scene that as usual? Right? Yeah, I mean nothing has changed. Have you ever seen the greatest showman? No? Really, I can see Nicolette loving it. Apparently it's as with ye that Fron Really? Yeah, you really just sold me on it there, gregs awesome, Zach,

everyone's awesome and said da pretty hot. Zac Efron is pretty awesome, like Greg's Greg's fit like Jack Alter Ego and zac Efron, No doubt I'll take that is way too high of a compliment for Greg. I kind of agree, way to have a compliment like zac Efron is like the upper echelon of like what I also prefaced my saying, you know is Jack fit version. That's awesome, man, I will take that like any comparison I'm in. Yeah, well normally like Jack fitman Ard, you know, much better looking

than us. I mean you're saying it for how it is. Absolutely, of course it's going to be much better than who we Yes, definitely, I'm sorry. But if you could get as in shape as that Efron, and I highly doubt you will, you will reach his level of you know, being a successful actor in Hollywood. He's that's a high bar. It's a very high bars, Greg, I put you on a pedestal. I put you on a high pedestal, and Florio's trying to drag you down. Takes Nicola let me know.

She if she's seen the greatest Showman? Okay, Yre cool, because it's awesome. Mike. We did bring you up during the first segment because we wanted to get your thoughts regarding jose Ra mirrors. Obviously, we all own him in GSC together. He was our first round pick. We took him fourth overall. Are you worried about him? Have you looked into the bad and ball data? To me, he's hitting balls. It just seems like it's too much, like

he's trying to lift the ball. Maybe a little bit too much here, striking out a little bit more than usual. What do you got on Josier mirrors? Are you worried yet? No, He's he's lifting the ball. He's hitting the ball hard at the same rate as he was last year. Once it warms up, I think those are gonna leave the park. Uh, there's already been a couple this year where I thought if it was warm whether it would have left the park. Plus, I think once you know Lindore returns, that's an obvious

boost for his value. We saw last year this guy could really like get his numbers in a two or three month stretch. So no, I'm not worried yet about Jose Ramirez, which obviously makes him better for Roto because as long as we get the end of season Novembers, we don't really care when they come for you know, head to head, you need a little bit more consistency. But I didn't to agree with you. Look, Josie ra

mirror is I think has to come around. We didn't really plan I guess to ask you this, but we talked about him a lot yesterday regarding Tyler Glass Now, and we spoke about you know, what level picture are you trying to trade glass now four If you're trying to sell him, If you're buying into him and what he's doing so far, then you're obviously not trying to sell him. I had someone tweeted ay today that he sold Tyler Glass now to get Chris sale, which awesome,

that's a great job. I think, where are you out on Tyler Glass now to start the year? If you own him, are you trying to sell high? Probably not. If I own him, I probably got him the way I draft. At least, I probably would have ended up with him as like my SP three or four. And if I have that kind of depth at my pitching, then I'm I'm kind of set with that. It's a

lot like with Blake Snell last year. Why I wasn't selling him after his hot start, I just I believed in it, and with Glass now I I do as well. I did actually write about him potentially being this year's Blake Snell. But my thing is I want to I still want to see him develop a third pitch or start to use that curveball even more. Because he's throwing his fastball like six of the time, well above league average.

We continue to see the decline in fastball usage. So I think if he either has to heavily incorporate that curveball a little bit more, or if he can develop a third pitch, that this guy can take that next step and really be I think right now I have him as like a I would value him as kind of an s P two with how he's pitching. If he can make those adjustments as the year goes on, and if I'm trusting any team to help a picture make that adjustment, it would be the Rays would be

one of them. If he can make those adjustments, I could see him really taking even another step in the right direction. And if he can continue to build up that, he could potentially be a league winner. I wouldn't be so quick to sell him, but if you would get like a Chris Sale or or a proven picture like that. The first thing that came to mind was like James Paxton. I would try to him for Paxton right now, Like, if you could do something like that, then I would.

