Episode description

Falconry as we know it is a relatively new thing. Tom Smylie entered the American falconry scene as it was just decades old, and the landscape for the sport was literally Wild West. There were no regulations, no rules, hardly any clubs or organizations, and all of this had to be made up as these falconry pioneers went along. Tom donated the first two pairs of breeding Peregrines to the cause of saving the species from extinction by DDT. He was also there at the founding of the North American Falconry Association, and faithfully served the organization for many years. But we’ll let Tom tell his story!
