You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Fantasy best Friends Forever to DoD t too, do do do too? Yeah, says the Fantasy best Friends Forever Here the Fantasy Sports Radio Network, alongside Frank Staffle, I am, Greg Sussman, Frank's what's going on? It's going on? You know how you're doing? I'm I'm surrounded man? How are you? You were surrounded by Frank's thought it was I thought it was accurate yesterday.
Say two francs one, Greg, That's what it is. Much the name of the episode here, do you want to introduce your father? And to my left, the man, the myth, the legend. Frank Staffe Senior, according to the lower third, is too old for Twitter. Too old for Twitter, Frank, how are you? I'm no fine. How did you sleep last night? Greg? I said pretty well? I said pretty well? Actually yeah, no, uh no real issues speak of how
did you sleep? I couldn't sleep. Too excited. I'm too excited about coming to the show, and uh, I'm all excited about Fantasy Baseball Yankees. I couldn't sleep. I tossed in turn. I went to bed at two o'clock. Oh my god. And because I used to work at nights, so you know, I used to gonna go to bed before four or five o'clock in the morning. My body so used to that. So he tied right now, then, did you feel like you should be sleeping? Hey, listen, I'm in good shape. I'm an old man, but I'm
in good shape, speaking a good shaving old men. But I did. I tossed and turn until like four am, four am. I finally I finally went out right And at eight o'clock my wife woke me up and said I got ready to go. He text me at you know ten, Hey, I just got off the train, So doesn't start for another I'd rather all my life, even with work, I always like to be there early in case something pops up. You're not late z. No, No, definitely not. No, he is not that from you, but
it will say this, and it's a completely honest day. Right. So we walked in and I meet I meet Frank's dad. Frank. He goes, Huh, you are not nearly as fair as I thought you were. Like what, when you sit down, you look fat, When you stand up you look skinny. So you stand up a half and I'm like, all right, I'm gonna stand up the whole I'm gonna I'm gonna do the whole show like this. That's it. I feel better. Yeah, sure, I think you appreciate that we've always said about the Dawn.
And we can kind of go into why he has that nickname a little bit later. That's what happened to uh at the Christmas shirt you are Matt, Matt Maryland, Maryland, Maryland. It was really I wasn't gonna go anywhere. Did you want? Did you guys watch the game? You guys watch the game? Did I watched? I watched every single game, one and after another. They were they were down a fifteen and came up the way back and we're winning, and then they let me down. You said you did said that
we're gonna win by five. They did, and they didn't. They did not did cover the spread though if he would have been it was the spread, uh two and a half. You go, Greggy, I got I got eight eight brackets going in the n c A. A he's a madman animal, he's got animal or out of the eight the guy duke to win it all? Do You're not really a bracket of integrity? Guy? Okay, someone integrity. You know we were talking about last week, Greig. Everyone's
in a college basketball analysts time. He's big on a I'm gonna buy the newspaper the day before every ead. All I read, all you know, all the you know who got there is that the offense is good just when the defense is not good. And I just take it from there. What no means is he a college basketball like you guys are like fantasy stuff. I'm not like you guys. When I look up to a DP and this and that and all that stuff and I
go up my gut, this is great. This go my gut and I and I do like power that every year I screw myself up in fantasy because I like power so much. I always pound the power and then my starting pitching is yeah, yeah, pretty much the same this too. Yeah, oh yeah, because I took I took trout. I was debating troutist Gerza with the first pick. But I I took traffic because I like power, and I figured why not my bracket up tape. By the way, Greg's beating Judy. Oh nice. Usually you get creamed by
Judy every year, right, bracket championship. A lot of playoffs. Who do you have winning at all? Oh? Everyone does? Yeah? Four four out of the four out of the eight. Um he has duke to Judy has duke? Where did she go to school? And we are you you? Oh Judy smart girl? Yeah do you think Judy? Oh gosh, Judy had Mariland her final four inscrow off in my heart justice Ville, you also have marilynd in your final four.
You're a little bit more realistic Judy. The real problem for for poor juds She had a Villanuva in her championship against Florida. They're both out, so it looks like greatly the champion this year. In fact, all three of Judy's four finals four teams are eliminated. She has Villanova, Maryland, Florida and U N c basically crown now crown him king King the honest. Um. All right, so let's show today we have both Frank's in here, I'll talk about
their Fantasy basically league. I'm very excited to hear your history and together and doing fantasy leagues in general. And then I'll started and then we'll get into your MVP picks, your cy young picks, World Series Division winners, all that good stuff. I'll do that venture. It'll be off, of course in our number two to to join us and break it all down with us. But let's start, um with some of your background, Frank, and how long have you been playing fantasy? What sport do you like the most?