I would do that. But if you have to get lower than that, I'm just gonna stick with the upside of glass. Now what about Walker Bueller. Walker Mueller I'm afraid of I didn't. I didn't draft him anywhere because out of the well, it started off as fourteen aces and by you know, the end of draft season, it was twelve bases out of the fourteen, and out of the twelve, he was always my last ranked one. Uh And part of it is because he's the least proven

of the bunch. I wasn't worried about his innings in the sense of on a perse start basis because we saw him last year. They'll let him go six seven innings. I was more worried about his if they were gonna let him, you know, go two hundred innings. And I'm the guy who always says, you know, you want the quality. The quality of the innings don't matter as long as you're getting strong performances. But with my top two pictures in the rounds that I have to invest, I do

view that a little bit differently. Plus, I'm always cautious of pit shoars who go deep into the playoffs because then they have a shorter time to to recover and to start ramping it up for the next season. And Bueller was a pitcher who not only had a significant inning jump last year, but also it was pitching into the World Series. So to me, there was some red flags. I wasn't saying like I had him as a bust or anything, but he was always consistently the last of

the aces. For me, I think that makes a lot of sense. And I'm going to try and paint the glass half full here, Greg, because I do own a share of Walker Bueler in a great fantasy based momentational and if you own Walker Bueller, I think this is what you might want to hear. I don't disagree with what Mike said coming into the season, but on the season, his command has been got awful. You saw that yesterday he hit a few batters. He like walked in runs.

He's averaging over three nearly four walks for nine three point seven five walks for nine. His strand rate is like that, that's just abysmal. He's still getting fifty percent groundballs. The swinging strike rate is a little bit down, but his first pitch strike percentage also down, um, but down the chase rates down. The chase rates down, so people are laying off of pitches outside the zone and that's part of the reason why the walks are up. But

the velocity, the fastball velocity still there. I'm looking at the cutter velocity, Greg, it's up two miles per hour this year. UM. The slider is down, which is weird. So I understand. I think he's kind of getting ramped up here because he has such a late start to spring training. It's kind of similar to Chris Sale. They both go deep into the postseason. Obviously, Chris Sale much more proven, so we have more trust that he will

bounce back. But you know he got Walker Buler got a late start to the spring, Greg and I think this is kind of still part of his spring training. Um. And you know, he's never been a guy to walk this many batters. So it wouldn't surprise me if we see a Dodgers like i Elston at some point here, I think soon with Kershaw and rich Hill, you know, nearing their return like that wouldn't surprise me regarding Walker Bueller, But I'm not completely jumping ship yet. If I own him,

like I'm not just trying to sell. Are you doing the opposite then? Are you just buying low? So like Glass now for Walker Bueller, is that something that you would do Me personally, I'm not a huge believer in Glass now, so I probably would do that. I would do that. But you know, if if you're a believer in Glass now, if you're someone who trusts what he's done, and you trust the prospect pedigree and you expect him

to kind of take this next step forward. Maybe you know, Mike mentioned his name in the same breath as a Blake Snell, So if you kind of believe that he can take obviously not that step. Not be a cy young but take that next step and be this good. Then you're probably on the side where you want to just keep Tyler Glass now. And if that's you, that's fine. Like I don't own him anywhere, but if if that's you, that's fine me Personally, I would I would trade him

for Walker Bueller if I can. But that's a classics you know, sell high by low. We mentioned Josie Ramirez, the other name that I brought up before Florio where you got on, and I was talking to Frank about we'll go back into the games in the second with nol Aranada, who has not hit a home run yet this season. Frank mentioned, Hey, they only play two games, of course, but I don't care when Nolan Arnado's playing and he's the first round pick because he's very, very

good everywhere. What's non Eronado? I just think the whole Rockies organization as a whole is off to a slow start. We saw this last year too, and they were able to bounce back. Ronado. I I don't I'm not worried about him at all. I I do believe at the end of the year he'll be where he always is the fact. I mean, if we look at it, it's two weeks, like you said, they have they've only played two games at cores So and they've also played in like Marlin's Park, which is a hard place to hit.

So I'm not giving, you know, excuses for Nolin Ernando, but it is way too early for me to even consider worrying about him. He's I think, the most consistent player in fantasy baseball. Yeah, I do agree with that. That's the hard hit rate thirty eight percent, basically on par with his career. I think he might be trying to lift the ball a little bit too much to start the season. Greg, his his fly ball percentage is actually up and he's actually been jammed a few times.

