Joker

For our first episode under our new name we're going to look at Joker - starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips, this non-canon psychological thriller follows the life of Arthur Fleck, a struggling comedian desperately clinging on to his sanity while the world around him crumbles and beats him down. As his grip on reality fades a dark new persona arises - one he seems all too comfortable with.

The film is tipped by many as an early contender for several Oscar awards too and by releasing it under the "DC Dark Label" umbrella, Warner Bros have managed to give themselves some breathing room for those expecting a swift Batman cameo.