All that good jazz? Well, actually started fantasy and like late eighties, and we used to uh, we used to have to You used to have to h for all your starters, and then if you wanted to pick up free agents, there was a section on there who you're dropping, who are you gonna pick? Who you want to pick up? And and it was it was like six dollars and fifty cents per lineup. But if you owned more than one team, then they cut it in half. So you
had like like when Frankie. When I got Frankie into it when he was when he was a kid, I used to have two teams for myself. It was six fifty and then three twenty five and then another three him. So and uh, we used to do I used to do it every week. I used to get like this big envelope in the mail and I'm like by Monday, but you had to have a postmark for the following week Thursday, so you had to feel out all this stuff. And uh, actually, Frankie, you saw that the game was
like maybe like five years old when he started. I mean, he didn't know nothing about my stuff. But I used to say to my Frankie, you who do you want to start? This guy? That guy you know, like you know, I gave him like two options, and uh, he did well. And he doesn't like hockey, but he won the championship in hockey. The name of the name of his his team was the Pittsburgh Punishes. Pittsburgh Punishes. Yeah, and he
also want a baseball one too. But I don't recall the name of recall the name the name of the team. But how could you couldn't can get Johnny Stafford involved in this Jonathan. He's a batman kind of got bat and wrestling. That's it. Batman wrestling. I mean likely we signed him with for T ball, I think, you know what. And he didn't want to play. He he's come off the field half the time. He didn't he don't want to be balded. No, no, I don't like this. I don't want to do this. So I had to waste
my money for that year. It was in Factora some money. What is your favorite fantasy sports A play? I like them all, like him all. I'm not a big hockey person, but I do fantasy hockey too. I got I got a team right now in ESPN. It's and it's it's battling for the to get into the championship. Nice. Yeah, I mean he has animal like five teams for each sports, at least five, so you get it from yeah, I try not. I love it. I love it that that
that that's my life. If you had tops sports and music, if I had to choose one day, I to choose one, I might I think the baseball. It's my first baseball and football and basketball. I really love basketball, but I I don't do that well in basketball fantasy. I don't know why the league you're you're in the Sillies this year?
Were you not? Right? Uh? And yeah one of the league's that was, Yeah, I wanted wanted to play, but in the one with KINGA and them like that every year, right and almost dead last because everybody that I draft, it's hurt, it's hurt. Last year I had like four guy is gonna got a hurt. This year had three guys that will hurt. So I said, yeah, what am I gonna do? One of these years? I got? I gotta get lucky. Do people call you guys out for
the least ring together, for like colluding together? See that's why we know a lot of times we don't. We don't make trades, you know, let's trade. And he said, no, no, that how people think that that? Well you know that way, you know, cheating. And Michael Florio was a big culprit of this. He's like, oh, you run two teams. No, I don't you ask me questions? Who should I start my job? No, maybe you should ask Greg. I'll give you Greg's number. You can text him and call him
and ask him your question. Well, I don't think that's the coluting. It's genuous. If I don't, I think I think the trades would be the part that we don't trade anymore. I don't think you can. Don't You shouldn't appetially keep the league too. So how do you? How how did your keep re league? Draft? Go? In this league? It's all right, right, yeah, I mean not crazy about my pitching really, you know, I have a couple of guys.
We talked a lot about you on the show. You had the first overall pick in this league, and the question was Mike Trout right for four hittkeepers? Right? So we had this this whole debate, and at first I was all up, like Trout for you, the Jeff Trout, Trout Trout. And then Frank told me how many more points shows are head than Trout last year in your league? And I was like, you, probably the draft shots are at that point, and you didn't you have to Mike Trout,
how come look at it this way? I was on I was on the fence up until like ten minutes before that we were gonna We're gonna draft. Probably didn't help. Who are you gonna take? Who are you gonna take? Oh? Man, I would like to get scars up, but no, I don't know. Listen that you know, because I figured the way I look at it is if a pictures pitches every five days and you have a hit up that's playing every day, I was thinking you would get you get your earned more points that way, and but just
going with a picture that goes every five days. But you know, then the gaff that if that hitter doesn't do what he's supposed to do, then you have a problem. He took trout first overall, and he ended up with the Jose burri Els and Strassburg has his top two pictures. Not ideal, but the keeper league. I mean that's who was available in the two three. I drafted for a friend last night and I so I was walking home when the draft started, like it wasn't home on my phone.
He was have worked dinner, and he gave me his list of players that he wanted in the order, and it's like two docks and going back and forth on my phone and I'm trying to figure out who went who didn't, and I'm like, dude, like I'm doing the best I can for until I got home, and the best hitter on the board in the second round, it's keeper league was Anthony Rendon, All right, cool? I got that Rendon two three turn in the first pick, all right,
that makes sense. I got that pitching wise, I thought the best picture on the board was Strasburg, and I
told him that's they're great, that makes sense. Draft him draft Strasburg literally right after I type it in and then actually pressed the check mark on my phone for it because Cluber went right, when I can go back, like, oh god, club club did not go So, I mean I tried to erase the spreads the cell that I entered in my draft pick in and put Corey Kluver and the people that are in this jet and we're not very happy with Jeff. Did they allow you to
keep Kuber? No? Is this for Jeff the Jet fan? Yeah, Jeff Jet fan. Why couldn't Jeff do his own draft? And I worked dinner? He said, So what were you doing that You were walking around lurking last night? You had an appointment? Alright, wedding appointment. That's a lot out. A massage, back massage, like a Robert kraffassage. No robertsassage. I had a massage last night, so I was coming, so I was home elite um, yeah, that was it.