His infield fly ball rate is up to which we're not normal uh normally used to scene from nol Aranado. So I do tend to agree. Again, Look, know a lot of his production is going to come at home in coorse Field. Wants the weather heats up there. You know, he's like every other Rockies hitter. He has great splits at home regarding coors Field. So just look, there's gonna be more of those games to come. So if someone in your league is freaking out about Ronado. I would.

We're also still at the point of this season, though, where one game could literally change the entire like pro player profile right now. Like I saw on Twitter, it was actually PAULS. Boord was leading about it. He wrote about how Joey Gallo had a his strikeout rate was down significantly this year, and then Joey Gallo had a three I think it was a three strikeout game, and

his strikeout rate was back over thirty. So we're still at the point where we're dealing with extremely small sample sizes and literally one game could change ratios across the board. It's a good point too, because we own Ronald Dakunia greg and look at that. It's a couple of games in a row. Now he has a three hit performance. Last night he was just batting like one eighty and now he's hitting two sixty two and he's got five home runs in the year. So it only takes a

few game for these guys to get hot. I e Ronald Kumia absolutely and hopefully that happens soon rather later for No Nada and Josie Ramirez and more of Ronald Dakunia and all the other players, were you more likely to buy low Greg, Jose Ramirez or No One Arnado? No One or not for me? Um, Josie Ramirez obviously has the ability to steal bases and runs. We've seen a couple of steals out of Ramirez, but I just can't get out of the back of my mind now

and again it's been two weeks. I recognize that the second half of last year, like No. One, I didn't have that down horribly down second half of last year, and he has a whole lot more games at course to come. I think Ramiro's will bounce back and be fine. If I have to choose one of them to pick, to pick, it's probably Aaronada. Even though we drafted Josira. Mirror is over Aronada. You know three weeks ago, why

did think he'd be this bandman? Look, I would say, if you play in a any kind of categories or RODA League, I would still rather take the stolen base of thirty thirty upside of a guy like Josie Ramirez. But in uh In I had to hit you know what, Josier Mirrors is really good and head to head points too. I guess overall, I would just rather take Josier mirrors. What do you think, Mike, If I'm one, Yeah, I'm I'm probably gonna go with Ronado just because, not that

I would I had him ranks higher than Ramirez. I just think he's safer and more consistent, so if you have some worries, also, I think he's in a better lineup, better ballpark, everything, kind of, He's just so much safer. So I would be more inclined to buy Ronado. But at the same point in time, I think it's much more likely that a Jose Ramirez owner is panicking based off of the second half last year in the slow start,

rather than Ronado. I I would imagine that most Ernado owners feel very similar that we do, Like this guy is gonna be fine. I'm surprised Gregg hasn't asked if we could drop him yet. Mike, Yeah, I know. Greg wants to drop everyone every week, everyone but the most players. Yes, we were going through GDD today, He's like this guy, we gotta drop, this guy, we gotta drop. I wasn't really wrong in any of them. Is here, Mike, Here's who I said. I wanted to drop Wellington Castillo, which

I put in a bit, and I'm dropping it. He sucks. Why am I keeping him? I wanted to drop Yonder Alonso. Frank said, no, I find fine, you could have that one. But whatever, what I don't Yonder Alonzo was terrible. Oh well, let's move on. I wanted to drop Wilmar Flores, Great, no problem. I wanted to drop Tyler by the way, it was Tyler ro O'Neil. I want to drop Great, no problem. I said, we could drop Marwin Gonzalez, Fine, no problem. Is there anything he was so wrong about there? No? Um,

there was the Yonder Alonzo one. I've never been a big Yonder guy. Like, I'll admit that that was Frank's guy. But I did write about him in Fancheck, my one of my fan checks articles this week. His walk rate is up dramatically, Like it's twenty three point three percent right now. Last year was eight point nine. So if that's something he's incorporated into his game, the ability to draw more walks, I do think an ov P and

points leagues there's reason to be intrigued there. But g d D is just a five by five rodor league, right, So yeah, I don't love Alonzo in that format and uh the other guys. Yeah, I think you're depending on who's out there though, because that's always a big factor in leagues that deep. Like. So, I was I was going to we put bids in on dead, vogel Box and Mitch morelandex obviously vogo Box, you guys, all three of those guys, act, Will Frazier and vogel Box. You

guys are gonna be spending on I hope. Well, how aggressive are you on vogel Box right now, Mike? Because I have reference this the other day and you picked him up in our home league for I believe nine bucks, So how aggressive would you be on him? Yeah? I mean I spent nine out of a hundred bucks, So I'm feeling pretty aggressive on him and that league though, I will say, uh, Frank, you're in that league as well. It's an auction league. I went more stars and scrubs

than I haven't had before. Uh, So I am looking to fill in some holes in my lineup. For corner infield, I had C J. Crone, who I think is better in Rhodo. Don't really love him in points at all, so I dropped him for vogel Box, and I'm hoping. All that I think vogel Bock needs is a playing time, and I think they would be silly to get away from giving him playing time. So I'm kind of trusting

the Mariners here to do the right thing. And I think if he continues to see the playing time, he's been crushing the ball so and and he is also a player who came with some prospect pedigree, so I think there is reason to be excited there. When and see you here, this is one of my favorite ones. Yeah, it's not any favorites, not only like

this one. Ron. There's a country version of the Grandish showing. It's not like it's not good, it's it's it's arguably at least you things that we don't condone here on the Fantasy BFFC. Definitely one of them. Shock and done country music. Do we do not condoned Dave Matthews band? Whatso we end the show every day with Dave Matthews

not we you do not me. I never agreed to that, Uh, Bavona, I curse you because because during the breaks, now every freaking break, Greg's just sitting here, you know, answering around and singing this show. So I'm happy. Yeah, kissing me off? So anyway, right, no, no, no, please don't play Metallico. No, let me we're about to say, well, well let me well, let's know what we're about to sail well back with you Fantasy best friends for whatever Fantasy Sports Network voted.

We can get that Jack Affron Hugh Jack Mason and they sing together where they're at the bar. That great. Please don't do that like that one, thanks buddy. No, Mattaca, we start off the hour two of Metallica. Did you start off every segment with Mattaca? Greg Metal? That's amazing. Um, we're talking about it last earlier, Florio, So I wanted

to talk to you about it. What took place in that Colorado San Francisco game where Baby Shark and John Gray both went wild seven innings of three hit, ball, one walk, seven caves for some marja uh six and two thirds five hits. The only run that Johnny Gray allowed was a Kevin Pollard homer in the seventh, six strikeouts for your body, John Gray? What was real? What

was not here? Mike? I think a lot of it was matchup based, Like I'm not getting excited about Gray because he can pitch well against the Giants in San Franz, Like that's the best picture ballpark. That's you know, one of the worst lineups in baseball outside of Kevin Pollar, who was just absolutely on fire with the Shark. I did tweet last night like seven shutout innings, seven strikeouts,

only thirteen swinging strikes. But still it's a step in the right direction against I know, I understand the Rockies are atrocious right now offensively, but I still think you have to take notice. I did put I'm not trusting

him yet. I'm not like picking him up and starting him by any stretch, but if he's out there, I do think, you know, throw a couple of bucks on him this weekend and see if you have anything there with him, because again I'm not fully sold on him, but he's done nothing wrong to to kind of, you know, get treated like some Marja the last couple of years, half Vona. If Greg's gonna request bad music coming back from breaks, then I want baby Shark as one of

our songs. Commemorate jeff So Marja owning your ass yesterday, Greg, because you hate jeff So Marja and he owned you. That would be baby Shark Bivona, Baby Shark is Elvis Andrews is legit walk up song. That's great. I don't know like he comes up to it every yet, at least he did early in the season. I don't know if he still does. Who came out to the Undertaker song the other day, Hansel Robulists and you guys haven't. If you guys haven't seen the entrance video the Angels

have made for Robulists, please go check it out. It is the weird thing. Ever. He comes up to the Undertaker's music and in the video they show rose petals falling, they show a horse running, they show just his feet as he runs in from the bullpen. It's a very very strange video and it also cannot be more unfitting for a picture to come out to that song than Hansel Roblists actually just retweeted it. If anyone else wants to watch it, I'm watching it right now live. There