Then I went home. I had left over Lasagnie like I told you about and Jeff of Jeff's team full of laundry. That was my night last night, very exciting night. It was not right Sday night actually watching Dodgers Angels Spring training baseball. Actually so was I. Yeh. I saw their prospect and like, his name is Dustin May's got his big red hair. Did you see him pitch now? I turned it all along. Before that, I watched the seven or run second inning or whatever. I was like, right,
I'm good Dustin May. Their their third rank prospect and the Dodgers organization. I saw him on the mound. This guy has this huge red hair. It's like like a lion. Do these friends are just these friends are Justin Turner potentially? Yeah, I mean it's red. It's like so Justin was touched by That was just for you? Yeah, yeah, speaking of the Dodgers, like Chris Taylor thing is still bothering me from Extra Taylor. Did you drop him for Elvis Andrews yet? No?
I don't want to waste to pick up yet. I want to see if Garrett Haason's story Opening Day first Probably not though now I'm sorry. It's okay man, It's okay. Um. Let's go back to to to you big frank here um, although you're smaller than the actual figure to me at one point, not anymore. Right. Too much pasta for you, Austa makes you grow Gregg, Believe me, I know that's why I'm not a bista. Really, I'm eating potatoes, guy. Really, he's classic, classic meat and potato. Like. We ate mashed
potatoes so much growing up. I can't eat mashed potatoes anymore. I don't like mash only only if I make loaded only if I make loaded ones, Dan Hill, eat what's in the loaded ones? Yeah, we made and baking. We make these cream cream mashed potatoes. They are good. Do you like mashed potatoes? We make up with cream? Give me rice can be pasta. But a lot of times you know what I did when when I made the potatoes.
I know he didn't like it. I do like like roast, like roasted potatoes for him, just special, just him, French fries for him. Those roasted potatoes are classic. That delicious roast potatoes bring you in some all right, fair enough about my visit. Um, So drafts are basically done. Like I said, I had this last draft that I helped out day last night. There's no more drafts, so it's
kind of like all speed ahead for Opening Day here. Um, and I think the biggest news to come out of yesterday really is that Fernando Tatis can we do the headline? Is that cool? And we'll get to it more about Fattis coming up after the break of Fernando Tatis, who you sit on the show, Frankie, just so you know, he hasn't it been set down yet, Just throwing that out there. I think either it out because he's starting
Opening day short stop for the Pods. Yeah. I love the super aggressive approach from the Padres, and I mentioned yesterday, I like they're over for the season win total seventy seven and a half at the Fandels Sports Book right now, you can still get that. I really like this aggressive approach paddock in the opening day rotation. Fernando Tatis gonna be in the lineup on opening Day. We'll see where
he bats when we come back. We'll talk about, you know, what a realistic projection is for Fernando Tatis, and I love the guy. There are some concerns to great. I don't want to be a Debbie downer, but we gotta be realistic when it comes to toxics. Take a break, we'll come back here. More about tatis. Let you know how much players went for in the NFBC main event, uh and other leagues as well to star pitchers talk about all that good stuff for the option. I mean, you've talked about it all all draft season, Greggy, basically your slave, fantasy slaves. Now, I'll help you set your lineup. I'll help you set your waivers, your fab bids. Really he will do that. Will you actually if I pay twenty five dollars, will you like sign into my
league and actually do it? That's my question? All right, Listen, this is big from someone that finds a massive pain in the asked to go do this on Sunday nights. Basically, do waivers for all of our teams. I was about to say that for our teams, like Frank doesn't because he knows that there's no way. Like like even when I've done it in the past, like the last baseball season or last football season, I put waivers in, he
would just cancel mine and do it himself anyway. So the fact that once twice, so the fact that Frank will do this for you. He's a fantastic job with a backups and whatnot. Like I put five bills in for fantasy basketball the championship week, he put thirty two more in. By the time from what I walked out of the room back into the room, I had your guys, he had thirty two bills in with backups and whatnot.
This is what he's great at. For twenty five dollars, he will manage that for you, like either of you like doing the day to day stuff. That's cool. That alone is worth twenty five dollars. Sign up right now at Franks Stamile's page page. Appreciate that Greg and I had a rapid reaction regarding Fernando Tatis last night. I wrote that up as soon as it came out. I know it's not you're gonna pay for that. You gotta
pay five dollars for that. But because we're doing the show for free, would you mind revealing what that rapid reaction is. Yeah, So the reaction is, I'm very excited about Fernando Tatis. We have him in the G S T League of having in another home keeper league as well. Um, the power speed combination is legit at six home runs sixteen stolen bases last year at Double A. But he needs to remind you this guy has not at a single played appearance above. He has not played at Triple A.