are candles, there are rose pedals. Why are they making such a big deal out of Hansel Roblists. This is kind of like a like a wrestling intros. Now, if he was, his finishing move would be pointing at home runs, thinking their infields flyall. I love what he does that. Every time there's a fly ball, he just points up at the sky and it goes five feet. It's the best. I've never seen anyone else do that before. Hello, what

does that? He does it every time? Man, any time, every fly ball he thinks it's a pop up five hundred feet out? What are you doing the salad? What are you doing? I wanted to hear it. You can't hear during the break? Come on? What are we doing right? What was Cantana versus Joe Musgrove last night? A pictures do well? An awesome, awesome performance here, Mikey. Unfortunately we uh we did not use Jose Cantana because he got rocked in his first started to give up eight and

runs against the Brewers. But he was much better yesterday at fifteen swinging strikes, and I looked into his pitch ustage. So far this season, it's a lot closer to what he was doing, which is great because THO those were his best years, whereas last year he sucked. So I think only good things are going to come right for Rosana, like as long as he's not walking the world like he did last year, and the swinging strikes are up this year. And he's getting a few more wishes on

his curve and his changeup as well. Like this is kind of why I was back in on Jose Cantana. Would you see last night from both him and Musgrove. I'm much more excited about must Grove. I'm not fully sold on Qantana yet. The fact that he could pitch well against the Pirates isn't enough to completely push me overboard. Plus I'm kind of burned. I had him in a lot of spots last year, and this was a trend with him, bad good, bad good, just when you were

ready to drop him. Every time, he'd go out and throw a start like this and suck you back in. Then you put him in your lineup and he would just get rocks. So I kind of want to see him do it a little bit more. I'm not saying there's no reason to be intrigued by him. I know both of us read that article in the Athletic this year and we were excited that he made a mechanical change. So I was very hopeful that he could get back to the Jose Quintana of old. But I wanna this

was a great step in the right direction. I want to see him do it more than one outing against the Pirates. But as for Joe Musgrove, He's looked awesome so far this year. He's everything we all thought he could be and more. I haven't got to do my deep dive on these pictures yet. I do it every morning for my Patreon page. I put it right up on it, so I'm gonna do that after this show. But I can tell you right now I'm already much

more excited about Joe Musgrove. And it's probably because as I've been burned in the past by Kantana, but I want to see it a little bit more out of him. Yeah. I have a lot of shares of Jose Kantana, so obviously I needed to see this bounce back performance against the Pirates. I agree, it's obviously a great matchup against him next week in Miami against the Marlins. Uh. That

goes without saying that that's a must start. But I do like what I what I saw when I kinda I kind of dove into some deeper stuff with these guys today regarding Katana and must Grove, and I like that he's using his pitch arsenal similar to Stretch where he was obviously much better Greg, and then for must Grove. I'm sure you'll you'll notice this when you look at it, Mike.

His velocity is down. I know it's only two starts and usually they build up, but his four seen velocities down three miles per hour and his slider velocities down two miles per hour. So normally, if you start the year down one or two miles per hour, like we expect you to build it up three miles proble on the fastball, two miles on the slider. Again, I love

Musgrove raft, Joe must grow. We started the chant here um and I still like what I've seen from him, but the La City is definitely something that I'm paying attention to here. Mike. Yeah, I wrote that on after his last start that he was down consistently across the board about to maybe on some pitches a little bit more than that, So that is very worrisome. It is uh still, you know, very early in the season and very cold, and last night's game was sub optimal weather conditions.

But what I liked again, I haven't looked at his last night's outing, but he threw as a before last night, he was throwing his slider almost thirty two percent of the time. He had twelve of his uh seventeen swinging strikes on that pitch. And remember last year I kept saying the starts that he pitched well were the ones where he didn't use his four seam fastball, like I believe the number was like fifty plus percent of the time, and the starts where he pitched poorly was when he

was heavily reliant on that fastball. So to see him throwing his slider as much as he is, I'm very, very excited right now. It's a good call too, because even after last night's game, his slider percentage is up around eleven percent, and his whiff rate on that slider is that that's up five per sent from last year at eighteen percent, So yeah, he's doing using the slider more and it's actually been even more effective this year than it was last year. So that's a good call.