He has not played in the majors. And you know that cool little tool that Mike the Rohodo Coop taught us about the other day, Greg, you can look at your opponents quality spring training. I looked into Fernando Tatises and it was rated A six point eight, which is just below the value of a Double A player. So the competition that he's been facing the spring has not been great. And throughout the spring he still struck out twenty five percent of the time. He did walk ten
percent of the time. The strikeouts are what I'm really paying attention to here, Greg, because he struck out nearly twenty eight percent of his at bats in double A last year. You have to expect that's gonna jump up a little bit. I mean, he could have a near thirty percent or over thirty percent strikeout rate here in the Major So I worry about the batting average. That's
what I want to pay attention to early on. Maybe he hits you know, too forty two fifty, But I do think, you know, if he stays up throughout the year, he could hit twenty home runs with you know, fifteen to twenty stolen bases. You know, he's one of the hardest guys to project. It's really hard superject prospects. You could be a league winner, you could be a Labor Torres type player from last season with added speed on top of that. Or he could be in the minors
come May. So it's a very wide range of outcomes here for for name, so temporaryr expectations, for your expectations. He does have big upside, for sure, but I think there's I think there's serious downside as well, Frank, when it comes to some of these younger players like a Tatis, like a Vladimir Gare or like Eloi him and as who's officially made the team of starting left field and opening day for the White Sox. Are you advantageous with these guys? Are you super excited with these guys? What's
the deal with some of these younger players? I mean they I mean, like I I really like the Robuls guy. Okay, I like him, and I like the gym Andes guy in him and Az and uh the American League. Yeah, yeah, I like those guys. There's no like. I really don't get into too much with I'm an old times so I like to go with you know, Frankis is joking to say, Dad, you got old guys. You guys have senior citizens. Gardner guy. Then I like bum gone even
doing really crappy. The last there was five rounds in a row where he kept saying, oh, Ryan bron Siller, I want to take Ryan Brown. You can get him later on in the draft. You'll be all right. Yeah, I mean I'm not really into heavy into like the rookie kids. That was the question. But I was reading up on on on those two guys, and like those two guys, what about Justin Upton, who I'm strongly against.
I don't like Justin Upton, who now is on the I L I'm gonna have to wear my Justin Upton and back in the you know, back back in the day, Upton was all right. For the last couple of years, he's been off. That's the thing. Yeah, he does what you want him to do. Every year, he hits around thirty home runs, but it comes with inconsistent week to week production. You don't necessarily know when he's gonna be really good, when he's gonna be really bad. He's better
for Rhodo because it's the end of season. Numbers will still be there, but maybe they won't be there this year, Greg because he's dealt with injury throughout all of spring and now he's gonna start the year in the i L as he's dealing with turf toe. So we don't really know what's gonna happen with Justin Upton here. Obviously,
don't drop him, you gotta stash him. But you know, maybe he doesn't get to the normal thirty home runs ninety plus RBIs because maybe he doesn't play enough games this season that turf toe could be dangerous for him. And remember, the Angels aren't a team like a lot of teams these days, don't have a set d h. They'll they'll kind of maneuver some of their players throughout the year. The Angels are not one of those teams. Whe you have Elbert Pool's d h D for the
first month and then showing Otani immediately after that. So I don't really have that luxury to keep Justin Upton in there as he gets better from the turf toe injury. So he's gonna have to be well enough. For the most parts you go out and play the outfield, so he has to be healthy and we'll see how how quickly he can recover from turf too, which does seem to linger. Greg, Do you want to play a game? You want to play the who's starting in left field
according a roster resource game? And the answer really yeah, right, Peter, There you go, Greg, Peter Borges back where he belonged. That started. Peter Borges, remember, I think was the prospect who got called up before Mike Trout came up around the same time. Yes, absolutely, two thousand nine. Yeah, expecting a lot of speed for Peter board just never really worked out well. Speed worked out, getting on basically everything else that you needed has not worked out for Peter Bord.
Just during the break, Frank, you said you had a did you know for us? Are you ready? Ready? Okay? From nineteen fifty nine when I was born, right until now, two major leagues, only two Major League Baseball teams, I have one three championships in a row. Trip of question. Three teams, two teams. Two teams want preconsecutive World Series. One of them, of course you're Yankees. That's why you're
decking your Yankee gearing, all right. And the other one was the Sincinnati Reds Machine only went two years and right. If I just want to sound confident, Oakland A's, Oakland A's and seventy two, seventy three, seventy four Yankees did it ninety nine and thousand. I went back in two thousand and one. Of course, it's a falling game seven to the Diamondbacks. There you go. He didn't like you play. You didn't like play long enough. He didn't next time
like Greg play. He likes to You did have something else? Give them three guests. You a question for xt time, you another question for us. The other question is in your lifetime, do you think that you'd ever see New York City football, baseball, basketball, hockey r win all in the same year We're not Boston nineties sixty nine. Long term, Uh Mets, Nicks and uh, well, I don't know who want the Salts, Jets, Jets, Jets right right, Well, the
Knicks is never gonna get there. Brooklyn probably a better chance. And the Yankees and Giants were very close back in two thousand and two thousand, right thousands? Is that when the Giants went to the Super Bowl to face Ravens, that was only nine. You were like thirty at that point. So they play intro both thirty five, which took place into January two tho one. The Yankees were World Series champions three months before that in October two thousand against
the Mets. So Mets and Giants were very Yankees and Giants were very close to making that happen. Obviously, Nicks, we're not at all. They had made it, you know the year before they made nine against the Spurs. There wasn't that far off. Wasn't the same year, but it wasn't that far off. That's the closest. But my lifetime now because my team all a terrible you're a Yankee fan, you can't talk about them being terrible. Have you've seen
enough championship and you've seen two Giants championships. Have you're spoiled? What are you talking about? I don't want to say spoiled. Boston fans, Auston fans are spoiled. I'm more spoil than you are. You could nick if you're not you're not a Mets Jets fan, could be much worse. Yes, m hmm, A lot of those guys out there. That's the E T S fans, right, Mets Jets nets that's right, well not really nets catch the nets yea, but yeah, I
mean you could be mentioned. Um, Michael Fodio might actually have a worse like the worst Mets bills. Nix. It's bad, very bad. It's very bad, very bad. Um. Interesting, So Jakeen de Gram got paid yesterday, right, and we've made this big deal out of it, thirty million or what not? Fifty two and a half deferred. What did you think of the Mets extending Jacob Degram's contract? Rank? I mean,
he's he's really he's a really good picture. But uh, you got you know, when you got when you signed somebody up for a long contract, you have to really put in perspective if the person is gonna gonna like crap out or if he's gonna get hurt, then you have to pay him all this money. I need a lot of these contracts are really out of control. No, I think that they need to. I think that what they should really do. He paid him according to their performance. Well,
I think that's what they try. So they try to do that, and they try to do on their future performance projecting forward, which is obviously very hard to do. It's what we try to do. We try to project forward and figure out what these players are gonna do when we draft them. So it's kind of similar. You know, they try and pay him based on what they expect him to do, and you do kind of pay him
for what he's done too. Right, So like Jacob de Graham for example, Uh, he was getting paid arbitration on a yearly basis and he just wont to cy young. He just had a historic season, So I think you kind of like pay him back for some of what he did. He just had a historic starting pitching season, and they expect him to be good for the next couple of years. Obviously be the anchor of that rotation.