Florio gonest Tom I actually was able to remember my log in for Fandels, so I ken play in it now. We'll get you invite, We'll get you in there. I won it last week, but we didn't have enough people didn't count, so it didn't run for money, but I dominated. I had like a hundred ninety points, and I didn't win anything because not enough people joined. Boo, we'll have one more this week. Didn't count. Didn't count. My didn't count because you probably finished in fourteenth that of fifteen.

I would say fifteen, but I know that Chris venture finished in fifteen. I have some suck. I've set a preliminary lineup for now. I'm waiting to see, you know, when more lineups come out. Obviously I've done though a lot of set. He's just gonna leave it alone no matter what. Yeah, you reveal what picture're using, or you do not want to do that you're using. Go to the squad Chris Paddock. Paddock going up against the Diamond Paddy. Actually, I read a great article on Paddock on The Athletic

where seven thousand people retweeted, Actually, it's it's awesome. I actually got into a little spat on Twitter because of it, because someone wanted me to give it away and I was like, no, dude, I'm I also right and like stuff, I'm not going to give away someone's work for free. And they got like a little bit annoyed at me. But great article by. You know, the it's all about his changeup and how he's been working on it since

high school. It has two lefties, it kind of goes out of the strike zone, that moves back in, and it's just an absolutely filthy pitch. So Paddock, Yeah, I'm I mean, I'm very excited about him, although we did sit him in our league this week. So I noticed last week you put the put him back up, put them back up, Martina. So I noticed this last week. Week you just had a blank wall behind you. Now there's one thing on your way. Had that last week, Yeah,

and I pay attention. I guess he was sitting directly in front of it last week. I didn't see it. When he moves around, he gets and he did see it. I also don't have this view of the screen like you do. You know that right your eyes checked. It's about angles. My apartment is still pretty bad. We're still in the process of during NFL season, it was really hard for me to really do anything. So we're gonna gonna get a desk and like put up a bunch

of stuff right behind where I'm sitting now. Actually, but that sign, it's the exact mileage from where we live to City Field. Nicolet had a custom made for me. It's very nice. That's a good fiance right there. It's a very good fiance. Greg, Mike, when are you coming back to New York? I don't know yet. There's a I'll tell you, guys, some stuff off the air. There's some stuff holding it up. But when I when I do, I will be back in New York at some point. And when I do, I'm hoping I get to go

to a Met game. And I had to bring this out because you know, today is a day I get to see this guy. It's Wheeler Day, all right, that's cool. Wheels up, baby, let's go. It's amazing the publicity. Wheels Up is a Wheeler Day. Harvey Dame was the thing until Harvey sucked, and we can't do a Harvey Dame. Ya. Now it's wheels up, wheels amazing. Do we have anything else? What do we? Of course, that's not a thing now.

Thor Day is not a thing, Greg, probably something are making a synder Garden Game of Thrones bobblehead and it looks amazing. I'm actually getting one, so I'm pretty exciting that admit this. Mets do a much better job with their bubbleheads, and these ones are they're nice, like I I think I got Brett Gardner last year in David Wells and tonight is actually Bernie Williams Bobblehead night tonight at the at the Stadium where Bernie Williams Jersey, but

I will not be attending. But they, you know, the Mets just to a lot more creative stuff with the whole Todd Fraser w w E one that was awesome. Did you get that? I didn't get it. But the thor Game of Thrones when I've seen that too, it's awesome, it looks awesome, it's great. I also saw the Angels were doing one. I think last week it was Mike Trout silver Slugger bobblehead was just like a bunch of

silver bats. And from sick that the Mets they did the Jacob Degraham saw Young Award and actually someone is sending me that one as well, but it's it's just him holding the trophy. It's not as creative as the other ones. Still more creative than anything Yankees got. Going on May the fourth, they're doing CC with the with the light saker that they always do that they had Judged last year. It doesn't excite man jed I because you know it doesn't like it. It's just because everybody does.