I'd expect the same thing. Um, you know, he doesn't have as much wear and tear on the arm because he was originally a position player in the minors and then they got converted into a starting pitcher. So no, greg, I think it's a good change of pace for the New York Mets. Pete Alonso again just reiterated that he's gonna make the opening day roster. That is absolutely official
from Anthony Tacomo, who covers the New York Mets. Um So he makes the opening day roster, and they extend Jacob de Graham so they don't have this big mess that they have to go through throughout this season and next season. So it looks like, you know, with Brody van Wagen and maybe things are gonna be a little bit different here for the Met season. We'll see, you know. It's interesting, lady said, fifty two and a half million
dollars um deferred for Jacob to grot without interest. I wonder if it's a very bonds bondage, a situation which is hysterical um in a million for the next fifty years. It's like, you know, it's kind of how I feel with the Mets, right It's like one of these things where it sounds all well and nice now, but like two years, like it's to be a disaster and they had no choice. Figure out that they have to blow
the team up again. They had no choice. But we saw Assesspenis that they had to make that do that, they had to sign in that contract. But I'm waiting for this disaster to happen. Yeah, and that's why I didn't pick the medalsill yesterday. And I'm waiting for a disaster to happen. So when I walked in before, I asked Gabe, are you excited for baseball? I asked him, you know, what are your what are your some of your some of your best bets. She's like, you know,
I'm really looking at the season wind totals. It's like, I love the Mets under I chose the Mets over yesterday at eighty five and a half. So see what happens. But it's a it's stat National League East Division happens this year. Well at least you um, yeah, San Diego over, which is important that seventy seven and a half. I would still bet that. I wonder if do you think it's gone up since they've since they've named I don't know, still seventy seven and a half he was like a
good number, though, let's make a good number. Did you take the over on the padres? Did I think it over on the padres? I think I can open that up for you. Hang on, I mean it will take me very long. Greg. Eoy Jimenez, as we had all expected, makes the opening day roster for the Chicago White Sox and I did the bench with Bubba Sorry, budd Um, I did the Bench with Bubba podcast last night. I tweeted out the links you can find that. Um and we were talking about Eloy. What's the what's the realistic
projection for Eloy Jimenez this season? I think in the prime of his career, he might be able to put up Nelson Cruz like numbers. But again, I want to temper expectations a little bit. This year. I think to seventy five to eighty with twenty five to thirty home runs. I think it's fair for Eloy. What do you think it doesn't soundunreasonable? UM. I was looking at his numbers yesterday because I was in this draft, like, I think
he's going to be somewhere around that. I think he'll have some struggles as well, but I think he's he's ready. He seems more ready to me than for Nandotati's junior does. Yeah, because he played in Triple A last year and he dominated much like Vladimir Guerrero Junior did. I'll tell you this, poppy, you said you like Eloy himenez Um. I think you're gonna like him four years to come too, because I expect him to be a legitimate power hitter. So that might be someone you know, maybe a year or two
from now, that you're drafting quite regularly. Probably there you has, the of course starting left fielder for the Chicago White Sox. One of the reasons I picked that typically over for the White Sox Frank Day, you know, I do no but refreshing, refreshing my we all went under. That's right, That's exactly the right refreshing my fantasy. Twitter. How about this from our buddy Matt Modica at CTM Baseball on Twitter. Et Alonso will provide Joey Gallo power with better batting average.
Old call, Yeah, do you think that's his that's his fandom speaking, Well, I probably I like it. I worry a little bit about the batting average. It's not gonna be Joey gallow levels. Of bad. I don't think you can hit you. I don't think I don't think Joey Gallo power. Yeah, I agree with that. I think you hit thirty home runs, Greg, maybe not forty like Gallo. I think he did thirty home runs with like a
two forty two batting average. And maybe the batting average gets better in years to come, but at the strike out rate actually went up in Triple A last year, Alonso, So I worry a little bit about the batting average. I do think the power is gonna play, though we've seen that. You've seen that here throughout the spring. I
think you think five home runs during the spring. And to look up what his quality was, Yes, seven point eight, so that's between that's closer to Triple A, just below Triple A. Triple A level player over over eight is Major League right, No. Eight is Triple A. Ten is MLB. He's at seven point eight, so he's Triple A, closer to Triple A. I'm not facing the best competition, but actually better than Tatis was. And yeah, he had four home runs with eleven RBIs in the it, Alonso, pet
not Peter Peter. He's getting that wrong. Drop the R drop the r friends call him Pete another one. That's another one. Write him down. Poppy already got him too. I think two or three of my UH baseball teams you're gonna give big power. We don't know you like power. We all know that you like power. Joey Galla guy, I'm sure I haven't out of all my teams that I haven't only in one league. President. Well, you're more

shot to win the division if everything breaks right. And you could say that about a lot of teams, but they certainly have the pitching, there's no question about it. Fantasy Best Friends for Ever? Surrounded by Frank Stample's loo good a thing crazy? Do you
watch all of your sons for shows to do? I mean I usually eat the why I watched him like most of them, trying to watch him alive. If I'm not, then that's when I get back home or whatever. Then first thing I do real it's awesome. And after that then I started doing all my draft king stuff. And sure does like that? Frank does having your dad listen to you and watch you? Does it hurt you and fantasy drafts you're in together? M I I think so,
I'm trying to think. Yeah, he did take a few players that I like, but no, I mean, look, he listens to the show obviously he wants to support us and stuff, but he also wants, you know, hold on what to do in fantasy. So I mean, if he takes my advice, and you know, I can't can knock him for that, I should. I mean, we just did a draft the other night where you took all the players that I wanted. There, you go, just draft me and you'll have a great team. But I did it purposely. Yeah,
but that happened in football with us too. Oh no, when we did that the BFF on the h Vanduel thing and you said, oh, I should have took my own advice, you know, when you said about some certain players that I used. There was there was one fan content that we did where he basically just used all the players that I told him to use. Was like the Chalky plays and like he had a great week. I think he might have. I want, I think I wont that. That was that was the week I wont.
I won first place And I didn't even take my own advice. Why didn't you? Because you ever think yourself? Yeah, probably pretty much. You You think yourself into a pretzel. We're also gonna do Fandel Contest every Friday night for baseball this season. Definitely, anyone else listening. I'm going to send out the link later today. It'll be twenty people. We'll do a two dollar entry the first week. If people want to be more than that, then we'll up it as the weeks go on, but we'll do two
dollar entry top three percent. Well, you are not me. Two dollars is four okay, So two dollar entry for Baseball Vandel contest this Friday main slate. Of course, there's no day games this Friday, because, okay, is it really that hard baseball to give us day games for like the first week of the season. Explain to you why you were very frustrating you didn't like my answer? Don't it's the answer. Anyone could do getting that answer, And I don't like that's the answer, would have been Rob
Manford what he yelled at him too? Would you have probably not anything you got. You know, back in the day, the Cubs when they played home games most of the time, they played in the afternoons on Friday, right because there was a reason for that. A couple of years ago they would play every Friday home game during the day. There was a reason for it for the Cubs, well, let's just do what the Cubs do. So the Cubs. The Cubs only are allowed to play X number of
week night games because the surrounding areas. It's agree that they made. That was the last name with lights. It was the agreement that they made with the surrounding community. They can only play X number of nighttime weekday games that includes Friday, so they would always play and still to this day, mostly Friday Mattenees. The most Cub games really are Mattenees of a couple during the week that are at night at home, but for the most part,
most home games regularly are in the afternoon. And I've thought about this too. The Yankees, whenever they play home games on Saturdays, those are always Mattinee games too. Sure of course there is there a reason for that, or is this a Yankee thing? Honestly, just don't know. The Ans lest its Saturdays, every Saturday, Yankees playing matt because it's but they're the only team that's the only game that's on usually at one piano on a Saturday is the Yankees. I think it's just a Yankee thing. I
don't think it's anything really more to it. No, I don't I don't. I don't mean it like that. I just think it's something that they've always done and like to do. I mean, I love it same you guys. Gonna be game Saturday. No, I didn't like to go home. I don't. I don't really like going I don't like going to any live events really. Yeah, I like to go to the live was like a concert? What now? What? What? What kind of concert would you like to go to?
Not Matthew, Definitely not Dave, matt your dad? Why not? I mean I'm too like metal and classic rock and stuff like that. I'm not into that, like, uh good stuff. What genre is the mattis bad? It's a jam band, jamp rock. I don't even know what you'd call it. You'd call it dad. It is soft rock, a soft rock, spore, jam man folk rocks I like. I mean, I like like Sabbath and Ozzie. Right, I'm not even a big I mean I like the Metallica, But I'm not like all in on like like your son. I I'm until
like my my like Judas Priest stuff. All the music nowadays it's terrible. She this movie yeah, besties, Yeah, this movie that come out like about Motley Crue supposedly that's like not as good as it should be. But this Motley Crue thing going on film on Netflix, I think I haven't heard anything about it. You watched the Queen movie, right, I did, but he raps it. Yeah, it's good. I heard. I liked saying it is good. I liked it. I think it's the best reviews. There's a lot of problems,
but I liked it. They didn't get his hardcore to framework as they needed to. Like there's a lot of like alluding to things that he would do instead of like showing you what he would do. That's kind of better. You need to see him, Like Freddie Mercury is a wild dude. You kinda want to see some of that. I agree, I got all I have. I've asked the chat with questions for Frank not you great, Well, who wants to know about me? Anyway? Did you get anything? Nothing?