That's all. You guys might get mad at me for this, But Peter Alonso to me, is the most fun player in New York since the first year of Aaron Judge. I know we're very early in the season, but it just reminds me of like when Judge first that first season, and which is destroying baseball's every night, and like that's all like people were talking like when Peter Alonso gets up now, like on Twitter, that's you just see one like oh, like Peter lands will doing this, like doing that,

like it's the mode. To me, it's the closest thing I've experienced since your guys Aaron Judge phenomenon. And I'm not mad at you at all. I actually said this the other day. I actually compared him to Aaron Judge in terms of his stature, how hard he hits the ball, and even if the strikeouts are there, the fact that he hits the ball so hard, like he's not gonna sink your batting average because he makes optimal contact. And I saw the home run. I believe it was again

last night, right, he had another one. The way to describe it for me is easy power, Like when you watch him swing, it's this easy power, like he makes contact, just drives it to straight away center field like it's nothing. So I tend to agree with you. It's like every time this guy steps to the plate, there's a chance that he's gonna hit a home run. So I'm not mad at that call. You know. I think Matt Moldika's description was the best Joey Gallo with a batting average.

That's what it was. And I said that it's funny because we were talking, Um, it's not as much of like a three true outcome like Judge because he doesn't walk as Wright knew. I knew. I saw the perfect comparison from a guy I can't remember what it was though. Yeah, what is Alonzo's walk? Great? Right? I think it's like under ten percent. But I know his barrels per played appearance because Baseball finally released twenty nineteen information he's second

behind only one player in baseball. And I don't know if you guys would guess it or not. I actually just looked it up, so I can't guess it. Greg, you get one guess? Are you get two guesses? Chris Davis? Nope, such a bad Chris Davis four. It was not It wasn't great then, all right, so then just tell me I'm gonna get it. Dan Vogelbach Um, No, he actually ranked sixteen, so not both of your guests were in the top six scene it is El Garrichez who you know.

The Yankees just added Kyle Hi Gashioka to the roster. Greg, does that make you worried about Gary Sanchez? Yeah? I mean you have to go on the i L now one word DHL weekend just not be el Really. Yeah, that's that's what I was gonna say. The Yankees right now would be small to call up a catcher like they did and actually get Gary Sanche at bats a d H while their outfield is you know, banged up, and I mean while their whole lineup is banged up.

Take advantage of that and not make Gary's First of all, don't subject your pictures to Gary Sanche's catching for the time that you don't have to, and don't subject his body to that wear and tear. And you haven't been all over the Yankees like like we are Floria, but also reminds that a terrible year on like ast outside of that like four weeks stretch last year has never been that great. I haven't seen him defensively, he's good,

just strictly talking defensively. YEA, yeah, dad, I don't know. Yeah. By the way, I just so you know, Pete Alonzo I predicting him as my Rikie of the year, saying me too. I had Chris Paddocks, so sure, I like, you know, we both have pretty through two whole weeks of the season. We're on it in the al though, I had ELOI, so that's looking terrible. What did I haven't the probably glad, I would assume A. Yeah, just kind of taken the chalk with that one. Seems a

little bit too easy. Let you be up soon. Um. Like, outside of Dan, Vogelbacher had a few names here on the rundown, Who do you think is the most must add player right now? We're gonna obviously dive into the waiver wire alot. Second, what do you think is the biggest must add player in fantasy right now? Um? I like Max Freed a lot if he's available. I think Dan's by Swanson should be added. Uh. And if Jesse Winker, I see you have him on the list here too.

If he's been dropped, I'm still picking him up. I want to end this with this way. Floria in a twelve team league mixed is Jerriedson profile an absolute must own? Uh? He is much better in points league. So if you're in the points league, I do think so. He hits a lot of doubles, he's gonna walk, he's gonna limit

the strikeouts in a standard five by five league. I don't think he's a you know, a guy that you have to have on your roster, but I would be hard pressed to cut him this early in the season. All Right, there you got Mike Florial. We appreciate the time. Just Patreon, I mean what, he has a Uber fan tracks and everywhere else he writes. All right, we appreciate time. Then of course, thank you guys. Let's doing this with y'all. Flowsers up next the Ventura. Okay,