Nobody cares wants to talk to me. Nobody doesn't seem like it now. Yeah, unfortunately, I'm sorry. Um. Anyway, let's get back into baseball. Let's look forward here. What do you go next hour? As I mentioned, we're going to get into you or picks for where everything so young, MVP, Rookie of the Year and of course a division division get into the World Series. I'll put that on our over under sheeet as well. Last night, you're you're asked in that Dodger game, Frank for perfect innings for the
Los Angeles Dodgers. This kind of fits the florial quality greater signed quantity theory, does it not? Yes, it definitely does. Uria is gonna open the season in the rotation because what do you know, Rich Hill has already hurt dealing with the injury. Um, we'll see what happens. Because I wonder if once Hill comes back in Kershaw, obviously a few of these guys are gonna get booted from the rotation. Who's the first man out? Who's the second man out
for the Dodgers rotation? Unfortunately, it might be your asked because I think they want to limit his endings this year him. This is definitely one of the UH want quality over quantity here for for yours because I think when he pitches, he's gonna be lights out. Look, he was the top prospect in baseball, got called up when he was I believe it was nineteen. He was Walker Wheeler before Walker Bueller. Yeah, he really was um and you know, there's a lot to like about him. He
looked phenomenal last night. I was watching some of that start. Four perfect endings, four strikeouts. He's gonna be really good when he's on the mound. I don't know how deep he's gonna go into games. So if you play in leagues where you're you're rewarded for quality starts, I don't know that any of these Dodgers pictures are really gonna be great for quality start leagues. I think you know they've always had a short each with these guys. They
don't let them go third time through the lineup. Walker Bueller, I think is the exception. They'll probably just let him be the workhorse here, but everyone else I kind of worry about the endings. When Urios is on the mound, he's gonna be really good. I agree, man, I completely agree that he's gonna be more reliable than the guy like Ross strip A, and there will be more reliable. Um. Then here's your you. Potentially we've seen him be up. If I told you that Reu Mata strippling and Curios,
it's the same amount of endings. I do want I want, I want Yourias and the upside is the highest for Arios. Yeah, I can't disagree. I don't even know what those endings would be. Maybe like, well, may do let me do this where Joseuson is. Over All, four guys are out there. They're all free agents. For some reason they're not but whatever rank how you want, you'd want them not knowing that their endings will be not knowing when they'll pitch, or it'll be the Bullpetter if they'll be in the minors.
You don't know any of this. Those four guys, Ryu, Stripling, Curios, And it's a good question. I think at the top it would be between Ryu and Urios for me. Um, you know Ryu, they they trust him a little bit more. He's obviously gonna pitch on opening day. He was really good in the second half of the season. He's he's always been really good when he's on the mount. He's just always hurt. Kent to my Ada, I see as a guy who's gonna bounce between the bullpen and the rotation.
It could be all these guys, but I've drafted Kent to Myda before. He's let me down a little bit. I still do think that he's really good. And the same goes for Ross Trippling. But I get to see, you know, really Strippling in my Ada, bouncing back and forth between the rotation and the bullpen. We'll see what happens. I owned Strippling last year. He was absolutely awesome, you know, much like the Houston Astros. Any picture that the daughters get their hands on just awesome. Uh you know. Um
So for me, it's probably between Urios and Ryu. I think I think you've give a slight nod to wry you though they Frank Engine, Ryu, Julio, Urias Strippling, Meda. Do you have any of these guys in your teams? I don't know if you've ended up with any of the No, I didn't think any of them. You haven't targeted any of the Dodgers pictures now come. No, not the Dodgers, into the Dodgers and no, no, nobody like really catch I'm a Walker Bueller. Did you end up
with him anywhere? I think maybe one team I may have gotten Walker, bull draft him at all? Or no, he's done because the injury. He's done. He's done, A definitive he's done. Done. He's done. Nervous to you by Louis Louis Saberno. I am nervous because he's like, was one of my top picks as us my number one starting picture. And now is this you have to try to find somebody put him on the I L or whatever, and uh hopefully I get so many decent Why am I taking a chance in one of these rookie kids?
Have I seen an these rookie kids? I mean, I mean, like Chris Paddock or one of the teams I have, Hey, sus Luzardo, I draft, that's that's annoying. I did too, And then I he now he's hurt, and and how long it's gonna be till he comes back and you know, gets back into the rotation or whatever. But yeah, I mean when he comes back, I think so he's gonna he's gonna do pretty well. I really think so. He asked me a questions. He said, oh, Paddick is a free ason of this thing. I'm like, all right, pick
up Chris Paddock please for me? In this draft. Last night it was like I had that Round fourteen and the craziest thing I've ever seen happened in this draft. Ever. My buddies there. I want you to drive Chris Pretti Chris Paddock around there. I did. I got him. I paired up the Paddock and Paul de Young in that swing. Where did taxis go? Pushed up in the eighth round of this draft? Josh James? I don't know what what's happening here? Why is Josh James going in the eighth round? Like?
What am I missing about this league that Josh James is going in? Would you rather own Frank in Fantasy baseball leagues? Josh James were Forest Whitley, And that's a really fair question to me. Forest Whitley is now. I thought when we were talking about Tatis, I said he it's really hard to project a rookie. Uh, Forest Whitley, He's probably the hardest one. He's a legitimate X factor for Fantasy this year because he has legit like four
five pitches that are plus pitches ready to go. He I have no doubts that he could get major leaguers out. But why are the Astroid's gonna, you know, push up his service time? They don't really need him because they have Wade Miley, they have Make Hugh, they have Brad Peacock, they have Josh James if anything happens to those guys too, So I really don't know how many innings forrest Whiley
is gonna give you. I mean, if you told me at the end of the season he pitched sixty innings in the Majors and you know they were saving him the playoffs, that wouldn't surprise me, and also wouldn't surprise me. For me, he goes under twenty innings if they needed him to do that this year. He's definitely good enough. I think he's the top pitching prospect in baseball, even better than Paddick, even better than Luzardo. But to me, his timetable is probably the hardest to read out of
all of them, even more so than Lozardo. So I just don't really know when he's gonna be up. I guess because of that, I would go with Josh James. I think Whitley's upside is higher, Greg, But I think if if one of these guys in the rotation falters, Josh James is probably the next man up right away for the Yeah, as as soon as he gets healthy. I think you're probably right. I think Whitley has the upside of the town. We've seen that before. Was still
one of the top prospects in baseball. And I think the long term, Whiley is probably the guy you're gonna want to own, but if you're looking for a more immediate, uh, a more immediate restitution, I think the answer is probably Josh James. And and I think you could very well seem in April eighth round, maybe because it's a keeper league and they're really excited about him there, But I can't really justify that. Um, maybe they're related to Josh James,
I don't think so. Okay, all right, well, you know, I'd rather just take a shot on Colin MQ a few rounds later or Brad Peacock even later on. And I know that those players are starting in the road Tae Man, Brad Peacock, my man Wade Miley, my man Colling McK. We need all of them just pitch. Well, right, you realize that about twenty four hours from now baseball
is gonna be starting. It should be fun. We needed to start a ready because with all these guys that are getting injured and stuff, we need you guys go into d L so we can make our moves I mean that's what he's waiting on too. It's ridiculously drafted Med Olson last week after the injury, but before we knew the timetable, so we drafted Thursday night. Right that was like right in between everything, and he's deciding between Olson and Karnacione. It's like between totally totally and it's
not again. You know, I wanted I get I want to Oldson, I want to Holston. Then now I got him, and then I also, uh, near the end of the draft, I uh draft a d D. He's waiting for Olson and Ddy to go on the I l here add them and then then you can pick up more players. Now, it's funny in this draft last night, Matt Olsen goes like, you know what I really want? He didn't have a first basement the time he went for a dollar in
my home league Oxen over the weekend earlier. I think the guy the draft didn't realize it was hurt, to be honest with them, he went like six or seventh round. Um, so right around there, the next best first basement on the board was Edwin and Cornassion and I was like, he needs the first basement. Let me draft before him. And he had his hat rankings. He had Massy here It's knocker, ran to the top thirty player on the board,
and Naca was like still there. And even though we had a lot of pitching, I went and grabbed Tanaka and Cornassion went off the board Copis later, So I got stuck a little bit and I drafted Ian Desmond as his starting first basement. What kind of format is this? Uh, it's hit the head categories six by six. I followed it up with justin smoke. Yeah yeah, I mean, look, justin smoke. Might people to give you comparable numbers to what Edwin and Cornascio was gonna give you anyway? Um yeah,
Ian Desmond, I don't know. We'll see what Like he was last year, we'll see what he does this year. Look it's coors Field, whenever he plays there. It's fine. But like they opened, I believe with in her twelve games on the road here, they start off in Miami and then they go to Tampa. So see what happens with he didn't do it. He didn't do all that great land who when he played for I think so
was Texas and he was really really good. That's when everyone was expecting has that monster here in Texas go to college? Ever? You know, he can't get worse. He's gonna be awesome. And then he right because the coolest field starts hitting the ball in the ground sixty at a time. So it hasn't been great for Ian Desmond. We're Pete Alonso and Luke Void already gone. Great. Pete Alonso, I don't have the draft board opened, but Lucavoy was definitely gone, and we're taking both those guys over day.
I don't know. I Alonso, I don't remember. I would have taken Peter. I have Alonzo on two of my teams picked them up. Pete greater than Yonder, Greg Mbers of the Alonzos, he definitely greater than Yonder. What I'm like, Yonder Man, We have made it left of the break. You know the met the Mets have, the Mets have. They have a pretty decent team, but I don't believe they're gonna they're gonna be anyone near playoff? Intention do
you sun take the under with you? Greg? Can you tell us about tell us what we don't know about your son? Frank? What does this say about him? I I don't know. I want you to tell he's my clone. I can't. I can't, I can't go against him. Plus, he's my he's my fantasy guru. You no, I don't want to ruffle his feathers. You're no fun. Not very fun for us. It's not don't worry, Tell him whatever you want. Not much much that Bears and Beers base Here's Beers baseball. The Beers's take a break when we
come back. Let's let's have us some politics and picks. We'll go division by division when we would hern stick around more ventures up necks, fancy huffs,
